OHRECA Objectives
To significantly enhance human, animal and ecosystem health by:
• Continuing research for development through One Health approach
• Strengthening capacity in One Health,
• Supporting One Health network initiatives, and,
• Developing pathways from evidence to policy and practice.
Contributions of One Health to SDG framework
 Ending poverty and other deprivations goes hand in
hand with improvements on health, education,
reduce inequities and boosts economic growth
 One Health contributes to:
o SDGs 1, 2, 3, 12, 17 (no poverty, zero hunger,
good health and well-being, responsible
consumption and production, partnerships)
o SDGs 5, 6, 10, 15 (gender equality, water and
sanitation, reduced inequality, life on land)
Linkages between SDG and One Health frameworks
SDG Selected targets Examples of One Health initiatives
No poverty • Pro-poor policy frameworks
• Equal rights to economic resources
• Access to technology/services
• Action for animal health -- generate
income, cut losses, protect assets
Zero hunger • Access to safe, nutrititous and sufficient food
• End all forms of malnutrtion
• Sustainable production of food
• Food safety along value chains
• Policies and strategies to reduce
hunger and malnutrition
Good health and
wellbeing
• Capacity for early warning, risk reduction and
management of national and global risks
• Substantially reduce deaths from hazardous
chemicals, air, water and soil pollution and
contamination
• Vaccines and medicines
• Health workforce
• Knowledge, tools and policies for
risk forecasting and management
• Human, animal and environment
health – zoonoses and AMR
• Capacity development – One Health
workforce development
SDG Selected targets Examples of One Health initiatives
Responsible
consumption and
production
• Sustainable management and use of resources
• Reduce food waste and food losses along
production – supply chains
• Policy frameworks on ecosystem
services and trade-offs
Partnerships for the
goals
• Enhance north-south, south-south
collaborations to enhance knowledge,
innovations and access to technology
• Multistakeholder partnerships for technology,
knowledge, and resources, etc
• Mobilize additional financial resources for
developing countries
• One Health partnerships and
networks e.g. Learning lab at
the Agriculture for Nutrition and
Health Conference
Gender equality • Strengthen policies for promotion of gender
quality
• Eliminate harmful practices
• Gender-responsive
interventions in agriculture

• WASH programs
• Aquaculture and AMR

Objective of the report:
• Show through facts, evidence and cases where
and how more and better investment will deliver
'one' health outcomes for animals, people,
ecosystems
• Value proposition: Highlight evidence-based
solutions from ILRI and research-development
angle with a focus on livestock.
One Health investment report briefs
• Briefs capture 7 key messages and more than 20
practical action areas governments, development
partners and experts in One Health can invest in
for better health and improved food systems.
