History of Film Exhibition Prior to 1927
While the actual films produced during the silent era of American film production and distribution are
frequently discussed and analyzed, both as primary historical documents and important cultural
contributions, the actual practice of exhibiting and viewing those films gets somewhat less attention.
Prior to 1927 (the year when sound films first emerged onto the national stage), movie exhibition in
the United States was still growing into the massive industry it represents today, and it reflected in the
films being produced. By examining the history of film exhibition prior to 1927 in general, and the
experiences of Denver and New York in particular, it will be possible to understand how the medium s
nearly thirty year existence prior to sound was characterized by a chaotic, open ended exhibition
system that nevertheless predicts the gradual takeover of exhibition by a few large chains. To begin it
is necessary to note that there was some precedent for the exhibition of films even before the medium
was created, because by the time film became widely known in the 1890s, phonographs had been set
up in the arcades found in the heart of bustling cities, where for a few cents customers could select
various music and speeches, which they listen to through individual ear horns (Gomery 4). Early film
exhibitions attempted to recreate this process, using Thomas Edison s Kinetograph to draw customers
into arcades, even though the concept of individual audiences make much more

Breastfeeding Should Be Allowed In Public
Breastfeeding is natural and breast milk is the best nutritional choice for infants. Breastfeeding helps
babies to fight infections, prevent allergies and diarrhea, and protects against several chronic
conditions, breast milk contains antibodies that help infants fight off viruses and bacteria, and is easy
for an infant s stomach to digest. Also, breastfeeding helps the infant and the mother to bond and it can
help the mothers to lose extra calories fast, which they gained during pregnancy. However,
breastfeeding in public tends to be controversial, and breastfeeding mothers are forced to use the
public bathroom to feed their babies. If anyone of us can have our lunch or dinner in public, why
shouldn t a breastfed baby has the same rights? And who wants to have lunch in the bathroom?
Women should breastfeed anywhere except in the bathroom. women have a legal right to breastfeed
her babies in public, and women s breast is created to nurture babies. People argue breastfeeding in
public is indecent exposure and unconformable to those who are watching a mother nursing a child.
Breastfeeding in public shouldn t bother other people because it is unrealistic to expect mothers to
feed their babies in places like bathrooms.

The Common Man In Bolt s A Man For All Season
In the play, A Man for All Season, Bolt narrates the play through use of The Common Man. The
Preface of A Man for All Season, states that the play is not a straight forward narration, though more
comparable to a poem. (Bolt, 1960:xvii). The Common Man comments on the action and characters in
numerous asides as well as change costume on stage and indicates the locations. The asides extend the
idea that The Common man s moral character is not so detached from society s, by removing himself
from the actions he is able to conveniently disassociates himself from More s supposed treasonous
acts. This is portrayed in the following lines I d let him out if I could but I can t. Not without taking up
residence in there myself. And he s in there already, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning of the play, Iago confesses I am not what I am (Shakespeare, 2003:I.i.66). Hampton
Reeves (2010:37) argues that Iago is the self proclaimed narrator of Othello, however, the most
unreliable narrator to date. Iago s substantial use of asides also reveals his cleverness; he is able to not
only direct but also to remark on the action of the play. Iago speaks his soliloquies before Othello, this
draws the audience into his point of view. Iago s use of soliloquies supports his power of words.
Shakespeare forces the audience to connive with the villain when he addresses the audience. We see
Othello through Iago s narration. The opposition between Iago and Othello supports the idea of a
foreign moor being positioned higher than a white Venison. When taking into consideration the point
of view established by Iago, it is clear that Shakespeare was highly influenced by the global
controversy over racial differences and origin during the Renaissance (Vaughan, 1996:5). As Iago is
undeniably jealous of Othello his narrative point of view cannot be trusted as it is based on a
subjective vendetta that he manifested in his words and actions towards

discharge from the hospital. They are provided teaching about breastfeeding at home and offered
community health and peer group programs to guide them after their discharge (BCC, 2012).
How BFI Meets the Requirements of Health Promotion
The main focus of the Baby Friendly Initiative strategy is to promote successful breastfeeding and
support the mother through out the process (Pound Unger, 2017). This strategy encourages mothers to
breastfeed for at least up to 6 months (Pound Unger, 2017). This is accomplished by teaching mothers
about the importance of breastfeeding, advantages and disadvantages of breastfeeding and proper
breastfeeding techniques (Pound Unger, 2017). The educating process in the BFI starts from
pregnancy until post partum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of them is disagreement regarding the valid use of 10 Step process (Cadwell Turner Maffei,
2004). Prenatal teaching programs have limited number of staff to provide teaching prenatal teaching
(Cadwell Turner Maffei, 2004). Immediate Postpartum assessments have become a priority before
breastfeeding (Cadwell Turner Maffei, 2004). This is preventing the BFI focus of mother and baby
bonding and breastfeeding right after birth, because important that the mother and the baby bonds for
the first hour after birth (BCC, 2012). The health care workers have limited time with each patient,
due to this reason conducting assessment and patient teaching is limited (Cadwell Turner Maffei,
2004). Patient s misconceptions about complications of breastfeeding may discourage them from
accessing the BFI program (Cadwell Turner Maffei, 2004). Different cultural practises can dis courage
mother from accessing or following the BFI (Cadwell Turner Maffei, 2004). Patient unknowing about
the BFI or other services can prevent them from accessing the program or from seeking support
(Cadwell Turner Maffei, 2004). Women who live in rural areas in third world countries, where they
have no access to medical assistance have a lower chance of accessing the BFI program (Penwell,
2010). Women who choose to free birth or unassisted birth at home have a lower chance of accessing
or participating in the BFI program (India Parenting, 2016).

Benefits Of The Minimum Legal Driving Age
Minimum legal driving age should not increase to age 18, due to accidents caused by teens. Rising the
driving age will not help decrease the rate of teen accidents. The foremost reason for their high
accident rate is because of lack of experience. Second are the distractions. This paper will present why
the minimum legal driving age should not increase and the benefits for teens to begin driving at age
16. Reasons why increasing the driving age will not reduce accident rate among teens or new drivers
is because they will still be in the stage of learning and maturing into responsible adults and will lack
the hands on driving experience from parents.
According to the Nation Teen Driving Statistics, a total of 2,823 teenagers ages 13 19 died in motor
vehicle crashes in 2012. In 2012, 60 percent of deaths among passenger vehicle occupants ages 16 19
were drivers (RMIIA, 2015). Increasing the driving age due to immaturity would cause mass
punishment for the age group of 15 18 young drivers. What needs to happen is to address the cause of
most motor vehicle accidents and address the issue. Parents are responsible for signing documentation
that gives their consent of their child being able to drive. Many people believe the reason for teen
accidents is because they are immature but, the reason may be due to distractions. Distractions are the
leading cause of accidents for young teens. Allowing teens to start driving will give them a little
responsibility as a young teenager.

Unconditoinal Positive Regard Pros And Cons
Blog 2
Unconditional positive regard a concept developed by the late psychologist Carl Rogers back in the
1960 s. Unconditoinal positive regard is to accept and respect others without judgement and I would
argue a determining factor in the rapport building process; it is a key element of our work as
therapists, both in the office and out in the field of our adventure therapy programs.
As Will recently mentioned in a previous blogpost, uncondtional positive regard and genuine warmth
are the best relationship building tools we have. As research strongly suggests, relationship factors
(alliance) between therapist and client make up to 30% of the key elements for positive outcomes.
Studies also suggest that a huge number of people report

The Retail Industry Is Highly Competitive, With Few Barriers
The retail industry is highly competitive, with few barriers to entry. Each Company competes with
many other local, regional and national retailers for customers, associates, locations, merchandise,
services and other important aspects of the Company s business. Those competitors include other
department stores, discounters, home furnishing stores, specialty retailers, wholesale clubs, direct to
consumer businesses and other forms of retail commerce. Some competitors are larger than JCPenney,
have greater financial resources available to them, and, as a result, may be able to devote greater
resources to sourcing, promoting and selling their products. There are many factors that characterize

There will be several more in 2018. The merchandise is attractive and offered at very cheap prices.
The concept is extremely appealing to young people on a tight budget. Primark will present a
competitive challenge for every promotional retailer selling apparel, fashion jewelry, and various
seasonal and home novelties. Aldi s will be expanding with 400 stores in the United States to keep up
on pressure price. It is a privately held German retailer, known for cheap prices on private brand food
products, being sold in rudimentary stores, has recently included inexpensive fashion to its
availability. This will be a competitive factor for low priced retailers. Nordstrom s Rack, which has
167 stories at the end of this year, will add an additional 25 stores in 2017. This is certainly a sign that
fashion customers are continuing to endorse that company s low priced effort. They scoop up fashion
merchandise, especially shoes, at very discounted prices. Neiman Marcus is now expanding their Last
Call stores to compete more aggressively with The Rack. Macy s is constantly drumming up consumer
interest with another sale I think they ran about 80 sales last year. They are well aware that the
millennial customer looks for value in department stores. There were similar short duration sale events

Along with electricity and water, district cooling constitute a new form of energy service. District
cooling is measured in refrigeration ton which is equivalent to 12000 BTU s per hour. Refrigeration
Ton is the unit measure for the amount of heat removed. Refrigeration Ton is defined as the heat
absorbed by one ton of ice (2000 pounds) causing it to melt completely by the end of one day (24
hours). District cooling systems can replace any type of air conditioning system, but primarily
compete with air cooled reciprocating chiller systems serving large buildings which consume large
amounts of electricity. This air conditioning system is subject to a difficult operating environment,
including extreme heat, saline humidity and windborne sand. Over time, performance, efficiency and
3 reliability suffer, leading to significant maintenance costs and ultimately to equipment
replacement. The process involves the following. ο‚· ο‚· ο‚· ο‚· ο‚· A central plant chills water A primary
water circuit then distributes the chilled water to customers buildings through an underground
insulated pipes network A secondary water circuit in the customers building circulates the cold water
Air is then forced past the cold water tubing to produce an A/C environment The warmer water of the
primary circuit is returned to the central plant to be re chilled and recycled Benefits of District Cooling

Abraham Lincoln And The Civil War Essay
Introduction
The Civil War was a war between the union, and confederate states in the United States that occurred
from 1861 1865. Many people believed that the Civil War was about slavery and southern states right
to defend their states rights. The confederates were fighting for their liberty and independence under
the leadership of Abraham Lincoln, who they felt was a tyrant. However, the union, was fighting to
preserve their territory, that was created by their founding fathers from chaos and dismemberment.
President Jefferson Davis believed that the civil war was based on the confederate rights to secede
from the union. Jefferson also felt that Abraham Lincoln was to blamed for the start of the civil war,
since he was against slavery. Lincoln s intended goal was to preserve the union, he claimed slavery
was not the reason. If I could save the union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could
save it by freeing all slaves I would do it, and if I could slave it by freeing some and leaving others
alone I would also do that (Shi Tindall, 2015, pg.465) . Lincoln told everyone that if the southern
states were to return to the union that slavery would still exist. However, many people believed that
Lincoln wasn t being truthful.
Geographical Regions
During this time frame The United States consisted of three geographic regions, the north, south, and
the west. There was a lot of competition between these regions, the question of whether slavery should

Occurrences Of Natural Disaster Or Man-Made Disaster
Final literature review
Introduction
Occurrences of natural disaster or man made disaster have increased this last decade thus there is a
constant need to provide humanitarian support to population affected by such disasters. Means of
communications are vital to manage rescues operation during down time. However, in worst case
scenario most of the infrastructures are getting damaged. Therefore, it is essential to restore
communications within the disaster zone. This literature review is divided in three main stages, which
are the consequences of a natural disaster, the need of communication and the solutions available to
provide communication to the population.
Disaster consequences
The Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED, 2009) defines a disaster as an
unforeseen event that causes destruction and resulted in a high number of civilian casualties, that
overwhelms local capacity and request international assistance. Alexander (2014) agrees An
emergency is defined as an exceptional event that exceeds the capacity of normal resources and
organization to cope with it .
Impacts of disaster are usually measured by the cost of direct and indirect losses. What is meant by
Indirect losses are losses of employment, temporary unemployed resulting from business disruption
caused by building collapsing (National Research Council U.S, 1989) thus the impact can last for an
indeterminate period of time (Alexander, 2014b) therefore the cost of Indirect losses caused by natural
disasters are difficult to quantified. Whereas direct losses encompass physical destruction, casualties,
communication loss, transportation, and emergency response. (National Research Council U.S, 1999).
Munich Re (1989, cited in Hoeppe, 2016) states that cost of losses caused by natural disaster have
extremely increased since 1950 mainly because of population growth and the complexity of
infrastructures in modern societies.
The professor Rahman defines the complex relationship between infrastructures as infrastructures
interdependencies where each node is known as a Critical Infrastructures. According to Moteff and
Parfomak (2004) a CI is a system that if disrupted can lead to serious issues on the wellbeing of
society.

Abolishing The Gambia, New Zealand And Singapore
Chapter 5: Abolishing the JCPC in The Gambia, New Zealand and Singapore
5.1: Introduction
Based on the importance of the role the judiciary plays in POGG, I theorize that states will choose a
final appellate court that is likely to uphold its policies when challenge. The quantitative analysis
presented in Chapter 4 provides evidence that across the all 28 states in the sample the
probabily.............. This chapter presents a closer look at three states that retained the JCPC at
independence and subsequently abolished the right of appeal. The goal is to increase our
understanding of the factors that influence the decision to abolish all appeals to the JCPC in The
Gambia, New Zealand and Singapore. Firstly, I argue that states are more likely to perceive a
disconnect with the JCPC based on their level of success before the JCPC in cases where the state is a
party to the proceedings. Secondly, cases where the state is the appellant may be particularly salient.
In these cases, the state has decided to use public resources to challenges the decision of a lower
domestic appeals court decision. This indicates that the state takes the challenge very seriously and
would like a final appellate court that is likely to uphold its policies. Finally, I argue that change in the
governing political coalition will influence the view of the court a partner. Seow (1997) asserts that
less democratic or more authoritarian states are likely to be more sensitive to JCPC decisions that do
not uphold the

Phonological Process Disorder
A phonological process is a typical pattern that all young children use when developing their speech.
The child s brain creates rules to simplify speech sounds and make words easier to say. As children
grow older, they outgrow these patterns on their own and eventually, their speech becomes intelligible.
A phonological process disorder is when a child continues to exhibit these patterns past the age
expected for them to disappear. Phonological processes consist of syllable structure processes,
substitution process, and assimilation processes. Syllable structure process focuses on how the child
pronounces certain syllables in a word by adding, repeating, or omitting a syllable. Unstressed syllable
deletion is a multisyllabic word. When saying

The first job is simply an extension of your education, and what you learn from it will lead to your

rather a relationship to cultivate and learn from ( Who becomes a graphic designer? , 1). Getting the
first job in the industry is far more important than where it may be. Having experience somewhere is
better than having none at all. No matter who the client is, it s the designers chance to put their ideas
and creativities into action. The design thinking and crafting must be shown in everything you do.
Even if it s as small as a business card or PowerPoint presentation. Your first job may not be the job

highest levels, they work in a variety of contexts. May be working in house on a design team, for
yourself, for someone who runs their own business, in partnership with another designer, for a large
advertising industry, small branding firm, large design studio, small design studio, and everything in

Introduction
In early decades of the 18th century, privatization had been introduced into the market. This new
economy reforms started in western world, followed further by its implementation in Asian region in
later years. Privatization is a policy whereby the ownership of an entity or controlling right of an

This may results to either two conditions increase in unemployment rate or decreases in standard of
living due to cost saving policy implemented by the privatized firm.
Secondly, privatization also affects the welfare of the society as a whole. This can be explained by
examining again the orientation of the firm after being privatized. Theoretically, economic efficiency
can be divided into two categories, namely productive efficiency and allocative efficiency. Productive
efficiency is achieved if firms produce goods and services demanded by consumer, while allocative
efficiency is achieved if the goods produced were marketed to the right people. Right people here
means people who demands for the goods and capable to pay for it. Results from privatization is, the
market now will replace the real needs of people with those demanded item, given that it will yield
high profit for the firm. For example, basic needs like tap water and electricity is not available in
certain rural areas, but firms compete with each other to bid for mega projects in big cities. Here, firms
are no longer concern with their social responsibility towards public, but only interested in making
huge profit.

Saint Katharine Drexel Essay
Katharine once said, Christ wishes the Christian Community to be a body that is perfect because we
work together towards a single end, and the higher the motive which actuates this collaboration the
higher, no doubt, will be the union. Now the end in question is supremely exalted: the continuous
sanctification of the Body for the glory of God and the Lamb that was slain. (A Z Quotes). This quote
describes Katharine s way of working towards creating her orphanages and schools with her order.
Despite overcoming many difficulties in her earlier life, Saint Katharine Drexel created her own
religious order, donated generously to charities, and established schools to teach the faith the others;
consequently, she is one of the most dynamic missionary saints from America.
Saint Katharine Drexel was born in Philadelphia on November 26, 1858 to Hannah Langstroth and
Francis Anthony Drexel (Wallace). Hannah grew ill and later died on January 29, 1883. In February of
1885, her father became ill and later died from that illness (Wallace). After the death of her parents,

The Demand For Medical Care
As a concerned constituent within your district, I am writing to inform you about the ever increasing
medical costs. Though costs for just about everything have increased over the past few years, medical
costs seem to increase almost exponentially. While this is not a concern for some individuals, many
individuals struggled to pay the bills even when medical costs were lower than they are now. This
issue can be explained best using indifference curve analysis, that is, various combinations of two or
more goods or services that provide equal levels of satisfaction. The demand for medical care is an
interesting topic that public policymakers deal with all the time. They attempt to identify what the

than the actual demand. While it may seem backwards that there is more supply of care when
considering the scarcity of open appointment times at doctor s offices, there are still medical staff in
the hospital and other outpatient care facilities that are not necessarily being utilized to their full
potential. According to the indifference curve, many people would be satisfied with convenient care at
a low cost by scheduling an appointment through their primary physician. However, this is not always
possible. Even though individuals would prefer seeing their primary care physician for almost any
ailment or condition, sometimes that is not possible. If individuals are involved in accidents or require
immediate medical attention they require the care of an outpatient clinic or emergency room physician
to return to normal activities and become healthy again. Though they prefer the care of their primary
physician due to the fact that the patient has probably been to them for almost any checkup or health
emergency, they would still accept the care of the emergency room team, given their level of
satisfaction with the care provider is as high as

Racial Racism In Gary Disher s The Divine Wind
Gary Disher s socially provocative Australian historical drama novel The Divine Wind (1998) set in
the Australian pearling town of Broome, provides a thought provoking and contemporary outlook on
racial prejudice, isolation and the loss of rights to adulthood during the onset of World War11. Disher
establishes this through a range of characters of differing ages and cultural backgrounds, evoking a
war devastated Australia and its effects on young adults forced to leave their childhood behind.
Written as a series of melancholic recollections, the seemingly simple novel conveys the messages of
a violent history, as it explores the complexity of the relationships between racially diverse characters
during the onset of WW11. The novel follows a young and ambitious Hartley Penrose who faces
challenges with discovering his maturity/identity, serving as a transition from his past to his future.
The Divine Wind utilizes the characters ideas, experiences, beliefs, and values to explore the central
themes, the racial prejudice between the white race and other ethnicities, the regional and urban divide
and the growing up and loss of rights to adulthood. The Divine Wind utilizes conventions and ideas
from the drama genre to communicate these central themes which are still prevalent in today s modern
society.
The racist attitudes of the time are personified by the subordinate characters in the book.
Racisms plays a key role in Disher s novel The Divine Wind and it still plays a

The Narrative Paradigm
The narrative paradigm is a communication theory that argues the strengths of storytelling over
argumentative communication. Narrative is any verbal and nonverbal interpretation which is arranged
logically to generate a meaning. This communication process is influenced by the experiences and
other factors from the past. The concept upholds the idea that communication happens between a
narrator and the listener in the form of a story. The story includes the events that the narrator wants to
communicate with the listener and does not fit in a single category. The theory has several principals
and assumptions in support of its claim. The objective of this research essay is to discover the
importance of Walter Fisher s famous theory and how it can be used to solve real life problems. There
s been a recent increase in what critics are calling dark humor advertisement. Dark comedy is a comic
style that makes light of subject matter that is generally considered to be a taboo. Though the benefits
of advertising are widely recognized, some critics still question its ethicality. Historically, scholars
have criticized advertising for the way it influences our society primarily because of its potential
implications such as stereotyping, influence on children and sexual pre occupation. The theory of
narrative paradigm can be used as a perspective tool to evaluate potential moral and ethical issues in
advertisement, because it offers a series of criteria that reason with effective

Joseph Plumb Martin Essay
Joseph Plumb Martin was born upon the twenty first of November, in the year of 1760 (Martin 6). His
grandparents raised him on their Connecticut farm. Inspired by the Battles of Lexington and Concord
he decided to enlist into the army. He was eager to help for the patriotic cause. In June of 1776, at the
age of 15, Martin was able to enlist but didn t want to sign up for a long enlistment. Soldiers at the
time were enlisting for a year s service but he did not like that and thought it was too long a time for
him for the first trial, I wished only to take a priming before I took upon me the whole coat of paint for
a soldier (Martin 16). Orders soon came allowing men to enlist for six months so Martin enrolled in

He goes on to explain the living conditions he had to endure and his lack of sleep. It was utterly
impossible to lie down and to get any rest or sleep on account of the mud Martin recalls, and can say
in sincerity that I never lay down to sleep a minute in all that time (Martin 77). The fighting at Fort
Mifflin allowed Washington and his troops to withdraw to winter quarters at Valley Forge. It was too
late in the season for the British to follow them.
After arriving at Valley Forge Martin and his fellow soldiers were about to go through the famously
long cold winter that awaited them. Martin wrote, Our prospect was indeed dreary. In our miserable
condition, to go into the wild woods and build us habitations to stay (not to live) in, in such a weak,
starved and naked condition, was appalling in the highest degree (Martin 89). He talks about lying
there two nights and one day, and had not a morsel of any thing to eat all the time (Martin 90).
Martin describes the travel and the toll it took on men. I had now to travel the rest of the day, after
marching all the day and night before and fighting all the morning. I had eaten nothing since the noon
of the preceding day, nor did I eat a morsel til the forenoon of the next day, and I needed rest as much
as victuals. After the army had collected again and recovered from their panic, we were kept marching

The Importance Of Observation On Human Development
1. Observation: A 53 year male who has spent frequent amount of time working in a warehouse which
requires a lot of lifting of heavy objects and seems to have strained his lower back and is having
weakness in his right leg. In addition, the patient has a weak patellar reflex in his right leg and a
normal patellar reflex in his left leg. However, his calcaneal reflex response for both legs was normal.
2. Question: Does this man have a herniated disk in the lumbar region of his spine and if so which
lumbar is herniated and how is affecting the functioning of his legs and what we can to fix that.
3. Hypothesis: Based on his age, the strenuous lifting that he does in his job, I suspect that he has
herniated Nucleus Pulposus from either L2 to L4. The compression of the dorsal divisions of the
ventral rami of his lumbar spine is causing his femoral nerve to not properly work on his right leg.
4. Prediction: I predict that he has a herniated lumbar disk on L3 or L4 caused by improper lifting and
due to his increased age, which has made his bones more brittle. Consequently, I predict he will
experience some weakness in his right leg, when he is standing or trying to lift something.
Consequently, he will experience pain since the dorsal horn compressed along with the ventral horned
being compressed.
5. Test: The tests we perform is an MRI of his lumbar spine, and I also want to test his skin sensations
via a prick test on his leg to see if the dorsal root ganglia of his L3 or L4 is damaged, since right now
it just appears that his ventral root of his L3 or L4 is damaged since he has a muscle weakness
suggesting that the right ventral horn is being compressed by the right lumber vertebrae body.
6. Conclusion: Yes, he has a herniated disk on L3 which was confirmed by the MRI showed that he
had a herniated nucleus pulposus of the L3 disc and he had some mild sensation loss in his right leg. A
herniated disk is a disk that has slipped or ruptured. Herniated discs are more common as one gets
older since the bones become more brittle overtime prone to rupture under stress such as heavy lifting.
Consequently, our patient is 53 is and due to his age, he did rupture his L3 disc due to improper lifting.

Civil War Dbq Essay
When the Civil War erupted at the attack on Fort Sumter in 1861, fighting was mainly driven by
political tensions, all of which ultimately spawned from the question of slavery. During the
Antebellum Period, the United States experienced a gradually intensifying sectional conflict that
threatened the unity of the nation. Compromises between the North and South had become futile.
Contrary to popular belief, the goals of Lincoln and the North did not involve the emancipation of
slaves and restoration of equality and the opportunity of prosperity for all Americans. Most
Northerners fought to preserve the newly split Union, while Southerners fought to protect what they
believed to be inalienable states rights. Ultimately, precarious African American ... Show more content

Though this statement only freed slaves in regions still participating in rebellion, it demonstrated a
shift in purpose and gave the North moral justification to fight in the war. By thrusting themselves into
the war effort, African Americans changed a war based on political disagreements and state power into
a war to terminate and forever prohibit slavery. (Doc. D) This document may be considered bias,
especially by Confederate sympathizers, because it was written by members of the Republican Party
platform most of which heavily advocated emancipation. Lincoln, who initially remained neutral on
the topic of slavery, became inspired by the willingness with which African Americans stake their
lives for us, they must be prompted by the strongest motive even the promise of freedom. And the
promise being made, must be kept. (Doc. C) Therefore, the willing participation of blacks in the Civil
War with the hopes of achieving freedom caused an entirely new goal of the war to form in the

Bachelor Tour Essay
I bought my ticket to the Death of a Bachelor tour in late November and have been anxiously
anticipating the show since. With incredible production, enticing setlists, and crowd enthusiasm to
boot, Panic! At The Disco did not disappoint.
First on the bill was Saint Motel (β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†). While I knew a few of their songs, the others that I didn
t were still exciting to listen to. The crowd was engaged and able to dance and sing along to their
popular tracks like Move and My Type , and their utilization of entertaining production and graphics
made their performance noteworthy and a memorable start to the evening.
Next up was Misterwives (β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†), who put on an okay show overall. I m a fan of some of their

Unlike Saint Motel, they did not use much production, but rather some lighting effects on stage to

about acceptance and individuality. While the sentiment was heartfelt, the speech was a bit generic
and more off putting than rallying for the crowd. It did not aid Misterwives, either, to follow this up
with a cover of Chance The Rapper s Same Drugs , which was bland and stagnant in their otherwise
upbeat set. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with Misterwives and wish they would have done more
with their set.
Finally came Panic! At The Disco (β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…), who has been my favorite band since I was 12 years

Stress Inoculation
Stress Stress is the wear and tear our bodies experience as we adjust to our continual changing
environment; it has physical and emotional effects on us and can create negative feelings. As a
positive influence, stress can help compel us to action; result in a new awareness and an exciting new
perspective. As a negative influence stress can result in feelings of distrust, rejection anger, and
depression, which in turn can cause health problems such as headaches, upset stomach, rashes,
insomnia, ulcers, high pressure, heart disease, and stroke. (Koop,1998). The long term effects of stress
on one s health are quite significant. The American Academy of Family Physicians has said that two

Mechanisms that explain why students perform badly under stress include hypervigilance (excessive
alertness to a stressful situation resulting in panic for example, overstudying for an exam) and
premature closure (quickly choosing a solution to end a stressful situation for example, rushing
through an exam). (Falk,1995). Students react to college in a variety of ways. For some students,
college is stressful because it is an abrupt change from high school. For others, separation from home
is a source of stress. Although some stress is necessary for personal growth to occur, the amount of
stress can overwhelm students and affect the ability to cope. Since World War II, changes in American
higher education includes growth has been a loss of personal attention to students. One measure of
excessive stress, or distress, in college students is the use of mental health services. Symptoms
commonly report by campus psychiatrists portray a general picture of school related stress, for
example, the inability to do school work and the fear of academic failure. One way for teachers to
promote more of a healthy learning environment is to reduce stress among students. Studies of
teachings that produces the most learning suggest that effective teachers use an analytical and
synthetic approach to the subject matter, organize the material well to make it clear, and establish
rapport with their students. Most

Pentheus Death In Euripides The Bacchae

human limitations. We are unlikely to come across a mortal embodiment of a god, yet Euripides begs

How to Use Your Chain of Command
How To Use Your Chain Of Command Why it is important to follow proper instruction procedures in
the military is for many reasons. As a soldier it is our responsibility to not only follow
instruction/orders, but to execute the command. Not following orders can result into consequences not
only for the soldier whom committed not following instructions, but also it can put others at risk too.
Like your N.C.O. in charge of you, to your Team Leader, to your Section Sergeant, to your Platoon
Sergeant, to your 1st Sergeant, to your Company Commander, to your Brigade Commander, and so
on. Not only can your N.C.O. in charge of you, your Team Leader, your Section Sergeant, your

Even so like having a simple instruction booklet on how to properly build something you just bought
or visa versa. If you don t follow the instructions properly you could have an unstructured piece of
construction you are working on. Not following proper instructions/orders and also result in injury, to
you, or your fellow soldier near you or even as working in the civilian world just the same action
could happen a result of injury or in this case being fired. But unlike the Army you can t get fired, but
if the situation is extremely bad you could get a dishonorable discharge and perhaps too some jail time
depending on the situation instruction/orders you broke or did not follow. Like not wearing a ACH/
Army Combat Helmet while driving a military vehicle like the LMTV, HumVee, Hemett and so on.
Wearing the proper PPE for driving, shooting at the range, while being in combat in a combat
environment, and anything that would make you have an injury to yourself, or to your fellow comrade
soldier from not following directions/orders on how to use and wear your proper PPE as a United
States Of America Army Soldier. So in conclusion I would not recommend that saying in the
absentness of orders to take charge, this will not benefit the junior enlisted Specialist, Private First
Class, Private II, and Private, but an N.C.O., Staff Sergeant, Sergeant First

Scholars and film critiques have often regarded the fifth generation film Director, Zhang Yi Mou s
films as a visually sensual feast (Zhu 26). The predominant use of the color Red in his highly stylized
films: Red Sorghum (1988), Ju Dou and Raise the Red Lantern (1991) are evidence of his trademark
visual style thus leading scholars to critically analyze the symbolic representation of the color. I would
argue however, in addition to the prevalent use of red in his art house films, there are several

According to Kong, Red in Chinese culture symbolizes luck and popularity and is commonly used in

the symbolic representation of red amount to sexuality as a means of gaining political power within
the Chen household. The dining table scene where 3rd mistress arrives fashionably late dressed in a

ironic. Their victory is the attention of the master s affection for one night. This further emphasizes the

The Great Mosque of Cordoda In Spain, Cordoba was the original center of Muslim culture once the

Mosque of Cordoba is a hypostyle mosque that may be considered as the purest of all Arabic

widening the hall by two naves and lengthening it by eight bays. In 961 76, a second expansion of the
mosque was made through the lengthening of the mosque and adding twelve more bays. Furthermore,

Procrastination Method
Back in dark ages, when people used to have to tune into their shows once a week, it seemed like
people would get a lot more done. If nothing was on that interested him or her, they would simply find

Netflix, it is easy to fall into the trap of binge watching. I am one of the many people who have fell
victim to binge watching. I ll always keep telling myself just one more episode, but the next time I
look at the clock, it s one a.m., and I still haven t started any of my homework. Then, I will have to

Studies have begun to examine the use of Netflix as a procrastination method, even as a form of sleep
procrastination (Friedmann, 2016).
I used to find myself saying that I ll go to bed at ten, but by the time I get home from work it s already
past nine. Then, I ll choose watching a episode on Netflix over starting my homework, then next thing
I know its already almost midnight, and I still hadn t touched my homework. I used to just keep
pushing sleep further and further back, so I could sneak in a couple more episodes. Eventually the lack
of sleep would catch up with me, and I would crash.
Since online TV was introduced, many peoples watching habits have changed. Instead of waiting until
the next episode came out a week later, people can simply just hit the next episode button and waste
and entire day away. Because of this, people have began to severely procrastinate, myself included,
but since I have gotten Netflix back, I have learned manage my time and set my priorities straight.

Improving Quality And Safety For Patient Safety
The Role of the Leader in Evaluating Data to Improve Quality and Safety
Patient safety is a growing concern among healthcare professionals and the public (Goh, Chan,
Kuziemsky, 2013). As professional nurses, it is our duty to demonstrate improved safety for our
patients, visitors and guests to the facilities in which we serve. It is also our duty to prevent adverse
events and to view unfortunate incidents as learning opportunities to achieve a holistic view of patient
care. By improving patient safety, we accept responsibility for more positive patient outcomes and a
successful hospital stay. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the importance of data evaluation and

Research Project Supervisor: Dr. Karen Furgerson
The purpose of this study was to understand the college students perceptions of slut shaming
discourse. The research indicated that there was a strong correlation between cultural expectations and
slut shaming. According to the results, the perceptions of slut shaming are influenced by aspects such
as: class, culture, media, gender, feminism, ethnicity, religion, and sexuality. Overall, college students
were found to be on crossfire of slut shaming discourse on a college campus. It was concluded, based
on the research, the participants have significantly identified with judging a woman by the way she
dresses. It is recommended that further research be devoted to slut shaming perceptions in different:
cultures, groups, regions, religions, organizations, media and institutions.

  • 2. History of Film Exhibition Prior to 1927 While the actual films produced during the silent era of American film production and distribution are frequently discussed and analyzed, both as primary historical documents and important cultural contributions, the actual practice of exhibiting and viewing those films gets somewhat less attention. Prior to 1927 (the year when sound films first emerged onto the national stage), movie exhibition in the United States was still growing into the massive industry it represents today, and it reflected in the films being produced. By examining the history of film exhibition prior to 1927 in general, and the experiences of Denver and New York in particular, it will be possible to understand how the medium s nearly thirty year existence prior to sound was characterized by a chaotic, open ended exhibition system that nevertheless predicts the gradual takeover of exhibition by a few large chains. To begin it is necessary to note that there was some precedent for the exhibition of films even before the medium was created, because by the time film became widely known in the 1890s, phonographs had been set up in the arcades found in the heart of bustling cities, where for a few cents customers could select various music and speeches, which they listen to through individual ear horns (Gomery 4). Early film exhibitions attempted to recreate this process, using Thomas Edison s Kinetograph to draw customers into arcades, even though the concept of individual audiences make much more ... • 3. Breastfeeding Should Be Allowed In Public Breastfeeding is natural and breast milk is the best nutritional choice for infants. Breastfeeding helps babies to fight infections, prevent allergies and diarrhea, and protects against several chronic conditions, breast milk contains antibodies that help infants fight off viruses and bacteria, and is easy for an infant s stomach to digest. Also, breastfeeding helps the infant and the mother to bond and it can help the mothers to lose extra calories fast, which they gained during pregnancy. However, breastfeeding in public tends to be controversial, and breastfeeding mothers are forced to use the public bathroom to feed their babies. If anyone of us can have our lunch or dinner in public, why shouldn t a breastfed baby has the same rights? And who wants to have lunch in the bathroom? Women should breastfeed anywhere except in the bathroom. women have a legal right to breastfeed her babies in public, and women s breast is created to nurture babies. People argue breastfeeding in public is indecent exposure and unconformable to those who are watching a mother nursing a child. Breastfeeding in public shouldn t bother other people because it is unrealistic to expect mothers to feed their babies in places like bathrooms. Breastfeed anywhere except in a dirty bathroom. • 4. The Common Man In Bolt s A Man For All Season In the play, A Man for All Season, Bolt narrates the play through use of The Common Man. The Preface of A Man for All Season, states that the play is not a straight forward narration, though more comparable to a poem. (Bolt, 1960:xvii). The Common Man comments on the action and characters in numerous asides as well as change costume on stage and indicates the locations. The asides extend the idea that The Common man s moral character is not so detached from society s, by removing himself from the actions he is able to conveniently disassociates himself from More s supposed treasonous acts. This is portrayed in the following lines I d let him out if I could but I can t. Not without taking up residence in there myself. And he s in there already, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning of the play, Iago confesses I am not what I am (Shakespeare, 2003:I.i.66). Hampton Reeves (2010:37) argues that Iago is the self proclaimed narrator of Othello, however, the most unreliable narrator to date. Iago s substantial use of asides also reveals his cleverness; he is able to not only direct but also to remark on the action of the play. Iago speaks his soliloquies before Othello, this draws the audience into his point of view. Iago s use of soliloquies supports his power of words. Shakespeare forces the audience to connive with the villain when he addresses the audience. We see Othello through Iago s narration. The opposition between Iago and Othello supports the idea of a foreign moor being positioned higher than a white Venison. When taking into consideration the point of view established by Iago, it is clear that Shakespeare was highly influenced by the global controversy over racial differences and origin during the Renaissance (Vaughan, 1996:5). As Iago is undeniably jealous of Othello his narrative point of view cannot be trusted as it is based on a subjective vendetta that he manifested in his words and actions towards ... • 6. Benefits Of The Minimum Legal Driving Age Minimum legal driving age should not increase to age 18, due to accidents caused by teens. Rising the driving age will not help decrease the rate of teen accidents. The foremost reason for their high accident rate is because of lack of experience. Second are the distractions. This paper will present why the minimum legal driving age should not increase and the benefits for teens to begin driving at age 16. Reasons why increasing the driving age will not reduce accident rate among teens or new drivers is because they will still be in the stage of learning and maturing into responsible adults and will lack the hands on driving experience from parents. According to the Nation Teen Driving Statistics, a total of 2,823 teenagers ages 13 19 died in motor vehicle crashes in 2012. In 2012, 60 percent of deaths among passenger vehicle occupants ages 16 19 were drivers (RMIIA, 2015). Increasing the driving age due to immaturity would cause mass punishment for the age group of 15 18 young drivers. What needs to happen is to address the cause of most motor vehicle accidents and address the issue. Parents are responsible for signing documentation that gives their consent of their child being able to drive. Many people believe the reason for teen accidents is because they are immature but, the reason may be due to distractions. Distractions are the leading cause of accidents for young teens. Allowing teens to start driving will give them a little responsibility as a young teenager. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people believed that the Civil War was about slavery and southern states right to defend their states rights. The confederates were fighting for their liberty and independence under the leadership of Abraham Lincoln, who they felt was a tyrant. However, the union, was fighting to preserve their territory, that was created by their founding fathers from chaos and dismemberment. President Jefferson Davis believed that the civil war was based on the confederate rights to secede from the union. Jefferson also felt that Abraham Lincoln was to blamed for the start of the civil war, since he was against slavery. Lincoln s intended goal was to preserve the union, he claimed slavery was not the reason. If I could save the union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all slaves I would do it, and if I could slave it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that (Shi Tindall, 2015, pg.465) . Lincoln told everyone that if the southern states were to return to the union that slavery would still exist. However, many people believed that Lincoln wasn t being truthful. • 12. Occurrences Of Natural Disaster Or Man-Made Disaster Final literature review Introduction Occurrences of natural disaster or man made disaster have increased this last decade thus there is a constant need to provide humanitarian support to population affected by such disasters. Means of communications are vital to manage rescues operation during down time. However, in worst case scenario most of the infrastructures are getting damaged. Therefore, it is essential to restore communications within the disaster zone. This literature review is divided in three main stages, which are the consequences of a natural disaster, the need of communication and the solutions available to provide communication to the population. Disaster consequences The Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED, 2009) defines a disaster as an unforeseen event that causes destruction and resulted in a high number of civilian casualties, that overwhelms local capacity and request international assistance. Alexander (2014) agrees An emergency is defined as an exceptional event that exceeds the capacity of normal resources and organization to cope with it . Impacts of disaster are usually measured by the cost of direct and indirect losses. What is meant by Indirect losses are losses of employment, temporary unemployed resulting from business disruption caused by building collapsing (National Research Council U.S, 1989) thus the impact can last for an indeterminate period of time (Alexander, 2014b) therefore the cost of Indirect losses caused by natural disasters are difficult to quantified. Whereas direct losses encompass physical destruction, casualties, communication loss, transportation, and emergency response. (National Research Council U.S, 1999). Munich Re (1989, cited in Hoeppe, 2016) states that cost of losses caused by natural disaster have extremely increased since 1950 mainly because of population growth and the complexity of infrastructures in modern societies. The professor Rahman defines the complex relationship between infrastructures as infrastructures interdependencies where each node is known as a Critical Infrastructures. According to Moteff and Parfomak (2004) a CI is a system that if disrupted can lead to serious issues on the wellbeing of society. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The quantitative analysis presented in Chapter 4 provides evidence that across the all 28 states in the sample the probabily.............. This chapter presents a closer look at three states that retained the JCPC at independence and subsequently abolished the right of appeal. The goal is to increase our understanding of the factors that influence the decision to abolish all appeals to the JCPC in The Gambia, New Zealand and Singapore. Firstly, I argue that states are more likely to perceive a disconnect with the JCPC based on their level of success before the JCPC in cases where the state is a party to the proceedings. Secondly, cases where the state is the appellant may be particularly salient. In these cases, the state has decided to use public resources to challenges the decision of a lower domestic appeals court decision. This indicates that the state takes the challenge very seriously and would like a final appellate court that is likely to uphold its policies. Finally, I argue that change in the governing political coalition will influence the view of the court a partner. Seow (1997) asserts that less democratic or more authoritarian states are likely to be more sensitive to JCPC decisions that do not uphold the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Racial Racism In Gary Disher s The Divine Wind Gary Disher s socially provocative Australian historical drama novel The Divine Wind (1998) set in the Australian pearling town of Broome, provides a thought provoking and contemporary outlook on racial prejudice, isolation and the loss of rights to adulthood during the onset of World War11. Disher establishes this through a range of characters of differing ages and cultural backgrounds, evoking a war devastated Australia and its effects on young adults forced to leave their childhood behind. Written as a series of melancholic recollections, the seemingly simple novel conveys the messages of a violent history, as it explores the complexity of the relationships between racially diverse characters during the onset of WW11. The novel follows a young and ambitious Hartley Penrose who faces challenges with discovering his maturity/identity, serving as a transition from his past to his future. The Divine Wind utilizes the characters ideas, experiences, beliefs, and values to explore the central themes, the racial prejudice between the white race and other ethnicities, the regional and urban divide and the growing up and loss of rights to adulthood. The Divine Wind utilizes conventions and ideas from the drama genre to communicate these central themes which are still prevalent in today s modern society. Narrative is any verbal and nonverbal interpretation which is arranged logically to generate a meaning. This communication process is influenced by the experiences and other factors from the past. The concept upholds the idea that communication happens between a narrator and the listener in the form of a story. The story includes the events that the narrator wants to communicate with the listener and does not fit in a single category. The theory has several principals and assumptions in support of its claim. Observation: A 53 year male who has spent frequent amount of time working in a warehouse which requires a lot of lifting of heavy objects and seems to have strained his lower back and is having weakness in his right leg. In addition, the patient has a weak patellar reflex in his right leg and a normal patellar reflex in his left leg. However, his calcaneal reflex response for both legs was normal. 2. Question: Does this man have a herniated disk in the lumbar region of his spine and if so which lumbar is herniated and how is affecting the functioning of his legs and what we can to fix that. 3. Hypothesis: Based on his age, the strenuous lifting that he does in his job, I suspect that he has herniated Nucleus Pulposus from either L2 to L4. The compression of the dorsal divisions of the ventral rami of his lumbar spine is causing his femoral nerve to not properly work on his right leg. 4. Prediction: I predict that he has a herniated lumbar disk on L3 or L4 caused by improper lifting and due to his increased age, which has made his bones more brittle. Consequently, I predict he will experience some weakness in his right leg, when he is standing or trying to lift something. • 26. Civil War Dbq Essay When the Civil War erupted at the attack on Fort Sumter in 1861, fighting was mainly driven by political tensions, all of which ultimately spawned from the question of slavery. During the Antebellum Period, the United States experienced a gradually intensifying sectional conflict that threatened the unity of the nation. Compromises between the North and South had become futile. Contrary to popular belief, the goals of Lincoln and the North did not involve the emancipation of slaves and restoration of equality and the opportunity of prosperity for all Americans. Most Northerners fought to preserve the newly split Union, while Southerners fought to protect what they believed to be inalienable states rights. Ultimately, precarious African American ... Though this statement only freed slaves in regions still participating in rebellion, it demonstrated a shift in purpose and gave the North moral justification to fight in the war. By thrusting themselves into the war effort, African Americans changed a war based on political disagreements and state power into a war to terminate and forever prohibit slavery. (Doc. D) This document may be considered bias, especially by Confederate sympathizers, because it was written by members of the Republican Party platform most of which heavily advocated emancipation. Lincoln, who initially remained neutral on the topic of slavery, became inspired by the willingness with which African Americans stake their lives for us, they must be prompted by the strongest motive even the promise of freedom. And the promise being made, must be kept. (Doc. Halfway through, they stopped and lead singer Mandy Lee gave a short speech about acceptance and individuality. While the sentiment was heartfelt, the speech was a bit generic and more off putting than rallying for the crowd. It did not aid Misterwives, either, to follow this up with a cover of Chance The Rapper s Same Drugs , which was bland and stagnant in their otherwise upbeat set. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with Misterwives and wish they would have done more with their set. Finally came Panic! As a positive influence, stress can help compel us to action; result in a new awareness and an exciting new perspective. As a negative influence stress can result in feelings of distrust, rejection anger, and depression, which in turn can cause health problems such as headaches, upset stomach, rashes, insomnia, ulcers, high pressure, heart disease, and stroke. (Falk,1995). Students react to college in a variety of ways. For some students, college is stressful because it is an abrupt change from high school. For others, separation from home is a source of stress. Although some stress is necessary for personal growth to occur, the amount of stress can overwhelm students and affect the ability to cope. Since World War II, changes in American higher education includes growth has been a loss of personal attention to students. One measure of excessive stress, or distress, in college students is the use of mental health services. Symptoms commonly report by campus psychiatrists portray a general picture of school related stress, for example, the inability to do school work and the fear of academic failure. Dionysus chooses to castigate the willful young king by driving the women of the city into a bloodthirsty turmoil, including Pentheus own mother. In an intense and violent scene, she leads the other women in ripping him limb from limb, too deranged to see that it is her own son being killed. However, the story that leads up to this is full of encounters that show where Pentheus went wrong. As a soldier it is our responsibility to not only follow instruction/orders, but to execute the command. Not following orders can result into consequences not only for the soldier whom committed not following instructions, but also it can put others at risk too. Like your N.C.O. in charge of you, to your Team Leader, to your Section Sergeant, to your Platoon Sergeant, to your 1st Sergeant, to your Company Commander, to your Brigade Commander, and so on. If you don t follow the instructions properly you could have an unstructured piece of construction you are working on. Not following proper instructions/orders and also result in injury, to you, or your fellow soldier near you or even as working in the civilian world just the same action could happen a result of injury or in this case being fired. But unlike the Army you can t get fired, but if the situation is extremely bad you could get a dishonorable discharge and perhaps too some jail time depending on the situation instruction/orders you broke or did not follow. Like not wearing a ACH/ Army Combat Helmet while driving a military vehicle like the LMTV, HumVee, Hemett and so on. Wearing the proper PPE for driving, shooting at the range, while being in combat in a combat environment, and anything that would make you have an injury to yourself, or to your fellow comrade soldier from not following directions/orders on how to use and wear your proper PPE as a United States Of America Army Soldier. The predominant use of the color Red in his highly stylized films: Red Sorghum (1988), Ju Dou and Raise the Red Lantern (1991) are evidence of his trademark visual style thus leading scholars to critically analyze the symbolic representation of the color.
