Korissa Gozdziak Summer Reading Project Activity #1: Take 100% responsibility for your life. This
principle is all about the fact that no one can change your future but you it s all in our own hands to
decide where we want to go. Excuses and blaming other people won t get you anywhere. On page 14,
it says, You either create or allow everything that happens to you. I m starting to learn that this is true.
Almost everything that happens to me both positive and negative happens because of something I did
in the past. It s my job to think about what my actions today will cause tomorrow, because no one else

Handmaids Tale Analysis
The Handmaid s Tale, a film based on Margaret Atwood s book depicts a dystopia, where pollution
and radiation have rendered innumerable women sterile, and the birthrates of North America have
plummeted to dangerously low levels. To make matters worse, the nation s plummeting birth rates are
blamed on its women. The United States, now renamed the Republic of Gilead, retains power the use
of piousness, purges, and violence. A Puritan theocracy, the Republic of Gilead, with its religious
trappings and rigid class, gender, and racial castes is built around the singular desire to control
reproduction. Despite this, the republic is inhabited by characters who would not seem out of place in
today s society. They plant flowers in the yard, live in suburban houses, drink whiskey in the den and
follow a far off a war on the television. The film leaves the conditions of the war and the society
vague, but this is not a political tale, like Fahrenheit 451, but rather a feminist one. As such, the film,
isolates, exaggerates and dramatizes the systems in which women are the handmaidens of today s
society in general and men in particular. In the Republic of Gilead, children are seen as lawful
possessions of wealthy, powerful couples like the Commander and his wife. As such, women called
handmaids have been reduced to two basic functions, breeding and buying groceries. Moreover, since
women are prohibited to vote, write or read, the grocery store labels all of the products

The Characteristics And Stereotypes Of Latinos El Bandido
Reports show that Latinos are the most underrepresented ethnic group in film affected by stereotypical
issues shown via pictures in our heads and through watching. I concur with this information as
stereotype starts from a personal level, which is definite through meditation, this does not include all
the negative traits portrayed by the out group. Although we have some general stereotypical
agreements within in groups that cannot change. This stereotyping is evident in a case where a
foreigner defines Bandido accurately while a (North) American will involve them with laziness, being
dirty and all sorts of negativity on them. These findings make me feel that Latinos and Americans will
always be contrary to their film industry. The stereotype on Latinos el Bandido is based not only on
ethnic but also behavioral, where they are deemed violent and antisocial, different nationality, as in not
belonging to the North America and psychological where they are associated with alcoholic,
prostitution and being unstable. With this stereotype, Hollywood is seen as a perfect example of the
filmmaking and professionalism, in a way this demeans the Latinos effort in the film. Stereotypical
images are in the cinematic register where they are intentionally included to make film sale and also to
be critical in the narration process. Hollywood stereotyping Latino s poet is common in many films
displaying poverty and crime as part of their livelihood. Moreover, they use standard films

Introduction: Frank Sinatra was born in Hoboken New jersey. Sinatra rose to fame singing in big band
numbers in the 40s and 50s. He had a dazzling array of one of his most iconic being come fly with me

How To Promote Diabetes System
Introduction When it comes to healthcare, any change of services within the systems like new
products have to go through the process of procurement to make sure that the Health Authority is

The Four Core Competencies Used In My Animation Process
Animations are an excellent way of bringing joy to a person while enhancing their experience.
However, for an animation to be successful, the animator should meet the audience based
expectations. As I reflect on my animation project, I will focus on the four core competencies used in
the making of this project.
Critical Thinking The first competency used in my project involved the process of critical thinking.
Before I came up with a story for my animation, I thought about numerous ideas that could potentially
assist me with exploring the basic fundamentals and skills of animation. The first step was to identify
the problem as well as the factors that could influence it. In this case, the type of animation that would
be well suited for children ages two to ten. Once I had a clear picture of the problem and the target
audience, I began to dive deeper into the issue and its possible solutions.
Researching was my second step in the critical thinking process. When using research for this project,
I came up with ideas that were relevant and useful to the task at hand. Consequently, critical thinking
played a crucial role in deciding on new ideas, selecting the best ones and adjusting them if necessary.
This lead to a reasonable solution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unclear terms such as lack of communication, poor listening skills, lack of feedback as well as
physical and verbal distractions can contribute to barriers that affect written and oral communication.
The first step is to identify possible barriers that can cause misunderstandings when communicating.
With that said, written and oral communication did not present a challenge when contacting my
advisor. During our first meeting, I presented my idea in detail to him and received feedback.
Consequently, I was able to have a clear topic for the project due to effective communication with my

Cons Of The Millennial Generation
Millennials are conceivably the most intriguing generation yet. Millennials also known as Generation
Y are described by Bannon Shele as more technologically savvy, better educated, and more ethnically
diverse than generation preceding them (Shele et al.61). Although this may be true, many would
describe the millennial generation as lazy, entitled, and selfish. Many people believe this because
millennials coresidence with their parents until their mid 20 s and in some cases even longer.
Supporters of this assertion state millennials are living at home because they are too lazy to find
sustainable work and too incompetent to save their money in order to afford a home of their own.
However, these claims are just burned out stereotypes of the millennial generation. Millennials are
choosing to live at home not because they are lackadaisical freeloaders, but because they are pursuing
higher education, entering the workforce at a sensitive time, and housing cost are more expensive than
ever before. Millennials are being forced back home after pursuing higher education because of
expensive schooling cost, high student loans, and inability to make payments on these loans while
attending college. In an article published by The Federal Reserve Bank of New York the authors state,
More students are enrolling in college, and students in college are borrowing more to fund their
educations (Bleemer et al. 22). As a result, to an increase in student enrollment and an increase in

Types Of Real Estate Properties
Real estate valuation is also known as property valuation or land valuation and defined as valuing the
real estate property. There are two types of real estate properties: residential and commercial.
Commercial property is a property that is designed for the sale of goods and services or for the
purpose of manufacture of a product. Residential property is a property, building or solely for the
purpose of use by a person or a family to live in on a day to day basis. Examples of commercial
properties are office, buildings, malls, and apartments whereas, residential properties are homes,
single family homes, and condominiums.

Condominium is defined as the collection of building of families along with their land on which they
sit. These can be single family owned, known as detached condominiums or made up of a group of
homes of various families, known as site condominiums. The appraisal of condominium can be done
by income method, in which the returns from the property can be compared with the cost applied in
the property.
Land is the property that can be used for the construction of building or flats, apartments, office,
malls, etc. These have higher value than manufactured homes or buildings as these can be
manufactured at the wish of the owner of the land. The methods used for valuation of land are cost of
development approach and comparison method.
Valuation of Single Family Homes
Sales comparison method is the method that includes the comparison of a property with quite similar
characteristics and with the property that is recently sold. It is the best method to appraise a family
home in a sub urban neighborhood because in suburban areas, a property can be assessed only by
comparing two properties with similar properties. This method is also known as market data approach,
and the condition of the property and the important concepts behind this method are as follows:
The property should be sold in a competitive and open market only in the last year.
The property that is to be compared should be similar to the subject property as much as possible, but

Slavery Vs Indentured Servants Essay
Slavery and Indentured servitude were vital to the success of the British colonies in several different
ways. The difference between slaves and servants is that slaves were owed for life or until their master
decided to let them leave or they died. Indentured servants were granted freedom, safe passage to the
country and land ownership after working the length of their contract, as previously agreed upon. One
of the main reasons slaves and indentured servants were so vital to the British colonies is that they
were cheap and effective labor. They were able to work in the fields planting, fertilizing, watering and
picking the crop when it was ready to be harvested for consumption or profit. Due to the fast harvests,
the Americans were able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1705 there were not many indentures servants anymore. The British colonies started hiring slaves
due to the fact that they were owned for life and they didn t have to be let go due to their contracts
expiring. Slaves also had less rights than indentured servants due to the changes in the slave laws. The
Americans justified enslaving Africans in several ways. The Americans thought less of them; that they
weren t even human but personal property to do with as they pleased. These views all came in to
account due to their skin color being darker. The American s thought they were evil since they were so
dark complected. That they were stupid and couldn t make their own way in the world. They would
make them work long hours in horrible conditions such as out in field all day in the hot sun without
breaks. Their living conditions were horrible, they weren t allowed medical care and were not fed on a
consistent basis. They were beaten, killed and many of the women were sexually abused by their
masters. Many of the slaves died due to malnourishment and disease. The American colonists justified
their actions by viewing that they were taking care of them by providing food, shelter and a means to
live by. That without them they would still be in Africa starving, homeless and

Seder Compare And Contrast
The Seder commemorates Passover, which has been celebrated longer than any other Jewish holiday.
Many Rabbis think the traditions of the Seder were influenced by the Greek Symposium. The
Symposium was a gathering at which ancient Greeks drank wine, ate, sang and discussed many topics.
The Seder is an annual gathering in which Jews mark the beginning of the Passover holiday by
drinking wine, telling stories, remembering their ancestors slavery in Egypt and discussing the concept
of freedom. Although the Seder and the Symposium share a number of similarities, they contrast in
crucial ways. Most importantly, the Seder has religious origins while the symposium does not. This is
evidence that the Seder was not heavily influenced by the Symposium The Seder is a Jewish feast that

At the Seder, all Jews are obligated to participate while only men (other than prostitutes) could
participate in the Symposium. The Seder was based on a historical story and was created to recall an
important holiday while the Symposium did not have any historical component and did not recognize
any holiday. The Seder took place annually while the Symposium transpired whenever the Greeks
wanted to party. Also, the Seder was not a social event while the Symposium was based around
socializing. A substantial difference between these two events was that the Seder included many foods
to symbolize past occurrences while the food at the Symposium did not have any meaning. The final
difference between the two was that wine was only drunk at the Symposium for enjoyment while at
the Seder, the glasses of wine each had a religious significance. The four cups represent the four
expressions by God when he promised to free the Jews from slavery: I will bring out, I will deliver, I

History Of The Cherokee Indians
`The Cherokee Indians were a very modern group of Native Americans; they had successfully blended
into the American way of life. For example, they made their government like the American way,
translated the Bible, and even used American rules for owning property. Life for the Cherokee nation
seemed to be going well, but in 1832 they would have to fight for their land. Gold was discovered in
Georgia, so Georgians wanted to force the Cherokee Indians out, so they would have more gold. The
Cherokee Indians fought in a nonviolent way; they sued. In Worcester v. Georgia (1832), which
followed a similar case from the ear before, Cherokee, Georgia, the Supreme Court ruled that the
Cherokee nation was a sovereign nation and that the state of Georgia

Rainforest Deforestation
Entire ecosystems are filled with unique species, and the frightening reality is deforestation takes the
habitat out from underneath its inhabitants (Bradford 2015). Forests have been cleared at a rate so
astonishingly fast, that over half of all known forests have been compromised. If this type of behavior
continues, the natural world will have to be given a new name, because nothing left will be natural .
Rainforests clearly have an outward benefits, from cleaning the air we breathe, to different diversity
among the species who inhabit this Earth. Organismal density around the equator is exceptionally
high, yet humans feel the need to clear much of that land for different use. Urbanization and the need
for more agricultural space play a critical role in how much land humans clear. What we as a species
forget is how all of these trees and biomes impact the world on a grander scale. Water vapor is needed
to complete the water cycle, but without trees constantly humidifying the air, the cycle becomes less
fluid. Sturdy trees like the ones in much of the rainforest hold the soil and anchor it from eroding.
Because deforestation completely removes all the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The soil can encapsulate the air that is above it, and without trees to purify the air, deforested soil is
left with some nasty, unfiltered chemicals harbored within it (Naseem 2011). Not to mention products
that trees contribute to exclusively, like paper and fiber, would be in fewer supply. A driving factor in
the clearing of trees for land is the need for cattle to be able to graze (Holland 2017). Cattle is an
extremely ineffective way of producing food to feed the world, yet its high demand deems it a
necessity. The trees that cover this planet are like natural lungs that filter out the toxins in the air,
therefore, cutting down our air purifier for something as negligible as meat seems preposterous, yet it

Now, there is one special type of seeing seeing into the future. Seeing into the future is not going to a
fake fortuneteller and asking them to see into the future, rather it means making important choices by

to punish Erick and have Paul hate himself for looking into a solar eclipse their excuse on what

turning point in the timeline of the book. If they had confronted Erick and punish him, much of the
book wouldn t have happened. For example, Erick would have never killed Lucius or done any
robbery. Paul would have never had to live the life of fear and intimadation, rather friendship and

Animals Are Endangered From The Wild Animals
Birds are beautiful in the wild, and they re incredibly cute, but they are not good pets because they
require so much care. Parrots taken from the wild aren t meant to be kept in cages. Birds that are born
to caged birds are still only one or two generations from being tamed. They re not domesticated pets.
The practices that are used to catch birds and bring them to your home are abusive and cruel too.
Responsibility for a Parrot
Parrots are a huge responsibility. They require even more care than other pets like cats and dogs. They
are more complex creatures than dogs or cats too. Scientists have explained that parrots have the
emotional maturity of 4 year old human children. They feel emotions and have emotional demands
that people don t often understand. Since we humans don t understand their emotional needs, we re not
able to meet them, which makes for parrots with emotional problems.
Shipping and Treatment
The wild bird trade is worth billions of dollars, and the people who poach birds from the wild don t do
so humanely. Many birds are traumatized or killed during the process. They re ripped from their
homes, mates and flock with little regard for their emotional well being. Birds fly together, share their
homes and raise their young together. When one bird is taken, the life of that bird changes as well as
the entire flock that had been living together.

Depression is an illness that affects the psyche, the mind the soul and the physical aspects of the

Indeed, cross cultural psychology on depression underlines the different variables that are major
within different cultures and how do they affect the experience of depression and depression itself. For
instance, in a study conducted in a college where the sample was US and Indian students. Within the
Indian community the variables that lead to depression were more likely to be a result of gender issues
whereas in the American college student s community depression was more influenced by gender role
issues in this case it can be seen that both variables lead the depression to be experienced in different
ways through different variables.
As language carries culture, sometimes it happens that a cross cultural translation of research
instruments into different cultures is necessary to be able to conduct adequate research. According to
the study A cross cultural measure of depressive symptoms among Vietnamese Americans it happened
that the definition of depression used in the Western culture was different in the Vietnamese American
culture and somehow difficult to define or measure. Indeed this study has lead to conclude that as the
experiences are totally different and as the mixture of cultures Is deepened, the feelings and the
experience of depression in itself is completely different.

The Art And Reflection Of The Red Room
The rich raspberry red blanketed over the canvas is more than enough to entice it s viewers. The Red
Room, made by Henri Matisse in 1908 is and has been a highly popular piece of artwork. The art
piece captured what it meant to be a fauvist artist with its bright colors and unrealistic appearance.
Matisse and other fauvist artists decided to go against what society decided was normal at the time and
succeeded. My recreation of the Red Room uses the same intensity of color, line, shape, form, texture,
space, unity, balance, contrast, emphasis, rhythm, and proportion to represent the greatly valued art
piece. The Red Room is an oil on canvas artwork that is exceedingly two dimensional while still
showing examples of space. The art portrays a woman setting up a table within a highly saturated red
room. The table and the wall paper are almost indistinguishable if it weren t for the thin wobbly line
that differentiated them. A blue branch like pattern spans from the bottom of the canvas to the top
while staying in the range of the table and wall. Also part of the pattern are vases of flowers that are
additionally outlined in black. On the table are various circular fruits, mainly in the color yellow,
green, orange, and red. Beside the fruit are long round bottomed vases that are half full of some sort of
elixir. The fruit and vases were common to see in Matisse s work during that period, Matisse turned to
a motif common in the works created that year: a room decorated with

The Development Of The Horror Genre Throughout The Years
Makhi Hughes
Section 5
15 November, 2016
Final Semester Paper
The Development of the Horror Genre Throughout the Years Both horror and science fiction explore
the boundaries of what is means to be human (Belton, 272). This is done by emphasizing the
dilemmas of the figures who straddle the border of human and non human (Belton, 273). Horror and
Sci fi contain narratives that take on a form of a search for knowledge that will enable the human race
to overcome any obstacle that involves a supernatural force (Belton, 273); the story lines require a
search or journey to resolve the issue. Horror and Sci fi often overlap when there is a monster featured
in a sci fi film; or when a horror film is set in the future (Belton, 271). The two differ in purpose,
horror, a sub genre for sci fi, was created to generate fear through a figure of a monster or supernatural
being. While Sci fi has a chief purpose of focusing on science and reasoning (Belton, 272). The
development of both genres is created to a number of works done throughout the years. The
improvement of special effects, influences from the original masters of suspense, camera angles, and
heightened elements of the horror film genre has allowed it to maintain its popular demand amongst
audiences for decades.

Media Affects of the Vietnam War Essay
Media Affects of the Vietnam War War is truly a horrific event that unfortunately occurs in our world
frequently. There are a variety of ethical questions surrounding war, such as how much should citizens
know about the fighting? When it comes to reporting the news, it is the goal of the network to report
the news first. The benefit to this is people will turn to them first when it comes to breaking stories.
However if the news is delivered based on speed and not accuracy this can be harmful to society. War
is a very serious event and should not be taken lightly. Therefore, reporters must make sure facts are
correct and unbiased. In both the Vietnam War and our current war we see reporters going to extreme

Lies and corruption capture people. Therefore people will always pay attention to the stories about our
government lying to us. These weapons have still not been found and this is extremely similar to how
the ship may not have ever been shot down in Tonkin. Despite numerous inaccurate reports there were
attempts of trying to report the war accurately. However whenever a news channel would report
Americans getting killed in Vietnam the government would work quickly to cover it up. President
Nixon is quoted as saying the press is our biggest enemy. This one phrase sums up the war. The press
would try to report fairly to the American people, but the government would squash it and make the
press look bad (Media Beat Vietnam War, Solomon and Cohen). Therefore the press would only report
good things so that the government would look highly upon them and give them better seating in
white house briefings. This highly affected the people working in Vietnam. They were forced to be
there, and the stories they were trying to report were not even reported. There are certainly a lot of
examples of war reporting being inaccurate. When we read John Kerry s letters to his mother we
realized what Kerry was telling his mother and what his mother was hearing on TV were two totally
different stories. Kerry wrote to his mother about bloodshed,

What Are Role Playing Games With Simulated Violence...
Are Role Playing Games With Simulated Violence Perilous Or Diverting?
By Kassie Cordier Playing games is something we all do everyday. It can give us a feeling of
excitement in our daily boring lives. But some games aren t as good for us as you might think. Role
playing games with simulated violence can be perilous for us. Although they seem fine on the outside,
they can be very dangerous for our bodies and our minds. Games can alter our brains to think a certain
way and cause us to become inhumane. This is because they can lead to more serious actions, the
player can get hurt, and it can distract us from more important things.
Firstly, role playing games can distract us from more important things. They can make us lose our

For example, a game might lead a kid to believe that hurting other people is okay because as Raise
Smart Kids explained, they get used to being rewarded when they hurt other players. They believe that
punching, yelling or even killing other people is okay. They show how Kids who play video games are
more likely to have violent thoughts and actions. Making yourself think a certain way will make your
brain adjust to as if you were playing the game and soon the player might not be able to decipher
fantasy from reality. Also, many studies have shown that kids who play a lot of video games (a type of
violent game) are not able to connect with others. Violent games can be leading us to something that
we would never do without them.
In conclusion, video games that are violent can be very perilous to not only kids but anyone who plays
them. They can have short and long term effects on your career and the way you think. Violent games
are bad because they can lead to serious actions, the player can get hurt, and because they can distract
us. Making the choice to play this game is not only affecting you but it can affect the people around
you and how they think of you. So next time you go to play games you should think about the

Who Was Quetzalcoatl, the White Alien God? How did the human race manage to pass the test of time

extraterrestrial beings willing to help us grow and prosper in their own image ? According to

Description Of Borderline Personality Disorder
Rationale for diagnosis: I arrived at the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder for several
different reasons. According to the American Psychiatric Association (2013), Borderline Personality
Disorder is defined as A pervasive pattern of instability of interpersonal relationships, self image, and
affects, and marked impulsivity, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts.
One of the defining characteristics within this definition for Borderline Personality Disorder is Frantic
efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment . Robin s case states that she would often verbally
downgrade her companions and then a short time later she would end up worrying that she may have
estranged them. Robin would then do something kind for her companions to keep them close and
remain devoted to her. Robin meets this defining characteristic because, as stated, she becomes frantic
when she feels that someone is going to abandon her and puts forth an effort to do something kind for
them to avoid this abandonment. Another defining characteristic of Borderline Personality Disorder is
A pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between
extremes of idealization and devaluation . (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Robin s personal
relationships with others were said to be quite abnormal; she would rapidly and with no reason shift
from one mood to another. This seems to describe a pattern between Robin valuing her friends at
times, yet also belittling them at other times in an extreme and alternating manner. Another
characteristic that Robin possesses that is used in describing Borderline Personality Disorder is
Impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self damaging . (American Psychiatric
Association, 2013). The two areas that Robin portrays acts of self damaging are through substance
abuse (in Robin s case, alcohol) and binge eating due to her having Bulimia Nervosa. On a side note,
eating disorders, particularly bulimia, are common in people with Borderline Personality Disorder;
almost 25% of bulimics have the disorder. (Zanarini, Reichman, Frankenburg, Reich, Fitzmaurice,
2010), and, up to 67% of the people with this disorder are

Biography on Tupac Shakur Essay
Biography on Tupac Shakur In much the same fashion that Kurt Cobain defined the alternative rock
music scene, Tupac Shakur defined the hip hop scene as we know it today. What made Tupac (also

was real and talked the talk, while walking the walk. Since his death, there s been a deluge of
speculation on who and why, and even if, but unfortunately still no concrete answers exist for any of
these questions. Born June 16, 1971, Tupac Amaru Shakur, who was named after Tupac Amaru, the

run ins with the law were almost as frequent as when he was growing up. In 1992 he was arrested
when a stray bullet killed a 6 year old child during a scuffle between Shakur and two others, though
later charges against Shakur were dropped. In 1993 Tupac was arrested for allegedly shooting 2 off

again dropped. Ironically, one of the Butts County officers was shot in the ass, and in 1998 Deputy
Scott Whitwell won a $210,000 lawsuit for the incident. Then, that same year, Tupac was accused of
sexual abuse against a 19 year old woman in a New York City luxury hotel. Shakur s legal troubles
continued in 1994 when he punched out Menace II Society codirector Allen Hughes and served a 15
day jail sentence for his actions. The sexual charge came to haunt Shakur in that 1994 as he was
convicted and sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison, and to add insult to injury, Shakur was shot 5 times

The Number Of Individuals Who Remain Single

consequently it can be anticipated that the typecasting of single women would be more prominent than
that of single men. Conversely, gender was not found to affect stereotypes of singles. Single men and

capabilities and behavior both stem from good character. Achieving good character will lead to

First Piece Of Art By Maria F. Simoes
The majority of us see art every day, sometimes we just fail to take notice of it. While other times we
notice it, but we fail to really see it. Seeing is a more open, receptive, and focused version of looking. I
was able to see some incredible pieces of art at the Kings Art Center. They were holding an exhibition
by artist Maria F. Simoes and it gave me the opportunity to compare multiple works from the same
artist, which was very interesting. The first piece of art by Maria F. Simoes that caught my eye was
Windmill (2). The Simoes created this piece using oil on canvas, which is her medium of choice for
many of her paintings. This piece is a landscape painting featuring a windmill in a scenic rural setting.
Simoes used color to give the piece some variety, while unifying it using shapes and patterns. The
pattern of the stone walls is mimicked in the stone base of the windmill, while the shapes of the tops
of the bushes is very similar to the tops of the clouds. The red used for the top of the windmill lends
some variety. The color also draws the eye, emphasizing the intended focal point, while creating
interesting contrast.
The artist uses the flower that sets low on the picture plane in the left corner for multiple purposes. It
helps balance the painting, while creating depth. The large flower appears very close to the viewer,
while the windmill seems small in proportion and much further away. The fact that it and the blue
flower in the lower right overlap the stone

Essay on Women s Role in Society in the 1800s
AP American History Women s Role in Society During the early 1800 s women were stuck in the Cult
of Domesticity. Women had been issued roles as the moral keepers for societies as well as the
nonworking house wives for families. Also, women were considered unequal to their male
companions legally and socially. However, women s efforts during the 1800 s were effective in
challenging traditional intellectual, social, economical, and political attitudes about a women s place
in society. The foundation of colleges for women as well as events at women s rights conventions

Women s rights activists influenced the nation to believe that women were men s equals, changing
traditional women social roles. During the 1800 s a husband had legal authority over their wife. In a
sense, he owned her, and for that reason women had little respect in their culture. However, as women
pursued their cause for equal rights, many men began to see women as their equals. This gained them
greater respect within their culture. An example of one of the social changes that occurred because of
women s rights movements was when Lucy Stone kept her maiden name even after she became
married. Fifty years before the women s rights movements began a small event like this would have
never been allowed within the community. As women in the 1800 s fought for women s rights, slowly
female social roles began to change. With the help of the Industrial Revolution, women made
significant strives in changing the traditional economic roles given to females. Before the industrial
revolution the only opportunity for a woman to be financially secure was for that woman to marry a
financially secure husband. This created women s dependence on men because if the man died they
would have no source of income. The Industrial Revolution provided many women with jobs of their
own helping women to become self dependant. This self dependence allowed for women to pursue
interests not involving men, such as

Uniforms Are Necessary For School Uniforms
Uniforms are something that schools should not even consider in their schools. Schools should avoid
uniforms, and instead let the students decide for themselves what they want to wear. Uniforms make
students look more like they are stuck in a prison with their matching outfits than an education center.
Although some people find it necessary to have uniforms, they are needed because they are boring,

Uniforms get boring and there is not a lot you can do with them. You may be able to throw on a scarf

Symptoms And Treatment Of Eisenmenger Syndrome
Eisenmenger Syndrome is a congenital heart defect that is associated with long term elevated blood
flow through the pulmonary vasculature, which tends to cause pulmonary hypertension and increasing
pulmonary vascular resistance (D Alto, 2014). Moreover, this is a heart defect that causes a hole to
develop between two chambers of the heart (D Alto, 2014). The hole causes blood to circulate
abnormally in the heart and lungs. Increased blood flow returns to your lungs instead of going to the
rest of your body (D Alto, 2014.) People with Eisenmenger s syndrome commonly present with
chronic cyanosis and progressive exercise intolerance. People with congenital heart diseases that have
significant untreated left to right shunt lesions are at an increasing risk of developing pulmonary
arterial hypertension (Kopeć et al., 2014). Eisenmenger syndrome was initially described in 1897
when German physician, Victor Eisenmenger, reported on a patient with symptoms of dyspnea and
cyanosis from infancy that subsequently developed heart failure (Kopeć, 2014). The postmortem
description was revealed and a ventricular septal defect was discovered (Dillar, 2006). With that being
said, this had been the first time that the link between a large congenital cardiac shunt defect and the
development of pulmonary hypertension had ever been noted (Dillar, 2006). In terms of the heart, a
normal one has four chambers; the two upper chambers are separated from each other by the atrial
septum (Krexi,

Homelessness is viewed as a social problem of our society because people consider it to be an
undesirable condition. It s something that most people don t want to see or think about. Our
communities share a social responsibility to find ways to eradicate homelessness. The article, Helping
the homeless get off the streets, takes the functionalist approach to eradicating homelessness, in
addition to this approach; the Symbolic Internationalist Perspective would be a beneficial addition to
the solution of homelessness. The field research method needs to be used to experience homelessness
first hand.
The homeless are thought to have caused their own troubles (Kendall, 2010. p. 39). But anybody in
society can fall prey to homelessness at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The homeless also have a hard time securing employment because of the lack of a permanent
residence or identification (Killiam, Joe 2008). The homeless can t go to a job interview if they are
wearing the same clothes they had on yesterday (Killiam, 2008). You also need a permanent address
and phone to be able to get a job (Killian, 2008). The problems continue to mount against the
homeless and it continues to keep them in their cycle of poverty. The article, Helping the homeless get
off the streets, represents the Functionalist Perspective, which comes from the works of Auguste
Comte, the founder of sociology. Comte believed that society was like the human body. Each part
interrelated and assigned to perform different tasks that maintain society as a whole (Kendall,
2010.p.8). The different functions within the societal body would be the social institutions, education,
families in the community and our government (Kendall, 2010.p.8). Each function works in different
ways to provide stability and to make sure social needs are met within the community (Kendall,
2010.p.8). In the article, Helping the homeless get off the streets, states that Jehan Benton, Director of
Guilford County s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness, is working with other entities within the
community to coordinate resources to educate and rehabilitate the homeless. Jehan Benton and the
other entities within the community are using the Functionalist Perspective

liked culture, advertising and marketing have to take part. When reading What We Are to Advertisers
by James Twitchell and Men s Men and Women s Women by Steve Craig, people will realize that the
main audience for advertising and marketing is what causes the popular of the culture to develop. In
What We Are to Advertisers, the article examines that advertising is to not only label a product but to
also label the consumer as they circulate all over this pyramid of social groups. For Men s Men and
Women s Women by Steve Craig, his point of view is not about society purchasers as an entity, but

With a viewpoint like that, he convinced that as they put an end to roost , it will turn into the
customers standard and they will come back to the product over and over again. Advertisement is a
way to pass on the word to the common people about specific products. If we were to take a glance
surrounding our local grocery store, we will see numerous goods that we are well known with. In this
article, advertising goes into much more complexity than just putting a product up for sale to the
public. Twitchell centers on the subgroups that advertisers use to produce and position their ads. Each
and every one of us qualifies into what is named the VALS system, which arranges consumers by
purchasing cravings. There are three principal groups, as well as eight sub groups, all of which can be
constructed into many combinations of consumer. Twitchell also uses diagrams to describe the
different kinds of buyer. The main subjects of the article were, Mass production equals mass
marketing equals creation of mass stereotypes as well as different products have different meanings to
different audiences (193). The Principle Oriented group, which is the first group, is made up of three

poem by using several language techniques such as imagery ,metaphors and onomatopoeia.Which all
follow the technique of instamatic poetry. The poem is a very dramatic visual poem that tells the story
of one of the many crimes that took place in Glasgow, during the 1970 s, in this case the pem centres
around the two youths, that push a couple into a jewellery shop window,to then carry out theft. An

  • 3. Handmaids Tale Analysis The Handmaid s Tale, a film based on Margaret Atwood s book depicts a dystopia, where pollution and radiation have rendered innumerable women sterile, and the birthrates of North America have plummeted to dangerously low levels. To make matters worse, the nation s plummeting birth rates are blamed on its women. The United States, now renamed the Republic of Gilead, retains power the use of piousness, purges, and violence. A Puritan theocracy, the Republic of Gilead, with its religious trappings and rigid class, gender, and racial castes is built around the singular desire to control reproduction. Despite this, the republic is inhabited by characters who would not seem out of place in today s society. They plant flowers in the yard, live in suburban houses, drink whiskey in the den and follow a far off a war on the television. The film leaves the conditions of the war and the society vague, but this is not a political tale, like Fahrenheit 451, but rather a feminist one. As such, the film, isolates, exaggerates and dramatizes the systems in which women are the handmaidens of today s society in general and men in particular. In the Republic of Gilead, children are seen as lawful possessions of wealthy, powerful couples like the Commander and his wife. As such, women called handmaids have been reduced to two basic functions, breeding and buying groceries. Moreover, since women are prohibited to vote, write or read, the grocery store labels all of the products ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Characteristics And Stereotypes Of Latinos El Bandido Reports show that Latinos are the most underrepresented ethnic group in film affected by stereotypical issues shown via pictures in our heads and through watching. I concur with this information as stereotype starts from a personal level, which is definite through meditation, this does not include all the negative traits portrayed by the out group. Although we have some general stereotypical agreements within in groups that cannot change. This stereotyping is evident in a case where a foreigner defines Bandido accurately while a (North) American will involve them with laziness, being dirty and all sorts of negativity on them. These findings make me feel that Latinos and Americans will always be contrary to their film industry. The stereotype on Latinos el Bandido is based not only on ethnic but also behavioral, where they are deemed violent and antisocial, different nationality, as in not belonging to the North America and psychological where they are associated with alcoholic, prostitution and being unstable. With this stereotype, Hollywood is seen as a perfect example of the filmmaking and professionalism, in a way this demeans the Latinos effort in the film. Stereotypical images are in the cinematic register where they are intentionally included to make film sale and also to be critical in the narration process. Hollywood stereotyping Latino s poet is common in many films displaying poverty and crime as part of their livelihood. Moreover, they use standard films ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, for an animation to be successful, the animator should meet the audience based expectations. As I reflect on my animation project, I will focus on the four core competencies used in the making of this project. Critical Thinking The first competency used in my project involved the process of critical thinking. Before I came up with a story for my animation, I thought about numerous ideas that could potentially assist me with exploring the basic fundamentals and skills of animation. The first step was to identify the problem as well as the factors that could influence it. In this case, the type of animation that would be well suited for children ages two to ten. Millennials also known as Generation Y are described by Bannon Shele as more technologically savvy, better educated, and more ethnically diverse than generation preceding them (Shele et al.61). Although this may be true, many would describe the millennial generation as lazy, entitled, and selfish. Many people believe this because millennials coresidence with their parents until their mid 20 s and in some cases even longer. Supporters of this assertion state millennials are living at home because they are too lazy to find sustainable work and too incompetent to save their money in order to afford a home of their own. However, these claims are just burned out stereotypes of the millennial generation. Millennials are choosing to live at home not because they are lackadaisical freeloaders, but because they are pursuing higher education, entering the workforce at a sensitive time, and housing cost are more expensive than ever before. Millennials are being forced back home after pursuing higher education because of expensive schooling cost, high student loans, and inability to make payments on these loans while attending college. One of the main reasons slaves and indentured servants were so vital to the British colonies is that they were cheap and effective labor. • 23. The Art And Reflection Of The Red Room The rich raspberry red blanketed over the canvas is more than enough to entice it s viewers. The Red Room, made by Henri Matisse in 1908 is and has been a highly popular piece of artwork. The art piece captured what it meant to be a fauvist artist with its bright colors and unrealistic appearance. Matisse and other fauvist artists decided to go against what society decided was normal at the time and succeeded. My recreation of the Red Room uses the same intensity of color, line, shape, form, texture, space, unity, balance, contrast, emphasis, rhythm, and proportion to represent the greatly valued art piece. The Red Room is an oil on canvas artwork that is exceedingly two dimensional while still showing examples of space. The art portrays a woman setting up a table within a highly saturated red room. The table and the wall paper are almost indistinguishable if it weren t for the thin wobbly line that differentiated them. A blue branch like pattern spans from the bottom of the canvas to the top while staying in the range of the table and wall. Also part of the pattern are vases of flowers that are additionally outlined in black. On the table are various circular fruits, mainly in the color yellow, green, orange, and red. Beside the fruit are long round bottomed vases that are half full of some sort of elixir. The fruit and vases were common to see in Matisse s work during that period, Matisse turned to a motif common in the works created that year: a room decorated with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Development Of The Horror Genre Throughout The Years Makhi Hughes Section 5 15 November, 2016 Final Semester Paper The Development of the Horror Genre Throughout the Years Both horror and science fiction explore the boundaries of what is means to be human (Belton, 272). This is done by emphasizing the dilemmas of the figures who straddle the border of human and non human (Belton, 273). Horror and Sci fi contain narratives that take on a form of a search for knowledge that will enable the human race to overcome any obstacle that involves a supernatural force (Belton, 273); the story lines require a search or journey to resolve the issue. Horror and Sci fi often overlap when there is a monster featured in a sci fi film; or when a horror film is set in the future (Belton, 271). The two differ in purpose, horror, a sub genre for sci fi, was created to generate fear through a figure of a monster or supernatural being. While Sci fi has a chief purpose of focusing on science and reasoning (Belton, 272). The development of both genres is created to a number of works done throughout the years. The improvement of special effects, influences from the original masters of suspense, camera angles, and heightened elements of the horror film genre has allowed it to maintain its popular demand amongst audiences for decades. Despite numerous inaccurate reports there were attempts of trying to report the war accurately. However whenever a news channel would report Americans getting killed in Vietnam the government would work quickly to cover it up. President Nixon is quoted as saying the press is our biggest enemy. This one phrase sums up the war. The press would try to report fairly to the American people, but the government would squash it and make the press look bad (Media Beat Vietnam War, Solomon and Cohen). Therefore the press would only report good things so that the government would look highly upon them and give them better seating in white house briefings. This highly affected the people working in Vietnam. They were forced to be there, and the stories they were trying to report were not even reported. • 28. Description Of Borderline Personality Disorder Rationale for diagnosis: I arrived at the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder for several different reasons. According to the American Psychiatric Association (2013), Borderline Personality Disorder is defined as A pervasive pattern of instability of interpersonal relationships, self image, and affects, and marked impulsivity, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts. One of the defining characteristics within this definition for Borderline Personality Disorder is Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment . Robin s case states that she would often verbally downgrade her companions and then a short time later she would end up worrying that she may have estranged them. Robin would then do something kind for her companions to keep them close and remain devoted to her. Robin meets this defining characteristic because, as stated, she becomes frantic when she feels that someone is going to abandon her and puts forth an effort to do something kind for them to avoid this abandonment. Another defining characteristic of Borderline Personality Disorder is A pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation . (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Robin s personal relationships with others were said to be quite abnormal; she would rapidly and with no reason shift from one mood to another. This seems to describe a pattern between Robin valuing her friends at times, yet also belittling them at other times in an extreme and alternating manner. Another characteristic that Robin possesses that is used in describing Borderline Personality Disorder is Impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self damaging . (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). The two areas that Robin portrays acts of self damaging are through substance abuse (in Robin s case, alcohol) and binge eating due to her having Bulimia Nervosa. On a side note, eating disorders, particularly bulimia, are common in people with Borderline Personality Disorder; almost 25% of bulimics have the disorder. (Zanarini, Reichman, Frankenburg, Reich, Fitzmaurice, 2010), and, up to 67% of the people with this disorder are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, this is a heart defect that causes a hole to develop between two chambers of the heart (D Alto, 2014). The hole causes blood to circulate abnormally in the heart and lungs. Increased blood flow returns to your lungs instead of going to the rest of your body (D Alto, 2014.) People with Eisenmenger s syndrome commonly present with chronic cyanosis and progressive exercise intolerance. People with congenital heart diseases that have significant untreated left to right shunt lesions are at an increasing risk of developing pulmonary arterial hypertension (Kopeć et al., 2014). Eisenmenger syndrome was initially described in 1897 when German physician, Victor Eisenmenger, reported on a patient with symptoms of dyspnea and cyanosis from infancy that subsequently developed heart failure (Kopeć, 2014). The postmortem description was revealed and a ventricular septal defect was discovered (Dillar, 2006). With that being said, this had been the first time that the link between a large congenital cardiac shunt defect and the development of pulmonary hypertension had ever been noted (Dillar, 2006). In terms of the heart, a normal one has four chambers; the two upper chambers are separated from each other by the atrial septum (Krexi, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The homeless also have a hard time securing employment because of the lack of a permanent residence or identification (Killiam, Joe 2008). The homeless can t go to a job interview if they are wearing the same clothes they had on yesterday (Killiam, 2008). You also need a permanent address and phone to be able to get a job (Killian, 2008). The problems continue to mount against the homeless and it continues to keep them in their cycle of poverty. The article, Helping the homeless get off the streets, represents the Functionalist Perspective, which comes from the works of Auguste Comte, the founder of sociology. Comte believed that society was like the human body. Each part interrelated and assigned to perform different tasks that maintain society as a whole (Kendall, 2010.p.8). The different functions within the societal body would be the social institutions, education, families in the community and our government (Kendall, 2010.p.8). Each function works in different ways to provide stability and to make sure social needs are met within the community (Kendall, 2010.p.8). In the article, Helping the homeless get off the streets, states that Jehan Benton, Director of Guilford County s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness, is working with other entities within the community to coordinate resources to educate and rehabilitate the homeless.
