Saint Is The Second Set Of The Boxers And Saints Novels.
Saint is the second set of the Boxers and Saints novels. The saints tells the story of Four Girl or
Vibiana and her struggle in the family, her spiritual journey, and her responses toward the situation
in her society . Belonged to the historical fiction genre , the story of Vibiana is built around the
Boxers rebellion event in China in the 19th century.
It is narrated that the main character was born as the fourth child in a family. Four is a bad number
in Chinese belief and culture. Born on the same day that her father s death, combined with the fact
that she was the fourth child, her grandfather refuses to name her . Her mother then chose to just
call her Four girl . Four girl growing up wanting to have recognition from her ... Show more content

When she was nine years old, four girl met a girl mystical figure in the forest, roasting the
raccoon for dinner. In her search of the answer, she went to the forest and witnessed Gabriel
giving revelation to Joan . With that sight, she committed herself to join the training in the church
(catechism). Four Girl asked whether there would be cookies available in the teaching of the
classes she attended ( p. 57) and how she devoured the lunch reward after catechism ( p.59). Page
58 reveals how critical Four Girl was on the teaching and the concept of Christianity. Dr. Won
interpreted this as a desire to know ( p. 59) and that she has spiritual sensitivty .
The catechism classes have convinced Four Girl to embrace Christianity. So she was then
baptized under the watchful eyes of Dr. Won , Mrs. Won , and Joan. Returning home, her uncle
and Chun her cousin, were waiting for her. Chun was ordered by his father to teach Vibiana, her
new name, a lesson for being a Christian . After the incident, her mother told the story of her
father who joined a foreign cult and ended up having a tragic life and death. Her mother wanted
her to leave the foreign religion and apologize to the family. That night, she decided to leave the
house and followed Father Bey .
The story moved forward to the age when she was 14. In a dialog, Father Bey asked whether God
had spoken to her about her vocation . After a series of questions, Vibiana concluded that she (
God) wanted to become a

Prejudice and Discrimination of the Chinese in Indonesia

Increased prices of food, food shortages, and layoffs fueled the anger that Indonesians felt. Because
of the few wealthy Chinese business owners, indigenous Indonesians felt that the Chinese people
controlled the wealth in Indonesia. During these riots, business and homes owned by Chinese
people were destroyed as well as a majority of Chinatown in the capital city of Jakarta. In addition
to property damage, Chinese women were a target for brutal rapes and murders. (Turner, 2007)
In 1966 as an attempt to bring peace to the country, President Abdurrahman Wahid abolished the
presidential decree 14/1967, which had legalized discrimination against the Chinese. (Knorr,
2009) Excellent job Today Chinese people make up only 2 3% of the total population in
Indonesia. Chinese newspapers are now circulating but because of the events from the past,
Chinese Indonesians rarely are able to read or speak the language of their ancestors. They struggle
to be Chinese enough . Although prejudice is still a factor, Chinese Indonesian people have re

The South Beach Diet
The high starch carbohydrates the grains and cultivated root foods which are now such a large part
of our diet are quite new in evolutionary terms. For over seven hundred thousand years our
ancestors ate a diet of primarily meat, fat, nuts, wild roots, fruit and berries. They did have other
uses for carbohydrates they fermented them, fuelled their fires with them, built with them and fed
them to their animals. Recent discoveries of prehistoric human fossils have astounded scientists.
These were the hunter gatherers people who lived mainly on meat, roots and berries. Instead of

The Americans with Disability Act Essay
Usability is a critical portion of web design that one must be ever mindful of when constructing
websites. Whether creating a personal web space or building multiple pages for a large
corporation, it is the burden of the designer to guarantee people can access that content. According
to the United Nations, disabled people compose roughly 10 percent of the world s population
(United Nations, 2010). Many regulations and standards have been set forth to provide disabled
people with the same opportunities to access content available on the World Wide Web
, as it is most
of the World s population.

When considering visually impaired person one must use text colors that are easy to read with
the right combinations of colors as well as the right contrast adjustments. Additionally, color
blindness must be considered. There must be an alternative to images for individuals who cannot
view them in their browsers as well (for example, alt= text ). In addition, the use of screen reading
capabilities must be taken into account due to users that are visually impaired. For persons with
hearing impairments, audio content must have a text alternative provided, besides this, for users
who use alternative speech inputs, there should be a text equivalent. Web designers should also
direct their attention to other disabling conditions such as the need for alternative navigation
elements for people with learning disabilities or lower motor skills. There are also many tools
available to web designers to ensure that their sites are compliant with current ADA laws. In
accordance with the ADA s mission statement, the World Wide Consortium (W3) created the Web

The Energy Generator Ofgem Announced
Energy, especially electricity, is vital in today s economy however demand for electricity is
currently so high that the available supply may not be sufficient over the next 25 years. Electricity
lights our homes, powers our technology and is a fundamental factor in everybody s day to day
lives.
In 2012, the energy generator Ofgem announced that Great Britain risks running out of energy.
(Business, 2012). In the United Kingdom, equipment which is used to generate electricity has
suffered from years of under investment. This has resulted in an inefficient system that distributes
energy across the country. Most of the UK s electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels. In
2010, Energy UK reported that the UK currently use 47% natural gas and 28% coal to supply the
countries power. (Energy uk.org, 2010).
In 2007, the United Kingdom Government agreed to an overall European Union target of
generating 20% of the European Union s energy supply from renewable sources by 2020. The
total of all renewable electricity sources provided for 14.9% of the electricity generated in the
United Kingdom in 2013, reaching 53.7 TWh of electricity generated. (Daley, 2015).
Renewable energy is energy generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and
geothermal heat. Renewable energy technologies range from solar power, wind power,
hydroelectricity/micro hydro, biomass and biofuels for transportation. Solar power is recently

Analysis Of The One Thousand And One Nights
The Power of Underestimation On my 7th birthday, my least favorite uncle gave me a book
titled Alibaba and the Forty Thieves. I was surprised because he is my least favorite uncle for a
reason, he doesn t just surprise you with a gift for no reason at all. Little did I know, he just
succeeded in getting me to do exactly what I said I wasn t going to do all summer long, READ

to get me to change my initial decision of not reading any book during the summer. So failure to
recognize the strength in others makes us blind to our own weaknesses. In the One Thousand and

Australia s Economic Growth
Economic growth
An increase in the capacity of an economy to produce goods and services, compared from one
period of time to another.
Inflation is a general increase in prices and fall in the purchasing value of money.
The growth of an economy is thought of not only as an increase in productive capacity but also as
an improvement in the quality of life to the people of that economy.
For comparing one country s economic growth to another, GDP or GNP per capita should be used
as these take into account population differences between countries.
How is it measured?

services produced in an economy during a period of time.

Nanook Of The North Documentary
A documentary is an art form pulling away from a film as it tries to create the illusion of reality
by becoming non fiction. Film creates a great sense of escape but documentaries create a sense
of realism. The history of documentary began quite basic by just facing the mirror towards
nature. But as the years prolonged; ideologies, societies and controversies arose and documentary
makers decided to block certain parts of the mirror to show what they want you to see, the truth .
The very first documentary was released in 1922, Nanook of the North directed by Robert
Flaherty. This became the first sense of revealing nature and reality as itself, whilst creating a form
of narrative, as people tend to lean towards drama. In the contemporary world,... Show more content

Tuck Everlasting Point Of View
Time moves forward, and only forward. It s a circle we are born, raised, we live, then we die.
But have you ever imagined what would happen if you were endowed with immortality? What if
you could not die no matter how many decades had passed, while the world around you keeps
changing and everyone else keeps aging? Would it be wonderful to live forever like that? Then you
should take a look at Tuck Everlasting, a novel written by Natalie Babbittin 1975 which focuses on
the negative side of immortality.
The narrative point of view used in the novel is the third person omniscient, like most of the stories
we were told as children. Our narrator, the author, knows everything. She can zoom in and out on
all the characters, jump from place to place, and even read the thoughts of the main characters. The
Prologue tells us all:
At dawn, Mae Tuck set out on her horse...
At noontime, Winnie Foster, whose family owned the Treegap wood,...
And at sunset a stranger appeared at the Fosters gate.
There is no connection among them. But these are the three main storylines, and the narrator knows
them all. This point of view really fits a story with lots of characters, that spans many years and has
different settings like Tuck Everlasting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

events might happen in any small town. In the woods at the edge of Treegap, the Tucks live a

cabin is a plain, homely house with a charming disarray, and its inhabitants are friendly and
ostensibly prioritize human relationships above meticulous property maintenance. In contrast to the
disorganized and messy property of the Tucks, the Fosters house is guarded by a heavy iron gate
and a sign informing visitors they are unwelcome. Everything is neatly maintained and in its proper

Research Paper On Serena Williams
Serena Williams Attributes Her Success to Jehovah God
Serena Williams is the best women s tennis player in the world today, and has been virtually
unbeatable during much of the last two decades. At 33 years old, she is the oldest woman to
win a grand slam event in the open era, she has 21 slam victories just 1 behind Stephi Graf for
the most in the open era, and is only three slam wins behind Margaret Court, the phenom of the
60s and 70s, for the most slam wins in history. If she wins the U.S. Open later his year, she will
be the first woman to complete the calendar year slam since Graf did it in 1998. In doing so, she
will also have tied Graf as the winningest woman in the Open Era and 2nd most in history, just 2

Certainly a great work ethic plays a part, and her conditioning is top notch. If you ask her
coaches they will tell you about her exercise regimen and diet. If you ask Williams herself, you
may just get a smile, or you may get to hear about her faith in Jehovah God.
Williams does not talk about her faith much, but she is a Jehovah s Witness and attributes her
success to her faith. When she wins, she typically starts a victory interview with I want to thank
Jehovah God.
Jehovah Witnesses do not typically support organized sports and are rarely athletes. According to
the Huffington Post, the Witnesses avoid sports since they promote nationalism, violence and
celebrity all things Witnesses are supposed to avoid.
Williams still participates in church services and has witnessed door to door. She prays, and trusts
that Jehovah God will give her strength to do her best. Once, after winning the the Australian Open
she said, I was down and out and he helped me today and I just said prayers, not to win but to be
strong and to be healthy and in the end I was able to come through so I have to give the glory to

The Naegleria Fowleri Amoeba
Introduction
The Naegleria fowleri amoeba resides in lakes, rivers, thermal springs, dirty swimming pool and
sometimes soil. The amoebas thrive during the summer months due to the increase of
temperature(Shakoor, Beg, and Mahmood 258). Naegleria amoeba infects and targets brain tissue
of the central nervous system and the neuromuscular system. The central nervous system is
responsible for integrating and responding to neural signals. The nervous system and muscles in the
body work together to permit movement called the neuromuscular system. The brain is the main
control for integrating sensory neurons and coordinating body functions: voluntary and involuntary.
When needed to move a body part, a message is sent to the afferent sensory neurons, which go
through the brain and into the spinal cord where the efferent motor neurons send an electrical
signal to trigger the muscle to contract. Errors such as sliding of the actin and myosin filaments or
failure to release neurotransmitters from the neuron can happen. The infection causes primary
amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM) (Shakoor, Beg, and Mahmood 258).. It cannot be contracted
by person to person, or by drinking contaminated water. The amoeba enters the body via nose by
infected water and/or dust and penetrates the cribriform plate(Shenoy, Wilson, and Prashanth [Page
309]). It travels to the brain by the nerves that transmit olfactory senses and causes PAM. It causes
brain tissue damage and inflammation of the brain. The

Illegal Immigrants Crossing The Mexican American Border
America has long been the land of hopes and dreams. People from all over the world have come
to America for a better life. The United States has been referred to as the land of Freedom, a sign
of hope or even a place where the American Dream lives. The American Dream was thought to be
something in which every American seemed to already live and what every person dreamed of.
Many Immigrants coming to this land of the free have lost their lives or have suffered
immensely trying to make it here. Even though the number of immigrants who try to cross the
border has decreased, the number of deaths continues to increase. With all of the dangers, illegal
immigrants cross the Mexican American border because of the extreme temperatures of the
desert, the deceitful currents of the Rio Bravo, and the dangerous practices of coyotes . In my
paper I would like to focus on the struggles of immigrants crossing over and their journey. What
causes a person to leave their hometown, families, friends and everything they know to go on a
deadly trip in hope of a better life. Well the poor living conditions, drug wars, kidnappings, and
the hope of a better life leads people to take such a dangerous trip. In one of my Archives, Perez

trip to the Unites States. Perez describes, In Mexico, things weren t going well. The people were

Using The Credit Line Tied Down T Bill Rate
Answer 1.
I plan to use the credit line tied to the 3months T bill rate. In loanable funds market which
borrowers (my firm) demand funds and lenders supply them. The price in this market is interest rate.
Scenario a The growth rate of GDP in the U.S is expected to increase
Since there is an expectation on the U.S GDP to increase, this means the increasing labor force in
the market that indirectly increases the consumption and investments. May be the government s
spending potential is also increasing. These factors would create more demands in the loanable
funds market. So the demand and supply in the loanable funds market determines the interest rates.
The following exhibit 1a shows when demand is weak (D1) and the real interest rate low ... Show

Real interest rate = Nominal Interest Rate Inflationary premium
Exhibit 1b illustrates how inflation influences nominal interest rates. We consider a 3% market
interest rate as a stable price. Assume the expected rate of inflation is zero, there will be no
inflationary premium; under these conditions the nominal interest rate is equal to the real interest
rate. Now there is an expectation of inflation goes higher, forecasted 2% inflation, so the real
interest rate now becomes to 1% (based on the real interest rate formula). This case I am better off
my firm s future financing cost if I use the credit line.
Usually it is not going to work that way. When lenders expect inflation, they will be pushing the
interest rate upward by the expected inflation. This case the nominal interest rate is going to be 5%
and the real interest rate would become 3%. Lenders may not always forecast the future rate of
inflation accurately. If the inflation is higher than was expected then my firm will gain. On the
other hand if the inflation rate is less than anticipated then lenders will gain. Therefore, no reason
why the inflation will help either my firm or lenders.
Answer 2:

the price of a good or service and the quantity of it that consumers are willing to purchase . That

Analysis Of The Lament Of The Old Woman Of Beare
The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare , an Early Irish poem, is from the point of view of an
old woman who has begun to reflect on her life. The Wanderer , is spoken by a bard who has
been sent into exile after the death of his Lord. While in exile he begins to review his life, miss
everything he has lost and look at life on a more spiritual level. Both speakers are experiencing
what it feels like to be lonely because the people that were once there for them have either left or
they have passed away. With a melancholic and nostalgic tone, both poems express the idea that
people, youth, and the material world are all transient. However, both poems acknowledge that
although the pleasures and good things in life are fleeting, the solutions to the problem is God.
The speaker in The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare is feeling nostalgic, as she remembers
what the world was like during her younger years. The speaker says, I ve had my time with
kings, / drinking mead and wine;/ now I drink watery whey/ with wizened old women (90 93).
Here she is comparing the way she once lived to how she lives now. This example shows how she
has aged because she is no longer drinking wine with young kings and having fun. Instead, she is
drinking whey, a less flattering drink, with old women. While in exile, speaker of The Wanderer
also chooses to focus on the joys that no longer exist. He has lost his family, his lord, and his
home, and has no choice but to go into exile. The Wandererquestions what happened to the
comforts that he used to enjoy, Where are the seats of the feast? where are the joys of the hall?
(93). The Wanderer searches for a mead hall only to find that they are all toppled like his own, and
this leads him to realize that nothing lasts forever.
The decay of life joys arises in both poems. In The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare , it is
youth and the people around her, and in The Wanderer it is friendships, family, his lord, and the
comforts of his home. The Wanderer describes that earthly things will not last forever and will
eventually go to waste:
The wise man must realize how ghastly it will be when all the wealth of the world stands waste, as
now here and there throughout this

The Best Key Performance Indicators For The Godiva Monitor...
In my opinion, the five best key performance indicators for the Godiva to monitor and measure on
their ecommerce website are: number of unique visitors, bounce rate, conversion rate, average order
value, and repeat customer rate.
Unique visitors counts are important in determining between new versus returning site user traffic.
This data is helpful for counting hits to the landing page, and beneficial in counting hits to other
pages within the site as well. High traffic, and high returning traffic numbers are indicative of a
healthy on line business. The more frequently a user visits the site, the more opportunity that they
have to make a purchase. George Blitzer of Kommerzen.com indicates that more than one third of
traffic should represent repeat visitors. He also notes that rewarding these visitors with a loyalty
program is a great incentive to keep them coming back.
The bounce rate will provide Godiva with the number of times a site visitor leaves their website
right away. The bounce rate is calculated by the number of website page visitors that do not
engage with the page (do not click on links, or interact with the page) before abandoning the
page, divided by the total number of visits to the page within a given time frame. When the
bounce rate rises, Godiva knows that either the site user entered the page by accident, or the site
user was not interested in what they saw. A rise in bounce rate may potentially be caused by a
redesign of a website page, unappealing

Secondly, for student athletes who practice a sport and attend classes, it is often difficult to
complete both tasks. Many students begin to show less motivation making it harder to stay focus
and attend their required classes. This is the case of student athlete Cardale Jones, a quarterback for
the Universityof Ohio. After taking his sociology final exam, he commented that coming to class
was pointless when his only responsibility was to play football for the university (Tracy 1). Student
athletes start to show poor academic achievement when they consume a lot of time in their sports
and often forget about their role of being a student. For instance, when students are not able to
complete their school assignments during the day they decide to study late and do not sleep the
necessary hours they need in order for their bodies to function and their brains to focus. In this
case, the poor achievement in students is notable because they do not perform well in school and
do not have a good nutrition. They often do not have time to eat the required three meals a day that
their bodies need. The poor academic achievement is often noticeable when many coaches begin to
tell their athletes that they are not allowed to take classes that interfere with practice. This puts
athletes in a barrier when they have to balance the two roles of responsibility of attending class and
completing homework assignments and attending the games. Student athletes have a poor mental
and physical body

Economics of Rough Diamonds Essay
Countries in Africa rely heavily on their exportation of diamonds along with oil for income. The
revenue from the exportation of rough diamonds has either helped countries develop or lead to
catastrophic events. The economic comparison of countries that sell rough diamonds can vary
greatly. Some African countries strive for economic independence where as others have faced years
of conflict and poverty. The economic and political oversight of rough diamonds compared
differently throughout countries in Africa. Two countries that are plentiful in rough diamond
resources are Botswanaand Angola. These two countries took two different economic paths.

The leaders of Botswana wanted to improve the standard of living for their people and bring
economic independence to a newly democratic country. This agreement also helped protect
Botswana from rebels invading their country for diamonds. Angola s Government was overseen
by Portugal up until the mid 1970 s. Angola wanted to gain independence from Portugal and the
Portuguese Government was unwilling to do so. A liberation movement started causing three
different unified forces to form. Those forces were the Popular Movement for the Liberation of
Angola (MPLA), National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA), and the National Union
for the Total Independence (UNITA). These forces banded together to remove the Portuguese
government from power. By the late 1970 s, the MPLA was forming a new government under
their control. Even though, the MPLA gained control of the government, UNITA and FNLA
wanted to run the government also. The three once unified forces were now fighting amongst
each other for power and causing civil wars. Most of Angola s of rough diamonds were in areas
controlled by UNITA, which made it difficult for the MPLA to tap the rough diamonds as an
economic resource. UNITA on the other hand, saw this as a benefit to sell the illicit diamonds on
the black market. This non government organization took over the production and sales of Angola s
rough diamonds to fund their

Research Paper On Queen Elizabeth II
Queen Elizabeth II
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Queen Elizabeth II might be one of the most influential monarchs living today in this era of the
democratic states. With her rule over the Commonwealth Nations lasting for over fifty years, the
Queen has been very much popular with the public, not just in Great Britain or amongst the
Commonwealth Nations, but also amongst all the nations of the world.
The Queen s life might have only begun as the first child to the Duke and Duchess of York, but
instantly she came into attention of the nation with her strong bond with the then head of state,
King George V, who was also Elizabeth s grandfather. The qualities of Elizabeth had been
exemplary from the very start. Although a little mischievous as a child, Elizabeth was quite
mannered, polite and respectful.
After her father, King George VI, was crowned, Elizabeth became the natural successor to the
throne. With this face, a sense of responsibility arose within her, making her more active towards
the matters of national interest. She had already become famous amongst the public with her very
first broadcast to console, strengthen and assure the war stricken children of the nation. Her efforts
to assist the country in the tome of war showed her courage, bravery and love for the nation and its
people.
After her marriage with Duke of Edinburgh and then replacing her deceased father as the head of
the state, Elizabeth had shown immense maturity as she kept working tirelessly to uphold the

Missionary Trip To America Research Paper
By attending the missionary trip to South Africa, I have touched the lives of many just as they
have for me in their own ways. However, they may not even realize that they have changed my
life for the better. Some touches are like a ripple in the water; blending and mixing to create a
beautiful harmony. Others are like a splash. They transform people s lives with grace, mercy, and
forgiveness; they bring people closer. When one thinks of a mission trip, what is the general
assumed illustration? A group of Christians reconstructing non believers into religious disciples?
Churches being built so that worshippers have someplace to go to interact with Christ? For me, a
mission trip can be that or something small, like we seemed to do while recently visiting Southern
Africa. Visiting South Africa provided an extraordinary experience for me. One thing I realized is
how Christians can change the world by working together, rather than as an individual not that they

What is the purpose of this when we can just read scriptures or listen to preachers from the
comfort of our homes? Be that as it may, Christians go to church in order to come together and
to try to help each other mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We go to church for
fellowship, discipleship, and for evangelism. Evangelism is all about spreading the gospel to the
world, which the church helps to do firsthand. The gospel has a lot of teachings, but they cannot
all be summed up by the church. In Africa, my eyes were opened to the realization that schools
and hospital can also help partake in making the world a better place. While I was aware of this
when in states, I was also partially blinded. In my hometown, especially when sickness happens, I
have so often seen Jesus be dismissed when illness occurs; and while this may too be the case in
some citizens in Africa, the stories that I heard in regards to ailment where about faith and

Why I Started Middle School Essay
Whenever I first began middle school, I was well aware of the new and divergent obstacles I
would come across. The classes would become more advanced, teachers more strict, and lunches
more disgusting. During my 6th grade year, this change became clear. As my homework was piling
up, so was my stress. Balancing school, sports, and family timehad never been an unchallenging
task, but I never have and never will let that be the reason for my grades to drop. The immense
amount of effort I put into school is one consistent quality I possess that will never disintegrate,
as opposed to what one teacher said. Sometime during my 6th grade year, parent teacher
conferences were arriving. I was used to them at this point. I was expecting my mom to come
home from the conference and give me the same report from my teachers as usual that I worked
hard, received good grades, and was a well behaved student. However, this time, I heard entirely
different feedback. When my mom walked into the kitchen that evening, where I was doing
homework, she gave me a funny look. She was grinning, but still looked puzzled.
Minorly concerned, I asked her, How did the parent teacher conferences go?
She quickly responded, Your sisters meetings went great, as usual.
Right after she said that, she went silent. I wondered why she was not mentioning anything about
her meeting with my teacher, Mr. Frick. I became very anxious, even though I could not recall a
time when Mr. Frick had gotten

Power of Langston Hughes Harlem (A Dream Deferred) Essay
Power of Langston Hughes Harlem (A Dream Deferred)
In our journey through life, we all have certain expectations of how we would like our lives to
be. All of us strive to reach a certain level of self actulization and acceptance. It could thus be said
that all of us live a dream. Some of these individual dreams inevitably become the collective dream
of many people. In Harlem (A Dream Deferred) , Langston Hughes makes use of symbolism as well
as powerful sensory imagery to show us the emotions that he and his people go through in their
quest for freedom and equality. By using questions he builds the poem towards an exciting climax.
Hughes wants to know What happens to a dream deferred? He asks this question as an introduction

It gives us an example of the resentment that is growing. People are getting more inflamed
emotionally, just like the wound gets worse if not treated. It draws a clear parallel between people
s emotions and the images of the sore. Just as an untreated sore will not heal, but get more
infected, a deferred dream will not go away, but become more intense. A wound that gets worse
will eventually start to smell bad. Hughes compares this to rotten meat. Does it stink like rotten
meat? This image creates the idea that unrealized dreams will bring out the worst in men. It also
means that for some the realization of their dreams will become less attractive.
Next he uses the symbol of sugar, or sweetness. This creates the false image that all is well, almost
as if this is the way it is meant to be. However, our minds still stick to the festering sore that is
under the Sweet crust. Hughes uses this image as a transition to the only statement in the poem that
is not in the form of a question.
The reason he does not use a question in the phrase; Maybe it just sags like a heavy load, is to
create an image of defeat. When people grow old and tired, their shoulders are bent as if they are
carrying a heavy load. Old women s breasts sag as a result of the natural aging process. There is
nothing we can do to stop aging. Eventually we all have to give up the struggle and die. Does a

Why School Should Be Searched
firstly, I think that school should be searched because it would make the school safe. It will
make the school safer because it will get rid of drug and weapon in the school. BY searching the
school for drugs it will send the drugs to jail and or to drug abuse place to help them. Also by
arrested the kid that have drugon them it will teaches them a lesson to not do drug and not to
bring them to school. Also you can find there deal and send him to jail for traffic . Over all it
would make the city and the school s better as there is one more drug dealer off the street to sell
to kids. with one of the effect of most drug is that impact your learning, so if there were no
people that do drug in the school the school avenge will go up and less of a chance of doing
stupid thing like starting a fight or bring a weapon to school. Also by getting rid of weapon at
school it will make them safe. there have been many shooting in Canada and around the world.
Most notably in the USA. But Canada still has it fair share of shooting such as 2013: Les
Racines de vie Montessori were two men died during the shooting. 2006: Dawson College,
Montreal one woman was killed and Another 19 people were injured and the most recent and the
worst Canadian school shooting in a decade the La Loche, Sask., shooting left four people dead. If

Thai Mutual Fund Performance Skill or Luck
ABSTRACT
Using a data set on Thai open end domestic equity funds over the June 2000 to October 2007
period. We apply a Bootstrap methodology to distinguish between skill and luck for the individual
funds. A Bootstrap approach is necessary because the nonnormal distributions of individual fund

Research Question
With mutual fund alphas that deviate significantly from normality, how many funds from a large
group would we expect to exhibit high alphas simply due to luck, and how does this figure
compare to the number we actually observe?
3
Objectives of the Study
1. To study performance of equity funds in Thailand whether equity funds outperform the
benchmark. 2. To study whether performance of equity funds in Thailand is due to genuine stock
picking skill or in part of luck.
3. To study the performance persistence of equity funds in Thailand.
Scope of the Study
Weekly returns of the universe of Thai open end, domestic equity funds which have been operated
during 2000 to 2007 period.
Limitation of Study
1. The returns used in this research are returns of mutual funds. So, we can only evaluate the stock
picking skill of all managers of funds, not skill of individual fund manager. 2. The returns used in
this research are not the net returns, which already deducts management fee. So, there is possibility
that the underperformed fund is caused by ineffective management of fund not from lack of
manager‟s skill.
Contribution of the Study
To guide the investors of equity funds in Thailand how to invest in the outperformed fund by
considering past performance of fund and genuine stock picking

Fashion Career Purpose Essay
Growing up, I dreamt of getting a job that I enjoy so much that it would feel like I was not
working. It is imperative that the career I pursue satisfies both my internal and external needs. I do
not want to settle for anything other than a job that I love. During my junior year in high school, I
created a fashioninspired blog. Since I enjoyed watching celebrities on the red carpet, and
segments discussing trends and personal styles, I wanted a different platform where I can write
and discuss my own views. I curated a fashion inspired blog on Tumblr where I wrote pieces of
what I thought was stylish and trendy. Having a blog combined two of my greatest interests:

Albert Camus Death
The thematics of death are almost infinite. And with many possibilities there is no surprise that
death can play an important role into the theme of a book. One case of this is shown in Albert
Camus s The Stranger where Meursault, the narrator of the book, dies. When approaching his
execution he understands that no one person has significant worth. That shows a philosophical
view/theme that no other book has shown as clearly before it.
Throughout the book you can sense the buildup to Camus central message. This came to a point
when Meursault is killed. He seemed indifferent to any situation he was in, even after learning his
neighbor was beating his mistress. He still agreed to be friends because he doesn t really care for
the woman, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Camus argues that there is only one thing certain in life and that is death. Meursault doesn t fully
understand this until right before he is about to be guillotined. He realizes that he has no meaning
and is not special. He will be born then die just like everyone else.
As you uncover his peculiarities, you may be confused on why the writer would make him this
way but it is all cleared up when he is killed. Meursault is being executed for a crime he did for
no reason, however; he seems unworried by his situation even after a sad conversation with
Marie in the prison cell. Before he is killed he gives a very important quote that shows the
philosophy the books wants to portray, for everything to be consummated, for me to feel less
alone, I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and
that they greet me with cries of hate . This quote shows above all else that humans are ultimately
responsible for their acts whether good or bad.
Death plays many roles in books it is often used to develop major themes. This is especially the
case in Albert Camus s book, The Stranger . Meursault s death is a vital aspect to show the book s
theme. Without the message his death brings the story would not be the

Death by Landscape and the Canadian Identity Essay
Death by Landscape Death by Landscape shows subtle, but nonetheless significant, qualities
regarding Canadian culture. The author (Margaret Atwood) uses Canadian landscape, Native
culture, and character attributes to symbolize the Canadian identity. The struggle between Native
Canadians and European Canadians to define what makes somebody Canadian is a major theme in
this story. The historically inaccurate depiction of Native practices, as well as the less than
flattering depiction of Native people, is an all too real issue which is alluded to in this story.
Another major reference to Canadian identity is the depiction of the differences between Americans
and Canadians. The characters, Lucy and Lois, symbolize Americans and Canadians.... Show more

So they have created extreme renditions of Native peoples both negative and positive. Negative,
so that they themselves can feel superior by comparison. Positive so that they can have
something to conform to. A truly Canadian ceremony that they feel their ancestors may have
lacked. The use of exaggerated Native practices enriches the story, because it triggers a feeling
of distaste with Lois as well as the reader. However, they also bring up an unspoken conflict
within the Canadian identity between Native and European culture. The use of these practices
demonstrates the need for European Canadians to both mock and Emulate Native practices. A
major focus of this story is the Canadian landscape, and how it affects its residents. It is an
accurate demonstration of how nature affects the Canadian identity. The Canadian wilderness
becomes a part of Lois through the tragedy that has occurred. Although she realizes it late, the
landscape of the wild has become a part of her personal identity. As she ages, Lois slowly
becomes more aware of her obsession with the Canadian wilderness. This quotation demonstrates
her recognition, at the beginning of the story, of her relationship with the Canadian wilderness. #4

say that living in the 60 s was a better time of life compared to now, but let s consider what went
wrong during that time. For example females and minorities were treated unequally and were

Once the law is set or made there must be a force to compel obedience from subjects of that law.
Karma law is a conception or an idea developed by founders of Hinduism, presumably by the
Aryans and may have been later adopted by reformers like Sri Krishna and Buddha, who passed
on this idea to their followers. Although Karma laws are associated with a set of moral values and
ethical conducts, no one is compelled to follow and practice such values and ethics because there is
no authority to enforce that law.
To enforce means, to encourage subjects to follow these laws in return for rewards or to discourage
would be criminals from breaking the law through threats of punishments. To implement any law
there must be a mechanism of enforcement. To say that a law can act on its own is an implausible
proposition.
In fact, man made laws could not be implemented without the involvement of enforcement bodies
like the police force, prosecutors, judges and courts of laws. For instance, in any country there are
laws enacted to prevent stealing, an act which is pernicious and could cause disorder to social life.
Punishments appropriated by law for acts of stealing could be a fine, caning or

The Legal Responsibilities Of Surrogacy
What is surrogacy? The definition of surrogacy is: The process of giving birth as a surrogate
mother or of arranging for another women to carry and give birth to a baby for you/ a couple
who want to have a child. There is a contract that should be drawn up stating the legal
responsibilities of the surrogate and the specifics as to when the child is born if the surrogate will
have any visitation rights or if they will relinquish all legal parental rights over the child.
Issue
Surrogacy is becoming more popular as time goes by however there are several legal as well as
ethical issues coming up when people use a surrogate or are looking into the topic.
Who might want to hire or use a surrogate?
There are many different reasons as to who and why someone may want to use a surrogate to
carry a child for them. Some of the most common reasons include couples who maybe have had
complications and end up miscarrying, couples who it would be dangerous for the mother to be to
carry a child or go through child birth, and even gay/lesbian couples who want to have children.
How surrogacy works. There are actually two kinds of surrogacy. One is Full surrogacy otherwise
known as host/gestational surrogacy; this involves implantation of an embryo created using the
eggs and sperm of the intended parents to be, a donated egg fertilized with the sperm from the
intended father, and an embryo that is created using a donor s eggs and sperm. Gestational
surrogacy has become the preferred method

Essay about Is Mary Shelley s Frankenstein typical of the...
Is Mary Shelley s Frankenstein typical of the horror genre?
To answer the question above, I firstly need to be clear about the term genre. Genre is a particular
style in art or literature, some examples of genres are: romantic, Romance, science fiction and
Gothic.
Each genre has its own personal features, for example the romance genre deals with love, it
normally has exotic settings and it deals with emotional issues. I am going to try and categorise
the book and then try to decide whether or not it is just a horror story, or if it is more than that. If
it is just a horror story then it will focus on death, darkness, fear and terror. It will also try to shock
the reader and it will use suspense heavily.
With this in mind, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many times during this novel, the creature is said to be a dæmon,
fiend or a vampire , this is very typical of a Gothic novel. This is because in most Gothic novels
there is an emphasis on fear, and a presence of the supernatural. This also makes the monster sound
very frightening and this adds to the horror atmosphere in the novel. As
Victor Frankenstein keeps referring to him as a dæmon he also seems to be evil, this is very
typical of the horror genre, as there is normally an evil being that tries to destroy the rest of the
characters. As he is always referring to the creature in this way it creates a lot of tension in the
book. As he sounds more terrifying, you don t know what he is going to do next, and this creates a
lot of tension also.
Another time where there is tension in the novel, is when Victor
Frankenstein first brings the creature to life. After he does this, he falls asleep and he has a
nightmare, in this dream Elizabeth s
features appeared to change and she turned in to his dead mother.
This seems to be an insight into the future, as Elizabeth will die in the future due to his actions.
This creates a Gothic feeling, as it is supernatural, as his dreams seem to show him the future, and
this is what sometimes happens in a typically Gothic novel. It

Relationship Between Scottie And Stephanie In Veertigo
Alfred Hitchcock s 1958 drama Vertigo explores the mystery and relationship through ex detective
Scottie and elusive Madeleine. Although some see it as a love story hidden within a psychological
thriller, it is also a critique of cinema, gender, and the sexist issues of the time. The dynamics
between Scottie and Midge and Scottie and Madeleine/Judy demonstrate these issues. Hitchcock
uses Scotties character to portray the uncomfortable male centric viewpoint of most films through
plot, mise en scene, and character blocking. From the beginning of the film, the power in the
relationship between Scottie and Midge illustrates Scottie s struggle with masculinity. Midge is an
independent, working, capable woman who broke off her and Scottie s engagement.... Show more

Once Scottie believes he has lost Madeleine, his perfect, elusive woman, he becomes obsessed
with the familiarity he finds in Judy. He expresses no interest in knowing Judy herself, as the
film does not capture any of this. Instead, it captures his insatiable desire to once again discover
Madeleine, the dream woman that will solve his insecurities within his masculinity. This desire is
explained through his literal makeover of Judy, buying her new clothes, having her hair dyed,
having it done a certain way, etc. When trying on suits an employee in the store comments that
Scottie knows exactly what he wants, the disturbing problem in that being that anything less than
his illusion of Madeleine will be unacceptable to him. Another way Scottie consumes Judy is
through positioning in shots. Whereas Midge is seen as above Scottie, often literally as in their
primary scene, Hitchcock uses the kissing scene between Judy and Scottie to show him
progressively becoming literally above and on top of her, crushing and smothering her beneath
him. Furthermore, Judy s character becomes more and more corpse like as the film progresses.
When she is finally transformed into Madeleine, she is depicted in green and foggy light, making
her appear both haunting and ghostly. Even when she is being made over, when her hair is being
died, she looks like a body being prepared for her funeral. The kissing scene mentioned earlier acts
in the same way, her being crushed by him makes her appear lifeless. Whether she is dead or alive,
Hitchcock shows the viewer that it does not matter to Scottie. The deepening of this throughout the
film, culminating in Judy being actually dead and destroyed beneath Scottie from the window,
exposes the overwhelming and unhealthy nature in his seemingly affectionate feelings towards

The Current Status Of The U.s. Economy
Despite the common assertion that all math is inherently difficult, statistics is rooted in simple
mathematical concepts. Descriptive statistics, as depicted by author Charles Wheelan in Naked
Statistics: Stripping the Dread from the Data, is a way to summarize raw data in order to make
immense data sets more manageable and understandable (2013). As Wheelan points out, everything
from presidential elections to baseball games can be summarized using statistics(2013). One of the
most prevalent uses of statistical analysis is to summarize data in order to reflect the health of the
U.S. economy, specifically through gross domestic product (GDP). Wheelan touches on the subject
of how statistics can be used in conjunction with economics; however, there is much more he does
not mention. The health of the U.S. economy is imperative to every American. It dictates whether
it is a good time to splurge on a pricey vacation, invest in a new company, or save for the future.
The only way to truly understand the current status of the U.S. economy is by being able to
interpret statistical analyses accurately, which may be trickier than it appears. Just like any other
topic, it starts with the basics (mean, median, etc.), but Wheelan soon makes it apparent that things
become a bit more complicated when one looks past the fundamentals of statistics (2013).
Interpreting statistical analyses is more than just being able to read charts and graphs. Descriptive
statistics is rooted in simplicity;

The Mistreatment Of The Illegal Immigrants
The mistreatment of the illegal immigrants has become a serious issue among the United States.
There are tons of debates on the issue, which causes a lot of unrest among the citizens of the
country. With the political debates constanly going back and forth, I well reveal the many
insecurities and injustices that many of the immigrants have faced. Many have complained that
because of the illegal immigrants, the competition for jobs have been fierce making it impossible
to obtain a job. However, by analyzing the welfare of the immigrants, we find that many of them
are fighting for minimum wage jobs. The struggle to make two ends meet alone is enough to cause
a breaking point let alone the unfair treatment given to them by the biased masses. Not even the
children are spared from the senseless bickering, Leaving them doomed to suffer the unjust
penalties due to the lack of Immigrationreform. Immigrants have been constantly being demonized
by the usual patriotic propaganda the has spawned from the people. The lack of any positive
reform can t be seen in the future due to congress at a constant power struggle spiraling downward.
Analyzing the Welfare effect of illegal immigration, shows the dynamic overall framework and
shows why it s positive for two reasons. First, immigrants are paid less than their marginal product,
and second, after an increase in immigration, domestic households find it optimal to increase their
holdings of capital. It is also shown that dynamic

Analysis Of The Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World
The original seven wonders of the world list is The Lighthouse at Alexandria, The Great
Pyramid at Giza, The Colossus of Rhodes, The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, The Temple of
Artemis at Ephesus, The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon . (The
Seven Wonders of the Ancient World Silverberg) This list can be both problematic and lacking
because the reading and the website article both show different illustrations on what the seven
wonders look like. This can be problematic because many people may see different images of
them and not get the right idea of what they look like. This can also be lacking because, the
information may not be gathered correctly and give false information on what they look like. Both
sources the reading The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World

the online source the list comes from themata Greek things to be seen and were

Asylums In 1800s
The treatment of mental illness has gone through many reforms over the years. Stemming from
some of the earliest documented cases of treatment such as trephination in 5000 B.C. to the opening
of mental asylums starting in the late 1300s to the development of the modern healthcare system.
Through the 1800s until now, major developments in mental health treatment include the evolution
of the mental asylum, widespread psychopharmacology, and psychotherapy treatments. Primarily
focusing on the treatment methods of the past two hundred or so years, the United States of
America has made leaps and bounds to provide humane treatment to aid those in need. The most
famous mental asylum, which is now known as a psychiatric or mental hospital, would most likely
be the Bethlem Royal Hospital in England. Opening its doors to mentally ill patients back in the
late 1300s, it s famous for its... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conditions of psychiatric hospitals were poorly maintained yet again. From the late 1800s until
the mid 1900s, the conditions of these institutions were hit or miss. Despite the rising population of
those in need of mental health treatment, conditions were deteriorating across the board. This
pushed in the deinstitutionalization movement (Nevid, Rathus, Green, 2014). This was a push to
remove patients from state run hospitals into a more community based treatment center. In most
cases today, there are treatment plans in place depending upon the severity of the disorder an
individual may be suffering from. It s more about treating an individual with any variety of modern
techniques or therapies and trying to reintegrate them into society rather than a lifelong stay in an
institution. Deinstitutionalization didn t work the way it was intended. After it was put into place

Famine, Affluence, and Morality
Peter Singer
Jimmy carter once said, We know that a peaceful world cannot long exist, one third rich and two
thirds hungry. With the world now more interconnected than ever there might be a solution to world
hunger by distribution of wealth. Peter Singer, in his article titled, Famine, Affluence, and Morality,
takes this concept of unity that we have on a global scale and tries to tackle the issue of world
hunger. Before we dive into the article we will focus on utilitarianism to help us understand his
perspective better. Following, we will analyze Singer and his theory, by strongly arguing that
famine should be given moral worth. A stance is made that if you are aware of suffering that is
going on elsewhere than it is your responsibility to do something about it. He points out that it
doesn t matter if anyone else is helping nor does it matter the distance. Singer does make some
good points, however, these do not come without objections. Let s start by gaining an understanding
of what utilitarianism means. The definition given to us earlier in our textbook, Exploring Ethics,
in the article, Strengths and Weaknesses of Utilitarianism, it defines act utilities as an act that, is
right if and only if it results in as much good as any available alternative . This goes back to the
tedious task of trying to analyze countless number of alternatives and figure out which one brings

Despotism
The presidential system of government was created by the English immigrants who came to the
East Coast of the United States to escape the excesses of the crown. When declared independence
and wrote its constitution, the objective was to avoid despotism both legislative and executive
absolutism. The first presidential system there is found in the American constitution of 1787. This
fundamental law set up a new type of relations between the executive and legislative branches,
which resulted in a presidential regime and for this reason, it was felt that the Constitution
American presidential system structures the classic, pure or par excellence.

The Theory Of The Existence Of A God
Theodicy of God
Men always wonder about their own existence. They ask questions that hinted an existence of a
God. Like the common questions that was probably asked by all men; who created me? , what
am I? , who am I? These questions lead to the topics on how Plato and Aristotle came up with
their different theories that supports the idea of the existence of a God. The problem here is that
we cannot know the existence of a God if there really is a God by just thinking by ourselves
because we may have the mind to think but we may also not have the capacity to think like Plato
and Aristotle from which they are the main philosophers that the Medieval philosophers like Saint
Bonaventure based their work not just by simply agreeing on the works of Aristotle or Plato but by
commenting on their works and continuing or extending what their works are. The theory of forms
by Plato indicates that there is a Primary Being that can be perceive through the use of the mind
wherein reason is the main instrument being used in order to see what you cannot perceive using
your external senses. The external sense cognition by Aristotle from which uses the five senses of
a human person which are the sight, touch, smell, hearing, and taste. The world that we perceive
by the use of our external senses make us believe that there is a God that created all that we see,
smell, touch, hear, and taste. I propose to assimilate Saint Bonaventura in my paper because of my

  • 11. Tuck Everlasting Point Of View Time moves forward, and only forward. It s a circle we are born, raised, we live, then we die. But have you ever imagined what would happen if you were endowed with immortality? What if you could not die no matter how many decades had passed, while the world around you keeps changing and everyone else keeps aging? Would it be wonderful to live forever like that? Then you should take a look at Tuck Everlasting, a novel written by Natalie Babbittin 1975 which focuses on the negative side of immortality. The narrative point of view used in the novel is the third person omniscient, like most of the stories we were told as children. Our narrator, the author, knows everything. She can zoom in and out on all the characters, jump from place to place, and even read the thoughts of the main characters. The Prologue tells us all: At dawn, Mae Tuck set out on her horse... At noontime, Winnie Foster, whose family owned the Treegap wood,... And at sunset a stranger appeared at the Fosters gate. There is no connection among them. • 14. The Naegleria Fowleri Amoeba Introduction The Naegleria fowleri amoeba resides in lakes, rivers, thermal springs, dirty swimming pool and sometimes soil. The amoebas thrive during the summer months due to the increase of temperature(Shakoor, Beg, and Mahmood 258). Naegleria amoeba infects and targets brain tissue of the central nervous system and the neuromuscular system. The central nervous system is responsible for integrating and responding to neural signals. The nervous system and muscles in the body work together to permit movement called the neuromuscular system. The brain is the main control for integrating sensory neurons and coordinating body functions: voluntary and involuntary. When needed to move a body part, a message is sent to the afferent sensory neurons, which go through the brain and into the spinal cord where the efferent motor neurons send an electrical signal to trigger the muscle to contract. Errors such as sliding of the actin and myosin filaments or failure to release neurotransmitters from the neuron can happen. The infection causes primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM) (Shakoor, Beg, and Mahmood 258).. It cannot be contracted by person to person, or by drinking contaminated water. The amoeba enters the body via nose by infected water and/or dust and penetrates the cribriform plate(Shenoy, Wilson, and Prashanth [Page 309]). It travels to the brain by the nerves that transmit olfactory senses and causes PAM. It causes brain tissue damage and inflammation of the brain. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In loanable funds market which borrowers (my firm) demand funds and lenders supply them. The price in this market is interest rate. Scenario a The growth rate of GDP in the U.S is expected to increase Since there is an expectation on the U.S GDP to increase, this means the increasing labor force in the market that indirectly increases the consumption and investments. May be the government s spending potential is also increasing. These factors would create more demands in the loanable funds market. So the demand and supply in the loanable funds market determines the interest rates. The following exhibit 1a shows when demand is weak (D1) and the real interest rate low ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Real interest rate = Nominal Interest Rate Inflationary premium Exhibit 1b illustrates how inflation influences nominal interest rates. We consider a 3% market interest rate as a stable price. Assume the expected rate of inflation is zero, there will be no inflationary premium; under these conditions the nominal interest rate is equal to the real interest rate. Now there is an expectation of inflation goes higher, forecasted 2% inflation, so the real interest rate now becomes to 1% (based on the real interest rate formula). This case I am better off my firm s future financing cost if I use the credit line. Usually it is not going to work that way. When lenders expect inflation, they will be pushing the interest rate upward by the expected inflation. This case the nominal interest rate is going to be 5% and the real interest rate would become 3%. Lenders may not always forecast the future rate of inflation accurately. If the inflation is higher than was expected then my firm will gain. On the other hand if the inflation rate is less than anticipated then lenders will gain. Therefore, no reason why the inflation will help either my firm or lenders. • 17. Analysis Of The Lament Of The Old Woman Of Beare The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare , an Early Irish poem, is from the point of view of an old woman who has begun to reflect on her life. The Wanderer , is spoken by a bard who has been sent into exile after the death of his Lord. While in exile he begins to review his life, miss everything he has lost and look at life on a more spiritual level. Both speakers are experiencing what it feels like to be lonely because the people that were once there for them have either left or they have passed away. With a melancholic and nostalgic tone, both poems express the idea that people, youth, and the material world are all transient. However, both poems acknowledge that although the pleasures and good things in life are fleeting, the solutions to the problem is God. The speaker in The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare is feeling nostalgic, as she remembers what the world was like during her younger years. The speaker says, I ve had my time with kings, / drinking mead and wine;/ now I drink watery whey/ with wizened old women (90 93). Here she is comparing the way she once lived to how she lives now. This example shows how she has aged because she is no longer drinking wine with young kings and having fun. Instead, she is drinking whey, a less flattering drink, with old women. While in exile, speaker of The Wanderer also chooses to focus on the joys that no longer exist. He has lost his family, his lord, and his home, and has no choice but to go into exile. The Wandererquestions what happened to the comforts that he used to enjoy, Where are the seats of the feast? where are the joys of the hall? (93). The Wanderer searches for a mead hall only to find that they are all toppled like his own, and this leads him to realize that nothing lasts forever. The decay of life joys arises in both poems. In The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare , it is youth and the people around her, and in The Wanderer it is friendships, family, his lord, and the comforts of his home. The Wanderer describes that earthly things will not last forever and will eventually go to waste: The wise man must realize how ghastly it will be when all the wealth of the world stands waste, as now here and there throughout this ... • 19. The Best Key Performance Indicators For The Godiva Monitor... In my opinion, the five best key performance indicators for the Godiva to monitor and measure on their ecommerce website are: number of unique visitors, bounce rate, conversion rate, average order value, and repeat customer rate. Unique visitors counts are important in determining between new versus returning site user traffic. This data is helpful for counting hits to the landing page, and beneficial in counting hits to other pages within the site as well. High traffic, and high returning traffic numbers are indicative of a healthy on line business. The more frequently a user visits the site, the more opportunity that they have to make a purchase. George Blitzer of Kommerzen.com indicates that more than one third of traffic should represent repeat visitors. He also notes that rewarding these visitors with a loyalty program is a great incentive to keep them coming back. The bounce rate will provide Godiva with the number of times a site visitor leaves their website right away. The bounce rate is calculated by the number of website page visitors that do not engage with the page (do not click on links, or interact with the page) before abandoning the page, divided by the total number of visits to the page within a given time frame. When the bounce rate rises, Godiva knows that either the site user entered the page by accident, or the site user was not interested in what they saw. A rise in bounce rate may potentially be caused by a redesign of a website page, unappealing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Student Athletes For The University Of Ohio Secondly, for student athletes who practice a sport and attend classes, it is often difficult to complete both tasks. Many students begin to show less motivation making it harder to stay focus and attend their required classes. This is the case of student athlete Cardale Jones, a quarterback for the Universityof Ohio. After taking his sociology final exam, he commented that coming to class was pointless when his only responsibility was to play football for the university (Tracy 1). Student athletes start to show poor academic achievement when they consume a lot of time in their sports and often forget about their role of being a student. For instance, when students are not able to complete their school assignments during the day they decide to study late and do not sleep the necessary hours they need in order for their bodies to function and their brains to focus. In this case, the poor achievement in students is notable because they do not perform well in school and do not have a good nutrition. They often do not have time to eat the required three meals a day that their bodies need. The poor academic achievement is often noticeable when many coaches begin to tell their athletes that they are not allowed to take classes that interfere with practice. This puts athletes in a barrier when they have to balance the two roles of responsibility of attending class and completing homework assignments and attending the games. After her father, King George VI, was crowned, Elizabeth became the natural successor to the throne. With this face, a sense of responsibility arose within her, making her more active towards the matters of national interest. Some of these individual dreams inevitably become the collective dream of many people. It draws a clear parallel between people s emotions and the images of the sore. Just as an untreated sore will not heal, but get more infected, a deferred dream will not go away, but become more intense. A wound that gets worse will eventually start to smell bad. Hughes compares this to rotten meat. Does it stink like rotten meat? This image creates the idea that unrealized dreams will bring out the worst in men. It also means that for some the realization of their dreams will become less attractive. Next he uses the symbol of sugar, or sweetness. This creates the false image that all is well, almost as if this is the way it is meant to be. However, our minds still stick to the festering sore that is under the Sweet crust. It is imperative that the career I pursue satisfies both my internal and external needs. I do not want to settle for anything other than a job that I love. During my junior year in high school, I created a fashioninspired blog. Since I enjoyed watching celebrities on the red carpet, and segments discussing trends and personal styles, I wanted a different platform where I can write and discuss my own views. I curated a fashion inspired blog on Tumblr where I wrote pieces of what I thought was stylish and trendy. Having a blog combined two of my greatest interests: fashion and writing. One case of this is shown in Albert Camus s The Stranger where Meursault, the narrator of the book, dies. When approaching his execution he understands that no one person has significant worth. That shows a philosophical view/theme that no other book has shown as clearly before it. Throughout the book you can sense the buildup to Camus central message. This came to a point when Meursault is killed. He seemed indifferent to any situation he was in, even after learning his neighbor was beating his mistress. Camus argues that there is only one thing certain in life and that is death. Meursault doesn t fully understand this until right before he is about to be guillotined. He realizes that he has no meaning and is not special. He will be born then die just like everyone else. As you uncover his peculiarities, you may be confused on why the writer would make him this way but it is all cleared up when he is killed. Meursault is being executed for a crime he did for no reason, however; he seems unworried by his situation even after a sad conversation with Marie in the prison cell. Before he is killed he gives a very important quote that shows the philosophy the books wants to portray, for everything to be consummated, for me to feel less alone, I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and that they greet me with cries of hate . This quote shows above all else that humans are ultimately responsible for their acts whether good or bad. Death plays many roles in books it is often used to develop major themes. • 35. Death by Landscape and the Canadian Identity Essay Death by Landscape Death by Landscape shows subtle, but nonetheless significant, qualities regarding Canadian culture. The author (Margaret Atwood) uses Canadian landscape, Native culture, and character attributes to symbolize the Canadian identity. The struggle between Native Canadians and European Canadians to define what makes somebody Canadian is a major theme in this story. The historically inaccurate depiction of Native practices, as well as the less than flattering depiction of Native people, is an all too real issue which is alluded to in this story. Another major reference to Canadian identity is the depiction of the differences between Americans and Canadians. The characters, Lucy and Lois, symbolize Americans and Canadians.... Positive so that they can have something to conform to. A truly Canadian ceremony that they feel their ancestors may have lacked. The use of exaggerated Native practices enriches the story, because it triggers a feeling of distaste with Lois as well as the reader. However, they also bring up an unspoken conflict within the Canadian identity between Native and European culture. The use of these practices demonstrates the need for European Canadians to both mock and Emulate Native practices. A major focus of this story is the Canadian landscape, and how it affects its residents. It is an accurate demonstration of how nature affects the Canadian identity. The Canadian wilderness becomes a part of Lois through the tragedy that has occurred. Although she realizes it late, the landscape of the wild has become a part of her personal identity. As she ages, Lois slowly becomes more aware of her obsession with the Canadian wilderness. To answer the question above, I firstly need to be clear about the term genre. Genre is a particular style in art or literature, some examples of genres are: romantic, Romance, science fiction and Gothic. Each genre has its own personal features, for example the romance genre deals with love, it normally has exotic settings and it deals with emotional issues. I am going to try and categorise the book and then try to decide whether or not it is just a horror story, or if it is more than that. If it is just a horror story then it will focus on death, darkness, fear and terror. It will also try to shock the reader and it will use suspense heavily. With this in mind, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many times during this novel, the creature is said to be a dГ¦mon, fiend or a vampire , this is very typical of a Gothic novel. This is because in most Gothic novels there is an emphasis on fear, and a presence of the supernatural. This also makes the monster sound very frightening and this adds to the horror atmosphere in the novel. As Victor Frankenstein keeps referring to him as a dГ¦mon he also seems to be evil, this is very typical of the horror genre, as there is normally an evil being that tries to destroy the rest of the characters. As he is always referring to the creature in this way it creates a lot of tension in the book. As he sounds more terrifying, you don t know what he is going to do next, and this creates a lot of tension also. Another time where there is tension in the novel, is when Victor Frankenstein first brings the creature to life. After he does this, he falls asleep and he has a nightmare, in this dream Elizabeth s features appeared to change and she turned in to his dead mother. This seems to be an insight into the future, as Elizabeth will die in the future due to his actions. • 42. Relationship Between Scottie And Stephanie In Veertigo Alfred Hitchcock s 1958 drama Vertigo explores the mystery and relationship through ex detective Scottie and elusive Madeleine. Although some see it as a love story hidden within a psychological thriller, it is also a critique of cinema, gender, and the sexist issues of the time. The dynamics between Scottie and Midge and Scottie and Madeleine/Judy demonstrate these issues. Hitchcock uses Scotties character to portray the uncomfortable male centric viewpoint of most films through plot, mise en scene, and character blocking. From the beginning of the film, the power in the relationship between Scottie and Midge illustrates Scottie s struggle with masculinity. Midge is an independent, working, capable woman who broke off her and Scottie s engagement.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once Scottie believes he has lost Madeleine, his perfect, elusive woman, he becomes obsessed with the familiarity he finds in Judy. He expresses no interest in knowing Judy herself, as the film does not capture any of this. Instead, it captures his insatiable desire to once again discover Madeleine, the dream woman that will solve his insecurities within his masculinity. This desire is explained through his literal makeover of Judy, buying her new clothes, having her hair dyed, having it done a certain way, etc. When trying on suits an employee in the store comments that Scottie knows exactly what he wants, the disturbing problem in that being that anything less than his illusion of Madeleine will be unacceptable to him. Another way Scottie consumes Judy is through positioning in shots. Whereas Midge is seen as above Scottie, often literally as in their primary scene, Hitchcock uses the kissing scene between Judy and Scottie to show him progressively becoming literally above and on top of her, crushing and smothering her beneath him. Furthermore, Judy s character becomes more and more corpse like as the film progresses. When she is finally transformed into Madeleine, she is depicted in green and foggy light, making her appear both haunting and ghostly. Even when she is being made over, when her hair is being died, she looks like a body being prepared for her funeral. The kissing scene mentioned earlier acts in the same way, her being crushed by him makes her appear lifeless. Whether she is dead or alive, Hitchcock shows the viewer that it does not matter to Scottie. As Wheelan points out, everything from presidential elections to baseball games can be summarized using statistics(2013). One of the most prevalent uses of statistical analysis is to summarize data in order to reflect the health of the U.S. economy, specifically through gross domestic product (GDP). Wheelan touches on the subject of how statistics can be used in conjunction with economics; however, there is much more he does not mention. The health of the U.S. economy is imperative to every American. It dictates whether it is a good time to splurge on a pricey vacation, invest in a new company, or save for the future. The only way to truly understand the current status of the U.S. economy is by being able to interpret statistical analyses accurately, which may be trickier than it appears. Just like any other topic, it starts with the basics (mean, median, etc.), but Wheelan soon makes it apparent that things become a bit more complicated when one looks past the fundamentals of statistics (2013). Through the 1800s until now, major developments in mental health treatment include the evolution of the mental asylum, widespread psychopharmacology, and psychotherapy treatments. The conditions of psychiatric hospitals were poorly maintained yet again. From the late 1800s until the mid 1900s, the conditions of these institutions were hit or miss. Despite the rising population of those in need of mental health treatment, conditions were deteriorating across the board. This pushed in the deinstitutionalization movement (Nevid, Rathus, Green, 2014). This was a push to remove patients from state run hospitals into a more community based treatment center. In most cases today, there are treatment plans in place depending upon the severity of the disorder an individual may be suffering from. It s more about treating an individual with any variety of modern techniques or therapies and trying to reintegrate them into society rather than a lifelong stay in an institution. Deinstitutionalization didn t work the way it was intended. After it was put into place there was a rise in the homeless population and different programs that were supposed to be put into place didn t live up to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the world now more interconnected than ever there might be a solution to world hunger by distribution of wealth. Peter Singer, in his article titled, Famine, Affluence, and Morality, takes this concept of unity that we have on a global scale and tries to tackle the issue of world hunger. Before we dive into the article we will focus on utilitarianism to help us understand his perspective better. Following, we will analyze Singer and his theory, by strongly arguing that famine should be given moral worth. A stance is made that if you are aware of suffering that is going on elsewhere than it is your responsibility to do something about it. He points out that it doesn t matter if anyone else is helping nor does it matter the distance. Singer does make some good points, however, these do not come without objections. Let s start by gaining an understanding of what utilitarianism means. The definition given to us earlier in our textbook, Exploring Ethics, in the article, Strengths and Weaknesses of Utilitarianism, it defines act utilities as an act that, is right if and only if it results in as much good as any available alternative . This goes back to the tedious task of trying to analyze countless number of alternatives and figure out which one brings about the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Like the common questions that was probably asked by all men; who created me? , what am I? , who am I? These questions lead to the topics on how Plato and Aristotle came up with their different theories that supports the idea of the existence of a God. The problem here is that we cannot know the existence of a God if there really is a God by just thinking by ourselves because we may have the mind to think but we may also not have the capacity to think like Plato and Aristotle from which they are the main philosophers that the Medieval philosophers like Saint Bonaventure based their work not just by simply agreeing on the works of Aristotle or Plato but by commenting on their works and continuing or extending what their works are.
