How Does Mark Twain Use Satire In Huckleberry Finn
The Satiric Adventure Through Mark Twain s South Satire is the use of comedy, exaggeration and
ridicule to criticize people for what they do, what they create, or who they are. Mark Twain uses
extensive satire in his novel to depict what he thought the ideology of the South was during this time.
Twain denounces many staples of Southern life, during the time period of the book. Racism, religion,
and family feuds were substances able to be found anywhere in the South. Twain chooses to excoriate
these things because his opinions on these topics vary vastly from what the common mentality was in
the South. Perhaps one of Mark Twain s most satirized topics in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
is racism. In his novel one of the most racist characters is Huck s father Pap. Pap gets frustrated when
a black person is more educated than him or has nicer clothes. Call this a govment!...there was a free
nigger there (Twain 36). This quote tells the reader that Pap thinks part of the reason the ... Show more

The specific feud in the novel is between the Grangerfords and the Shepherdsons. These two families
have been fighting so long that the current generation do not even know why they are fighting one
another. Did you want to kill him, Buck? Well, I bet I did. What did he do to you? Him? He never
done nothing to me. Well, then, what did you want to kill him for? Why, nothing only it s on account
of the feud (Twain 118). There are two things Twain could have been trying to portray. The Hatfields
and Mccoys had a feud in the South for several years which directly mirrors the book. The feud could
also represent the bigger Civil War that has just ended in Twain s time of writing the novel. The
senseless violence and extremely high death toll, the Civil War was a silly war in Mark Twain s eyes
as by the end not one side really won. It just abolished the thing that should have ended decades

Oreskes Climate Change
Climate Change There have been plenty of disputes regarding the infamous topic global warming,
despite the fact that there is a unanimous scientific consensus on anthropogenic climate change. A
history professor at UCSD, Naomi Oreskes, discusses this in her article, The Scientific Consensus on
Climate Change . She begins her investigation by researching credible experts and environmental
organizations, such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change (IPCC), the National Academy of Sciences, and several others. By utilizing these
various sources as evidence it strengthens her argument about the scientific consensus on
anthropogenic climate change. In this case, Oreskes audience consists of ... Show more content on

The content in which the author s argument is structured is crucial to the overall effect of her article.
She begins with a statement describing how some feel uncertain about climate change and more
specifically the disagreement about anthropogenic climate change. Subsequently, the author proves
her main claim that humans are affecting climate change with supporting evidence from credible
organizations. She continues to examine her gathered evidence to reinforce her argument as factual,
and not merely opinion based. Towards the end of her article, she generates an emotional tone our
grandchildren will surely blame us if they find that we understood the reality of anthropogenic climate
change and failed to do anything about it , which connects her to the audience (par. 9). This advances
her purpose because she then asks the readers to take action and listen to climate scientists, who have
tried to make anthropogenic climate change clear to the public (par. 10).
Likewise, Chris Mooney, a journalist and author who evaluated the relationship between scientists and
the public, discusses the similar issue about climate change in his article, If Scientists Want to Educate
the Public, they Should Start by Listening. He begins by gathering information generated from
scientists and the public to determine why most people refuse to believe scientists on

The Theme Of Blindness In Cathedral By Raymond Carver s...
In the short story Cathedral, author Raymond Carver uses the narrator of the story as a model for his
purpose: blindness is subjective. Throughout the text, we are taken on a journey of self discovery as
the narrator changes from being judgemental and shallow to having an epiphany and realizing that an
individual s worth goes beyond their outward appearance; that the greatest and most deep connections
are achieved by looking at one s heart.
The narrator of Cathedral , also known as the husband, is judgmental, jealous, and emotionally
disconnected from his wife. Throughout Cathedral , he displays feelings of disgust and confusion
toward his wife s relationships with men of her past. As he waits for his wife and the blind man to
come into the house he makes an observation: I saw her get out of the car and shut the door. She was
still wearing a smile. Just amazing (4). Although the character is seemingly confident in the status of
his relationship with his wife, his interjections of judgment throughout the text reveal feelings of
insecurity. Him finding it amazing that his wife would be smiling for a prolonged amount of time
suggests that her reaction is not typical or an emotional reaction that she gives him.
Throughout Cathedral the narrator assumes himself to be superior to the blind man, Robert, making
snippy comments about his disability and rationalizing that his blindness prevents Robert from doing
normal tasks to pleasing his wife. When his wife begins to

The Jesus Movement Occurred Within The Intertestamental Era
The Jesus Movement occurred within the intertestamental era. The movement had one foot in the past
on the other in the future as this period emerged. Before Christianity stepped out on its own, it was
considered to be a sect of Judaism. Hellenism acted as a veneer over the everyday life of Jews, but
beneath that veneer, the Jewish worldview dominated the Gospel, not pagan Hellenism (Eddy, 2014).
The claim that the Trinity is a Hellenistic pagan corruption of the early church was denied by recent
research. Early Christianity was rooted in Jewish theological thought and like Judaism, the new faith
guarded its identity (Eddy, 2014).
One of the best kept secrets in the Christian church is the large role that women played in the early
church. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christian and secular writers credited women with the growth of the church (Krueger and Kroger,
2012).
There is nothing inherent in the character of Christian ministry as it is presented in the writings of the
New Testament which would give reason for the exclusion of women. On the contrary, the New
Testament portrays Jesus treating women as equal human beings. It also portrays women and men
serving side by side in the various ministries of the early church . . . According to the evidence, the
exclusion of women from ecclesiastical ministry is neither in accord with the teaching or practice of
Jesus with that of the first century church (Bacchiocchi, 1987).
Contrary to Rabbi ben Azariah s remark that Rather should the words of the Torah be burned than
entrusted to a woman . . . Whoever teaches his daughter the Torah is like one who teaches her
obscenities, the Holy Spirit was poured out on all the disciples, men and women alike, on the Day of
Pentecost (Bacchiocchi, 1987). Peter quoted Joel to solidify that Your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy. . . and on my menservants and my maidservants in those days I will pour out my Spirit
(Acts 2:17 18). Maidservants meant that women had received the gift of the Holy Spirit (Bacchiocchi,
1987).
Jesus was revolutionary in that he treated women and men as equals and violated many Old Testament
regulations and traditions that indicated gender inequality. Robinson (2012) stated many examples of
how Jesus treated women

An Effective Technique For An Organization
Changes affect every person in a business, including the managers and the employees. Managing
modifications in a business can be difficult and countless people within an organization can be
resistant for various reasons. Participation is considered an effective technique for reducing resistance
to change, other techniques includes education and communication, facilitation and support, and
negotiation.
Change in a business can be uncomfortable since it requires surrendering a certain way of thinking
and performing processes and implementing a novel way to accomplish a business goal. Encouraging
employees to participate in the alteration can be one of the utmost ways to reduce the resistance to
change. An employee who participates in the process of the conversion is further likely to embrace the
change. Therefore, one way is to encompass groups that will be affected by innovative procedures in
the development of fresh ideas. In other words, ask workers for their opinions and suggestions and
integrate their solutions. If people are given the opportunity to seize responsibility for specific parts of
a program their sense of ownership will craft stronger advocates. Also valuable input can be gained
from employees who really perform the day to day work as management may not have the
information needed to change the design. Before making slight adjustments anyone who will be
affected or who opposes the transformation should be brought into the decision making process,
provided they

Brazil World Trade Essay
Brazil World Trade
From the 1500 s to the 1930 s the Brazilian economy relied on the production of primary products for
exports. For three centuries Brazil s economy was heavily curbed because since Portugal discovered
Brazil, they subjected it s economy to an imperial mercantile policy or a strictly enforced colonial
pact. Even though Brazil received its independence in 1822, Portugal s phase of decisions left a
lasting, powerful imprint on Brazil s economy and society. In the late eighteenth century, when wage
labor was adopted and slavery was eliminated considerable changes finally began to occur. Only
starting in the 1930 s were the first steps taken to convert key structural changes by changing Brazil

By the early 1990s, Brazil was producing about 1 million motor vehicles annually and about 32,000
units of motor driven farming machines. It also was consistently producing 1.8 million tons of
fertilizers, 4.7 million tons of cardboard and paper, 20 million tons of steel, 26 million tons of cement,
3.5 million television sets, and 3 million refrigerators. In addition, about 70 million cubic meters of
petroleum were being developed yearly into fuels, lubricants, propane gas, and a wide range of
petrochemicals. Furthermore, Brazil contains 161,500 kilometers of paved roads and more than 63
million megawatts of installed electric power capacity.
Despite the respectable figures, the economy is not considered developed. Although the economic
changes since 1947 increased the countries per capita income above US$2,000 in 1980, per capita
income in 1995 was still only US$4,630. Structural change and growth have not distorted drastically
Brazil s awfully unequal distribution of opportunity, wealth and income. Even with striking
increments in economic growth and output, the number of poor has increased sharply. The rural area
of Brazil s Northeast Region, or in the country s large cities or metropolitan areas is where the greatest
concentration of the poor reside. The mission of fixing the country s development pattern has only

Bubonic Plague Of Afro-Eurasia
The bubonic plague, or Black Death, was a deadly disease that swept throughout the Afro Eurasion
landmass. Carried by black rats, the bacillus, Yersinia pestis, wiped out two thirds of the population in
some areas of China, Muslim towns, Southwest Asia, parts of the European population, as well as
parts of North Africa. The ramifications of the plague varied from place to place, but it commonly
effected areas of Afro Eurasia socially, politically and economically negatively. Politically, the plague
affected manorial systems where serfs left the manor in search of better wages. There were also
peasant revolts because the nobles resisted peasant demands for higher wages. Because of a

Pros And Cons Of Tariffs
Pros and Cons of Tariffs
Principles of Macroeconomics
Columbia Southern University

Angelo Jones
Managing the how goods and services enter or leave this country (import/export) is an important
process that allows for us to control the economic status of our nation. Sometimes imposing tariffs on
the goods imported balances our labor cost, resources and government supported industry. A tariff by
definition is a tax or duty to be paid on a particular class of imports or exports.
Economic policy of nations and states, tariffs are tools used to control the flow of goods, services and
resources being brought into the country. The overall purpose is to create security for the domestic
industry from the imported product. These products can sometimes be less expensive to purchase than
the goods being manufactured in the local economy. (McEachern, 2015) The government does this
either stimulate or deflate trade with other countries. (Fontinelle, 2012)
There are quite a few forms of tariffs that the government may apply based on the condition of the
country s economic welfare. The pros and cons of these forms of tariffs will be reviewed. Discussion
on how these tariffs positively or negatively affects the economic stance of the country will be
displayed. Tariffs such as the ad valorem, the taxing a percentage of the value of an item and the
specific tariff or tax which is a set amount based on weight or sum of items. (McEachern, 2015)

Middle Class Family Research Paper
The Cadburys were an ideal example of how a middle class family could succeed during the industrial
revolution. In Western England, the Cadbury family owned a small cloth and dry goods store, which
flourished because of the industrial revolution. The Cadbury retail store ran by Richard and Elizabeth
Cadbury, benefited greatly from the new sources of supply and expanding demand for cloth. This
demand was derived from the industrial revolution making materials readily available to the public.
The industrial revolution also brought more people into cities, resulting in more people able to buy
these cheaper newer items. After years of expansion and growth, Richard and Elizabeth made enough
money to move out to the suburbs and help their son John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Cadburys were not different; they too followed the characteristics of a middle class family early
on. In the Cadbury family and many other middle class families it was normal for the man to be the
respected economic provider. But, the wife of Richard Cadbury, Elizabeth, also helped out the family
business by running it while Richard was gone. On top of her duties to help out at the store, Elizabeth
also had to fulfill her responsibility of running the household. They had eight children, which was
actually considered a high amount for middle class families during the industrial revolution. The
Cadbury sons would be sent off to be apprentices in different cities while the daughters would stay
and learn how to work at the shop, the house, and the garden. During this time it was also common for
shopkeepers and their families to live above their own store, which is what the Cadburys did until they
earned enough money to move to the suburbs. All of these actions were very common amongst the
Cadburys and middle class during this time. Certain values were upheld from family to family because
they fit the status quo of the

The Rise Of The Middle Class
For decades now, our political and economic policy have been constructed around one idea: that if
taxes on the rich go up, job creation will go down. This idea has been the backbone of Republican
trickle down Reagan economics and has been scarcely challenged by Democrats. America s economy
as well as the global economy as a whole are facing extreme income inequality and this idea has only
widened the gap. Our political system has been flooded with the money of the rich through lobbyists
or super PACs, who then are the ones receiving the tax cuts and are garnering political favors by doing
so, effectively moving us farther from a free and fair democracy, but rather towards oligarchy. The

Hanauer begins his argument by comparing the fallacy on hand to another fallacy we once believed,
which turned out to be dead wrong: For thousands of years people were sure that earth was at the
center of the universe. It s not and an astronomer who still believed it was, would do some lousy
astronomy. In doing this, Hanauer seeks to bring out the duh! response out of people and relate it back
to the argument at hand. The argument being that if a policy maker who believed that the rich and
businesses are job creators and therefore should not be taxed, would make policy equally as lousy.
Although he incites the emotional response in the reader he also backs it up with facts and his
experience as one of the plutocrats. He cites his experience as well as,going into some basic economic
theory: I have started or helped start, dozens of business and initially hired lots of people. But if no
one could have afforded to buy what we had to sell, my businesses would have all failed and all those
jobs would have evaporated. He uses this to pivot to his next point, which is the main point of the
argument: That s why I can say with confidence that rich people don t create jobs, nor do businesses,
large or small. He backs it up with his theory, which is a basic economic principle of demand when
broken down: What does lead to more employment is a circle of life like feedback loop between
customers and business. Not only is it not the rich who create

Non Meat Eating Lifestyle Can Be Difficult Essay
There has always been a negative remark towards people that choose not to eat meat. I have been a
pescartrain, a person that abstains from eating any meat except fish, for three years and most of the
time people tend to either assume that I want to lose weight or try to convince me that it is an
unhealthy lifestyle. They always say, you aren t getting enough protein , or one of my personal
favorites, so, you only eat salad? . As absurd as it sounds, I get asked this multiple times either from
people I just met and even my family. People often stereotype vegetarians as skinny and extremely fit;
however that is not the case. Adapting to non meat eating lifestyle can be difficult; however there are
many benefits. Even though many people assume vegetarians do not get enough protein, becoming a
vegetarian can decrease the chances of certain cancers and heart diseases.
The idea of abstaining from meat has been around for a long period of time. According to Claus
Leitzmann from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition it has been around since the sixth century
B.C. and originated from the Orphic mysteries followers. A greek philosopher by the name of
Pythagorean, and other influential persons promoted ethical vegetarianism until the 19th century. After
that it begin to fade away until it was reintroduced during the Renaissance Era and the Age of
Enlightenment. When people were informed of the benefits of becoming a vegetarian or vegan, a

The Objectives Of Positivism
It has to recognise that the positivism doctrine is complex in terms of explaining succinct and precise
manner due to the fact that there are major differences among settings researchers make use of
positivism. The variations for clarifying positivism might be equal in number of authors that addresses
the area of research philosophy. However, within its spirit, positivism is dependent on the idea that
reveals science is the only approach to learn about the truth (Alasuutari Brannen, 2008).
Interpretive, critical and positivist sociology comes up with unique observing standards and depicting

Representations Of Discovery In Robert Frost s Tuft Of...
It takes a monumental experience to recognise discovery and to that extent the composer s manipulate
their ideas on discovery and represent them in a way that is memorable. Robert Frost s Tuft of flowers
, Mending wall and Jean Marc Vallée s Wild have intertwining ideas of Nature and Relationships that
leads to emotional and intellectual discoveries. In this speech I will present to you my understanding
of how Representations of discovery are made memorable through the composer s ways of
communicating .
In Robert Frost s Tuft of flowers , the connection of man and nature leads the composer to make an
emotional discovery. Frosts unorthodox rhyming style of having 5 iambs in each line makes the poem
unique and its quest to realising discovery unique. With that in mind by choosing an unusual form,
Frost makes the idea apparent to me in a way that is memorable. Also Frost contrasts the flower with
the cut grass shows that he has encased a connection between them and himself as he recognises the
beauty of the flower in ...and led my eye to look/At a tall tuft of flowers beside a brook this new
understanding lead him on the path of finding the emotional discovery. Through this poem, Frost
showed me that discoveries can lead to refinding yourself and finding new perceptions and by
demonstrating this idea he has further my understanding of discovery through the notion of making it
memorable.
In the notion of discovery, a connection with nature leads to an unparalleled growth in one self as
shown by Jean Marc Vallée s Wild . Like Frost s Tuft of flowers , Wild shows the connection to nature
is essential to the path of discovery. Vallée uses naturalistic lightning on the face of his character to
shows the emotions, and expressions the character has on the various of landscape from the desert to
the snow. The uses of the lighting highlights the changes of the characters emotion throughout her
journey across the land and thus illustrates her new found discovery of her emotions. In some sense,
both Tuft of flowers and Wild , makes their ideas memorable by using different techniques to elevate
their characters, by doing so the concept of discovery becomes more apparent to me.

From the 14th to 18th centuries in Europe, torture was a very common thing of the legal process of a
majority of the European countries and even the Roman Catholic church. The Roman Catholic church
used torture as a way of punishing heretics at the order of inquisitors. The Inquisition played a big part
in the world of torture. The inquisition was a church founded in medieval times that was setup to find
and prosecute heretics. The punishments for being a heretic were extreme punishments, stuff you
would cringe at thinking about, such as the vise. You might have seen this device on the movie
Casino. The victims head would be put in the vise and then the executioner would begin to tighten a
little screw at the top of the vice, causing the victims head to start to compress. This technique was
used a lot for getting people to confess.
The Inquisition was greatly defended during the middle ages. People saw it as okay, since it was a
religious thing. Father Saint Augustine perceived Luke
14:23; So the master said to the servant, Go out to the country roads and lanes and make people come
in, so that my house will be full. , as biblical proof of endorsing the punishment of heret ics. The Art

Comparing Voice In Poetry And Psalms 6
Voice is a main force that drives along a piece of literature, it adapts to new paths and takes on new
meanings based on the speaker, addressee, context, and many other factors. In If You Want to Sing
from Islamic Mystical Poetry and Psalms 6, through similar basic structures, both writings deploy
voice in order to describe suffering and affirmation of each respective speaker s position. However,
through this fundamental parallel, the differences in the particularities of the voices employed are
further highlighted. The similarity in the general voice and structure allow for higher scrutiny of the
individual texts, accentuating the particular differences in emotionality and clarity that the respective
voices carry. Though seemingly different on first look, the two writings follow a similar pattern and
basic plot. In both, there is an encouragement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In terms of voice, generally, both deploy a very declarative voice, announcing their struggles and
sufferings. Towards the end, however, both move to a more affirmative voice that sustain their stable
positions in triumphing against their enemies. Through this similar scheme and movement though
different voices, a greater window is created to inspect more meticulously at the detailed differences
between the two works in terms of voice. Although they both do deploy a declarative voice in the
beginning, there are nuances that give the writings a different meaning and light. Specifically, Psalms
6 brings more emotionality to the way suffering is described. For example, Psalms 6 spends verse two,
three, six, and seven just describing in detail how much anguish is felt. In verse six, crying is
illustrated through two different ways, flooding the bed and drenching the couch, which constructs a
tangible picture in the readers minds. However, this may be due to the fact that there are simply more
details and quantity of the text for the suffering as compared

film reflects on Mr. Kane s life before his death and his legacy. Citizen Kane shows how during the
era, people wanted to have financial security, happiness and to gain material success. Although the
American Dream is still something people want today, Citizen Kane shows how attaining the
American Dream was something less of a dream during its era. The film also show the changes of the
American Dream from dream to myth and explores the dark side of the held belief. The term
American Dream was first coined in 1931 by James Truslow Adams. The term is defined as, anyone in
America can gain wealth and status as long as he or she worked hard, regardless of their social status.
For instance, in one of the most significant scene, it showed a young Charles Foster Kane playing
outside in the snow with his sled, while his mother watches him from inside the boarding house. In

Arguments Against Legalizing Marijuana
The legalization of marijuana and other controlled substances is a highly discussed and controversial
topic. Opponents have generally repeated arguments formed from long lasting government
propaganda in the past, and proponents have been working tirelessly to break down those
preconceptions. There are many arguments for and against the legalization of marijuana, and in many
ways it is the same discussion that led to the end of prohibition. Generally, the opposing arguments are
geared toward moral standards and focus on correlation as causation; the arguments for legalization
are generally based on university studies and case studies from other countries and states that have
already legalized marijuana. This essay will attempt to dispel the ... Show more content on

It is necessary that a federal agency be created to control the standardization of production,
manufacturing, distribution, and vending of products containing THC, just as there are agencies
controlling over the counter medications, alcohol, and tobacco. I have proposed that this agency be
called the Federal Marijuana Regulatory Agency (FMRA). This agency will oversee the
implementation of legalization, furthermore, it will function as the standing agency for all marijuana
related commerce and practices. The policies enforced by the FMRA will include but are not limited
to the following: All THC containing products will be marked as such and present a warning of the
negative effects. Furthermore, all THC containing products will display an ingredient list and potency
information. The manufacture and production of any THC containing products will be subject to all
OSHA regulations, and all safety and standards practices in the FMRA guidance manual. Any
discrepancies found during annual inspections will incur a fine of up to $25,000, based on annual
sales. No person under 21 will be eligible to work in direct contact with any THC containing products.

Southwest s Long Term Strategy
With the vision and purpose of existence, Southwest s long term strategy is to provide superior service
with low cost targeting point to point destinations. When compared with its competitors, Southwest s
business model leverages the operations, resources and strategies very efficiently to minimize costs.
The following are the few techniques/strategies which exemplify the success of Southwest s
operations. For over decades, Southwest chose small and midsize airports in big cities, where its
competition is relatively low. Using small airports is hassle free due to less traffic and congestion with
an access to major markets. This allowed the southwest to reduce its turnaround time when compared
to its competitors. This increased the aircraft utilization¬ by allowing aircraft to log more hours in the
air. This is quite opposite to the way the other major airlines operate. Yet, the southwest strategy gave
a competitive edge to gain market share and to achieve scale economies. Other airlines use hub and
spoke system (anywhere to everywhere system) where passengers from small markets (spokes) fly to
major airports (hubs) and then consolidate the passengers to long hauling flights. Challenging the
conventional practice of the airlines industry, Southwest adopted a point to point system where
services are catered to each origin to destination (i.e. a city pair) via nonstop flights (Gerald N. Cook,
2008). This reduces the travel time as there are no intermediate stops and

Optics In The Tuxedo
Common wisdom tells us that if something looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and talks like a duck,
then most likely, it is a duck. We all know, however, that this is not always true.
The idea of optics is captured perfectly in a scene from the movie The Tuxedo. Jackie Chan is working
for a millionaire and in the scene the millionaire turns to Jackie and says, It s 90% the suit.
What he is referring to is the optics of a situation what perception the picture creates.
In Australian politics, the Federal Treasurer, Mr. Joe Hockey, was photographed smoking a cigar at the
time when he was bringing down a tough budget in parliament. The imagery was all wrong and the
press had a field day depicting Mr. Hockey as a fat cat, smoking cigars while the common man
battled. The depiction was completely unfair and most people knew it, but it was an association Mr.
Hockey was never able to fully shake.
Optics is the non verbal, subliminal messaging that surrounds the actual message. When it comes to
stakeholder management, optics is central to everything. It is the backbone to effective

Asian Americans And Hispanic Americans
Categories, groupings, assumptions, classification; it s like society is built to expand yet isolate, to be
authentic yet alike. We form assumptions which turn into the ordinary or the norm. If one person is a
certain way then surely everyone like them is like that also. Two of the many cultures and ethnicities
we have placed stereotypes amongst are the Asian Americans and Latino Americans. We have placed
assumptions about who they are which only perpetuates the classification and, essentially, the
isolation. Have you ever heard the phrase, oh, is he Asian? That s why they act like that, they all do.
What a way of making a, perhaps, false assumption and classifying one person into a group of
millions of people. Asian Americans have long been depicted as brainiacs in contemporary media. We
see them as technologically advanced and extremely intelligent. When I was in high school, it was the
Asian kids that you wanted to sit next to and the ones you wanted in your group because they always
had the right answer. We see them as taking on the medicinal or engineering careers. Although many
do hold positions in these job categories, we have to know that not all Asian Americans align their
lives to society s classification. Furthermore, not only are they positively portrayed in the media; they
are also given negative stigmas. They are thought of as terrible drivers. I have seen countless movies
where the reckless and careless driver is assumed to be Asian American. This

Clothing In The Nineteenth Century
Throughout history clothes have a wide variety of meaning, and clothes can simply hint at one s
fashion sense, they also serve to be a reflection of their owner s social and political status. People
throughout the centuries have utilized garments to express their wealth, and or social and political
status. While flaunting wealth can be the product of an ostentatious home for Roman Senators or
commissioned portraits of royalty, clothes have also been a significant factor in this show of wealth.
Social/Political classes are also affected by clothing, people at the top of the classes showed off their
wealth through the clothes that they wore. The classes affected how people were treated as

The color of an outfit can be used to identify wealth, or it can become the face of a powerful empire, it

history, after explaining the importance the color of one s clothes the author explained It came to

their victories lead red to be seen as powerful. The author explains that the meaning of a certain color

they indicate the lifestyle of the person. The way one dresses is also affected by the social/political
class that they are in, the people at the top of the classes would dress lavishly, while the people at the
bottom would wear anything that they could afford to wear. Oftentimes, the wealthy would pass laws
that restricted their subjects foods, materials and clothing in order to further separate themselves from
the poor (Fashion Victims, para. 4). In this manner, attire created a visual divide between the
hierarchical ranks. The powerful also determined the manner in which they were treated with the
utmost respect, as were the wealthy, however the poor were treated as if they did not matter at all.

Tables 4 and 5 give values for unequal investment splits between TECO and Gold Hill. If we look at
incremental investments in TECO by 10%, Table 6 shows that the higher the investment in TECO, the
higher the standard deviation, and thus, the higher the risk. This is because as the economy grows,
Gold Hill s expected returns decrease. So since Gold Hill has more risk than TECO, the investment
has a reverse effect on the portfolio. Notice that correlation is negative because of this inverse
relationship. Now suppose a portfolio B consists of $10,000 (50%) in TECO and $10,000 (50%) in the

of the fund risk. If we look at incremental investments in TECO by 10%, Table 9 shows that the higher

Literature Review Literature On Customer Satisfaction
Literature review:
Customer satisfaction has been a famous topic in marketing practice and study research since Cardozo
s (1965) earlyl study of customer effort, demands and satisfaction. In spite of many try to measure and
explain customer satisfaction, there still does not show to be a accord regarding its explanation (Giese
and Cote, 2000). Customer satisfaction is commonly outline as a old used idea judgment concerning a
specific work or service (Gundersen, Heide and Olsson, 1996). It is the answer of an estimate process

The most broader range accepted conceptualization of the customer satisfaction concept is the
expectancy contradict theory (McQuitty, Finn and Wiley, 2000). The theory was made by Oliver, who
aimed that satisfaction level is a moral of the contrast between expected and perceived result.
Definitions of customer satisfaction have been broader discussed from the view of many researchers

Divine Comedy – Pagans in Paradise
Divine Comedy Pagans in Paradise
In the beginning when God created humanity, it was said that He created all humans in His image of
goodness (Genesis 1:27). Dante then adds in his Divine Comedy that God has instilled a certain
predetermined capacity of goodness in each human being as He wills, which should be utilized fully
during life (Paradise 3:84). It would then be assumed, in Dantean thought, that all humans have the
choice to live fully to this capacity and assume a place in heaven upon death, to fail to utilize this
capacity and suffer in Hell for eternity, or to sin and seek repentance at some point in their lives,
allowing them to enter Purgatory. Yet, this statement seems to have certain restrictions when we first

But upon further reading, it is evident that there are pagans in Dante s Paradise. The two examples of
virtuous pagans in Heaven are Emperor Trajan of Rome and Ripheus of Troy. Ripheus was said to
have been baptized after his death while in Purgatory, a thousand years before baptism existed.
Emperor Trajan was supposedly brought back to life by God s sanctifying grace and was baptized in
his second life (Paradise 20:106 108). Unless you believe another human being besides Jesus Christ
was resurrected, this explanation of why Trajan is found in Heaven is invalid. In addition, a reason
must exist why God would show so much concern for Ripheus of Troy to allow him baptism in
Purgatory. Therefore, from a different angle, one must analyze what the virtuous pagans in Limbo are
lacking to explain the presence of Trajan and Ripheus in Paradise.
When Dante encounters these two pagans in Paradise, he immediately questions their presence. He
asks the eagle of the pagans presence there and the bird replies, And to this realm none ever rose who
had not faith in Christ, before or after he was crucified (Paradise 19:104 106). From this statement we
are told that every soul in Heaven had faith in Christ, whether or not they had knowledge of Him. But
how can you have faith in a person whom you do not know? Since it seems impossible for a human to
have faith in someone they have never heard of, it can be assumed that

simple as large print for the vision impaired, to more complex assistive technologies like hearing aids

of assistive technologies inside the classroom is dependent upon many factors. From what support is
provided by the school and other agencies, to the standards and regulations that schools must obeyed

Inclusive Education
Every child has a right to an education and equal opportunity. Special needs schools are becoming a
thing of the past and students are being integrated into mainstream schools. In 1994 ninety two
governments and twenty five international organisations gathered with the belief that all students,
including those with special education needs, are entitled to an education delivered by mainstream
schools (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, 1994). These like minded
governments and international organisations came together to outline a guide for all those schools who
believe in inclusive education. Stated in the guidelines schools and support services were to receive
resources to support student s learning and ensure teachers are well trained (UNESCO, 1994).
Assistive technologies, from Ipads to wheelchairs, would fall under the category of resources.
Assistive Technologies
Assistive technologies are designed and manufactured to make life and learning easier. AT supports
both the teacher of special needs students and the student s development. There is a wide range of AT

Importance Of The British Empire
The Cultural Importance of the British Empire During the reign of Queen Victoria, Great Britain was
the centre of a global empire, controlling nearly one quarter of the Earth. Although only a small
minority of the population of the Empire was actually British, British bureaucrats directly
administrated it. Moreover, Victorian age is often referred to as the period of the Pax Britannica, since
the territories controlled by the British Crown lived under a relative peaceful kingdom. Especially the
motherland enjoyed peace and prosperity; the only wars of this period were the sporadic rebellions in
the distant colonies, which, however, did not trouble the British citizens on the island (Greenblatt 1636

Why Canada Was An Unjust Society
Intro: Following the crash of the US market on October 29, 1929. Unemployment rates peaked in
1933 (500,000) which was twice of what it was in 1921. 1 in 5 people were unemployed. The great
depression was devastating for Canada due to it dependency on farming natural resources. For
example, Saskatchewan experienced record low prices in record history. Provincial income went down
90% within two years. This caused Canada to become an unjust society due to its actions during the
depression; it s treatment of Jewish refugees, and its detainment of Japanese Canadians.

Once in office, Bennett had few tangible visions for drawing Canadians out of the unemployment
crisis. He believed governments should interfere as little as possible in the economy (laissez faire

economy involved conventional policies. Bennett raised tariffs to extraordinary levels in an effort to
guard Canadian markets and convinced Britain to offer Canada some favored trading opportunities. In
Bennett s speech for Pm he said, The Conservative Party is going to find work for all who are willing

Process Essay On How To Pitch A Four-Seam Fastball
Pitching is an artwork, the velocity, accuracy, and curve of the ball determines the success of a pitcher.
Just like every professional athlete in order to be a good player you have to know the fundamentals
such as, how to throw a pitch. In order to throw a pitch one has to follow three key steps: First, grip
the ball; afterward, get ready to throw a pitch; and finally, throw the pitch.
There are several ways to through a baseball, the various grips of the ball determines how your pitch
will curve whether it be diagonally, vertically or even horizontally. There are numerous grips, but the
most basic ones are the four seam fastball and curveball. In order to grip a four seam fastball, spread
the index and ring finger slightly, place the tips of the fingers barely over the laces of the ball, and use
the other fingers to hold the ball firmly. Four seam fastball is a pitch that provides for great location
and velocity. But if one feels the need to trick a batter and add more curve into a pitch, the curveball is
the best choice. In order to throw a curveball, place the index and middle fingers, close and tight next
to each other on the seams, and use the other fingers to grasp the ball firmly. Keep the ball inside the

The Threat Of New Entrants
3.2.3.1 Threat of New Entrants
The threat of new entrants is low in the natural food industry. Economies of scale decrease long run
average costs which generate lower prices for customers and give a firm the ability to expand.
Significant economies of scale for the natural food markets, including Whole Foods, are high, with the
ability to create large volumes with low costs. The barrier for both entering into and exiting from the
industry are strong. Entry to the natural food markets is either supermarkets changing their corporate
images or health retailers moving into supermarkets. The natural food industry is currently
dominating, which expands through new store openings with an assertive approach in its founding
years. Organic food markets diminished their expected comeback to increase volume by choosing
from incumbents through mergers and acquisitions. It is doubtful for local farmers to become a strong
force and enter the market individually since the majority is not willing to invest in getting
authorization with the government. It is easier for major companies to enter the market because they
can finance the kind of goods the consumers are looking for. Network externalities are strong while
there is no impact in spite of government protection of incumbents on profitability.

Developing A Sustainable Marketing And Human Resource...
Description of the Project Proposal
The project requirement as I understand is to develop a sustainable marketing and human resource
structure for a well established Childcare centre that caters for local families with pre school aged
children in the surrounding suburbs and Swinburne University community.
This structure must have a low financial budget and also cater for further expansion in the future. The
client has indicated that they are actively seeking to advertise and raise the view of Kindergarten with
the aim of filling both 3 Year old and 4 year old programs to their capacity. Therefore it is very
important that the planned structure can fulfil the requirements of the clients. It is also mentioned that
the client is very cautious of a structure that all new individuals can follow even if they don t have the
right skills and experience needed to finish the task. This is proposed in the form of the Annual
Marketing Plan, which will be conducted by volunteers who constantly keep changing every year.
Therefore this designed structure must cater for the client with this particular need. Furthermore, the
client has indicated an interest in the professional development of their staff and would like to conduct
programs that would help the staff be motivated in the work they perform. Although this is not yet
confirmed as a definite trial, the designed structure should be able to achieve this possibility.

The Roman empire took a lot longer to conquer due to its size. The Persian empire was taken over a

Psychological Problems
There is evidence that personal beliefs influence the efficacy of common psychological problems
cures. Personal perception and will power over common problems like depression, sexual dysfunction,
smoking, insomnia, and gambling among others is believed necessary in the ability of an individual to
overcome these problems. This social psychology approach is investigated and discussed widely in
social psychology studies like that of Furnham, Hosoe, Koyasu, Ota (2000). This belief is the result of
everyday parlance that describes and associated clinical terms everyday language. Clinical psychiatry
and psychology terms of loneliness, negative thinking and depression are defined in terms like

Multiple Sclerosis Essay
Multiple Sclerosis
(1) One third of a million Americans suffer from MS and a great percentage of those people are
women. Women account for 73% of MS sufferers. (2) MS usually strikes young adults between the
ages of 20 and 40 years old. (8) There are even some cases of MS being diagnosed in childhood.
Multiple sclerosis is a disease that affects the central nervous system, attacking the brain and the
spinal cord. MS attacks myelin, the fatty material that acts as a protective coating to the body s nerves.
(1) The inflammation of the nerve tissues covering the nerves can affect any part of the nervous
system and varies from person to person. (7) Normal nerve function decreases with the onset of MS
because MS causes scars to form on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, what causes MS? What causes the nerves of the bodies of MS patients to obtain scarring?
Why do people get MS? The cause of MS is not known. But is said not to be hereditary. The body s
immune system usually defends it from bacteria, but in the case of MS the immune system is attacking
the myelin. (1) This attack is adverse to the purpose of the immune system and the cause is attributed
to different theories. The one theory is that there is a virus dormant in the body that may be a factor in
the development of MS and alters the immune system s responsibility. (1)
Then there is the theory that common diseases or STD s trigger MS and this initiates the migration of
white blood cells to enter the brain. Once in the brain these white blood cells activate certain parts of
the immune system and thus the immune system begins to attack the myelin that surrounds the nerve.
(1) There is another theory that the scarring of the myelin of the nerve is caused by oxidation injury.
(3) Oxidation injury is seemingly caused by unstable molecules named free radicals. These free
radicals supposedly take electrons from healthy molecules they find in the myelin. These free radicals
are also said to occur when the body has been exposed to toxic chemicals. (5) Free radicals are
described as punching holes in the cellular walls of our bodies. There is another theory that
researchers of MS present. The

Counter Storytelling Of Young Adult Literature
Counter Storytelling in Young Adult Literature: Oh my God! He was right over there! Closer than I d
been to him when Paul laid into him. Much closer. And Rashad was looking at me, too. I locked eyes
with a kid I didn t know, but felt like I did (309). All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan
Kiely sought to address police brutality in America, more specifically Springfield. Rashad and Quinn
are your average high school teenagers, attending the same school not knowing one another but going
about their daily lives when Rashad is brutally beaten by Officer Paul Galluzzo. The taped beating of
Rashad causes both young men to dig deep and answer questions about what is right and what is
wrong. Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely presents counter storytelling in All American Boys to tell a
story of racism and police brutality from the perspective of African American teen (Rashad) and a
White teen (Quinn). According to Hughes Hassell: Counter storytelling is an examination of racism
and its impact on people of color and indigenous people. Racism is defined as a system of advantage
based on race a system that involves cultural messages and institutional policies or practices, as well
as the beliefs and actions of individuals (221). Rashad and Quinn throughout the text seek to answer
the question of race being the motive behind the brutal beating by Officer Paul Galluzzo. How is
counter storytelling used in All American Boys? All American Boys uses

Gone With The Wind Analysis
Gone with the Wind opens with beautiful shots of the Georgian countryside, accompanied by
sweeping romantic music and the sentiment rolling down the screen: There was a land of Cavaliers
and Cotton Fields called the Old South. Here in this pretty world, Gallantry took its last bow. Here
was the last ever to be seen of Knights and their Ladies Fair, of Master and of Slave. Look for it only
in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered, a Civilization gone with the wind (Selznick) The
film explicitly describes its objectives before the audience even sees the famous Scarlett O Hara.
Nostalgia for this old Southern way of life is palpable throughout the entirety of the film and we see
an alternate world portraying benevolent white slaveholders, their complacent, jolly slaves, and the
noble Cause of the confederacy they tirelessly fought for. However, when viewed in the modern
context, this illusion of the South is easily broken and the historical inaccuracies become evident
underneath the appearance of Southern romanticism. Though Gone with the Wind romanticizes
slavery and the Old South and glosses over racial issues, it represents an important part of American
history in its portrayal of white southern attitudes during the civil war.
Gone with the Wind is so broadly interpreted, which makes it is very difficult to say that this film
focuses on one specific aspect of Southern life . From watching the film it is very clear that the
southern pride and way of life is

Why School Should Be A Place For Children
It is common knowledge that children s school performance, including scores on standardized tests of
academic achievement, is associated with their family background, particularly race, ethnicity, and
socioeconomic status. Most Americans believe that schools are places where social inequalities should
be equalized, where the advantages or disadvantages that children experience in their homes and
families should not determine what happens to them in school. It is believed that school should be a
place where children should have equal chances to make the most of their potential. While it is said
that education begins in the home; children in upper middle class housings have more opportunity to
learn before the onset of school, while working class parents have fewer resources to provide their
children with a jump start on education. According to online sources, Stratification between schools,
or school level stratification, separates students into facilities with different curricula, standards or
resources. Implicit stratification results from non academic factors, such as the community, poverty, or
tax base. Explicit stratification separates students on purpose, creating specialty schools to cater to
specific skills. Stratification within schools, is known as tracking, streaming or grouping. This way of
schooling separates students into different courses of varying standards. Placement of students in
specific courses is based primarily on perceived academic

Similarities Between Judicial Activism And Strict...
The Supreme Court is made up of many justices that believe in two different judicial philosophies.
These two philosophies are that of judicial activism and strict constructionism. These philosophies
differ quite a bit from one another, but they both work toward the same main goal. Both philosophies
play a part in court cases when it comes to deciding on a final ruling. Judicial activism is a judicial
philosophy that states that a court has the right to, and should go beyond what is stated in the
Constitution about an issue that is being brought up and look towards broader suggestions of the
impending decision on said issue. Basically, the court strikes down a law and then makes a statement
that [may] change a law or policy in a significant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case the Supreme Court determined that Texas law criminalizing, or essentially trying to outlaw
abortion was unconstitutional. Strict Constructionism, on the other hand, is a distinct legal philosophy
that limits or controls some judicial interpretation. A judge who uses strict constructionism, may reject
the use of legislative history when constructing law because whatever a particular legislator may have
said while on the floor of congress does not necessarily reflect what was put into law (Stankiewicz) .
Justice Antonin Scalia of the Supreme Court is probably one of the most we ll know users of strict
constructionism. In essence, he believes that the Constitution should only ever be interpreted the way
it was written never any different. Scalia also believes that the Constitution should not be susceptible
to any form of updating by any court. In 2015 the Supreme Court ruled on a case about same sex
marriage, Obergfell v. Hodges. The final ruling (holding) of the case, stated by SCOTUSBlog, the
fourteenth amendment requires a state to license a marriage between two people of the same sex and
also to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully
licensed and performed

Taking a Look at a Writing Survey
A writing survey is a content composed by somebody to think about the basic purposes of current
learning including substantive discoveries, and hypothetical and methodological commitments to a
specific point. Expositive expression surveys are optional sources, and thusly, don t report any new or
unique test work. Additionally, a writing survey could be translated as an audit of an unique
achievement. Regularly connected with scholastic situated expositive expression, for example, a
proposition or associate inspected article, a literary works audit generally goes before an examination
proposal and outcomes segment. Its primary objectives are to arrange the current study inside the
assembly of expositive expression and to give setting to the specific spectator. Writing audits are a
staple for exploration in almost every scholastic field A literary works survey talks about distributed
data in a specific branch of knowledge, and some of the time data in a specific branch of knowledge
inside a certain time period. A literary works survey might be simply a straightforward outline of the
sources, however it generally has an authoritative example and consolidates both synopsis and blend.
An outline is a recap of the imperative data of the source, yet an amalgamation is a re association, or a
reshuffling, of that data. It may give another elucidation of old material or join new with old
elucidations. Then again it may follow the learned movement of the field, including real

Should The Vending Machines Be Purchased For An External...
The vending machines are going to be purchased for an external company meeting the requirements
for products that are going to be offered depending on the geographic areas. The machines are going
to be divided in two sections: both with regulated temperature, but one colder than the other to ensure
some products durability. There is going to be also a special door with an electronic tool providing
eggs, which will secure the fragility of the product. The company will also consider to employing a
vending maintenance person that will be a student worker who will have the responsibility of
periodical visits to the machines; maybe once or twice per week to check the inventory and to
determine the good functioning of the different mechanisms and electronic components. However, we
also are going to have technology that is going to allow us to control inventory and sales. 8.3. Permits
As a vending machine company, the business must be certified. Since Smart Vending is going to be
selling food, there are going to be permits to complete, like in any business, vending routes are subject
to state and local laws to obtain proper permits and licenses required by their local ordinances. It is
also important to understand these regulations because those can change depending on the product that
is being offered and also the state that we are competing in. 8.3.1. Americans with Disabilities Act

Personal Property Legal Issue That Martin Faces Essay
I respectfully disagree with your analysis pertaining to the personal property legal issue that Martin
faces. I take issue with the way you are defining bailment and implying that Martin and Benjamin had
an agreement to valet Martins GTO. Therefore, I take issue with your bailment positioning because
that implies that the car thief and Martin had a personal agreement for him to park and return the car. (
National Para Legal, ) states
The issue of whether or not a bailment has been created is important because, once a bailment has
been established, a duty of care attaches to the bailee. Failure to live up to this duty of care can cause
the bailee to be liable for any harm that results to the property from the failure of the bailee to properly
care for the property. However, if there is no bailment (only a custodial arrangement), the custodian
has no affirmative duty to safeguard the property (2016).
However, the only agreement that Martin had implied was with the restaurant, which was made in
good faith. Furthermore, the restaurant failed Martin because of their neglect to maintain their
company s property, which intern lead to the theft.
Moreover, I understand your thought process for the most recent purchaser exercising his good faith
stance. However, I do not believe that stance would hold up in court because of the way the North
Carolina law is written. According to ( North Carolina General Assembly, )
Article 3. Motor Vehicle Act of 1937. Part 8. Anti Theft

The ERS predicts that between 2000 and 2020, per capita spending could rise by 18 percent at full
service restaurants, versus about 6 percent for fast food. The ERS suggests that, while consumers
value convenience, there is a trend toward meals with more variety and amenities traditionally
associated with full service restaurants.
In considering options for consumers to have full service restaurant comforts without having to shop,
cook, and then clean up after meal preparation, use of personal chef services stands out. The trend
toward spending on full service restaurants provides a growing opportunity for a full service meal
provided by a professional in the convenience of the home. According to an Entrepreneur Magazine
article, the personal chef business is among the fastest growing in the country and one of the top six
home businesses to start in 2004. In the referenced article by Paul and Sarah Edwards, they assert that
today s 24/7 lifestyle leads to busy people who love to have meals fixed for them in their own homes.

Fastcat Benchmarking Job
Benchmarking jobs was a critical step in developing grades and ranges. Some of the job descriptions
in the survey data did not clearly relate to the jobs in FastCat, which caused us to avoid those
particular survey jobs. Due to these discrepancies among the job descriptions, we decided to evaluate
the descriptions that most clearly matched the FastCat jobs. For example, in the Business and
Marketing pay structure, the Administrative Aide requires very basic qualifications, such as a high
school diploma and competencies in basic skills, such as word processing and simple administrative
tasks. We felt that this most closely identified with the Office Support 1 position because its
description involved simple word processing tasks as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

organization, the type of work done in the company, their profitability, and their percentage of base
pay to total compensation. We chose organizations that were either small or medium sized that ideally
were software companies. Large companies were also selected, as practically we are still competing
with large companies for similar positions, and the market continues to expand in such a way that
many smaller companies are merging to large size. We also looked at the profitability of the
organization. FastCat s ROA value is 0.24. We chose to look at organizations that were either of the
same level or higher, up to a value of around 5. Choosing all of these particular factors allowed us to

  • 2. How Does Mark Twain Use Satire In Huckleberry Finn The Satiric Adventure Through Mark Twain s South Satire is the use of comedy, exaggeration and ridicule to criticize people for what they do, what they create, or who they are. Mark Twain uses extensive satire in his novel to depict what he thought the ideology of the South was during this time. Twain denounces many staples of Southern life, during the time period of the book. Racism, religion, and family feuds were substances able to be found anywhere in the South. Twain chooses to excoriate these things because his opinions on these topics vary vastly from what the common mentality was in the South. Perhaps one of Mark Twain s most satirized topics in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is racism. In his novel one of the most racist characters is Huck s father Pap. Pap gets frustrated when a black person is more educated than him or has nicer clothes. Call this a govment!...there was a free nigger there (Twain 36). This quote tells the reader that Pap thinks part of the reason the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The specific feud in the novel is between the Grangerfords and the Shepherdsons. These two families have been fighting so long that the current generation do not even know why they are fighting one another. Did you want to kill him, Buck? Well, I bet I did. What did he do to you? Him? He never done nothing to me. Well, then, what did you want to kill him for? Why, nothing only it s on account of the feud (Twain 118). There are two things Twain could have been trying to portray. The Hatfields and Mccoys had a feud in the South for several years which directly mirrors the book. The feud could also represent the bigger Civil War that has just ended in Twain s time of writing the novel. The senseless violence and extremely high death toll, the Civil War was a silly war in Mark Twain s eyes as by the end not one side really won. It just abolished the thing that should have ended decades ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Oreskes Climate Change Climate Change There have been plenty of disputes regarding the infamous topic global warming, despite the fact that there is a unanimous scientific consensus on anthropogenic climate change. A history professor at UCSD, Naomi Oreskes, discusses this in her article, The Scientific Consensus on Climate Change . She begins her investigation by researching credible experts and environmental organizations, such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the National Academy of Sciences, and several others. By utilizing these various sources as evidence it strengthens her argument about the scientific consensus on anthropogenic climate change. In this case, Oreskes audience consists of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The content in which the author s argument is structured is crucial to the overall effect of her article. She begins with a statement describing how some feel uncertain about climate change and more specifically the disagreement about anthropogenic climate change. Subsequently, the author proves her main claim that humans are affecting climate change with supporting evidence from credible organizations. She continues to examine her gathered evidence to reinforce her argument as factual, and not merely opinion based. Towards the end of her article, she generates an emotional tone our grandchildren will surely blame us if they find that we understood the reality of anthropogenic climate change and failed to do anything about it , which connects her to the audience (par. 9). This advances her purpose because she then asks the readers to take action and listen to climate scientists, who have tried to make anthropogenic climate change clear to the public (par. 10). Likewise, Chris Mooney, a journalist and author who evaluated the relationship between scientists and the public, discusses the similar issue about climate change in his article, If Scientists Want to Educate the Public, they Should Start by Listening. He begins by gathering information generated from scientists and the public to determine why most people refuse to believe scientists on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Theme Of Blindness In Cathedral By Raymond Carver s... In the short story Cathedral, author Raymond Carver uses the narrator of the story as a model for his purpose: blindness is subjective. Throughout the text, we are taken on a journey of self discovery as the narrator changes from being judgemental and shallow to having an epiphany and realizing that an individual s worth goes beyond their outward appearance; that the greatest and most deep connections are achieved by looking at one s heart. The narrator of Cathedral , also known as the husband, is judgmental, jealous, and emotionally disconnected from his wife. Throughout Cathedral , he displays feelings of disgust and confusion toward his wife s relationships with men of her past. As he waits for his wife and the blind man to come into the house he makes an observation: I saw her get out of the car and shut the door. She was still wearing a smile. Just amazing (4). Although the character is seemingly confident in the status of his relationship with his wife, his interjections of judgment throughout the text reveal feelings of insecurity. Him finding it amazing that his wife would be smiling for a prolonged amount of time suggests that her reaction is not typical or an emotional reaction that she gives him. Throughout Cathedral the narrator assumes himself to be superior to the blind man, Robert, making snippy comments about his disability and rationalizing that his blindness prevents Robert from doing normal tasks to pleasing his wife. When his wife begins to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Jesus Movement Occurred Within The Intertestamental Era The Jesus Movement occurred within the intertestamental era. The movement had one foot in the past on the other in the future as this period emerged. Before Christianity stepped out on its own, it was considered to be a sect of Judaism. Hellenism acted as a veneer over the everyday life of Jews, but beneath that veneer, the Jewish worldview dominated the Gospel, not pagan Hellenism (Eddy, 2014). The claim that the Trinity is a Hellenistic pagan corruption of the early church was denied by recent research. Early Christianity was rooted in Jewish theological thought and like Judaism, the new faith guarded its identity (Eddy, 2014). One of the best kept secrets in the Christian church is the large role that women played in the early church. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christian and secular writers credited women with the growth of the church (Krueger and Kroger, 2012). There is nothing inherent in the character of Christian ministry as it is presented in the writings of the New Testament which would give reason for the exclusion of women. On the contrary, the New Testament portrays Jesus treating women as equal human beings. It also portrays women and men serving side by side in the various ministries of the early church . . . According to the evidence, the exclusion of women from ecclesiastical ministry is neither in accord with the teaching or practice of Jesus with that of the first century church (Bacchiocchi, 1987). Contrary to Rabbi ben Azariah s remark that Rather should the words of the Torah be burned than entrusted to a woman . . . Whoever teaches his daughter the Torah is like one who teaches her obscenities, the Holy Spirit was poured out on all the disciples, men and women alike, on the Day of Pentecost (Bacchiocchi, 1987). Peter quoted Joel to solidify that Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. . . and on my menservants and my maidservants in those days I will pour out my Spirit (Acts 2:17 18). Maidservants meant that women had received the gift of the Holy Spirit (Bacchiocchi, 1987). Jesus was revolutionary in that he treated women and men as equals and violated many Old Testament regulations and traditions that indicated gender inequality. Robinson (2012) stated many examples of how Jesus treated women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. An Effective Technique For An Organization Changes affect every person in a business, including the managers and the employees. Managing modifications in a business can be difficult and countless people within an organization can be resistant for various reasons. Participation is considered an effective technique for reducing resistance to change, other techniques includes education and communication, facilitation and support, and negotiation. Change in a business can be uncomfortable since it requires surrendering a certain way of thinking and performing processes and implementing a novel way to accomplish a business goal. Encouraging employees to participate in the alteration can be one of the utmost ways to reduce the resistance to change. An employee who participates in the process of the conversion is further likely to embrace the change. Therefore, one way is to encompass groups that will be affected by innovative procedures in the development of fresh ideas. In other words, ask workers for their opinions and suggestions and integrate their solutions. If people are given the opportunity to seize responsibility for specific parts of a program their sense of ownership will craft stronger advocates. Also valuable input can be gained from employees who really perform the day to day work as management may not have the information needed to change the design. Before making slight adjustments anyone who will be affected or who opposes the transformation should be brought into the decision making process, provided they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For three centuries Brazil s economy was heavily curbed because since Portugal discovered Brazil, they subjected it s economy to an imperial mercantile policy or a strictly enforced colonial pact. Even though Brazil received its independence in 1822, Portugal s phase of decisions left a lasting, powerful imprint on Brazil s economy and society. • 10. Pros And Cons Of Tariffs Pros and Cons of Tariffs Principles of Macroeconomics Columbia Southern University BBA 2401 Angelo Jones Managing the how goods and services enter or leave this country (import/export) is an important process that allows for us to control the economic status of our nation. Sometimes imposing tariffs on the goods imported balances our labor cost, resources and government supported industry. A tariff by definition is a tax or duty to be paid on a particular class of imports or exports. Economic policy of nations and states, tariffs are tools used to control the flow of goods, services and resources being brought into the country. The overall purpose is to create security for the domestic industry from the imported product. These products can sometimes be less expensive to purchase than the goods being manufactured in the local economy. (McEachern, 2015) The government does this either stimulate or deflate trade with other countries. (Fontinelle, 2012) There are quite a few forms of tariffs that the government may apply based on the condition of the country s economic welfare. The pros and cons of these forms of tariffs will be reviewed. Discussion on how these tariffs positively or negatively affects the economic stance of the country will be displayed. • 12. Middle Class Family Research Paper The Cadburys were an ideal example of how a middle class family could succeed during the industrial revolution. In Western England, the Cadbury family owned a small cloth and dry goods store, which flourished because of the industrial revolution. The Cadbury retail store ran by Richard and Elizabeth Cadbury, benefited greatly from the new sources of supply and expanding demand for cloth. This demand was derived from the industrial revolution making materials readily available to the public. The industrial revolution also brought more people into cities, resulting in more people able to buy these cheaper newer items. The Cadburys were not different; they too followed the characteristics of a middle class family early on. In the Cadbury family and many other middle class families it was normal for the man to be the respected economic provider. But, the wife of Richard Cadbury, Elizabeth, also helped out the family business by running it while Richard was gone. On top of her duties to help out at the store, Elizabeth also had to fulfill her responsibility of running the household. They had eight children, which was actually considered a high amount for middle class families during the industrial revolution. The Cadbury sons would be sent off to be apprentices in different cities while the daughters would stay and learn how to work at the shop, the house, and the garden. During this time it was also common for shopkeepers and their families to live above their own store, which is what the Cadburys did until they earned enough money to move to the suburbs. • 13. The Rise Of The Middle Class For decades now, our political and economic policy have been constructed around one idea: that if taxes on the rich go up, job creation will go down. This idea has been the backbone of Republican trickle down Reagan economics and has been scarcely challenged by Democrats. America s economy as well as the global economy as a whole are facing extreme income inequality and this idea has only widened the gap. Our political system has been flooded with the money of the rich through lobbyists or super PACs, who then are the ones receiving the tax cuts and are garnering political favors by doing so, effectively moving us farther from a free and fair democracy, but rather towards oligarchy. The middle class has been fading away due to stagnating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hanauer begins his argument by comparing the fallacy on hand to another fallacy we once believed, which turned out to be dead wrong: For thousands of years people were sure that earth was at the center of the universe. It s not and an astronomer who still believed it was, would do some lousy astronomy. In doing this, Hanauer seeks to bring out the duh! response out of people and relate it back to the argument at hand. The argument being that if a policy maker who believed that the rich and businesses are job creators and therefore should not be taxed, would make policy equally as lousy. Although he incites the emotional response in the reader he also backs it up with facts and his experience as one of the plutocrats. He cites his experience as well as,going into some basic economic theory: I have started or helped start, dozens of business and initially hired lots of people. But if no one could have afforded to buy what we had to sell, my businesses would have all failed and all those jobs would have evaporated. He uses this to pivot to his next point, which is the main point of the argument: That s why I can say with confidence that rich people don t create jobs, nor do businesses, large or small. He backs it up with his theory, which is a basic economic principle of demand when broken down: What does lead to more employment is a circle of life like feedback loop between customers and business. • 14. Non Meat Eating Lifestyle Can Be Difficult Essay There has always been a negative remark towards people that choose not to eat meat. I have been a pescartrain, a person that abstains from eating any meat except fish, for three years and most of the time people tend to either assume that I want to lose weight or try to convince me that it is an unhealthy lifestyle. They always say, you aren t getting enough protein , or one of my personal favorites, so, you only eat salad? . As absurd as it sounds, I get asked this multiple times either from people I just met and even my family. People often stereotype vegetarians as skinny and extremely fit; however that is not the case. Adapting to non meat eating lifestyle can be difficult; however there are many benefits. Even though many people assume vegetarians do not get enough protein, becoming a vegetarian can decrease the chances of certain cancers and heart diseases. The idea of abstaining from meat has been around for a long period of time. According to Claus Leitzmann from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition it has been around since the sixth century B.C. and originated from the Orphic mysteries followers. A greek philosopher by the name of Pythagorean, and other influential persons promoted ethical vegetarianism until the 19th century. After that it begin to fade away until it was reintroduced during the Renaissance Era and the Age of Enlightenment. • 16. Representations Of Discovery In Robert Frost s Tuft Of... It takes a monumental experience to recognise discovery and to that extent the composer s manipulate their ideas on discovery and represent them in a way that is memorable. Robert Frost s Tuft of flowers , Mending wall and Jean Marc Vallée s Wild have intertwining ideas of Nature and Relationships that leads to emotional and intellectual discoveries. In this speech I will present to you my understanding of how Representations of discovery are made memorable through the composer s ways of communicating . In Robert Frost s Tuft of flowers , the connection of man and nature leads the composer to make an emotional discovery. Frosts unorthodox rhyming style of having 5 iambs in each line makes the poem unique and its quest to realising discovery unique. With that in mind by choosing an unusual form, Frost makes the idea apparent to me in a way that is memorable. Also Frost contrasts the flower with the cut grass shows that he has encased a connection between them and himself as he recognises the beauty of the flower in ...and led my eye to look/At a tall tuft of flowers beside a brook this new understanding lead him on the path of finding the emotional discovery. Through this poem, Frost showed me that discoveries can lead to refinding yourself and finding new perceptions and by demonstrating this idea he has further my understanding of discovery through the notion of making it memorable. In the notion of discovery, a connection with nature leads to an unparalleled growth in one self as shown by Jean Marc Vallée s Wild . Like Frost s Tuft of flowers , Wild shows the connection to nature is essential to the path of discovery. Vallée uses naturalistic lightning on the face of his character to shows the emotions, and expressions the character has on the various of landscape from the desert to the snow. The uses of the lighting highlights the changes of the characters emotion throughout her journey across the land and thus illustrates her new found discovery of her emotions. The Roman Catholic church used torture as a way of punishing heretics at the order of inquisitors. The Inquisition played a big part in the world of torture. The inquisition was a church founded in medieval times that was setup to find and prosecute heretics. The punishments for being a heretic were extreme punishments, stuff you would cringe at thinking about, such as the vise. You might have seen this device on the movie Casino. The victims head would be put in the vise and then the executioner would begin to tighten a little screw at the top of the vice, causing the victims head to start to compress. This technique was used a lot for getting people to confess. The Inquisition was greatly defended during the middle ages. People saw it as okay, since it was a religious thing. Father Saint Augustine perceived Luke 14:23; So the master said to the servant, Go out to the country roads and lanes and make people come in, so that my house will be full. , as biblical proof of endorsing the punishment of heret ics. Comparing Voice In Poetry And Psalms 6 Voice is a main force that drives along a piece of literature, it adapts to new paths and takes on new meanings based on the speaker, addressee, context, and many other factors. In If You Want to Sing from Islamic Mystical Poetry and Psalms 6, through similar basic structures, both writings deploy voice in order to describe suffering and affirmation of each respective speaker s position. However, through this fundamental parallel, the differences in the particularities of the voices employed are further highlighted. The similarity in the general voice and structure allow for higher scrutiny of the individual texts, accentuating the particular differences in emotionality and clarity that the respective voices carry. Although they both do deploy a declarative voice in the beginning, there are nuances that give the writings a different meaning and light. Specifically, Psalms 6 brings more emotionality to the way suffering is described. For example, Psalms 6 spends verse two, three, six, and seven just describing in detail how much anguish is felt. In verse six, crying is illustrated through two different ways, flooding the bed and drenching the couch, which constructs a tangible picture in the readers minds. This was a thought intriguingly an idea in the film that still resonates today in our society. Citizen Kane (1941) is an important film that reflected society s false belief of the American Dream during its time. The film was directed and starred by Orson Welles and tells a story of a man name Charles Foster Kane, who had everything and who lived an ideal life that everyone wanted to have. However, having many fine possessions of things and a great deal amount of money at his disposal, did not make him happy. The film reflects on Mr. Kane s life before his death and his legacy. Citizen Kane shows how during the era, people wanted to have financial security, happiness and to gain material success. Although the American Dream is still something people want today, Citizen Kane shows how attaining the American Dream was something less of a dream during its era. The film also show the changes of the American Dream from dream to myth and explores the dark side of the held belief. The term American Dream was first coined in 1931 by James Truslow Adams. The term is defined as, anyone in America can gain wealth and status as long as he or she worked hard, regardless of their social status. When compared with its competitors, Southwest s business model leverages the operations, resources and strategies very efficiently to minimize costs. The following are the few techniques/strategies which exemplify the success of Southwest s operations. For over decades, Southwest chose small and midsize airports in big cities, where its competition is relatively low. Using small airports is hassle free due to less traffic and congestion with an access to major markets. This allowed the southwest to reduce its turnaround time when compared to its competitors. This increased the aircraft utilization¬ by allowing aircraft to log more hours in the air. This is quite opposite to the way the other major airlines operate. Yet, the southwest strategy gave a competitive edge to gain market share and to achieve scale economies. Other airlines use hub and spoke system (anywhere to everywhere system) where passengers from small markets (spokes) fly to major airports (hubs) and then consolidate the passengers to long hauling flights. Challenging the conventional practice of the airlines industry, Southwest adopted a point to point system where services are catered to each origin to destination (i.e. a city pair) via nonstop flights (Gerald N. Dante then adds in his Divine Comedy that God has instilled a certain predetermined capacity of goodness in each human being as He wills, which should be utilized fully during life (Paradise 3:84). It would then be assumed, in Dantean thought, that all humans have the choice to live fully to this capacity and assume a place in heaven upon death, to fail to utilize this capacity and suffer in Hell for eternity, or to sin and seek repentance at some point in their lives, allowing them to enter Purgatory. But upon further reading, it is evident that there are pagans in Dante s Paradise. The two examples of virtuous pagans in Heaven are Emperor Trajan of Rome and Ripheus of Troy. Ripheus was said to have been baptized after his death while in Purgatory, a thousand years before baptism existed. Emperor Trajan was supposedly brought back to life by God s sanctifying grace and was baptized in his second life (Paradise 20:106 108). Unless you believe another human being besides Jesus Christ was resurrected, this explanation of why Trajan is found in Heaven is invalid. In addition, a reason must exist why God would show so much concern for Ripheus of Troy to allow him baptism in Purgatory. Therefore, from a different angle, one must analyze what the virtuous pagans in Limbo are lacking to explain the presence of Trajan and Ripheus in Paradise. When Dante encounters these two pagans in Paradise, he immediately questions their presence. He asks the eagle of the pagans presence there and the bird replies, And to this realm none ever rose who had not faith in Christ, before or after he was crucified (Paradise 19:104 106). From this statement we are told that every soul in Heaven had faith in Christ, whether or not they had knowledge of Him. But how can you have faith in a person whom you do not know? Entry to the natural food markets is either supermarkets changing their corporate images or health retailers moving into supermarkets. The natural food industry is currently dominating, which expands through new store openings with an assertive approach in its founding years. Organic food markets diminished their expected comeback to increase volume by choosing from incumbents through mergers and acquisitions. It is doubtful for local farmers to become a strong force and enter the market individually since the majority is not willing to invest in getting authorization with the government. It is easier for major companies to enter the market because they can finance the kind of goods the consumers are looking for. Network externalities are strong while there is no impact in spite of government protection of incumbents on profitability. 3.2.3.2 Power of Suppliers The power of suppliers is medium to high for natural food industry. • 37. Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of Senior Citizens We live in a world where stereotypes tend to affect the way society sees some people. There are many stereotypes about every ethnicities characteristic. What is a stereotype? Well a stereotype is an idea that people have about a group or thing that may be untrue or true. Many confuse the word cliché and stereotype since they have a bit of similarities. They both come from French and have a negative meaning to its definition. Cliché is used as an expression that is overly used with no originality to it and stereotypes tend to be the same but have more negativity towards its phrases. This article examines the beliefs about older workers and focuses more on the relationship of the individuals. Their study considered the interactions, demographic variables (gender, educational level, ethnicity, income level) and the position of the individual who looks over the employees towards the older workers. This article mentions how older people hold a positive outlook when applying for a job but it did also say that the younger people have a much more outlook on the older people. Numbers show otherwise since older workers have filed lawsuits due to the discrimination that some have encountered when applying for a job. The numbers have continued to rise but since the average age has increased in the work industry many companies will realize that employing older workers is key due to their experiences and knowledge they have gained from previous jobs. The author makes a claim that the more experienced older workers may overcome the stereotype that is labeled on them. If more companies tend to hire older workers and not fall into the stereotypes that many employers believe in, then it will be outdated. The stereotype being outdated can lead to a more truthful perception about older workers. There have been three studies from Britton and Thomas that perceived older workers to be less ... • 38. Developing A Sustainable Marketing And Human Resource... Description of the Project Proposal The project requirement as I understand is to develop a sustainable marketing and human resource structure for a well established Childcare centre that caters for local families with pre school aged children in the surrounding suburbs and Swinburne University community. This structure must have a low financial budget and also cater for further expansion in the future. The client has indicated that they are actively seeking to advertise and raise the view of Kindergarten with the aim of filling both 3 Year old and 4 year old programs to their capacity. Therefore it is very important that the planned structure can fulfil the requirements of the clients. It is also mentioned that the client is very cautious of a structure that all new individuals can follow even if they don t have the right skills and experience needed to finish the task. This is proposed in the form of the Annual Marketing Plan, which will be conducted by volunteers who constantly keep changing every year. Therefore this designed structure must cater for the client with this particular need. Furthermore, the client has indicated an interest in the professional development of their staff and would like to conduct programs that would help the staff be motivated in the work they perform. Although this is not yet confirmed as a definite trial, the designed structure should be able to achieve this possibility. Marketing Team and Human Resource Proposals This project proposal ... What causes the nerves of the bodies of MS patients to obtain scarring? Why do people get MS? The cause of MS is not known. But is said not to be hereditary. The body s immune system usually defends it from bacteria, but in the case of MS the immune system is attacking the myelin. (1) This attack is adverse to the purpose of the immune system and the cause is attributed to different theories. The one theory is that there is a virus dormant in the body that may be a factor in the development of MS and alters the immune system s responsibility. (1) Then there is the theory that common diseases or STD s trigger MS and this initiates the migration of white blood cells to enter the brain. Once in the brain these white blood cells activate certain parts of the immune system and thus the immune system begins to attack the myelin that surrounds the nerve. These free radicals supposedly take electrons from healthy molecules they find in the myelin. These free radicals are also said to occur when the body has been exposed to toxic chemicals. • 43. Gone With The Wind Analysis Gone with the Wind opens with beautiful shots of the Georgian countryside, accompanied by sweeping romantic music and the sentiment rolling down the screen: There was a land of Cavaliers and Cotton Fields called the Old South. Here in this pretty world, Gallantry took its last bow. Here was the last ever to be seen of Knights and their Ladies Fair, of Master and of Slave. Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered, a Civilization gone with the wind (Selznick) The film explicitly describes its objectives before the audience even sees the famous Scarlett O Hara. Nostalgia for this old Southern way of life is palpable throughout the entirety of the film and we see an alternate world portraying benevolent white slaveholders, their complacent, jolly slaves, and the noble Cause of the confederacy they tirelessly fought for. However, when viewed in the modern context, this illusion of the South is easily broken and the historical inaccuracies become evident underneath the appearance of Southern romanticism. Though Gone with the Wind romanticizes slavery and the Old South and glosses over racial issues, it represents an important part of American history in its portrayal of white southern attitudes during the civil war. Gone with the Wind is so broadly interpreted, which makes it is very difficult to say that this film focuses on one specific aspect of Southern life . • 44. Why School Should Be A Place For Children It is common knowledge that children s school performance, including scores on standardized tests of academic achievement, is associated with their family background, particularly race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status. Most Americans believe that schools are places where social inequalities should be equalized, where the advantages or disadvantages that children experience in their homes and families should not determine what happens to them in school. It is believed that school should be a place where children should have equal chances to make the most of their potential. While it is said that education begins in the home; children in upper middle class housings have more opportunity to learn before the onset of school, while working class parents have fewer resources to provide their children with a jump start on education. According to online sources, Stratification between schools, or school level stratification, separates students into facilities with different curricula, standards or resources. Implicit stratification results from non academic factors, such as the community, poverty, or tax base. Explicit stratification separates students on purpose, creating specialty schools to cater to specific skills. Stratification within schools, is known as tracking, streaming or grouping. • 45. Similarities Between Judicial Activism And Strict... The Supreme Court is made up of many justices that believe in two different judicial philosophies. These two philosophies are that of judicial activism and strict constructionism. These philosophies differ quite a bit from one another, but they both work toward the same main goal. Both philosophies play a part in court cases when it comes to deciding on a final ruling. Judicial activism is a judicial philosophy that states that a court has the right to, and should go beyond what is stated in the Constitution about an issue that is being brought up and look towards broader suggestions of the impending decision on said issue. Strict Constructionism, on the other hand, is a distinct legal philosophy that limits or controls some judicial interpretation. A judge who uses strict constructionism, may reject the use of legislative history when constructing law because whatever a particular legislator may have said while on the floor of congress does not necessarily reflect what was put into law (Stankiewicz) . Justice Antonin Scalia of the Supreme Court is probably one of the most we ll know users of strict constructionism. In essence, he believes that the Constitution should only ever be interpreted the way it was written never any different. Scalia also believes that the Constitution should not be susceptible to any form of updating by any court. In 2015 the Supreme Court ruled on a case about same sex marriage, Obergfell v. Hodges. • 48. Personal Property Legal Issue That Martin Faces Essay I respectfully disagree with your analysis pertaining to the personal property legal issue that Martin faces. I take issue with the way you are defining bailment and implying that Martin and Benjamin had an agreement to valet Martins GTO. Therefore, I take issue with your bailment positioning because that implies that the car thief and Martin had a personal agreement for him to park and return the car. ( National Para Legal, ) states The issue of whether or not a bailment has been created is important because, once a bailment has been established, a duty of care attaches to the bailee. Failure to live up to this duty of care can cause the bailee to be liable for any harm that results to the property from the failure of the bailee to properly care for the property. However, if there is no bailment (only a custodial arrangement), the custodian has no affirmative duty to safeguard the property (2016). However, the only agreement that Martin had implied was with the restaurant, which was made in good faith. Furthermore, the restaurant failed Martin because of their neglect to maintain their company s property, which intern lead to the theft. Moreover, I understand your thought process for the most recent purchaser exercising his good faith stance.
