Talavera
1. Read Class Notes and trace the history of Mexican ceramics, through style. Materials, purpose and
technique.
The rich Mexican ceramics legacy was acquainted with Mexico by Spanish organization craftsmen
and artists of the Colonial time frame. Usually called majolica in Spain, Mexican Talavera draws its
name from the sixteenth century Spanish ceramics focus, Talavera de la Reina. While the multifaceted
polychrome and more run of the mill blue and white outlines demonstrate their Old World inheritance,
local flower and creature themes assert these vivid earthenware productions as traditionally Mexican.
The most widely recognized earthenware production procedures of that period were looping and
squeezing. Pieces terminated in block ovens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most prominent and famous pottery made in Mexico is Talavera pottery. Talavera is a high quality
decorative earthenware pottery style that is recognized by its strong colors and detailed patterns
creating traditional Mexican and more contemporary designs. The cultural trait of using bold mixtures
of vivid colours in art and fabrics was also prevalent in the rich variety of colours used in traditional
Mexican pottery decoration. Mexican pottery was made by coiling the clay into consecutive circles up
the sides, followed by scraping and molding the coiled work until the coils could no longer be
detected. The Mexican wares were not glazed, but rather burnished and painted with coloured fine
clay slips. The Spanish introduced the potters wheel and new glazing techniques, including Majolica.
The colorful Majolica suited the Mexican aesthetic and the Talavera pottery is renowned for its variety
of Majolica and its mixture of different cultural influences. There was also a predominance of curved
lines and intricate detail. This mixture of styles was adopted by the local folk art pottery scene with
most potters working in family workshops, and everyone participating in the process. Talavera is a
particular method of pottery which involves two firings first with a tin glaze and then lead (see further
information). The brightly painted designs are applied between the two firings. Talavera is named after
a town in Spain. This clay is then kneaded and the pieces are shaped on a potter s wheel or in a mold
and left to dry. The pieces are fired at 850°C and become hard and terracotta coloured. More colour is
applied in traditional designs. The design is transferred to the ceramic using carbon on a paper stencil.
The resulting dot pattern is then used as a guide for the hand painted bright colours. The decorated
piece is fired again to produce

Analysis Of Gwen Harwood s Anthology Of Selected Poems
The notion that ordinary, everyday experiences encompass universal emotions of both sadness and
delight is central to Gwen Harwood s anthology of Selected Poems. This Australian poet often uses
her personal journey towards self knowledge and experience of growing up to comment on universal
aspects of raw, uncensored life experiences. She aims to convey the idea that motherhood is a difficult
experience for many women who resent the way they are forced to abandon their individuality and
careers. Harwood also illustrates the sadness in the loss of innocence and regrets in childhood.
However, she also reminds the audience of the importance of celebrating the richness and vitality of
human life such as the importance and power of women and parenthood. Ultimately the collection
also suggests that aspects of both sadness and delight are evident in every human experience.
Harwood s works challenge the patriarchal, societal view of motherhood as a role of delight, joy and
fulfillment, revealing the hollow façade of meaningless that often comes with domestic suburban
roles. She explores the role of women in her contemporary Australian society, criticising and
challenging the expectations that women must be restricted to the domestic sphere in this patriarchal
society. Harwood s graphic description and evocative imagery conveys the hopelessness of many
women. Home of Mercy explores how females are dehumanized as the pregnant, unmarried girls have
sinned in the eyes of society and

Clara Barton Portrait Research Paper
1. Clara Barton Portrait
Clara Barton was a Union nurse who assisted soldiers, usually on the front lines, unlike most nurses at
many battles of the Civil War, including Antietam where she was referred to as the angel of the
battlefield . Clara also helped found the Red Cross and helped identify dead bodies at the
Andersonville prison. Clara helped by bringing supplies and tending to wounded or dying soldiers,
sometimes moving them to avoid a battle to come.

Realities Redefined in William Gibson s Neuromancer Essay
Realities Redefined in William Gibson s Neuromancer
The ways in which characters communicate and interact with one another are redefined in William
Gibson?s Neuromancer. An all encompassing web of intrigue, the Net enables humans and non
humans to access and to communicate an infinite amount of data across time and space. Medical
implants open another door on virtual communications. Non living entities such as artificial
intelligences and the Dixie Flatline construct overcome the physical barriers of communication. With
the implementation of these new communications technologies, the physical and virtual realities of the
society waver and meld into one another, resulting in an alienating cyber culture where this new

Like many others who treats cyberspace as their reality, Case is mostly solitary. He derives his
adrenaline rush from stealing data in cyberspace, but he rarely senses emotions from other stimuli. For
Case, making love with Linda Lee and with Molly cannot be compared with his love affair with the
world of non flesh. As Molly says to Case: ?I saw you stroking that Sendai; man, it was pornographic?
(47).
When his former employers damage his nervous system with mycotoxin, Case is abruptly cut off from
his sensuous love affair with the matrix. For him, it is the Fall (6). Case loses everything that he thinks
is important to him, and he attempts to commit suicide. Even his love for Linda cannot help him
overcome his depression. After all, physical and emotional love is not the same as being in love with
something less tangible, for perhaps it is the intangibleness of the Net that enthrals Case. The
cyberspace cowboys have an elite stance towards the physical world, a ?certain relaxed contempt for
the flesh. The body was meat?(6). Meat deteriorates, but cyberspace lives on forever. In Case?s
situation, it is apparent that it is the ?meat? of one?s physical body that can obstruct one from
accessing the greater reality of cyberspace. This virtual reality, however, also impedes Case from fully
living his physical life, but he does not completely acknowledge this even after his encounter with the

William Edward Burghardt Du Bois Essay
William Edward Burghardt Du Bois, born in 1868, was a scholar, activist, and philosopher, born into
the era of Reconstruction and lynching. Though he accomplished much in his life, Du Bois is largely
known for helping found the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)
and writing one of the most prominent works in American critical race theory, The Souls of Black
Folk. Du Bois made it his life s work to contest racism through self assertion, humanize black people
across the globe, and find a way to integrate black society and white American society. Much of his
rhetoric focused on double consciousness and the veil, separate but closely related concepts that Du
Bois used to describe the experience of Americans, both black and white. While Du Bois passed away
a mere day before the March on Washington in 1963, his rhetoric remains vital to anti racist
philosophy; for today, Americans live in an age of colorblind racism. It is a commonly held amongst
white Americans belief that all Americans are treated equally and fairly, often citing the civil rights
movements of the 1960 s in which the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Civil Rights Act of 1968
came to be. However, as of 2016, 42% of black Americans are dissatisfied in regards to how they are
treated, while a mere 15% of white Americans are dissatisfied with the treatment of black Americans.1
Much of Du Bois rhetoric focused on education; more specifically, how to use the role of institutions,

Analysis Of The Poem The World Is Too Much With Us
The poem, The World Is Too Much with Us by William Wordsworth argues that people s disregard for
nature s importance makes them lose their humanity. Wordsworth sees materialism as a waste of our
powers (359). Our powers of being able to keep in touch with a fundamental part of themselves. To
preserve and see the beauty of nature. Instead of building upon it. The start of the Industrialization in
Britain brought factories, buildings, and a newly built world. This shifted the focus from living from
nature to living away from it. Wordsworth explains it as, getting and spending, we lay waste our
powers: little we see in nature that is ours (359). Nature has become a separate existence from the one
that had been created by industrialization. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which quickly spread and became all consuming. The social changes that were taking place brought a
new attitude. Gone was the slow moving life of rural living replaced by urban living. Urbanization
gave an urgency to the people. An attitude of greed for more growth, production, and spending. It
made many jobs, but it also left many unemployed. This was due to hiring unskilled workers for cheap
and leaving skilled workers still searching for jobs. Leaving many lower class people unsatisfied and
living in an increasingly dismal conditions. These negative changes left Wordsworth dispirited. He
understood the importance of enjoying the outside world away from these dismal conditions. To enjoy
views such as the sea that bares her bosom to the moon or the winds that will be howling at all hours .
Views that give peace and comfort. Away from the growing materialistic attitude of Britain society.
This newly embraced capitalist mode of production, which flourished under a rhetoric of improvement
(27), gave more trouble than improvement. Starting from the factories, the attitude of instant
gratification spread to the citizens. Needs and wants were met easily when the money was there. The
joys of going outside were to purchase a new item or to see how much the city had

The Natural Gas Price Of Gas
There are various reasons that prediction of natural gas price is imperative to producers, suppliers,
traders, market makers, and bankers involved in natural gas exploration, production, transportation
and trading as well as consumers involved in utilization of natural gas (Mishra, 2012). The prices of
energy commodity including natural gas price are very volatile that make the parties engaged in a high
risk and uncertain activities. More accurate forecast of the price, help them to select an appropriate
strategy to lower the uncertainty and hedge the risk. This research attempt to find the best way to
model and forecast natural gas price among different approaches and choose the optimum practice to
use.
The natural gas price is also important in evaluation of gas reserves (Caldwell Heather, 1996). The
price of gas has huge effect on the value of the reserves which is a massive part of Gas Company s
assets. Fluctuation in gas price make an oscillation in company s value that increase the investment
risk which results a decrease in company s stock price.
1.1. What is Natural Gas
Natural gas (also called marsh or swamp gas in older texts and more recently Landfill gas) is a
combustible mixture of gaseous hydrocarbons consisting of methane as a major component and
heavier hydrocarbons including ethane, propane, butanes, and very small amount of pentanes or
heavier components (Speight, 2007). The natural gas mixture also includes the unsaturated
hydrocarbons such as

Quarterback Analysis
Let me preface this editorial by saying that this is by far the longest position preview of this series.
Quarterback is by far the deepest position group in fantasy football, and you only draft one or two of
them, so hitting on a consistent producer who can deliver high point totals is crucial for your fantasy
title hopes. I would feel comfortable with starting, or having on my team, most of the quarterbacks
that inhabit the first four tiers below. That said, if I pass on the top guys, which is likely, I ll most
likely draft two QB s that I think can be good and platoon them until one emerges as the guy. This
could be a strategy you could use in most formats, unless your league s scoring favors quarterbacks or
you re in a two quarterback league. If you re in a standard league, I would recommend waiting to
select a quarterback until later in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They re widely ranked next to each other in various preseason quarterback rankings, and since some
idiot in your league picked Blake Bortles in front of them, you ll likely have the luxury of being one of
the later drafters to take a quarterback, meaning you can take one of them while also making the rest
of your roster title worthy. Whether they are up, down or tied, both Manning and Rivers have coaching
staffs that love to throw the ball They throw all day everyday. Rivers has proven he can perform at an
elite level with a patchwork combination of weapons and a terrible offensive line. Last year, with a
terrible line, an infirmary at wide receiver and Danny Woodhead, Rivers balled out. Manning plays the
Eagles, Redskins and Cowboys twice, none of which are expected to be elite or even average on
defense, which is where I give him the edge over Rivers. Rivers twice has to go against the top two
fantasy defenses from last year, the Broncos and Chiefs, while also playing a Raiders team that is
expected to be in the top half of the league on that side of the

The Multi Layered Nature Of Synesthesia

orange foam, about four feet away, directly in front of me. this sublime description by Day, a professor
at National Central University in Taiwan describes his neurological condition called synesthesia.1
Synesthesia is a neurological condition in which the stimulation of one sense is automatically
accompanied by a second sense. There are many different types of synesthesia ranging from grapheme
color synesthesia, associating letter and numbers with colors, to spatial sequence synesthesia,
associating numerical sequences to points in space. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Simner). Next came the first mention of synesthesia in scientific literature, Sir Francis Galton
published a paper about synesthesia in the journal Nature in 1880.( Guillochon, May,). Soon after this
publication a Swiss medical student named Eugen Bleuler and Karl Lehmann collected data on 76
synesthesia patients and compiled a book that now is considered a milestone in the history of
synesthesia. (Simner). As a whole the scientific community delved into the study of synesthesia in the
late 19th century and the early 20th century, but in the mid 20th century research subsided until the
1970s when the study of synesthesia was revived. (Carpenter). Synesthesia history was one of self
discovery and new studies and data about the condition.
The exact cause of synesthesia although not discovered; at the moment the cause can best be
explained by the hypothesis of serotonergic factors. Scientists do in fact though classify three
categories of how one acquired synesthesia. (Brogaard ). The three categories as follows are
developmental synesthesia, acquired synesthesia, and drug induced synesthesia. (Brogaard).
Developmental synesthesia is the most common type; it is the form of the condition that has continued
since birth or early childhood and is most common in people with autism spectrum disorders.
(Brogaard, Safran, ). Acquired synesthesia is a form of the condition which synesthesia appears after a

Lady Macbeth Is Evil
We all have regrets. Sometimes, there is a certain someone that lead us to this bad decision. In William
Shakespeare s, Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, wife of noble warrior Macbeth, has indirectly influenced
nearly every cruel decision made thus far in the story. Whether it is killing a beloved king, or framing
an innocent person for the bloody crime, Lady Macbeth is behind everything. Lady Macbeth is a
ruthless and manipulative woman because she pressures her loved ones to commit horrible crimes,
betrays those who have been nothing but kind to her, and does not care who she ruins, as long as she
reaches her goal. Lady Macbeth is a monster because she practically forced spouse, a man she is
supposed to love, to kill one of his friends and idols. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along killing a generous man and forcing her husband to commit a violent crime, she is also willing to
ruin the lives of countless other innocent people. Throughout the entire assassination plot she wanted
to pin the murder on two guards. First, she got both guards so drunk that they would pass out and
Macbeth would be able to slip into Duncan s room without being noticed. Then, she stole their
daggers so they could be used as the murder weapon. Finally, she wanted to wipe Duncan s blood on
the guards and ends up killing them. When Macbeth returns from Duncan s chamber with the two
bloody daggers, Lady Macbeth says, Infirm of purpose! Give me the daggers. The sleeping and the
dead are but as pictures. Tis the eye of childhood that fears a painted devil. If he do bleed, I ll gild the
faces of the grooms withal, for it must seem their guilt (2.2.68 73). This quote depicts Lady Macbeth
as being cruel and insensitive. She is going to cover the faces of the unconscious guards with Duncan
s blood, which will make them look very guilty. Lady Macbeth is also more than willing to kill
innocent people just for Duncan s position of power. After she left MAcbeth to go frame the two
guards, she ended up killing them, making Macbeth tell Malcolm that he killed the two guards after

Representation Of Male And Females
There are typical representations for both males and females. Usually the well known representation
of a male is to be strong, manly and brave. The typical representation of a female is to be loving,
innocent and a mother. This is what each gender s representation usually was back then. Nowadays,
the representation of each males and females has changed. More and more males are taking on the
jobs of women as in being the one to take care of and spend the most time with the kids. This happens
because more and more women are becoming very independent and making careers for themselves.

bit more money than the female employee of the state. a majority of women do not like the idea and

The Role Of Chemical Reactions And Electricity And Centers...
Electrochemistry, a branch of physical chemistry, is the study of the relationship between chemical
reactions and electricity and centers upon the interrelation of chemical energy and electrical energy.
Contributing to such crucial technological developments as the invention of batteries and fuel cells,
corrosion protection and the study of metallurgy, electrochemistry is credited with a great deal of real
life applications and has had widespread impact on mankind. One of the most common and
fundamental applications of electrochemistry is producing an electric current from a spontaneous
redox reaction through the help of a device called the electrochemical cell. For example, if zinc metal
is dropped into an aqueous solution of copper ion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The electrode placed with the reducing agent is called anode, while the one placed with the oxidizing
agent is called cathode. In this case, a strip of zinc metal should be placed in a solution of zinc nitrate
and a strip of copper metal should be placed with copper nitrate. As the anode frees electrons where
oxidation takes place, the electrons enter an electricity conducting wire and travel to the cathode
where reduction takes place, thereby creating electrical energy. In the meantime of this process, a
positive charge and a negative charge accumulate in the oxidation and reduction vessel respectively,
due to the transfer of electrons. Since electrons do not have a propensity to travel from a positively
charged region to a negatively charged region, a salt bridge containing a cation and an anion that do
not play a role in the redox reaction, is required to keep this system operating. An U shaped tube
connecting the vessels, the salt bridge releases its cations to the reduction vessel and its anions to the
oxidation vessel to maintain the charge neutral. As scientific as this explanation may seem, battery, a
ubiquitous product, is modeled after this cell system. A common example of an electrochemical cell is
a standard 1.5 volt battery meant for consumer use .[ Electrochemistry. Wikipedia. Accessed January

America s Beer And Alcoholic Beverages
Americans love their beer and alcoholic beverages. Alcohol tax was even a catalyst in creating this
country by encouraging early Americans to fight for independence. Beer has been a common thread in
our society for the past 200 years that brings people together to socialize. As our country modernized
in the late 1800 s, breweries were constructed in every part of the United States. And of those
breweries, three survived prohibition and raced to take their claim on the country s market share. Our
country was carved up by three large beer companies; Miller was popular in the North, Budweiser was
popular in the South, and Coors was the choice in the Midwest and West. Adolph Coors was an
American success story and the company he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1940 s, the brewery introduced their line of premium beer calling it Banquet Coors , or as we
know that brand today as Coors. Coors became the beer for many famous actors and politicians, which
gave that brand prestige. The company took advantage of that prestige and centered their marketing
campaign on average Joes drinking the preferred beer of presidents and actors. I will argue later in this
analysis on how the brewery s loyalty to this premium brand of beer decreased market share in the
1980 s.
In the 1960 s, Coors profited by being one of the first beer companies to market their aluminum cans.
This was very important for Coors because of their production process. They were the only large beer
company that didn t pasteurize their beer. This required them to get innovative with their delivery
process. The beer industry was very saturated with competitors and Coors found their cash cow with
their Banquet brand. However, in order to provide that unique taste their product was required to age
longer and because they skipped the pasteurization process their product had to be shipped cold.
I argue that if not for the innovative process of aluminum cans, Coors would not have enjoyed the
success they did in 1960 s and early 1970 s. This was the peak of their innovative culture in the
company. Their opportunities then were how to decrease carrying and delivery costs due to their
unique brewing process and market a

A Necessary Prerequisite For A Full Understanding Of Any...
A necessary prerequisite for a full understanding of any species behavior includes possessing
comprehensive knowledge of their respective sensory world. Here we attempted to determine the
sensory threshold for a response to sweetness in both the flesh fly Sarcophaga bullata and Homo
sapiens. Flies and humans alike were exposed to increasingly concentrated solutions of glucose and
monitored for a positive response, indicative of the detection of sweetness. Results from our
experiment strongly indicate the population threshold for sweetness detection in S. bullata resides at a
glucose solution concentration level of 1%, while humans exhibited an increased sweetness

al. 2004). Important takeaways from these studies indicate that members of the taxa tend to be most
responsive to simple and sweet flavored carbohydrates (Dethier 1955, as quoted in Jakinovich et. al.
1971). However, taxa members responses to amino acids have been shown to be more subtle, if
present at all, with Potter and Bertin (1988), for example, determining no significant response to a
variety of amino acid solutions in S. bullata.
Traditionally, experimental analysis of Homo sapiens taste thresholds has similarly focused on these
two classes of biomolecules, with similar sweetness thresholds as those exhibited by members of the
taxa Insecta being established in H. sapiens with respect to simple carbohydrates. For example, while
Scheiner et. al. in (2003) (as quoted in Scheiner et al. 2004), demonstrated that a sucrose concentration
above 3% was sufficient to induce a positive sweetness detection rate of close to 60% in a population
of the honey bee, Apis mellifera, Richard Bowen (2016) has indicated the H. sapiens population
response threshold resides around sucrose concentrations of 3.4%.
Recently however, the movement away from the high calorie content of simple carbohydrate
sweeteners in the human diet, has generated an industry of artificial sweeteners commonly utilized by

Assessing the Value of Electronic Medical Records
Assessing the Value of Electronic Medical Records Introduction The potential for Electronic Medical
Records (EMR) to transform healthcare making it more accurate, efficient and cost effective is
significant. Studies indicate that the most common workflows and processes that EMR systems are
used for automating can save a healthcare provider up to 67% of the total costs of correcting error
filled reports and minimizing the costs of malpractice insurance as a result (Walker, 2005). The best
and most significant Return on Investment (ROI) of all however are the significant gains made in
patients recovery time and effectiveness of treatment programs (Darr, Harrison, Shakked, Shalom,
2003). Between the cost reductions made possible through effective use of EMR systems and the ROI
of saving lives, the collection of these technologies, systems and processes show significant potential
in streamlining patient based workflows while increasing the quality of care (Richards, Prybutok,
Ryan, 2012). Analysis Of EMR Benefits To The Patient And Healthcare Providers The greater the
accuracy and efficiency of analysis and diagnosis of a given condition or disease, the more completely
a physician can define a treatment plan with a high probability of success. EMR systems provide a
single system of record for the entire treatment history of a patient, including any previously
attempted treatment programs and their results (Walker, 2005). This system of record on a per patient

The 1911 Revolution kicked out the Qing Dynasty and broke the barriers to different developments in

in some particular aspects related to immediate problems and difficulties in society. Hence, the
relationship between the revolution and the subsequent development of China was very weak. On one
hand, I do not agree with the latter part of the statement that the 1911 Revolution brought new
problems to China. The conflicts and problems that China suffered in the early/ mid 1910s were
mainly due to the weakness of the military force, conflicting political organizations and disorder in

The New Army was the best trained and best equipped imperial military force in the Qing Dynasty.
Therefore, Yuan Shikai, who was the commander of the New Army, could get the place of Prime
Minister from Sun Yikxian after 1911 Revolution. Yuan agreed to a ₤25 million Reorganization Loan
to support his army without parliamentary discussion and appointed officials of his own choice.
However, like Yuan Shikai, officials such as Li Yuanhong and Duan Qiui did not have the military
forces and power to control other regional military leaders. This resulted in the rise of warlordism and
wars between regions always broke out. Violence and assassination became ways to change the
political situation. Moreover, he revived the monarchical system and subsequently appointed himself
as emperor. This conveyed that Yuan s behaviors destroyed the democratic system of the Republic.
Due to his political actions, Sun and some activists founded the Chinese Revolutionary Party to
oppose Yuan. Hence, Yuan Shikai was one of the major factors that caused social instability and
failure of new democratic system of China.

Analysis Of The Movie Clockwork Orange
Ryan Wadzinski Clockwork Orange A clockwork orange is an adaptation of Anthony Burgess novel of
the same name, it s also probably Kubrick s most faithful adaptation. This may be because a
screenplay was never actually written. Instead, Kubrick worked it out as he went along, working
directly from the book as he did. The thing about Kubrick that drew me to want to explore this movie
so just how bizarre and deprived it is, but yet the all of its wild and crazy parts are able to come
together to create one beautiful unique dystopian future. The reason is the attention to detail, he was
meticulous to a tee and that attention to detail shows. When you worked on a Kubrick film you
brought you re A no matter what department you were one. That s very evident with the costumes
which were done by Academy Award winning Italian designer Milena Canonero. The costuming in
this movie is fantastic it combines looks and attitudes that are very clearly 70 s London inspired, the
clothing has this mod/punk vibe to it, that felt entirely original and like a bizzaro version of today.
This makes sense because in an interview Milena stated that Kubrick didn t want to make a futuristic
film in a traditional science fiction way; he wanted to create something that was tomorrow something
far closer to today making the movie timeless. She intended to create costumes that were possible to re
create, as street gangs in reality create the look themselves with clothes they already own.

I thought I was turning back to see him and lost my balance and fell from the bed backwards. As a
result, I hit my head. Before I knew what was happening, my dad grasped a cane and beat me up for a
few times. My mum rushed in and knew that I fell down, saw me staring at her speechless, and not
even a tear from me. She quarreled with my dad for a while. She was so worried about the hit on my
head that she rushed me to the clinic, and then to the hospital for further observation. On the second
incident, my whole family was squeezing in a small living room watching news. I couldn t remember
what exactly happened. But, I only remembered I was standing up very close to my dad who was
sitting in a crouch. I lean against the couch but accidentally touch him. The next moment, I was given
a slap. My mum saw that and started quarrel with my dad. His excused was that I was messing up his
hair. After both incidents happened, I realized I was not only trying very hard to please my dad, but
also to avoid him in order to get less problem and trouble. There is a sense of guilt as I did not like my
parents to quarrel. These had caused me no sense of initiative being established for my later stages.

Energy, Water, And Food
1. Abstract
Energy, water, and food are interdependent on one another. Water is the main contributor for the
production of agriculture along with other food substances. The distribution of water is reliant on
energy. Energy is used to pump water from the ground. Water is used in agricultural irrigation and
energy is used to harvest the crops for food. All three sectors are indicators of a strong society.
The relationships between these three sectors come with a cost. High amounts of energy are used to
extract water. Extraction is both monetarily and environmentally costly. Using water in irrigation
diverts river flows. Energy can be produced from rivers but diverting water to agriculture creates a
lower flow. The balance of the trade offs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Energy security is the concept that government should protect its citizens from crises that may arise
between the availability and consumption of energy. Challenges are seen in the manipulation of power
supplies because of uneven distribution to competition for energy resources.
Food security is emphasized by the access to a supply of food. Throughout history, many different
societies have struggled to maintain a sufficient supply of nutritious food for their citizens. The limited
availability of food arose from factors such as droughts, war, energy shortages.
Access to these three services is more about keeping a consistent supply to society, addressing supply
fluctuations in times of extreme situation. Addressing these securities require collaboration among the
sectors. Interdisciplinary communication in the politics of each sector can help plan for future
potential conflict. 3. Interactions Among Security Sectors
Energy, water, and food sectors work together in many ways. Water is used for the extraction of
energy supplies such as fossil fuels. It is also used in mining and processing energy supplies. Energy is
used in machinery for growing food and it is also used in the transportation of food supplies.
Agriculturally, feedstock is grown to create biofuels which generate power and electricity. The
cultivation of the amount of feedstock needed to create biofuel is

Who Is Martin Luther King A Good Leader
Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial
justice , said Martin Luther King Jr. on August 28, 1963. The civil rights conflict had been raging for
years. Violence from both sides, primarily the brutal force from the segregationists, had lead to a
massive conflict that broke the country. But, the man, Martin Luther King Jr. had inspired a movement
of nonviolent resistance to stand up to the oppression with peace. He was a very inspiring and good
leader. Despite the difficult circumstances, like the conditions in Birmingham and Selma only
furthered his influences as a good leader. Therefore, King was a solid, moral leader, in the face of
hatred. Martin Luther King Jr s policies, rhetoric,

The Ascent Of Mount Ventoux Summary
The Renaissance was a cultural, economic, and political movement that emerged in Italy in the
fifteenth century. The Renaissance marked the leap from the Medieval era to the Modern Age and
brought with it a great cultural transformation, not only of the arts, but also of the sciences, letters and
forms of thought. Francesco Petrarch and Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola were two Renaissance men
who changed the ideals and ways of seeing the world that emerged during the Medieval Age.
In the letter The Ascent of Mount Ventoux , Petrarch describes his human experience when he climbed
Mount Ventoux with his brother and his two servants. The reason why Petrarch wanted to achieve this
goal was for the simple fact of living a personal experience. Petrarch declared that my only motive
was the wish to see what so great an elevation had to offer. This statement allows us to observe the ...

In medieval thought, everything revolved around god and the church, where personal motives had no
purpose if they had no relationship with any divine being. Petrarch s personal experience had no
purpose in glorifying or seeking God, but rather in discovering truth and happiness on his own. This
new way of thinking was considered part of the Renaissance because Petrarch uses reason as a source
of knowledge, and seeks the truth through personal reflection and research.
On the other hand, Giovanni had to analyze and question a concept different from Petrarch. For
Giovanni, the idea of Abdala the Sarraceno and Hermes Trismegisto that man is an intermediary
between creatures and interpreter of nature by sense, reason and intelligence, are not enough to
understand the condition of human nature. In the Oration on the Dignity of Man written in 1486,
Giovanni explains to us why man is the most fortunate and prestigious being in the world, and why the
human being is an intermediary between animals and angels

Newspaper Article On Technology Addiction By Richard Jones
What Jones tries to achieve in his (2014) newspaper article is to bring awareness to how technology
addiction is turning people s behavior more automated in nature by informing people interested or
concerned about the behavioral technology usage on a day to day basis. Jones presents plenty of
examples of the issues computer and smartphones present on a day to day basis including personal
observations and experiences, supporting views of scientists such as Einstein on this issue. Jones
states that as with our physical, psychological and spiritual selves, our social selves are most important
to our holistic health and to be healthy, we need personal interaction with others. Computer addiction
can be just as powerful and, often, more powerful

The Boys Chunk A Football
Our Escape
I watch the boys chunk a football around, out the kitchen window while I prepare lunch. Dani is
tackling his best friend onto the ground and, for a moment, I see them as grass stained little boys
again, with not a worry about war or deployment. It makes me smile. This was their escape. This was
the place where, just for a little while, there was no war, no AK 47s or PT. It was my escape too, but in
a different way. I didn t need an escape from gun fire and bombs. This was my escape from the war
waging at home. Dani trots in the kitchen, dripping in sweat and lifts me off the ground, swinging me
around. The sweat doesn t even bother me. I squeeze him right back and breathe in the scent of fresh
cut grass and his lavender fabric softener. I kiss him and ask for some help hauling the mound of food
out back. You would not believe the amount of food eight marines can ingest in one sitting. One step
out the door and the scent of charcoal and burgers engulfs us. We set out the food and the boy flock to
the table. I smack away as many grass stained, grungy hands as I can and tell them to wait until Sarg is
done with the burgers. Dani laughs and they, begrudgingly, obey and go back to using football as an
excuse to pummel each other into the ground. I love you. The words drip from his lips in that
Australian accent. He gives me another kiss then goes to join the rest of the hooligans. It s almost
summer and the flowers in the garden are in full bloom. Splashes of

Tea Party Movement Essay
Due to the weak state our of economy over the past several years, many organizations and movements
have surfaced in order to attempt to make a change to better our country. One of those organizations is
the Tea Party and their movement. The Tea Party movement is an effective political force in our
society because it is respectable, organized, and focused on common issues. According to the official
website for the Tea Party movement, it was formed randomly in 2009 from the reaction of the
American people fiscally irresponsible actions of the federal government, misguided stimulus
spending, bailouts, and takeovers of private industry. In an article for PBS from 2010, Dante Chinni
writes that there were about 67,000 members ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One reason the Tea Party movement is an effective political force in our society is because it is
respectable, meaning others take it more seriously than other political forces. Kim Geiger of the Los
Angeles Times writes that sixty members of the House of Representatives are apart of the movement.
She also states that the average net worth of the House of Representatives in 2010 was $755,000 and
that the average net worth of the 60 Tea Party members in the House is $1.8 million. Not only are
these members apart of Congress, which places them pretty high in how much respect they receive
from others, but they are also very wealthy, which adds to their respect that much more. The Tea Party
movement is also respectable because it has received praise from other political figures in society who
are viewed as respectable. In an interview with Piers Morgan on CNN, Rudy Giuliani said the
members of the Tea Party are respectable people (Nick Wing). In his article from the Huffington Post,
Wing also says that Giuliani even endorsed a Tea Party member who was a Republican candidate for
Senate in Florida. Although Giuliani may not be a member of the movement himself, it means
something to others when they see such a political figure as the former Mayor endorsing and
commending the Party. The Tea Party movement has also produced candidates for the Presidential
race in the past couple elections. Not only did the Party produce candidates

The Memory Interference Test ( Mit )
The Memory Interference Test (MIT) is a computerized experiment that gauges the cognitive
functioning of undergraduate students through visual or auditory prompts to test memory. The MIT is
particularly used to test patient s memory in situations where a brain injury is in question, the results
in performance are compared to standardized scores of their peers. There is an inverse relationship
between the amount of memory target items and performance: as the number of items the subject was
exposed to increased their performance significantly decreased (Komori 2016). Does previous expose
to the MIT and thus previous exposure to other target items account for the decrease in number of
correct items? Using a sample size of 10,090 the study examines the relationship between
performance and if the subject has had previous exposure to an MIT. The alternative hypothesis that
there is a statistically significant difference in the number of correct picture items and if it was the
subjects first MIT attempt, which directly contradicts the null hypothesis that there is no difference in
the number of correct picture items and wether or not it was the first MIT preformed.
Materials and Methods The MIT does not measure intelligence, rather the subjects memory and does
so through three different cognitive assessments: picture memory (PMIT), auditory memory (AMIT)
and word memory (WMIT). One of the three neuro cognitive tests is preformed, the PMIT flashes a

Computer Aided Dermatology
The different methods that fall under computer aided diagnosis are more variable in diagnosing
different attributes of melanoma as opposed to physicians. In computer diagnosis, patients are able to
undergo several, but not all types of noninvasive diagnoses such as teledermatology, mole mapping
and monitoring, automated diagnosis of melanoma, computer vision for automatic diagnosis of
melanoma, computer vision for noninvasive measurement of the depth of melanomas, and confocal
microscopy of histopathology. (Elbaum, 2002) With the variability in types of diagnoses, individuals
have the ability to choose what they want view and analyze in regards to their skin, whereas
physicians are limited by the methods they utilize (ABCDE, Ugly Duckling, ... Show more content on

A popular technique utilized by dermatologists to diagnose melanoma includes dermoscopy, which is
a noninvasive technique for taking high resolution images of skin lesions by making the superficial
layers of the skin translucent. (Dreiseitl, Binder, Hable, Kittler, 2009) Dermoscopy is a technique that
allows dermatologists to view lesions and moles at a larger magnitude yielding to a more accurate
diagnosis through the ABCDE method and Glasgow 7 point checklist. While dermoscopy has aided
physicians in accurately diagnosing melanoma, computer aided dermoscopy has been proven to have
higher accuracy in diagnosing patients. In one study, expert physicians scored a sensitivity of 81% and
specificity of 95%, whereas the computer aided dermoscopy scored 93% on sensitivity and 95%
specificity. (Barzegari, Ghaninezhad, Mansoori, Taheri, Naraghi, Asgari, 2005) The high sensitivity
and specificity of the computer diagnosis is the result of the lack of bias computers have in
comparison to physicians and dermatologists. In computer aided dermoscopy, the computer compares
the patient s lesions and moles to a database of previously recorded and imputed parameters. Thus,
computer diagnosis is accurate to the extent of the set parameters and is reproducible in results as
opposed to trained physicians who have variable ranges for specificity and sensitivity due to bias.
Similarly, in the dermoscopy of small lesions, expert dermatologists scored an average of 71%
sensitivity and 49% specificity whereas the computer vision system achieved 98% sensitivity and 44%
specificity. (Friedman, Gutkowicz Krusin, Farber, Warycha, Schneider Kels, Papastathis, Mihm, King,
Prieto, Kopf, Polsky, Rabinovitz, Oliviero, Cognetta, Rigel, Marghoob, Rivers, Johr, Grant Kels, Tsao,

  • 2. Talavera 1. Read Class Notes and trace the history of Mexican ceramics, through style. Materials, purpose and technique. The rich Mexican ceramics legacy was acquainted with Mexico by Spanish organization craftsmen and artists of the Colonial time frame. Usually called majolica in Spain, Mexican Talavera draws its name from the sixteenth century Spanish ceramics focus, Talavera de la Reina. While the multifaceted polychrome and more run of the mill blue and white outlines demonstrate their Old World inheritance, local flower and creature themes assert these vivid earthenware productions as traditionally Mexican. The most widely recognized earthenware production procedures of that period were looping and squeezing. Pieces terminated in block ovens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most prominent and famous pottery made in Mexico is Talavera pottery. Talavera is a high quality decorative earthenware pottery style that is recognized by its strong colors and detailed patterns creating traditional Mexican and more contemporary designs. The cultural trait of using bold mixtures of vivid colours in art and fabrics was also prevalent in the rich variety of colours used in traditional Mexican pottery decoration. Mexican pottery was made by coiling the clay into consecutive circles up the sides, followed by scraping and molding the coiled work until the coils could no longer be detected. The Mexican wares were not glazed, but rather burnished and painted with coloured fine clay slips. The Spanish introduced the potters wheel and new glazing techniques, including Majolica. The colorful Majolica suited the Mexican aesthetic and the Talavera pottery is renowned for its variety of Majolica and its mixture of different cultural influences. There was also a predominance of curved lines and intricate detail. This mixture of styles was adopted by the local folk art pottery scene with most potters working in family workshops, and everyone participating in the process. Talavera is a particular method of pottery which involves two firings first with a tin glaze and then lead (see further information). The brightly painted designs are applied between the two firings. Talavera is named after a town in Spain. This clay is then kneaded and the pieces are shaped on a potter s wheel or in a mold and left to dry. The pieces are fired at 850°C and become hard and terracotta coloured. More colour is applied in traditional designs. The design is transferred to the ceramic using carbon on a paper stencil. The resulting dot pattern is then used as a guide for the hand painted bright colours. The decorated piece is fired again to produce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of Gwen Harwood s Anthology Of Selected Poems The notion that ordinary, everyday experiences encompass universal emotions of both sadness and delight is central to Gwen Harwood s anthology of Selected Poems. This Australian poet often uses her personal journey towards self knowledge and experience of growing up to comment on universal aspects of raw, uncensored life experiences. She aims to convey the idea that motherhood is a difficult experience for many women who resent the way they are forced to abandon their individuality and careers. Harwood also illustrates the sadness in the loss of innocence and regrets in childhood. However, she also reminds the audience of the importance of celebrating the richness and vitality of human life such as the importance and power of women and parenthood. Ultimately the collection also suggests that aspects of both sadness and delight are evident in every human experience. Harwood s works challenge the patriarchal, societal view of motherhood as a role of delight, joy and fulfillment, revealing the hollow façade of meaningless that often comes with domestic suburban roles. She explores the role of women in her contemporary Australian society, criticising and challenging the expectations that women must be restricted to the domestic sphere in this patriarchal society. Harwood s graphic description and evocative imagery conveys the hopelessness of many women. Home of Mercy explores how females are dehumanized as the pregnant, unmarried girls have sinned in the eyes of society and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Realities Redefined in William Gibson s Neuromancer Essay Realities Redefined in William Gibson s Neuromancer The ways in which characters communicate and interact with one another are redefined in William Gibson?s Neuromancer. An all encompassing web of intrigue, the Net enables humans and non humans to access and to communicate an infinite amount of data across time and space. Medical implants open another door on virtual communications. Non living entities such as artificial intelligences and the Dixie Flatline construct overcome the physical barriers of communication. With the implementation of these new communications technologies, the physical and virtual realities of the society waver and meld into one another, resulting in an alienating cyber culture where this new reality of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like many others who treats cyberspace as their reality, Case is mostly solitary. He derives his adrenaline rush from stealing data in cyberspace, but he rarely senses emotions from other stimuli. For Case, making love with Linda Lee and with Molly cannot be compared with his love affair with the world of non flesh. As Molly says to Case: ?I saw you stroking that Sendai; man, it was pornographic? (47). When his former employers damage his nervous system with mycotoxin, Case is abruptly cut off from his sensuous love affair with the matrix. For him, it is the Fall (6). Case loses everything that he thinks is important to him, and he attempts to commit suicide. Even his love for Linda cannot help him overcome his depression. After all, physical and emotional love is not the same as being in love with something less tangible, for perhaps it is the intangibleness of the Net that enthrals Case. The cyberspace cowboys have an elite stance towards the physical world, a ?certain relaxed contempt for the flesh. The body was meat?(6). Meat deteriorates, but cyberspace lives on forever. In Case?s situation, it is apparent that it is the ?meat? of one?s physical body that can obstruct one from accessing the greater reality of cyberspace. This virtual reality, however, also impedes Case from fully living his physical life, but he does not completely acknowledge this even after his encounter with the A.I.s Wintermute and Neuromancer. ... • 6. William Edward Burghardt Du Bois Essay William Edward Burghardt Du Bois, born in 1868, was a scholar, activist, and philosopher, born into the era of Reconstruction and lynching. Though he accomplished much in his life, Du Bois is largely known for helping found the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and writing one of the most prominent works in American critical race theory, The Souls of Black Folk. Du Bois made it his life s work to contest racism through self assertion, humanize black people across the globe, and find a way to integrate black society and white American society. Much of his rhetoric focused on double consciousness and the veil, separate but closely related concepts that Du Bois used to describe the experience of Americans, both black and white. While Du Bois passed away a mere day before the March on Washington in 1963, his rhetoric remains vital to anti racist philosophy; for today, Americans live in an age of colorblind racism. It is a commonly held amongst white Americans belief that all Americans are treated equally and fairly, often citing the civil rights movements of the 1960 s in which the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Civil Rights Act of 1968 came to be. However, as of 2016, 42% of black Americans are dissatisfied in regards to how they are treated, while a mere 15% of white Americans are dissatisfied with the treatment of black Americans.1 Much of Du Bois rhetoric focused on education; more specifically, how to use the role of institutions, ... • 7. Analysis Of The Poem The World Is Too Much With Us The poem, The World Is Too Much with Us by William Wordsworth argues that people s disregard for nature s importance makes them lose their humanity. Wordsworth sees materialism as a waste of our powers (359). Our powers of being able to keep in touch with a fundamental part of themselves. To preserve and see the beauty of nature. Instead of building upon it. The start of the Industrialization in Britain brought factories, buildings, and a newly built world. This shifted the focus from living from nature to living away from it. Wordsworth explains it as, getting and spending, we lay waste our powers: little we see in nature that is ours (359). The social changes that were taking place brought a new attitude. Gone was the slow moving life of rural living replaced by urban living. Urbanization gave an urgency to the people. An attitude of greed for more growth, production, and spending. It made many jobs, but it also left many unemployed. This was due to hiring unskilled workers for cheap and leaving skilled workers still searching for jobs. Leaving many lower class people unsatisfied and living in an increasingly dismal conditions. These negative changes left Wordsworth dispirited. He understood the importance of enjoying the outside world away from these dismal conditions. To enjoy views such as the sea that bares her bosom to the moon or the winds that will be howling at all hours . Views that give peace and comfort. Away from the growing materialistic attitude of Britain society. This newly embraced capitalist mode of production, which flourished under a rhetoric of improvement (27), gave more trouble than improvement. The Natural Gas Price Of Gas There are various reasons that prediction of natural gas price is imperative to producers, suppliers, traders, market makers, and bankers involved in natural gas exploration, production, transportation and trading as well as consumers involved in utilization of natural gas (Mishra, 2012). The prices of energy commodity including natural gas price are very volatile that make the parties engaged in a high risk and uncertain activities. • 9. Quarterback Analysis Let me preface this editorial by saying that this is by far the longest position preview of this series. Quarterback is by far the deepest position group in fantasy football, and you only draft one or two of them, so hitting on a consistent producer who can deliver high point totals is crucial for your fantasy title hopes. I would feel comfortable with starting, or having on my team, most of the quarterbacks that inhabit the first four tiers below. That said, if I pass on the top guys, which is likely, I ll most likely draft two QB s that I think can be good and platoon them until one emerges as the guy. This could be a strategy you could use in most formats, unless your league s scoring favors quarterbacks or you re in a two quarterback league. Whether they are up, down or tied, both Manning and Rivers have coaching staffs that love to throw the ball They throw all day everyday. Last year, with a terrible line, an infirmary at wide receiver and Danny Woodhead, Rivers balled out. Lady Macbeth is a ruthless and manipulative woman because she pressures her loved ones to commit horrible crimes, betrays those who have been nothing but kind to her, and does not care who she ruins, as long as she reaches her goal. As the anode frees electrons where oxidation takes place, the electrons enter an electricity conducting wire and travel to the cathode where reduction takes place, thereby creating electrical energy. In the meantime of this process, a positive charge and a negative charge accumulate in the oxidation and reduction vessel respectively, due to the transfer of electrons. Since electrons do not have a propensity to travel from a positively charged region to a negatively charged region, a salt bridge containing a cation and an anion that do not play a role in the redox reaction, is required to keep this system operating. An U shaped tube connecting the vessels, the salt bridge releases its cations to the reduction vessel and its anions to the oxidation vessel to maintain the charge neutral. As scientific as this explanation may seem, battery, a ubiquitous product, is modeled after this cell system. A common example of an electrochemical cell is a standard 1.5 volt battery meant for consumer use .[ Electrochemistry. Wikipedia. Accessed January 21, 2016. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. America s Beer And Alcoholic Beverages Americans love their beer and alcoholic beverages. Alcohol tax was even a catalyst in creating this country by encouraging early Americans to fight for independence. Beer has been a common thread in our society for the past 200 years that brings people together to socialize. As our country modernized in the late 1800 s, breweries were constructed in every part of the United States. And of those breweries, three survived prohibition and raced to take their claim on the country s market share. Our country was carved up by three large beer companies; Miller was popular in the North, Budweiser was popular in the South, and Coors was the choice in the Midwest and West. Adolph Coors was an American success story and the company he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 1940 s, the brewery introduced their line of premium beer calling it Banquet Coors , or as we know that brand today as Coors. Coors became the beer for many famous actors and politicians, which gave that brand prestige. The company took advantage of that prestige and centered their marketing campaign on average Joes drinking the preferred beer of presidents and actors. I will argue later in this analysis on how the brewery s loyalty to this premium brand of beer decreased market share in the 1980 s. In the 1960 s, Coors profited by being one of the first beer companies to market their aluminum cans. This was very important for Coors because of their production process. They were the only large beer company that didn t pasteurize their beer. This required them to get innovative with their delivery process. The beer industry was very saturated with competitors and Coors found their cash cow with their Banquet brand. However, in order to provide that unique taste their product was required to age longer and because they skipped the pasteurization process their product had to be shipped cold. I argue that if not for the innovative process of aluminum cans, Coors would not have enjoyed the success they did in 1960 s and early 1970 s. This was the peak of their innovative culture in the company. Their opportunities then were how to decrease carrying and delivery costs due to their unique brewing process and market a ... A necessary prerequisite for a full understanding of any species behavior includes possessing comprehensive knowledge of their respective sensory world. Here we attempted to determine the sensory threshold for a response to sweetness in both the flesh fly Sarcophaga bullata and Homo sapiens. Flies and humans alike were exposed to increasingly concentrated solutions of glucose and monitored for a positive response, indicative of the detection of sweetness. Results from our experiment strongly indicate the population threshold for sweetness detection in S. bullata resides at a glucose solution concentration level of 1%, while humans exhibited an increased sweetness sensitivity, with the population threshold appearing at 0.1%. Important takeaways from these studies indicate that members of the taxa tend to be most responsive to simple and sweet flavored carbohydrates (Dethier 1955, as quoted in Jakinovich et. al. 1971). However, taxa members responses to amino acids have been shown to be more subtle, if present at all, with Potter and Bertin (1988), for example, determining no significant response to a variety of amino acid solutions in S. bullata. Traditionally, experimental analysis of Homo sapiens taste thresholds has similarly focused on these two classes of biomolecules, with similar sweetness thresholds as those exhibited by members of the taxa Insecta being established in H. sapiens with respect to simple carbohydrates. For example, while Scheiner et. al. in (2003) (as quoted in Scheiner et al. 2004), demonstrated that a sucrose concentration above 3% was sufficient to induce a positive sweetness detection rate of close to 60% in a population of the honey bee, Apis mellifera, Richard Bowen (2016) has indicated the H. sapiens population response threshold resides around sucrose concentrations of 3.4%. Recently however, the movement away from the high calorie content of simple carbohydrate sweeteners in the human diet, has generated an industry of artificial sweeteners commonly utilized by H. ... One amendment I would have created is limiting terms of congress. I believe that if the president must serve a limited amount of terms that congress should as well. We have flaws in our system and we have what we call rotten apples (corrupted) people in our government. I believe limiting congress terms will help clear out corruption. Congressmen can serve for life in the congress if they want to, if they get reelected in to congress. I would limit congress terms to two terms like the president. I do feel it is necessary to limit the terms to one clear out any corruption as possible and two to have fresh faces. We also have to think about the voter s rights, and how they might like who is representing them and want to keep them in congress forever. It would decrease the power of voters by limiting terms for congress, yes it would be great to rid the old and put in new lawmakers, but voters would lose power because of wanting to keep their representatives plus they can vote them out if they wanted to. Assessing the Value of Electronic Medical Records Assessing the Value of Electronic Medical Records Introduction The potential for Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to transform healthcare making it more accurate, efficient and cost effective is significant. Studies indicate that the most common workflows and processes that EMR systems are used for automating can save a healthcare provider up to 67% of the total costs of correcting error filled reports and minimizing the costs of malpractice insurance as a result (Walker, 2005). The best and most significant Return on Investment (ROI) of all however are the significant gains made in patients recovery time and effectiveness of treatment programs (Darr, Harrison, Shakked, Shalom, 2003). Between the cost reductions made possible through effective use of EMR systems and the ROI of saving lives, the collection of these technologies, systems and processes show significant potential in streamlining patient based workflows while increasing the quality of care (Richards, Prybutok, Ryan, 2012). Analysis Of EMR Benefits To The Patient And Healthcare Providers The greater the accuracy and efficiency of analysis and diagnosis of a given condition or disease, the more completely a physician can define a treatment plan with a high probability of success. On one hand, I do not agree with the latter part of the statement that the 1911 Revolution brought new problems to China. Analysis Of The Movie Clockwork Orange Ryan Wadzinski Clockwork Orange A clockwork orange is an adaptation of Anthony Burgess novel of the same name, it s also probably Kubrick s most faithful adaptation. This may be because a screenplay was never actually written. Instead, Kubrick worked it out as he went along, working directly from the book as he did. The thing about Kubrick that drew me to want to explore this movie so just how bizarre and deprived it is, but yet the all of its wild and crazy parts are able to come together to create one beautiful unique dystopian future. The reason is the attention to detail, he was meticulous to a tee and that attention to detail shows. When you worked on a Kubrick film you brought you re A no matter what department you were one. That s very evident with the costumes which were done by Academy Award winning Italian designer Milena Canonero. The costuming in this movie is fantastic it combines looks and attitudes that are very clearly 70 s London inspired, the clothing has this mod/punk vibe to it, that felt entirely original and like a bizzaro version of today. This makes sense because in an interview Milena stated that Kubrick didn t want to make a futuristic film in a traditional science fiction way; he wanted to create something that was tomorrow something far closer to today making the movie timeless. Water is the main contributor for the production of agriculture along with other food substances. The distribution of water is reliant on energy. Energy is used to pump water from the ground. Water is used in agricultural irrigation and energy is used to harvest the crops for food. All three sectors are indicators of a strong society. The relationships between these three sectors come with a cost. High amounts of energy are used to extract water. Extraction is both monetarily and environmentally costly. Challenges are seen in the manipulation of power supplies because of uneven distribution to competition for energy resources. Food security is emphasized by the access to a supply of food. Throughout history, many different societies have struggled to maintain a sufficient supply of nutritious food for their citizens. The limited availability of food arose from factors such as droughts, war, energy shortages. Access to these three services is more about keeping a consistent supply to society, addressing supply fluctuations in times of extreme situation. Francesco Petrarch and Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola were two Renaissance men who changed the ideals and ways of seeing the world that emerged during the Medieval Age. In the letter The Ascent of Mount Ventoux , Petrarch describes his human experience when he climbed Mount Ventoux with his brother and his two servants. This new way of thinking was considered part of the Renaissance because Petrarch uses reason as a source of knowledge, and seeks the truth through personal reflection and research. On the other hand, Giovanni had to analyze and question a concept different from Petrarch. The Memory Interference Test ( Mit ) The Memory Interference Test (MIT) is a computerized experiment that gauges the cognitive functioning of undergraduate students through visual or auditory prompts to test memory. The MIT is particularly used to test patient s memory in situations where a brain injury is in question, the results in performance are compared to standardized scores of their peers. There is an inverse relationship between the amount of memory target items and performance: as the number of items the subject was exposed to increased their performance significantly decreased (Komori 2016). Does previous expose to the MIT and thus previous exposure to other target items account for the decrease in number of correct items? Using a sample size of 10,090 the study examines the relationship between performance and if the subject has had previous exposure to an MIT. While dermoscopy has aided physicians in accurately diagnosing melanoma, computer aided dermoscopy has been proven to have higher accuracy in diagnosing patients. In one study, expert physicians scored a sensitivity of 81% and specificity of 95%, whereas the computer aided dermoscopy scored 93% on sensitivity and 95% specificity. (Barzegari, Ghaninezhad, Mansoori, Taheri, Naraghi, Asgari, 2005) The high sensitivity and specificity of the computer diagnosis is the result of the lack of bias computers have in comparison to physicians and dermatologists. In computer aided dermoscopy, the computer compares the patient s lesions and moles to a database of previously recorded and imputed parameters. Thus, computer diagnosis is accurate to the extent of the set parameters and is reproducible in results as opposed to trained physicians who have variable ranges for specificity and sensitivity due to bias.
