The Quality Of Education For Tanzanians Children
In general, what is at stake is not the description of the population numbers, but concerns about the
quality of education for Tanzanians children. Honestly, the growing number of children in Tanzania as
(Woods, 2009) alerts, is a clarion call for the country, not only to invest in education, but also
excessively in other public services. Comparable to other poor countries as Jeffrey Sachs and Easterly
(2006) highlighted, the poor people live entangled in inadequacy, in which taking to account the
global abuse of children, poor wellbeing, learning, and poor arrangement reinforce one another (p. 10
). It is incontestable that children are the eyes of the future of any nation, consequently financing
beyond their education quality would be the ultimate investment for their development. This is to say,
parents, teachers, and communities need to ensure the safety of children and monitor what they learn
in classrooms, while paying a distinctive attention to the marginalized children likely to be victims of
quality education and exclusion.
The History and Education in Tanzania Tanganyika, now the United Republic of Tanzania, came to
existence after the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar in 1964 (World Data on Education, 2010).
Historically, the merger took place after colonial liberation of Tanganyika in 1961, and Zanzibar in
1963 all from Britain.
Before the arrival of colonial powers in Tanzania, education was informal. According to Omolewa
(2007) informal education is a

Language Techniques In The Turning By Tim Winton
The award winning Australian author, Tim Winton s recent collection of seventeen short stories The
Turning provides a perceptive and pleasurable reading experience, compressed within one novel.
These overlapping and linking stories explore the extraordinary turning points in ordinary people s
lives as stunning portraits of a small coastal community. Winton utilises varieties of language and
formal techniques such as, theme, character and setting, to effectively engage and discover the central
characters of The Turning . Winton s use of different language techniques, and distinctive texts,

were Aboriginals who didn t need to keep up with complicated situations, but were always angry, dark
and loud. This chapter involves information about a character who was a child, who passed a remote
lagoon and swampland everyday on his way to school, and eventually gained the courage to explore
within the depth of the location. At attempting to unlock this secret passage, it included many secrets
and mysteries that needed to be discovered. By reading Aquifer , this brought the characters to a place
that they felt immediately in connection with, this included memories that were buried in their past
that they have shaped and now believe that they are today. Winton s exploration of the way that the

Erikson s Eight Stages Of Development Case Study
The early stages of any person s life are the most crucial for cognitive, physical, social, and emotional
development. The first few years for a toddler are even more important because their growth is
significantly more rapid during this time period. I observed the growth of a 20 month old boy who I
will refer to as Theo. My observations occurred at Theo s Aunt s house with his Aunt, Mother and
Grandmother present. His usual environment is at his grandparent s house under the primary care of
his mother. The first category that I observed Theo on was his level of physical development. I used a
few different resource charts to determine whether or not Theo is developing properly in all aspects
physically compared to the rest of his age group. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I observed a lot of autonomy in Theo, he was able to move around without any help, he was even able
to maneuver up and down stairs without assistance. He turns pages of his books by himself, feeds
himself, and tries to copy what the adults around him do especially if they are doing cleaning
activities. He tries his best to do all of these tasks alone, until he becomes frustrated enough to ask for
help. He also learns the cause and effect of his behavior fairly well, it would take him a few tries to
remember an action he did before, but one he recognized the result he could do it confidently. One
specific example that I recall, we were all outside and he was gathering leaves that had fallen in the
yard. He saw that I was sitting on the stairs watching him and he came over with the pile of leaves and
gave them too me. I said thank you , this continued at least five or six time and on the last time he put
the leaves in my hand but I delayed saying thank you and he stopped and looked at me waiting for me
to say thank you and once I did he went back into the yard and continued playing. I found this
interesting because he seemed proud of his actions when I told him thank you and the one time I
hesitated, he picked up on it and waited for the result he had consistently been getting from his action.
I also experienced him show signs of guilt when he got in trouble for doing something. At one point
he hit his grandmother and got scolded for it, he immediately began crying, having full awareness he
had done something wrong. His mother said to please not do that again because it hurts people and she
said I love you. Will you please go tell Nana that you are sorry? . He shook his head yes and went over
and apologized and suddenly became happy again and moved on from

The Foundations Of Culture Of India
Foundations of Culture
1. Describe the traditional way of indoor cooking in rural and semi ¬urban areas of India, including
the type(s) of fuel used for cooking. What types of foods are usually prepared?
As many parts of India are yet not develop, the people in India still cook over an open fire inside their
homes. Their stoves are composed of clay, but many steel use a three stone fire triangle elevated to a
point where it is able to support a pot. Many Indian people still do not have natural gas running
through their house like in the United State, so their alternatives to natural gas are wood, animal dung,
agricultural waste, and charcoal. The Indian people are among some of the countries that uses animal
dung while cooking, they believe that the animal dung purifies their ovens when it is burn. When
cooking Indian people tend to use a lot of pieces when preparing their dishes, some of the dishes that
are usually prepared depend of the region and religion. To the north of India they tend to eat a lot of
flat bread the south tends to eat a lot of rice. Coastal areas tend to eat more fish, and chicken and sheep
tend to be eaten more in the Mountain regions.
2. What risks does traditional indoor cooking pose to users? What effects have already been
documented?
There is a large number of risks that traditional indoor cooking poses, and most of the people that it
affects are women and children. Some of the risk that it poses are respiratory risk this is because while

Essay On Grendel In Beowulf
Grendel, the offspring of Cain the outcast, is a demon. He is a scaly creature that lives in a swampy
area. He is a reptilian human, with spikes on him. He is a human like figure, in which the way he
stands. He stands on two feet, and has arms. In the book Beowulf removes Grendel s arm and
shoulder, defeating him. This must mean he has a shoulder blade and can walk like a human. He also
has razor sharp talons as it says in the book Venturing closer, his talon was raised to attack Beowulf
where he lay on the bed (Heaney 51). One night when he is prowling around, he hears the King and
his kinsmen singing out to the Lord. He hears the songs of how great God is, and is outraged. As the
outcast of God, Grendel despised of God. The songs and happiness, pushes him over the edge. He
plans the downfall of the hall, in spite of their songs. He will attack at night, as everyone sleeps, and
butcher them dead. He sneaks in at night, watching over the guards, ready to pounce. He rips apart the
men eating them alive. Suddenly then the God cursed brute was creating havoc: greedy and grim, he
grabbed thirty men from their resting place and rushed them to his lair (Heaney 11). This shows just
how When the king awoke the next morning he grieved for his men, but little did he know Grendel
would attack every night for 12 winters. Once again Grendel sets of for a night of ravishing, but the
king has a plan. He has set out more guards to keep watch over the kingdom, as he sleeps. When

The Chronic and Incurale Disease of Alzheimers Essay
What is Alzheimer s? It is a disease that affects the central nervous system, digestive system, the
neuromuscular system and is generally a disease that is chronic and incurable. 4.7 million people
greater than the age of 65 live with the disease each and every day, which is approximately one tenth
of the population for those over the age of 65. The most common questions are: what are the risk
factors, which vary from person to person, whether or not there are signs and symptoms and has there
been any testing and diagnosis on this disease. Well the first question usually asked by a vast majority
of those in the age range for such a disease is am I at risk for Alzheimer s. First you need to know the

There are so many signs and symptoms that correlate to the Alzheimer s disease, which include but are
not limited to: having a worsened ability to take in and remember new information, impairments to
reasoning and changes in personal behavior. Usually those who have Alzheimer s will have a hard
time taking in and remembering new information, meaning they will ask repetitive questions or start
conversations that were previously mentioned. A lot of times they will also misplace their personal
belongings and may even forget important appointments or their grand children s baseball game.
When you have the Alzheimer s disease you may also find out that you get lost very easily on a
commonly traveled route. Finally the question everybody wants an answer to, are there tests that can
be done to find out if I have Alzheimer s and if I do have it is there a diagnosis of this disease? Before
go too far it should be known that there is not a single test for this disease and finding out if you have
it can be a very strenuous procedure. A doctor can do any number of things from taking down the
history of your family to arranging for brain scans to be done. The things that are most commonly
done however are: taking down family history, doing a physical examination and even doing cognitive
testing. Even in recent studies is has been found that using peanut butter can help diagnose the
Alzheimer s disease. The

Why did moral reform movements gather strength in the...
In the mid to late 1800s, a great moral reform movement swept the nation of America. Men, Women,
Slaves, people who had never been admitted to influence the religious sector of the Nation were now
standing up, and making their voices heard. A patriots History says, There were transformations of
attitudes about social relationships, health, prisons, education, and the status of women and African
American slaves.... [This] grew into a substantial Jacksonian reform movement. This moral reform
movement was driven by three main beliefs, or Isms. These were Communal ism, Feminism, and
Abolitionism, all leading us up directly to the Civil War Without the dissent caused by these new

This rejection of traditionally held values in regard to women, led to the very next Ism, Feminism.
Feminism was a Utopians dream because it advocated greatly expanded roles for women. By the time
of the precedent setting New York State court case Mercein v. People in 1842, women had gained
many other rights. In Mercein vs. People a woman was awarded custody of children for the first time
in history. Up till this point women had gained property rights within marriage in several Ohio and
Mississippi Valley states, and the trend was spreading, fast, and divorce became slightly more
prevalent, with the legal grounds increased. With the growth of the Industrial Revolution, women were
given work opportunities, and with a rising demand for teachers more and more women were
becoming educated in institutions. Nursing jobs also became popular. In1849, Elizabeth Blackwell
received her M.D. degree from the Medical Institution of Geneva, N.Y., becoming the first woman in
the U.S. with a medical degree. All these causes lead women, inevitably, towards feminism, a socio
religious and socio political philosophy born at the end of the Age of Jackson. Feminism was affecting
moral reform, and was right there at the heart. These women activists pushed and shoved till they got
their way. The final force was the Declaration of Sentiments at Seneca Falls, New York on 1848.

The Effects Of Video On Our Lives
In the video How to Live to be One Hundred Plus the main goal is trying to find the optimal lifestyle
of longevity and come up with a formula for longevity. Dan Buettner starts talking about three blue
zones: Sardinia, Okinawa, and Loma Linda, CA. The first blue zone is in Sardinia, only up in the
highlands with an area called the Nuoro province. This part of Sardinia has an oldest male society,
where 102 year olds ride bikes to work and chop wood. Since the land is so infertile, people in this
area are mostly shepherds, which means their exercise is regular low intensity physical activity. Their
diet is mostly plant based and consists of unleavened whole wheat bread called carta musica, cheese
made from grass fed animals high in omega 3 fatty acids, and Cannonau, a wine with three times the
level of polyphenols. In this society, age and knowledge is thought of very highly, and is celebrated
through a centenarian of the month calendar. Keeping family around is also a big part of the culture
and can add an extra 6 years of life expectancy, which is also known as the grandmother effect.
The second blue zone is Okinawa, which is made up of 161 small islands and is 800 miles south of
Tokyo. The northern part of the main island of Okinawa is ground zero for world longevity and has
the oldest female population. This society has the longest disability free life expectancy in the world.

Much Ado About Nothing Benedick Essay
In my oral final, I will be exploring who the character Benedick is, from the comedic play Much Ado
About Nothing by William Shakespeare. I will speak a little about his identity at the beginning of the
comedy, then who he is compared to metaphorically, and finally about the development of his
character throughout the play.
Initially, Benedick appears as a character meant entirely for comic relief, acting as if the most crucial
part of his personality is his wit and humor. However, by the end of the play he is noticed as someone
who can think clearly and make important decisions.
The biggest change in Benedick s character is risen from his relationship with Beatrice. And we can
see this throughout the story as they are unable to converse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At the beginning of the play, Benedick is portrayed as a character that strongly despised the idea of
marriage and love, although these feelings slowly start to change as the comedy progresses. In the
play, Benedick states that I never did think to marry (Act 2 Scene iii) even though he later declares I
did not think I should live till I were married (Act 2 Scene iii). Through these quotes it is clearly
shown that Benedick is self contradictory, which marks a critical turning point for the development in
Benedick s character as his earlier opinions of marriage,

This battle would be the first allied offensive on the Empire of Japan. On 7 August 1942 American

the objective of denying their use by the Japanese to threaten the supply and communication routes

Donald Trump Pros And Cons
In today s society, we humans live in a world replete with disagreements and ignorance. A world
where not everyone agrees with the choices other s make. It is also a place where some have their
opinions and beliefs with life choices, while others may have different beliefs and opinions than. A
prime example of this is Donald Trump s immigration ban. To many, this policy is believed to be
based on religion and race while others believe he has a legitimist reason, but in reality it is not.
Donald Trump s immigration ban was placed into effect to help regulate the safety of U.S citizens and
control the use of U.S money.

In Trumps policy he states A nation that does not serve its own citizens is not a nation. Any
immigration plan must improve jobs, wages and security for all Americans. As a U.S citizen I strongly
believe that our government should take care of its own people before they help all of the other
countries. Since September 11, the United States has faced multiple attacks on the country due to
terrorism from other countries. A few of these attacks include the Boston Marathon bombing, Anthrax
attacks, Beltway sniper attacks, and there are many more. No one saw these attacks coming until it
happened. Every terrorist attack the United States has encounter has left 100 s of people dead and/or
injured. These attacks have forced Trump to make a decision on what countries to ban and for what
reason. Three of these countries, Iran, Sudan, and Syria all sponsor terrisom towards other countries.
The other four countries are considered terrorist safe havens, which means that country will stand up
for them and protect them at any cost. Trump s plan to ban immigrants allows the U.S to keep terrorist
out while at the same time allows for us to weed the ones that are already within the country out.

Tanning Tax
Tanning beds have helped people for years to catch the natural glowing look that normally would be

the United States? Congress tells people that the tax is to help pay for the treatment that an individual
must have because of the harm ultraviolent rays have on a person s skin. (New York Times) I just

The tanning tax will definitely impact the tanning industry. Many tanning solons and small tanning
businesses are already feeling the tug at their wallets from the recession and now this. The consumer
of the tanning industry is just the average person next door and we all have a neighbor that we know
who is suffering financially. When push comes to shove one will likely choose a necessity over a
luxury. I just wonder is congress trying to put the country s people in a panic. July 1, 2010 the tanning
tax went into effect; a ten percent tax on all indoor tanning using ultraviolent radiation was passed.
This tax is supposed to help those that need help with skin cancer treatment. By congress taxing the
tanning industry, for this reason leads me to ask what is next. Is congress going to pass a tax for going
to the beach? This tax seems like only the beginning of what is to come.

had ample opportunity to view online it was not until the final upcoming days that deals were made

An Opinion Article On My Facebook Profile
With the recent Paris attacks, people have been showing solidarity by changing their Facebook
profiles with the Paris Flag superimposed onto their main profile picture. When I heard of the attacks,
as the rest of us did, over breaking news, I felt a range of emotions from anger to helplessness. There
was nothing I could do at that moment to help those who were victimized senselessly by the hands of
radical jihadist. Changing my Facebook profile was my small way of showing support for the people

The danger of these thugs disrupting our way of life is too great to marginalize into a self serving
Facebook profile picture. He states the new cycle of response to terrorist is this: Grieve loudly, adopt a
symbol, justify suspicions of anyone different from ourselves and eventually go back to our relatively
carefree and careless lives (Mulvaney 2015). To justify, or draw parallels to his point of view,
Mulvany points to the September 11th attacks of 2001 as an example of how we rallied behind the
FDNY, NYPD, and hardhats, yet 14 years later, there may not be enough political will to even pass the
Zardoga act to extend health care benefits for people injured saving others that day (Mulvaney 2015).
He points out that after a few more news cycles, the show of our French Flag solidarity will fade from
Facebook and Paris will drop the headlines. (Mulvaney 2015). However, terrorism will not go away or
be deterred by symbols of solidarity.
In his conclusion, Mulvaney feels American leadership should turn the requirements against the war
on terror from symbols to tangible action . He writes that an American with a French Facebook flag
demeans the war on terror and is as effective as a smiley face (Mulvaney 2015).

attacks. However, I disagree with his opinion piece because I feel he is pointing the

insurmountable complications. Rather, they seemed likely to lead to a tragic ending. However, through
the power of love and what seems to be a magical force, everything is resolved and the couples whisk

Marie sees love in a unique way, and I believe her philosophy when it comes to love is that love can
endure all and that some magical force will guide you to a happily ever after. Though, I believe this to
not be true since not all love stories have a happy conclusion, and the way a person handles obstacles
cannot be solved with magic. Her stories seem to demonstrate love in an unlikely and unrealistic
manner. For example, in Guigemar , Guigemar is under a curse where it essential that he finds a lady
who will suffer for him, and where he will suffer for her in order to lift the curse. Guigemar falls in
love with a lady who falls in love with him while she is nursing him back to health after noticing his
wound. Nevertheless, she is married to another man, who is the King. The husband of the lady makes
this discovery and wishes to have Guigemar murdered. The King ships Guigemar off to his homeland
and locks his wife up in a tower to suffer. However, suddenly and unexpectedly, by some force of
magic she is able to leave the tower and go on a quest to find Guigemar. She eventually finds him.
Though, Guigemar still must fight Meriaduc, the man who found the lady searching

Roosevelt And Wilson Compare And Contrast
asing off of Roosevelt and Wilson s different points of view, it seems as they are in disagreement. This
conflict did change the U.S. a lot, but at different times. When Roosevelt was in office, his Corollary
went into role. Then, when Wilson took his place, his annual message affected the nation greatly.
These opposing views caused problems not only in the United States, but in foreign countries also.
Roosevelt s Corollary shows that we could help Latin American countries (Cuba, Venezuela and
Panama) by backing them up and supporting them. No other countries were allowed to seize their
land, or else we could step in. If there was a conflict between a Latin American country and a
European country, again, we had the right to step in. Whether we stepped in or not was based off of
the degree of the atrocity and upon our power to remedy it, Roosevelt says. ... Show more content on

When the Maine, was blown up, we blamed it on Spaniards and took it as a hostile act. Then, Spain

blowing up the Maine and we declared war.
The Spanish American War started, and a lot was going on. Dewey sank warships at Manila Bay in the

Keeping Orca Whales in Captivity Should Be Banned Essay
For many years, we ve been going to such places like, SeaWorld, and Six Flags, to see vast animals,
like Orcas, also known as the killer whale, which we wouldn t normally see out in the wild. Orcas
have been around for millions of years; it s known to be one of the smartest mammals, closest to
humans. Since of their friendliness, people have taken advantage of them. For the past sixty years
people have brought these massive creatures into their aquariums to make profit out of it, but never

activities, you wouldn t do in your normal life. While being in captivities, killer whales are forced to

After seeing these incidents occur, from time to time, people have urged to ban SeaWorld from doing
these activities. Keeping them activities will create more problems and will loose such person like
Dawn, who loved and cared for the animal, but they cannot be trusted. That is why they are called
Killer whales. People say that keeping orca s in captivities is not a problem, yet they do not realize
that, orcas are also human beings. There are several reasons, why keeping these thirty feet long
creatures, in captivities is a problem. One of them, which are the tank, which is too small, compared to
ocean where they can swim freely. One the other side, in captivities, the space is limited.
Comparatively, to how they swim out in the wild orcas can swim up to 100 miles per day a
phenomenal amount, in comparison to the exercise they receive in captivity (Cronin). While being in
captivity, orca has to keep swimming in circles or floats. Out In the wild, killer whales typically travel
in pods of between five and 30 (Melissa). In captivities there are only few whales, so it makes them
more aggressive toward one another. This sometimes can be lead to danger by killing each other for
fighting to gain power of the tank. There are several other reasons, why orcas

Estrogen Case Study
The brain is a major target organ for action of estrogens in both men and women. Estrogen s
neuroactive effects are multifaceted and encompass a system that ranges from the chemical to the
biochemical treatment to the genomic mechanisms, protecting brain against a wide range of
neurotoxic insults. Circulating estradiol enters the cell nucleus where it can bind two types of
receptors, ERα or ERβ. The complexes act as nuclear transcription factors by binding to an ERE
(Estrogen response element) and stimulating gene transcription which leads to increase in cellular
proteins that, by increasing neural transmission function, enhance cognitive function. Estrogen plays
important neurotrophic and neuroprotective roles during adulthood and indirectly ... Show more

Mainly in women by oophorectomy or natural menopause, decrease in ovarian hormonal output have
low concentration of estrogen and progesterone and experience a cognition decline. Estrogens have
several established neural actions that are predicted to contribute its theorized protective role against
cognition decline. These neuroprotective actions fall into three general categories: (1) improved
cognition via regulation of various processes including spine density, long term potentiation, and
neurotransmitter systems, (2) protection against neuron cell death, and (3) inhibition of select aspects
of AD neuropathology including Aβ accumulation and tau hyperphosphorylation. The ability of
estrogens to reduce Aβ accumulation may be their most important neuroprotective action against
cognition decline. As mentioned previously, Aβ formation from APP mediated by two pathways either
amyloid genic or non amyloid genic routes. If the production of low levels of soluble APP alpha by
non amyloid genic route and factors influence amyloid genic processing of APP or a reduction in the
Aβ clearance pathways can lead to accumulation of Aβ, which in turn promotes assembly of the Aβ
peptides into toxic oligomers and large insoluble fibrils that can affect brain neurons. This process can
be prevented by estrogen and following menopause the decline in estrogen may then result in
cognition decline due to the deposit of insoluble Aβ

Analysis Of Eden Falls
SUBTITLE FADE IN: 17 YEARS AGO
EXT. EDEN FALLS ESTABLISHING DAY
On a grey day, black clouds begin to RAIN. A thunderclap snaps as lightning shatters the morose sky.
CAMERA REVEALS Eden Falls, an unassuming, forgetful town in the Central California.
AIREAL SHOT OF EDEN FALLS
The homes and building of a town, the only high school, churches, a funeral home, tiny downtown, a
minuscule police station, fire station, library, downtown, the pet food factory and finally an abandoned
baseball diamond.
ON A HOUSE THAT RESEMBLES A CASTLE
On the edge of town, in a withdrawn area, high on a hill sits what appears to be a Victorian house that
reveals a castle. Built in the 1920s, the house has two turrets, unsightly undersize windows, three
spiked roofs, and a splayed base on each side. An inharmonious spiked iron gate engulfs the six
bedroom dwelling.
A NO TRESPASSING sign suspends on the front entrance. The warm California summers, howling
winters and rain storms have taken a toll on the structure near the century mark. The paint peeling,
many of the roof s shackles are gone astray, the gutter s useless, debris dripping from the corners of
the rooftop.
The once manicured lawn now a home for two feet high weeds, lifeless trees and overgrown brush.
The house should ve been condemned and demolish with a bulldozer a decade ago.
Now the RAIN is hammering, an evaporation Elm tree in the front yard continues combating the
storm for the millionth time.
In the driveway, a 1979 discolored scorched orange Cadillac Coupe Deville is parked.

Craig Crow Monologue
It all started the day I died. I think I should formally introduce myself, My name was Craig Crow and
I lived in Alabama on a corn farm with my wife and two beautiful twin sons. We lived in a house with
3 bedrooms and a very small crawl space in the attic. The barn was old with bright red paint and big
white sliding doors, we owned 2 horses, one for me and one for my son. The only way for us to get
into town was a small green beaten up pickup truck that had been passed down for generations. The
house had been passed down just like the truck had been and my whole family is buried here,
including my wife and I.
Before I say how I died, I ll tell you how it first started. One day I was in the barn with my two
children, Leo and Larry. Leo was my favorite son. He was very skinny and had perfect curly red hair

scarecrow picked it up and threw it into the fire. I turned back to him and started to yell at him about
how ugly it was and about how if he could do anything he might have his own room. While I was
doing this he was crying like a baby, even though he was 7 and should be a man and start working out
to get an 8 pack and big biceps.
While we ate Larry spilled food all over Leo so I made him sleep on the steps in front of the house
instead of having the privilege of sleeping in the cold drafty attic. Leo gave me kiss and went to his
room. In the middle of the night when Larry was sure everyone was sleeping He slowly tiptoed inside
to get a candle to find some biscuits. He tracked straw from his dirty feet throughout the house then he
finally found.

In this essay I will analyse and compare a broadsheet and a tabloid newspaper article. I hope to be able
to find differences and similarities in both articles. The Sun, which is the tabloid paper, is more of a
gossip paper than The Times, which is full of news and sophisticated vocabulary. The article I have
chosen is about the service for the September 11th attack on the Twin Towers. I will concentrate on
looking at the language used and the descriptive element of the scene. This is very important because
both articles will aim to achieve an emotional response and in order to accomplish that, the scene must

The article tries to hit the reader emotionally in as many ways as possible. It does this by telling the
reader about families who lost loved ones and how they reacted. To put across the impact of
devastation, the writer writes about people who would not normally be associated with normal people.
The writer uses words like solemnly to describe the actions and feelings of famous people, such as Sir
Rudy Guiliani and Robert de Niro. Tabloids have always been known for the use of lots of pictures
and this article is no exception. The use of pictures helps to stress the grief of the people there. The
placement of the pictures is also important. There is an image of a policeman knelling and weeping
over a fallen colleague. This picture is to show that someone who keeps law and order and is not just a
tough man . But just like us and can be broken down to tears. A child kneeling and crying, probably
over the death of a parent, echoes this picture of the policeman. To get a big emotional response the
picture of the child was put in because it is moving. At the bottom of the page there are pictures of Sir

Evaluation Of Mentoring Programs For The United States
Jordan Woltjer
11/16/2016
Course Project Part 2
Matz shows that mentoring programs were first instituted in the U.S. in the late 19th century as an
alternative to incarceration to be used in Juvenile Courts under the supervision of probation officers
(2014). According to Matz, these sentencing policies were inspired by the progressive era s focus on
alleviating the mass poverty that was caused by industrialization, immigration, and urbanization
(2014). Blakeslee and Keller state that The highly renowned Big Brothers Big Sisters of America
(BBBS) mentoring program, for example, began in 1904 in New York City and today consists of over
375 agencies serving more than 210,000 youth across the United States (2012). Matz (2014) argues
that though mentoring programs are compatible with a large range of sociological and criminological
theories, that their creation was motivated by a theoretically undeveloped humanitarian instinct that
pervaded the Progressive Era. Despite this, we can still use the empirical evidence of BBBS programs
to test theoretical perspectives such as Differential Association.
The BBBS program matches at risk youth between the ages of 6 and 18 with a volunteer mentor
whose prior screening demonstrated that they are capable of providing socialization to curb
delinquency and anti social behavior (Limber, 2001). Susan Jekielek says that The Big Brothers/Big
Sisters program takes applications from volunteers in the community and subjects each Mentor to an

Introducing The Internal Rate Of Return
INTRODUCING THE INTERNAL RATE OF RETURN (IRR)
The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is that discount rate providing a net value of zero for a future series
of cash flows. The IRR and Net Present Value (NPV) are used to decide between investments to select
what investment should provide the most returns. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NPV AND IRR
The main difference is that the Net Present Value or Net Present Value (NPV) is used as actual
amounts, while the IRR is the interest yield as a percentage expected from an investment.
When using the IRR, one generally selects the projects whose IRR is greater than the cost of capital.
However, selecting the Internal Rate of Return as opposed to the Net Present Value means that if
investors focus on maximizing IRR instead of NPV, there is a risk in picking a company with a return
on investment bigger than the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) but less than the present
return on existing assets.
IRR represent the actual annual return investment only when the project generates 0 interim cash
flows or if those investments can be invested at the current IRR.
So the goal should not be to maximize the Net Present Value (NPV).
However, this article aims to present the limitations and benefits of using the Internal Rate of Return
(IRR).
Net Present Value (NPV)
The net present value of a project depends very closely the discount rate used. So when it comes time
to compare two projects, the choice of discount rate, which is often based on

If it s profitable too, so? Then it s win win. As transparency becomes the norm (and it will be more
and more so), the usual marketing gloss will stop working. So brands, and the the people who run
them and corporations that own them, will need to stand for something more. Many already do,
through lobbying, etc. So they are indeed involved in the civic issues at hand even if they claim their
brand is not. In order for a corporation or publicly known brand to take a stance or have an opinion on
something, they must test the devotion of their buyers and supporters. Unfortunately, not all
businesses will be able to keep their clientele and it will create a huge loss of profit. Taking a stance
can mean entering uncharted waters for many brands. A cross functional team of key stakeholders and
senior leadership should make these decisions together in line with core company values. In each and
every situation, when a company decides to chose a side, there is negative feedback from multiple
parties, from the anti gay consumers, to the religious supporters who feel like if they purchase product

In An American Childhood by Annie Dillard, Dillard reminisces on her many adventures throughout
her childhood living in Pittsburgh. Her stories explain her school, her home life, her family, and
growing up. Dillard also talks about changes in her life, and how they affect her, and how she felt
about others around her. One s childhood is a crucial part of life, because it s a time of learning more
than any other time of life. Childhood is a time of curiosity and realization. What you learn in your
childhood has a big impact on how you make decisions and act as an adult. One message that I found

I would not let this happen to me. (Dillard, P.26) She had realized how people s youthful appearance
deteriorate as they aged. It kind of scared her, because she didn t want it happening to her. Another
difference Dillard observed was religion. She disliked the Catholic schoolchildren, because she was
afraid of their beliefs. She expressed thoughts on how uptight the religion was compared to her own
when she said Whatever the pope said, I thought it was no prize, it didn t work, our Protestant lives
were much sunnier, without our half trying. (Dillard, P. 33). She also talked about changes in
Pittsburgh s appearance. City workers continually paved the streets, They poured asphalt over the
streetcar tracks, streetcar tracks their fathers had wormed between the old riverworn cobblestones,
cobblestones laid smack into the notorious nineteenth century mud. This message is important because
after childhood, you start to grow more aware of the world around you, which is a big change.
Children are often oblivious to changes, but as you get older, you notice how things change more up
close and personal. Throughout An American Childhood, Dillard expresses how significant history of
various subjects are. We children lived and breathed our history our Pittsburgh history, so crucial to
the country s story and so typical of it as well without knowing for believing any of it.

Supine Positions Essay
According to Leah Albers, Certified Nurse Midwife, three quarters of all of the deliveries are
performed with women in a supine position, or lying on their backs (Keen, DiFranco, Amis, Albers,
2004). However, as evidenced throughout history women across all cultures have used both upright
and gravity neutral or supine positions to give birth to their babies. Before the introduction of the
forceps in the 17th century, women were rarely shown to be giving birth in a supine position. Earlier
in history women were encouraged to give birth guided by their own inner wisdom in a position that
was most comfortable for them; a position which was rarely lying on their back (Keen et al., 2004).

The implementation of this routine tradition has been linked to a lack of education of the nurses of the
various benefits of upright birthing positions and thus deficient knowledge of the mothers on their
different options for positioning during delivery. Furthermore, research has determined that upright
positions for delivery, such as squatting and sitting, yield more positive outcomes physically and
psychologically for the mother and the baby than gravity neutral supine positions. Nurses and other
obstetric medical professionals are reluctant to change their ways of practice because of barriers to
obtaining such knowledge related to their scope of practice. It is the job of the nursing managers on
the unit to educate their floor nurses on the benefits of upright delivery positions and the more
detrimental effects of supine delivery positions so their patients can have full knowledge and control
of the birthing process when deciding on a birthing position as to achieve the most optimal delivery
experience as possible. Upright birthing positions, as stated before, are more optimal for the mother
and the baby during the second stage of labor. The second stage of labor begins when the cervix is
completely dilated to 10 centimeters and ends with the birth of the infant (Davidson, London,

  • 2. The Quality Of Education For Tanzanians Children In general, what is at stake is not the description of the population numbers, but concerns about the quality of education for Tanzanians children. Honestly, the growing number of children in Tanzania as (Woods, 2009) alerts, is a clarion call for the country, not only to invest in education, but also excessively in other public services. Comparable to other poor countries as Jeffrey Sachs and Easterly (2006) highlighted, the poor people live entangled in inadequacy, in which taking to account the global abuse of children, poor wellbeing, learning, and poor arrangement reinforce one another (p. 10 ). It is incontestable that children are the eyes of the future of any nation, consequently financing beyond their education quality would be the ultimate investment for their development. This is to say, parents, teachers, and communities need to ensure the safety of children and monitor what they learn in classrooms, while paying a distinctive attention to the marginalized children likely to be victims of quality education and exclusion. The History and Education in Tanzania Tanganyika, now the United Republic of Tanzania, came to existence after the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar in 1964 (World Data on Education, 2010). Historically, the merger took place after colonial liberation of Tanganyika in 1961, and Zanzibar in 1963 all from Britain. Before the arrival of colonial powers in Tanzania, education was informal. According to Omolewa (2007) informal education is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Forensic team in waders carry bones from the edge of the lake (p.g 37) and Through the open window I smelt wild lupins and estuary mud (p.g 37). In the first pages of this chapter I, was a young boy who played with the Box kids across the street and they were Catholics who all smelled the same. The Joneses, were Aboriginals who didn t need to keep up with complicated situations, but were always angry, dark and loud. This chapter involves information about a character who was a child, who passed a remote lagoon and swampland everyday on his way to school, and eventually gained the courage to explore within the depth of the location. At attempting to unlock this secret passage, it included many secrets and mysteries that needed to be discovered. By reading Aquifer , this brought the characters to a place that they felt immediately in connection with, this included memories that were buried in their past that they have shaped and now believe that they are today. • 4. Erikson s Eight Stages Of Development Case Study The early stages of any person s life are the most crucial for cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. The first few years for a toddler are even more important because their growth is significantly more rapid during this time period. I observed the growth of a 20 month old boy who I will refer to as Theo. My observations occurred at Theo s Aunt s house with his Aunt, Mother and Grandmother present. His usual environment is at his grandparent s house under the primary care of his mother. The first category that I observed Theo on was his level of physical development. I used a few different resource charts to determine whether or not Theo is developing properly in all aspects physically compared to the rest of his age group. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I observed a lot of autonomy in Theo, he was able to move around without any help, he was even able to maneuver up and down stairs without assistance. He turns pages of his books by himself, feeds himself, and tries to copy what the adults around him do especially if they are doing cleaning activities. He tries his best to do all of these tasks alone, until he becomes frustrated enough to ask for help. He also learns the cause and effect of his behavior fairly well, it would take him a few tries to remember an action he did before, but one he recognized the result he could do it confidently. One specific example that I recall, we were all outside and he was gathering leaves that had fallen in the yard. He saw that I was sitting on the stairs watching him and he came over with the pile of leaves and gave them too me. I said thank you , this continued at least five or six time and on the last time he put the leaves in my hand but I delayed saying thank you and he stopped and looked at me waiting for me to say thank you and once I did he went back into the yard and continued playing. I found this interesting because he seemed proud of his actions when I told him thank you and the one time I hesitated, he picked up on it and waited for the result he had consistently been getting from his action. I also experienced him show signs of guilt when he got in trouble for doing something. At one point he hit his grandmother and got scolded for it, he immediately began crying, having full awareness he had done something wrong. His mother said to please not do that again because it hurts people and she said I love you. Will you please go tell Nana that you are sorry? . He shook his head yes and went over and apologized and suddenly became happy again and moved on from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Up till this point women had gained property rights within marriage in several Ohio and Mississippi Valley states, and the trend was spreading, fast, and divorce became slightly more prevalent, with the legal grounds increased. With the growth of the Industrial Revolution, women were given work opportunities, and with a rising demand for teachers more and more women were becoming educated in institutions. Nursing jobs also became popular. In1849, Elizabeth Blackwell received her M.D. degree from the Medical Institution of Geneva, N.Y., becoming the first woman in the U.S. with a medical degree. All these causes lead women, inevitably, towards feminism, a socio religious and socio political philosophy born at the end of the Age of Jackson. Feminism was affecting moral reform, and was right there at the heart. These women activists pushed and shoved till they got their way. I will speak a little about his identity at the beginning of the comedy, then who he is compared to metaphorically, and finally about the development of his character throughout the play. Initially, Benedick appears as a character meant entirely for comic relief, acting as if the most crucial part of his personality is his wit and humor. To justify, or draw parallels to his point of view, Mulvany points to the September 11th attacks of 2001 as an example of how we rallied behind the FDNY, NYPD, and hardhats, yet 14 years later, there may not be enough political will to even pass the Zardoga act to extend health care benefits for people injured saving others that day (Mulvaney 2015). • 28. Comparing Articles on the September 11th Attack in Two... In this essay I will analyse and compare a broadsheet and a tabloid newspaper article. I hope to be able to find differences and similarities in both articles. The Sun, which is the tabloid paper, is more of a gossip paper than The Times, which is full of news and sophisticated vocabulary. The article I have chosen is about the service for the September 11th attack on the Twin Towers. I will concentrate on looking at the language used and the descriptive element of the scene. This is very important because both articles will aim to achieve an emotional response and in order to accomplish that, the scene must be described in great detail. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The article tries to hit the reader emotionally in as many ways as possible. It does this by telling the reader about families who lost loved ones and how they reacted. To put across the impact of devastation, the writer writes about people who would not normally be associated with normal people. The writer uses words like solemnly to describe the actions and feelings of famous people, such as Sir Rudy Guiliani and Robert de Niro. Tabloids have always been known for the use of lots of pictures and this article is no exception. The use of pictures helps to stress the grief of the people there. The placement of the pictures is also important. There is an image of a policeman knelling and weeping over a fallen colleague. This picture is to show that someone who keeps law and order and is not just a tough man . But just like us and can be broken down to tears. A child kneeling and crying, probably over the death of a parent, echoes this picture of the policeman. To get a big emotional response the picture of the child was put in because it is moving. • 29. Evaluation Of Mentoring Programs For The United States Jordan Woltjer 11/16/2016 Course Project Part 2 Matz shows that mentoring programs were first instituted in the U.S. in the late 19th century as an alternative to incarceration to be used in Juvenile Courts under the supervision of probation officers (2014). According to Matz, these sentencing policies were inspired by the progressive era s focus on alleviating the mass poverty that was caused by industrialization, immigration, and urbanization (2014). Blakeslee and Keller state that The highly renowned Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBS) mentoring program, for example, began in 1904 in New York City and today consists of over 375 agencies serving more than 210,000 youth across the United States (2012). Matz (2014) argues that though mentoring programs are compatible with a large range of sociological and criminological theories, that their creation was motivated by a theoretically undeveloped humanitarian instinct that pervaded the Progressive Era. Despite this, we can still use the empirical evidence of BBBS programs to test theoretical perspectives such as Differential Association. The BBBS program matches at risk youth between the ages of 6 and 18 with a volunteer mentor whose prior screening demonstrated that they are capable of providing socialization to curb delinquency and anti social behavior (Limber, 2001). Susan Jekielek says that The Big Brothers/Big Sisters program takes applications from volunteers in the community and subjects each Mentor to an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Introducing The Internal Rate Of Return INTRODUCING THE INTERNAL RATE OF RETURN (IRR) The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is that discount rate providing a net value of zero for a future series of cash flows. The IRR and Net Present Value (NPV) are used to decide between investments to select what investment should provide the most returns. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NPV AND IRR The main difference is that the Net Present Value or Net Present Value (NPV) is used as actual amounts, while the IRR is the interest yield as a percentage expected from an investment. When using the IRR, one generally selects the projects whose IRR is greater than the cost of capital. However, selecting the Internal Rate of Return as opposed to the Net Present Value means that if investors focus on maximizing IRR instead of NPV, there is a risk in picking a company with a return on investment bigger than the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) but less than the present return on existing assets. IRR represent the actual annual return investment only when the project generates 0 interim cash flows or if those investments can be invested at the current IRR. So the goal should not be to maximize the Net Present Value (NPV). However, this article aims to present the limitations and benefits of using the Internal Rate of Return (IRR). Net Present Value (NPV) The net present value of a project depends very closely the discount rate used. So when it comes time to compare two projects, the choice of discount rate, which is often based on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the ad for Smirnoff from July 2013, there was a clear stance in the support for gay marriage and the news traveled fast. Shown in the ad are three pairs of drink combinations; two martini glasses, two tumbler glasses and a martini tumbler combination. The ad was simple, eye catching and genuine yet still tied back to the brand. The ad is one of few that supports same sex couples through it s creative symbolism and other corporations should do the same. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If it s profitable too, so? Then it s win win. As transparency becomes the norm (and it will be more and more so), the usual marketing gloss will stop working. So brands, and the the people who run them and corporations that own them, will need to stand for something more. Many already do, through lobbying, etc. So they are indeed involved in the civic issues at hand even if they claim their brand is not. In order for a corporation or publicly known brand to take a stance or have an opinion on something, they must test the devotion of their buyers and supporters. Unfortunately, not all businesses will be able to keep their clientele and it will create a huge loss of profit. Taking a stance can mean entering uncharted waters for many brands. A cross functional team of key stakeholders and senior leadership should make these decisions together in line with core company values. In each and every situation, when a company decides to chose a side, there is negative feedback from multiple parties, from the anti gay consumers, to the religious supporters who feel like if they purchase product from one of these companies that dont believe the same things they do that it means they now are in agreement, but that is not the case. In An American Childhood by Annie Dillard, Dillard reminisces on her many adventures throughout her childhood living in Pittsburgh. Her stories explain her school, her home life, her family, and growing up. Dillard also talks about changes in her life, and how they affect her, and how she felt about others around her. One s childhood is a crucial part of life, because it s a time of learning more than any other time of life. Childhood is a time of curiosity and realization. What you learn in your childhood has a big impact on how you make decisions and act as an adult. One message that I found while reading An American Childhood is that life is sometimes not what it seems. Annie Dillard explained this concept when she said, The ... It kind of scared her, because she didn t want it happening to her. Another difference Dillard observed was religion. She disliked the Catholic schoolchildren, because she was afraid of their beliefs. She expressed thoughts on how uptight the religion was compared to her own when she said Whatever the pope said, I thought it was no prize, it didn t work, our Protestant lives were much sunnier, without our half trying. (Dillard, P. 33). She also talked about changes in Pittsburgh s appearance. City workers continually paved the streets, They poured asphalt over the streetcar tracks, streetcar tracks their fathers had wormed between the old riverworn cobblestones, cobblestones laid smack into the notorious nineteenth century mud. This message is important because after childhood, you start to grow more aware of the world around you, which is a big change. Children are often oblivious to changes, but as you get older, you notice how things change more up close and personal. Throughout An American Childhood, Dillard expresses how significant history of various subjects are. Supine Positions Essay According to Leah Albers, Certified Nurse Midwife, three quarters of all of the deliveries are performed with women in a supine position, or lying on their backs (Keen, DiFranco, Amis, Albers, 2004). However, as evidenced throughout history women across all cultures have used both upright and gravity neutral or supine positions to give birth to their babies. Before the introduction of the forceps in the 17th century, women were rarely shown to be giving birth in a supine position. Earlier in history women were encouraged to give birth guided by their own inner wisdom in a position that was most comfortable for them; a position which was rarely lying on their back (Keen et al., 2004). The implementation of this routine tradition has been linked to a lack of education of the nurses of the various benefits of upright birthing positions and thus deficient knowledge of the mothers on their different options for positioning during delivery. Furthermore, research has determined that upright positions for delivery, such as squatting and sitting, yield more positive outcomes physically and psychologically for the mother and the baby than gravity neutral supine positions. Nurses and other obstetric medical professionals are reluctant to change their ways of practice because of barriers to obtaining such knowledge related to their scope of practice. It is the job of the nursing managers on the unit to educate their floor nurses on the benefits of upright delivery positions and the more detrimental effects of supine delivery positions so their patients can have full knowledge and control of the birthing process when deciding on a birthing position as to achieve the most optimal delivery experience as possible. Upright birthing positions, as stated before, are more optimal for the mother and the baby during the second stage of labor. The second stage of labor begins when the cervix is completely dilated to 10 centimeters and ends with the birth of the infant (Davidson, London, Ladewig, 2012, p. 542). As evidenced ...
