2. Recent green policy developments
Green decision-making
- Nomination of relevant specialists from line Ministries who will later participate in the process of
developing green economy strategy
- An agreement with project partners has been reached to provide support in developing a concept
and vision for Green Economy
- Development and implementation of policy aimed at fostering Green Economy and Sustainable
Development as a long-term goal has beenincluded in the Government Program as a priority
activity.
Green recovery
- The government’s fifteenth crisis-mitigation program: generate new green jobs by giving citizens
the opportunity to participate in tree planting and fencing work. Total cost of the program was
about 200 mln AMD. The program is estimated to create minimum 1000 seasonal jobs. As of 1
June, almost 2 mln seedlings have already been planted. Based on the successful results of the
pilot, the German Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ) provided additional
support for the 2nd phase of implementation of this pilot project.

3. Highlight of the Achievements
• Circular economy and green growth opportunities – DRS system (and more)
• The process of developing methodology on Strategic Environmental Assessment
is in the final phase
• “The 4 Micro Regional Combined Spatial Planning Documents for Aragatsotn” is
submitted as a pilot for SEA
• Coaching Program on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP)
methodology to national experts is under implementation
• A workshop on Energy Management as a part of the specialized RECP training
was conducted

4. Moving Forward
• Looking forward to the selection of National Coordinator – to improve efficiency
and coordination of the project and creation of project board (or alternative
overseeing mechanism)
• Looking forward to hiring local talent (where possible) for various project
components
• Looking forward to the update on the launch of Result 4 – Emerald Sites are of high
priority for Armenia
• Looking forward to explore the opportunities for post-Covid 19 Green recovery
(particularly on creating green jobs and shock-resistant sustainable economic
systems) withing the scope of the project and beyond
