The Ideal Of Heroism
The ideal of heroism in comics is displayed as that of normal citizens taking action against the tides of
evil in the world. The fantastical element of super strength, uncanny agility, and web slinging exploits
are paled in comparison to what lives in the heart of a hero according to comics. Superheroes, or
supervillains, are not gods who come down from heaven to save or destroy us, though there are
exceptions, but are instead the human spirit uplifted to a point of power. In comics, a hero is someone
who does the right thing even if it is difficult, because they are, or should, be the best of us. In Spider
Man, heroism is the responsibility to make the world a better place that motivated by the death of his
uncle. Peter Parker wishes to bring less heartache to the world; he wishes to prevent what happened to
him from happening to others. Peter Parker sacrifices nearly everything in his life in the pursuit of
protecting the city but that is not how it began. In the beginning of his career being Spider Man was a
means to an end to gain respect and pay the bills. For Luke Cage a hero is his new identity built from
the ashes of his former life. Heroism is an occupation for Luke Cage to regain what was taken from
him. But does this monetary influence somehow dampen the heroics of Spider Man and Luke Cage?
And if they both are using their powers to make a better world it begs the question; what does it mean
to make the world a better place? What actions are allowed

History of the Funeral Rule Essay
HISTORY OF THE FUNERAL RULE
The roots of the Funeral Rule are found in two books that were published in the late 60 s Unsafe At
Any Speed by Ralph Nader and The American Way of Death by Jessica Midford. In the late 1960 s,
the FTC was a paper tiger. Ralph Nader, who began the consumer protection movement in this country
with the publication of Unsafe At Any Speed, was a sharp critic of the Federal Trade Commission for
its lack of consumer protection. Specifically, the FTC was criticized because it relied too heavily on
consumer complaints and brought enforcement actions only on a case by case basis. The consumer
protection movement wanted the FTC to proceed against entire industries rather than individual
businesses. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In March, 1976, the FTC received over 9,000 comments on the proposed rulemaking. The Final
Notice of Rulemaking was published in 1976 and identified 30 disputed areas of fact. These were the
focus of six public hearings that were held from April through August of 1976. There were 315
witnesses, many of which provided anecdotal evidence. There was very little empirical data such as
surveys and valid economic studies. Following the hearings, the presiding officer issued his report.
Additional comments were submitted by the public and the Final Staff Report was delivered to the
Commission in 1979. The FTC tentatively approved the Funeral Rule in March, 1979. The funeral
industry went to Congress and was able to obtain some relief in the form of the FTC Improvements
Act of 1980. That statute imposed new procedural safeguards in the FTC rulemaking process. It also
required the FTC to republish the Funeral Rule and take additional comments using the new
procedural safeguards. In 1981, the FTC republished the Rule and began a new proceeding. That led
to the promulgation of the Funeral Rule in 1982. After the NFDA unsuccessfully appealed the Rule to
the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Rule took effect on January 1, 1984. The Funeral Rule which
was finally adopted was less onerous then the one originally proposed. NFDA was successful in
having certain provisions deleted from the original Rule such as a requirement to have written

What Was The Influence Of Ashoka
The world has had many great leaders, but some of those leaders were ruthless and violent. Let s
travel back to 304 BC, when the new prince Ashoka Maurya was born to Rani Shubhadrangi and
Maharaja Bindusara, in the ancient city of Patliputra (Which is now alongside modern day Patna).
Ashoka grew up to be a dauntless, troublesome and savage young man. He admired hunting, and
legend has it, he killed a lion only with a wooden stick. His older half brothers were alarmed by this,
as they feared Ashoka, and persuaded their father to post him as a general to distant borders of the
Mauryan Empire.
Because of what his they did, Ashoka knew that his brothers viewed him as an opponent for the
throne, Ashoka went into exile for 2 years in the one of the neighboring countries, Kalinga. While he
was there, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people had a chance to convert to Buddhism, because of Ashoka. The king helped many people
by doing this, because he gave them a chance for a better life. Because of this, he is still remembered
today.
Ashoka is still relevant, and people are aware of what he did, but not just in India. Ashoka has some
very famous symbols, and one of them is on the Indian flag, it is called the Ashoka Chakra. The
Ashoka Chakra is a portrayal of the Buddhist Dharma chakra, represented with 24 spokes. It is so
called because it appears on a number of edicts of Ashoka, most notable among which is the Lion
Capital of Sarnath which has been used as the National Emblem of the Republic of India.
As I mentioned, the national emblem of the republic of India is the Sarnath lion, which is known all
around the world, especially because it is on the Indian Passport. On the statue, there are four lions,
which stand back to back, mounted on a pole with a platform carrying sculptures of an elephant, a
horse, a bull and a lion separated by the chakra over a

The Great Gatsby Setting Analysis
Setting reveals the perspective of a Narrator. A narrator s perspective can be based on gender, social
status, culture, and especially experience. In the book, The Great Gatsby, the author Francis Scott
Fitzgerald, described a place of dispirited contents. The impact of the setting of The Valley of Ashes in
The Great Gatsby is affecting the characters. It makes the characters determined to achieve more. The
setting creates a gloomy and depressing tone. Word choice helps emphasize the impact of the setting.
To begin with, The Valley of Ashes affects the characters in The Great Gatsby in a purposeful way. No
one really wants to experience the life in The Valley of Ashes; so many of the characters strive to be
more. For example, Myrtle actually lives in this bleak city, but she is determined to make it out. In the
Text it says, She smiled slowly and, walking through her husband as if he were a ghost, shook hands
with Tom, looking him flush in the eye (22). Myrtle knows Tom is wealthy and live in ... Show more

For example the phrases, grotesque gardens, and unprosperous and bare impacts the description (20
21). Grotesque means ugly or distorted, using the word ugly would make it seem not as disturbing.
The word unprosperous strictly implies that places in The Valley of Ashes are run down and are not
successful. When describing work in this environment Nick says, ...of men who move dimly and
already crumbling through the powdery air (20). This implies that the men were over worked, but
word choice emphasizes how men were such over worked that their lives were basically declining,
because of the work environment of powdery (polluted) air.
In conclusion, the setting of The Valley of Ashes impacts the characters, tone, and word choice in The
Great Gatsby. Such a desolate landscape affects all aspects in The Great Gatsby. This setting makes
the whole scene seem

Neurotic Imposture
The Dangers of Feeling Like a Fake by Manfred F. R. Kets de Vries showed how faking it til you
make it can lead to damaging a person and their career, especially if they re a victim to neurotic
imposture. A person who has neurotic imposture feels as though they don t deserve success and that
they are basically fakes or impostors. This article begins with a story about a man by the name of
Tobin Holmes who feared he couldn t take on his job s responsibilities because he wasn t good
enough. Tobin felt he was an imposter and would be exposed for who he truly was. Neurotic
imposture can take toll over successful people and turn their life for the worse; a success into a failure.
Vries explained, to some extent, of course, we are all impostors . As humans we take on the roles that
try to show a different side to others publicly and then a private, different life. Neurotic impostors
suffer more by feeling alone than others and they are located at all levels of an organization. ... Show

For neurotic impostors, positive achievements and efforts must be shown at early stages in order to
prevent the sense of always being a failure and never being able to get the job done. It s not
necessarily the point of getting the job done it s the thought of how to get it done or actually being the
right person to do it. Neurotic imposture is more than bluffing but it s a serious case that can alter an
individual s life because they are constantly feeling unequal to the next person. Everyone has had a
time where they felt they weren t able to complete a task, but by having neurotic imposture a person
will always feel they can t compete with the next person even if the person is already highly qualified
for their position. In this case, faking it til you make it will have a person regretting their life choices,
abilities, and will create a disastrous life when having a

Communication in Virtual Team
Katie M Drinkall (u06a1) Unit 6 Assignment 1 Communication in Virtual Team Capella University
September 26, 2013 Communication Communication is the activity of conveying information though
the exchange of thoughts, messages, or information by speech, visuals, signals, writings or behaviors
(Grosse, 2002). These processes are done over time, culture, and geographic boundaries, while this
has become a common practice for organizations and has give rise to the concept of globally dispersed
teams known as virtual teams (LaLonde, 2011). Communication is one of the most necessary
components of leadership, without communication there would be no teams, nobody would know

(Jarvenpaa amp; Leidner, 2006). When a virtual team is established there are many reasons why the
team was developed, the main reason would be physical locations from one another. When teams are
spread out over a long distance it can be very time consuming as well as costly to travel to that current
location for a meeting, while the meeting could be conducted via the internet and conference call.
Even though a team is only communicating in the virtual reality, there are many aspects of the first
initial meeting that need to be made to make the team as effective as possible. According to Nyström
amp; Asproth, once initial contact has been made there needs to be standards that need to be set for a
positive communication standard. Technology According to Pitts (p.3), Training is a very large issue
related to communication in a virtual team, either the team members do not have enough training
when it comes to technology or they are simply lacking the equipment needed to communication in a
professional manner. While LaLonde (p.8) states that the information technology provides the
influence necessary to support the development and expansion of new organizational infrastructure.
Since there are no training courses in trust (Grosse, 2002). There are however numerous carouses in

The Nexus Between Human Resource Management And...
Introduction
The nexus between human resource management and organisational performance represents an issue
of strategic importance to organisations. Hence, many HRM practices were regarded as being more
important than others in contributing to organisations competitive advantage. ( Delery and Doty ,1996
; Tzafrir, 2006 ). Several HRM practitioners and academics tried to integrate such useful practices into
a set that can be universally applicable to all organisations. ( MacDuffie 1995 ; Pffefer 1998 ; Wood
1995 ) . However, that last two decades witnessed increasing studies that acknowledged the
significance of context and strategy when identifying HRM practices that are vital to success. ( Boxall
and Purcell 2011 ; Clinton and Guest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, even those who argue against this universal model, admit the importance of taking lessons
from it. (Boxal and Purcell 2011) . The purpose of this essay is not to engage in the broad debate
regarding universalistic and contingency approaches of HRM, but to assess empirically; to what extent
a universal approach can fit with different strategies and be applied in different contexts. Thus, it will
be argued that although strong evidence exists in support of best fit approaches, a best practice
approach that improves organisational effectiveness can be applied to a certain level in organisations.
This essay attempts firstly, to unpack the complications of universalism in HRM by laying out what
best practice or high commitment HRM is, the notion of bundling, links to performance, and best
practices position compared to other approaches, emphasizing strategic fit and context . Secondly, it
presents and evaluates the empirical evidence for and against universalism and examines its
effectiveness when used in organisations. Lastly, it concludes with a summary of arguments presented
and identifies a point on the scale of universality in HRM in light of evidence stated in the work.
What is Best Practice HRM?
According to Beardwell et al (2004), the introduction of best practice HRM was a key contribution to
strategic human resource management. The advocates of this approach demonstrate that organisations
will improve their

Othello s Diverse Themes Essay
Othello s Diverse Themes
Othello is one of William Shakespeare s tragedies which thrives on a group of themes. Let s see if we
can sort them out and determine the dominant ones from the lesser ones.
The pain which the audience experiences is no accident, but rather one of the themes written into the
play. Critic Caroline Spurgeon in Shakespeare s Imagery and What it Tells Us explains the significant
contribution which imagery makes to the theme of pain and unpleasantness running through the play:
The main image in Othello is that of animals in action, preying upon one another, mischievous,
lascivious, cruel or suffering, and through these, the general sense of pain and unpleasantness is much
increased ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nor is this all. Such jealousy as Othello s converts human nature into chaos, and liberates the beast in
man; and it does this in relation to one of the most intense and also the most ideal of human feelings.
(169)
Of course, jealousy of a non sexual nature torments the antagonist, the ancient, to the point that he
ruins those around him and himself. Francis Ferguson in Two Worldviews Echo Each Other describes:
On the contrary, in the world of his philosophy and his imagination, where his spirit lives, there is no
cure for passion. He is, behind his mask, as restless as a cage of those cruel and lustful monkeys that
he mentions so often. It has been pointed out that he has no intelligible plan for destroying Othello,
and he never asks himself what good it will do him to ruin so many people. It is enough for him that
he hates the Moor. . . .(133)
Act 1 Scene 1 opens with an expression of jealousy and hatred: Roderigo is upbraiding Iago because
of the elopement of the object of his affections Desdemona with the Moor: Thou told st me thou didst
hold him in thy hate. Iago responds with an expression of hatred, saying that he does indeed hate the
general because he Nonsuits my mediators; for, Certes, says he, / I have already chose my officer. Lily
B. Campbell in Shakespeare s Tragic Heroes indicates the palpable hatred:

The Poetry Of Robert Frost
The purpose of this essay is to examine the poetry of Robert Frost for references to themes of nature,
religion, and humanity and how they relate to each other. This exercise will be prefaced with a brief
introduction to the man and his life as a segue to better understanding Frost s verse. The unexpected
but unavoidable aim of this composition will be to realize that Frost s body of work is almost too
sophisticated to comprehend, his manipulation of language so elusive that each reader may believe
Frost is speaking only to them, as the only incontrovertible truth is the poems operate on so many
levels . The reader should note that no discussion will be offered on poetry form, as that is a
consideration best left to literary experts, and otherwise is not germane to thematic consideration.
However, it takes little competence, more an openness, to allow the paean, hymnal lyricism of Frost s
words to insinuate themselves into one s inner voice; synchronizing with his struggle to explain our
very existence. That, instead, will be the focus of the paper.
Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874 and died in January 1963 at the age of 86. He was born in
San Francisco but relocated with his mother to Massachusetts upon his father s death to live on his
grandparents farm. He showed a propensity for verse at a young age and his first experience as a
published poet occurred while he was still in high school. Here he met the love of his life, Elinor
White. They were co valedictorians

The Transportation Of Cargo Transport
Executive summary
Thousands of airports all over the world handle cargo attracting both big and small companies into the
industry. The transportation of cargo is an indicator of how the international trade is performing and
shows the position of the global economy. With the economies of countries growing wider every day
the demand for consumer goods increases. The supply chain exists so that manufacturers can be
connected to the suppliers and the middlemen to the shippers till it reaches the end user. Airports play
an important part in the cargo transport hence there is the need to understand the relationship that
exists between the two industries. This paper will be addressing the important role of airports in the
transportation of cargo. It will highlight the marketing strategies that are used by airports to attract
cargo lines. It will also reveal the characteristics of the major airports.

Our Comprehensive Synthesis Of Available Evidence Showed A...
Our comprehensive synthesis of available evidence showed a strong association between the LISA and
the risk of late/very late ST and MI during the post imaging follow up. The low incidence of ST events
over 18,145 person months follow up (≈1.4% ST per person year) in LISA group explains the limited
power of previous studies evaluating this association. Our results are consistent with a prior meta
analysis of five studies which found LISA to be associated with increased risk of late ST (OR = 6.51;
95% CI 1.34 34.91)(13). We extended these findings by including 11 additional studies and longer
follow up of previous studies published subsequently. Also, we accounted for variable follow up
period of included studies by using person months as offset rather than the number of patients in each
group. Moreover, as recommended in literature (17 18), we used multiple statistical methods as part of
our sensitivity analysis to assess the robustness of our findings. Our finding stood the test of these
sensitivity analysis confirming a strong association between LISA ( and LAISA) and late/very late ST.
Although we found a significant association between LISA and clinical events (ST and MI), our
results do not establish a cause and effect relationship. The two cohorts, LISA and control, were
unbalanced on one or more characteristics in all included studies. For instance, LISA group had longer
stents and more commonly associated with acute coronary syndrome as the indication for PCI in

Is BDSM Still Deviant
Sexuality freedom is the new civil rights we are fighting for this decade. The practice of BDSM has
become a hot topic in our society lately since the book Fifty Shades of Grey went public in 2011.
BDSM is an acronym for bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, and sadism /masochism. The
term BDSM is defined as a variety of erotic practices involving power play. Now because this term
does not cover everyone in the kink community, known as an umbrella term, people are now starting
to use the term WIIWD, which stands for What it is we do . I will be using symbolic interaction theory
to describe why BDSM is not deviant in our society today. Our society is always flowing and

Today, people are not frequently jailed or housed in mental hospitals For their private views. Unless
their actual practices break local laws by violating anothers informed consent or causing harm to the

recently religiously, and therefore sexually puritanical society, But the fact that our generations motto
is I can do whatever I want , plus the large community of BDSM lets me believe that the world of
vanilla people are actually the deviant ones in our society today. Almost all human behavior has
symbolic value to it, including sexual behavior. Biologically , we are driven to reproduce, but this
does not dictate who, when, where, what and how by which we choose to do so;(Arany, 2013) social
interaction is the driving force behind this. These characteristics are then determined by what we have
learned through our culture. BDSM community might stem from mutual sexual fantasies but really its

Cultural Diversity And Tolerance Through Our Television...
Josh Obrien Canadian Studies 339 UCID #00278635 In Canada there is a strong reflection of our
cultural diversity and tolerance through our television shows, as they have the ability to use the
humour of realistic narratives and social dynamics to highlight social equality and intercultural
balance. A recent show that did this was Canadian television show Little Mosque on the Prairie,
created by Zarqa Nawaz through WestWind Pictures. It was filmed in Toronto Ontario and a small
community named Indian Head Saskatewan. The show aired in 2007, but was then rebroadcast to
other countries including parts of Africa, Israel and Gaza strip (Macdonald 2012). Zarqa Nawaz based
much of the show on her personal experiences, and many of the characters are partially inspired by her
family and friends. Nawaz claims that the nature of the show is not necessarily a satire, rather she
states: Little Mosque on the Prairie is a sit com and not a political satire. I want people to find the
hilarity in the show and recognize the similar issues that appear in all our lives. It s important to
normalize the community within the greater community so as not to be seen as the other but to
recognize that we all have universal themes which exist in all communities. I simply want people to

intelligence, and a myriad of other personal qualities to raise aspirations, and transform individuals
and organizations into new levels of high performance (2003, p.24). I believe the best way to show
Lombardi s leadership style is through the components of transformational leadership.
There are four components of transformational leadership: idealized influence, inspirational
motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration. Idealized influence describes
leaders that appear as role models for followers (Northouse, 2010, p.177). David Maraniss says that
while Lombardi expected his players to be early for everything and dressed in suits, but that Lombardi
himself would always get there earlier than the players still and was dressed in nothing short of
professional attire (1999, p.217). Lombardi was a great role model and only expected the best from his
team because he gave the team his best. He led by example and embodied all the ideas he taught
others in himself as well.
Lombardi displayed charisma, which is a special gift that certain individual s posses that make others

Octavia Butler Bloodchild Summary
Octavia Butler, an African American author who uses her writing abilities to instill awareness through
a unique form of science fiction. Each of her novels and stories address issues and topics that address
issues that typically are discussed with a lot of tension from the feminist of the world. Some of these
issues include gender inequalities and gender norms. The short story that I decided to read and write
about is Bloodchild which is based on a romantic and controlling relationship with humans and outer
space creatures. This author switches the roles of the characters to opposite of societal norms. The
male character has the role of the female, so he is required to give birth and the female character has
taken the place of the male and has taken on the impregnating actions. The male, Gan, who is the main
character, is often seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her science fiction novels are very fantasy based with real meanings behind them. Butler does this to
make the harsh truth, easier to understand and comprehend. She wants to paint the picture of the wall
men have around women in society. In her novel the alien like creature who is the women is a very
string creature with long arms. She often made people feel trapped. whole left row of T Gatoi s limbs
closed around her, holding her loosely, but securely...no one else in the family liked it. They said it
made them feel caged (Butler 3). This feeling that Butler described is the same some women feel
throughout their lives due to not being able to make their own choices about how to live their lives.
Instead society tells them what is needed to be done as a woman not what is needed for themselves.
Many women go through this oppression without even knowing it. Society had forced women to
overlook the way they are treated because the world we live in is male based driven. Butler wants to
change the way we see things, her goal is to change the perception of what is socially

Ageism, Or Prejudice And Discrimination Associated With A...
Ageism, or the prejudice and discrimination associated with a person s age, has become a widely
researched topic among scholars over the last few decades. The deficit model of ageing characterizes
old age as a pathological condition in which individuals undergo physical and mental decline (Allen,
2011). Growing old has developed into a major social problem in Western culture, and most
individuals accept the stereotypes and stigma related to ageing. Companies, often phase out older
employees by hiring young individuals who are perceived as being less of a risk, and more of an asset
to the company. The exclusion of older individuals is especially prevalent in industries related to
media and professional sports. Media, favors young individuals because they convey an image of
beauty, vigour, and energy. Similarly, professional athletes are often forced to retire early, due to the
recruitment process of professional sports teams. The objective of this study aims to uncover ageism
in the dance community, because dance combines beauty and athleticism, two traits that are
considered to decline with age.
The study discusses age discrimination within the dance community through an exploration of
previous research conducted on the topic, and a qualitative analysis of interviews conducted with three
dancers via email. The dancers who participated in this study discuss their background as dancers,
their age, and their perception of age as a dancer. The participants acknowledge that

The Bean Trees Mother Figures Essay
The author Barbara Kingsolver once said, Sometimes the strength of motherhood is greater than
natural laws. This means that mothers can go through great lengths and even break laws for their
children. In the book The Bean Trees , Kingsolver portrays that quote by writing about Taylor s
experiences with an abandoned child named Turtle. Kingsolver included several characters in the book
that act as mother figures. Barbara Kingsolver seems to be saying that a mother does not have to come
biologically through the characters of Taylor, Lou Ann, and Mattie. Lou Ann is a character that was
introduced in the second chapter. Lou Ann is single and has a son whom she loves. Lou Ann met
Taylor later on with the book and got in a huge mutual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Starting right now, you ve only got one Ma in the whole world, (Kingsolver 302). Taylor made a
comeback to Turtle calling Esperanza by Ma by telling Turtle that she only has one ma in the world
and that s is Taylor. Taylor was a character that was acting as a mother figure only to Turtle. Even
though she had a child, Taylor was still a child inside that tried to avoid pregnancy. Mattie is the older
character in this book that was owned Jesus is Lord Tires and was a character that acted as a mother to
multiple characters. She looked at me the way Mama would have, (Kingsolver 252). This quote was
found near the end of the book that signified Mattie looking at Taylor and Taylor observing that look
and thinking that it is similar to her real mother s. Mattie gave some money to Taylor for the trip and
Taylor refused to take it, so Mattie said that it was for everyone in the car and gave her the look that
reminded Taylor of her biological mother. I ve got some peanut butter crackers, Mattie said leaning
over Turtle. Will she eat peanut butter? , (Kingsolver 252). Mattie seemed worried about Turtle and
offered her something to eat. She acted as a mother figure to Turtle because she fed her and gave her
more food when Turtle hinted for it. Mattie was the one that fit as a mother figure to a lot of characters
in the book. She was the person that led a sanctuary and was the one who took care of the many. The

Recent Mergers or Acquisitions
A merger or merger of equals is often financed by an all stock deal (a stock swap). An all stock deal
occurs when all of the owners of the outstanding stock of either company get the same amount (in
value) of stock in the new combined company. A merger adds value only if the two companies are
worth more together than apart (Wikipedia, Free Encyclopedia, 2006).
An acquisition (of un equals, one large buying one small) can involve a cash and debt combination, or
just cash, or a combination of cash and stock of the purchasing entity, or just stock (Wikipedia, Free

Scottsboro Trial Research Paper
Today, in the United States, people are not punished for the color of their skin, back in the 1930s, a
person s race was taken into consideration when in court. There are many instances of racism in both
trials, which impacted the outcome. The Scottsboro Trial consisted of two white girls and a group of
black youths. 21 year old Victoria Price and 17 year old Ruby Bates were on a train ride back to their
hometown, Huntsville, with a group of seven white boys. A group of 12 15 black youths were said to
have joined the train and, later, a white boy, stepped on Haywood Patterson, a black male s hand, and
a brawl erupted which caused the white boys to be driven out. After this, the white girls claimed that
they were raped, each by six black males. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One reason why their testimonies were doubted was because of their sketchy backgrounds. Because of
their backgrounds, they were not respected by their community and, therefore, they were not trusted.
Before the Scottsboro trials, both Victoria and Ruby worked at the Margaret Mill and they grew up
lacking a father figure, something that brought shame to their families. Also, Victoria was said to be a
prostitute and Ruby lived among Negroes (Ransdall). In To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout is deceived by
Mayella s appearance, but then sees the true Mayella, ... she seemed somehow fragile looking, but
when she sat facing us in the witness chair she became what she was, a thick bodied girl accustomed
to strenuous labor (Lee 239). All three of the girls skin color also affected the outcome of the trials,
they were all privileged white ladies, for that reason, the jury belived whatever they said. One of the
black youths accused of rape, disclosed his thoughts saying, I knew if a white woman accused a black
man of rape, he was as good as dead (Linder, Famous Trials ). This man knew he had little hope of
winning the trial, like Atticus in To Kill a Mockingbird. Attics knew that Mayella had the upper hand
in this case because of her skin color, about this he says, She is the victim of cruel poverty and
ignorance, but I cannot pity her: she is white.

I believe that the aboriginal people need better health care and housing. According to Health Canada
First Nation people and Inuit people are more at risk to receive HIV. In a trend over the past few years,
it has been seen that natives are being infected at a significantly younger age than non aboriginal
people. This could be because the aboriginal people are treated differently in Canada so that they don t
receive the same health coverage that the rest of the Canadians do. It is unfortunate that the highest
cause of HIV transition between aboriginal people is injection drugs. The Canadian government
should be enforcing the same drug laws that we have in other parts of Canada on the reserves. It is
known that Aboriginal people have adjusted some of the laws on their reserves to accompany their
customs and culture. Yet, the HIV count is rising in the aboriginal people, and if not properly taken
care of, people may be more prone to different diseases. Also, some health care benefits that we
receive are not translated to the aboriginal population. In the aboriginal regions, people live in a large
home and hold many relatives and a few different families. With more young people, there will
eventually be inadequate room for living. The government should use this opportunity to build houses

An Idea That Protects A Proprietor s Land Title
Indefeasibility Introduction Indefeasibility of title is an idea that protects a proprietor s land title. It
allows for the proprietor to be immune from attack by adverse claims and interests in the land, in
which he, the proprietor, is registered. This concept is based around the Torrens system in New
Zealand, this concept consists of three main principles, the mirror, the curtain and the insurance
principles. This essay will discuss the concept of indefeasibility of title, the Torrens system and how
these have provided security of title for land owners in New Zealand. I will also report on two
significant cases that will illustrate the concept of Indefeasibility of title, they are Frazer v Walker and
Efstratiou, Glantschnig and Petrovic v Glatnschnig. Common Law Common law was implemented in
New Zealand when the British settlers arrived. It was in accordance with English law and was known
as the Deeds system and Act and was replaced by the Torrens system in 1870. Common Law basically
stated that no one could confer a better title than the one they have and therefore if a deed was deemed
invalid, so too was the title (Hinde 2013). Torrens System The Torrens system is what indefeasibility
of title has been built around. It has existed since 1870 and has been refined and is now found in the
Land Transfer Act 1952. The system, as mentioned earlier, consists of three principles, the mirror
principle, the curtain principle and the insurance principle. The Mirror principle:

To America, the American dream was not living in a huge, fancy house, but to have a house, a yard,
maybe a TV and a car too nothing fancy, no palaces like the gringos built just four walls and a roof
(Boyle 29). The typical immigrant does not come to American with the intentions of becoming
wealthy. They come to American to have a better opportunity in life. To be able to own a home, work
and have a family. According to The New York Times, The phrase American dream was invented
during the Great Depression. It comes from a popular 1931 book by the historian James Truslow
Adama, who defines it as, that dream of a land in while life should be better and richer and fuller for
everyone. In the decades that followed, the dream became a reality. Thanks to rapid, widely shared
economic growth, nearly all children grew up to achieve the most basic definition of a better life
earning more money and enjoying higher living standards than their parents had. Learning that us
Americans are likely to achieve the American dream shows that it is all that much more difficult for
immigrants and even more so for illegal immigrants. T.C Boyle, in Tortilla Curtain, attempts to show
the separation between the American dream of the community of immigrants and the American dream
of the whites.
In the book, immigrants gather each and every day at a place called the labor exchange in hopes that
someone will need workers in need to cheap labor. Most of the days, the men

Are Gender Roles A Social Construct Essay
I am a strong believer that gender roles are a social construct. However, gender identity is not.
Therefore, it is very important to know the difference. Gender roles are defined as theoretical
constructs involving of social and behavioral norms that are widely considered to be socially
appropriate for individuals of a specific sex. The perception of gender roles includes attitudes, actions,
and personality traits associated with a particular gender within that culture. Gender roles are
predominantly considered within a family context as well as within society in general . I believe that

When reading the Apology and the Crito of Plato, one inevitably comes upon a seeming fundamental
contradiction between the two dialogues. The Apology presents readers with a defiant Socrates who

Rather, it clears the debate considerably. If the Apology passage is shown to have been made in
defiance of an illegal court procedure, then the Apology passage cannot be taken as evidence of
Socratic support of civil disobedience. Such evidence, coupled with the obedience to law proscribed in
the Crito, allows the supposed contradiction between the two dialogues to be dismissed.
In order to analyze the Apology and the Crito in relation to each other, one must first make an
assumption that has not been proven to any significant extent. One must assume that the Socrates
character within the two dialogues is both consistent and trustworthy in espousing philosophical
arguments. By accepting this assumption, one can evaluate the inconsistencies within the two Socratic
dialogues as if they were a complete, consistent whole. Following such an assumption, one can
examine the philosophy in the Apology in relation to that within the Crito with logical bearing.
In order to understand the seeming contradiction between the two works, one must understand the
passages on which it is based. The defiance passage of the Apology, when interpreted literally, does
indeed seem to contradict the obedience to the state espoused in the

Appointed by the company s new owner, Charles Boswell, the plan was for Robyn to have 12 months
working with Gunerson before his retirement, but death intervened. Now Robyn must learn the
business in a fast pace and keep it running without him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Robyn should start by getting more understanding about the product, afterward she must wrestle with
the issue of what directional path the company should take and what changes in the company s
product market customer technology focus would improve its current market position and future
prospects. Deciding to commit the company to one path versus another pushes managers to draw some
carefully reasoned conclusions about how to try to modify the company s business makeup and the
market position it should stake out. She must consider a number of direction shaping factors where to
head and why such a direction makes a good business sense.
Looking into the case, some external considerations to start the first phase :
1. Sales situation : sales are slipping down from 10 Mio in 1973 to 8.4 Mio in 1975. Market for
outboard boat and outboard motor has been declining by almost 40% from 1973 to 1975 (recession
and raw material prices). 64% of the company product is Outboard boat. Inboard motor shows a rather
steady sales in the past two years, but the average price per unit has increased and therefore in terms
of value the inboard boat segment shows an increase trend.
2. Potential growth in the pleasure boat segment. Trailer sales is expected to pick up as the new type
customers avoid the complicated club / marina membership. Significant

I Want To Be An Engineer In America
I have an aptitude for science and mathematics as evidenced by my high school record. There has
never been a doubt in my mind: I am destined to be an engineer. I inherited this from my father s
family of engineers whose background is in the farming and construction industries. But, my interest
in engineering developed further after several trips to visit my mother s family in Honduras. I began
thinking about the poverty, crime, and poor infrastructure. This triggered a question and interest in me:
How can I help improve Third World countries using engineering advancements? I had never been
exposed to the level of poverty and fear of violence that I saw when we made our first trip to San
Pedro Sula, Honduras. Honduras is now known as the murder capital of the world, and, as we drove
through my mother s beautiful country, I was impacted by how privileged we are to ... Show more

Per Adams, we may well be the only people on the planet who tend to believe, without irony, that
Thomas Paine was right when he declared that we have it in our power to begin the world over again.
In fact we don t have that power in the United States anymore. But from generation to generation,
Americans have dreamed of steady personal and national progress. The pursuit of happiness is a
phrase that moved from theory to reality in the New World. There was an endless frontier, amazing
natural resources, and combined with the American work ethic, it made the pursuit of happiness a
reality. If people were willing to work, they stood a chance of transcending the circumstances of their
father and their father s father. Now we hear arguments that the American Dream is about materialism;
chasing profit and power. To a poor family in Honduras, their dream is about feeding their family and
about freedom from oppression and

Monologue Of Jacqueline Walker
Hi, Im Jacqueline Walker. Otherwise known as Jackie. Now, this isn t one of those cliche high school
stories, where the main character goes from rags to riches, or vise versa. It s actually about two girls,
and i m both. ~Weeks Before.~
*Beep* *Beep* My alarm clock sounded. Ugh. I groaned, it was the end of spring break, and I knew I
had to go back to my dreadful High School. Once I finally got out of bed, I banged on the bathroom
door. Nobody is in there, Good. I thought, heading into the small room.
~At School~
Speeding towards english class, I dumped my History textbooks in my mangled up locker. I still had

~The Next Week.~
The movie went well, we all talked, and got pretty close. I was invited to sit at their table during
lunch, and nothing much else really happened.
I enjoyed the first month of popularity, but it started to end as soon as I took it too far, just the way I

Soon enough, everybody wanted to be my friend, I had boys crowding me, people wanting to take
selfies with me. Until, I saw Mason, in the back of the crowd, he gave me a disappointed look, and
walked off.
It turns out, that Morgan also liked Mason, and when she found out I was dating him, It didn t go so
well. Mason started had grown to hate Alya, and I was a full blown outcast. People threw food at me
during lunch, I was booed at during presentations. I went too far. I thought, running into the bathroom,
crying.
I only had a little bit of Jacquelines blood left, and I was going to use it. No more Alya, no more Alya
forever.
Soon enough, the needle was empty. I didn t have enough to turn back into Jacqueline. I nimbly pulled
the needle out of my arm. AGH! I

Descriptive Essay Vacation
Vacation cousin The drive to North Carolina was very long and boring . When will we be at the hotel?
I had asked, In about 4 hours. My dad told me. Over the summer, my family and I went to North
Carolina to celebrate my grand parent s 50th anniversary and my cousins were driving up from Florida
to meet us at the beach house. My grandparents took a plane up to Michigan to spend a lot of time
with us. They also came up to see some old friends and help at my house. I was looking forward to
spend a lot of time with mys who I hadn t seen in at least a year. The only entertainment I had was a
book that I had finished and my phone. The whole time my brother was being loud, Ben can you quiet
down?
No
Mom can you tell Ben to be quiet? I asked, Ben be quiet
Okay
I could finally try to sleep but couldn t find a comfortable spot to sleep. When I turned to the left, the
seat belt was in my face and when I turned right, I would fall into the middle of the seats.
When we finally reached the hotel, we unloaded and when out to dinner at a Texas Steak House that
was right across the street from the hotel that we were staying at.
When we got back to the hotel, I looked for my bed and it looked like I was sleeping on the pull out
couch but that was fine with me. When I woke up, I felt like I slept better on that pull out couch then
in my bed at home. I got dressed in clothes that I could wear i n the car for a long time and went down
to the main floor of the hotel to eat breakfast with my grandparents.
After a while, my parents, sisters ,and younger brother came walking down into the cafeteria to eat
and it was about 7:00 and we were going to leave at about 8:00 so we had time. The cafeteria was full
of people traveling in and out of the hotel. There was a long line of trying to figure out what they were
going to eat and little kids running around.
4 Hours Later...
The Following day, We had finally made it! We were in a nice warm place and we were right on the
beach. I quickly got out of the car and made a break for the beach house and opened the door to the
house. The inside was homey and modern. I quickly went outside to get my stuff just at the same time
that my cousins arrived. All 6 of them burst

  • 3. The Ideal Of Heroism The ideal of heroism in comics is displayed as that of normal citizens taking action against the tides of evil in the world. The fantastical element of super strength, uncanny agility, and web slinging exploits are paled in comparison to what lives in the heart of a hero according to comics. Superheroes, or supervillains, are not gods who come down from heaven to save or destroy us, though there are exceptions, but are instead the human spirit uplifted to a point of power. In comics, a hero is someone who does the right thing even if it is difficult, because they are, or should, be the best of us. In Spider Man, heroism is the responsibility to make the world a better place that motivated by the death of his uncle. Peter Parker wishes to bring less heartache to the world; he wishes to prevent what happened to him from happening to others. Peter Parker sacrifices nearly everything in his life in the pursuit of protecting the city but that is not how it began. In the beginning of his career being Spider Man was a means to an end to gain respect and pay the bills. For Luke Cage a hero is his new identity built from the ashes of his former life. Heroism is an occupation for Luke Cage to regain what was taken from him. But does this monetary influence somehow dampen the heroics of Spider Man and Luke Cage? And if they both are using their powers to make a better world it begs the question; what does it mean to make the world a better place? What actions are allowed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

History of the Funeral Rule Essay HISTORY OF THE FUNERAL RULE The roots of the Funeral Rule are found in two books that were published in the late 60 s Unsafe At Any Speed by Ralph Nader and The American Way of Death by Jessica Midford. In the late 1960 s, the FTC was a paper tiger. Ralph Nader, who began the consumer protection movement in this country with the publication of Unsafe At Any Speed, was a sharp critic of the Federal Trade Commission for its lack of consumer protection. Specifically, the FTC was criticized because it relied too heavily on consumer complaints and brought enforcement actions only on a case by case basis. In March, 1976, the FTC received over 9,000 comments on the proposed rulemaking. The Final Notice of Rulemaking was published in 1976 and identified 30 disputed areas of fact. These were the focus of six public hearings that were held from April through August of 1976. There were 315 witnesses, many of which provided anecdotal evidence. There was very little empirical data such as surveys and valid economic studies. Following the hearings, the presiding officer issued his report. Additional comments were submitted by the public and the Final Staff Report was delivered to the Commission in 1979. The FTC tentatively approved the Funeral Rule in March, 1979. The funeral industry went to Congress and was able to obtain some relief in the form of the FTC Improvements Act of 1980. That statute imposed new procedural safeguards in the FTC rulemaking process. It also required the FTC to republish the Funeral Rule and take additional comments using the new procedural safeguards. In 1981, the FTC republished the Rule and began a new proceeding. That led to the promulgation of the Funeral Rule in 1982. After the NFDA unsuccessfully appealed the Rule to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Rule took effect on January 1, 1984. The Funeral Rule which was finally adopted was less onerous then the one originally proposed. NFDA was successful in having certain provisions deleted from the original Rule such as a requirement to have written ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Let s travel back to 304 BC, when the new prince Ashoka Maurya was born to Rani Shubhadrangi and Maharaja Bindusara, in the ancient city of Patliputra (Which is now alongside modern day Patna). Ashoka grew up to be a dauntless, troublesome and savage young man. He admired hunting, and legend has it, he killed a lion only with a wooden stick. His older half brothers were alarmed by this, as they feared Ashoka, and persuaded their father to post him as a general to distant borders of the Mauryan Empire. In the book, The Great Gatsby, the author Francis Scott Fitzgerald, described a place of dispirited contents. The impact of the setting of The Valley of Ashes in The Great Gatsby is affecting the characters. It makes the characters determined to achieve more. The setting creates a gloomy and depressing tone. Word choice helps emphasize the impact of the setting. To begin with, The Valley of Ashes affects the characters in The Great Gatsby in a purposeful way. No one really wants to experience the life in The Valley of Ashes; so many of the characters strive to be more. For example, Myrtle actually lives in this bleak city, but she is determined to make it out. When describing work in this environment Nick says, ...of men who move dimly and already crumbling through the powdery air (20). This implies that the men were over worked, but word choice emphasizes how men were such over worked that their lives were basically declining, because of the work environment of powdery (polluted) air. This article begins with a story about a man by the name of Tobin Holmes who feared he couldn t take on his job s responsibilities because he wasn t good enough. Tobin felt he was an imposter and would be exposed for who he truly was. Neurotic imposture can take toll over successful people and turn their life for the worse; a success into a failure. Vries explained, to some extent, of course, we are all impostors . As humans we take on the roles that try to show a different side to others publicly and then a private, different life. These processes are done over time, culture, and geographic boundaries, while this has become a common practice for organizations and has give rise to the concept of globally dispersed teams known as virtual teams (LaLonde, 2011). Communication is one of the most necessary components of leadership, without communication there would be no teams, nobody would know what their role on the team would be, there would be no procedures ... When a virtual team is established there are many reasons why the team was developed, the main reason would be physical locations from one another. When teams are spread out over a long distance it can be very time consuming as well as costly to travel to that current location for a meeting, while the meeting could be conducted via the internet and conference call. Even though a team is only communicating in the virtual reality, there are many aspects of the first initial meeting that need to be made to make the team as effective as possible. According to Nyström amp; Asproth, once initial contact has been made there needs to be standards that need to be set for a positive communication standard. Technology According to Pitts (p.3), Training is a very large issue related to communication in a virtual team, either the team members do not have enough training when it comes to technology or they are simply lacking the equipment needed to communication in a professional manner. While LaLonde (p.8) states that the information technology provides the influence necessary to support the development and expansion of new organizational infrastructure. • 9. The Nexus Between Human Resource Management And... Introduction The nexus between human resource management and organisational performance represents an issue of strategic importance to organisations. Hence, many HRM practices were regarded as being more important than others in contributing to organisations competitive advantage. ( Delery and Doty ,1996 ; Tzafrir, 2006 ). Several HRM practitioners and academics tried to integrate such useful practices into a set that can be universally applicable to all organisations. ( MacDuffie 1995 ; Pffefer 1998 ; Wood 1995 ) . However, that last two decades witnessed increasing studies that acknowledged the significance of context and strategy when identifying HRM practices that are vital to success. (Boxal and Purcell 2011) . The purpose of this essay is not to engage in the broad debate regarding universalistic and contingency approaches of HRM, but to assess empirically; to what extent a universal approach can fit with different strategies and be applied in different contexts. Thus, it will be argued that although strong evidence exists in support of best fit approaches, a best practice approach that improves organisational effectiveness can be applied to a certain level in organisations. This essay attempts firstly, to unpack the complications of universalism in HRM by laying out what best practice or high commitment HRM is, the notion of bundling, links to performance, and best practices position compared to other approaches, emphasizing strategic fit and context . Secondly, it presents and evaluates the empirical evidence for and against universalism and examines its effectiveness when used in organisations. Lastly, it concludes with a summary of arguments presented and identifies a point on the scale of universality in HRM in light of evidence stated in the work. What is Best Practice HRM? According to Beardwell et al (2004), the introduction of best practice HRM was a key contribution to strategic human resource management. The advocates of this approach demonstrate that organisations will improve their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Let s see if we can sort them out and determine the dominant ones from the lesser ones. The pain which the audience experiences is no accident, but rather one of the themes written into the play. Critic Caroline Spurgeon in Shakespeare s Imagery and What it Tells Us explains the significant contribution which imagery makes to the theme of pain and unpleasantness running through the play: The main image in Othello is that of animals in action, preying upon one another, mischievous, lascivious, cruel or suffering, and through these, the general sense of pain and unpleasantness is much increased ... Francis Ferguson in Two Worldviews Echo Each Other describes: On the contrary, in the world of his philosophy and his imagination, where his spirit lives, there is no cure for passion. He is, behind his mask, as restless as a cage of those cruel and lustful monkeys that he mentions so often. • 12. The Poetry Of Robert Frost The purpose of this essay is to examine the poetry of Robert Frost for references to themes of nature, religion, and humanity and how they relate to each other. This exercise will be prefaced with a brief introduction to the man and his life as a segue to better understanding Frost s verse. The unexpected but unavoidable aim of this composition will be to realize that Frost s body of work is almost too sophisticated to comprehend, his manipulation of language so elusive that each reader may believe Frost is speaking only to them, as the only incontrovertible truth is the poems operate on so many levels . The reader should note that no discussion will be offered on poetry form, as that is a consideration best left to literary experts, and otherwise is not germane to thematic consideration. However, it takes little competence, more an openness, to allow the paean, hymnal lyricism of Frost s words to insinuate themselves into one s inner voice; synchronizing with his struggle to explain our very existence. That, instead, will be the focus of the paper. Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874 and died in January 1963 at the age of 86. He was born in San Francisco but relocated with his mother to Massachusetts upon his father s death to live on his grandparents farm. • 15. Our Comprehensive Synthesis Of Available Evidence Showed A... Our comprehensive synthesis of available evidence showed a strong association between the LISA and the risk of late/very late ST and MI during the post imaging follow up. The low incidence of ST events over 18,145 person months follow up (≈1.4% ST per person year) in LISA group explains the limited power of previous studies evaluating this association. Our results are consistent with a prior meta analysis of five studies which found LISA to be associated with increased risk of late ST (OR = 6.51; 95% CI 1.34 34.91)(13). We extended these findings by including 11 additional studies and longer follow up of previous studies published subsequently. Also, we accounted for variable follow up period of included studies by using person months as offset rather than the number of patients in each group. Moreover, as recommended in literature (17 18), we used multiple statistical methods as part of our sensitivity analysis to assess the robustness of our findings. Our finding stood the test of these sensitivity analysis confirming a strong association between LISA ( and LAISA) and late/very late ST. Although we found a significant association between LISA and clinical events (ST and MI), our results do not establish a cause and effect relationship. The two cohorts, LISA and control, were unbalanced on one or more characteristics in all included studies. The practice of BDSM has become a hot topic in our society lately since the book Fifty Shades of Grey went public in 2011. BDSM is an acronym for bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, and sadism /masochism. The term BDSM is defined as a variety of erotic practices involving power play. Now because this term does not cover everyone in the kink community, known as an umbrella term, people are now starting to use the term WIIWD, which stands for What it is we do . Josh Obrien Canadian Studies 339 UCID #00278635 In Canada there is a strong reflection of our cultural diversity and tolerance through our television shows, as they have the ability to use the humour of realistic narratives and social dynamics to highlight social equality and intercultural balance. A recent show that did this was Canadian television show Little Mosque on the Prairie, created by Zarqa Nawaz through WestWind Pictures. It was filmed in Toronto Ontario and a small community named Indian Head Saskatewan. The show aired in 2007, but was then rebroadcast to other countries including parts of Africa, Israel and Gaza strip (Macdonald 2012). Zarqa Nawaz based much of the show on her personal experiences, and many of the characters are partially inspired by her family and friends. Nawaz claims that the nature of the show is not necessarily a satire, rather she states: Little Mosque on the Prairie is a sit com and not a political satire. I want people to find the hilarity in the show and recognize the similar issues that appear in all our lives. It s important to normalize the community within the greater community so as not to be seen as the other but to recognize that we all have universal themes which exist in all communities. Ageism, or the prejudice and discrimination associated with a person s age, has become a widely researched topic among scholars over the last few decades. The deficit model of ageing characterizes old age as a pathological condition in which individuals undergo physical and mental decline (Allen, 2011). Growing old has developed into a major social problem in Western culture, and most individuals accept the stereotypes and stigma related to ageing. Companies, often phase out older employees by hiring young individuals who are perceived as being less of a risk, and more of an asset to the company. The exclusion of older individuals is especially prevalent in industries related to media and professional sports. Media, favors young individuals because they convey an image of beauty, vigour, and energy. Similarly, professional athletes are often forced to retire early, due to the recruitment process of professional sports teams. The objective of this study aims to uncover ageism in the dance community, because dance combines beauty and athleticism, two traits that are considered to decline with age. The study discusses age discrimination within the dance community through an exploration of previous research conducted on the topic, and a qualitative analysis of interviews conducted with three dancers via email. According to Health Canada First Nation people and Inuit people are more at risk to receive HIV. In a trend over the past few years, it has been seen that natives are being infected at a significantly younger age than non aboriginal people. This could be because the aboriginal people are treated differently in Canada so that they don t receive the same health coverage that the rest of the Canadians do. It is unfortunate that the highest cause of HIV transition between aboriginal people is injection drugs. The Canadian government should be enforcing the same drug laws that we have in other parts of Canada on the reserves. It is known that Aboriginal people have adjusted some of the laws on their reserves to accompany their customs and culture. Yet, the HIV count is rising in the aboriginal people, and if not properly taken care of, people may be more prone to different diseases. Also, some health care benefits that we receive are not translated to the aboriginal population. • 29. An Idea That Protects A Proprietor s Land Title Indefeasibility Introduction Indefeasibility of title is an idea that protects a proprietor s land title. It allows for the proprietor to be immune from attack by adverse claims and interests in the land, in which he, the proprietor, is registered. This concept is based around the Torrens system in New Zealand, this concept consists of three main principles, the mirror, the curtain and the insurance principles. This essay will discuss the concept of indefeasibility of title, the Torrens system and how these have provided security of title for land owners in New Zealand. I will also report on two significant cases that will illustrate the concept of Indefeasibility of title, they are Frazer v Walker and Efstratiou, Glantschnig and Petrovic v Glatnschnig. Common Law Common law was implemented in New Zealand when the British settlers arrived. It was in accordance with English law and was known as the Deeds system and Act and was replaced by the Torrens system in 1870. Common Law basically stated that no one could confer a better title than the one they have and therefore if a deed was deemed invalid, so too was the title (Hinde 2013). Torrens System The Torrens system is what indefeasibility of title has been built around. It has existed since 1870 and has been refined and is now found in the Land Transfer Act 1952. The system, as mentioned earlier, consists of three principles, the mirror principle, the curtain principle and the insurance principle. The Mirror principle: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The typical immigrant does not come to American with the intentions of becoming wealthy. They come to American to have a better opportunity in life. To be able to own a home, work and have a family. According to The New York Times, The phrase American dream was invented during the Great Depression. It comes from a popular 1931 book by the historian James Truslow Adama, who defines it as, that dream of a land in while life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone. In the decades that followed, the dream became a reality. Thanks to rapid, widely shared economic growth, nearly all children grew up to achieve the most basic definition of a better life earning more money and enjoying higher living standards than their parents had. Learning that us Americans are likely to achieve the American dream shows that it is all that much more difficult for immigrants and even more so for illegal immigrants. Ben presented an earlier version of this paper at the ACTC Student Conference at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, in March, 2011.) When reading the Apology and the Crito of Plato, one inevitably comes upon a seeming fundamental contradiction between the two dialogues. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather, it clears the debate considerably. If the Apology passage is shown to have been made in defiance of an illegal court procedure, then the Apology passage cannot be taken as evidence of Socratic support of civil disobedience. Such evidence, coupled with the obedience to law proscribed in the Crito, allows the supposed contradiction between the two dialogues to be dismissed. In order to analyze the Apology and the Crito in relation to each other, one must first make an assumption that has not been proven to any significant extent. One must assume that the Socrates character within the two dialogues is both consistent and trustworthy in espousing philosophical arguments. By accepting this assumption, one can evaluate the inconsistencies within the two Socratic dialogues as if they were a complete, consistent whole. Following such an assumption, one can examine the philosophy in the Apology in relation to that within the Crito with logical bearing. In order to understand the seeming contradiction between the two works, one must understand the passages on which it is based.
