Sedimentary rocks are formed from the compaction and cementation of sediments like grains of sand, clay, and minerals. There are several types of sedimentary rocks including sandstone, made from quartz and feldspar grains; shale, made from compacted clay; limestone, made from minerals in evaporated seas; and conglomerate, made up of cemented sand and pebbles.
