Of Mice And Men George And Lennie Friendship
Friendship is a very important thing because it can give you a feeling of like somebody really cares
and nothing else can make you feel this way. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is a really good
novel. It shows you the importance of friendship. He uses the two main characters in the novel,
George and Lennie. When I think about myself, I have a lot of people that I would consider my
friends. I only have one true friend. He is loyal and I can always trust him with everything. He also
just has the simple quality of caring. Like about my decisions about certain things and I believe that
my friendship is just as strong as George and Lennie s.
One important quality that my friend has is loyalty. He supports me and my decisions. He also ...

In my friendship, we also care about each other. George and Lennie would care if something happened
to one of them and in my friendship it is the exact same. Before they go to the ranch, they camp in a
really nice spot. George really likes it so he tells Lennie Well look Lennie if you jus happen to get in
trouble like you always done before, I want you to come right here and hide in the brush (Steinbeck
15). This shows that George cares about Lennie because he could just not tell him anything and not
have a plan and just leave him to get in trouble. George can leave Lennie anytime and he chooses not
to because he actually cares about him and does not want him to get hurt or in trouble. My friendship
can relate because we basically do the same thing. If something seems a little weird or wrong, we have
a plan and know what to do. We watch each other s backs because we don t want anything bad to
happen to us. There is going to be that one friend that is the one to actually care about you. They care
is something bad happens and for that you care the same. That is the last reason why I think my
friendship is just as strong as George and

Travel Business Franchise and Market Structure
My franchise operates in a markets characterized by a state of the monopolistic competition. Results!
Travel competes in the travel business, helping customers sort out their travel options and booking
travel for them. In this market, there are numerous competitors, but each tailors its service slightly
differently. There are low barriers to entry, and all firms are in business to maximize profit. Lastly,
firms in this market are typically not price takers, because they have the ability to reach consumers
(Investopedia, 2012). These are the four basic characteristics of firms in monopolistic competition,
and that therefore is the type of market structure faced by Results. There are a wide range of
competitors in this market. Some firms also do travel planning, and this segment of the industry is
highly fragmented. There are some chains still in the business and there are also a large number of
independent operators. Some of the customer segments include vacationers and corporations. A lot of
competition in this industry has migrated to the Internet. Results competes against do it yourself travel
planning websites like Expedia or Hotwire, in addition to new startups that seek out different markets
as a result of the highly heterogeneous nature of the industry (Gannes, 2010). There are a couple of
ways for my firm to increase its market power. The first is by offering lower prices. Consumers in this
segment are often price sensitive, so lower prices will entice new

Pros And Cons Of One Child Policy In China
Write to China: Complicated yet Unique and Interesting As Well
What Indonesian youth think about China?
For me, China is a very complicated yet a unique country. So why did this thought came up?
Its population
First of all it s because of the population. China s population is about 1.4 billion (1,382,710,000)
which makes them the most populous country on this earth. Seems complicated for its government to
suppress the growth of all its citizens. China s government always put on efforts for this issue by
creating One Child Policy and turned it to Two Child Policy to suppress the growth nowadays.
One Child Policy is indeed such an effective way to reduce the country s population although it still
has its pros and cons (some say it led to an abortion). This policy also seems complicated. At first, or
for starters if the mother gave birth to a baby girl, they are (the parents) allowed to have another child
and makes sure that it s a boy. Also this policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, this country is available for all countries in the world that wants to build some
agreement within trust between each other (or diplomatic relations, as they say). But, remembering
Taiwan (or Chinese Taipei or Republic of China as well), this subject will be complicated. Why?
Because China recognize Chinese Taipei as Chinese Taipei, not a single thought to recognize them as
Taiwan. Meanwhile Taiwan is like Hello, my name is Taiwan a.k.a. Republic of China, end of story.
Nice to meet you.
So there are some countries that recognize Chinese Taipei as Taiwan. China s reaction with it is good,
I mean you can do whatever you want to keep one of your part of nations, so, China does not want to
do diplomatic relations with countries that recognize Chinese Taipei as Taiwan, or in addition, as an
independent country. It is called One China Policy (has nothing to do with One Child Policy, of

Essay on Personal Statement
I learned from the high school class I taught that two people can be looking at the same thing but each
see something very different. The teacher (me) was white, privileged, and coddled throughout my
suburban childhood and adolescence. Most students in my class were black or brown, poor, and grew
up mostly on their own, living on the unforgiving urban street. They opened my eyes (often against
my will and certainly against my druthers ) to their alternative society. I learned that this hidden
society exists unseen and mostly ignored within the larger normal American society of laws, schools,
careers, and families; it comes to the attention of general society s gatekeepers only at points of
conflict. I tried as best as a newly minted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I became aware that most criminal law is written with little regard to the insights that can be provided
by criminologists. The middle class legislator presumes that a criminal sentence and imprisonment
will be viewed by the offender as a shameful event; the under class youth views the experience as a
badge of honor and a successful rite of passage.
During the course of my studies, I researched cases at the Orlando office of the State Attorney. One of
the Assistant State Attorneys there, who had been my official counselor and became my unofficial
mentor while I was an undergraduate at UCF, invited me to be intern. I did so in order to gain further
insight and practical experience in the counterplay between real prosecutors who deal daily with real
alleged criminals and how the insights of criminology might improve the making and applying of
criminal law. Since I have research expertise, my interning assignments included preparing pre trial
legal and background briefs for use in court. The cases I have worked on at the State Attorney s office
range from rape and murder to jaywalking.
This hands on exposure to criminal law in every day practice has led me further to a mature decision
to make a career in criminal law practice. The Stetson University College of Law has a particularly
noted reputation for trial advocacy, which is primarily why I am applying to you. In passing, my

The Godhead Research Paper
In LDS Church teachings, God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are referred to as the
Godhead . According to LDS scripture, the Godhead has the following attributes: They are three
separate and distinct beings. They are collectively one God , meaning that they are united in spirit,
mind, and purpose.
Because they believe that divine apostolic authority was lost from the earth after the death of the
ancient apostles, a restoration of that authority was necessary. Members believe that restoration began
in early 1800s with revelations to young Smith.
They believe that God still speaks to humankind, that He has called new apostles and prophets and
that revelation flows today as it did anciently. Further, many of those revelations

good screenplay then the cinema should make you forget that you are sitting in a theater. A movie that
has a very good screenplay would be It Happened One Night directed by Frank Capra. This movie that

Bill Of Rights For Animal Rights
For centuries, animals have played a huge part in people s lives. Some people worship animals, and
for other people animals may be nothing but a source of food. The Animal Legal Defense Fund
Organization has sponsored a petition that calls for increased protection for the rights of animals. The
petition calls for the right of all animals to be free of exploitation, cruelty, neglect, and abuse, and
enumerates further rights for laboratory animals, farm animals, companion animals, and wildlife.
Animals should have a bill of rights because animals are very like us, even though people don t notice
it and people should treat animals with respect. This is important because if we don t do something
about it than animals are going to be treated badly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Animals should have a right to live without being confined, exploited, tormented, or eaten. That
means no animal experimentation, no fur or leather clothing, and a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle
(Frazier 2). For instance, the Great Ape Project demands a basic set of moral and legal rights for
chimpanzees, gorillas, bonobos, and orangutans (Yong 2). This law would ban the uses of apes in
experiments or entertainment or commercial ventures, and they would set higher standards for their
conditions in captivity. This means that animals are not property. Singer is the head of GAP and says
that they should extend rights to a wide range of nonhuman animals (Yong 5). This law should extend
to more animals like dogs, pigs, rats, guinea pigs, etc because lot s of animals get used to test out
beauty products. Animals shouldn t be used as tests because it s cruel and inhumane. According to
Humane Society International, usually animals that are used for experimentation are forced to eat, are
forced inhalation, water and food deprivation, prolonged periods of physical restraint ( Animal Testing
). This needs to stop. On the other hand, people think that we need to test on animals on some of the
cosmetics and healthcare products to ensure the safety of the products. American women use an
average of 12 personal care products per day, so product safety is of great importance ( Animal Testing

In addition to duty to reporting, I was quiet surprised at how mandated Laws requiring reporting and
the limitations to Confidentiality differ in various states, because coupled to what Joseph and Nellie
were discussing in Feldman s video , New York lawyer are not obligated to carry out reporting (Stein,
2004). In some cases, Professional Counselors/therapists are covered under attorney Client privilege,
if the Counselor/therapist is employed under the attorney, thus making reporting of an abuse void.
(Stein, p. 11). Furthermore on the issue of Confidentiality, I found the video s information and the
information I gathered from the State of Maryland, Board of Professional Counselors/therapists and
the ACA code of ethics websites, contradictory. According to the discussion, on the Video, a third
party can be granted access into a victim s records, but according to both Maryland and ACA code of
ethics websites, Clients recorded are not supposed to be made known to a third party, unless the Client
issues an informed consent. So I just think revealing a Client s information is in violation of the code
of conduct and HIPPA act, just like Nurse Brown and the incompetent social worker, they were in
violation of the Statue and I could say, COMAR 10.58.04; Professional Competence. Finally, on the

A Christmas Carol Essay
Each ghost marks an important step in Scrooge s journey towards being a better person. Explain
In Dickens five stave novella each ghost in A Christmas Carol contributes to the final redemption of
his journey to becoming a better person. The ghosts take Scrooge on a journey, physically, taking him
to visit important aspects of his past, present and future and these journeys metaphorically empathy
enlightenment that he needs to change into a more humane person. The five staves outline how he
grows as a person, and eventually redeems himself.
Although the three main ghost of the novel are large aspects of Scrooges journey, without the initial
visit from Marley s Ghost, Scrooge would not have had the opportunity change for the better. ... Show

The ghost then takes Scrooge to his boarding school where he is greeted by his much younger sister
Fan expressing how excited she is to spend Christmas all together as a family. Scrooge seemed uneasy
in his mind; It is here that Scrooge begins to regret the way he treats Fans only son, Scrooges only
nephew and become remorseful for rejecting him from his life. We then are introduced to Scrooges
old place of work where he was apprenticed by Old Fezziwig. Scrooge is reminded of the way he was
treated by his employer. He was respected and was respectful towards him, and the example of Old
Fezziwig demonstrates how Scrooge is the exact opposite. This was an example of what a good
employer can be, and he wishes to speak to his clerk. He has the power to render us happy or
unhappy; to make our service light or burdensome; It is now Scrooge begins to understand that he has
been making his clerk, Bob Cratchit s life a misery. The ghost of Christmas past has covered three
main aspects of Scrooges past, but the final one is his past relationship with Belle, who he lost because
he changed his nature and became more interested in gaining money instead of appreciating what he
had. To emphasize the regret Scrooge should feel, the ghost takes him to Belles new home and family,
which shakes Scrooge the most because it is what Scrooge missed out on. When he thought that such

Genetically Modified Foods Argument Essay
One of the main concerns of today s generation is health. Many people are concerned with staying fit,
which means working out and eating healthy. Currently, today s generation is at a crossroad between
what is considered healthy and the price of being healthy. The biggest concern revolves around
Genetically Modified Organisms or GMOs. GMOs are scientifically modified foods or hormones used
to increase food production and reduce the number of pesticides and disease a crop or organism may
be susceptible to. So what is the big concern? Consumers are wary of eating the unknown. Many are
scared to eat GMOs due to an irrational fear of disease. Consumers tend to overreact about Genetically
Modified foods without truly understanding the purpose of GMOs. GMOs make up the many of the
foods we eat today. In fact, Barlett Steele reports that about 90 percent of soybeans, the main
ingredient in almost all the foods we eat, are genetically modified (p.821). Genetically modified seeds
are also present in the foods farm animals eat. The main producer of genetically modified seeds,
Monsanto, has made seeds that are resistant to a pesticide from the brand name Roundup. Roundup
Ready Seeds has made farming easier for farmers. A farmer can ... Show more content on

In animals, GMOs can be found in cows in the form of artificial hormones. Dairy cows are often
injected with a genetically modified hormone to encourage milk production. This chemical, rBGH is
proven to not be harmful to humans but can be harmful in animals because it speeds up their
metabolism and increases the cows chance of early death (Barlett Steele). This raises many debates
about artificial hormones. While these hormones do not affect humans, cows are severely affected and
injecting them with these hormones can be considered animal abuse. Ultimately, this debate is settled
by the consumers. Dairy farmers label their milk and it is up to the consumer to decide if they want to
use the milk or

Jane Campion s The Piano
Jane Campion s The Piano A Metaphor for European Domination
The exact nature of the encounters between Captain James Cook and the Polynesian natives of Hawaii
as well as all interactions and exchanges between Europeans and native Polynesian peoples of the
Pacific while Cook was exploring the islands of Hawaii and after has been investigated by
anthropologists and historians for many years. Captain Cook died at the hand of Polynesian natives
while he was at Hawaii in 1779. Marshall Sahlins stated that Cook was seen as the god Lono during
the celebration of the Makahiki festival taking place at the time of Cook s visit. Gananath

Director Jane Campion places a motif throughout her film The Piano that is preoccupied by power
struggles between males and females and European colonists and indigenous people. The Prospero
syndrome is seen in attitudes of the Europeans regarding their belief that European culture, ideology,
and religious practices are the only standards of behavior deemed acceptable for human beings,
women in particular. The piano then becomes a symbol for the taboos that are placed on the Europeans
and their lives. The character of Ada is placed at the center of a struggle between a male character who
fully embodies the Kurtz persona with tattoos, close friendships with the Maori, and uninhibited
sexual overtures, and one who clings to English ways. Harvey Keitel portrays this character, named
Baines, while Sam Neill plays his foil. The character of Stewart embodies the Prospero persona by
maintaining an ever present businesslike relationship with the Maori and punishing those who
transgress his code of conduct. The punishment of Flora, Ada s daughter for misbehaving and
simulating her mother s sexual behavior and of Ada herself for loving Baines while conducting and
affair at he same time with Stewart himself places a black mark

Discourse Of Disability
Main Discourses:
One of the main discourses that faced Donald is Normality . Donald is seen normal in the eyes of his
partner and peers. They depend on him in solving their problems and asking for his opinion. However,
he was viewed as deviant in his parents and his employer s eyes. Foucault (1977) was interested in
how certain ways of seeing phenomena come to be reified as truth. Years later, Jorgenson Phillips
(2002) discussed that reality and truth are only accessible to us in sort of categories. The impact of that
on a disabled child can affect his identity and sense of self as mentioned in Michel Foucault s theory
of identity (Jorgenson Phillips, 2002; Foucault, 1977). Many arguments and studies mentioned that
disabled people are not struggling with their disability, but are struggling with who they are
(MacNaughton, 2003). For example, when Donald invited his boss to have dinner at his house, he
asked Isabella his partner to act normally and they had a big fight where Isabella told him, You do not
know who you are, you are trying to show people that you are as normal as them. (Lawrence et al.,
2005).
Another discourse is the equality and the inequality which relates to the social justice. After a long

Essay about ansel adams
Ansel Adams photographer and artist
Until the 19th century most artwork was created in a two or three dimensional media. In England,
William Fox discovered a technique that allowed camera images to be captured on paper. This
medium has evolved since Fox s discovery in 1839 to a serious and viable form of art today.
Photography allows the artist to capture what he sees. The image produced is reality to the artists eye,
it can only be manipulated with light and angles.
The photograph is a very powerful medium. The French painter Paul Delaroche exclaimed upon
seeing an early photograph from now on, painting is dead! (Sayre, 2000). Many critics did not take
photography seriously as a legitimate art form until the 20th century. With the ... Show more content

AIPAC Lobbying Tactics
How does AIPAC affect United States policy in relation to the Middle East? In my paper, I will be
briefly discussing the history behind the lobbying group and their ever so developing lobbying tactics.
As well as tackle my research question and answer it in its entirety by examining the United States
relationship with Israel, as well as comparing AIPAC s influence throughout different administrations.
In short, I hope to gather more of an understanding on how a minority in this country (the American
population is currently around 2 percent Jewish) is able to be such a model interest group (Bard).

foreign policy in the Middle East and a lot of it is based on Israel s interest. These interests are
sometimes achieved by violence and wars (Mearsheimer and Walt 52). Ultimately U.S. foreign policy
creates conflict in the Middle East. To start to describe the American Israeli relationship, it will be best
summed up by what former president John F. Kennedy who called Israel the bright light now shining
in the Middle East (Mersheimer and Walt 60). It is no secret that AIPAC s lobbies to influence U.S.
foreign policy in the favor of Israel and the Israeli government; ultimately causing a lot of unbalanced
power between countries in the Middle East (Elgindy 85). Some things that AIPAC has succeeded
with, as far as influence, has been growing the backing of the United States during the Six Day War
(Kopanski and Mohsen 86). For example, in 1967, following the Six Day War, Israel got territory over
Golan Heights (which borders Syria and Israel). The United States supported Israel for the war, not
giving other countries a real chance of victory against Israel (Kopanski and Mohsen 102). The balance
of power is significantly skewed since Israel is allied to a superpower. Thus, the United States has not
only provided Israel with nearly $3 billion to develop weapons systems such as the Lavi aircraft but as
well as giving Israel access to U.S. weaponry like Blackhawk helicopters and F16 jets (Sasson 96).

How Did Athens Treat Athenian Women
Throughout culture, women have gone through various types of adversity as well as treatment. Some
cultures, such as Persia, treated women with great respect and gave them social as well as legal
freedom. Although they were treated less than men, they were given much more respect in comparison
to many other cultures. In Athens, women and slaves were somewhat held to the same standard.
Citizenship was limited to males (Crash Course) in Greece, so slaves and women were not given much
respect and did not have very many legal rights. They were not allowed to vote, take part in politics, or

This is proved in The Economist when Socrates says And when you married her she was quite young,
a mere girl at an age when, as far as seeing and hearing go, she had the smallest acquaintance with the

Typically, the girls did not know or meet their husband until the wedding. Also, Athenians placed great
importance on virginity, so they would perform a ceremony called a betrothal where witnesses would
confirm the virginity of the girl. An additional celebration called a gamos was held in order for the
father to give his daughter away to her new husband. Before the celebration, the bride was washed and
dressed by female relatives. The bride would wear a white dress (similar to now), a crown, and would
carry a pomegranate or another fruit that had many seeds inside. The bride carried a pomegranate
because it was supposed to symbolize fertility. The day following the ceremony, both families would
have a celebration that is similar to a reception nowadays. One major difference between then and
now is that the groom would pretend to kidnap his bride and carry her across the threshold of their
house. Even though she was introduced to their new household after the wedding, she would not

The Importance Of Land Conflict In The South China Sea
The South China Sea is the main time link between the Pacific and Indian oceans, giving it enormous
trade and military value (Rappler). There is a current conflict over a territory occurring in the South
China Sea. There are multiple countries trying to militarize and attain the area. This is causing a lot of
tension similar to Alsace Lorraine and the Balkan region leading up to World War One. The
geographical resources that are in the sea make it very desirable. Land disputes during World War One
in the Balkans and Alsace Lorraine, and those disputes that are forming in the South China Sea could
have been prevented with negotiation and de militarization. Land disputes in the Balkans and Alsace
Lorraine were a leading cause to World War One. A big cause of European tension prior to World War
1 was the continued instability and conflict in the Balkans. This land was a cluster of nations including
Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Bosnia (Alpha History). The Balkans had few natural
resources, making it less of an large economic prize but more of a geographical prize. The Balkans
were right in the middle of three key empires: Ottoman Empire, Russia, and Austria Hungary. It had
multiple water sources and water ways which caused it to be strategically vital. This caused a lot of
European tension leading up to World War One. More tension caused by land was between France and

Reconstruction was officially over with the Compromise of 1877 which finally withdrew the last
military troops in the South. United States as a nation experienced a variety of significant and drastic

Crime and disorder became the norm in the cities at the time. Illegal gains became a queer ladder of
social mobility according to sociologist Daniel Bell (p. 420). Prostitution was another plague that
affected society at the time. Women sometimes with very little options and in a very competitive labor
market fell prey to prostitution as the only viable way to make a living. The local taverns became a
place for many to escape the stress of a very fast pace life style and the often cruel conditions of

The Heat Stress Of Firefighters
Firefighters are subjected to significant levels of physical exertion, exposure to higher tempera ture
environments, and smoke during the firefighting activities. The physical exertion includes the ability
to carry heavy loads, for example oxygen tanks, removal of fallen building structures, rescue of a
victim, etc. To be able to work in such inhospitable environments, firefighters wear a protective suit,
which shields them from the high temperatures. However, the protective suit re stricts the heat outflow
from the human body to its immediate surroundings. A combination of the physical load, surroundings
with higher temperature, and protective suit leads to heat buildup within the human body. An
unchecked increase in body heat will lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inability to dissipate the heat is detrimental to the fire fighter s health and can result in heat related
illnesses, including heat stroke and may contribute towards sudden cardiac events.
1.2 Computational whole body model
To suitably dissipate the excess body heat, there are two options: 1) use of cooling mech anisms, and
2) limiting the duration of the activity, or both. The limit for the duration of activity can be predicted
with the help of algorithms based on experimental data [4], human body simula tors [5, 6], or
computational models [7]. Algorithms are developed based on the average re sponse of the human
subjects tested in controlled environmental simulators. The variations in the local environment are
limited based on the capacity of the experimental setup. Conversely, using a computational model
includes the advantages of: 1) better manipulation of the human body ge ometry, and 2) the possibility
to impose and test unfavorable boundary conditions such as expo sure to fire. Computational models
allow for the integration of the human thermoregulatory sys tem with a physiologically realistic
geometry to determine the thermal interactions of the model with the environment. However, the main
drawback of the computational models is that their results are dependent on the quality of input data
and boundary conditions. A computational model that resembles the human body is

Argumentative Essay Zoos
Do zoos benefit and improve the lives of animals, or are they catastrophic and disastrous to all these
creatures? This has been a huge debate ever since zoos have been created. Numerous people believe
they are horrid and an issue to animals. In reality, zoos benefit and improve the lives of these animals
for a great amount of reasons.
To illustrate, zoos promote animal conservation. Most animals that have lived in a zoo never
experienced the wild. According to the Conversation, it implies, Everyone believes the wild is a safer
habitat than in zoos, despite drastic threats of climate change, increased poaching, and destruction of
animal s habitats for palm oil. Other examples of how zoos promote animal conservation are how after
ten years of hard work to support and strengthen the amount of endangered California condors, a type
of vulture, the Los Angeles and San Diego zoos have increased the population from about two dozen
to about 170 birds (Are Zoos Good or Bad for Animals?). In addition, there are 232 accredited zoos

The brand loyalty is another very important barrier to entry. When choosing the airlines, customers,
especially the high profile ones, are being very careful about health and safety, comfort and other

entrants is low, because there is a number of very hard to overcome barriers to entry, and if the small
company appears on the market, it tends to be absorbed by one of the major players in the industry.
* Threat of substitutes low
Airlines industry being an important sector of travel and tourism industry will have such potential
substitutes as the sea, railway and road types of transportation. However, as Etihad is operating in an
upper class prices level, the threat of substitutes would be fairly low. In terms of potential business
travellers, the time would be more important than money for them. In terms of leisure tourists, the

CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION Ambient air in urban, rural, and industrial areas contains an array of
volatile organic compounds (VOCs). They spread in the air as gases from some solids or liquid
materials. Society and environment are directly healthy affected in short and long term by VOCs at
trace level concentrations (2). Air pollutants toxic are class of chemicals that may consider health
problems in a significant way. There are many chemical pollutants released into the ambient air from
various sources, such as power plants, and spraying pesticides. There are two types of air pollutants
that are primary pollutants, which are emitted directly into the air from pollution sources, and
secondary pollutants, which are from primary pollutants, but after they passing from many of the

Isolation Of Clove Oil
Isolation of Clove Oil by Steam Distillation
Introduction:
One method used to isolate oils from a material is to use steam distillation. Many organic chemicals
decompose before reaching their boiling point, so normal distillation will not work. However, steam is
used to carry small amounts of these organic chemicals where they can condense and be collected.
This is an important part process in organic chemistry which allows us to extract and test oils. The
purpose of this lab is to isolate eugenol (clove oil) from cloves using steam distillation. The eugenol is
further separated by using a nonpolar solvent in a separation funnel to remove it from the water and
distilling the solvent to leave behind pure eugenol.

Transfer the dried dichloromethane into the round bottom flask using a pipet. Be sure to leave the
magnesium sulfate behind.
Assemble a simple distillation apparatus and remove the solvent. Dichloromethane boils at a relatively
low temperature so not much heat is needed.
Allow the round bottom flask with eugenol in it to cool and record the mass. Subtract the weight of
the round bottom flask to obtain the mass of eugenol.
Dissolve the eugenol in 10 ml of methanol.
Obtain 4 test tubes and add 1 ml of methanol to each test tube. Using a Pasteur pipet, add five drops of
the methanol clove oil to test tube 3 and ten drops into test tube 4. Gently swirl each tube.
Using a Pasteur pipet, add three drops of 0.05M KMnO4 to test tubes 1 and 3 and add two drops of
1% FeCl3 solution to test tubes 2 and 4. Record your observations.
Results:
The clove oil was tested and confirmed as eugenol by using the Baeyer s test to test for double bonds
and the Ferric Chloride test to test for phenol group. Since cloves are 17% eugenol by weight and the
recovered eugenol was 0.23 grams, this gives a theoretical yield of 67% and a 11.5%

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This case is about how a company should allocate costs. Mr. Delaney is the owner of an automobile
dealership that is profitable but not profitable in the area of the body shop department.. The
predicament that he faces is that he needs to figure out how to allocate the costs among his different
profit centers. One of the things that Mr. Delaney did in trying to assist himself was to hire a
consultant. The consultant was one that is very competent in analyzing the issues of cost, both fixed,
variable and semivariable. He then tried to relate his knowledge to help Mr. Delaney in his dilemma.

Mr. Delaney would be doing himself a disservice if his prices were not in line with the rest of his
competitors. Unless he could retain a profit margin equal to his competitors with lower prices I think
he should raise them to industry standard.
3.
The action Mr. Delaney should take should be the one that is most in line with his goals, mission and
vision for the company. It seems as if he wants to retain the level of service for the buck he is giving
his customers so I think he feels comfortable doing this and that is what he should do. I also think he
should increase prices slowly if it is warranted by the industry and at the same time try to reduce the
costs associated with the body shop to increase profit margin for that department.
Conclusions/Recommendations
This case brought to light the importance of allocating the costs of a company to the correct
departments and the benefits of doing so in the analysis of each department.
The consultant seemed to make a recommendation based upon inaccurate cost allocations and a lack
of analysis of the prices of competitors.

Summary Of Carter Father Of Black History Month
Carter G. Woodson formally known as the Father of Black History Month was an extraordinarily wise
man who dedicated his life time to African American History. His most famous pieces of writings was
his book The Mis Education of the Negro in which many topics are discussed for example education,
business, politics, religion, self hatred, and black on black prejudice, which I exceptionally believe is a

This like then is still negatively affecting the black children being taught these biased history because
it is teaching them that we was nothing but slaves who picked cotton on plantations. If they are lucky
the book may mention a sentence or two about Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman, but for the
most part that is all black people contributed to history. Which installs at an early age in black children
that we are not as smart, skilled, and important as the white man. Education was not the only aspect
Woodson discussed in his book that is still prevalent today. Correspondingly, politics also is an aspect
Woodson discussed in The Mis Education of the Negro that is prevalent in present day society.
Woodson quotes, ANOTHER factor the Negro needs is a new figure in politics, one who will not
concern himself so much with what others can do for him as with what he can do for himself
(Woodson chap. 17 par. 1). In Woodson s book when he talks about politics like the quote above he
says how black people need to make a way for themselves and respect themselves instead of being so
dependent on the white man s government that has been against black people from the beginning.
What Woodson spoke about is still prevalent in the society today but to an extent. It is prevalent

Walnut Venture Associates Case Analysis
Walnut Venture Associates
RBS Group is a complete accounting application solution provider targeting its products to software
companies. Their product, SOFTRAX, provides software companies with a full package of solutions
spanning in financials, sales amp; marketing, customer support and software operations. Robert O
Connor, RBS s founder and CEO was seeking a $2 million second round venture capital financing to
support their regional sales offices growth and recruit personnel in sales, implementation amp;
customer support. Though RBS is still a young company, it indicates to position itself in a unique
niche market within a solid market. They have seasoned management team and have allied with
several key clients and partnerships. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although early adoption of two regional offices in late 1997 contributed to seven new customers and
$600,000 in revenue, further sales team expansion doesn t necessarily to lead a great incremental
growth. In addition, four additional offices are located in New York, Chicago, the Southeast and Mid
Atlantic States, which don t cluster the pockets of concentration in the software market. The second
issue is related to challenges along with modified business model. RBS originally devoted their time
and spirit into business advisory and updating existing platforms and currently, means to expand their
value add service in the future. Though their alternative product offering value add Web Order to
SOFTWAX s web application has been successful, other future value added products may not meet
the demand from customers. This aggressive strategy in value add service area along with
geographical expansion into an international market increases future risk exposure for persistent
growth. Last issue is related to the fierce competition in the industry. Although RBS leads a unique
business model in the market, it operates in a highly congested replacement market for internal
systems. Some individual commercial product provider in financials, sales amp; marketing, and
customer support can expand their business line upwards

Ancient Greek Society
Ancient Greece society evolved around their sports. In fact, they created the Olympics. Played by
mostly men and boys, the sports were to make sure they were in shape. For people in the army, sports
would be played to not only keep you fit, but to also prepare you for war. They had to be able to
march long distances, hold heavy weapons along with the heavy equipment, and then to fight. The
ancient Olympics were very significantly and were held in Olympia. Unlike the modern Olympics,
though, competitors were only from the Greek towns. They started as a one day event until 684 BC it
became a three day event. The games included running, long jump, shot put, javelin, boxing,
pankration and equestrian events. Over 50,000 people could sit and watch

Margin Call, the Movie
Margin Call depicts a realistic take on what happens inside a Wall Street firm. It is about a company
that is downsizing their workers because of a firm s crisis. One of the victims, Eric Dale, was working
on a major analysis when he was laid off. He hands his coworker Peter Sullivan his USB, which
contains the major analysis. Peter stays late and cracks the issues and calls his coworkers and bosses
in about the financial disaster he had discovered. He had discovered that the company is about the
crash. He tries to get ahold of Eric, no luck. He then calls his coworkers Seth Bregman and Will
Emerson, who are at a bar and tells them that they need to come back to the office for an emergency
situation. After showing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is mainly concerned about how much he makes in salary. Will describes Seth rather well, saying he
is A heartless little shit. While Peter is concerned about the discovery and the negative impact it could
have on the company, Seth is goofing around and telling Peter that everyone is going out but him and
that he should have few drinks at The Grand to celebrate that they did not get laid off like many of
their coworkers. Peter then calls Seth when he discovers what is on the USB and Seth complains about
leaving the club and coming back to the office at 10:00pm. Compared to Peter, Seth cares more about
the well being of himself than of the survival of the company. For example, when Peter and Seth are in
the taxi, Seth pulls out a large beer and asks Peter if he wants one, Peter says no and Seth says What,
we got them on our way to meet you at the office ... we didn t know what the fuck you wanted to talk
about ... I thought you got a chick pregnant or something. Even after Seth knows how bad the situation
is, we still find him joking about it. Seth s laid back demeanor of sitting and drinking a beer shows
that he is not influenced by the stresses around him. Someone who really cared about the firm would
be taking these matters very seriously. Peter makes a comment about the people walking around
outside and says, Look at these people, wondering around...they have no idea what is about to happen,
and Seth replies

The blurb in this book explains in a simple and straight forward way, how to keep and maintain your
vision. How to accomplish goals despite the challenges and how to creatively make use of your time.
God has given us all vision which encloses our talent, dreams and goals in life, to tap it in order to

we spend time doing things worthless. You ll see guys going around town cruising with cars in search

precious time seeking for sugar daddies and sugar mums. They use the best of their time for
enjoyment. I call them bonivants . They boobed by calling Jenifer rather than Samuel . What are the
qualities you posses? Are you creatively making use of the time you have now? If you have not, it s
time and all you have now is time. Learn to be a capacity builder to your world. Build yourself sterling
qualities, qualities worthy of emulation. Set before you records and leave a legacy even when you ll be

Vape Essay
51VAPE: THE BEAST IN THE EAST (Revision July 17, 2015) Before Hip Hop became the
phenomenal mainstream success it is today, it was born struggling on the streets of New York.
Pioneers like DJ Kool Herc and Coke La Rock laid down the foundations, and then crews like
Grandmaster Flash the Furious Five, The Sugar Hill Gang, Afrika Bambaataa and Universal Zulu
Nation came along to cement the culture. They organized block parties, had emcee and break dancing
battles, sold mix tapes out of the trunks of their cars. They d hustle anything they could to make it big
on the cold mean streets. You had to be tough, you had to be bold, and you had to risk everything in
order to gain anything. The struggle continues the hustle never stops. Today, the Vaping culture faces
similar challenges that early Hip Hop did in the past. No one knows this more than David Le, the
owner of 51Vape, the first and best Vape Shop in Albany, Upstate New York. I literally started [my
company] with a duffle bag, and my truck, he says recalling his humble beginnings in the industry. ...I
wasn t making much due to gas prices, but I was passionate about vaping and I knew it would be
something special... a movement . It was this passionate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He forged his mentality on the streets. The streets demand that you have to be tough, you have to be
bold, and you have to risk everything in order to gain anything. You have to be a beast. After long
consideration, I took my life savings and my wife s life savings [to] venture out of my comfort zone,
and find a shop, he recalls, ...there were days that I would only see 1 2 customers for months! But I
knew vaping was a completely new thing [here]. I would have to tough it out... and it started to pay
off. From then on, David earned more business, he began to hire employees, and then, he opened a
second shop that was a huge success. Now the sky s the limit to where he can take

Presumed Innocent Essay
Presumed Innocent
Innocent until proven guilty has been an important mantra in US law. The burden of proof remains on
the prosecution to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty. This principle guides the
premise that wrongly accusing the incident is a greater harm than not punishing the guilty, and sets a
clean slate to build on in the minds of the Judge and jury. Additionally, this principle protects from
unreasonable accusations assuming that significant evidence must be present first.
Opposite of this philosophy would be guilty until proven innocent. In societies following this
philosophy the accused must jump through hurdles to prove they are indeed innocent. Imagine, for
example, you come home after a long day, flop down on the couch and fall asleep watching TV.
Suddenly, bursting into the room comes the police, arresting you for robbing the convenience store
down the street. You were there, you were asleep, but how do you prove this, the clerk said you did it.
How do you proceed? Unjustly charged, potentially punished, having the presumption of innocence
would have protected you.
While Presumed Innocent is the mantra in the courts, it rarely is practiced in the court of public
opinion. As seen in the movie Presumed Innocent the lead character, Rozat Sabich, was charged with a
highly publicized murder. Being a public figure in the midst of an election, his arrest was publicized
heavily in the media. As the story leaked out, and

“the Dollar Store’s Food and Cigarettes Strategy Is Working”
The article is about the variety retail store chain Family Dollar s approach to increasing sales and
competing against not only other variety store retailers but against, convenience stores and mega
retailers as well. Last Year, Family Dollar decided it sold enough cheap detergent and school supplies
what it needed was food and cigarettes. Its research found that many of its customers smoke, and
smokers tend to make frequent trips to buy cigarettes maybe they d pick up some groceries and
whatnot while they were there. Food is also something people buy frequently, so the combination
hopefully would boost traffic. (BusinessWeek.com/Articles/2013 10 10/the dollar stores) The discount
variety store teamed up with McLane, a grocery and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There research has shown that the chain s typical tobacco sale is $13, and about 60% of shoppers who
buy tobacco spend an additional $4 worth of goods, that s a boon says COO Michael Bloom for a
store where many items are $1 or less, and most items are less than $10.
(BusinessWeek.com/Articles/2013 10 10/the dollar stores)
Last Wednesday the company reported that there consumables category, which includes food and
tobacco increased 16.9% to 7.5 Billion in the 12 months ended in August. Had they been wrong, who
knows how adversely this strategy could have been to the company. Appealing to smokers and using
there needs to smoke and buy other consumables is a risky approach considering how many people
feel about the adverse effects of tobacco.
When I saw the strategy and approach I was intrigued. I have never been a smoker and I have never
shopped at any dollar store including Family Dollar. I always looked at them as a novelty supplier, I
never knew they carried these types of products or the type of assortment listed in the article. By really
focusing on their customers, and there needs to purchase certain consumables, and to purchase them
often, I can see how Family Dollar can be extremely successful. By competing at the price level for
products they can put dents in revenues streams for mega retailers Wal mart and Kmart. By offering
these lines of products and be

Joseph O Loughlin
Joseph O Loughlin is the central character in the Joseph O Loughlin series of novels authored by
popular Australian author Michael Robotham. The first novel that featured the O Loughlin character
was the 2004 title Suspect . The novels in the series are best classified as detective crime mysteries.
The best description of Joseph O Loughlin is that of a family man, a kindhearted psychologist with a
dry sense of humor and a magnificent sense of humanity. He works alongside his best friend the
former detective and hard drinking Vincent Ruiz whose personality could not be any more different.
Nonetheless, the two characters have great chemistry and complement each other in their work.

Pride And Prejudice And The Pursuit Of Happiness Summary
Claudia Johnson critical article response
Claudia Johnson in her essay, Pride and Prejudice and the Pursuit of Happiness, claims that happiness
is the centralized theme of the novel, Pride and Prejudice. Johnson suggests that the element of
happiness carries the weight of political and social commentary, a comment preceded by a litany of
examples. One example being Darcy s struggle to find happiness in his independent choice of
marrying Elizabeth while combating his sense of self consequence [that] is characterized by a haughty
determination to be mortified by everyone outside his small circle (349). Johnson also defends Austen
from critics who claim the novel supports a fairytale style happy ending that doesn t resolve the
political or social issues brought about in the novel s opening pages. Johnson combats this criticism by
stating the political resolution can be found not within the novel s closing pages, but within the actions
of the characters. Johnson goes further to state that Austen s care to establish the standards of her
characters happiness provides us with index of their moral imaginations, tempers, and resources that
enable us to engage in judicious moral evaluation without resorting to the conclusive moralizing
characteristics of some of her contemporaries (350).
Johnson evaluates that each character serves a role not only in the narrative, but more importantly as
manifestations of Austen s own social commentary of her era and social/political

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is a really good novel. It shows you the importance of friendship. He uses the two main characters in the novel, George and Lennie. When I think about myself, I have a lot of people that I would consider my friends. I only have one true friend. He is loyal and I can always trust him with everything. This shows that George cares about Lennie because he could just not tell him anything and not have a plan and just leave him to get in trouble. George can leave Lennie anytime and he chooses not to because he actually cares about him and does not want him to get hurt or in trouble. My friendship can relate because we basically do the same thing. If something seems a little weird or wrong, we have a plan and know what to do. Travel competes in the travel business, helping customers sort out their travel options and booking travel for them. In this market, there are numerous competitors, but each tailors its service slightly differently. There are low barriers to entry, and all firms are in business to maximize profit. Lastly, firms in this market are typically not price takers, because they have the ability to reach consumers (Investopedia, 2012). These are the four basic characteristics of firms in monopolistic competition, and that therefore is the type of market structure faced by Results. There are a wide range of competitors in this market. Some firms also do travel planning, and this segment of the industry is highly fragmented. There are some chains still in the business and there are also a large number of independent operators. Some of the customer segments include vacationers and corporations. A lot of competition in this industry has migrated to the Internet. Results competes against do it yourself travel planning websites like Expedia or Hotwire, in addition to new startups that seek out different markets as a result of the highly heterogeneous nature of the industry (Gannes, 2010). For me, China is a very complicated yet a unique country. So why did this thought came up? Its population First of all it s because of the population. China s population is about 1.4 billion (1,382,710,000) which makes them the most populous country on this earth. Seems complicated for its government to suppress the growth of all its citizens. China s government always put on efforts for this issue by creating One Child Policy and turned it to Two Child Policy to suppress the growth nowadays. One Child Policy is indeed such an effective way to reduce the country s population although it still has its pros and cons (some say it led to an abortion). This policy also seems complicated. The teacher (me) was white, privileged, and coddled throughout my suburban childhood and adolescence. Most students in my class were black or brown, poor, and grew up mostly on their own, living on the unforgiving urban street. They opened my eyes (often against my will and certainly against my druthers ) to their alternative society. The middle class legislator presumes that a criminal sentence and imprisonment will be viewed by the offender as a shameful event; the under class youth views the experience as a badge of honor and a successful rite of passage. During the course of my studies, I researched cases at the Orlando office of the State Attorney. One of the Assistant State Attorneys there, who had been my official counselor and became my unofficial mentor while I was an undergraduate at UCF, invited me to be intern. I did so in order to gain further insight and practical experience in the counterplay between real prosecutors who deal daily with real alleged criminals and how the insights of criminology might improve the making and applying of criminal law. Since I have research expertise, my interning assignments included preparing pre trial legal and background briefs for use in court. Because they believe that divine apostolic authority was lost from the earth after the death of the ancient apostles, a restoration of that authority was necessary. Members believe that restoration began in early 1800s with revelations to young Smith. This law would ban the uses of apes in experiments or entertainment or commercial ventures, and they would set higher standards for their conditions in captivity. Currently, today s generation is at a crossroad between what is considered healthy and the price of being healthy. The biggest concern revolves around Genetically Modified Organisms or GMOs. GMOs are scientifically modified foods or hormones used to increase food production and reduce the number of pesticides and disease a crop or organism may be susceptible to. So what is the big concern? Consumers are wary of eating the unknown. Many are scared to eat GMOs due to an irrational fear of disease. Consumers tend to overreact about Genetically Modified foods without truly understanding the purpose of GMOs. GMOs make up the many of the foods we eat today. In fact, Barlett Steele reports that about 90 percent of soybeans, the main ingredient in almost all the foods we eat, are genetically modified (p.821). They depend on him in solving their problems and asking for his opinion. However, he was viewed as deviant in his parents and his employer s eyes. Foucault (1977) was interested in how certain ways of seeing phenomena come to be reified as truth. Years later, Jorgenson Phillips (2002) discussed that reality and truth are only accessible to us in sort of categories. The impact of that on a disabled child can affect his identity and sense of self as mentioned in Michel Foucault s theory of identity (Jorgenson Phillips, 2002; Foucault, 1977). Many arguments and studies mentioned that disabled people are not struggling with their disability, but are struggling with who they are (MacNaughton, 2003). It is no secret that AIPAC s lobbies to influence U.S. foreign policy in the favor of Israel and the Israeli government; ultimately causing a lot of unbalanced power between countries in the Middle East (Elgindy 85). Land disputes in the Balkans and Alsace Lorraine were a leading cause to World War One. A big cause of European tension prior to World War 1 was the continued instability and conflict in the Balkans. This land was a cluster of nations including Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Bosnia (Alpha History). The Balkans had few natural resources, making it less of an large economic prize but more of a geographical prize. The Balkans were right in the middle of three key empires: Ottoman Empire, Russia, and Austria Hungary. It had multiple water sources and water ways which caused it to be strategically vital. One of the victims, Eric Dale, was working on a major analysis when he was laid off. He hands his coworker Peter Sullivan his USB, which contains the major analysis. Peter stays late and cracks the issues and calls his coworkers and bosses in about the financial disaster he had discovered. He had discovered that the company is about the crash. While Peter is concerned about the discovery and the negative impact it could have on the company, Seth is goofing around and telling Peter that everyone is going out but him and that he should have few drinks at The Grand to celebrate that they did not get laid off like many of their coworkers. Peter then calls Seth when he discovers what is on the USB and Seth complains about leaving the club and coming back to the office at 10:00pm. Compared to Peter, Seth cares more about the well being of himself than of the survival of the company. For example, when Peter and Seth are in the taxi, Seth pulls out a large beer and asks Peter if he wants one, Peter says no and Seth says What, we got them on our way to meet you at the office ... we didn t know what the fuck you wanted to talk about ... I thought you got a chick pregnant or something. Even after Seth knows how bad the situation is, we still find him joking about it. Seth s laid back demeanor of sitting and drinking a beer shows that he is not influenced by the stresses around him. Someone who really cared about the firm would be taking these matters very seriously. Peter makes a comment about the people walking around outside and says, Look at these people, wondering around...they have no idea what is about to happen, and Seth replies ... • 45. Vape Essay 51VAPE: THE BEAST IN THE EAST (Revision July 17, 2015) Before Hip Hop became the phenomenal mainstream success it is today, it was born struggling on the streets of New York. Pioneers like DJ Kool Herc and Coke La Rock laid down the foundations, and then crews like Grandmaster Flash the Furious Five, The Sugar Hill Gang, Afrika Bambaataa and Universal Zulu Nation came along to cement the culture. They organized block parties, had emcee and break dancing battles, sold mix tapes out of the trunks of their cars. They d hustle anything they could to make it big on the cold mean streets. You had to be tough, you had to be bold, and you had to risk everything in order to gain anything. The struggle continues the hustle never stops. Today, the Vaping culture faces similar challenges that early Hip Hop did in the past. No one knows this more than David Le, the owner of 51Vape, the first and best Vape Shop in Albany, Upstate New York. • 46. Presumed Innocent Essay Presumed Innocent Innocent until proven guilty has been an important mantra in US law. The burden of proof remains on the prosecution to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty. This principle guides the premise that wrongly accusing the incident is a greater harm than not punishing the guilty, and sets a clean slate to build on in the minds of the Judge and jury. Additionally, this principle protects from unreasonable accusations assuming that significant evidence must be present first. Opposite of this philosophy would be guilty until proven innocent. In societies following this philosophy the accused must jump through hurdles to prove they are indeed innocent. Imagine, for example, you come home after a long day, flop down on the couch and fall asleep watching TV. Suddenly, bursting into the room comes the police, arresting you for robbing the convenience store down the street. You were there, you were asleep, but how do you prove this, the clerk said you did it. How do you proceed? Unjustly charged, potentially punished, having the presumption of innocence would have protected you. While Presumed Innocent is the mantra in the courts, it rarely is practiced in the court of public opinion. As seen in the movie Presumed Innocent the lead character, Rozat Sabich, was charged with a highly publicized murder. Being a public figure in the midst of an election, his arrest was publicized heavily in the media. As the story leaked out, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. “the Dollar Store’s Food and Cigarettes Strategy Is Working” The article is about the variety retail store chain Family Dollar s approach to increasing sales and competing against not only other variety store retailers but against, convenience stores and mega retailers as well. Last Year, Family Dollar decided it sold enough cheap detergent and school supplies what it needed was food and cigarettes. Its research found that many of its customers smoke, and smokers tend to make frequent trips to buy cigarettes maybe they d pick up some groceries and whatnot while they were there. Food is also something people buy frequently, so the combination hopefully would boost traffic. (BusinessWeek.com/Articles/2013 10 10/the dollar stores) Last Wednesday the company reported that there consumables category, which includes food and tobacco increased 16.9% to 7.5 Billion in the 12 months ended in August. Had they been wrong, who knows how adversely this strategy could have been to the company. Appealing to smokers and using there needs to smoke and buy other consumables is a risky approach considering how many people feel about the adverse effects of tobacco. When I saw the strategy and approach I was intrigued. I have never been a smoker and I have never shopped at any dollar store including Family Dollar. I always looked at them as a novelty supplier, I never knew they carried these types of products or the type of assortment listed in the article. By really focusing on their customers, and there needs to purchase certain consumables, and to purchase them often, I can see how Family Dollar can be extremely successful. By competing at the price level for products they can put dents in revenues streams for mega retailers Wal mart and Kmart. By offering these lines of products and be ... • 50. Pride And Prejudice And The Pursuit Of Happiness Summary Claudia Johnson critical article response Claudia Johnson in her essay, Pride and Prejudice and the Pursuit of Happiness, claims that happiness is the centralized theme of the novel, Pride and Prejudice. Johnson suggests that the element of happiness carries the weight of political and social commentary, a comment preceded by a litany of examples. One example being Darcy s struggle to find happiness in his independent choice of marrying Elizabeth while combating his sense of self consequence [that] is characterized by a haughty determination to be mortified by everyone outside his small circle (349). Johnson also defends Austen from critics who claim the novel supports a fairytale style happy ending that doesn t resolve the political or social issues brought about in the novel s opening pages. Johnson combats this criticism by stating the political resolution can be found not within the novel s closing pages, but within the actions of the characters. Johnson goes further to state that Austen s care to establish the standards of her characters happiness provides us with index of their moral imaginations, tempers, and resources that enable us to engage in judicious moral evaluation without resorting to the conclusive moralizing characteristics of some of her contemporaries (350). Johnson evaluates that each character serves a role not only in the narrative, but more importantly as manifestations of Austen s own social commentary of her era and social/political ...
