Literary Analysis of A White Heron
Literature Analysis Part 1 Throughout the history Fiction has been used by many writers to
emphasize on environment and the importance it has in our lives. A White Heron , is a great
example of how an article can effectively grip the attention of the reader and delivering a vital
message at the same time. On the other hand fact based articles are based on truth, research and
years of hard work but unfortunately most of the time they fail to capture the common reader
proving interesting to only subject area experts or environmentalists. A White Heron written in
1886 is about a girl who comes to her grandmother s house in the country side she falls in love
with the nature and after some time adjusts in the new surroundings. Being familiarized with the
surroundings, a hunter offers her a considerable reward for finding a Heron for his personal
collection. Being human she agrees to find the bird and accompanies the hunter but fails to find the
heron. Later on she goes alone and finds the bird s nest by climbing on the tallest tree, this in turn
reignites her love and passion for the nature and the thought of helping the hunter and killing of the
Heron becomes cynical. She keeps it a secret and Hunter goes back without his prize. (Jewett, 2009)
On the other hand Reducing, harmful, drilling and mining is an article that emphasizes on the use
of coal in fulfilling our energy needs and the impact coal drilling and mining has on the
environment of the surrounding areas. It

The Confederate Of Hypocrites Character Analysis
The Confederacy of Hypocrites John Kennedy Toole killed himself after his book, The
Confederacy of Dunces, was rejected by a number of publishers. It wasn t until after he died that
the book came to Walker Percy, who pushed for its publication. In the foreword for the book,
Percy calls the book sad, he says one never quite knows where the sadness comes from from the
tragedy at the heart of Ignatius s great gaseous rages and lunatic adventures or the tragedy
attending the book itself (Percy ix). Though not obvious, the book offers evidence to suggest that
the sadness does have a root in Ignatius s great gaseous rages and lunatic adventure[s] and has
nothing to do with the author s suicide, as tragic as that may be. The book is a critique of ordinary
society s shortcomings but subsequently offers no solution or example of redemption. Toole s main
tool for conveying his critique is through his main character, Ignatius J. Reilly, a pretentious, lazy,
slob, whom stumbles from page to page in the book centering the entire plot around his grotesque
self. Through the characterization of Ignatius and his interactions with society around him, The
Confederacy illustrates a phenomenon in which people s outward judgements become... Show more

Humans Affecting The Nitrogen Cycle
In recent decades humans have been playing an increasingly large role in the nitrogen cycle. Not all
of the ways humans have been affecting the cycle have been negative, but the vast majority have
been. One key thing that has human activity that has been disrupting the nitrogen cycle is the
burning of fossil fuel. This burning releases carbon into the air at unnatural rate, and thus alters the
amount of nitrogen in the atmosphere. This has had far reaching effects that no one first thought of
and is now affecting the plant and animals in Acadia National Park. Another human activity that has
increased massively over the past few years is industrial nitrogen fixation. This process is used to
create fertilizer with high amount of nitrogen in it.

A Fine Balance
[GRABBER] Cultural artifacts are items that give information about the culture or society of the
humans that created it. With insight to the attributes of a society, life is memorialized and proved
existent. Literature, likewise, can be a cultural artifact, as the compositions are both social evidence
and testimony. A Fine Balanceby Rohinton Mistrygives historical insight and evidence, describing
the culture of life in India. Both the corruption of power and the sufferings of the people spread
across the pages. Written by an Indian born Canadian, the events are gruesomely true and have the
purpose to educate and create more empathetic readers. Illustrating the downfall of life in India
under the Emergency, Rohinton Mistry s A Fine Balance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Initially, Dina Dalal is not worried about the Emergency, she feels that since she is in the middle
class she has nothing to worry about: [The Emergency is] government problems games played by
people in power. It doesn t affect ordinary people like us (83). However, immediately after the plan
affects her personally, by de housing the tailors, she changes her mind: It s terrible, government
makes laws without thinking ... the government should let homeless people sleep on the pavements.
Then my tailors wouldn t have disappeared (431). Dina represents what many of the callous middle
class citizens of Bombay feel: unworried until personally threatened. Also sharing displeased
emotions with the government is Avinash who is part of the student body within the city. Students
like Avinash are similarly subversive, fighting for better conditions in college, but more importantly
for India. Avinash reveals that the fundamental rights have been suspended, most of the opposition
is under arrest, and ... [that] the press is being censored (285). Although this group of students have
more opportunities than many other, lower class, citizens, they are just as restless. Mistry continues
to share how widespread similar emotions are by describing from the viewpoints of different social
classes.

Sephardic Jewish Pirates the Caribbean Connection
If you plan on touring the island of Jamaica, you may be interested in visiting the oldest Jewish
cemetery, Hunt s Bay cemetery, near Kingston. Kingston has a Jewish community dating back to
the 1600s. What you will find in this cemetery may astonish you: typical Jewish gravestones with
a Hebrew inscription. But that is not the unusual part; in the corner of some gravestones, you ll see
carved pictures of skulls and crossbones. What are crossbones doing in a Jewish cemetery? What
is the connection between the Jews of Jamaica and Piracy? [pic] [pic] [pic] Hunt s Bay Cemetery ...

Hence, the title Portugal in all the Spanish Colonies became synonymous with New Christians or
Marranos. Though the New World was under Spanish rule, the Crown turned a blind eye to the
secret Jewish communities sprouting up in every new colony. The Jews played it safe, changing
their names and feigning devotion to the Catholic religion, all the while building an economic
empire of international trade throughout South and Central America, the Caribbean Sea and
European waters of the Mediterranean.
SPAINAS A WORLD POWER As Spanish conquistadors conquered and settled land after land in
the New World, jewelry from the natives and mines of silver and gold poured into the Spanish
treasury from the Incas. Sugar, coffee, bananas, tobacco and other profitable crops that thrived in
the warm climate of the Caribbean islands, Central America and South America, filled ship after
Spanish ship with an abundance of wealth from the new colonies. As Spain s treasury filled, other
European nations had their eyes on the golden mine of New World treasures. While the Spanish
conquistadors conquered land, plundered the natives and terrorized their women, the Marranos
dedicated themselves to settling the new lands and creating a safe world for them to live in. They

30 Rock
The typical episode of the critically acclaimed, indie darling, sitcom 30 Rock focuses on the
lives of the writers, producers, executives and love interests of those involved in the production
of a fictional sketch comedy television show called TGS with Tracy Jordan. 30 Rock is widely
known as a show that deals with race, gender and class issues from multiple, humorous
perspectives. Yet watching Season Five, Episode Twenty, a viewer could grow uncomfortable at
the racial generalizations. The episode is entitled Queen of Jordan and is intended to parody the
Real Housewives franchise of reality television. The episode was shot and aired as if it were a

The shows are aware of the excess of their characters. In following the consumerist lifestyles, it
does not validate or idolize them, but instead provokes populist scorn on these women and their
failures (Lee and Moscowitz, p. 80). The shows critiques and demonizes women specifically,
which, in this setting, is deeply intertwined with class through their use of the Bravo wink.
Bravo winks when it showcases the irony in a scene for the viewer. Bravo executive, Andy
Cohen, explained the practice as, Trying to let the audience in on the fun of the story. We wink
at the audience when someone says, I m the healthiest person in the world and then you see them
ashing their cigarette ( For Housewives, p. AR24). The fun Cohen describes is setting up
cultural expectations of gender and class behavior only to have them violated so the audience
can laugh at the housewives shortcomings as both socialites and mothers. The Real Housewives
franchise is already self aware enough to be a show about, rich women to crass to be classy, too
superficial to be nurturing and too self obsessed to be caring (Lee and Moscowitz, p. 64). Because
of this reflexive critique, 30 Rock s criticism is of race and the medium of reality television is more

The National Aeronautics And Space Administration Essay
Since the dawn of time, the human race has gazed up at the stars, in both wonder and
amazement. Curiosity is one of the best traits that humanity possesses. It serves to drive us
forward and seek a more efficient way of using our skills that are unique to us. We as humans
continued to evolve through the millennia, and so too did our intelligence and understanding of
our small world. We began to socialize and congregate. We formed small tribes near local water
sources as we left our caves. This would spark some of the first cases of conflict among the
human race damning us with a future littered with warfare as we created a society of haves and
have nots as nations and empires rose and fell. This remains true even today, but our desire to
explore and increase our knowledge has never diminished. With that being said, we must re evaluate
the established paradigm that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration s (NASA) role in
the Cold War. NASA did not exist for the sole purpose to beat the Soviet Union into space and
establish a monopoly of power in space. This was a byproduct. NASA s genesis was a genuine
intention to increase the knowledge of mankind. In many ways NASA can be seen as a miracle
of mankind because it was born out of a state of war, but evolved into an organization shaped for
peace and discovery. By looking at NASA, it is an exemption from the warlike nature of the Cold
War. We can observe this evolution from its wartime genesis, and its transition

Persuasive Essay About Being Gay
Hey Shelby, I have to tell you something but I honestly don t know how to say it. James what is
it, I m scared. Why does it take this much energy to just tell me something? Here, I ll write it on a
piece of paper and don t open it until after I leave. (A few minutes later) Aww James you re gay I
always knew it thanks for telling me. Umm I kind of can t talk right now I m in class. Growing
up as a homosexual male has been challenging for me. This challenge has resulted in me not
accepting my own self and reality, and coming to terms with who I really am. I ve tried to deny
it, date girls and just prove that I was straight, but I was tired of lying to myself and others. Being
gay has always been frowned upon in today s society and it is a sad reality. I have finally come
to terms with who I am, and this is me! I am gay! Growing up as a gay male has been a hard thing
in today s society. Due to the unfortunate circumstances that happened in Orlando and knowing that
being gay isn t the new cool ; people have a hard time coming outbecause they don t want to be a
minority. This is exactly what happened to me. I am 16 years old and I have always known
about my sexuality. I tried to cover up my sexuality by dating girls, and denying it to my friends,
family, and myself. I wanted to tell people, but I know that some people wouldn t like the reality of
me being gay. People like my parents, or some of my friends would have a problem with me being

Karpman s Definition Of Aggression
The purpose of this research is to delve into what aggression truly is, and what it means. This
paper will seek to answer, the question of aggression being a byproduct of anger and thereby a
negative emotion or if aggression is an impulse derived from survival instincts. For the intent of this
paper, the definition of aggressionthat will be used throughout this work is derived from that article
by Ben Karpman titled Aggression , published in the 1950 October edition of the American Journal
of Orthopsychiatry. Aggression ... is the expenditure of energy in order to secure what is needed
from the environment (Karpman 697). While this definition was established quite a long time ago

One of the most common causes of aggression and thereby the most notable is the intergroup
bias. The intergroup bias is simply the tendency [people] have to cooperate with in group
members and aggress ... out group members (Mifune et al. 1). A group of researchers and
psychologists conducted an experiment on the intergroup biases in fear induced aggression. This
experiment composed by Nobuhiro Mifune, Simunovic Dora, and Yamagishi Toshio. They
published their results in the scholarly journal Frontiers in Psychology , in January of this year.
They utilized a primary strike game which enabled them to create situations in which they could
test for reasons for the aggressive behavior. Their experiment revealed that aggression is, likely
consequences of real intergroup conflicts over tangible resources, moral righteousness, or a history
of continuous fighting between groups (Mifune et al. 2). Additionally, they found that the majority
of the aggressors acted not out of spite but out of fear based self defense (Mifune et al. 6).
Anecdotally there are a few other causes of aggression worth noting. There are as follows
Intermittent Explosive Disorder , an imbalance of the brain oxidative metabolism, Trans fat
consumption, and mental disorders such as

Mat 540 Unit 4 Essay
Firstly, when n=0, we have F(0)≤4*F(0)+0 ⟹F(0)≥0.
Secondly, when n=2^(k+1), where k is a nonnegative Integer, we have F(2^(k+1) )≤4*F(2^k
)+2^(k+1). We can prove that the function F(n) satisfies the propertyP: в€
Ђkв€€N,F(2^k

гЂ–(S_m)гЂ—_(m=0)^(+в€

have F(2^0 )≤4^1*F(0)+1, which means S_0=1. We suppose that the case of k=m is correct,
where m∈N, which means F(2^m )≤4^(m+1)*F(0)+S_m. From this, we have F(2^(m+1)
)≤4*F(2^m )+2^(m+1)≤4*(4^(m+1)*F(0)+S_m
)+2^(m+1)=4^(m+2)*F(0)+гЂ–4*SгЂ—_m+2^(m+1). As a result, the case of k=m+1 is correct

G(n) really is an upper bound function of F(n), we can use a software like Matlab to calculate the

The Truth About the Music Industry Essay
Music is universally known as an expression of emotion, rebellion against the man, a way of life, a
random collection of sounds, an annoying thing kids listen to, or even a vacation from everything,
but in reality music is free of all definition. The industry involved in buying, selling and recording
of music has grown so old, treacherous, and ignorant that it can not figure out the steps it needs to
evolve with the rapidly expanding music industry. Musicians and fans alike are screaming about the
dire need of some modern day innovation in the market. Sadly the monstrous corporations that
dominate the market have put a lid on the competitive edge, stopped the innovative changes any
smaller companies can make.

As a band we have done some research of studio time and what it costs to have a record
published and sold in stores. I understand that music is hard to make a living off of because its
hard enough to just pay for the things your band needs and that record labels lose a lot of money
in trying to finance an album that has such a high chance of failure. But major Record labels are
creating a monopoly of the music industry which limits the innovation and advancement other
minor labels or musicians could provide by taking away competition. The market is dominated by
the Big Three (Sony, Warner Music Group, and Universal Music Group) who continuously buy out
competition and all have many smaller companies who have front names to cover up the fact
that they are owned by the larger corporation. Ten years ago there were five major companies
that controlled the market place, in the beginning of 2005 Sony and BMG, Bertelsmann Music
Group, decided to form a 50/50 partnership that would spread worldwide. Together they
controlled a vast majority of American music and the only place in the world that was not apart
of this corporation was Japan because the business would be affected too much. Then in 2008
BMG announced that they were not going to renew the contract because of falling sales which
would have been really bad for Sony financially, so they decided to buy BM s portion of the
company for 1.2 billion, which included all of BMG s record

Personal Injury Documentation
Injury Documentation: What Will Help Win Your Case Personal injuries can often leave people
with medical bills, lost wages, and plenty of pain and suffering during the recovery process.
There is so much on the line and you will want to take steps to document your recover.
Documenting your injury in the following ways can help you win your case in court and
receive the compensation you deserve. Medical Records Medical records tell two sides of the
story in a personal injury case. The urgency that you visited the doctor will reflect how seriously
you took your injury. If you have medical records that show you visited the emergency room right
after the injury happened, it definitely helps prove that the significance of the injury is real.
Medical bills can also be a way to add up all previous... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Receiving late medical attention may cause the defendant to say that your injury wasn t serious,
or that the injury happened elsewhere and is not related to the original incident. Seeking
immediate medical attention can help disprove any of those theories about how you were
injured. Pictures Some people make the mistake of not taking any photos of an injury during
recovery. The thought process is that you can just show the injury as proof that it happened, but
the personal injury lawsuit process can go on for months or years. By the time you go into court
or mediation, the physical evidence may be gone. You will want to take pictures of the injury
throughout the entire recovery process. Your medical records may paint a complete picture about
how bad your injury was at the time, know that a jury will be able to react to photos much easier
when presented with evidence. It is important to take a progression of photographs during recovery,
capturing the injury at its best and worst state. For instance, bruising can often get worse before it
starts to get better. Journal

The Hershey Milk Chocolate Bar
For over one hundred years, there has been only one company that has been on top of the candy
industry in North America; Hershey. With over 14,000 employees, serving 70 countries
worldwide and net sales of $6.6 billon, Hershey has come out on top. The Hershey company
began in 1894 by Milton Hershey. The company has over 8 factories, but their main headquarters
resides in Pennsylvania. The beloved Hershey milk chocolate bar has been a favorite by many,
but would it still be if more people knew how it came to be that? One of chocolates main
ingredients is cocoa. Cocoa, or cocoa beans come from tropical areas around the world, but is
mostly found on the Ivory Coast in West Africa. Hershey, along with Mars and Nestle are the
three major companies that buy their cocoa from West Africa, but with further investigation, it
has been known that over 4,400 children work on those cocoa farms that they buy from.
Hershey has bought and produced tons of chocolate for over 50 years that has had the blood,
sweat and tears of the not only the children on the Ivory Coast, but the adults as well. The way
that Hershey has been able to sell to their consumers with very low prices on all their products is
because they buy from the cocoa farms that have child slaves. Many of which were taken from
their homes, sold or needed to provide for their families. They would come work for cocoa
farmers and get paid little to nothing. Children who work on the Ivory Coast usually are between
ages 12 and 16,

Wage Inequality And Sex Work
Within various schools of feminist thought, wage inequality and sex work are often prime focuses.
Wage inequality, or the gender pay gap, is generally discussed as a broad problem affecting all
women. However, this broad approach often leaves out marginalized women, such as women of
color, poor women, trans women, queer women, and immigrant women, who experience wage
inequality at disproportionately higher rates than women who are not marginalized in these ways.
The same lack of intersectional focus colors discussions of sex work, which typically promote a
victim/empowered woman dichotomy that fails to account for the nuanced factors in place
affecting women of color, trans women, and immigrant women. While it is important that feminist...

not necessarily interchangeable. The use of the phrase domestic labor refers to work done within
the home, particularly childcare, elderly care, and the upkeep of the household. The term women

domestic. In her chapter Industrialization, Wage Labor, and the Economic Gender Gap , Estelle

industrial work in textile mills, retail, clerical, and teaching jobs. When referring to sex work, Laura
Agustin uses the term in Migrants in the Mistress s House to encompass everything from
prostitution, sexual services in bars, clubs, and flats, erotic phone sex, peep shows, massage
parlors, and lap dancing (110). However, she often does not differentiate between sex work and
domestic work because migrants often move between these sectors or work in two at once, and
because a separation into two groups reproduces a scheme of good versus bad girls (97). For the

Causes Of Night Terrors
If you have ever been awakened by someone screaming in panic, heavily sweating, and tossing
around in their sleep, you have most likely experienced someone having night terrors. Night
terrors is defined as a sleep disorder associated with arousal of terror or dread (Healthline).
Occasionally, night terrors can happen to adults, but they are most common in children ages 3 12
(WebMD). However, higher percentage of children do grow out of night terrors while entering the
teenage years. Unlike a nightmare, victims of night terrors have no recollection of the episode.

and are outgrown by adolescence. Some theoretical reasons for episodes of night... Show more

Terrors seem to be more common in children with elders who have experienced terrors, it s
hereditary. Night terrors does not only affect children. Adults can be victims, but it is close to
rare. Adults who suffer from night terrors usually have a history of bipolar disorder, depressive
disorders, and anxiety disorders (Sleep Education). If you are unsure if someone is experiencing
night terrors, be sure to pay attention to the symptoms. If the victim begins to sit upright in bed,
scream or shout, perform dangerous actions, are hard to wake up, are confused when woken up,
or not able to remember what took place, they are more than likely suffering from night terrors
(Sleep Education). Night terrors are similar to nightmares, but it does have it s differences. When
you have a nightmare, you are able to remember some or most of the dream and are able to
interpret it. With night terrors, the victim has no recollection on the episode and seem confused
when asked about it. In most cases along with night terrors, victims can suffer from exhaustion.

Enforcing anti piracy laws have always been a challenge. For instance, blocking piracy websites
has been an endless game of cat and mouse as websites keep reappearing under different domains.
Moreover, pirates can use Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to get around the blocked sites.
3.2Current Statistics and Future Trends
According to the Australian Site Blocking Efficacy Report produced by online analysis company
INCORPO, there has been an overall piracy has declined by 25 percent year on year. The Federal
Court has ordered the closure of 65 piracy sites and over 378 related domains since the site

The Bombing Of Oklahoma City
The period between 1995 and 2005 is very memorable in America s history. There are several
incidences and occurrences that unfolded which helped in shaping and framing the current United
States of America. The bombing of Oklahoma City is a major epic event that still lingers in the
minds of most Americans. However, there is much to contemplate and deduce based on the
incidence of 19th April 1995. The music industry also experienced drastic changes between this
time frame and analyzing these changes is pivotal in understanding the history of America and may
assist in predicting the changes to be expected within the next one decade. Evolution and
advancement in technology are also a crucial part of the discussion of American history and the
emergence of the digital era. It is, therefore, worth appreciating and acknowledging the past since it
forms part of our identity.
Timothy McVeighwas the main accuser in the case of Oklahoma City bombing. The bomb
exploded during the early morning hours of 19th April 19, 1995. Despite being an ex military
officer, Timothy was the main conspirator, and he used a rented truck to bomb the downtown side
of the Oklahoma City. The accused had parked the truck on the rear part of the Alfred P. Murrah
Federal Building, which is located in the downtown of Oklahoma City. According to the FBI, the
powerful bomb mounted on the truck was made of a mixture of diesel fuel, agricultural fertilizers
and traces of other chemicals ( Oklahoma City Bombing ).

Essay on Misfortune and Comedy in Shakespeare s Play, A...
A Winter s Tale by William Shakespeare is a chilling play full of misfortune and comedy.
Throughout the play, the themes of death and suffering are present, but yet the way in which they
are presented is both comical and strange. The way in which the dialogue takes place or the way
in which actions occur seem to be ambiguous. One of the most pivotal points of the story takes
place over a very short time span, climaxing over three pages, and declining almost immediately
thereafter. In this case, the deathof Hermione and Mamillius occurs and is resolved, with their burial
following quickly after. The wording throughout the text can be interpreted in several ways,
especially in the way which death is represented throughout the play. Death... Show more content on

However, strangely none of the deaths occur on stage, rather both deaths are announced to the
king through someone else. Paulina being the most important of the messengers, for she was
the one caring for both Hermione and Mamillius. The way in which she announces Hermione s
death is peculiar, I say she s dead; I ll swear it. If word nor oath prevail not, go and see: if you
can bring tincture or luster in her lip, her eye, heat outwardly or [breathe] within (50). She
confirms that Hermione is in fact dead, but still want Leontes to go forth and see for himself.
Strange considering that before this point Paulina had changed her views towards the tyrant king.
Paulina no longer respected her king as before, for he had gone blind with rage. Leontes up and
till this point had discredited his queen, already he had forgotten how to bring out the luster or
breath in her. All he saw was an adulterous, somebody guilty of high treason. Death changed
Leontes, for he no longer sought revenge nor did he want to dispel his wrath. Instead he now saw
his mistakes, and would like to mend them, but sadly cannot. The events that have occurred are
done, and there is no way of going back to change them. Leontes himself sees this, and now the play
may move on from the wretchedness that was the new ruler. Now the focus can shift to the
daughter that he had banished before, that was believed unimportant till learning

Essay on Music- The Beginning of the End
At a young age music is brought into a child s life, parents even use music to sooth a baby before
it is even born. Music has a huge impact on pop culture. What is popular culture some may ask?
Well you can break pop culture up into two words, popular and culture. In Merriam Webster
Popular is defined as commonly liked or approved ( Popular ). The word Culture is defined in the
same dictionary as the act of developing the intellectual and moral faculties especially by education

Woodstock were smoking marijuana. Acid and other psychedelics were also quite prevalent.
During the three days, there was one death from an overdose and an estimated 400 cases treated

The IT Benefits Risks and Auditing Opportunities from
Jacksonville Jaguars
1. Introduction
The Jacksonville Jaguars National Football League (NFL) was one of the first major sporting
organizations to take advantage of information technology tools to sale snacks and souvenirs in
their stadium.
From 1995 fans of Jacksonville Jaguars can use Spot Cards to buy drinks, snacks and team
souvenirs. In other words, they needn t to use cash and change to pay for these things. The
reloadable Spot Cards, which contain an embedded electronic chip, operate manner similar to other
smart cards such as Kinko s Express Pay cards and many retail establishments including university
student identification cards that are used for fee payment, meal and book purchases, and building
access.
Not only does the Spot Card offer benefits to fans in the stadium, but the use of IT also offers
advantages to stadium vendors by providing better financial information when monitoring their
business. Though SC offers improvement for the fans and vendors, those sales need assurance that
the technology and related information produced is accurate and reliable.
2. Process of IT Payment in Jacksonville Jaguars

Jamaics s Economic Downfall
Initial Conditions
Jamaica approached the International Monetary Fund in 1979 as a result of its chronic balance of
payment issues. This problem was triggered chiefly by the oil crises of the mid seventies and the
bauxite industry s declining revenues. As a result, producers cut production in response to a
Government imposed ban on bauxite as a form of retaliation.
The government then began borrowing at a rapid pace from the Central Bank and overseas
institutions in an attempt to facilitate and maintain previous levels of spending. By 1977, only
US$30 million was available from the US$120 million in 1975 and Government had run out of
reserves after trying unsuccessfully to ration its supply.
A series of controls that were imposed and aimed at stemming the outflow of reserves, simply
resulted in a large parallel foreign exchange market and the government was eventually forced to
devalue the currency.
With the arrival of the 1980 s, Jamaica saw accelerating inflation, falling output, a severe foreign
exchange crisis, and political and social tensions.
Within the five month period between the end of 1987 and May of 1988, there was a 95%
devaluation of the Jamaican dollar. In addition, the external debt increased steadily throughout the
1980s reaching US$4.5 billion in 1989, or equivalent to 125% of GDP.
By the nineties, the situation continued to be unfavorable for Jamaica with balance of payments
problems still existing, depressed growth due to the falling export

Lenovo, being one of the world s top five smart phone makers has a zero market share in the US

Lenovo s biggest business is PCs and it is the world s number 1 PC maker. But the sales of PCs isn

Dust Bowl Refugees In The 1930 s
The 1930 s were a time of tragedy for Midwestern people who lived in the United States,
especially farmers in the Great Plains region. During this time crops perished and winds picked
up causing a massive dust storm to begin. In the course of this catastrophe at least 350,000 Okies
loaded their belongings into cars and trucks and headed to California (Henretta, Hinderaker,
Edwards, and Self 688). Californians were opposed to the arrival of these dust bowlrefugees
because they were competition for California s already limited job market, the refugees were
receiving a large amount of the state s Federal Relief money, and they were causing problems in
society. This essay will start with a little background of the Dust Bowl, explore how Californians...

These dust bowl refugees thought that California could be their salvation and a lot of them
weren t disappointed because the state distributed millions of dollars worth of relief supplies to
dust bowl refugees, ( Kern Will Probe 6) throughout the 1930 s. However, even with these
federal relief programs a numerous amount of these refugees still weren t wealthy by any means
and were at a very low point in their lives looking for any opportunity to stay alive. This alarming
reality lead many of these refugees to commit crimes for money or just to end up in prison
where they would be fed and sheltered. In San Quentin California alone the states of Arkansas,
Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas contributed 882 prisoners, ( Dust Bowl Folks 2) to their state
prison in 3 years. Those refugees accounted for 18 percent of San Quentin State Prison s total
inmate population. In short, this not only put California in a social slump but also an economic
crisis. Thus causing many Californians to be aggravated with the reality that thousands of these
people were coming to live in their home state. Not only were these refugees coming to their
state and committing crime, the state of California and the tax payers were now the ones
responsible for feeding and sheltering these criminals. Most importantly, this responsibility wasn
t cheap, the average cost per year of a prisoner in San Quentin is $215, making a total of
$190,512, ( Dust Bowl Folks 2) according to the Healdsburg Tribune in 1939. Sadly, even those
who didn t resort to crime and came to California with the best of intentions often only caused
problems for Californians. Employment groups and local businesses often had to halt employee
hiring. They wanted to try to make sure that Californian citizens were the ones getting the jobs over
the refugees. However, with the magnitude of people trying to get jobs and the fact that these

Planarian Limbs Experiment
Many organisms easily lose limbs and can grow them back again. Scientists have studied various
organisms that are able to repair damaged body parts, such as lizards, spiders, sponges, and sharks.
These are a few organisms that undergo regeneration with different body parts such as tails, legs,
body divisions, and teeth. The process of regenerationdescribes the replacement, renewal, and
restoration of lost body parts.
Dugesia tigrina are flatworms of the Turbellaria class that can live in saltwater or freshwater
environments (Reddien and Alvarado 2004). These flatworms are also known as planaria and are
notorious for their great ability of regeneration. The purpose of this experiment was to test if the
regrowth of the planarian limbs was affected by light.

Rainforests Have Been Declining Rapidly over the Last Few...
Rainforests have been declining rapidly over the last few decades. There are various factors
responsible for this decline, resulting in serious impacts on the environment and the economy.
Critically discuss the causes of deforestation and solutions to it. Deforestation is the cutting down
of a large area of trees and the destruction of forests by people. Forests are what we call an
exhaustible resource, one which can be used up if it is not used carefully. Over the last few
decades, deforestationhas threatened the rainforests with total extinction. To understand why
deforestation is such an important issue, you first have to understand why trees matter. Trees

In his concept, Adam Smith explains that in a free market no regulation of any type would be
needed to ensure that the mutually beneficial exchange of goods and services can take place, since

Many private agents, according to these studies, have no interest in maintaining the forest s beauty
and biodiversity, as services provided by forests are benefits that cannot be priced, so are not profit
making.
Another factor precipitating deforestation appears to be poverty. Commonly held views argue that
high discount rates received by poor countries are a cause of deforestation (The World Bank
Forestry Policy 1991, Pearce and Watford 1993.). Because forests imply long gestation; private
agents, particularly from the poorest countries, value what they can get immediately from forests
more than what they can get in the future. But in 1999, Ekbom and Bojo challenged those views in
a World Bank examination by showing that poverty does not necessarily lead to shorter time
horizons and an increased rate of environmental degradation. They show how in fact the rural poor
have used resources in a conservationist manner over a long period spanning centuries. Ostrom
(1990), one of the various analysts they quoted, established a number of conditions that would lead
to long term use of common resources despite their short time

October Revolution Problems
Lenin and Problems After the October Revolution
The initial difficulties faced by the new Soviet Union were to severe that its survival seemed almost
miraculous. The remains of the czarist regime left Lenin to face a country wrought with war,
devastated economically.
Russia s involvement in World War I, followed by its Civil War, wide spread famine and a change
in political and social ideology were the problems confronting Lenin after the October Revolution.
Lenin did succeed in ending both the war with Germany and the Civil War for Russia. Yet, the
economic and social aspects of the revolution can be more critically assessed.
Lenin knew the importance of ending Russian involvement in World War I.

As in the case of the World War, a simple end to the fighting did not signify an end to the
devastation that had been left as a consequence.
The economic and social problems that arose from the end of the czarist regime were dealt with by
Lenin initially unsuccessfully. War communism, a forced socialized economic policy began with
the confiscation of surplus grain.
It then extended to all other products. Abusive detachments fought peasant resistance with the
terror of the Red Army, and in 1919 when they gained control, with the Extraordinary Commission
(Cheka). What Lenin had thought would bring the triumph of communism rendered only misery
and disorder. The Kronstadt
Revolt in February, 1921 is an example of the indignation felt by those that saw the Bolshevik s
policies as too oppressive. Finally, Lenin sees that a transition period is necessary, and denounces
war communism for its impractical severity. Up until this point the disastrous economic and social
problems of the nation were not dealt with successfully.
Both World War I and the Civil War left rampant destruction in Russia s agricultural production.
Drought as well as the failure of war communism led to wide spread famine. At this point Lenin
introduced gradual economic measures that began as agricultural policies. According to British
historian E.H. Carr,
Lenin s New Economic Policy increased from food production to trade, to the

Ecological Theory And Social Work
Hospital social work is time limited and the focus could easily be more directed at problems rather
than solutions. Patients enter the hospital with a physical problem and desire to leave with
answers. In this type of environment the focus can be on the physical ailment rather than additional
factors that may be contributing to physical distress. Environmental factors can promote well
being or become a barrier to wellness. An ecological perspective provides a lens to view patient
systems in a broader context.
Ecological perspective is a useful framework in which to view the individual in context with their
environment. According to Rogers (2013) ecological theory was originally developed by a
psychologist, Urie Bronfenbrenner in 1979 (p. 42). A fundamental tenet of ecological theory is that
people are actively involved with their environments and their perceptions of the environment
significantly affects their well being (p. 42).
Ecological theory describes four levels of the environment that interconnect and impact people.
Moving from the most intimate individual system to a broader inclusion you can identify the many
systems that play a role in individual s lives and well being. These interactions could be harmonious
and create homeostasis or could be disharmonious and cause stress.
First, the microsystem level encompasses roles and relationships in a person s immediate
environment (Rogers, 2013, p. 43). For example, Maria s relationships and home living situation

Presidential Election Vs. Presidential Elections
As we approach the final day of the US election, polls show vantage for Clinton, the
representative of the democrat party over Trump, the representative of the republic party so far.
FiveThirtyEight, Nate Silver s predictions and polling data for the 2016 presidential election

44.5% of the popular vote goes for Trump. These popular votes conducted in November 2, 2016.
Clinton and Trump are the only candidates who remained in the race in the final stages representing
their parties after the other candidates lost chances in competition. They have completed all the
three presidential electiondebates and they are about 1 week away from the final day of the US
election. There are few states remained undecided about the future president. The undecided and
changing states are the ones which will determine the wining candidate in the final day of the

factors shape the election results are the campaign events, tactics and the media influence. In this

significantly, its benefits for the rich, Reaganomics jeopardized the welfare of Americans of the
lower class as Reagan s administration cut 60% of funding towards social programs that

Intersectionality And Intersecting Identities
Intersectionality is a concept that is utilized to better understand the dynamics of oppression and
privilege in regards to an individual s identity. Intersectionality is how different identities align and
cross (intersect) to create more identities and experiences. For example, a black woman who is
homosexual must deal with the prejudices and challenge that both of those identities present.
Recognizing and understanding intersectionality is vital for facilitating a beneficial intercultural
dialogue. A beneficial intercultural dialogue can garber a more advanced and open sense of
empathy and knowledge for intersecting identities that an individual may not have had before. This
is due to their position in relation to other individual s identities, positionality, which plays a
significant role in intersectionality.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

our positions in relation to ours and other intersecting identities. An individual s positionality
influences how they perceive and make sense of the world; a standpoint. Individuals who are lower
on the positional hierarchy usually have a better view on the variety of standpoints beyond their
own, as they need these understandings to survive. I, myself, have a variety of identities that
intersect in many different ways. I identify most strongly with my identities in respect to my age,
race, class, and gender. These four identities are the identities that have contributed the most into

Major Advantages And Disadvantages Of An Auto Mechanic...
Review Auto Mechanic Training Programs
If you want to work on cars for a living you ll find it necessary to review auto mechanic training
programs before you embark on the journey. In this article we ll talk about three completely
different paths available for those interested in a career as an automotive technician. In addition, we
ll talk about some of the major advantages and disadvantages of these auto mechanic training
programs.
Keep in mind, you ll need more than a casual love for the automobile to enjoy a career turning
wrenches for a retail auto repair shop. In fact, you might be interested in discovering the
[[downsides of being an auto mechanic]] before signing up for a two year or longer training
program. We also provide a relevant... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although we ve talked about one particular school there s other facilities that offer similar training.
A friend of mine started his career at an operation called [[Lincoln Technical Institute]]. Since these
are hands on schools, the one you choose often becomes a geographical decision.
Online General Automotive Training
You can learn to do just about anything online. Fixing cars is included in this web based
alternative method of training. As you might suspect, I feel this type of program offers less value
than the other types of auto mechanic training programs. With that said, this doesn t mean I feel
these type of schools offer no value. In fact, it s just the opposite.
These online learning facilities offer comprehensive automotive training without the benefit of
hands on experience. However, the price tag becomes a small fraction of the costs associated with
the other programs throughout this article. This allows students to dive in and start learning
without a major investment. This online opportunity provides students the ability to see if an auto
mechanic career is right for

American Children Should Be Banned
American businesses are prone to using children to advertise their products. Wether or not it
should be banned, depends on the company s intentions. There are good and bad people in the
marketing industry. The way children think or respond to what they are promoting is their
decision. Children s brains are developing, and many kid s do not know the difference between
right or wrong. The only way using a child to advertise could be harmful, would be if they are
promoting violence. Many children advertise new toy s, clothing, breakfast foods, and new
television series etc. In that, depending on the humor, cast, and genre could you label it harmful, or
not. Both passages mention that it is only a money making industry, for both the business

Why Is Jonbenet Ramsey Important
JonBenet Ramsey Annotated Bibliography Several huge and important celebrities have had
mysterious deaths. What happened? Was it an accident? Did someone kill them? If so, who killed
them? These are all important questions to think of when thinking of such a death. I researched
JonBenet Ramsey, a beauty pageant queen, whom was gorgeous, talented, and young. December
26, 1996, she was found murdered in the basement of her own home. The cause of deathwas
suffocation. According to policereports, JonBenet was found in the small room covered with a
blanket, her wrists were tied above her head, her mouth was covered with tape, and a nylon cord
was wrapped around her neck . There were also signs of sexual assault before she had been
murdered. In fact, that there was a possibility of her having been sexually assaulted more than
just right before her death. The prime suspects for the case were, of course, her parents. A note
was left behind prior to the finding of the body, stated that if the Ramsey s wanted to see their
daughter again that they would have to attain $ 1118,000 from Mr. Ramsey s account. This note
was obviously not honored , asbecause JonBenet s body was found around 30 minutes after the note
was left.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, on August 17, 2006, an article stating that a man named, John Mark Karr, was
responsiblerealized. He had admitted to the murder of JonBenet. This seemed strange to his wife,
whom had sworn that the time of JonBenet s murder he was with his family. He had said that him
and JonBenet had been in love and that her murder was an accident. Later, evidence was found
proving the innocence of John Karr through DNA data collected of JonBenet s body. He s still in
custody however, due to the fact that he has been in possessionposition of child

Examples Of Dido In The Aeneid
A prime example of a relationship that holds the stability of a society on its shoulders in The
Aeneid is between Dido (Queen of Carthage) and the Carthaginian people. We first encounter Dido
in Book One, when Aeneas and Achates are wandering through Carthage, shrouded by cloud. Virgil
describes, Dido walked happily with the throng around her, intent on hastening the work for her
future realm, telling us that as a Queen, she devoted to her city and loved by her subjects. This
description of Didowalking around Carthagestarkly contrasts with Virgil s passage in Book four
describing her walking through the city, after Dido s heart has been inflamed by cupid s arrow
with passion for Aeneas. Virgil writes, Dido as on fire with love and wandering... Show more

It was seen as an uncontrollable sickness; a good Roman woman would take a pre approved,
appropriate husband not a man she was in love with. It is for this reason we can begin to
understand Virgil s viewpoint on the situation. In her attempt to help Aeneas, Venus
inadvertently cuts all ties Dido had with her people. Venus weapon of choice: love. Once the
graceful, level headed queen was infected by cupid s arrow, she became irrational and
irresponsible with only Aeneas in mind, breaking the relationship she had with her subjects.
Dido laments, Because of (Aeneas) I have lost all self respect and my good name, my only hope
of reaching the stars, an example of the inner conflict caused by a breakdown in relationship.
Once compared to the exceptionally beautiful Diana, Virgil s last description of Dido before her
suicide is as follows; Her eyes were reddening and rolling... and she was pale with the pallor of
imminent death. This character breakdown provides the audience with excellent evidence of how
love (due to the interference from the gods) ruined Dido, and subsequently the strong relationship
she had once fostered with her

The Influence Of The Pick Mix Concept
When consumers buy products from a retail shop, they tend to opt to shop the products from a
brand that they have trust in and that is a familiar brand. This means consumers prefer to select a
recognised brand rather than choosing cheaper products or less familiar ones, even if the branded
product has the same quality as the generic products (Goworek McGoldrick, 2015). Thus, brand
awareness is a very important factor that can bring a brand power in connection with people s
mind set. However, it might prove hard to create a high brand awareness for the Pick Mix concept
that in general have a low recognition factor, since this is applied a little different from other retail
products in the retail shop. Also, the Pick Mix concept is that... Show more content on

Currently, Cloetta has its own brand name for the Pick Mix concept; Godisfavoriter for candies
which means candy favorites and Natursnack for nuts which means natural snack (Cloetta,
2015). It should be examined how much of an effect these names have on consumers brand
awareness. If consumers look at these names in the retail shop for example, in Coop, it will
hardly remind them that Cloetta is connected with these names. Kapferer (2012) points out that
[a] brand is not the name of a product. It is the vision that drives the creation of products and
services under that name. That vision, the key belief of the brand and its core value is called
identity (p149). In this point of view, there is a key issue of how the brand names of Cloetta s
Pick Mix concepts can provide the image to consumers so they can perceive Cloetta s brand as
having a unique value by selecting their brand. By comparison with their main competitor Candy
King s Pick Mix, they have the name Karamellkungen which is the same name translated into
Swedish as their company name and same logo as domestically and internationally. By doing this,
they deliver a more distinct vision of their brand connected with the core brand and it can render
some positive brand image effects on consumer s

Abstract
The adsorption potential of two clays namely Kaolinite (KAO) and Metakaolinite (MKB) for the
removal of copper (II) ions from aqueous solution was investigated. The chemical and
morphological characterization of KAO and MKB were carried out using X Ray diffraction (XRD),

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the acceptable limit dose of copper (II)
ions in drinking water approved is 2.0 mg/L. Therefore, the removal of copper (II) ions from
wastewater is urgent before their rejection into the environment in order to preserve public
health and environmental disorder. Thus it has been a matter of concern of several researches in
recent years. Copper (II) ions can be removed from wastewater by using different techniques
including chemical coagulation, ion exchange, solvent extraction and adsorption. Among these
above cited techniques, adsorption is the mostly appreciated due to its easier protocol, efficiency
and low operation cost. In matter of fact, several adsorbents such as clays [4 5], wheat shells [6],
bagasse fly ash [7], modified goethite [8] and metakaolin based geopolymer [9] have been used
for this purpose. A particular attention had been paid to clays which are available, cheaper and
possessed interesting chemical and mechanical properties. Additionally, clay minerals have
different adsorption capacities for metal ions. They have been found to be very effective,
economical and versatile [10]. In the scientific literature, several studies have been reported on
kaolinite clay for adsorption of heavy metals from aqueous solutions [4, 11]. In this present work, a
natural kaolinite (KAO) and its thermal treatment form, metakaolinite (MKB) were

for a career revolving around homeland security. My plans have since been adjusted due to the
area that we are now relocating. We were initially going to a major metropolis in Texas, but now we

initial path. I m now planning on completing my bachelors in homeland security and emergency
management and then pursuing a degree in cybersecurity, often referred to as information security.

Examples Of Constitutional Compromises
The United States Constitutional Convention brought many conflicts that were solved by
compromises conducted by the United State s government. Among these many compromises, a few
key examples are The Great Compromise, the Commerce Compromise, and the Slave Trade
Compromise. All of these are perfect examples that fit within this year s National History Day
topic, Conflict and Compromise in History .
As previously stated, The Great Compromise was one of the most critical compromises of this time
period. The United States Government was attempting to provide a solution for how each state
was going to be represented within Congress. At first, they had come up with two plans. The
Virginia Plan and The New Jersey Plan . The Virginia Plan , was the decision of numbers of
representatives a state can have in Congress. The decision was that the number of representatives

representatives. This is the plan of having an equal amount of representatives from each state. The
House of Representatives, also known as The House , will have the number of representatives
based on the states population. The Senate is based off The New Jersey Plan , and The House is

Preliminary Ruling Procedures
Enforcing the European Union legal system is diverse and done on multiple platforms; through
not only actions taken against member states for breach of their obligations, but also, for example,
through the use of direct effect1. Article 267 TFEU; an organism devised to practice private
enforcement of EU law before national courts, has been critical to ensure uniform interpretation
and application of EU law in member states. References for preliminary rulings occur when the
national courts are presented with a question of EU law due to uncertainty of the provision. The
national court will therefore make a reference to the Court of Justice (COJ) to obtain a preliminary
rulingon any point of EU law relevant to the proceedings 2. In... Show more content on

Under Art. 267, only court or tribunal of a member state may initiate preliminary reference to the
ECJ, however through succeeding case law this has been expanded by allowing entities whose
members may not be judges, provided that those entities have the power to adjudicate disputes
12. This concept of a court or tribunal has been interpreted widely as it is a matter of union law13.
The Advocate General in De Coster14 criticised the court s approach and criteria to the
interpretation as he deemed it confusing. The court in this instance accepted the reference, as it was
a permanent body established in law, that it gives legal rulings and that the jurisdiction is
compulsory 15. The court in further cases has treated tribunals as not only tax appeal like in the
case above but also; customs, social security and immigration.
Despite the president of the ECJ optimism concerning caseload, there are still many issues
present. For example, the commission celebrates reducing the average duration of proceedings,
however fails to note the employment of 10 judges. There has been a dramatic rise in the number
of cases since the first referral in 1961, increasing from 1 to 38516. This is the highest level in the
history of the ECJ. Critics argue that this heavy workload has an adverse impact on the

The Admin Curse Short Story
The Admin Curse
Long ago, a few years after the Ender Plague, Creator Notch had finally completed the creation
of the majority of the Worlds of Minecraftia. He had created it to be large enough for numerous
players to roam about and live in it. He had become content with his creation, but he could not
watch over every part of it by himself. He needed a form of assistance.
Notch had handpicked a group of players who exemplified an excellent leading ability to assist him
in the supervision of each section of the World of Minecraftia. This group preferred to call
themselves administrators of these sections, or Admins for short. They spent many years carefully
watching over each section of Minecraftia.
The Admins had decided to elect a secondary leader who would answer directly to Notch and
inform the other Admins of his requests. This would make the administration of Minecraftia more
efficient. Notch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The armies marched across the Worlds of Minecraftia, cursing the land with Adminium as they
marched. The Admin Armies had entered many sections uncharted by players and quickly invaded
and took over these sections, enslaved the resident mobs to do the Leader s bidding, and began to
terraform the land to build the Leader s Admin Towers. The Admins had soon created an empire,
and the Admin Leader was their ruler.
After thinking long and hard about the future of his empire, the Admin Leader decided that his
army was not enough as it was. He needed more Admin Creations to join his ranks. He would do
this without a second thought, but one problem arose: there were very few players left within
Minecraftia, and what few remained went into hiding where the Admin Leader could not find them.
For the future of his empire, he needed to find these players so that he could transform

The Effect Of Post Discharge Mur And Nms Service
This research was performed in order to investigate the processes relating to the post discharge
MUR and NMS service and to ascertain if they were believed to impact on the patients health
outcome. It was carried out using questionnaires, distributed by hand to community pharmacists in
three boroughs of South West London. The aim of the questionnaire was to achieve a rapid
response from a diverse range of community pharmacies. This study had a response rate of 50% (59
out 118 questionnaires were received back) which was lower than originally expected. It would
appear that one of the main reasons could be attributed to time restraints of the role as many
pharmacists identified that they did not have the time to complete the questionnaire. To further
compound the lower than expected completion rate, some of the pharmacists approached were
locum pharmacists who were reluctant to participate on the basis of their limited knowledge of the
way that particular pharmacyfunctioned and their lack of familiarity with the community
surrounding the pharmacy in which they were working. Another factor which contributed to the
low response rate was that some of the returned questionnaires were not fully completed and
therefore could not be included in the data analysis.
100% of the respondents provided MUR and NMS services and just over half of the participants
52%, provided post discharge MUR/NMS. It was found from the responses that it is consistently
difficult to identify post

Duality Between Nature and Society in The Tempest
One of the essential themes of The Tempest is the duality between nature and society. This is made
evident through the character of Caliban: the disfigured fish like creature that inhabits the island
upon which the play takes place. Caliban lacks civility because he was born on the island deprived
of any social or spiritual morality other than nature and instinct. He is literally man untamed.
Caliban is not monstrous simply for the sake of being frightening; his ghastly appearance is
intended to literally depict the essential differences between civilization and natural instinct.

These are present because life is easier with rules like this. Human beings no longer had to
worry about being killed or being looted as much as long as they were within the confines of a
civilization. People started to be able to take up specialized professions and be able to count on
other people to perform tasks such as carpentry, cooking, etc. Governments were formed to
organize the people and efficiently run a civilization. Now the individual was not responsible for
every aspect of survival but contributed to the overall survival of a civilization. From this
economies were born either through trade or currency. However, the cornerstones of human
civilizations (money and power) have lead to a whole new form of evil and brutality that was
never present in nature. Its almost of a blind perversion of human nature. Through bettering our
situation, we have corrupted ourselves to an extent (greed). Civilization can produce more savage
and evil beings than nature. While Caliban is perceived as being evil and monstrous, he really is
not. He just does not know any better. However, Antonio is much more malicious than Caliban
because he knows what he has done is evil This goes back to the concept of nature vs. society.
Caliban is Shakespeare s representation of natural instinct and how it collides with society. Of
course Caliban could have simply been a man raised in nature,

  • 2. Literary Analysis of A White Heron Literature Analysis Part 1 Throughout the history Fiction has been used by many writers to emphasize on environment and the importance it has in our lives. A White Heron , is a great example of how an article can effectively grip the attention of the reader and delivering a vital message at the same time. On the other hand fact based articles are based on truth, research and years of hard work but unfortunately most of the time they fail to capture the common reader proving interesting to only subject area experts or environmentalists. A White Heron written in 1886 is about a girl who comes to her grandmother s house in the country side she falls in love with the nature and after some time adjusts in the new surroundings. Being familiarized with the surroundings, a hunter offers her a considerable reward for finding a Heron for his personal collection. Being human she agrees to find the bird and accompanies the hunter but fails to find the heron. Later on she goes alone and finds the bird s nest by climbing on the tallest tree, this in turn reignites her love and passion for the nature and the thought of helping the hunter and killing of the Heron becomes cynical. She keeps it a secret and Hunter goes back without his prize. (Jewett, 2009) On the other hand Reducing, harmful, drilling and mining is an article that emphasizes on the use of coal in fulfilling our energy needs and the impact coal drilling and mining has on the environment of the surrounding areas. • 3. The Confederate Of Hypocrites Character Analysis The Confederacy of Hypocrites John Kennedy Toole killed himself after his book, The Confederacy of Dunces, was rejected by a number of publishers. It wasn t until after he died that the book came to Walker Percy, who pushed for its publication. In the foreword for the book, Percy calls the book sad, he says one never quite knows where the sadness comes from from the tragedy at the heart of Ignatius s great gaseous rages and lunatic adventures or the tragedy attending the book itself (Percy ix). Though not obvious, the book offers evidence to suggest that the sadness does have a root in Ignatius s great gaseous rages and lunatic adventure[s] and has nothing to do with the author s suicide, as tragic as that may be. The book is a critique of ordinary society s shortcomings but subsequently offers no solution or example of redemption. Toole s main tool for conveying his critique is through his main character, Ignatius J. Reilly, a pretentious, lazy, slob, whom stumbles from page to page in the book centering the entire plot around his grotesque self. Through the characterization of Ignatius and his interactions with society around him, The Confederacy illustrates a phenomenon in which people s outward judgements become... Not all of the ways humans have been affecting the cycle have been negative, but the vast majority have been. One key thing that has human activity that has been disrupting the nitrogen cycle is the burning of fossil fuel. This burning releases carbon into the air at unnatural rate, and thus alters the amount of nitrogen in the atmosphere. This has had far reaching effects that no one first thought of and is now affecting the plant and animals in Acadia National Park. Another human activity that has increased massively over the past few years is industrial nitrogen fixation. This process is used to create fertilizer with high amount of nitrogen in it. ... • 5. A Fine Balance [GRABBER] Cultural artifacts are items that give information about the culture or society of the humans that created it. With insight to the attributes of a society, life is memorialized and proved existent. Literature, likewise, can be a cultural artifact, as the compositions are both social evidence and testimony. A Fine Balanceby Rohinton Mistrygives historical insight and evidence, describing the culture of life in India. Both the corruption of power and the sufferings of the people spread across the pages. Written by an Indian born Canadian, the events are gruesomely true and have the purpose to educate and create more empathetic readers. Initially, Dina Dalal is not worried about the Emergency, she feels that since she is in the middle class she has nothing to worry about: [The Emergency is] government problems games played by people in power. It doesn t affect ordinary people like us (83). However, immediately after the plan affects her personally, by de housing the tailors, she changes her mind: It s terrible, government makes laws without thinking ... the government should let homeless people sleep on the pavements. Then my tailors wouldn t have disappeared (431). Dina represents what many of the callous middle class citizens of Bombay feel: unworried until personally threatened. Also sharing displeased emotions with the government is Avinash who is part of the student body within the city. Students like Avinash are similarly subversive, fighting for better conditions in college, but more importantly for India. Avinash reveals that the fundamental rights have been suspended, most of the opposition is under arrest, and ... [that] the press is being censored (285). Although this group of students have more opportunities than many other, lower class, citizens, they are just as restless. Sephardic Jewish Pirates and the Caribbean Connection Leeba Freund Mrs. Cohen Jewish History December 17, 2010 Sephardic Jewish Pirates the Caribbean Connection If you plan on touring the island of Jamaica, you may be interested in visiting the oldest Jewish cemetery, Hunt s Bay cemetery, near Kingston. Kingston has a Jewish community dating back to the 1600s. What you will find in this cemetery may astonish you: typical Jewish gravestones with a Hebrew inscription. But that is not the unusual part; in the corner of some gravestones, you ll see carved pictures of skulls and crossbones. What are crossbones doing in a Jewish cemetery? Hence, the title Portugal in all the Spanish Colonies became synonymous with New Christians or Marranos. Though the New World was under Spanish rule, the Crown turned a blind eye to the secret Jewish communities sprouting up in every new colony. The Jews played it safe, changing their names and feigning devotion to the Catholic religion, all the while building an economic empire of international trade throughout South and Central America, the Caribbean Sea and European waters of the Mediterranean. SPAINAS A WORLD POWER As Spanish conquistadors conquered and settled land after land in the New World, jewelry from the natives and mines of silver and gold poured into the Spanish treasury from the Incas. Sugar, coffee, bananas, tobacco and other profitable crops that thrived in the warm climate of the Caribbean islands, Central America and South America, filled ship after Spanish ship with an abundance of wealth from the new colonies. As Spain s treasury filled, other European nations had their eyes on the golden mine of New World treasures. While the Spanish conquistadors conquered land, plundered the natives and terrorized their women, the Marranos dedicated themselves to settling the new lands and creating a safe world for them to live in. Yet watching Season Five, Episode Twenty, a viewer could grow uncomfortable at the racial generalizations. The shows critiques and demonizes women specifically, which, in this setting, is deeply intertwined with class through their use of the Bravo wink. Bravo winks when it showcases the irony in a scene for the viewer. Bravo executive, Andy Cohen, explained the practice as, Trying to let the audience in on the fun of the story. We wink at the audience when someone says, I m the healthiest person in the world and then you see them ashing their cigarette ( For Housewives, p. AR24). The fun Cohen describes is setting up cultural expectations of gender and class behavior only to have them violated so the audience can laugh at the housewives shortcomings as both socialites and mothers. The Real Housewives franchise is already self aware enough to be a show about, rich women to crass to be classy, too superficial to be nurturing and too self obsessed to be caring (Lee and Moscowitz, p. 64). Because of this reflexive critique, 30 Rock s criticism is of race and the medium of reality television is more poignant the violation of the expectation of class from the elite is already ridiculed. • 8. The National Aeronautics And Space Administration Essay Since the dawn of time, the human race has gazed up at the stars, in both wonder and amazement. Curiosity is one of the best traits that humanity possesses. It serves to drive us forward and seek a more efficient way of using our skills that are unique to us. We as humans continued to evolve through the millennia, and so too did our intelligence and understanding of our small world. We began to socialize and congregate. We formed small tribes near local water sources as we left our caves. This would spark some of the first cases of conflict among the human race damning us with a future littered with warfare as we created a society of haves and have nots as nations and empires rose and fell. This remains true even today, but our desire to explore and increase our knowledge has never diminished. With that being said, we must re evaluate the established paradigm that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration s (NASA) role in the Cold War. NASA did not exist for the sole purpose to beat the Soviet Union into space and establish a monopoly of power in space. This was a byproduct. NASA s genesis was a genuine intention to increase the knowledge of mankind. In many ways NASA can be seen as a miracle of mankind because it was born out of a state of war, but evolved into an organization shaped for peace and discovery. By looking at NASA, it is an exemption from the warlike nature of the Cold War. We can observe this evolution from its wartime genesis, and its transition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper will seek to answer, the question of aggression being a byproduct of anger and thereby a negative emotion or if aggression is an impulse derived from survival instincts. For the intent of this paper, the definition of aggressionthat will be used throughout this work is derived from that article by Ben Karpman titled Aggression , published in the 1950 October edition of the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry. One of the most common causes of aggression and thereby the most notable is the intergroup bias. The intergroup bias is simply the tendency [people] have to cooperate with in group members and aggress ... out group members (Mifune et al. 1). A group of researchers and psychologists conducted an experiment on the intergroup biases in fear induced aggression. This experiment composed by Nobuhiro Mifune, Simunovic Dora, and Yamagishi Toshio. They published their results in the scholarly journal Frontiers in Psychology , in January of this year. They utilized a primary strike game which enabled them to create situations in which they could test for reasons for the aggressive behavior. Their experiment revealed that aggression is, likely consequences of real intergroup conflicts over tangible resources, moral righteousness, or a history of continuous fighting between groups (Mifune et al. 2). Additionally, they found that the majority of the aggressors acted not out of spite but out of fear based self defense (Mifune et al. 6). Anecdotally there are a few other causes of aggression worth noting. We can prove that the function F(n) satisfies the propertyP: в€ Ђkв€€N,F(2^k )≤4^(k+1)*F(0)+S_k, where S_k is the k^th term of a sequence of integers гЂ–(S_m)гЂ—_(m=0)^(+в€ ћ) that we will calculate later: The case of k=0 is correct, because we have F(2^0 )≤4^1*F(0)+1, which means S_0=1. We suppose that the case of k=m is correct, where mв€€N, which means F(2^m )≤4^(m+1)*F(0)+S_m. From this, we have F(2^(m+1) )≤4*F(2^m )+2^(m+1)≤4*(4^(m+1)*F(0)+S_m )+2^(m+1)=4^(m+2)*F(0)+гЂ–4*SгЂ—_m+2^(m+1). As a result, the case of k=m+1 is correct and S_(m+1)=гЂ–4*SгЂ—_m+2^(m+1). Consequently, we have proved the property P by induction and meanwhile we obtain two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We replace S_m and S_(m+1) with X_m and X_(m+1) in the equation (1), we obtain в€ Ђmв€€N,4^(m+1)*X_(m+1)=4*(4^m*X_m )+2^(m+1)в џ№ X_(m+1) X_m=гЂ–(1/2)гЂ—^(m+1). SinceгЂ– SгЂ—_0=X_0, we have X_0=1. We can easily deduce that в€ Ђmв€€N,X_(m+1)=X_m+(1/2)^(m+1)=(X_(m 1)+(1/2)^m )+(1/2)^(m+1)=в‹ Ї=1+(1 /2)^2+в‹Ї+(1/2)^(m+1)=2*(1 1/2^(m+2) ). As a result, в€ Ђmв€€N,X_m=2*(1 1/2^(m+1) ) and гЂ–в€ Ђmв€€N,Sг Ђ—_m=4^m*2*(1 1/2^(m+1) ). Finally, we can say that в€ Ђkв€€N,F(2^k )≤4^(k+1)*F(0)+4^k*2*(1 1/2^(k+1) ). We replace 2^k with n, the inequality becomes в€ Ђn=2^k,kв€€N,F(n)≤(4*F(0)+2)*n^2 n. So far, we have found a function G(n)=(4*F(0)+2)*n^2 n that we can safely say G(n)≥F(n) at some points (when n=2^k,kв€€N) instead of at all points. To illustrate G(n)в‰ ҐF(n) on all points which means G(n) really is an upper bound function of F(n), we can use a software like Matlab to calculate the closest upper bound (it is marked as real bound in the figure 1) we can obtain from the initial inequality and compare it to the function ... The Truth About the Music Industry Essay Music is universally known as an expression of emotion, rebellion against the man, a way of life, a random collection of sounds, an annoying thing kids listen to, or even a vacation from everything, but in reality music is free of all definition. The industry involved in buying, selling and recording of music has grown so old, treacherous, and ignorant that it can not figure out the steps it needs to evolve with the rapidly expanding music industry. Musicians and fans alike are screaming about the dire need of some modern day innovation in the market. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a band we have done some research of studio time and what it costs to have a record published and sold in stores. I understand that music is hard to make a living off of because its hard enough to just pay for the things your band needs and that record labels lose a lot of money in trying to finance an album that has such a high chance of failure. But major Record labels are creating a monopoly of the music industry which limits the innovation and advancement other minor labels or musicians could provide by taking away competition. The market is dominated by the Big Three (Sony, Warner Music Group, and Universal Music Group) who continuously buy out competition and all have many smaller companies who have front names to cover up the fact that they are owned by the larger corporation. Ten years ago there were five major companies that controlled the market place, in the beginning of 2005 Sony and BMG, Bertelsmann Music Group, decided to form a 50/50 partnership that would spread worldwide. Together they controlled a vast majority of American music and the only place in the world that was not apart of this corporation was Japan because the business would be affected too much. Then in 2008 BMG announced that they were not going to renew the contract because of falling sales which would have been really bad for Sony financially, so they decided to buy BM s portion of the company for 1.2 billion, which included all of BMG s record ... Documenting your injury in the following ways can help you win your case in court and receive the compensation you deserve. With over 14,000 employees, serving 70 countries worldwide and net sales of $6.6 billon, Hershey has come out on top. The Hershey company began in 1894 by Milton Hershey. The company has over 8 factories, but their main headquarters resides in Pennsylvania. The beloved Hershey milk chocolate bar has been a favorite by many, but would it still be if more people knew how it came to be that? One of chocolates main ingredients is cocoa. Cocoa, or cocoa beans come from tropical areas around the world, but is mostly found on the Ivory Coast in West Africa. Hershey, along with Mars and Nestle are the three major companies that buy their cocoa from West Africa, but with further investigation, it has been known that over 4,400 children work on those cocoa farms that they buy from. Hershey has bought and produced tons of chocolate for over 50 years that has had the blood, sweat and tears of the not only the children on the Ivory Coast, but the adults as well. The way that Hershey has been able to sell to their consumers with very low prices on all their products is because they buy from the cocoa farms that have child slaves. Many of which were taken from their homes, sold or needed to provide for their families. They would come work for cocoa farmers and get paid little to nothing. Wage inequality, or the gender pay gap, is generally discussed as a broad problem affecting all women. However, this broad approach often leaves out marginalized women, such as women of color, poor women, trans women, queer women, and immigrant women, who experience wage inequality at disproportionately higher rates than women who are not marginalized in these ways. The same lack of intersectional focus colors discussions of sex work, which typically promote a victim/empowered woman dichotomy that fails to account for the nuanced factors in place affecting women of color, trans women, and immigrant women. The use of the phrase domestic labor refers to work done within the home, particularly childcare, elderly care, and the upkeep of the household. In her chapter Industrialization, Wage Labor, and the Economic Gender Gap , Estelle Freedman describes historically feminized fields of work that include other types of labor, such as industrial work in textile mills, retail, clerical, and teaching jobs. When referring to sex work, Laura Agustin uses the term in Migrants in the Mistress s House to encompass everything from prostitution, sexual services in bars, clubs, and flats, erotic phone sex, peep shows, massage parlors, and lap dancing (110). However, she often does not differentiate between sex work and domestic work because migrants often move between these sectors or work in two at once, and because a separation into two groups reproduces a scheme of good versus bad girls (97). This problem was triggered chiefly by the oil crises of the mid seventies and the bauxite industry s declining revenues. As a result, producers cut production in response to a Government imposed ban on bauxite as a form of retaliation. The government then began borrowing at a rapid pace from the Central Bank and overseas institutions in an attempt to facilitate and maintain previous levels of spending. By 1977, only US$30 million was available from the US$120 million in 1975 and Government had run out of reserves after trying unsuccessfully to ration its supply. A series of controls that were imposed and aimed at stemming the outflow of reserves, simply resulted in a large parallel foreign exchange market and the government was eventually forced to devalue the currency. With the arrival of the 1980 s, Jamaica saw accelerating inflation, falling output, a severe foreign exchange crisis, and political and social tensions. Within the five month period between the end of 1987 and May of 1988, there was a 95% devaluation of the Jamaican dollar. Commonly held views argue that high discount rates received by poor countries are a cause of deforestation (The World Bank Forestry Policy 1991, Pearce and Watford 1993.). Finally, Lenin sees that a transition period is necessary, and denounces war communism for its impractical severity. Up until this point the disastrous economic and social problems of the nation were not dealt with successfully. Both World War I and the Civil War left rampant destruction in Russia s agricultural production. Drought as well as the failure of war communism led to wide spread famine. At this point Lenin introduced gradual economic measures that began as agricultural policies. According to British historian E.H. Carr, Lenin s New Economic Policy increased from food production to trade, to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Ecological Theory And Social Work Hospital social work is time limited and the focus could easily be more directed at problems rather than solutions. Patients enter the hospital with a physical problem and desire to leave with answers. In this type of environment the focus can be on the physical ailment rather than additional factors that may be contributing to physical distress. Environmental factors can promote well being or become a barrier to wellness. An ecological perspective provides a lens to view patient systems in a broader context. Ecological perspective is a useful framework in which to view the individual in context with their environment. According to Rogers (2013) ecological theory was originally developed by a psychologist, Urie Bronfenbrenner in 1979 (p. 42). A fundamental tenet of ecological theory is that people are actively involved with their environments and their perceptions of the environment significantly affects their well being (p. 42). Ecological theory describes four levels of the environment that interconnect and impact people. Moving from the most intimate individual system to a broader inclusion you can identify the many systems that play a role in individual s lives and well being. These interactions could be harmonious and create homeostasis or could be disharmonious and cause stress. First, the microsystem level encompasses roles and relationships in a person s immediate environment (Rogers, 2013, p. 43). For example, Maria s relationships and home living situation ... These popular votes conducted in November 2, 2016. They have completed all the three presidential electiondebates and they are about 1 week away from the final day of the US election. There are few states remained undecided about the future president. The undecided and changing states are the ones which will determine the wining candidate in the final day of the elections. My prediction for the US election result is that Clinton is going to win the race. The factors shape the election results are the campaign events, tactics and the media influence. In this paper, I am going to discuss how these two factors are contributing in Clinton campaign then I will propose a strategy for Trump to help him wining the race. The administration also proved to be detrimental to the citizens in the urban area with budget cuts to federal legal services for the poor as well as decreased funding for public transportation and the eliminated anti poverty programs such as the Community Development Block program. When Reagan first came into office, city budgets used over 20 percent of federal funding but towards 1988, it decreased to 6 percent. Therefore, the removal of copper (II) ions from wastewater is urgent before their rejection into the environment in order to preserve public health and environmental disorder. Thus it has been a matter of concern of several researches in recent years. Copper (II) ions can be removed from wastewater by using different techniques including chemical coagulation, ion exchange, solvent extraction and adsorption. Among these above cited techniques, adsorption is the mostly appreciated due to its easier protocol, efficiency and low operation cost. In matter of fact, several adsorbents such as clays [4 5], wheat shells [6], bagasse fly ash [7], modified goethite [8] and metakaolin based geopolymer [9] have been used for this purpose. The aim of the questionnaire was to achieve a rapid response from a diverse range of community pharmacies. This study had a response rate of 50% (59 out 118 questionnaires were received back) which was lower than originally expected.
