Angle Analysis Lab Report
The table shows me that Image E gives a very accurate value, correct to the nearest thirty seconds and
meaning my precision in calculating angles has achieved an average (mean) between 0.1 and 0.2
degrees from the true value. The range (difference between small and largest values) is also less that
5% of the average result, suggesting that my angle calculations with different star trails produced
repeatable results.
However, Image D is at the complete opposite end of the spectrum, giving a value wildly out by over
14 hours when minute precision is required. This margin of difference is so large that it cannot
possibly be caused by measurement errors of the angles, as using the known value for the sidereal day,
if the angle were 9.8 degrees ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it is possible that using interval timer photography for all of the images would produce a
more accurate result, as human error is largely removed as a problem in the timing stage, although
issues are still possible when setting up the equipment. Moreover, this improvement is also only based
on three images, a small sample size and an unfortunately anecdotal suggestion. However, it would be
an extension to see if a repeat of the observation produced the greatest accuracy with interval timer
photography images a second time round, which would suggest that the most accurate result can be
achieved with this

Three Day Diet Analysis
Growing up I have always given my dad a hard time for his weight until about four years ago when he
pulled out his wedding tux and I tried it on and could not fit in it. I am currently six foot four inches
and weight approximately one hundred and fifty pounds so you can share my amazement when I
found out that I couldn t fit into my two hundred and fifty pound father s tux. My dad got married
when he was twenty two and I just turned twenty two, so I believe that it is about time to start being
more a wear of what I eat. Being that I am currently underweight, I haven t had to discipline myself
when it comes to eating too much. My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My lunches will be foods that give me two ounces of grains, one cup of vegetables, and one cup of
dairy. My afternoon break is a perfect time for my afternoon snack that will consist of one ounce of
grain, a half cup of vegetables, a half cup of dairy, and two ounces of protein foods. My last meal of
the day should contain two ounces of grains, one cup of vegetables, one cup of fruits, and two ounces
of protein foods. Seeing the meal plans makes me feel like this diet is going to be something I am able
to do.
I am a very active person, I think this is a contributing factor for my weight problem, and a proper diet
like the meal plans provided by Super Tracker will give me the nutrients my body needs to drive
through my work days with less fatigue and exhaustion. For as long as I remember my work days have
consisted of my waking up, working, coming home and hitting the sack as soon as possible. With a
proper diet, I have hopes of not only having more energy for work, but also for after work activities.
There are so many things that I just cannot accomplish on my limited days off work. It would be ideal
if I could take care of stuff during the work week as well. I guess in order for me to take care of
things, I must first take care of myself by giving my body what it needs to be healthy and strong.

Under My Bed
Under My Bed My name is Tommy. I m ten years old, and I have a secret. There s a monster that lives
under my bed. I wake up screaming every night. My mom and dad tell me there isn t a monster under
my bed, but I know the truth. It s there, terrorizing me every night. He comes out from under my bed
and tortures me. He leaves scratches and bruises on me; but when I show my parents, they say I
probably fell out of bed. The terror starts when the lights go out with a flick and the door closes with a
click. Soon, I hear the tap, tap, tap coming from under my bed. I can almost see those giant, glinting
claws tapping against the polished hardwood floor. Tap. Tap. Tap. The tapping becomes more
persistent and that s when I hear it. The low ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My whole body aches, and I just want all of this to end. He sees me struggling and tells me to stop, but
I refuse to stop. This should not be happening to me. I try to yell, but no sound is coming out of my
mouth. The monster is becoming angrier. I can see the rage boiling inside of him just waiting to be
released. Suddenly, he grabs a match and lights it. He begins to burn me with it. He burns the tips of
my fingers and then stops. I try to cry out, but it s no use. No one can hear me. If you don t listen to
me, I will continue to burn you, says the monster. I stop struggling for a little bit, trying to think. I try
to think of a way out of here, but the ropes are too tight. I stay like this for what seems like hours, but I
know it is only a few minutes. Since you have decided to behave, I will remove the ropes, says the
monster. This is my chance. I can kick him and hit him when he unties the ropes and then make a run
for the door. The monster comes over and cuts the ropes with a giant claw, also cutting me in the
process, but I don t care. This is my chance to get away. When he is done, I raise a leg to kick him but
he sees me coming, and breaks my leg in half. The pain is excruciating. I scream, even though no one
can hear me. I can t move my leg. Once again, the world goes black. When I wake up again, the first
thing I notice is the pain in my leg. I can t move my leg; and when I look at it,

Civic Engagement Speech
In June of 2017 a close friend and I established a county wide political club designed specifically for
teenagers. Our club was founded on the ideals that we thought were most critical for political success
among teenagers. First and foremost, we wanted to encourage teens to get civically engaged. I believe,
vehemently, that through civic engagement, especially among teens, we are able to bring forward the
change the we aspire to. As someone who is absolutely enthralled with volunteering on campaigns
because of the, almost tangible, atmosphere of change that exists in a campaign office, I believe that
civic engagement is of the utmost importance to bringing upon change. Secondly, we wanted to offer
high school students a place where they could air their frustrations with the current political climate.
The last 8, and arguably 12, months have been incredibly tumultuous. Our current president has
chosen to demean and belittle minorities across the country. As an immigrant I can empathize with the
people who are in constant fear of being deported. My mother is one of these people. While she has
been here for more than a decade, because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We also wanted to teach students in our community the value of getting engaged. Through
engagement, you bring on change, while also making incredible connections. For example, i was able
to reach out to multiple board members of the the Young Democrats of America, when I was looking
for guidance as to how to establish the chapter. This goes to show the power that getting engaged in
the community can have in either the short or long term future. These networking experiences also
connect people who have the experience with people who don t. By connecting these two groups you
are able to greatly reduce the learning curve, and enable the next generation to bring about change

Depression In The Fault In Our Stars
The Fault in our Stars Draft
Whenever you read a cancer booklet or website or whatever, they always list depression among the
side effects of cancer. But, in fact, depression is not a side effect of cancer. Depression is a side effect
of dying. (Green 3). Hazel Grace Lancaster frequently thinks about death and the side effects of dying.
Being the protagonist of the novel The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, readers get to witness Hazel
s thoughts and actions change throughout the book. Hazel Lancaster changes her view of her parents,
social life, and her uneventful routine.
When Hazel is diagnosed with cancer, she quickly notices her parents fear. When she is hospitalized at
a young age due to her cancer, and almost dies, she sees her parents crying and her mother states, I m
not going to be a mother anymore! Since that tragic incident, Hazel feels that once she passes her
mother will be constantly depressed and have nothing to do without her. Hazel explains, I want you
guys to have a life, I said. I worry that you won t have a life, that you ll sit around here all day with no
me to look after and stare at the walls and want to off yourselves. (Green 297). Once Hazel knows that

Essay On Gustav Koch
Gustav Koch is a dissonance loving composer in the contemporary classical music scene of the future
who is preparing to have his pieces performed by a group of musicians on the planet Vetros. This
celestial body solely comprises an eminent concert hall. In spite of Koch artistic ambitions, he is
living under the shadow of death; during rehearsals, his performers die one by one. Charley is baffled
by Koch s phraseology as used in this concert s programme notes which the Doctor intercepted.
Explaining that his compositions contain pre Wagnerian dodecaphony with Mozartian phrases, thus
incorporating asymmetrical passages with an oxymoronically balanced contour, Koch then apologises
by stating that as cumbrous as this is, no shorthand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay about It s Time to Reform the Endangered Species Act
It s Time to Reform the Endangered Species Act
In 1973, Congress passed the Endangered Species Act. The Act was passed in response to findings by
Congress that growth and development were responsible for the extinction of species of fish, wildlife
and plants.
This Act was to provide programs to protect species identified as either endangered or threatened. It
also mandated Federal agencies and departments to protect endangered and threatened species in their
own operations, as well as work with State and local agencies to further promote conservation and
protection of identified species.
By the definition of the Endangered Species Act, a species covered by the legislation is either

The National Wildlife Institute has published Conservation Under the Endangered Species Act: A
Promise Broken . Their critique of the Act includes questioning the programs undertaken as a result of
the Act have played sufficient roles in the recovery of species that were delisted, as well as
questioning the allocation of funding to programs intended to aid listed species.
The National Endangered Species Act Reform Coalition is questioning the effectiveness of the Act, as
well as its impact on people. Pointing to the poor progress of removing species from the Endangered
and Threatened lists, the group calls on reform of the Act, to reform the methods for determining
eligibility for listing, opening the listing and regulatory processes of the Act to include participation
from all groups affected by the legislation, and providing more incentives for private citizens and
businesses to pro actively participate in conservation of listed species.
MY OPINION
While well intended, the Act has some shortcomings, as indicated by the lack of progress in getting
species off the list. This indicates that the programs that are part of the Act are failing to accomplish
their mandated objective.
Also, while biodiversity is crucial to protect, there are natural processes

Brazoria County Environmental Analysis
I grew up in the small town of Sweeny, Texas in Brazoria County. Brazoria County has a population of
over 330,000 people and about 1,600 thousand square miles long. The majority of Brazoria County is
a combination of small towns that gradually get bigger as you get towards the Houston area. About
77.5% of the population is white, 13.5 is African American, 6.8 is Asian and the other 2.2 percent
makes up many different races. The overall health ranking of Brazoria County is 23 out of 234 in 2017
(County Health Ranking). Compared to other counties, Brazoria County overall quality of living is
about average. We do not have any alarming health issues that are through the roof but that does not
mean that we do not have health issues that need to be addressed.
Growing up in the southern part of Brazoria County, I can honestly say that our biggest health issue
would have to be our diets. We enjoy the taste of southern style cooking where I come from and to us
it does not seem too bad until we develop health problems. Surrounding the majority of the small

Education In Richard Rodriguez s The Hunger Of Memory
Education in the world today is almost a necessity to obtaining a well paying job and a decent
standard of living. The entire population is surrounded by millions of creations well educated people
made or thought of by themselves. In the excerpt from The Hunger of Memory by Richard Rodriguez
and the essay Superman and Me by Sherman Alexie, education majorly influenced the outcomes of
the authors lives. Common themes found throughout the writings are upbringings from ethnic
backgrounds and being taught with the American education system. Education is extremely influential
in how successful people become in the world. At first glance, these pieces of literature seem similar,
but they have many differing viewpoints on how truly powerful education can be on the life of an
individual. Whether having a positive or negative impact on a life or lives, knowledge can lead a
person to a truly successful route in his or her journey. Having a proper education is essential. In the
excerpt from The Hunger of Memory, Rodriguez discusses how he became assimilated to the
American education system. He was brought about in a Spanish speaking home and taught English at
the age of six. Rodriguez explains his feelings of no longer having a connection to his parents, who
were immigrants, and his Mexican culture, in which he claims is because of the rapid change to
speaking English and being taught the American way. The author states, The name I carry from my

The Absolute Ego
During this paper I will discuss Fichte s ideas on the absolute ego and how it pertains to the idea of
God. I will also discus the similarities and also the differences between Fichte and Smakra as outlined
by Lewis. I will then conclude with my remarks and thoughts upon the subject matter.
Fichte was an idealist. This is the belief that nothing is known to us except ideas. Since this was the
belief of Fichte he avoided dualism and instead believed that only that which is in and for
consciousness can be assumed to exist. Fichte thus proceeded to explain experience as the product of
intelligence in itself. This idea of intelligence in itself is the ego. To understand this further we must
think the wall , once you think the wall then think of the person who thought the wall, and thus you
could go on indefinitely. This shows that no matter how we try to objectify the self there always
remains the pure ego. Furthermore, all can intellectually intuit the pure ego. This is further explained
that anyone who is conscious of an action as his own is aware of himself acting. Once someone
recognizes that an action is their own, the person is able to reflect on their self consciousness and will
realize that they can intuit the pure ego as an infinite activity. The pure ego itself is not conscious; the
pure ego becomes conscious through the philosophers activity directed towards the pure ego as an
activity. Once this occurs the pure ego posits itself. This pure ego is

Abraham Lincoln s Boyhood Home From The Age Of 7
Indiana, Abraham Lincoln s boyhood home from the age of 7 to 21, has memorialized our 16th
president with two statues in its capital city of Indianapolis. Both statues were controversial from the
beginning whether because of the amount of money it would take to pay for them or their placement.
The first statue was erected in 1934 and simply entitled Abraham Lincoln. This statue was funded by a
trust fund established by Henry C. Long, a wealthy lumberman to be used after his wife s death, the
trust fund was said to have $10,000 $25,000 in it. Long s stipulation was that with this money a statue
honoring Lincoln would be built in the southeast corner of University Park. Architects of the park
were hesitant to include the statue because it would spoil the artistic symmetry of the park. Finally, the
Judge Smiley N. Chambers ordered the statue to be put up and granted the city access to the fund that
housed the $16,800 it would cost to build the statue. The man who was commissioned to sculpt the
statue was Henry Hering of New York. Henry had done some statuary work previously in the
memorial shrine in the park. His work upon the memorial is entitled Pro Patria, and when it was
erected in 1929 it was the largest bronze cast in the United States. Hering had studied and worked with
Augustus Saint Gaudens another prominent sculptor at the time. The statue was unveiled during the
Army day program in 1935. The program was expected to attract thousands to see the nation s

A Brief Note On Crime And Crime Rates
Crime is one of the major issues that America has been facing for over one hundred years. Although
crime has been steadily decreasing ever since the 1990 s there are still a lot of room for improvement.
With this issue bring many subsequent problems, such as incarcerated people per capita. This doesn t
only have an extreme burden on those incarcerated and their families, but also on the federal
government. This costs them billions of dollars every year to control delinquent behavior but it still
hasn t worked to its full potential. There are three topics containing four variables that must be
considered when attempting to reduce crime rates. This includes police, surveillance, and federal
assistance. The variables they produce are, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first studied found there was a strong correlation between the rate at which someone is arrested
for an offense and the rate of the same offense (Tittle and Rowe, 1974). This was mostly seen in
robberies, when a robber was arrested the rate of robberies would slightly decrease. This poses two
reason of the decrease, either the other people who frequently rob people do it less frequently because
they are frightened to also be arrested, or that the robber who was arrested was a repeat offender. This
is interesting because it doesn t have to be one or the other, the reality is that there is most likely a mix
of both happening. This effect was examined by another researcher who coined the term the tipping
effect, and understood that clearance rates only affect some crime rates and not in others depending on
the offense (Bailey n.d.). This means that the clearance of a crime, which is the closing of an open
case, either by arrest, death, etc. could not always positively impact the crime rate. This is not only a
difference in violent crimes and property crimes because there was a negative association found in
property crimes and clearance rates (Logan, 1975).
This poses four main problems, first the fact that crime rates and clearance rates directly influence
each other. This is a major road block that is preventing the causal effect of the independent variable
on the crime

A Prayer For Owen Meany Analysis
How many people are willing to practice their own death? Not many, right? It sounds strange, but one
person in particular was eager to do just that Owen Meany. In John Irving s A Prayer for Owen Meany,
Owen makes many sacrifices, his biggest sacrifice being his own life. In the beginning of the novel,
Owen comes across as slightly different with his minuscule size and high pitched voice, but as the
novel progresses and Owen ages, his inhuman qualities become more and more prevalent, eventually
leading to the biggest indicator of all his death. In the novel, Owen Meany is willingly able to plan the
sacrifice of his own life in order to save the lives of others, showing he is a supernatural being. Owen
Meany was predestined to be a savior for the Vietnamese children and he had been preparing for this
sacrifice his entire life. From the time he was born, Owen was always special. His parents admitted
that he was unnatural when Mr. Meany exclaimed, She just conceived a child like the Christ Child.
(Irving 545). This shows that Owen s parents did not purposefully conceive him, but he was born for a
greater purpose. Later on in Owen s life, he has a vision of his grave and how he will die, which leads
him to prepare for his death. He saw his death so vividly, he knew Johnny would be present, therefore
he involves Johnny in his practice. Johnny explains, We practiced the shot for three or four days in a
row; of course, my part in this exercise was extremely limited, but I

Freeze And Thaw In Concrete
The Effects of Freeze and Thaw in Concrete
Most people think concrete is an impenetrable solid. But in actually, concrete is a porous material with
many capillaries and voids throughout the surface. Although concrete is strong in compressive
strength, it is weak in tensile stength and elasticity. Concrete can tolerate heavy loads, but it is
susceptible to damage which causes it to break apart over time.
One damaging effect is freezing water. When water melts, it absorbs into the pores and capillaries. As
the water freezes and expands, it weakens the strength of the concrete. This causes concrete scaling,
delamination, and cracking.
The freeze and thaw cycle isn t restricted to just northern climates. It also occurs in warmer climates
where the temperature drops below freezing at night, and rises above freezing during the day.
Sometimes deicing chemicals are applied to the surface to temporary lower the melting point of ice by

This will help prevent water absorption as well as expansion.
Another popular solution is replacing the soil with more porous alternatives, such as sand and gravel.
To divert water away from the foundation, you can also dig a subterranean reservoir on the property.
How the Freeze and Thaw Cycle Damages Foundations
Since the freeze and thaw cycle damages concrete surfaces, it can also cause shifts and cracks beneath
the home s foundation. Soil within a high water table are particularly problematic since they have poor
drainage around the property.
Although you can t prevent the freeze and thaw cycle, you can protect your foundation. At MFS

region for his own economic gain. In his Open letter in 1898 Leopold states that, ?I am pleased to
think that our agents, nearly all of whom are volunteers drawn from the ranks of the Belgian army,
have always present in their minds a strong sense of the career of honor in which they are engaged,
and are animated with a pure feeling of patriotism, not sparing their own blood, they will the more
spare the blood of the natives, who will see in them the all powerful protectors of their lives and their
property, benevolent teachers of whom they have so great a need? (article #1) This sentence directly
states the idea of imperialist thinking. The idea that the people of the Congo are uncivilized and
savage is the mindset of King Leopold during the time of Congo colonization. Leopold wishes to take
the Congo solely for his own advancement. Allow he says that he wishes to civilize the people there,
he does very little of that. The part in the letter where he says that it is better to spare their blood then

The Glass Menagerie By Tennessee Williams Essay
The Glass Menagerie, a play written by Tennessee Williams, is in a play full of emotion. The writer
envelopes his audience in a cloud of feelings, as he describes the lives of a family who faces poverty
and diversity each day of their lives( Williams 2013.) This play is situated in a little, poor loft. The
play happens inside the parlor and dining room of the loft. In the Glass Menagerie, the play focuses
itself on four characters. These four characters include: Amanda Wingfield, (the mother) and a ladies
of a confusing nature; Laura Wingfield, (the little girl) who is injuried from a childhood sickness, and
Tom Wingfield, (the more seasoned child) who feels caught and is searching for away out of the life
he is living and Jim (Tom s companion ) who is lost in the past when he was a star football player.
Williams characters are unequipped for living in this present reality. Amanda Wingfield uses sticking
to her recollections to escape from reality. She is from the old south. Her old molded method for living
keeps her fantasizing about when she used to go on McGuire 2rides to the ball with her noble men
guests. She stresses so much because she settled on terrible decisions in her own particular life.
Amanda is fantasizing at whatever point she needs to escape from the truth that she is poor and is not
going anyplace. She describes stories of ballsand moves, church socials and noble man guests. She
continues reminding herself, and everybody inthe room, that she was well

Lula s Stronger Ethical Dilemmas
Before moving ahead ethical values are defined as the values used to determine right and wrong.
Ethical dilemmas are therefore just dilemmas over whether something is right or wrong morally. Clay
shows stronger ethical values at the beginning of the play by acting very robust and masculine when
speaking with Lula. While Clay may have stared, he had acted completely calm until Lula is able to
make Clay snap and react to her mocking and offensive behavior. In a sense it can be said that Lula is
a very culturally relativistic individual because of her continued belief that none of what she had said
or done was wrong. Lula represents the value in good times and excitement, despite the consequences.

Adam Smith Wealth Of Nations
Born on June 16, 1723 in Kirkcaldy in the United Kingdom, Adam Smith revolutionized economics
and effectively founded modern economics with the concept of free market and GDP in his magnum
opus An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, as well as his concept of the
invisible hand, which regulates supply and demand naturally in an ideal free market. He also had
progressive views of human nature and how much involvement the government should have in the
market in his book The Theory of Moral Sentiments. He followed the theme of the Enlightenment in
proposing reason and critical thinking as the most important part in judgement and was practical and
rational in his theories about the tendencies of a free market and his theories on sympathy and its
effects on human behavior. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using reasoning and logical arguments characteristic of the Enlightenment, he shows that a free
market should be able to regulate itself with minimal government involvement. He says that humanity
s own self interest leads to an economy where everyone strives to produce goods and services that
result in maximum gain for themselves, meaning that they are producing things that are most
needed/useful in society, creating a self stabilizing economy the invisible hand concept. This thesis is
evident in his famous statement: It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker
that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest. We address ourselves not to their
humanity but to their self love, and never talk to them of our own necessities, but of their advantages.
In this quote, Adam Smith is explaining how people s desires for self gain end up supporting a
mutually beneficial free market economy where humanity s own greed leads to public

It would vastly change those processes. As an example, make a quick inventory of your HR processes
and put them into two categories: those that reinforce the self interest seeking behaviours of people,
and those that support their helping others. Look at concrete processes and mechanisms, not
abstractions like values which, unless translated and embedded in specific practices, have little effect
on behaviours. How long are the two lists? Can you do something to rebalance them?
One possible difficulty you may face is that you do not quite know what you can do to support the
more co operative behaviours. For example, what specific kind of incentive systems might you use?
What kind of decision making processes can you adopt? Structurally, too, what can you do to hardwire

Hydraulic Fracturing And Its Effects On The Environment
Hydraulic Fracturing
Introduction
For this assignment I have chosen to look in to a subject that is in the news media spotlight. The
subject is the process of hydraulic fracturing. In this paper, we will learn about this process by
answering the following questions. First what is hydraulic fracturing and what is the process used for.
Then we will look at the actual process of hydraulic fracturing (how it works). Next we will take a
closer look at some of the chemical use during the hydraulic fracturing process. Then we discuss the
possible environmental impacts if any caused by hydraulic fracturing? Finally, we will look some of
the measures being developed to mitigate the possible impact to the environment from hydraulic
fracturing.
What Is Hydraulic Fracturing And What Is It Used For? The term hydraulic fracturing (AKA fracking)
is a common term used in today s media in reference to the oil industry. But what is hydraulic
fracturing or fracking? hydraulic fracturing defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) as a process used to maximize the extraction of underground resources; including oil, natural
gas, geothermal energy, and even water (EPA, 2014). Simply put fluid and a mix of material and
chemicals are pumped into an already drilled well at high pressure to extract the desired resource (i.e.
natural gas) trapped within a solid such as shale rock, we will look at this process and the elements
used in it latter in this paper.

Kaleidoscope Eyes Analysis
Internal Comments:
No. While the idea that we choose to see the world either optimistically and pessimistically is
beautifully expressed throughout the poem, it comes across as trite in parts. The main idea of the poem
is not completely developed instead, the author spends too much time on unnecessary side characters.
In addition, there are several errors in terms of grammar as well as imprecise word choice.
To the First Reader:
Dear Denee Freeman, thank you for your commentary on submission 10405 ( Kaleidoscope Eyes ).

specific comments. In terms of things to work on, I would recommend being more gentle in your

The author does this by presenting a variety of snapshots of people with this grey world view,
lingering on the last snapshot of the family, to expand on the kaleidoscope view of the children. You re
obviously aware of how language impacts mood, and do a nice job choosing their words.
I wished this poem had more showing, instead of telling, such as with the failed marriage and the will
to continue living. I think more specificity in your images, would eliminate both some of the moments
where the poem borders on cliche as well as the moments that distance the reader from the snapshots.
Personal details with make the poem stronger, and feel like the reader is in your snapshot scenes.
The second note for revision I have for this poem is to think about the form. Right now the form isn t
particularly helping you, and in some places with the uneven spacing and unnecessary stanza breaks, it
actively hurts your poem. I would consider fewer stanzas personally. I wonder even about having a
very regimented line, stanza, or even a syllabic pattern, except for those lines speaking about
kaleidoscope eyes. Thank you so much for submitting to Polyphony H.S.; continue

The Pueblo Revolt Chapter 4 Summary
Throughout chapter six, seven, and eight of Knaut s book The Pueblo Revolt of 1680, he sets up the
scene and leads up to the events that caused The Pueblo Revolt. While the tail end of chapter eight
describes the actual revolt, most of the writing we read by Knaut describes the history leading up to
1680. In chapter 6, Knaut starts describing Spanish and Pueblo relation history in New Mexico
beginning around 1609. The colony of New Mexico was isolated from the rest of New Spain in
Mexico and this made it difficult for the colony. The six month journey from Mexico City to Santa Fe

In fact, Mestizos were so common that they eventually started to maintain Spanish roles which was
highly controversial to the Spanish empire down South. Yet one connector between the Hispanics and
Pueblo was the Hispanic quest to find cures for their ailments. Due to disease or social issues,
Hispanics would reach out to the indigenous people. Finally chapter 8, describes the loss of control
that the Spanish people faced leading up to 1680. The Native inhabitants population was already
weakened due to disease, but drought and thus famine in 1666 lowered the population of not only
Natives, but Hispanics as well. Tension occurred as the Spanish relied upon stored food while the
Pueblos starved. To make matters worse, Athabaskans raided the Pueblos and the Spanish were

order to retain what little control the Spanish had, they outlawed traditional Pueblo religious

Marquis De Lafayette Characteristics
Marquis de Lafayette was one of the biggest figures in American Revolution history. Lafayette was a
volunteer soldier in the American Revolution, he came with the sole purpose of avenging his father s
death against the English in the French and Indian wars. He soon grew to believe in the patriot s
beliefs of freedom and equality. Lafayette said, Defender of Liberty I idolize, myself more free than
anyone, as coming as a friend to offer my services to this intriguing republic... (Vowell 16). He also
showed great zeal for the cause of liberty (Vowell 1) which later helped him move up through the
ranks to the position of major general. The young Frenchman s first battle was the Battle of
Brandywine, where he fought alongside the prestigious George Washington. In this battle he was shot
in the leg and had to leave; but he cut short his recovery time so he could continue fighting. Lafayette
s fervor for the war won him the highly desired trust of General George Washington, which then led
him to be one of the most esteemed generals of all time. His dedication inspired many other French
soldiers to join the American cause. He was both a vocal defender and a great example by his
leadership and courage in the Revolutionary War. His most important battle was the Battle of
Yorktown in 1781. With his royal relations in France, he was able to transfer extra French military
officers and ships to aid the Americans in this momentous battle. Lafayette s skilled military sense was

Wage Inequality And Sex Work
Within various schools of feminist thought, wage inequality and sex work are often prime focuses.
Wage inequality, or the gender pay gap, is generally discussed as a broad problem affecting all
women. However, this broad approach often leaves out marginalized women, such as women of color,
poor women, trans women, queer women, and immigrant women, who experience wage inequality at
disproportionately higher rates than women who are not marginalized in these ways. The same lack of
intersectional focus colors discussions of sex work, which typically promote a victim/empowered
woman dichotomy that fails to account for the nuanced factors in place affecting women of color,
trans women, and immigrant women. While it is important that feminist ... Show more content on

This paper will refer to both domestic labor and women s labor in similar respects, but the two are not
necessarily interchangeable. The use of the phrase domestic labor refers to work done within the
home, particularly childcare, elderly care, and the upkeep of the household. The term women s work
or women s labor encompasses domestic labor, but not all women s labor is necessarily domestic. In
her chapter Industrialization, Wage Labor, and the Economic Gender Gap , Estelle Freedman describes
historically feminized fields of work that include other types of labor, such as industrial work in textile
mills, retail, clerical, and teaching jobs. When referring to sex work, Laura Agustin uses the term in
Migrants in the Mistress s House to encompass everything from prostitution, sexual services in bars,
clubs, and flats, erotic phone sex, peep shows, massage parlors, and lap dancing (110). However, she
often does not differentiate between sex work and domestic work because migrants often move
between these sectors or work in two at once, and because a separation into two groups reproduces a
scheme of good versus bad girls (97). For the sake of clarity, however, this paper will differentiate

Farm Descriptive Essay
The Farm Awakens
The arrival of the six children wearing wrinkled clothes and half shut eyes ironically revived the
empty ranch and brought life back into each and every crevice. The rusty gates creaked as they swung
open, revealing the world of tall grass and herds of cattle hidden deep in the hills of Nevada. Two cars,
filled to capacity, rolled up the dusty, dirt road leaving behind all sense of civilization. They arrived at
night. Thousands of white lights illuminated the sky normally blanketed by the bright streets back
home. The air smelled and felt fresh. The eerie quiet hid the sleeping animals, but because of the
grinding gravel and anxious screams of joy, the children s noise bounced between the mountain sides
and awoke the farm. Both cars parked in front of the white picket fence lining the house and duffle
bags dumped out the back of the SUV s filled with sweaters, toiletries, pants, blankets and pretty
much anything else they could fit. The strong, stocky fathers slung the bags over their shoulders and
brought them inside, turned on the lights, and the outside world was forgotten as they admired the

When the door opened, 5 pairs of boots stomped inside, shuffling their feet along the thick, bristly rug

Attraction and Contradictions of Life Essay
William Shakespeare in his play of Antony and Cleopatra has many suggestions on the topic of the
attractions and contradictions of the political and erotic life, but also of the suggesting of a third kind
of way of life that transcends the political and the erotic ones. Throughout the play Shakespeare
presents the emotions between Antony and Cleopatra in many different ways that could be interpreted
as love or even perhaps lust at times. Cleopatra was a woman of high maintenance, but yet she did
seem to love Antony a lot as she tried everything to keep him with her. At the beginning of this play

O er my spirit thy full supremacy thou knew st, and that thy beck might from the bidding of the gods,
command me. This quote shows that love and power are attractions of each other as Antony s love for
Cleopatra forces him to follow her. She is the commander of his actions, even in the political and
military areas of his life, because of his overpowering love for her. Power in the play is apparently a
political force, as the play turns around the competition between Antony and Caesar for dominance in
Rome. But it has other faces too, most notably the effect of love. Antony refuses to be dominated by
Caesar, but he willingly submits to Cleopatra. Power is thus a political and a personal force, one that
impacts the desires of both individuals. Caesar states that between love and political power, there is a
certain degree of interaction between both of the entities in life which I thus is a direct correlation. I

Britain s cooperation with the trade route involved the confiscation of the West African Coast and the
establishment of unkempt prisons to hold enslaved Africans awaiting purchase by overseas traders. In
1660 and 1663, Trade Acts passed in the British parliament, implying the dependency of overseas
slave traders on British goods, paralleling the rise of the sugar industry and attempts to establish
influence regarding governmental economic policies in line with slave trader interests. Money earned
from slave trade plantations aided in the generation of commerce for the British economy and an
increased development of new financial institutions. Subsequently, trading vessels, primarily
constructed in Liverpool, contained trade goods such as guns, ammunition, rum and cloth were
exchanged for slaves. Additionally to the objectification of the African peoples, the conditions of the
trade ships furthered the inhumanity of the exchange. A manuscript by Theophilus Conneau published
in 1854 exemplifies the reasoning behind their mistreatment through his account This discipline of
stowing them is of the greatest importance on board slavers; otherwise every Negro would
accommodate himself with all the comfortability of a cabin passenger... embodying the general

An Unacceptable Route For Real Success And Fulfillment
An Unacceptable Route to Real Success and Fulfillment We live in an era where the name of the
college an individual attended as well as the type of degree received has the ability to land a job seeker
on the door step of prestigious and established organizations while, on the other hand, one s inability
to prove his/her academic prowess by presenting a college degree is often greeted by a closed door
and no prospects for employment. Has college education turned out to be the only route to a
successful career? Escalating college cost which adds to a fresh college graduate s already
mountainous debt, along with the national unemployment rate, has led many people to wonder if
getting a college degree is really a necessity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He dispels the assumption that blue collar jobs are for illiterate and unintelligent individuals but rather
that a significant amount of teaching and learning, which may be informal and indirect, also takes
place on blue collar jobs. Rose states that the social and communicative dimension of physical work
provides the medium for much of a blue collar worker s intelligence. Having examined the reasoning
behind Hrabowski and Rose s views in their articles, I affirm that with proper planning, daily
enrichment on mastery of skills, as well as a dedication to one s career goals, an individual s decision
either to attend college or not to attend college will result in a fulfilling and successful career. Indeed,
I agree with Hrabowski s views that, Colleges prepare people for jobs, but more critically, they
prepare people for life (Hrabowski 260). In saying this, Hrabowski believes that attending college has
the ability to equip individuals with the skill needed in the workplace and outside of the workplace,
basically wherever one finds oneself. This may be due to the diverse courses offered by a school
which must be learned before a student is allowed to graduate. I agree that college exposes an
individual to diverse areas of learning and skill and so prepares a graduate for our diverse world. No

Essay On Chandragupta Maurya
The First Empire:The Rise of Chandragupta Maurya
Taking advantage of Alexander s death, Chandragupta Maurya, an Indian who may have known the
Macedonian conqueror, drove out the remaining Greek forces. He the subdued the tribes in the
northwest, marched east, and overthrew a kingdom located the Ganges. Taking over its capital city,
Pataliputra, he proclaimed himself ruler around 313 B.C.E.
Mauryan Dynasty
Maurya Empire
The Maurya Empire at its largest extent under Ashoka the Great
The Maurya Empire (322 185 BCE), A was powerful political and military empire in Ancient India
ruled by the Mauryan Dynasty. Originating from the kingdom along the Indo Gangetic plains , the
empire had its capital city at Pataliputra (near modern Patna). The Empire was founded in 322 BCE by

Musée Guimet.
At its greatest extent, the Empire stretched to the north along the natural boundaries of the Himalayas,
and to the east stretching into what is now Assam. To the west, it reached beyond modern Pakistan,
annexing Balochistan and much of what is now Afghanistan, including the modern Herat and
Kandahar provinces. The Empire was expanded into India s central and southern regions by the
emperors Chandragupta and Bindusara, but it excluded a small portion of unexplored tribal and
forested regions near Kalinga.
The Mauryan Empire was perhaps the largest empire to rule the Indian subcontinent. Its decline began
fifty years after Ashoka s rule ended, and it dissolved in 185 BCE with the foundation of the Sunga
Dynasty in Magadha.
Under Chandragupta and his successors, both internal and external trade, and agriculture and
economic activities, all thrived and expanded across India thanks to the creation of a single and
efficient system of finance, administration and security. After the Kalinga War, the Empire
experienced half a century of peace and security under

Comparing Low-Carbohydrate Diets and Low-Fat Diets Essay
Comparing Low Carbohydrate Diets and Low Fat Diets
The two diets I will be focusing on are comparing the low carbohydrate diet or the Atkins diet to low
fat diets. The low carbohydrate diet on one hand restricts the amount of carbohydrate a person
consumes, resulting in greater weight loss after six months compared to low fat diets. The low fat diet,
on the other hand, allows people to lose weight by restring the amount of fat they consume on a daily
basis thus causing the person to lose weight as well, but not as much as they would have had they been
on a low carbohydrate diet for the pass six months. Although a person initially loses less weight on the
low fat diet, they eventually lose the same amount ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Insulin is what allows our body cells to store fat, which is not what a person wants when they are
trying to lose weight. However this diet claims to work, there are other options out there beside this
diet, one of which is the low fat diet.
The low carbohydrate or the Atkins diet is usually compared to low fat diets, a diet that follows very
different rules. The low fat diet on the other hand encourages people to eat carbohydrates, the diet
actually tells people to replace foods that are high in fat with foods such as vegetables, fruits, and
pastas. The low fat diet asks followers to eat what the Atkins diet asks people to avoid. While the low
carbohydrate diet stresses that people avoid carbohydrates and replace it with foods that are protein
and fat rich, such as meats, cheeses, and fish. The low fat diet stresses that people should avoid these
types of foods that have a lot of fat and eat foods that have a lot of protein and carbohydrates to fill a
person up. The low fat diet unlike the Atkins diet, allows people to center their diets around having a
lot of fruits and vegetables. The low fat diets also claim that by not eating fatty foods such as beef and
other red meats like
Atkins suggests, it can lower a person s cholesterol, thus help prevent things such as heart disease
according to previous research. Some followers claim that the low fat diet is actually easier to follow
because it

Angle Analysis Lab Report The table shows me that Image E gives a very accurate value, correct to the nearest thirty seconds and meaning my precision in calculating angles has achieved an average (mean) between 0.1 and 0.2 degrees from the true value. The range (difference between small and largest values) is also less that 5% of the average result, suggesting that my angle calculations with different star trails produced repeatable results. However, Image D is at the complete opposite end of the spectrum, giving a value wildly out by over 14 hours when minute precision is required. This margin of difference is so large that it cannot possibly be caused by measurement errors of the angles, as using the known value for the sidereal day, if the angle were 9.8 degrees ... Therefore, it is possible that using interval timer photography for all of the images would produce a more accurate result, as human error is largely removed as a problem in the timing stage, although issues are still possible when setting up the equipment. Moreover, this improvement is also only based on three images, a small sample size and an unfortunately anecdotal suggestion. However, it would be an extension to see if a repeat of the observation produced the greatest accuracy with interval timer photography images a second time round, which would suggest that the most accurate result can be achieved with this ... For as long as I remember my work days have consisted of my waking up, working, coming home and hitting the sack as soon as possible. With a proper diet, I have hopes of not only having more energy for work, but also for after work activities. There are so many things that I just cannot accomplish on my limited days off work. • 6. Civic Engagement Speech In June of 2017 a close friend and I established a county wide political club designed specifically for teenagers. Our club was founded on the ideals that we thought were most critical for political success among teenagers. First and foremost, we wanted to encourage teens to get civically engaged. I believe, vehemently, that through civic engagement, especially among teens, we are able to bring forward the change the we aspire to. As someone who is absolutely enthralled with volunteering on campaigns because of the, almost tangible, atmosphere of change that exists in a campaign office, I believe that civic engagement is of the utmost importance to bringing upon change. Secondly, we wanted to offer high school students a place where they could air their frustrations with the current political climate. The last 8, and arguably 12, months have been incredibly tumultuous. Our current president has chosen to demean and belittle minorities across the country. • 13. The Absolute Ego During this paper I will discuss Fichte s ideas on the absolute ego and how it pertains to the idea of God. I will also discus the similarities and also the differences between Fichte and Smakra as outlined by Lewis. I will then conclude with my remarks and thoughts upon the subject matter. Fichte was an idealist. This is the belief that nothing is known to us except ideas. Since this was the belief of Fichte he avoided dualism and instead believed that only that which is in and for consciousness can be assumed to exist. Fichte thus proceeded to explain experience as the product of intelligence in itself. This idea of intelligence in itself is the ego. To understand this further we must think the wall , once you think the wall then think of the person who thought the wall, and thus you could go on indefinitely. This shows that no matter how we try to objectify the self there always remains the pure ego. Furthermore, all can intellectually intuit the pure ego. This is further explained that anyone who is conscious of an action as his own is aware of himself acting. Once someone recognizes that an action is their own, the person is able to reflect on their self consciousness and will realize that they can intuit the pure ego as an infinite activity. The pure ego itself is not conscious; the pure ego becomes conscious through the philosophers activity directed towards the pure ego as an activity. Once this occurs the pure ego posits itself. Abraham Lincoln s Boyhood Home From The Age Of 7 Indiana, Abraham Lincoln s boyhood home from the age of 7 to 21, has memorialized our 16th president with two statues in its capital city of Indianapolis. Both statues were controversial from the beginning whether because of the amount of money it would take to pay for them or their placement. The first statue was erected in 1934 and simply entitled Abraham Lincoln. This statue was funded by a trust fund established by Henry C. Long, a wealthy lumberman to be used after his wife s death, the trust fund was said to have $10,000 $25,000 in it. Long s stipulation was that with this money a statue honoring Lincoln would be built in the southeast corner of University Park. Architects of the park were hesitant to include the statue because it would spoil the artistic symmetry of the park. Finally, the Judge Smiley N. Chambers ordered the statue to be put up and granted the city access to the fund that housed the $16,800 it would cost to build the statue. The man who was commissioned to sculpt the statue was Henry Hering of New York. Henry had done some statuary work previously in the memorial shrine in the park. His work upon the memorial is entitled Pro Patria, and when it was erected in 1929 it was the largest bronze cast in the United States. This doesn t only have an extreme burden on those incarcerated and their families, but also on the federal government. The first studied found there was a strong correlation between the rate at which someone is arrested for an offense and the rate of the same offense (Tittle and Rowe, 1974). This was mostly seen in robberies, when a robber was arrested the rate of robberies would slightly decrease. This poses two reason of the decrease, either the other people who frequently rob people do it less frequently because they are frightened to also be arrested, or that the robber who was arrested was a repeat offender. This is interesting because it doesn t have to be one or the other, the reality is that there is most likely a mix of both happening. This effect was examined by another researcher who coined the term the tipping effect, and understood that clearance rates only affect some crime rates and not in others depending on the offense (Bailey n.d.). This means that the clearance of a crime, which is the closing of an open case, either by arrest, death, etc. could not always positively impact the crime rate. This is not only a difference in violent crimes and property crimes because there was a negative association found in property crimes and clearance rates (Logan, 1975). This poses four main problems, first the fact that crime rates and clearance rates directly influence each other. This is a major road block that is preventing the causal effect of the independent variable on the crime ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It sounds strange, but one person in particular was eager to do just that Owen Meany. In John Irving s A Prayer for Owen Meany, Owen makes many sacrifices, his biggest sacrifice being his own life. In the beginning of the novel, Owen comes across as slightly different with his minuscule size and high pitched voice, but as the novel progresses and Owen ages, his inhuman qualities become more and more prevalent, eventually leading to the biggest indicator of all his death. In the novel, Owen Meany is willingly able to plan the sacrifice of his own life in order to save the lives of others, showing he is a supernatural being. His parents admitted that he was unnatural when Mr. Meany exclaimed, She just conceived a child like the Christ Child. (Irving 545). This shows that Owen s parents did not purposefully conceive him, but he was born for a greater purpose. But in actually, concrete is a porous material with many capillaries and voids throughout the surface. Although concrete is strong in compressive strength, it is weak in tensile stength and elasticity. Concrete can tolerate heavy loads, but it is susceptible to damage which causes it to break apart over time. One damaging effect is freezing water. When water melts, it absorbs into the pores and capillaries. As the water freezes and expands, it weakens the strength of the concrete. This causes concrete scaling, delamination, and cracking. The freeze and thaw cycle isn t restricted to just northern climates. It also occurs in warmer climates where the temperature drops below freezing at night, and rises above freezing during the day. Can you do something to rebalance them? One possible difficulty you may face is that you do not quite know what you can do to support the more co operative behaviours. The subject is the process of hydraulic fracturing. In this paper, we will learn about this process by answering the following questions. First what is hydraulic fracturing and what is the process used for. Then we will look at the actual process of hydraulic fracturing (how it works). Next we will take a closer look at some of the chemical use during the hydraulic fracturing process. Then we discuss the possible environmental impacts if any caused by hydraulic fracturing? Finally, we will look some of the measures being developed to mitigate the possible impact to the environment from hydraulic fracturing. What Is Hydraulic Fracturing And What Is It Used For?
