Baker studied architecture in Birmingham and graduated in 1937, aged 20, in a period of political unrest for Europe.During the Second World War, he served in the Friends Ambulance Unit in China and Burma. He worked as an architect for an international and interdenominational Mission dedicated to the care of those suffering from leprosy. He focused on converting or replacing asylums once used to house the ostracized sufferers of the disease - "lepers".He Used indigenous architecture and methods of these places as means to deal with his once daunting problems.
Baker's designs invariably have traditional Indian sloping roofs and terracotta Mangalore tile shingling with gables and vents allowing rising hot air to escape curved walls to enclose more volume at lower material cost than straight walls.Designing and building low cost, high quality, beautiful homes
Suited to or built for lower-middle to lower class clients.
Irregular, pyramid-like structures on roofs, with one side left open and tilting into the wind.Brick jali walls, a perforated brick screen which utilises natural air movement to cool the home's interior and create intricate patterns of light and shadow.

Mithila Art - Reincarnated from the rubbles of an earthquake.pdfAbir Pothi
“In the best art there is an inescapable element of strangeness, the sense of a novel wonder, a mystery burning at the heart of life, and it is the strangeness this incandescence which above all the painting of Mithila transmits”. The overwritten statement is the words William G. Archer chose to end his article on Mithila art titled ‘Mithila Painting’ which was published in 1949 in Marg Vol. 3, No. 3. This article grabbed the public attention towards Mithila painting. Archer gave a detailed account of the social and ritual context, conventions, sources of variation, and uses of line and colour in the ancient wall-painting tradition in Mithila region of Bihar.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

5. TRANSFORMATION IN MEDIUM
The social content dominated his paintings and graphics, and the
anguish of the nations who lost their homes and families during the
partition of the country came out in anger, sweeping gestural
brushwork in his paintings.
His search was on for what was living and life-giving in the
traditional arts and crafts of India, and he diversified his sculpture
materials with machined industrial objects in steel, copper, glass,
often painted in strong enamel colors.
Later he tried out the junk sculptures, introducing light and
sound in them.
6. Since the late ‘80s up to the recent years, Satish
Gujral’s paintings and sculptures further
diversified both in terms of material and content.
Satish Gujral’s sculptures in burnt wood have
came with a kind of visceral exposure of forms,
human and otherwise.
He executed commissions to make large
murals, mostly in mosaic and ceramic tiles and
later in machined steel elements, simulated his
interest in their immediate architectural context.

clarifies adding “We architects
feel that form of the building
