Roman Law During The Enlightenment Era
Roman Law
Justice has been misperceived to go hand and hand with rules in which a society must conform to,
mostly in due part to the enlightenment era. In the case with the Romans, the laws they established,
especially early on, dealing with the spread of Christianity has been interpreted with a sense of
disgust for the unfair treatment targeted towards Christians, and later on to those of other faiths.
However, I argue that, Roman law, when concerning religion, was used to strengthen the identity of
what it meant to be Roman. Furthermore, as Rome, the political institution, was beginning to
decay, as an act of acclamation, the formulation of Roman Laws allowed Christianity to be a main
means of connection to what it meant to identify as Roman. Utilizing various primary sources, it is
evident that faith had been gradually accepted as the dominant form of unity and law, beginning
with Emperor Diocletian to Emperor Theodosia, even among emperors, the Catholic faith had
shown that all men were under God, and under God they were all Roman.
Roman law had first concerned itself with the spread of the Christian faith under the rule of
Emperor Diocletian. Becoming the victor of a civil war, Diocletian had acquired the right to rule.
Through his reign, it was evident that Diocletian had wanted to enforce his political strength, by
imposing various methods to his empire, with varying degrees of success. Reorganizing the state by
means of repairing infrastructure, creations of

The Role Of Zinc In The Gastrointestinal System
The aim of this article is to show the role of Zinc in the gastrointestinal system and its utility in
children with diarrhea. Diarrhea remains a serious health problem in the developing countries and
predominantly affects children under five years old. Diarrheal diseases are the second leading
cause of death for children and one of the main causes of malnutritionin children under five.
However, they are preventable and treatable diseases.
Malnourished refers to a pathological condition caused by lack of intake or absorption of nutrients
including proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins and/or minerals. Malnutrition causes various
health problems affecting the normal growth and development, can lead to mental and intellectual

The Oral rehydration therapy is very useful to prevent dehydration risk and, therefore, to reduce
mortality rates from diarrheal disease. On the other hand, Zinc supplementation has shown
effectiveness to diminish severity and duration related to the increase of morbidity and
malnutrition in children under 5 years old. So, Zinc supplementation is an inexpensive and
secure adjunctive therapy. Besides, it might avoid treatment of diarrhea with unnecessary
antibiotics and other drugs. Zinc sulphate, Zinc acetate or Zinc gluconate are the commonly
used at 20 mg per day for 10 14 days or 10 mg per day for infants under six months old.

The Culture And Culture Of South Africa
South African heritage and culture is immensely diverse, and consists of many different groups of
people who each have their own traditions and beliefs. Having such a diversity of people and
cultures is what makes South Africa so unique. In the true sense of the phrase, we are a rainbow
nation.
The Portuguese culture and heritage is one that is quite dense and easily found within the mix of all
the other cultures in South Africa. South Africa has approximately three hundred thousand
Portuguese people living in it. Making it the 7th on the list of countries with the most Portuguese
people in it outside of Portugal.
Portuguese is not only a culture, but it is also a language and a nationality. Portuguese people
originate from the country of Portugal in Europe, however, due to Portugal (like many other
countries in Europe) exploring the world and conquering other countries during the 15th 20th
centuries, South Africa has what we call Portuguese South African s living in it. Portuguese people
are true blue blood Christians and most follow the Roman Catholic faith.

Each of the heritages present in South Africa is different and unique in their own ways. Portuguese
is different, because it originates from Europe, the food has a Mediterranean influence, the clothing

other heritages in South Africa, Portuguese doesn t have that much of a long running history within
the country. In order to fully understand some of the differences, one can make a comparison of
Portuguese to that of the San. The San people have been present in South Africa since 44 000 BCE,
the Portuguese since the 15th century; the Portuguese speak the language of Portuguese, the San

him in here and leaves. Then the first chapter starts with a group and the main character name Mark

and sometimes scare me. The languages used in the book is not complicated it is every easy to

Pandas In Order Carnivora
Pandas official biological information shows that they are of the class Mammalia, order Carnivora,
family Urisidae, and genus Ailuropoda ( Giant Panda Bear , 2008). It is interesting that pandas are
in the order Carnivora, but their diet consists of almost entirely bamboo making them nearly
exclusively herbivore. Meaning that not all speciesthat are classified as Carnivora eat meat, but all
do have strongly developed teeth made for grinding many tough items for digestion. Adult pandas
are unique in the sense that they lack many natural predators due to their large size and unique
environment. One of the biggest threat to the specie are humans who have hunted the animal for

Case Study Of Steven M. Labrie s Vacation For Attorneys
RESPONDENT TEAMSTERS LOCAL 251 OBJECTION TO PETITION FOR ATTORNEYS
FEES This matter is before the Court on a Petition Steven M. Labrie for attorney s fees
associated with his appeal from a decision from the Department of Labor and Training [ DLT ].
For the reasons set forth below, Labrie is not entitled to attorney s fees for services rendered on
appeal. Alternatively, in the event that attorney s fees are allowable, they are within the
jurisdiction of the Director of the Department of Labor and Training rather than the Superior
Court. 1.On October 1, 2015, the DLT determined that Labrie was entitled to vacation pay for
2013, but not for vacation pay for 2008 through 2012. Labrie appealed pursuant to G.L. В§42 35
15, the Administrative Procedures Act. 2.On January 12, 2017, this Court reversed pertinent
portions of the DLT decision. 3.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Labrie s reliance on G.L. В§28 14 19(c) for an award of further attorney s fees is without merit.
That section specifically provides that the DLT director may direct payment of reasonable
attorney s fees and costs to the complaining party. Thus, an award of attorney s fees is
discretionary within the jurisdiction of the DLT, rather than this court. 4.The Administrative
Procedures Act, G.L. В§42 35 15, on which Labrie relied on in connection with his appeal,
contains no provision for an award of attorney s fees to a prevailing party. In addition, Rhode
Island follows the American rule which bars an award of attorney s fees in the absence of statutory
authority. As the Supreme court noted in Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island v. Najarian,
attorney s fees may not be appropriately awarded to the prevailing party absent contractual or
statutory authorization. 911 A.2nd 706, 710

The Weight Of A Healthy Lifestyle
The Weight of a Healthy Lifestyle The human race is obsessed with perfection. Different forms
of media filled with rhetoric force human beings to have a certain expectations for themselves.
These expectations can be unrealistic and impossible to obtain. Human beings have been known
to go to extreme lengths and basically force their body to shape a certain way. This is unhealthy.
Even if someone needs to lose some extra pounds there is a correct way to do so. However, there
are also ways to lose weight that do not benefit the overall healthof one s body. In a human s search
for perfection mental and physical disorders can form. Generally when thinking about eating
disorders one will think of anorexia or bulimia. These eating disorders are... Show more content on

Sometimes eating disordered people do not even realize what negative things they are doing to
their body. Sometimes weight loss can turn into an addiction. An eating disorder is defined as a
pathological obsession with getting and staying thin . Regardless of size, sex, or race there is
some form of media, or peer pressure that influence people s thinking. This pressure is not of a
physical nature. It all deals with one s mental state. Images of an ideal body is ingrained into the
mind starting at a young age. Thinner and thicker people both can develop eating disorders from
a thin ideal. Often the disorders that are associated with thinner people are disorders such as
anorexia and bulimia. These disorders do not let the body consume or digest food. In the case of
bulimia which is defined as an eating disorder characterized by at least biweekly cycles of
purging in an obsessive attempt to lose weight. So basically the food is eaten and then
immediately regurgitated. When this is done none of the nutrients from the food is able to
absorb into the body. In addition the act of vomiting causes dangerous acids to hit one s throat
and back of teeth. In the case of anorexia which is defined as a potentially life threatening eating
disorder characterized by pathological dieting and by a distorted body image. Food is rarely
consumed and the individual has a distorted image of what their body looks like. The results of
these disorders can lead to

Gender Roles In Mulan
We all grew up watching the Disney princesses on screen being rescued by her Prince Charming
or Knight in shining armor. However, not all Disney movies were about a princess being rescued.
There was one where she did the rescuing . Mulan came out on June 5, 1998. Mulan best shows a
character breaking out of the standard genderroles of society; therefore, Mulan shows that great
things happen when we step out of the gender roles society has created. Mulan is a movie that
takes place during 6th century China when the Mongolian Huns invaded China by crossing the
Great wall and started a war that lasted twelve years. The movie starts when the Hans first
attacking and crossing the Great Wall. The emperor is warned about the attack. He calls for one man
from each family to serve the army saying A single grain of rice can tip the scale. One man may
be the difference between victory and defeat. The movie then moves on to Mulan Getting ready
to meet the Matchmaker. This part of the movie shows that females were to prepare their whole
lives learning to be posed, graceful, not speak unless spoken and other ways to act, until they meet
the matchmaker. The matchmaker would determine if and who they would marry. Since Mulan
was the Hau families only daughter the only way to bring honor to their family would be too
marry a high ranked person. However, Mulan right away starts to break out of society s gender role.
During her meeting with the matchmaker, she fails miserably. First she

Analysis Of The Movie Kane Monroe
KANE MONROE presents with a very intriguing blend of story types. It blends an old fashion
western revenge story with fantasy and action. The goal is clear and the stakes are high. It s a
story that easily engages. The audience effortlessly roots for Kane Monroe.
The setting feels authentic to the time period and to the culture. The characters are likable and
seem to be castable, especially Kane. The action sequences are nicely crafted.
The script offers a three act structure. The first act establishes that Kane has visions of past lives,
but in all his lives he encounters one villain. The inciting event is when he sees a wanted poster
that looks like his nemesis. He leaves home on a determined quest that propels the story forward.

Perhaps it s because there isn t one consistent backstory regarding William that the audience can
follow.
If the past lives element is important, the story might work more appropriately if the fantasy
element were more developed and one could fully understand the love story and the rival between
William and Luther.
Instead of the idea that Kane has lived multiple past lives, perhaps consider the idea that he has
just lived one. In fact, the script doesn t really show his other lives in detail. There s a vision of
being a Japanese Samurai, but it s very short lived and no real story is developed and Luther/Moss
isn t in that fantasy.
Thus, the rules of the world need to be clarified. The audience is told he lives other lives, but with
one consistent nemesis, but the story doesn t follow through on this.
The other alternative is to just create an old fashioned western revenge story, but to make it more
unique by having Kane trained in the art of martial arts and sword fighting (similar to Kung Fu TV
series).
There are features of the script not well understood and would benefit from more development.
The sequences involving Lillian are a bit confusing. Is she working with Moss? Why were the
bandits after Kane? What might not be clear is if Moss has ordered his men to find Kane and/or
when Moss realizes Kane is on his trail. This should be clarified.
The other area of the script that becomes perplexing is Traveling Bear and Running Flower. When

The Spanish And Mexican Period
1. The story line I am going to talk about is power and oppression, throughout California s history
there has been many events of power and oppression that has shaped California s history in many
ways. I selected this storyline because I am able to relate many of these events that have happened
throughout history. I will described the Spanish and Mexican period, the Americanization period,
the early 20th century, and the late 20th century to today.
First I will begin with the Spanish and Mexican period 1776 1846, during these period we could
see that there was a lot of power and oppression that started with the Spanish conquest to expand
their colonization. The spanish brought with them christianity trying to convert Native Americans
to become that same religion, the spanish developed a series of presidios, missions, and pueblos
in the lands of Native Americans where they were forced to change their religion, customs, and
culture to become part of the Spanish. Many Native Americans were killed by the Spanish soldiers
when they would decline to change their way of living. The Spanish practice oppression trying to
convert this people into christianity this is an example of the power and oppression the spanish
used during these period of time. After Mexico became independent from the Spanish empire the
Mexican government took control of California and during these period, the Mexican government
put an end to the mission/presidio system. The Mexican government allowed

Essay On Mao s Last Dancer
The autobiography, Mao s Last Dancer written by Li Cunxin, is effective in raising awareness of
the injustice the Chinese people experienced during Chairman Mao s Cultural Revolution and
later communist policies in China. When Li s parents got married in 1946, they were not living
in poverty. However, when the Japanese invaded China during WWII and forced all the civilians
into communes, Mao then kept these communes and the Li family lost their wealth they faced
injustice and marginalisation. The Chinese population were marginalised by Mao s use of
communist principles and propaganda. They were forced into believing Mao s views that the West

Ontological Argument On The Existence Of God
Is God prevalent in modern philosophy? How can one determine such a conclusion without
definitive proof of it s existence. Within this essay I will be addressing the topic of the existence of
God, I will examine proofs such as the Ontological Argument and Cosmological Argument. In doing
so testing its advantages while also providing contradictory arguments as posed by philosophers
such as Kant and Hume.
The first ontological argument for the proof of Gods existence was posed by St.Anselm of
Canterbury (1033 1109 C.E), he reasons the existence of God from the idea of a being than which
no greater can be conceived . According to St.Anselm God is defined as the greatest thing at which
we could possibly imagine, moreover he exists as an abstract ... Show more content on

Following this premise all events and beginnings in this world are from direct causation from a
higher being, in this case God. The question in the root of this argument is one involved with the
matter of existence, Why do things exist? . The KalДЃm argument is one which was favored by the
Islamic tradition although later revived later by the philosopher William Lane Craig. This
argument basis itself on the idea that everything in existence has a cause to it s existence, Stephen
Law gives the example that our parents are our direct cause. This leads us to the assumption that
the Universe began to exist and therefore has some direct causation of its existence, in accordance
to this argument only God fits that role. David Hume however disagrees he explains that we can
only establish truth through experience, thus we do not have enough experience in this field or yet
definitive proof, maybe our current state of the universe needs direct causation however we do not
have enough knowledge of universal origins. Furthermore Bertrand Russel introduces the notion of
Infinite Regress , he says that the universe is just there and that s it maybe the world we know is
not that of an act of creation but rather that one caught in an infinite cycle of regressed causes. This
argument poses that we cannot accredit everything that has

September 21st, 1937. The novel tells the story of the young Bilbo Baggins who has been limited
to the simple lifestyle of a hobbit. Bilbo Baggins was no different from the average hobbit until
Gandalf, the wizard, shows up unannounced at the hobbits door. This is the beginning of Bilbo s

Through the story, Tub gained confidence to confront his friends and the courage to reveal his

introduced sitting in the truck while picking up Tub. Frank is laid back, yet joins with Kenny to

Misandry Feminism
Feminism. In today s modern age, when most people hear that word, they cringe and think of ugly,
hairy women ejecting hatred towards men, women that think they are subordinate and higher than
every man out there, and women that desire nothing more than to emasculate the opposite sex. If
they took the time to educate themselves, they could learn that feminismand misandry are two very
different words. As Oxford dictionary describes it, Misandry is a hatred of men while Feminism is
the equality of the sexes. With phrases like Women s turn to dominate! and All men are pigs! I can
understand why some people think that misandry equates to feminism. To encourage dialogue
between men and women in addressing these issues, there must be an end in viewing feminists as
misandrists. Instead of empowering all genders, it puts them down. The misconception about
feminism comes from a lack of understanding what feminists goals are. The main goal being gender
equality. To achieve economic and social equality, we must acknowledge the three reasons why it is
still relevant today; gender roles, the wage gap, and rape culture. Ever since the Seneca Falls
Convention in 1848, the first convention for women s rights in the Unites States, feminism has
become an essential movement that our world needs to progress. This convention was a movement
that was organized by two abolitionists who met at the 1840 World Anti Slavery Convention in

parent (parallel) talk because they were both speaking like adults and both wre interested in the
other s words. If the second lady would have rejected the first lady s comment (child) and insulted
her by saying she was just impatient the conversation would be finish because neither got and I m
ok you re ok feeling. I somewhat have come to understand that other people need affection to get
through life felling that they re ok just as much as myself. Affection doesn t have to be a kiss or a
hug but just a simple sit down and listening. You have to pay attention to what the other person is
saying and recognize wether they are using their parent or child to talk to you. Ultimately the Adult
makes the decisions but the parent and child are the influences on the adult s decision. I know
that I have to be aware of this because I have to know which of my parent or child to use to talk
back them. The child inside everyone needs stroking all throughout life and if it is deprived from
that then that person will feel he or she is not ok. If I were to have a conversation with someone
and they were using their inner child and I used my inner parent to comfort them or stroke them

The Navigation of Christopher Columbus and the Age of...
Before beginning the research for this work, I had planned on producing a paper and presentation
which detailed the history of open sea navigation and the difficulties and dangers which would have
faced sailors and seamen during the Age of Discovery. My premise was that we, living in the
twentifirst century, had lost touch with the reality of just how hazardous a voyage such as that
undertaken by Columbuswas. I had hoped to be able to capturefor the listener and reader a sense of
wonder at the bold willingness to risk life and limbthat was demonstrated by the explorers of this
era as they left the safety of the waters and oceans that they knew, to challenge the unknown. I had
wanted to capture that feeling of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Columbus voyage to the West was a risk only in the sense that all sea voyages undertaken at this
time placed those sailing at the mercy of the winds, the waves, and the weather, with the added
possibility that either pirates or Muslims would be encountered. Navigation, and the navigator s
understanding of the world, had by this time developed to the point where Columbus was not
stepping blindly into the abyss, but rather was choosing a course of action based on what was
believed to be sure knowledge.
The histories of navigation and sailing are intertwined in such a way that for the purpose of this
study they cannot be separated. Also a part of this story are what I believe to be some intriguing
possibilities regarding the peopling of the Americas and the rise of Native American civilizations.
No one knows for certain either where, or when, man first began using floatation as a method of
dealing with the rivers, streams, lakes, and other bodies of water that he found in the world
around him. However, one can easily imagine a scenario in which early man discovered that a
floating log, a matted bed of reeds, or some other buoyant object could be used to support his own
weight in the water. What we do know is that some of humanity s oldest written histories and oral

Essay On Lord Of The Flies Nature Vs Nurture
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Goulding the boys are on a plane that is shot down
stranding them on an island with no adults. Eventually the boys behavior changes from civil to
savage and immoral this may be due to nature or nurture. Nature is the biological factors that
influence a person s behavior. Whereas nurture is the situation influencing behavior. The boys
savage and immoral behavior in Lord of the Flies should be blamed on nurture because no adult
authority figures were present to enforce rules and the boys don t know how to cooperate well.
The boys are influenced by nurture on the island this is shown by having no adults to make rules
and having everything fall apart. For example, We ve got to have rules and obey them. After all,
we re not savages. We re English, and the English are best at everything...I m chief. I was
chosen. Why should choosing make any difference? Just giving orders that don t make any sense .
(Goulding, 58 129). When the boys first get to the island they decide they are going to have rules
and follow them but as their stay continues they start to not only not follow the rules but they start
to question the leader that put them forth. Since the boys did not have any adults around they will
not listen to someone their age trying to enforce the rules they do not want to follow. Further
evidence is, Most of the participants said they had felt involved and committed. The research had
felt real to them. One... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Jane Adddams Speech
Rhetoric Essay Jane Addams speech explains her stance of George Washington s legacy as a
soldier, statesman, and a Virginia planter. In this speech, Jane Addams references George
Washington s accomplishments in his past, including how things would be if he is to be present
today. The most significant uses of rhetorical devices in this speech include hypophora, rhetorical
questions, enumeratio, distinctio, and metaphors. The use of hypophora in this passage are more
frequent than any other rhetorical device. A hypophora is a technique to ask a questionthen give an
immediate answer to provide the reader with quick information, the use of hypophora in the
passage reduces the amount of questions the reader may have in mind. First, as a soldier. What
is it that we admire about the soldier? It is not that he goes into battle; what we admire about the
soldier is that he has the power of losing his own life for the life of a larger cause;... (Addams, 4).
In this paragraph, Jane Addams asks the audience why one may admire George Washington as a
soldier. Listing the characteristics he has as a man of war, it defines his actions as the basis of a
true American.
What was is that sustained him during all those days, all those weeks, during all those months and
years? It was the belief that they were founding a nation on the axiom that all men are created free
and equal. (Addams, 6). This hypophora gives a tone of patriotism to the audience, while also
intensifying the importance of George Washington as a statesman and his commitment as one.
When George Washington frames the constitution, the hypophora answers to why he decides to
frame it. Stating that because of this belief that all men are free and equal, it encourages George
Washington to sustain through all those years.
With many other hypophoria along this passage, one that has an important significance is when
Addams explains the greatest menace of the nation. If we look out upon our national perspective,
do we not see certainly one great menace which calls for patriotism? We see all around us a spirit
of materialism... (Addams, 5). The use of this rhetorical device emphasizes the will of the country
to go against this greed of materialism with the honor

How does the play within the play enhance your enjoyment of the rest of A Midsummer Night s

The Asian Financial Crisis Of 1997
Commonly referred to as the Asian Contagion the East Asian financial crisis of 1997 marked a
time in which multiple Asian countries fell into a recession as a result of financialization.
Although the East Asian financial crisis affected over ten countries, Thailand s economy is will
first be primarily analyzed prior to the crash because it was the first economy to fall and essentially
started the crisis. In retrospect, the complexity of the financial crisis has caused much debate on
what actually started the crisis in the first place. In order to address the various positions of the East
Asian financial crisis, the works of Charles Kindleberger, Krippner, and Dani Rodrik are analyzed
and compared. While the crisis has many components that ultimately suggest that conjoined
multiple factors are potentially to blame, these authors suggest that specific instances are the main
culprit. In essence, Kindleberger states that investor and lender speculation deemed the crisis
inevitable, Krippner condemns government policies, while Rodrik suggests that hyper
globalization is to blame. In order to analyze the causes of the financial crisis, it is imperative to
first describe Thailand s economic practices prior to 1997 chronologically. Moreover, it is important
to note that the Thai government was known for being a corrupt, notoriously unstable multi party
coalitions unable to formulate (let alone implement) a coherent macroeconomic policy. So, much of

The Absolutism Of King Louis XIV Essay
Louis XIV, the ruler of France from the late seventeenth century to the early eighteenth century,
claimed, I am the state. He considered this to be absolutism. His goal, also acquainted with
absolutism, was, one king, one law, one faith; Furthermore, Louis wanted to promote religious
unity, royal dignity, and security of the state. In order to achieve this goal, he had to rule with a
firm hand, laying down the law for all to see. Louis XIV s absolutism fostered in four major parts:
the building of Versailles to control the nobility, the breeding of a strong military, the improvement
of France s economy, and, while quite harsh, the brutal extinction of religious toleration. After the

In 1685, Louis revoked the Edict of Nantes and put the Edict of Fontainebleau in its place.
Because of this document, all religious toleration for Huguenots (previously allowed by the
Edict of Nantes) was no longer allowed, leaving them with two options: convert to Catholicism
or leave France. Through this law, Louis achieved national religious unity. In 1661 Louis
appointed Jean Baptiste Colbert as controller general of finances. This proved to be very
successful in adding to the increase of France s economy, and it helped Louis achieve his second
goal of having one law. Colbert s ideas were similar to that of mercantilism. He insisted on
having an economic system that would make France a self sufficient powerful country where
they exported more than they imported. He improved France s economy through the invention
of a merchant marine fleet, the support of industries, the control of tariffs on French goods, and
the collection of taxes. All of these gained money for France, which led to the creation of a
powerful army. Due to a powerful army, France was able to secure its natural frontiers, even in
the North East, which was France s weakest natural border. While Louis claimed a flaw of his was
that, I loved war too much, he was able to make a strong French presence in Europe, adding to his
idea of one law. Louis XIV was successful in achieving one king, one law, one faith. He was able to

Catholic Theatre Vs Modern Theatre
Theater, especially realism, is suppose to show real life experience.,but real life experiences can
also be seen as a metaphorical theatrical performance. Some of my daily activity seem like a
theatrical performance, but one occasion that has the strongest elements of theater happens every

theatrical elements that accept the ideas of theater that we learn in class like audienceinteraction,

The Causes Of Capitalism
Capitalism has established what many others were unable to before; it has created a single
economic system for the world (Johnston). This essay will illustrate the flaws in capitalism as
viewed by Engels. It will define historical materialism, and will analyze the fundamental and
secondary discrepancies in capitalism as mentioned by Engels. Lastly, the following paper will also
demonstrate what Engels believes is the outcome of capitalism. In Engel s excerpt on Theoretical ,
Engel begins by describing historical materialismas a principle of production and exchange of
products, which is the basis of every social order (Engels 293). Historical materialism analyzes the
material conditions of society, how people produce and exchange items (Johnston). It is the way in
which society is producing and exchanging goods that creates social relations as well as hierarchy
(Johnston). Furthermore, the mode of production conditions social relations and one s
consciousness. The way an individual perceives the world ultimately arises from our social and
economic structures (Johnston). Society is further divided into social classes which is determined
by what is produced, how it is produced, and how the product is exchanged (Johnston). The
fundamental contradiction in capitalism as laid out by Engels is social production and individual
appropriation. The fundamental contradiction is the idea that the capitalist appropriates the
products that the working class create. The modern

The original intent behind the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia Former Wartime Service (SSI FWTS),

were assigned or serving with larger deployed echelons such as brigades, divisions, corps, Army
commands or higher. The Army Regulation (AR) covering the Wear and Appearance of Army
Uniforms and Insignia is 670 1. In Paragraph 28, sub section 17, the guidelines for the combat

This policy change is effective immediately and is not retroactive. In addition, the policy change
and guidance is applicable to Soldiers of all components that deploy during periods of service
designated for wear of the SSI FWTS, in accordance with AR 670 1, Paragraph 28 17. Originally,
for a Soldier to be authorized to wear a combat patch , the regulation required a minimum of
thirty days in the specified combat zone before approval of a combat patch could be authorized
for wear. Under the new guidance, this also has changed and states that there is now no time in
theater requirement to be authorized to wear the SSI FWTS. When a Soldier is initially assigned
or re assigned to a new unit, they are authorized and required to wear the patch specific to that
command on their left sleeve. Under the new guidance, when a Soldier is deployed to a designated
combat zone, those Soldiers are now authorized to wear the company level or higher patch that they
serve with on their right sleeves. One of the most prevalent changes is that the authorization of a
combat patch is no longer dictated by the Unit s Headquarters element deploying. It also no longer
matters how many times the Units alignment or Operational Control (OPCON) changes during the
deployment. When an element below Company level deploy, the Soldiers assigned to that element

Pros And Cons Of Human Biological Race
The question of whether human biological race exists has been a long debated, controversial topic
within the field of anthropology. There have been a number of obstacles that have prevented proper
research into this particular topic. For example, because of the potential social ramifications that
seem to accompany study into human biological variation, there has been hesitancy among
researchers in publishing material that could be interpreted as validation of racist ideologies.
Besides social considerations, another significant factor that has inhibited thorough research into
the topic is biotechnology, which has only recently become readily available and cost efficient.
Lastly, the mere definition of raceitself has caused difficulties in... Show more content on

This is not to say that genetic variation among populations is meaningless or insignificant, but it
does indicate that ideas surrounding biological race should be rethought as new information
presents itself. Because human variation cannot be neatly categorized into definite boundaries, the
question then becomes how should genetic difference be interpreted, if at all. In recent years,
researchers have begun to replace the word race with terms like clines or ecotypes. Unlike the
term race, which implies strict boundaries, clines is a character gradient that is continuous when
looked at through scopes like latitude or altitude (Pigliucci Kaplan, 2003). This definition is
preferred as it attributes a fluidity to genetic variation and can distribute individuals into a variety
of clines depending on the genetic trait being measured. In addition to clines, ecotypes have also
begun to gain popularity in contemporary human genetic research as well. Ecotypes can be defined
simply as local populations adapted to particular environments (Pigliucci Kaplan, 2003). The
concept of ecotypes aligns more so with traditional concepts of race, but with a few notable
exceptions. First, ecotypes allow for far more categorizations of human populations than the
traditional concept of race does. Furthermore, ecotypes take into consideration the genetic

The Effects Of Water On Natural Water Essay
Water is one of the most important resources that earth can offer. Indeed, water is essential to the
survival of all living things. Pure water must be colorless, tasteless and odorless. However,
sometimes, natural water can contain impurities. Indeed, dissolved solute coming minerals in rocks
and soils are often present in natural water.
The cations Mg2+and Ca2+ are the most common dissolved compounds found in natural water.
The presence of the dissolved Cations Ca2+ and Mg2+ (and other polyvalent cations) gives
natural waters chemical properties that are often evaluated as hardness.1 Water is hard when it
contains a high concentration of cations Ca2+ and Mg2+ and it is considered soft when it
contains a low concentration of cations Ca2+ and Mg2+. Water Hardness is often measured in
Concentrations in Molarity (M), parts per million (ppm/ mg per L) and grain per gallon (gpg).
The degree of hardness standard as established by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers
(S 339) and the Water Quality Association (WQA) is2:
Degree of Hardness
Grains per Gallon (gpg) ppm (or mg/L) Soft

It is very important to know and understand the hardness of water in order to limit the damages
hardness does and to improve the treatments for the problems of Hardness. Hard Watercan damage

The company s brand recognition is visible globally. It also possesses strong capital resources and
has exhibited positive results to its shareholders in the past.
In order to formulate suitable strategies for the company, I have practiced Prescriptive Corporate
Strategy. I also have used the TOWS matrix which helped produce some solid strategies for the
company such as to have eco friendly manufacturing for differentiation or to have expansions
strategies in India and China.
To conclude, I would like to say that CDL has immense opportunities and necessities for global
expansion considering their good financial position and high domestic competition. CDL has been
the market pioneer in number of its businesses in the past and should continue with the trend to stay
as a market leader.

The Roles Of Male And Women In The Victorian Era
In today s era both males and females being seen as equals is a widely accepted belief; however,
in the Victorian era this thought would be laugh at. In fact, men were viewed far more superior
to women. Where as, the men were put on a pedestal the women seemed to have little to no use.
Although, women only had a few tasks to accomplish in life, what she was tasked with was highly
expected of her. These were things such as do not be a burden, act as expected, marry well, and
have a son.
In the beginning, of a girls life if she had hope to live the average life span she would have to
beat the unruly high death rates for females. Despite the fact that all children, in any social classes,
were a mouth to be fed, they were still a potential source to help the family prosper. This however,
did not stop parents from malnourishing their daughters so their sons may live or giving far less
access to many essentials, such as clean bathing water. This lead to the daughters also being prone
to infections. If that or other accidents did not kill the girls; however, some time the families
would result to outright killing their own daughters. On the other hand if the girls lived through
their early years they would be groomed for something specific in life. It was more often than not
up to their parents to decide what they would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cleopatra s Reign As The Last Queen Of Egypt
Cleopatra VII was one of, if not the most powerful and famous women in ancient history. She
was a queen, a goddess, a skilled diplomat and a negotiator, who played a serious role in
reforming Egypt and how women were viewed in the ancient world. She was an incredibly clever
woman from a young age, becoming queen at the youthful age at eighteen. Cleopatra also made
huge contributions to politics in Egypt, through her skills in language and consequently of her
hundreds of followers and supporters. She was able to even entice some of the most important
people in history, such as Mark Antonyand Julius Caesar, and had relationships with other Roman
rulers such as Emperor Augustus. Her name was very well known in the ancient world as a
beautiful and skilled lady, and still is to this day. For these reasons, Cleopatra s reign as the last
queen of Egypt was unlike any other ruler of the ancient world, and her contributions and legacy
have left a lasting effect on the world, as we know it.
Cleopatra VII was the last ruler of the Ptolemaic dynasty, ruling Egypt from 51 BC 30 BC. She
was born in the Egyptian capital city of Alexandria in about 70 BCE, into the royal family that
had ruled Egypt for nearly 300 years. She was the daughter of King Ptolemy XII of Egypt.

Literary Analysis Of Romeo And Juliet
Formal Literary Analysis Romeo and Juliet To be wronged is nothing, unless you continue to
remember it. In Romeo and juliet by Shakespeare we see two households being torn apart by an
ancient grudge, but is almost resolved due to Romeo, a Montague and Juliet, a Capulet.
Shakespeare uses the destructive nature of holding grudges in Romeo and Juliet to further the plot
of the story, and and to also further character development. Shakespeare uses the destructive nature
of holding grudges in Romeo and Juliet to further the plot and character development. Early in the
play the reader sees that both the Capulets and the Montagues have an Ancient Grudge . this is
seen when Tybalt, of house capulet starts a fight with the Montagues. Tybalt says What, drawn,
and talk of peace? I hate the word, As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee. Have at thee, coward!
(1.5.60 62). Tybalt starts to put tension on the Montagues, speaking words of disrespect and slander.

Examples Of Innocence In The Wars By Timothy Findley
It is often said that loss of innocence is an essential part of the process of growing up. Usually, it
is a personal experience, happening at unique rates for every individual; however, time and time
again a case occurs where this change is experienced collectively. Timothy Findley s novel, The
Wars, tells the story of such an occurrence. The reader witnesses the horrors of the First World War
through the eyes of Robert Ross, a young man who enlists in the army to escape a troubled home
life. Along with several companions he meets during his tour of duty, Robert is subjected to a
sequence of events that cause them all to realize that the world is a much uglier place than they
had known it to be. Following his first kill in the trenches and... Show more content on

In doing so, he portrays loss of innocence through war by way of Rodwell s ordeal and eventual
suicide. However, it is important to note that the innocence lost is not only Rodwell s, but that
of other soldiers as well. In Part Three of The Wars, the narrator of the story notes that Some of
them were madmen. This was understandable, perhaps... Rodwell, being Rodwell, had tried to
stop them... Half an hour later, Rodwell wandered into No Man s Land and put a bullet through
his ears (Findley 135). Because of the war, these men have been damaged beyond repair and
reduced to a primal urge to kill, taking their instinct out on helpless animals. Rodwell, in his
innocence, tries to stop them, but, upon witnessing the senseless death of an animal at their hands,
is entirely disillusioned. The realization that men not only disrespect life, but actively eradicate it,
is too overwhelming it rips him from his idealistic views. Unable to cope, he goes against all he
believes in and, in committing suicide, destroys life himself. Thus, by causing humans to act
irrationally and out of instinct as a result of war, Findley again makes loss of innocence a huge
factor in its toll on humanity. Even though senseless cruelty is a recurring theme in war, Rodwell is
unable to come to terms with this. He goes from believing that [Humans] survive in each other.

Essay On Fanaticism In Genesis 22
Many biblical stories were passed down to communicate who God is and how finite beings can
have faith in something infinite. When biblical stories are taken out of context and interpreted
literally, one misses the deeper meaning and purpose of the stories. The story of the Binding of
Isaac in Genesis 22 reveals the balance between faith and doubt. The story must be read in context
and does not teach that parent should kill their children to send them to Jesus. This literal
interpretation contradicts what we know about God today and is known as fanaticism. A woman
from Montgomery tried stabbing her children thinking the world was ending and she was sending
them home. A Florida woman killed one child and attempted to kill another and herself... Show

The Montgomery news story, Pamela Christensen, attempted to kill her three daughters. Like
Lucas, she made a poisonous liquid to subdue her children, however, the children refused. The
mom stabbed two of her daughters and herself. The dynamic in Genesis 22 is significantly
different from the family dynamic in the news stories. This is a result of the cultural differences
and the issues of irrational behaviors in the two families. The differences in the story can be
explained by distinguishing faith from fanaticism. Faith relates to one s ultimate concern and it
promises total fulfillment (Tillich 1). The concern is infinite and valued at one s core. Ultimate
means that the concern is put above all other values and can require sacrifice. Good faith requires
existential doubt (Tillich 23). This doubt allows one to evaluate their reasoning for their faith
through questions, including those that do not have finite answers. This causes faith to be a risk
to one s whole being and courage can help to overcome the fear of failure (Tillich 19). This doubt
is not only an essential aspect of faith, but a natural human response to something that is out of our
finite control of reality. Fanaticism deals with taking faith out of context and taking it to an
extreme. Merriam Webster defines fanatic as being marked by excessive enthusiasm and often
intense, uncritical devotion ( Fanatic ). Cambridge Dictionary defines a fanatic as a person whose

Religion, Overpopulation And The Environment
In the Baraka there are powerful Images, these images have an impact on the audience as they
are watching the film. In the film Baraka there are symbolic messages that many people might
not see or catch within the film. There are quite a few topics in the film, but the top three that I
could see are religion, overpopulation and the environment. The religion part of the film is about
people around the world that pray and worship gods, they have faith in a higher power which
gives them purpose and belief that there is a reason for what happens as they live on earth.
Overpopulation is a huge part of the environment but, it s a whole separate topic on it s own
because it has become a huge hazard in the world today. The environment is a big part of everyone
s future and well being with an impact that can affect generations to come..
For religion in my opinion, everyone prays differently, some paint their bodies with body paint
/ground up plants and pigments to use for sacred meetings and ceremonies and others gather in a
church to pray and read about their religion. Religion in most cases gives people a higher
purpose, helps them to believe there is a plan a divine intervention of sorts. It guides them in
their life and how they lead it. In a sense keeps people happy. Although it can guide them in some
case towards some acts of violence if interpreted in certain ways. Religion can be made from just a
group of people to a whole continent, but mostly it is all around the world

The Cause Of The Ice Age
Title The Theory of the Cause of the Ice Age
Introduction
Background There are many possible reasons for why ice ages form. We aren t sure which are
correct. When there is a period of colder global temperatures and recurring glacial expansion, it s
called an ice age. Ice ages are capable of lasting hundreds of millions of years. There have been five
major that scientists have recorded: the Huronian, Cryogenian, Andean Saharan, Karoo, and
Quaternary.
Thesis Scientists have numerous predictions as to why ice ages happen, some of which are the
distance of the Earth from the sun, the position and height of the continents, and the fluctuations in
ocean currents.
First Subtopic Continental Positions
Topic Sentence Scientists believe that ice ages can be caused by the continents positions that blocks
the flow of warm water that comes from the equator.
The geological record appears to show that ice ages start when the continents are in positions
which block or reduce the flow of warm water from the equator to the poles and thus allow ice
sheets to form. (Raymo, Ruddiman, Froelich, 1988)
Important aspects which contributed to ancient climate regimes are the ocean currents, which are
modified by continent position as well as other factors. (Raymo, Ruddiman, Froelich, 1988)
The continents positions play a big role. Continents move over time because of the tectonic plates.
Pangaea split over time into the individual continents we have today. While Pangaea was splitting,

The Importance of the Sikh Turban and Muslim Hijab
The Importance of the Sikh Turban and Muslim Hijab We live in a world where conflicts
between religions have existed since the beginning of time. There are many issues worldwide
based on religious differences, such as the conflict between Israel and Iran which is based on
Judaism and Islam or the issue of India and Pakistan both possessing nuclear weapons over the
conflict between Hinduism and Islam. These issues exist in all religions, in all regions of the
world. People argue constantly about which religion is right, but they do not realize that there are
many similarities between religions. In fact, the only way there can be peace in the world is if
people focused on the similarities of their religions instead of the differences. A lot of religions in
the world have certain rituals, traditions and symbols in their faith of great significance. In Sikhism
and Islam, head coverings are very popular in their faith and are sometimes even necessary
depending on the branch of each religion. The Sikhturban and Muslim Hijab are both very
important in their faiths as seen through their history and establishment, significance and current
world issues surrounding head coverings. The turban is very important and Sikhism and the
tradition of wearing a turban in the Sikh religion started on Baisakhi Day in 1699. The Tenth
Master, Guru Gobind Singh gave the people the idea of wearing a turban, which is better known as
a dastar in the Sikh culture. During that time, only the

An embolic stroke happens when the clot develops away from the brain, perhaps in a limb, and
is then carried into the brain by the bloodstream. This type of clot when the moving clot then is

of stroke is labeled as a hemorrhagic stroke. Hemorrhagic strokes are caused by arteries in the
brain rupturing open or slowly leaking into the cranium. The rupture or leakage of blood then
puts pressure on the surrounding brain cells. There are two types of hemorrhagic strokes;
intracerebral which occurs when a blood vessel in the brain bursts and spills into surrounding
brain tissue damaging brain cells. Brain cells beyond the leak are deprived of blood are also
damaged. 2 The second type of hemorrhagic stroke is called a subarachnoid hemorrhage. With a
subarachnoid hemorrhage an artery on the surface of the brain bursts and spills blood between
the surface of the brain and the skull. This bleeding is often signaled by a sudden, severe
headache. 2 This type of stroke is usually caused by an aneurysm. The third type of stroke is
called a transient ischemic attack, or a mini stroke. With a transient ischemic attack, there is only
a temporary decrease is the blood flow to the brain, and thus is the least severe kind of stroke a
person can have. A TIA can be caused by a clot that usually resolves

  • 2. Roman Law During The Enlightenment Era Roman Law Justice has been misperceived to go hand and hand with rules in which a society must conform to, mostly in due part to the enlightenment era. In the case with the Romans, the laws they established, especially early on, dealing with the spread of Christianity has been interpreted with a sense of disgust for the unfair treatment targeted towards Christians, and later on to those of other faiths. However, I argue that, Roman law, when concerning religion, was used to strengthen the identity of what it meant to be Roman. Furthermore, as Rome, the political institution, was beginning to decay, as an act of acclamation, the formulation of Roman Laws allowed Christianity to be a main means of connection to what it meant to identify as Roman. Utilizing various primary sources, it is evident that faith had been gradually accepted as the dominant form of unity and law, beginning with Emperor Diocletian to Emperor Theodosia, even among emperors, the Catholic faith had shown that all men were under God, and under God they were all Roman. Roman law had first concerned itself with the spread of the Christian faith under the rule of Emperor Diocletian. Becoming the victor of a civil war, Diocletian had acquired the right to rule. Through his reign, it was evident that Diocletian had wanted to enforce his political strength, by imposing various methods to his empire, with varying degrees of success. Reorganizing the state by means of repairing infrastructure, creations of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Culture And Culture Of South Africa South African heritage and culture is immensely diverse, and consists of many different groups of people who each have their own traditions and beliefs. Having such a diversity of people and cultures is what makes South Africa so unique. In the true sense of the phrase, we are a rainbow nation. The Portuguese culture and heritage is one that is quite dense and easily found within the mix of all the other cultures in South Africa. South Africa has approximately three hundred thousand Portuguese people living in it. Making it the 7th on the list of countries with the most Portuguese people in it outside of Portugal. Portuguese is not only a culture, but it is also a language and a nationality. Portuguese people originate from the country of Portugal in Europe, however, due to Portugal (like many other countries in Europe) exploring the world and conquering other countries during the 15th 20th centuries, South Africa has what we call Portuguese South African s living in it. Portuguese is different, because it originates from Europe, the food has a Mediterranean influence, the clothing is more vivid and bright, the music is different, the language is different, and unlike many of the other heritages in South Africa, Portuguese doesn t have that much of a long running history within the country. In order to fully understand some of the differences, one can make a comparison of Portuguese to that of the San. • 7. Case Study Of Steven M. Labrie s Vacation For Attorneys RESPONDENT TEAMSTERS LOCAL 251 OBJECTION TO PETITION FOR ATTORNEYS FEES This matter is before the Court on a Petition Steven M. Labrie for attorney s fees associated with his appeal from a decision from the Department of Labor and Training [ DLT ]. For the reasons set forth below, Labrie is not entitled to attorney s fees for services rendered on appeal. Alternatively, in the event that attorney s fees are allowable, they are within the jurisdiction of the Director of the Department of Labor and Training rather than the Superior Court. 1.On October 1, 2015, the DLT determined that Labrie was entitled to vacation pay for 2013, but not for vacation pay for 2008 through 2012. Labrie appealed pursuant to G.L. В§42 35 15, the Administrative Procedures Act. 2.On January 12, 2017, this Court reversed pertinent portions of the DLT decision. 3.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Labrie s reliance on G.L. В§28 14 19(c) for an award of further attorney s fees is without merit. That section specifically provides that the DLT director may direct payment of reasonable attorney s fees and costs to the complaining party. Thus, an award of attorney s fees is discretionary within the jurisdiction of the DLT, rather than this court. 4.The Administrative Procedures Act, G.L. В§42 35 15, on which Labrie relied on in connection with his appeal, contains no provision for an award of attorney s fees to a prevailing party. In addition, Rhode Island follows the American rule which bars an award of attorney s fees in the absence of statutory authority. As the Supreme court noted in Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island v. Najarian, attorney s fees may not be appropriately awarded to the prevailing party absent contractual or statutory authorization. 911 A.2nd 706, 710 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes eating disordered people do not even realize what negative things they are doing to their body. Sometimes weight loss can turn into an addiction. An eating disorder is defined as a pathological obsession with getting and staying thin . Regardless of size, sex, or race there is some form of media, or peer pressure that influence people s thinking. This pressure is not of a physical nature. It all deals with one s mental state. Images of an ideal body is ingrained into the mind starting at a young age. Thinner and thicker people both can develop eating disorders from a thin ideal. Often the disorders that are associated with thinner people are disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. These disorders do not let the body consume or digest food. • 9. Gender Roles In Mulan We all grew up watching the Disney princesses on screen being rescued by her Prince Charming or Knight in shining armor. However, not all Disney movies were about a princess being rescued. There was one where she did the rescuing . Mulan came out on June 5, 1998. Mulan best shows a character breaking out of the standard genderroles of society; therefore, Mulan shows that great things happen when we step out of the gender roles society has created. Mulan is a movie that takes place during 6th century China when the Mongolian Huns invaded China by crossing the Great wall and started a war that lasted twelve years. The movie starts when the Hans first attacking and crossing the Great Wall. The emperor is warned about the attack. He calls for one man from each family to serve the army saying A single grain of rice can tip the scale. One man may be the difference between victory and defeat. • 10. Analysis Of The Movie Kane Monroe KANE MONROE presents with a very intriguing blend of story types. It blends an old fashion western revenge story with fantasy and action. The goal is clear and the stakes are high. It s a story that easily engages. The audience effortlessly roots for Kane Monroe. The setting feels authentic to the time period and to the culture. The characters are likable and seem to be castable, especially Kane. The action sequences are nicely crafted. The script offers a three act structure. The first act establishes that Kane has visions of past lives, but in all his lives he encounters one villain. The inciting event is when he sees a wanted poster that looks like his nemesis. He leaves home on a determined quest that propels the story forward. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps it s because there isn t one consistent backstory regarding William that the audience can follow. If the past lives element is important, the story might work more appropriately if the fantasy element were more developed and one could fully understand the love story and the rival between William and Luther. Instead of the idea that Kane has lived multiple past lives, perhaps consider the idea that he has just lived one. In fact, the script doesn t really show his other lives in detail. There s a vision of being a Japanese Samurai, but it s very short lived and no real story is developed and Luther/Moss isn t in that fantasy. Thus, the rules of the world need to be clarified. The audience is told he lives other lives, but with one consistent nemesis, but the story doesn t follow through on this. The other alternative is to just create an old fashioned western revenge story, but to make it more unique by having Kane trained in the art of martial arts and sword fighting (similar to Kung Fu TV series). There are features of the script not well understood and would benefit from more development. The sequences involving Lillian are a bit confusing. Is she working with Moss? Why were the bandits after Kane? What might not be clear is if Moss has ordered his men to find Kane and/or when Moss realizes Kane is on his trail. This should be clarified. The other area of the script that becomes perplexing is Traveling Bear and Running Flower. When they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Spanish And Mexican Period 1. The story line I am going to talk about is power and oppression, throughout California s history there has been many events of power and oppression that has shaped California s history in many ways. I selected this storyline because I am able to relate many of these events that have happened throughout history. I will described the Spanish and Mexican period, the Americanization period, the early 20th century, and the late 20th century to today. First I will begin with the Spanish and Mexican period 1776 1846, during these period we could see that there was a lot of power and oppression that started with the Spanish conquest to expand their colonization. The spanish brought with them christianity trying to convert Native Americans to become that same religion, the spanish developed a series of presidios, missions, and pueblos in the lands of Native Americans where they were forced to change their religion, customs, and culture to become part of the Spanish. Many Native Americans were killed by the Spanish soldiers when they would decline to change their way of living. The Spanish practice oppression trying to convert this people into christianity this is an example of the power and oppression the spanish used during these period of time. Within this essay I will be addressing the topic of the existence of God, I will examine proofs such as the Ontological Argument and Cosmological Argument. In doing so testing its advantages while also providing contradictory arguments as posed by philosophers such as Kant and Hume. The first ontological argument for the proof of Gods existence was posed by St.Anselm of Canterbury (1033 1109 C.E), he reasons the existence of God from the idea of a being than which no greater can be conceived . This argument basis itself on the idea that everything in existence has a cause to it s existence, Stephen Law gives the example that our parents are our direct cause. In today s modern age, when most people hear that word, they cringe and think of ugly, hairy women ejecting hatred towards men, women that think they are subordinate and higher than every man out there, and women that desire nothing more than to emasculate the opposite sex. If they took the time to educate themselves, they could learn that feminismand misandry are two very different words. As Oxford dictionary describes it, Misandry is a hatred of men while Feminism is the equality of the sexes. With phrases like Women s turn to dominate! and All men are pigs! I can understand why some people think that misandry equates to feminism. To encourage dialogue between men and women in addressing these issues, there must be an end in viewing feminists as misandrists. Instead of empowering all genders, it puts them down. The misconception about feminism comes from a lack of understanding what feminists goals are. The main goal being gender equality. To achieve economic and social equality, we must acknowledge the three reasons why it is still relevant today; gender roles, the wage gap, and rape culture. The boys savage and immoral behavior in Lord of the Flies should be blamed on nurture because no adult authority figures were present to enforce rules and the boys don t know how to cooperate well. Lastly, the following paper will also demonstrate what Engels believes is the outcome of capitalism. In Engel s excerpt on Theoretical , Engel begins by describing historical materialismas a principle of production and exchange of products, which is the basis of every social order (Engels 293). Historical materialism analyzes the material conditions of society, how people produce and exchange items (Johnston). It is the way in which society is producing and exchanging goods that creates social relations as well as hierarchy (Johnston). Furthermore, the mode of production conditions social relations and one s consciousness. The way an individual perceives the world ultimately arises from our social and economic structures (Johnston). Society is further divided into social classes which is determined by what is produced, how it is produced, and how the product is exchanged (Johnston). The fundamental contradiction in capitalism as laid out by Engels is social production and individual appropriation. The fundamental contradiction is the idea that the capitalist appropriates the products that the working class create. The modern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Proper Wear of Shoulder Sleeve Insignia Former Wartime... The original intent behind the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia Former Wartime Service (SSI FWTS), more commonly referred to as a Combat Patch, was to show appreciation for an individual soldier s support in combat operations. It was also, originally, applicable only to soldiers who were assigned or serving with larger deployed echelons such as brigades, divisions, corps, Army commands or higher. The Army Regulation (AR) covering the Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia is 670 1. In addition, the policy change and guidance is applicable to Soldiers of all components that deploy during periods of service designated for wear of the SSI FWTS, in accordance with AR 670 1, Paragraph 28 17. Originally, for a Soldier to be authorized to wear a combat patch , the regulation required a minimum of thirty days in the specified combat zone before approval of a combat patch could be authorized for wear. Under the new guidance, this also has changed and states that there is now no time in theater requirement to be authorized to wear the SSI FWTS. When a Soldier is initially assigned or re assigned to a new unit, they are authorized and required to wear the patch specific to that command on their left sleeve. Under the new guidance, when a Soldier is deployed to a designated combat zone, those Soldiers are now authorized to wear the company level or higher patch that they serve with on their right sleeves. One of the most prevalent changes is that the authorization of a combat patch is no longer dictated by the Unit s Headquarters element deploying. It also no longer matters how many times the Units alignment or Operational Control (OPCON) changes during the deployment. There have been a number of obstacles that have prevented proper research into this particular topic. For example, because of the potential social ramifications that seem to accompany study into human biological variation, there has been hesitancy among researchers in publishing material that could be interpreted as validation of racist ideologies. This is not to say that genetic variation among populations is meaningless or insignificant, but it does indicate that ideas surrounding biological race should be rethought as new information presents itself. Because human variation cannot be neatly categorized into definite boundaries, the question then becomes how should genetic difference be interpreted, if at all. In recent years, researchers have begun to replace the word race with terms like clines or ecotypes. Unlike the term race, which implies strict boundaries, clines is a character gradient that is continuous when looked at through scopes like latitude or altitude (Pigliucci Kaplan, 2003). This definition is preferred as it attributes a fluidity to genetic variation and can distribute individuals into a variety of clines depending on the genetic trait being measured. In addition to clines, ecotypes have also begun to gain popularity in contemporary human genetic research as well. Ecotypes can be defined simply as local populations adapted to particular environments (Pigliucci Kaplan, 2003). The concept of ecotypes aligns more so with traditional concepts of race, but with a few notable exceptions. First, ecotypes allow for far more categorizations of human populations than the traditional concept of race does. Furthermore, ecotypes take into consideration the genetic ... Pure water must be colorless, tasteless and odorless. However, sometimes, natural water can contain impurities. Indeed, dissolved solute coming minerals in rocks and soils are often present in natural water. The cations Mg2+and Ca2+ are the most common dissolved compounds found in natural water. The presence of the dissolved Cations Ca2+ and Mg2+ (and other polyvalent cations) gives natural waters chemical properties that are often evaluated as hardness.1 Water is hard when it contains a high concentration of cations Ca2+ and Mg2+ and it is considered soft when it contains a low concentration of cations Ca2+ and Mg2+. Water Hardness is often measured in Concentrations in Molarity (M), parts per million (ppm/ mg per L) and grain per gallon (gpg). • 46. Essay On Fanaticism In Genesis 22 Many biblical stories were passed down to communicate who God is and how finite beings can have faith in something infinite. When biblical stories are taken out of context and interpreted literally, one misses the deeper meaning and purpose of the stories. The story of the Binding of Isaac in Genesis 22 reveals the balance between faith and doubt. The story must be read in context and does not teach that parent should kill their children to send them to Jesus. This literal interpretation contradicts what we know about God today and is known as fanaticism. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Montgomery news story, Pamela Christensen, attempted to kill her three daughters. Like Lucas, she made a poisonous liquid to subdue her children, however, the children refused. The mom stabbed two of her daughters and herself. The dynamic in Genesis 22 is significantly different from the family dynamic in the news stories. This is a result of the cultural differences and the issues of irrational behaviors in the two families. The differences in the story can be explained by distinguishing faith from fanaticism. Faith relates to one s ultimate concern and it promises total fulfillment (Tillich 1). The concern is infinite and valued at one s core. Ultimate means that the concern is put above all other values and can require sacrifice. Good faith requires existential doubt (Tillich 23). This doubt allows one to evaluate their reasoning for their faith through questions, including those that do not have finite answers. This causes faith to be a risk to one s whole being and courage can help to overcome the fear of failure (Tillich 19). This doubt is not only an essential aspect of faith, but a natural human response to something that is out of our finite control of reality. Fanaticism deals with taking faith out of context and taking it to an extreme. Merriam Webster defines fanatic as being marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense, uncritical devotion ( Fanatic ). Cambridge Dictionary defines a fanatic as a person whose strong ... In the film Baraka there are symbolic messages that many people might not see or catch within the film. There are quite a few topics in the film, but the top three that I could see are religion, overpopulation and the environment. The religion part of the film is about people around the world that pray and worship gods, they have faith in a higher power which gives them purpose and belief that there is a reason for what happens as they live on earth. Overpopulation is a huge part of the environment but, it s a whole separate topic on it s own because it has become a huge hazard in the world today. For religion in my opinion, everyone prays differently, some paint their bodies with body paint /ground up plants and pigments to use for sacred meetings and ceremonies and others gather in a church to pray and read about their religion. Religion in most cases gives people a higher purpose, helps them to believe there is a plan a divine intervention of sorts. It guides them in their life and how they lead it. When there is a period of colder global temperatures and recurring glacial expansion, it s called an ice age. Ice ages are capable of lasting hundreds of millions of years. There have been five major that scientists have recorded: the Huronian, Cryogenian, Andean Saharan, Karoo, and Quaternary. Thesis Scientists have numerous predictions as to why ice ages happen, some of which are the distance of the Earth from the sun, the position and height of the continents, and the fluctuations in ocean currents. First Subtopic Continental Positions Topic Sentence Scientists believe that ice ages can be caused by the continents positions that blocks the flow of warm water that comes from the equator. The geological record appears to show that ice ages start when the continents are in positions which block or reduce the flow of warm water from the equator to the poles and thus allow ice sheets to form. (Raymo, Ruddiman, Froelich, 1988) Important aspects which contributed to ancient climate regimes are the ocean currents, which are modified by continent position as well as other factors. Hemorrhagic strokes are caused by arteries in the brain rupturing open or slowly leaking into the cranium. The rupture or leakage of blood then puts pressure on the surrounding brain cells. There are two types of hemorrhagic strokes; intracerebral which occurs when a blood vessel in the brain bursts and spills into surrounding brain tissue damaging brain cells. • 52. Alternative Ending to Mockingjay Essay Gale must be near, I can hear his heart pounding. I just hope that I am not being recorded by the security cameras, because if I am, my life has already been condemned to die within a few minutes. No one knows that I am here, except for Cinna. The second my right foot steps inside the room, I notice that Gale is either unconscious or dead laying on the floor, not moving, with blood all over his face, and his upper body being supported by a bright and white desk. As I quickly walk towards him, I acknowledge blood fingerprints all over the desk. As if someone injured had been trying to get something from the desk. Gale! I run towards him What have they done to you? I cry. His response is dull, I just hope he s not dead. With the little strength that s left of me, I make an effort to make his feet touch the ground and I give him a kiss on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
