Natural Selection Lab Report
The sixth lab I completed in Biology 101 taught me how autotrophs (self feeders) and heterotrophs
(other feeders) make organic food molecules by using photosynthesis. Photosynthesis uses the energy
from the sun and it is captured and stored in the chemical bonds of organic molecules. The sunlight
consists of different wavelengths of light. In plant chloroplasts, they have different pigments that
capture different wavelengths of light. Light capturing pigments in green plants are called chlorophylls
and these absorb all the colors of light except green, which is mostly reflected. To separate molecules
from each other according to their solubility in a particular solvent is done by the process of
chromatography. This basically means that polar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ecology is the branch of biology that studies the interactions of organisms with each other, and with
their physical and chemical environments. Another main topic discussed in this chapter is ecosystems.
Ecosystems are habitats or areas that consists of two basic components. Ecosystems include such
things as biotic and abiotic components. Biotic components are living organisms within an ecosystem
and abiotic components are things like sunlight, temperature, and rainfall. Within an ecosystem are
producer and autotrophs. Producers and autotrophs consist of plants, algae, and bacteria. These two
organisms obtain food from inorganic materials and light energy. As to where consumer and
heterotrophs obtain energy by eating plants or the animals that eat the plants. An ecosystem is made
up of several different parts. Each part of an ecosystem is different from the other. None of these parts
within the ecosystem rely on the other. They are all interdependent being either predators or

Reading Reflection
Introduction Of all the topics covered thus far in my coursework at National University, I found the
readings in differentiated education to be of the greatest practical value. This is because I teach middle
school in a school where learning disabled students are included in regular classes. In my classroom, I
employ various Google products (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, Classroom, and associated add ons
including Easy Bib, Speech Recognition, Select and Speak, etc). I also use SeeSaw (where students
create digital journals) and Adobe Spark (which allows students to make educational videos) to help
me with differentiation. Through trial and error, I have found these technological products invaluable
as assistants for teaching learning disabled (and gifted) students. The material in this unit gives me the
theoretical understanding and guidance I need to better differentiate instruction across the curriculum,
with or without the use of technology.
The Iris Center Readings In my Language Arts and History classes, there are predictable groups of
students who finish tasks early or late, while the bulk of the students finish at the same rate. For the
most part, the early finishers are gifted students who are hungry for a challenge which goes beyond
the regular assignment. Many of my slow finishers are also learning disabled; they often struggle with
reading comprehension and/or writing. The Iris reading s discussion of flexible groupings, where
assignments are varied to provide

The Themes Of Geography
Geography is the study of the earth surface or space as the home of humankind. Geography is not
simply about the study of maps and what is and where on the Earth, but also why it is there and not
somewhere else, sometimes referred to as location and space distribution . It also studies whether the
cause is natural or human. There are generally two fields of Geography first, Physical Geography
which studies geography and science to explain characteristics of earth such as landforms; including
mountains, rivers, glaciers, deserts, and ocean and climate that includes temperature, rainfall,
snowfall, humidity, and seasons, and things like natural resources, location of countries and capitals,
maps, features like latitude and longitude, and others ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are separated into new categories according to their main focuses of extent studies about Earth,
nature, or/and human. For example, within the physical geography, the study of the various forms of
the Earth especially, is called geomorphology and the study concerned with soils is called pedology .
Biogeography emphasizes mainly on biology, botany, and ecology and spatial relationship between
animals and plants in the natural sciences, and climatology is the study of the world s climates and
their causes and effects in the past, present, and

Music Appreciation Essay
This was the day I had been dreading. I was participating in the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival,
an event where students share their music with a small class and receive a lesson from the teacher. My
violin teacher and my parents decided that this event would develop my musical skills, so they
registered me with enthusiasm. I, on the other hand, was not so enthusiastic. I had never honestly
enjoyed performing in the past and I was especially nervous about this event knowing that I would
receive a music lesson from an expert violinist after my performance. It did not help to hear stories of
strict, criticizing, and rude teachers from my siblings who had previously done this event either. I
wondered how any good could come from this event. Though only flippantly, I even considered what
would happen if I pretended to be ill or purposely injured my finger. However, before I knew it, the
dreadful day arrived and I realized I would just have to go for it.
I woke up before the sun and groggily prepared to leave. My Mom and my two siblings, Amy and
Aaron, got ready to leave too since Aaron was also performing and Mom and Amy would be
accompanying both of us on the piano. While it was still dark, we boarded a ferry headed for Seattle

technique. Surprisingly, the lesson seemed to pass quickly and when it had ended, I received a sheet of
paper with my teacher s written comments and signature. At the bottom of the paper, I noted my
teacher s signature, Mimi Zweig, but did not think much of it. Breathing a sigh of relief, I went back

Impacts Of The IMF And Greek Debt Crisis
The IMF and Greek Debt Crisis

IMF and the Greek Debt Crisis:
The miracles performed by credit are fundamentally comparable to the miracles an association of
counterfeiters could perform for its benefit by lending its forged banknotes in return for interest. In
both cases, the stimulus to the economy would be the same, and the only difference is who benefits.
Maurice Félix Charles Allais, 1988 winner of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics
(NobelPrize.org, 2015)
Introduction
In 2010, the IMF, along with European Central Bank and the then sixteen members of the European
Union, drew up an economic bailout package in the form of €110 billion loan to rescue Greece from
sovereign default i.e. Greece s inability to pay back its existent debt. This action was a response to the
growing fear of default from (mostly private) investors around the time of the Great Recession and
resultant European debt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Eurostat, (2013), the debt to GDP level in Greece had been over 100% since the
millennium, reaching 127% in 2009 and a staggering 146% the following year (after credit rating
agencies received reports of the growing debt ratio). This caused a crisis of confidence in the market,
which effectively shut the country out of the trade market, as risk insurance for potential
investors/creditors was so high (Wikipedia, n.d.).
The €110 billion loan came, in typical IFI fashion, with conditions which included structural reforms,
economic austerity measures, and mass privatization of government industries and assets. It was
officially launched in May of 2010 by the three aforementioned entities. (This group was since

Maynard On Euthanasia
I am dying and I refuse to lose my dignity. (Maynard). Many people feel this way when they learn
about the life changing statement that they have a terminal disease. Brittany Maynard, who was
diagnosed with a terminal brain disease decided to choose the option of Euthanasia to save her dignity
and leave the world by her own choice and means. Euthanasia is the termination of a very sick person
s life in order to relieve their suffering. A person who undergoes euthanasia usually has an incurable
condition but there are other instances where some people want their life to be ended. This term of
euthanasia is derived from the Greek word euthanatos which means easy death (Nordqvist). This topic
known as euthanasia is a controversial issue that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I probably would have suffered in hospice care for weeks or even months. And my family would have
had to watch that (Maynard). Maynard believes that her family won t be able to see her in a
deteriorating condition therefore decided to opt out of that. Families can t see their loved one in pain
everyday of every hour. I did not want this nightmare scenario for my family, so I started researching
death with dignity .......I quickly decided that death with dignity was the best option for me and my
family (Maynard). Maynard felt that undergoing a treatment for getting rid of the tumor would be
more painful for her and her family. No one can give Brittany and her family a hundred percent
guarantee that tumor would actually go away forever. Doctors confirmed that if Brittany goes under
treatment, she will be the same person she was before treatment meaning that treatment will have side
effects that might affect her for her entire life. The lethal drug used for euthanasia patients is more cost
efficient for people. Soumya Karlamangla, author of Will California s end of life push lethal drugs
over costlier care? explains that drugs that keep one alive are too expensive to afford and have no
guarantee of being helpful while the injection or pills to end life are free of cost (Karlamangla). The
questions of saving money and doctor s guarantee that the incurable disease will go away with
treatment comes into play during making this important choice. Why would one pay more money for a
drug that has no guarantee of saving their life and getting their hopes up when there is a big possibility
that nothing will happen. While the lethal drug also known as the euthanasia drug is much less
expensive and will do its job with certainty. Therefore if one is debating what route to choose when

Water Purification Essay
Water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, biological contaminants,
suspended solids and gases from contaminated water. The goal is to produce water fit for a specific
purpose. Most water is purified for human consumption (drinking water), but water purification may
also be designed for a variety of other purposes, including meeting the requirements of medical,
pharmacological, chemical and industrial applications. In general the methods used include physical
processes such as filtration, sedimentation, and distillation, biological processes such as slow sand
filters or biologically active carbon, chemical processes such asflocculation and chlorination and the
use of electromagnetic radiation such as ultraviolet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most deep groundwater does not need screening before other purification steps. 3. Storage Water from
rivers may also be stored in bankside reservoirs for periods between a few days and many months to
allow natural biological purification to take place. This is especially important if treatment is by slow
sand filters. Storage reservoirs also provide a buffer against short periods of drought or to allow water
supply to be maintained during transitory pollutionincidents in the source river. 4. Pre chlorination In
many plants the incoming water was chlorinated to minimize the growth of fouling organisms on the
pipe work and tanks. Because of the potential adverse quality effects (see chlorine below), this has
largely been discontinued.[3]
Widely varied techniques are available to remove the fine solids, micro organisms and some dissolved
inorganic and organic materials. The choice of method will depend on the quality of the water being
treated, the cost of the treatment process and the quality standards expected of the processed water.
[edit]pH adjustment
Pure water has a pH close to 7 (neither alkaline nor acidic). Sea water can have pH values that range
from 7.5 to 8.4 (moderately alkaline). Fresh water can have widely ranging pH values depending on
the geology of the drainage basin or aquifer and the influence of contaminant inputs (acid rain). If the
water is acidic (lower than 7), lime, soda ash, or sodium hydroxide can be added to raise the pH

A Shape In Truman Capote s A Christmas Story
There must be something to fruitcake. It appears at Christmas every year without fail. And yet, it s
also the brunt of some serious jokes. (Who can forget Johnny Carson proclaiming that there is only
one fruitcake in the entire world: It just gets passed around a lot...)
But thankfully, that s not all there is to it, according to Smithsonian.com. In Truman Capote s A
Christmas Story, some weather officially counts as fruitcake weather, which attests to this seasonal
concoction s staying power and unique deliciousness.
Truth be told, fruitcake in some form goes all the way back to the Romans, who mixed up raisins,
pomegranate seeds, barley, and a plethora of nuts to form what was probably history s first energy bar.
Along the way, people began to add spices. And rum. And even some melted butter and sugary
glazing. It seems that the butt of many people s Christmas jokes is actually quite delicious. It s just
that its reputation hasn t quite caught up with the truth of this holiday treat.
That s where you and your leftover fruitcake come in. You know it has potential to be truly
magnificent, given its long history. You just don t quite know what to do with it. No problem. We ve

Parallelism In Patrick Henry s Speech To The Virginia...
The prominent patriot Patrick Henry once said, I know not what course others may take; but as for me,
give me liberty or give me death! (Henry 7) implying that a life without liberty is not a righteous life.
Henry s quote is included in his popular oratory, Speech to the Virginia Convention , in which he
discusses with the colonists who were under the tyrannical reign of the Crown. Throughout his speech,
Henry lists all of the discrepancies the thirteen colonies had with Great Britain, concluding that there
is no other option, but to retaliate instantaneous. In Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Convention,
he utilizes amplifying loaded words and coherent parallelism in order to influence the assembly to
unify and reciprocate.
Throughout the entirety of his speech, Henry presents amplifying loaded words to bring to attention
the predicament between the two opposing sides. Loaded words are terms of influence by employing
positive or negative connotations. For example, Henry claims in paragraph five, We have petitioned;
we have remonstrated; we have supplicated... (Henry 5). He particularly targets the verb of the
sentences by altering their meaning, to add a kick to the phrase. Rather than state, We have asked; we
have protested, we have begged, Henry offers more potent terms, such as petitioned, remonstrated and
supplicated, to emphasize how perilous the situation between the two countries is, compelling them to
take action. He continues to underline

Europe. After 1870 he was against the idea of expanding Germany and believed that the country was
satiated. Instead, Bismarck wanted to keep the peace among European countries rather than engaging
in war, therefore keeping Germany safe from attack. He planned to do this through the use of gaining

In contrast to Bismarck, Kaiser believed that in order to keep Germany in power and prevent them
from defeat he had to build and strengthen a navy as strong as, if not stronger than England s. In all,
Kaiser s end goal was to make Germany the strongest country in power out of Europe, whereas
Bismarck was content with having good relations with different European countries but also
maintaining his own power throughout the land that he owned.
Bismarck s decisions and policy effected the first World War when he used a series of conflicts to
bring Germany together but also create several enemies. One of these enemies being France played a
big part in World War I later because Germany took the former French territory of Alsace Lorraine.
This conflict that took place during the time of Bismarck s reign gave France a motive to fight against
Germany. Wilhelm on the other hand played a far bigger role in the war. Because of a quarrel amongst
Serbia and Germany, he asked Austria Hungary to attack Serbia and thus pulling Britain, France, and
Russia into the war ( Firstworldwar ). his aggressive tactics and need for power created many enemies
and caused the German Empire to lose a lot of power leading up to the war.

Antibiotic Resistance Is A Growing Problem Throughout The...
Antibiotic resistance is a growing problem throughout the globe. Besides using antibiotics for medical
use, they are being used in the agriculture industry. In animals, antibiotics are being used to treat
diseases, but also to prevent diseases from occurring and to increase the growth of animals
(Mehndiratta, 2014, p.340). In recent years, the evidence of farmers using antibiotics for non
traditional ways has sparked major controversy. In agriculture 90% of antibiotics are used for growth
promoting and prophylactic agents with the other 10% being used to treat diseases (Khachatourians,
1998, p.2). To understand why this occurs, we first must understand the genetic basis for antibiotic
resistance and the occurrence of antibiotic resistance in selected organisms. By farmers doing this an
increase in the number and types of microorganisms resistant to drugs, has increased public health
problems. Finally, management options for reducing antibiotics in the environment have to occur. If
farmers continue to use antibiotics for non traditional uses, as humans we can be affected greatly not
just by food supply, but by water runoff, the air, and even the soil. Also, more public health problems
will occur.
However, to completely understand the effects of antibiotic resistance, we need to understand the
genetic component of how bacteria becomes resistant. An antibiotic can operate at different sites
within the bacterial cell, some infect the cell wall or the membranes, making it

Actor networks and translation of management accounting innovations: A case study of BSC in public
sector organization
Introduction
Number of researchers during 1990 s have paid attention to the complex nature of accounting change
(Briers Chua, 2001). Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and activity based costing (ABC) are considered by
many researchers as prominent new management accounting techniques which have became global
expert systems (Jones Dugdale, 2002; Ax Bjornenak, 2005). The main actors who are involved in the
development of these expert systems can be identified as business schools, consultants, business
media and accounting professional bodies (Major Hopper, 2005). This phenomenon has attracted the
attention of researchers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mainly, as indicated above, there is a relative lack of research that examines the translation of new
management accounting techniques in non Anglo American countries. Secondly, there has been no
research carried out related to adoption of BSC in the public sector in Sri Lanka. During 1996 2003
there were only two research articles published in Sri Lanka which related to BSC and used as a
framework to analyze the rubber goods and tea export firms. Therefore, Sri Lanka as a developing
country provides an immense opportunity to examine how new management accounting techniques
such as BSC travel as a concept to a usable management technique and how new management
accounting techniques are entering organizational practices in Sri Lankan public sector organization.
Background to the Research
A review conducted by Wickramasinghe et al (2007) found that as a new MA technique, BSC has
generally attracted other professionals in Sri Lanka. Further review of events showed BSC have turned
in to an
intellectual property of CIMA (SL) and its members and they appear to be the only propagator of BSC
(Wickramasinghe et al, 2007). They also observe that regardless of several attempts taken by CIMA
(SL) with regard to the number of events, it was not successful in getting out the BSC from
management accountants circle.
However, the content analysis undertaken by the Wickramasinghe et al (2007) further revealed that

Descriptive Essay On The House
The back door of the moving truck slammed shut, making me slightly jump gasping in surprise. I
turned in my seat and look at the house, I ve lived my whole life in. Gloomily I stare remembering all
the happy and sad times I ve had here. come on Kate stop thinking such sad thoughts the new house is
going to be great, I said clapping my hands over my face. The cab driver turned the ignition key, and
the cab rumbled to life. We start rolling forward down the street behind the moving truck. Watching
the houses move past me slowly lulling me to sleep. I close my eyes slipping into the comfort of sleep.
HEY wake up we re almost there the cab driver halfway yelled in his gruff voice. I pop up looking
curiously around me. My face crumples up in concern. I look out the window and I see no houses.
Then, suddenly I see in the distance two houses, one on either side of the street. We pull up to the
houses and the cab pulled into the driveway of one of the house. The moving truck stops on the side of
the road I get out of the cab. I stared unbelievably at the house that we stopped at. I walk inside and
look around. The house is already furnished. The furniture is clean and looks like it hasn t ever been
used. By the time I get outside to help get boxes from the moving truck. The taxi, truck, and all the
people are gone, leaving the few boxes of my stuff in the driveway. I carry the small boxes into my
bedroom. Starting to organize my stuff I hear what I believe to be the doorbell.

The Historical Moment And Legend s Impact On Buddhist...
XuanZang was a legendary Buddhist monk who traveled during the post classical era from AD 627
643. He was also a Buddhologist, traveller, and promoter of culture among the nations of Asia.
Xuanzang traveled the Silk Road which is one of the largest trade routes in the ancient world. On his
long voyage that lasted him sixteen years he introduced religion, ideas, and culture that linked China
to the rest of the Kingdoms of the west. Xuanzang is considered a historical moment and legend who s

Racism And Structural Racism
A prevalent issue surrounding southern historic house museum interpretation today includes, an
acknowledgment of enslaved labor, but not the kind of engaged discussion that would help tourists
identify with that labor in affective ways (Modlin, Jr., Alderman, and Gentry 13). Some sites are
interpreting slavery well, other are not, and some choose not to interpret slavery at all. Sites like
President Lincoln s Cottage and the Octagon House in Washington D.C. vary in methods of
interpretation, but make the effort to establish slavery as a difficult historical truth in the United States.
Examining historic house sites reveal how the absence of comprehensive slavery interpretation
furthers structural racism in our society.
A textbook definition of structural racism would include the normalization and legitimization of an
array of dynamics historical, cultural, institutional and interpersonal that routinely advantage whites
(Lawrence and Keleher 1). Institutional stigmatization of a marginalized community involves the
reinforcing effects of...cultural norms, past and present, continually producing new, and re producing
old forms of racism (Lawrence and Keleher 1). Notable historian Michel Rolph Trouillot observed in
his book Silencing the Past, that U.S. slavery has both officially ended, yet continues in many
complex forms most notably institutionalized racism and the cultural denigration of blackness makes
its presentation particularly burdensome in the United

The Importance Of Being A Good Waitress
I have been waitressing almost two years, during this long period of time, I learned the importance of
being a good waitress. By being a successful waitress I am not only getting excellent tips, but I am
also making my customers remember my service. I enjoy the time I spend talking with my customers
and taking care of them. I meet a lot of interesting people since I have started working at the
restaurant. In order to become a successful waitress, a waitress has to take good care of her customers
and be aware of what is happening in her surroundings. First of all, when I notice that I have
customers sitting in my section, I finish my other chores quickly and walk to my table. Once I am
there, I give them a friendly greeting and ask How are you guys doing today? so we can have some
small talk. This action shows most of my customers that I care and have interest in them. Of course,
everything has exceptions. Some customers do not like it if their server speaks too much, because they
want to enjoy the peaceful and quiet environment. Therefore, I will take their drink orders and
carefully remember any of their special requests. For example, drink without ice, drink with extra ice,
sweet tea without lemon, etc. I promptly go to the kitchen to make their drink orders and bring them
out as soon as possible. After I deliver their drinks, I ask them if they would like to start with some
appetizers. If they do order appetizers, I let the chief know as quickly as possible.

Confederacy. Two important battles in the war, the Battle of Fredericksburg and the Second Battle of
Fredericksburg, were fought there. Consequently, there are many places and landmarks dedicated to
memorializing those who fought in the two major battles. Additionally, as the City of Fredericksburg
was established by an act of the Virginia General Assembly in 1728, it contains more than 350 original
18th and 19th century buildings. Among these are Goolrick s, which operates the oldest soda fountain
in America, the Hugh Mercer Apothecary, and Chatham Manor. Thus, just by walking on one street of

Coat of Arms Assignment for Saatvik Sunkavalli
Section 1: An animal I think represents me, is the spider. The spider symbolizes wisdom and a
hardworking nature. First, I think I am hard working because I always try to do my best at whatever I
do, even if I am bad at it. Also, I work as hard as possible, and I never go for minimum. In my picture,
the spider is working hard to make a web. Second, I think I am wise because I think hard about my
decisions before finalizing them to avoid making irrational decisions. I also consider myself fairly
intelligent, which is a major part of being wise. I showed this in my picture through the color of the
spider. I made it green, which represents wisdom.

I showed the temptingly large potential income by placing stacks of money on the floor in my picture.
Section 4: My most prized possession is my coin collection for a few reasons. First, it has sentimental
value. It contains coins from relatives that I rarely see or are deceased. I represented this sentimental
value by making some of the coins hearts. Second, my collection is valuable. This is means it can be
used in an emergency situation or just to show off. I represented this in my picture by putting a gold
price tag on the binder that my coins are in. The gold color represents the wealth.
Section 5: I chose a musical sword as my symbol of strength. I chose a sword because a good sword in
the Medieval times could be used to show your worthiness as an opponent, and the point of a symbol
of strength on your coat of arms was meant to show your worthiness as an opponent. I made the hilt
red to show the militant purpose that the sword served. The sword is musical to show another one of
my areas of strength. I did this by drawing viola/violin f holes to both sides of the blade. I also added a
piano design to the sword s cross guard. These two instruments were chosen because they are the most
recognizable instruments. They were also the instruments I first learned to play.
Section 6: My dad is one of the most important people in the world to me. This is because he does so

The Bible On Gender Roles In The Bible
The Bible on Gender Roles
The Holy Bible is full of advice on every issue known to humanity. This advice varies in topics from
society s functions to foreign policy and even gender roles. Today s western culture is very confused
when it comes to gender roles, swinging over the last over 50 years from a male dominated society to
a large portion of the feminist society fighting for female dominance and the disappearance of
chivalry. Society is always searching for answers from science and philosophy but constantly fails to
look in the right places. The Bible is the foundation of truth and it requires the ultimate amount of
attention if any community plans to be successful for any length of time. The education of modern
society on what the Bible says about gender roles is necessary to achieve mutual understanding of
beliefs.
The Bible is full of statements and teachings on the topic of gender. Unfortunately, these are often
ignored in the home. For example, the different roles of mothers and fathers. The Bible claims that
mothers are called to be involved in the teaching, nurturing, and mentorship of their children.
According to Proverbs 13:24, fathers are also called to discipline their children, to teach them, and to
mentor them. Parents roles are very similar according to the Bible with the caveat that fathers are
called to be the disciplinarians and leaders of the household. Another example of the differences
between genders according to the Bible is that of a Godly

Comparing Descartes s Meditation And The Existence Of God
In Descartes philosophy he splits up his train of thought into two portions. Both of the papers discuss
his six mediations and his beliefs on existence of things/people. One of the most important highlight
of his meditations is method of doubt . In his first set meditations Descartes outlines the factors that
determines doubt in a belief. This philosophy is not completely correct to me and not convincing that
they are indubitable. Descartes eliminates the beliefs that many have created through reasoning, but
his method of elimination is very broad. I believe in order to eliminate certain things you must have
specific reasons as to why this belief is inaccurate.Having a reason being so vague and broad will only

A person not believing in a higher power will automatically make his foundations correct. The non
believer is only going by scientific information to know that something is for certain. Wheres as a
person who believes in a higher power will automatically question any belief. For instance if I
believed God created man and woman, I do not question that since the bible is where I am building
my belief off of. Whereas a person who is a non believer instantly goes by Descartes beliefs because if
it is not scientifically correct there is no other possible way that is exist. This then causes an argument

Fruit and Robots: Two Operating Systems in the Mobile Market
Apple s iOS and Google s Android operating systems (OS) are both used in similar devices, tablets
and phones. However, the look and feel of both is very different. Smartphones and tablet computers
have become increasingly popular; two operating systems have come to the forefront, iOS, and
Android. Both contain similarities but the way in which they are used, and the devices they are used
on are similar but once the OS s are put on become vastly different. Many other operating systems
have tried, and ultimately failed, to gather market share like both iOS ... Show more content on

This can cause problems for the company because it can fragment their market share as well as
confuse the public. Not all devices run all OS versions, not all devices look the same because of the
skinning that comes from some hardware manufacturers.
One major difference between the two operating systems is the fact that Android is part of the Android
Open Source Project (AOSP) which allows developers access to the Software Development Kit (SDK)
to develop applications for Android devices, which is the most important part of the new Smartphone
market. Apple, as with most things they release have a closed system, you have to pay to become a
developer and develop with tools they proved. This puts a burden on the developers right away
because Android is extensively free, while iOS has an initial cost to even get started, and that s if you
already have an Intel based Mac.
Application development itself is different in the respect that they use different programming
languages to create the applications (apps). Android applications are usually developed using the Java
language but with tools that are available can be created using C, or C++. Apple iOS applications are
created using their own custom software and Objective C language. The approval process one
applications are developed are also much different. With an Android App is developed it can be sold

The Graduate Scene Analysis
The camera singles out the fundamental character in numerous scenes, while different characters stay
out of main interest. Considering over the character s vast minutes in the film, it is possible to assume
that cinematography in the film The Graduate depends on selective focus. For instance, the associated
scene: Benjamin turns out to be exceptionally uneasy because Mrs. Robinson, the spouse of his dad s
partner, lets him know that she finds him very attractive and wants to indulge in an affair with him.
Because of the compelling camera work, sound and music, the emotional state of the primary
character is shown appropriately.
One more scene in the film which sets up the fundamental character is one of the last scenes:

Global Supply Chain
Abstract
The supply chain is a concept resulting from multiple independent entities that affect each other. This
paper will discuss about Wal Mart supply chain it will provide the six component, problems and
approaches to solve the problems. Wal Mart is one of the major retail in the world (Walmart 2011).
Wal Mart is continuously developing its business by developing its services and product portfolio. The
supply chain of Wal Mart is also effective to enhance its effectiveness within the industry
(Hoppenstedt Rathkolb 2005).
Introduction
Wal Mart is the largest multinational company in the retail industry (Cullen and Parboteeah, 2008).

Wal Mart emphasizes on customer demands and determination of customer s satisfaction in
determining places for its stores. Identification of customer demand helps to determine the locations
for store and production facilities close to the consumers (Wal Mart 2011). The selection of
inappropriate locations in other region without considering income level and living standard of the
customers may create problem for Wal Mart in location selection. The analysis of macro and micro
environment before selecting location would be effective to increase the supply chain management of
the organization (Lambert 2008).
Transportation:
Transportation is intimately related to inventory decisions and also with the customer requirements
(Bolstorff Rosenbaum 2007). Wal Mart uses stores to offer its products to the customers and by its
own trucks for delivery (Wal Mart 2011). The use of store and its own truck for transportation may
create problem as strike by the employees may affect the delivery of its goods to the customers that
would affect its market share and customer base. To eliminate this problem, management of Wal Mart
could make arrangement with external transportation companies that will be used in the situation of
strike (Bolstorff Rosenbaum 2007).
Information:
Information is an important component of the supply chain of an organization as it includes collection
of information from end users and to link them with resources

Abstract
There is diversity of forms of government (Laundy, 1989) and different ways of classifying them and
as such, this paper sets out to discuss the budgetary powers of the legislature under different forms of
government, and the environment that informed the political structures. The paper discusses the
different forms of government systems that exist in various countries with specific focus on the

The expansion of budgetary control over the rest of the military and into non military areas during the
Eighteenth Century was slow and inconsistent. However, as Parliament became more accustomed to
allocating funds, some modern concepts and terminology began to develop. In 1733 Robert Walpole,
Whig Prime Minister under George I, began referring to the inauguration of the discussions on the
Crown s proposed expenditures as the opening of the budget. This convention continued, and
gradually by 1800 this usage was universally accepted in England.
In France a conscious effort to make government rational was initiated. Following the lead of the
Philosophers during the Age of Reason, and eager to replace the medieval traditions of the ancient
regime, the French introduced sweeping changes to their government and society during the reign of
Napoleon.
As with the English, except with different motives, Napoleon s first concern was with mastering the
military budget. To obtain better information on, and to control expenditures, he established a Corps
des Comptes. The general who headed this corps became,

The Classification Of Water Imagery Present Throughout...
Shakespeare is renowned for his vividly descriptive, original, and pioneering use of imagery in many
of his plays, but their effect on the audience s understanding of his plays is most obvious in the
tragedies, particularly in Macbeth. Images in Shakespeare s works are used, according to Shakespeare
critic G. Wilson Knight, to craft a play s atmosphere or the permeating tone or mood of a play (3).
However, this attitude between images and atmosphere creates an environment where different
definitions of images contribute to different interpretations of the subjective atmosphere that is born
out of each individual reader s perception of the play. Because of this discrepancy, a strict definition of
the term image should be observed. The term image will refer to physical objects or actions that are
used by Shakespeare to clarify broad themes and character insights throughout the play. Specifically,
the classification of water imagery present throughout Macbeth will be discussed broadly to include
descriptions of rain, water, and the act of cleansing with water, whether or not they are real or
imagined by the characters. Shakespeare uses all of these images to create an atmosphere that
highlights Macbeth and Lady Macbeth s guilt and their subsequent desire to purify their tainted
moralities. In addition to this, Macbeth will be interpreted through the lens of correcting chaos into
order. This righting of natural order is brought forth by the rainstorms of the witches to

SQL Server Proposal for GRW Inc Essay
When CCCL Inc was a small company, keeping records and customer data by the use of spreadsheets,
access databases, and manual records were realistic practices, but as the company has grown, it has
outgrown such practices. Management at GRW is now searching for a centralized database solution
that will allow multi department database collaboration as well as the ability to mine data as needed,
companywide. The proposed solution to the needs of the company is the installation of Microsoft SQL
Server 2012. The following report addresses the type of SQL Server to implement, security for the

a 2.0 GHz or faster CPU is recommended. The server must have at least 1 GB of RAM, and 6 GB of
hard drive space, although according to Microsoft, Disk space requirements will vary with the SQL
Server 2012 components you install (n.d.). The operating system that SQL Server 2012 is installed on
must be Windows Server 2008 SP2 (Datacenter, Enterprise, Standard, or Web Edition), or later. It is
recommended that GRW Inc obtain and implement the Enterprise Edition of SQL Server 2012. The
Enterprise Edition will undoubtedly contain features that the company will not use, by choice or by
lack of necessity, but those features will be available as the company grows and its needs change. Of
particular interest in the Enterprise Edition is the advanced security and advanced high availability
features which are not components of the lesser editions. According to Microsoft, these features add
transparent data encryption, SQL Server auditing, multiple active secondaries, and multi site geo
clustering (n.d.).
Two new physical servers will be needed for the new database, as well as a virtual machine (VM)
installation on one of the existing servers that is underutilized. One of the new servers will host the

will host a high availability replica of the database, and if the need

Argumentative Essay About Kobe Bryant
As it stands today, Kobe Bryant is the best basketball player to have ever played the game. Some
argue that Michael Jordan was better, but he was not. Some argue that Lebron James is better, but he is
not. To compare him to the men who played the center position is a waste of time. Obviously
Shaquille O Neal, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar were more dominant. They were
freaks of nature. What Kobe had that set him apart from everyone else was a skill set and mentality
that is unmatched. Kobe is the best player first and foremost because he was a Los Angeles Laker for
twenty years. Some may say that my bias towards Kobe as a Laker fan discredits my argument, but it
does not. First, a list of his accomplishments. Kobe was drafted out of highschool at the age of
seventeen, broke into the league by winning the Slam Dunk contest in his rookie season, and by age of
twenty five he was a three time world champion. He was the youngest person to be named a NBAAll
Star at the age of nineteen. The combination of his talents with the talents of Shaquille O Neal was the
greatest one two punch of all time. That is an objective fact. Shaq himself has even admitted that had
the duo stayed together after the 2004 season, they most certainly would have gone on to win
additional world championships, but Kobe didn t need Shaq. When it was all said and done, Kobe
ended up with five rings to his name to O Neals four all five with the Lakers I might add. I won t lie,

The Culture, Climate And Material Resources Of The Haida...
HAIDAARCHITECUTRE
Lauren Fraser 300254667 Page Count 2789
Haida architecture evolved from artistic necessity. As isolated island people they had few resources to
trade. They relied on their reputation for artistic design and excellent craftsmanship amongst the
mainland tribes to trade for the resources they needed. This research essay explores the culture,
climate and material resources of the Haida Gwaii (Haida People) First Nation of British Columbia,
Canada.
The Haida People are an indigenous ethnic group of the Pacific Northwest situated along the west
coast of Canada in British Columbia. They are a people mainly from the archipelago of Haida Gwaii
in northern BC as well as Alaskan Haida and the Kaigani peoples which make up the Haida First
Nation.
As a society the Haida are well known for their highly stylized art form that is expressed in their
distinctive carvings and unique traditional house design. Early visitors from the mid 18th century were
astonished by the ingeniousness of the construction of their houses and the level of detail in the
carvings into the wood of their homes and totem poles using only basic technology. (History Museum)
The combination of their culture, the materials they had available and the climate of the islands
heavily influence their architectural style. This also meant they were very isolated from the rest of the
world and had strongly developed their technique of carving and building construction. With advanced
skills

  • 2. Natural Selection Lab Report The sixth lab I completed in Biology 101 taught me how autotrophs (self feeders) and heterotrophs (other feeders) make organic food molecules by using photosynthesis. Photosynthesis uses the energy from the sun and it is captured and stored in the chemical bonds of organic molecules. The sunlight consists of different wavelengths of light. In plant chloroplasts, they have different pigments that capture different wavelengths of light. Light capturing pigments in green plants are called chlorophylls and these absorb all the colors of light except green, which is mostly reflected. To separate molecules from each other according to their solubility in a particular solvent is done by the process of chromatography. This basically means that polar ... • 3. Reading Reflection Introduction Of all the topics covered thus far in my coursework at National University, I found the readings in differentiated education to be of the greatest practical value. This is because I teach middle school in a school where learning disabled students are included in regular classes. In my classroom, I employ various Google products (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, Classroom, and associated add ons including Easy Bib, Speech Recognition, Select and Speak, etc). I also use SeeSaw (where students create digital journals) and Adobe Spark (which allows students to make educational videos) to help me with differentiation. Through trial and error, I have found these technological products invaluable as assistants for teaching learning disabled (and gifted) students. The material in this unit gives me the theoretical understanding and guidance I need to better differentiate instruction across the curriculum, with or without the use of technology. The Iris Center Readings In my Language Arts and History classes, there are predictable groups of students who finish tasks early or late, while the bulk of the students finish at the same rate. For the most part, the early finishers are gifted students who are hungry for a challenge which goes beyond the regular assignment. Many of my slow finishers are also learning disabled; they often struggle with reading comprehension and/or writing. • 5. Music Appreciation Essay This was the day I had been dreading. I was participating in the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival, an event where students share their music with a small class and receive a lesson from the teacher. My violin teacher and my parents decided that this event would develop my musical skills, so they registered me with enthusiasm. I, on the other hand, was not so enthusiastic. I had never honestly enjoyed performing in the past and I was especially nervous about this event knowing that I would receive a music lesson from an expert violinist after my performance. It did not help to hear stories of strict, criticizing, and rude teachers from my siblings who had previously done this event either. I wondered how any good could come from this event. Though only flippantly, I even considered what would happen if I pretended to be ill or purposely injured my finger. However, before I knew it, the dreadful day arrived and I realized I would just have to go for it. I woke up before the sun and groggily prepared to leave. My Mom and my two siblings, Amy and Aaron, got ready to leave too since Aaron was also performing and Mom and Amy would be accompanying both of us on the piano. Impacts Of The IMF And Greek Debt Crisis The IMF and Greek Debt Crisis 11.02.2015 Naama Kates IMF and the Greek Debt Crisis: The miracles performed by credit are fundamentally comparable to the miracles an association of counterfeiters could perform for its benefit by lending its forged banknotes in return for interest. In both cases, the stimulus to the economy would be the same, and the only difference is who benefits. Maurice Félix Charles Allais, 1988 winner of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics (NobelPrize.org, 2015) Introduction In 2010, the IMF, along with European Central Bank and the then sixteen members of the European Union, drew up an economic bailout package in the form of €110 billion loan to rescue Greece from sovereign default i.e. Greece s inability to pay back its existent debt. This caused a crisis of confidence in the market, which effectively shut the country out of the trade market, as risk insurance for potential investors/creditors was so high (Wikipedia, n.d.). The €110 billion loan came, in typical IFI fashion, with conditions which included structural reforms, economic austerity measures, and mass privatization of government industries and assets. Brittany Maynard, who was diagnosed with a terminal brain disease decided to choose the option of Euthanasia to save her dignity and leave the world by her own choice and means. Euthanasia is the termination of a very sick person s life in order to relieve their suffering. A person who undergoes euthanasia usually has an incurable condition but there are other instances where some people want their life to be ended. This term of euthanasia is derived from the Greek word euthanatos which means easy death (Nordqvist). This topic known as euthanasia is a controversial issue that ... Maynard believes that her family won t be able to see her in a deteriorating condition therefore decided to opt out of that. Families can t see their loved one in pain everyday of every hour. I did not want this nightmare scenario for my family, so I started researching death with dignity .......I quickly decided that death with dignity was the best option for me and my family (Maynard). Maynard felt that undergoing a treatment for getting rid of the tumor would be more painful for her and her family. No one can give Brittany and her family a hundred percent guarantee that tumor would actually go away forever. Doctors confirmed that if Brittany goes under treatment, she will be the same person she was before treatment meaning that treatment will have side effects that might affect her for her entire life. The lethal drug used for euthanasia patients is more cost efficient for people. Soumya Karlamangla, author of Will California s end of life push lethal drugs over costlier care? explains that drugs that keep one alive are too expensive to afford and have no guarantee of being helpful while the injection or pills to end life are free of cost (Karlamangla). The questions of saving money and doctor s guarantee that the incurable disease will go away with treatment comes into play during making this important choice. Why would one pay more money for a drug that has no guarantee of saving their life and getting their hopes up when there is a big possibility that nothing will happen. While the lethal drug also known as the euthanasia drug is much less expensive and will do its job with certainty. Therefore if one is debating what route to choose when ... Storage reservoirs also provide a buffer against short periods of drought or to allow water supply to be maintained during transitory pollutionincidents in the source river. 4. Pre chlorination In many plants the incoming water was chlorinated to minimize the growth of fouling organisms on the pipe work and tanks. Because of the potential adverse quality effects (see chlorine below), this has largely been discontinued.[3] Widely varied techniques are available to remove the fine solids, micro organisms and some dissolved inorganic and organic materials. The choice of method will depend on the quality of the water being treated, the cost of the treatment process and the quality standards expected of the processed water. • 10. Parallelism In Patrick Henry s Speech To The Virginia... The prominent patriot Patrick Henry once said, I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death! (Henry 7) implying that a life without liberty is not a righteous life. Henry s quote is included in his popular oratory, Speech to the Virginia Convention , in which he discusses with the colonists who were under the tyrannical reign of the Crown. Throughout his speech, Henry lists all of the discrepancies the thirteen colonies had with Great Britain, concluding that there is no other option, but to retaliate instantaneous. In Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Convention, he utilizes amplifying loaded words and coherent parallelism in order to influence the assembly to unify and reciprocate. Throughout the entirety of his speech, Henry presents amplifying loaded words to bring to attention the predicament between the two opposing sides. Loaded words are terms of influence by employing positive or negative connotations. For example, Henry claims in paragraph five, We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated... (Henry 5). He particularly targets the verb of the sentences by altering their meaning, to add a kick to the phrase. Rather than state, We have asked; we have protested, we have begged, Henry offers more potent terms, such as petitioned, remonstrated and supplicated, to emphasize how perilous the situation between the two countries is, compelling them to take action. One of these enemies being France played a big part in World War I later because Germany took the former French territory of Alsace Lorraine. • 12. Antibiotic Resistance Is A Growing Problem Throughout The... Antibiotic resistance is a growing problem throughout the globe. Besides using antibiotics for medical use, they are being used in the agriculture industry. In animals, antibiotics are being used to treat diseases, but also to prevent diseases from occurring and to increase the growth of animals (Mehndiratta, 2014, p.340). In recent years, the evidence of farmers using antibiotics for non traditional ways has sparked major controversy. In agriculture 90% of antibiotics are used for growth promoting and prophylactic agents with the other 10% being used to treat diseases (Khachatourians, 1998, p.2). To understand why this occurs, we first must understand the genetic basis for antibiotic resistance and the occurrence of antibiotic resistance in selected organisms. By farmers doing this an increase in the number and types of microorganisms resistant to drugs, has increased public health problems. Finally, management options for reducing antibiotics in the environment have to occur. If farmers continue to use antibiotics for non traditional uses, as humans we can be affected greatly not just by food supply, but by water runoff, the air, and even the soil. Also, more public health problems will occur. However, to completely understand the effects of antibiotic resistance, we need to understand the genetic component of how bacteria becomes resistant. From the many monuments and landmarks built in honor of those who fought in the civil war to the visitor center that is dedicated to preserving the historical relics of the city, one can immediately sense the historical significance of Fredericksburg. Fredericksburg played a major role during the Civil War due to its location between Washington, D.C. and Richmond, the two capitals of the Union and the Confederacy. Two important battles in the war, the Battle of Fredericksburg and the Second Battle of Fredericksburg, were fought there. Consequently, there are many places and landmarks dedicated to memorializing those who fought in the two major battles. Additionally, as the City of Fredericksburg was established by an act of the Virginia General Assembly in 1728, it contains more than 350 original 18th and 19th century buildings. The spider symbolizes wisdom and a hardworking nature. First, I think I am hard working because I always try to do my best at whatever I do, even if I am bad at it. Also, I work as hard as possible, and I never go for minimum. In my picture, the spider is working hard to make a web. Second, I think I am wise because I think hard about my decisions before finalizing them to avoid making irrational decisions. Section 4: My most prized possession is my coin collection for a few reasons. First, it has sentimental value. It contains coins from relatives that I rarely see or are deceased. I represented this sentimental value by making some of the coins hearts. Second, my collection is valuable. This is means it can be used in an emergency situation or just to show off. I represented this in my picture by putting a gold price tag on the binder that my coins are in. The gold color represents the wealth. Section 5: I chose a musical sword as my symbol of strength. I chose a sword because a good sword in the Medieval times could be used to show your worthiness as an opponent, and the point of a symbol of strength on your coat of arms was meant to show your worthiness as an opponent. I made the hilt red to show the militant purpose that the sword served. The sword is musical to show another one of my areas of strength. I did this by drawing viola/violin f holes to both sides of the blade. I also added a piano design to the sword s cross guard. These two instruments were chosen because they are the most recognizable instruments. They were also the instruments I first learned to play. • 22. The Bible On Gender Roles In The Bible The Bible on Gender Roles The Holy Bible is full of advice on every issue known to humanity. This advice varies in topics from society s functions to foreign policy and even gender roles. Today s western culture is very confused when it comes to gender roles, swinging over the last over 50 years from a male dominated society to a large portion of the feminist society fighting for female dominance and the disappearance of chivalry. Society is always searching for answers from science and philosophy but constantly fails to look in the right places. The Bible is the foundation of truth and it requires the ultimate amount of attention if any community plans to be successful for any length of time. The education of modern society on what the Bible says about gender roles is necessary to achieve mutual understanding of beliefs. The Bible is full of statements and teachings on the topic of gender. Unfortunately, these are often ignored in the home. For example, the different roles of mothers and fathers. The Bible claims that mothers are called to be involved in the teaching, nurturing, and mentorship of their children. According to Proverbs 13:24, fathers are also called to discipline their children, to teach them, and to mentor them. Parents roles are very similar according to the Bible with the caveat that fathers are called to be the disciplinarians and leaders of the household. Another example of the differences between genders according to the Bible is that of a Godly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This convention continued, and gradually by 1800 this usage was universally accepted in England. In France a conscious effort to make government rational was initiated. Following the lead of the Philosophers during the Age of Reason, and eager to replace the medieval traditions of the ancient regime, the French introduced sweeping changes to their government and society during the reign of Napoleon. • 31. The Classification Of Water Imagery Present Throughout... Shakespeare is renowned for his vividly descriptive, original, and pioneering use of imagery in many of his plays, but their effect on the audience s understanding of his plays is most obvious in the tragedies, particularly in Macbeth. Images in Shakespeare s works are used, according to Shakespeare critic G. Wilson Knight, to craft a play s atmosphere or the permeating tone or mood of a play (3). However, this attitude between images and atmosphere creates an environment where different definitions of images contribute to different interpretations of the subjective atmosphere that is born out of each individual reader s perception of the play. Because of this discrepancy, a strict definition of the term image should be observed. The term image will refer to physical objects or actions that are used by Shakespeare to clarify broad themes and character insights throughout the play. Specifically, the classification of water imagery present throughout Macbeth will be discussed broadly to include descriptions of rain, water, and the act of cleansing with water, whether or not they are real or imagined by the characters. Shakespeare uses all of these images to create an atmosphere that highlights Macbeth and Lady Macbeth s guilt and their subsequent desire to purify their tainted moralities. In addition to this, Macbeth will be interpreted through the lens of correcting chaos into order. This righting of natural order is brought forth by the rainstorms of the witches to ... Some argue that Lebron James is better, but he is not. To compare him to the men who played the center position is a waste of time. Obviously Shaquille O Neal, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar were more dominant. They were freaks of nature. What Kobe had that set him apart from everyone else was a skill set and mentality that is unmatched. Kobe is the best player first and foremost because he was a Los Angeles Laker for twenty years. Some may say that my bias towards Kobe as a Laker fan discredits my argument, but it does not. First, a list of his accomplishments. Kobe was drafted out of highschool at the age of seventeen, broke into the league by winning the Slam Dunk contest in his rookie season, and by age of twenty five he was a three time world champion. He was the youngest person to be named a NBAAll Star at the age of nineteen. The combination of his talents with the talents of Shaquille O Neal was the greatest one two punch of all time.
