3. An Overview of Educational
Technology 2
-Educational technology 2 is concern with
“ Integrating Technology into Teaching
and learning”. Specially focused on :
- Introducing
- Reinforcing
- Supplementing
-Extending the knowledge and skills to
Learners.
4. Educational Technology 2 has a set of
Identifiable Goals such as:
-To provide education in the use of
technology in instruction.
-To inculcate Higher-Level thingking
and creativity.
-To acquaint students on IT related
learning theories with the computer as
a tutor.
5. Bridging the
Generation Gap-The Older generation
often feels there is a
generation gap between
them and the younger
generation, things like
dressing and socializing.
- Even in Education,
traditional schooling has
hardly changed even with
clear evidence of digital
world.
6. Alvin Toffler’s book. Future shock,
shows how the information age has
begun to create many cultural changes.
-Complacency of
Educators to stick to
traditional education
system and approaches
become futile.
-Technology supported
skills need to be taught
in schools today.
9. Information Fluency
Involves 3 subsets
of skills:
-An ability to access
information.
-An ability to retrieve
information.
-An ability to reflect
on.
13. Digital Ethics
The digital citizen is
guided by principles
of leadership, goal
resposibility, environ-
mental awarenes,
global citizenship,
and personal
accountability.
15. CREATING – new
product
EVALUATING –
justify stand or
position
ANALYZING –
distinguish different
parts
APPLYING–use
information to a new
way
UNDERSTANDING
– explain ideas
REMEMBERING –
recall information
Bloom’s Taxonomy
16. By developing higher thinking skills, the
schools today can inculcate the digital fluency,
while overcoming limitations inherent in
digital technology, resulting in superficial and
mediocre learning skills of new learners.
-Reflection activities - Small group activities
-Discussion forums - Digital story-telling
The role of technology in developing
Higher Order Thingking Skills of the
students
17. The Computer as the Teacher’s Tool
The computer as the teacher’s handy-tool. It can in
fact support the constructivist and social constructivist
paradigms of learning.
*Constructivist (Piaget 1981 & Bruner 1990)-
gave stress to knowledge discovery.
*Social Constructivism- show social,historical
and cultural context.
18. The computers Capability
The teacher can employ the computer as a/an:
*Constructive tool- the computer it self can be used
for manipulating information, visualizing
one’s understanding, and building new knowledge.
*Co-constructive tool- can be used to work
cooperatively and construct a shared understanding
Of new knowledge.
*Situating tool- can be used to create 3D images on
display to give the user the feeling that are situated in
virtual environment.
19. The Impact of Technology to the
Teaching-Learning Process
*Students produce higher academic achievements.
*Students learn quickly and with greater retention.
*Time and Distance are no longer hindrance when it
comes to teaching-learning development.
*Technology available provides teachers with
differentiated instruction.
*Technology gives a teacher options in how he/she will
reach the students.
*Bridging the gap between students
interest and teachers knowledge.
21. We are living in the 21st century millenium. Where young
one’s are so called “Generation Z”. Where the system of simple
living is quickly vanishing, and where the technology captured us.
One of the biggest question to myself is how can you consider
yourslef as an literate enough after knowing the Educational
Technology 2.
The accurate speed of changing in the society leads critical
condition especially in the education. Educational Technology 2
teached us how to enhanced our capacity and creativity on how we
will deliver the instructions to the learners. I’ve learned that as a
Future Teacher we must know how to adjust to the academic
demands of teaching using the technology to encourage the students
to contribute their learnings after the disscussion. As well as, using
educational technology promotes opportunity to seek information to
the video, images and sound presentation, enhance critical thinking
and collaborative learning. Further more I’ve learned a lot in
developing basic digital skills which is the six fluency skills. I can say
that being literate is not just knowing how to read and write.
