Ethos Pathos Logos In Julius Caesar
In Julius Caesar by Shakespeare there are three persuasions, these persuasions are called logos, ethos,
and pathos. Logos, pathos, and ethos are three utensils used by Shakespeare in Caesar s funeral
presented by Mark Antony. Ethos is appeal based on the character of the speaker, Logos is appeal
based on logic or reason and Pathos is appeal based on emotion (Examples). Antony uses these three
utensils to turn the Roman crowd of citizens against the conspirators with an exciting persuasive
speech.
What does logos mean? Logos can be facts that are used to persuade someone (Ethos). Mark Antony
uses many facts throughout his speech. One of the key facts in his speech is; When that the poor have
cried, Caesar hath wept (Shakespeare). To use this is extremely intelligent by Mark Antony since most
of the people that he is trying to persuade aren t the richest people in Rome. Therefor, when he uses
poor as the type of people that Caesar cried for, the crowd thinks that it is wrong to brutally murder
someone who cared so much for them that they opened their eyes to Mark Antony and really took in
what he was saying by thinking that Caesar was the best thing for them (Shakespeare). ... Show more

When Antony says, My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar, and I must pause till it comes back to
me (Shakespeare) he wants the citizens to believe that Caesar was a noble and trustworthy man. This
makes the citizens question Brutus when he said, Censure me in your wisdom, and awake your senses
that you may be the better judge... not that I loved Caesar less, but I loved Rome more (Shakespeare) .
Brutus underestimated how powerful of a speech that Antony was able to deliver without breaking his

Neuromuscular Junctions
MUSCLE FIBERS AND EXERCISE:
Exercise leads to changes in muscle fiber size known as muscle hypertrophy, this increase in size is a
result of increasing muscle fiber diameter caused by exercise induced genes, such as peroxisome
proliferator activated receptor gamma coactivator 1α (PGC 1α). (Ruas, White, Rao, Kleiner, Brannan,
Harrison; 2012). As per Balice Gordon, Breedlove, Bernstein Lichtman (1990) the Neuromuscular
junction size is coupled, to a certain degree, to muscle fiber size. In contrast to this, a study conducted
on aged rats showed increased muscle fiber size in the soleus muscle with exercise, but there was no
increase in Neuromuscular junction size. Thus, some of the exercise based changes of Neuromuscular
junctions cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These alterations in morphologic remodeling in the aged NMJ further results in more dispersed AChR,
with greater spatial uncoupling between ACh vesicle clusters and receptor clusters. As studied by
Gonzalez, de Cabo, Studenski, Ferrucci (2014), the morphological changes together with
physiological alterations results in a remodeling of the motor unit and in a decline of the number of
motor neurons, particularly the type II muscle fiber (fast and glycolytic muscle fibers). These changes
lead to excitation contraction uncoupling, and a loss of communication between the nervous and
muscular system, causing a decline in skeletal muscle strength and muscle

How Does Gene Mature In A Separate Peace
A Separate Peace by John Knowles, introduces the story of Genes arduous struggle to adulthood
during a time when the U.S. is experiencing World War I, Gene constantly lashes at himself for his
incompetence to understand his adolescent feelings and excel like his honest and capable best friend,
Phineas or nicknamed Finny. Furthermore, Gene avoids confronting his fears in hope to maintain his
childlike happiness at school in conformity, but no doubt, I believe; growth comes only from strife and
struggle, and Gene protects his conformity through obedience to his friends and teachers, thus, Gene is
safe and can not grow. Presumably, Gene, unconsciously, thrusts Finny of a high tree in a fit of
jealousy of Finny s athletic talents, of which, Finny ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I mull over my project for days, finally, I went to scroll through reference images including the Philip
Exeter school and A Separate Peace posters, hoping to draw inspiration for my piece. Meanwhile, I
notice the covers revolves around Gene and Finny sitting and hanging out on the lone tree as best
friends lounging together, which was inaccurate, Gene and Finny never climbs the tree to converse.
Thus, I did not feel the artist made justice of the relevance of the scene. So, I flip through my cool
dark blue sketchbook to a silky and blank neonate page; crisp and full of possibility. Thereupon, I
drew two people as Gene since Leper remarks, I could see both of them... the sun was blazing... the
rays... shooting past them...like golden machine gun fire... them looked... as black as death standing
there...one of them... holding the trunk... sank... up and down... the other one sank and fell (174 176).
There is an uncertainty whether Gene is in front or behind Finny, however, Gene and the readers
understand Gene is in front, who pushes Finny off. I display Gene on the tree with lax Finny falling
down the branches, I made Finny falling like an elegant leaf floating down to the ground. Moreover,
Finny extends his athletic arms outwards to Gene like a child to his stuffed teddy bear. This scene is a
cause to Gene s bitter step to adulthood.

The Demise Of The Soviet Union
On the demise of the Soviet Union
Twenty five years ago, the Soviet Union collapsed taking by surprise therewith not only the
international community, but also its own leaders. What brought the superpower down? Its
authoritarian and corrupt political system, failure of the planned economy and stagnation, or consistent
celebration of national diversity throughout the whole history of the Soviet Union? If the question is
why the USSR disintegrated into 15 independent states, then the answer lies in the republican lines
which were drawn around ethnicity. In this essay, I argue the primacy of the ethnofederal system and
Soviet nation building policy to the fall of the last European empire . First, I will address the main
tenets of and motifs behind the Soviet approach to the nationality question and how it backfired on the
Communist Party and Russian democrats, who strived to preserve the union, seven decades later; then
I will discuss political and economic structural flaws of the Soviet system and give reasons for why
they could not solely account for the actual break up when examined from a broader perspective;
lastly I will analyze mechanisms, predetermined by ethnofederal system and Soviet ethno cultural
policies, that facilitated an avalanche of secessions from the USSR, and sum up my arguments.
Although definitely unintended and unpredicted, Bolsheviks signed their own death warrant when
they cemented in their constitution principles that cultivated ethnic

The Tale Of Fairy Tales Essay
Fairy tales have been told throughout time ever since gathering of people there s been demand for
telling stories to an audience. What started out as oral tales eventually evolved into written fairy tales.
People now began to write stories for the young children that would teach them important life lessons
that would be of major importance to them in the years to come. These lessons that were introduced
into fairytales played an important role in the development of their unshaped minds because these
tales would make it easier from to transition children into adolescence, and eventually into adults.
However, as these fairy tales evolved from being oral to written society also evolved alongside with it.
Society become became more advanced and sophisticated that the lessons that once had great meaning
in a way became obsolete. In many instances the lessons that were preached in the tales degraded the
roles of women by reducing to an object of marriage. It s important to remember that fairytales were
not intend to be seen as negative, in fact they originated as a means of good but the evolution of
society and ever so changing mindset of people has caused people to look at these fairytales in a new
scope. In doing so it was determined that fairy tales were no longer as good at teaching life lesson as
they once were. In order to make fairytales into what they once were there needs to another evolution
of fairy tales that will bring them up to speed to our current

Comparison of Mid Term Break, The Field Mouse, and On My First Sonne
The above poems are written by 3 different people and on reading them they seem to be about very
different things. But at heart, they are about death and the pain that appears afterwards. Seamus
Heaney s
Mid Term Break is a memory of his four year old brother s death.
Gillian Clarke s The Field Mouse is about death in a political conflict compared to a death in nature.
Finally On My First Sonne by
Ben Johnson is about the death of his son and the religious view of the situation.
Both Heaney and Johnson s poems are about the death of a close loved one and how it is dealt with
emotionally and in reality. On looking at the title of Heaney s poem, you almost ... Show more content

It also shows that his son was possibly the only bright point in his life and that he feels since he has
been taken away, he has almost no reason to live. After this event he also feels that you shouldn t get
to attached to something as he says As what he loves may never like too much. This obviously means
that whatever you love, don t get attached to it, as you will end up losing it.
Clarke, on the other hand, has a more general observation to death and tells it from the sort of view
most people might have on war or conflict. Like Heaney s Mid Term Break, when you see the title of
Clark s poem you assume that it will be a happy poem about a cute and cuddly mouse. This theory is
almost exactly the opposite of what the poem is actually about. You can see that the poem is about the
death and destruction in Bosnia War and compares it to the death and destruction that occurs while
harvesting.
This poem again is a memory like Mid Term Break, and at the end it shows her feeling and attitude
towards war and violence. You can tell that her feelings are negative since she writes the line my
neighbour turned stranger . This I think means that people you once were good friends with would
now become your enemy. So unlike the other 2 poems where it tells that death is a natural occurrence,
this poem tells that a person s main enemy is another person that could possibly be your best friend.
In Johnson s poem you can tell he is a very religious

Chickenpox, likewise, called varicella, is portrayed by bothersome red rankles that seem everywhere
throughout the body. An infection causes this condition. It regularly influences youngsters, and was so
basic it was viewed as a youth soul changing experience. It s exceptionally uncommon to have the
chickenpox contamination more than once. What s more, since the chickenpox antibody was presented
in the mid 1990s, cases have declined. An irritated rash is the most widely recognized manifestation of
chickenpox. The contamination should be in your body for around seven to 21 days before the rash
and different side effects create. You begin to be infectious to people around you up to 48 hours before
the skin rash begins to happen.

Chaucer s Lust
Love is one of the most beautiful things that an individual can experience. It leads people into doing
things that they would not do in their original senses. According to the dictionary, love is an intense
feeling or deep affection for someone. Even though love seems to be the best thing on earth, it can
also be the worst. When love is not not mutual, feelings can be hurt. Most people experience the
negative side of love one time or another in their lifetime. Even though society sees it as love, it can
sometimes be mistaken for lust. Someone s most dramatic time of love (or lust) is usually during their
teenage years when they are more more exposed to the things happening in this world. As hormones

Chaucer s three short poems all show people who believed then were disappointed by this feeling. The
girl in The Complaint of Venus thinks that In him is goodly kindness, wisdom, self control, far more
than any wit can devise; for good fortune has willed to advance him so far that he is the perfect
treasure of knighthood. Honor itself honors him for his nobility, and Nature withal has formed him so
well that I assure him I am his forever; for every creature praises his nobility (Chaucer 1). The man in
The Complaint of His Lady that Because I love her she slays me guiltless. Her I love best, and shall as
long as I live, better an hundred thousand times than myself, better than all the riches and created
beings of this world ( Chaucer 3). He did not have it in his mind that he would be hurt at the end. In
The Complaint Unto Pity, it is explained how having pity can lead a person to experiencing bitterness.
Pity, whom I have sought so long with sore heart and with gnawing pain that there was never in this
world a creature so woeful who did not die! To speak the truth, my purpose was to complain unto Pity
of the cruelty and tyranny of Love, who slays me for my faithfulness (Chaucer 1). One can then infer
that love always has a negative impact on someone s life. Even married people have to go through
downfalls in their relationship, whether it is cheating, neglect, or lack of

Essay Conscience in War
You re in an unstable bunker that goes to only the top of your shoulders. You re in Iraq, a land you
have studied yet still feel as unfamiliar with as a never ending desert. Your drill sergeant is screaming
at you to fire at your enemies. You freeze. This was not what you remember signing up for. You came
to this foreign land because you wanted to defend yourself and because you love America. When
aiming at stationary targets not firing back, you felt in control. You didn t really think about what you
are doing then. Now, though, when looking through your scope at the enemies , you cannot
differentiate them from you. Army sergeants have attempted to teach you to bypass the moral process
of killing, but you are unable to easily do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As former American sergeant Camilo Mejia said, There s no higher assertion of freedom than to
follow your conscience. In 2003, Mejia went on a leave of absence from Iraq and never returned
because of his loathing of the abuse prisoners of war. He came out of hiding to face the army and was
sentenced to one year in military prison. He proclaimed that he felt freer there than ever before. The
disrespect from others that Mejia encountered was worth the great pride he had for himself. When
making an imperative decision, you cannot please everyone. Sometimes you need to separate yourself
from others. What your parents or friends preach is not necessarily what you should live by. Staying
true to yourself is what is most important. At certain times, you have to delve deep to understand what
really matters. Being someone who abandons their own ideals and only lives out the dreams and
beliefs of others is not the right way to go through life. There s a chance you have a certain theory that
no one else expresses, but is actually apprehended by many. Conveying particular feelings can allow
others to feel comfortable in doing the same. It s easy to be misunderstood for following your
conscience, especially when your actions might seem contradictory. Conscientious objectors, for
example, are looked down by some people but are simply following their true beliefs. These are not
necessarily lifelong values because some people develop these after many years. One of

The PMBOK Guide (Project Management Institute, 2008) states that the statement of work (SOW)
should be written to be complete, clear and concise; it should include details of any services to be
required as well as specific content and format requirements for the procurement. (p. 326) While this
is meant to provide for the best vendor selection, at times my clients have not considered the SOW to
be as important as it is and not having a properly defined SOW has hindered selection of the most
effective vendor. Contracting officers can only go off what has been given to them and if the SOW is
not clear, or is missing, the vendor selected through the evaluation criteria may not meet actual
expectations.
The PMBOK Guide (Project Management Institute, 2008) defines procurement documents as those
documents which are used to gather proposals from potential bidders during the solicitation process.
These can be collected under request for information (RFI), invitation for bid (IB), request for
proposal (RFP), request for quotation (RFQ), invitation for negotiation, tender notice or invitation for
seller s initial response. (p. 326) In my business, we generally use RFPs that follow very strict
government guidance. For example, we have different conference RFP

Characteristics Of Good People
The first book I read in English class this year was The World According to Garp, a book known for
its forward thinking and provocative material. During a conversation in class, a question arose about
Garp, Jenny, and the other main characters: are they good people? Writers often portray main
characters as flawed, yet ultimately ethnically good human beings; however Garp and Co constantly
walk a moral line. My conclusion: no, they were not good people, but they weren t horrible people
either.
If I were to ask people on the street if they considered themselves to be a good person, I am almost
positive most people would say yes. Nevertheless, the fact remains that statistically people are
predominantly average human beings. Still, I do think it says something that people, in general, want
to be kind hearted. They want to help people in need, or stand up for animal rights. They speak out
against discrimination, or stick up for a friend. Sometimes, yes, people harbor selfish incentives;
nonetheless, a good deed is still a good deed.
Defining a good person is difficult because I don t want to put constraints around it. To be morally
good, to me at least, a person needs to try to be moral, by whatever standards fit his/her own
definition. He/she also needs to understand the personality traits that set him/her back, and in doing so,
he/she can make an effort to remedy them.
With such a vague definition, it is tough to ask specific questions. A potential question could be what

Factors That Affect The Food Intake Lose Weight
Obesity rates in America continue to raise since the 1980 s. Typically most Americans will start to see
their weight increase into adulthood and rapidly increase after age 40 (Roberts, 2005). Numerous diet
plans offer different suggestions on how best to address a person s food intake lose weight. One such
method is to use the Glycemic Index as a guide to making healthier food choices. I present an
executive summary of my findings based the Glycemic Index and its moderate evidence of
implications in the management obesity in metabolically healthy adults. As food is consumed and
passes through the gastrointestinal tract the body releases specific enzymes, peptides, and hormones to
breakdown the food (chyme), absorb the nutrients, and get the nutrients to tissues which need them.
This process occurs quickly, within 30 minutes of the chyme entering the small intestines. One
hormone of particular interest is insulin, which regulates the body s blood glucose levels. When blood
glucose levels are high, after consuming a meal, the pancreas will release insulin from its beta cells.
Insulin inhibits gluconeogenesis of the liver and stores glucose as energy reserves within tissues:
muscle, cardiac, liver, and adipose. The coordination of the body s organs and hormones to release
hormones and move glucose out of the blood are critical to preventing hypoglycemia or
hyperglycemia, both of which can be deadly (Gropper, 2013). The premise of the Glycemic Index is to
minimize the

The choice to leave the EU has pushed the UK into uncharted trading territory. The main alternative

Readiness Audit For Gulliver Academy
Readiness Audit for Gulliver Academy
A curriculum management audit is an examination of a schools curriculum including the way it is
written and delivered to students (Phi delta kappa international: Growing and connecting leaders in
education, n.d.). The auditing team will compare 5 standards to the schools curriculum (Phi delta
kappa international: Growing and connecting leaders in education, n.d.). A team of auditors will use
the 5 standards to evaluate the effectiveness of a curriculum. The auditing team is usually comprised
of administrators, lead teachers, and a curriculum specialist. The audit team will conduct site visits,
interviews, and use documents to determine if the curriculum was written correctly, taught properly,
and tested effectively (Phi delta kappa international: Growing and connecting leaders in education,

audit (B. Poston, personal communication, July 30, 2014). The school will then have to make
adjustments to the curriculum; this can include eliminating programs or practices completely,

information which in order to get a good grade, we, the students had to simply accept. Due to the fact
that the class heavily favored a specific way of thinking, and types of information which were viewed
as important it dampened the need to find novel ways of learning that suited individual students better,
and limited the need to critically think about the subject which would have deepened comprehension.
This system also gave students a disillusion that they understood the subject since they had a high
grade in the class. My personal disillusion broke after I took my first collage bio assignment. The
assignment was on a subject we covered in bio 2, and I vividly remember scoring well on that test, but

The United States of America ˆs war on drugs today is very similar to America ˆs
Prohibition of Alcohol in the 1920 ˆs. These two major issues of their time may not seem like they can
be logically compared, but statistics for usage and a correlating rise in crime for both eras show a
strong relationship. There is also a tendency for an outright defiance of the laws and law makers of the
United States government in both cases. Most people today think that the prohibition of the 1920 ˆs
and the current war on drugs have many contrasting points. The opposite is true. However, the points
that do contrast are more opinion based than fact oriented. The following paragraphs will attempt to
clearly and effectively show a comparison and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Four other cases of alcohol related robberies alone were reported that night. The increase in crime was
just one of the many problems created by Prohibition that was stupidly overlooked by the proponents
of the new law. There were many others. Gangs and the Mafia took over the streets resulting in bloody
feuds. They made massive amounts of money importing alcohol to the public. These organized crime
elements had a lot of police paid off to look the other way while they went about their business.
Smuggling liquor became a quick way to make money. Often, the liquor was homemade and very
impure. ¯Moonshine ˜ and other homemade alcohol resulted in 4,154 deaths in 1925 alone. By the mid
1920 ˆs, around forty million dollars worth of liquor had been illegally imported into the United States
and the undermanned police force was powerless to stop it. At this time, around ten percent of the
population was involved in some way in the illicit liquor business. In fact, some of the wealthiest and
most influential families in the U.S. today got the start of their fortunes during prohibition.
Speakeasies were opened everywhere throughout the country. These were secret or hidden bars behind
behind everyday business fronts. Passwords were often needed by patrons to get into the speakeasies.
Although police made a lot of busts and arrests for alcohol, most of the general population was not
effected by their actions. During the time span of

Summary Of A Handful Of Dust By Evelyn Waugh
Many authors have written argumentative articles pertaining to either Evelyn Waugh or Evelyn Waugh
s works, more specifically, A Handful of Dust. Reading these articles can not only broaden one s view
of Waugh, but one could also gain writing strategies on how to construct argumentative papers as well.
For instance, when looking Ghastly Good Taste : The Interior Decorator and the Ethics of Design in
Evelyn Waugh and Elizabeth Bowen by Mary Elizabeth Curtin, Through Comedy towards
Catholicism: A Reading of Evelyn Waugh s Early Novels by Michael Gorra, Was Anybody Hurt? :
The Ends of Satire in A Handful of Dust by Jonathan Greenberg, and The Waste Sad Time: Evelyn

Each of titles include a colon, which allows an author to convey particular phrases that can be located
in the first half of the title, and his or her argument located in the second half. For instance, the first
half of Greenberg s title is Was Anybody Hurt? . Here, Gorra writes a phrase that conveys the theme of
his article. Saying, Was Anybody Hurt? shows that this article was geared toward showing the
violence within Handful of Dust. Then, for the second half, Greenberg states the particular subject that
he intends to address within his article. At first glance, the phrase does not seem to connect with the
second half of the article; however, it immediately grabs the reader s attention. The reader will now
want to read further to understand why this particular phrase can be related to Greenberg s argument.
Similarly, Gorra, without the use of a phrase, simply states the subject matter of his paper. His title
immediately reveals much of his thesis, showing that in his article, he would be discussing Waugh s
progression from a comedic style of writing to a writing of assertive Catholicism . (202) In addition,
Gorra states this in his title: A Reading of Evelyn Waugh s Early Novels . This implies that Gorra
analyzes and compares Waugh s earlier novels to his older novels to show Waugh s writing style
progression. These titles allow for readers to get a quick glimpse of the overall purpose and focus of

Joyce Meyer How To Respond To Conflict Summary
How to Respond to Conflict Joyce Meyer once said, A positive attitude gives you power over your
circumstances instead of your circumstances having power over you . Throughout times people have
proven that positive thinking will help resolve a conflict. It is good to remain positive to eventually
receive a good outcome. When a conflict arises the best way to deal with it is to keep a positive
attitude. Many argue that a fight will quickly end a problem but problem but a good example that that
is false is the story of Black Ships before Troy.In black ships before Troy they use war to solve their
problems.people think that it won t really matter what attitude is presented in a problem. Many would

Soft-Soap Empire By Anna Mcclintock Analysis
This research paper would like to enlighten you with the idea that in the reading of Soft Soaping
Empire by Anna McClintock, brilliantly explains how commodities in capitalism arose and then was
linked immediately to the dominant social dialogue of its time, which is here an imperial point of
view. In order to accomplish her attempt, soap is an intelligent choice. As she mentions several times
throughout her essay, soap is a highly portable commodity relating to hygiene. It is a very personal
item, yet it was one of the first big advertisement campaign s main subject. Hygiene is one of the
important signs of western civilization; therefore, soap s relation to hygiene creates a natural bond
with colonized people. McClintock s essay is consisted of five sections with following subheadings,

In despite of 18th century, in 19th century, the commodity began to become a new form of a new
cultural system for representing social value , and with time, a mass consumption of the commodity

since the soap was a handy and inexpensive commodity that filled a gap in the domestic market, it
became a very popular item. In the advertisements of soap, majestic addresses are usually used. One
of the classical features of such advertisements is the black kids, who are getting washed, and another
one is absence of women. With those advertisements on the boxes of commodities, these discourses
could travel into the private lives of British people, and the commodity racism was much more

How Does Morgan Use Propaganda In Fast Fashion
Faux fur that slips through the fingers, eye
catching sequins, a crisp, clean coat that
exudes an air of professionalism around those who don it. Faces streaked with grime and sweat,
mountains of fabric scraps, and large industrial complexes shrouded in plumes of smoke and
pollution. By exploiting footage capturing such evocative imagery, Andrew Morgan illustrates in
their documentary film, The True Cost , that these stark contrasts are simply two sides of the
same coin for an industry that willingly cuts corners at its workers expense in order to snatch up
every last coin. Fast fashion, which is analogous to factory farming or intensive agriculture in the
food industry, is a method by which the production of clothing is executed on a massive scale

Many of the clips and montages that are used to prove Morgan s point paint
America s materialism and consumerism in particular as the root of the problem surrounding
social, economic and ecological upheaval of certain groups of people on a global scale. Because
of this, many of the scenes in the film that are especially powerful may raise controversy on
whether or not the information should be taken at face value or with a pinch of salt. One such
example couples quotes from Morgan s interview with Dr. Tim Kasser of Nox College with a
montage of advertisement snippets and clips of major shopping hubs lined with crowds of
consumers and large TV screens broadcasting even more advertisements and commercial. Even
stock footage from Nazi Germany and vintage cartoons of children doing the Nazi salute are
incorporated as well. The main message, as Kasser elucidates in the interview, is that

Criticism Of The Screwtape Letters
What a Tragedy! The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis is a satirical comedy about a demon,
Wormwood, who tries to influence the behavior of his patient. The letters are written to Wormwood by
his uncle, Screwtape. Wormwood s ultimate goal by influencing the patient s actions is to ensure that
he will end up in hell. Though Wormwood tries his best to excel in every task he is assigned, he
usually ends up failing. As a result of Wormwood s failures, Screwtape provides him with helpful
advice that comes with criticism. Although Lewis intended for the story to be comical, it should be
interpreted as a tragedy. In the beginning of chapter 5, Screwtape is infuriated with Wormwood.
Screwtape expected a detailed report from Wormwood on his progress with the patient and instead he
received a vague rhapsody because Wormwood was intoxicated. Wormwood is reminded that duty
comes before pleasure. This instance is similar to one that Henri Bergson uses in his theory of
comedy. Bergson suggest the idea of absentmindedness. He defines this as, when a certain comic
effect has its origin in a certain cause, the more natural we regard the cause to be, the more comic shall
we find the effect. (Bergson) Most adults would claim that they have had a drink of alcohol before.
Drinking alcohol is a natural human feature, that even Jesus partook in. However, when done in
excess it can cause a series of issues. One issue being that you are not able to properly complete your

because he loves them. The roles of women in this time period were firmly connected through the
Church. The Catholic Church was not only a governing system but also maintained an ideal of
morality. It was often said that respect for women is only found in a society where monogamy is the

A Research Study On Anti Smoking Campaign
INTRODUCTION:
Anti smoking campaigns aim to induce attitude changes that will cause a behavioural change of not
smoking, by employing techniques that target the central or peripheral route processing. The central
route prompts reasoning and analysis of arguments, persuading the audience through the message s
content. The peripheral route uses visual cues to appeal to emotions. Each route stimulates differing
depths of understanding about the consequences of smoking, and thus, varying levels of commitment
to not smoking. This investigation will focus on how effective these campaigns are in inducing higher
levels of understanding and commitment to not smoking. Subjective quantitative data will be collected

The deal marked a defining moment in the evolution of the European airline industry.

  • 2. Ethos Pathos Logos In Julius Caesar In Julius Caesar by Shakespeare there are three persuasions, these persuasions are called logos, ethos, and pathos. Logos, pathos, and ethos are three utensils used by Shakespeare in Caesar s funeral presented by Mark Antony. Ethos is appeal based on the character of the speaker, Logos is appeal based on logic or reason and Pathos is appeal based on emotion (Examples). Antony uses these three utensils to turn the Roman crowd of citizens against the conspirators with an exciting persuasive speech. What does logos mean? Logos can be facts that are used to persuade someone (Ethos). Mark Antony uses many facts throughout his speech. One of the key facts in his speech is; When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept (Shakespeare). To use this is extremely intelligent by Mark Antony since most of the people that he is trying to persuade aren t the richest people in Rome. Therefor, when he uses poor as the type of people that Caesar cried for, the crowd thinks that it is wrong to brutally murder someone who cared so much for them that they opened their eyes to Mark Antony and really took in what he was saying by thinking that Caesar was the best thing for them (Shakespeare). ... When Antony says, My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar, and I must pause till it comes back to me (Shakespeare) he wants the citizens to believe that Caesar was a noble and trustworthy man. • 3. Neuromuscular Junctions MUSCLE FIBERS AND EXERCISE: Exercise leads to changes in muscle fiber size known as muscle hypertrophy, this increase in size is a result of increasing muscle fiber diameter caused by exercise induced genes, such as peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma coactivator 1α (PGC 1α). (Ruas, White, Rao, Kleiner, Brannan, Harrison; 2012). As per Balice Gordon, Breedlove, Bernstein Lichtman (1990) the Neuromuscular junction size is coupled, to a certain degree, to muscle fiber size. In contrast to this, a study conducted on aged rats showed increased muscle fiber size in the soleus muscle with exercise, but there was no increase in Neuromuscular junction size. Thus, some of the exercise based changes of Neuromuscular junctions cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These alterations in morphologic remodeling in the aged NMJ further results in more dispersed AChR, with greater spatial uncoupling between ACh vesicle clusters and receptor clusters. As studied by Gonzalez, de Cabo, Studenski, Ferrucci (2014), the morphological changes together with physiological alterations results in a remodeling of the motor unit and in a decline of the number of motor neurons, particularly the type II muscle fiber (fast and glycolytic muscle fibers). These changes lead to excitation contraction uncoupling, and a loss of communication between the nervous and muscular system, causing a decline in skeletal muscle strength and muscle ... • 4. How Does Gene Mature In A Separate Peace A Separate Peace by John Knowles, introduces the story of Genes arduous struggle to adulthood during a time when the U.S. is experiencing World War I, Gene constantly lashes at himself for his incompetence to understand his adolescent feelings and excel like his honest and capable best friend, Phineas or nicknamed Finny. Furthermore, Gene avoids confronting his fears in hope to maintain his childlike happiness at school in conformity, but no doubt, I believe; growth comes only from strife and struggle, and Gene protects his conformity through obedience to his friends and teachers, thus, Gene is safe and can not grow. Presumably, Gene, unconsciously, thrusts Finny of a high tree in a fit of jealousy of Finny s athletic talents, of which, Finny ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I mull over my project for days, finally, I went to scroll through reference images including the Philip Exeter school and A Separate Peace posters, hoping to draw inspiration for my piece. Meanwhile, I notice the covers revolves around Gene and Finny sitting and hanging out on the lone tree as best friends lounging together, which was inaccurate, Gene and Finny never climbs the tree to converse. Thus, I did not feel the artist made justice of the relevance of the scene. So, I flip through my cool dark blue sketchbook to a silky and blank neonate page; crisp and full of possibility. Thereupon, I drew two people as Gene since Leper remarks, I could see both of them... the sun was blazing... the rays... shooting past them...like golden machine gun fire... them looked... as black as death standing there...one of them... holding the trunk... sank... up and down... the other one sank and fell (174 176). There is an uncertainty whether Gene is in front or behind Finny, however, Gene and the readers understand Gene is in front, who pushes Finny off. I display Gene on the tree with lax Finny falling down the branches, I made Finny falling like an elegant leaf floating down to the ground. Moreover, Finny extends his athletic arms outwards to Gene like a child to his stuffed teddy bear. This scene is a cause to Gene s bitter step to adulthood. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Demise Of The Soviet Union On the demise of the Soviet Union Twenty five years ago, the Soviet Union collapsed taking by surprise therewith not only the international community, but also its own leaders. What brought the superpower down? Its authoritarian and corrupt political system, failure of the planned economy and stagnation, or consistent celebration of national diversity throughout the whole history of the Soviet Union? If the question is why the USSR disintegrated into 15 independent states, then the answer lies in the republican lines which were drawn around ethnicity. In this essay, I argue the primacy of the ethnofederal system and Soviet nation building policy to the fall of the last European empire . First, I will address the main tenets of and motifs behind the Soviet approach to the nationality question and how it backfired on the Communist Party and Russian democrats, who strived to preserve the union, seven decades later; then I will discuss political and economic structural flaws of the Soviet system and give reasons for why they could not solely account for the actual break up when examined from a broader perspective; lastly I will analyze mechanisms, predetermined by ethnofederal system and Soviet ethno cultural policies, that facilitated an avalanche of secessions from the USSR, and sum up my arguments. Although definitely unintended and unpredicted, Bolsheviks signed their own death warrant when they cemented in their constitution principles that cultivated ethnic ... • 6. The Tale Of Fairy Tales Essay Fairy tales have been told throughout time ever since gathering of people there s been demand for telling stories to an audience. What started out as oral tales eventually evolved into written fairy tales. People now began to write stories for the young children that would teach them important life lessons that would be of major importance to them in the years to come. These lessons that were introduced into fairytales played an important role in the development of their unshaped minds because these tales would make it easier from to transition children into adolescence, and eventually into adults. However, as these fairy tales evolved from being oral to written society also evolved alongside with it. Society become became more advanced and sophisticated that the lessons that once had great meaning in a way became obsolete. In many instances the lessons that were preached in the tales degraded the roles of women by reducing to an object of marriage. It s important to remember that fairytales were not intend to be seen as negative, in fact they originated as a means of good but the evolution of society and ever so changing mindset of people has caused people to look at these fairytales in a new scope. In doing so it was determined that fairy tales were no longer as good at teaching life lesson as they once were. In order to make fairytales into what they once were there needs to another evolution of fairy tales that will bring them up to speed to our current ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Comparison of Mid-Term Break, The Field Mouse, and On My... Comparison of Mid Term Break, The Field Mouse, and On My First Sonne The above poems are written by 3 different people and on reading them they seem to be about very different things. But at heart, they are about death and the pain that appears afterwards. Seamus Heaney s Mid Term Break is a memory of his four year old brother s death. Gillian Clarke s The Field Mouse is about death in a political conflict compared to a death in nature. Finally On My First Sonne by Ben Johnson is about the death of his son and the religious view of the situation. Both Heaney and Johnson s poems are about the death of a close loved one and how it is dealt with emotionally and in reality. On looking at the title of Heaney s poem, you almost ... After this event he also feels that you shouldn t get to attached to something as he says As what he loves may never like too much. This obviously means that whatever you love, don t get attached to it, as you will end up losing it. Clarke, on the other hand, has a more general observation to death and tells it from the sort of view most people might have on war or conflict. Like Heaney s Mid Term Break, when you see the title of Clark s poem you assume that it will be a happy poem about a cute and cuddly mouse. This theory is almost exactly the opposite of what the poem is actually about. You can see that the poem is about the death and destruction in Bosnia War and compares it to the death and destruction that occurs while harvesting. This poem again is a memory like Mid Term Break, and at the end it shows her feeling and attitude towards war and violence. You can tell that her feelings are negative since she writes the line my neighbour turned stranger . This I think means that people you once were good friends with would now become your enemy. • 9. Chaucer s Lust Love is one of the most beautiful things that an individual can experience. It leads people into doing things that they would not do in their original senses. According to the dictionary, love is an intense feeling or deep affection for someone. Even though love seems to be the best thing on earth, it can also be the worst. When love is not not mutual, feelings can be hurt. Most people experience the negative side of love one time or another in their lifetime. Even though society sees it as love, it can sometimes be mistaken for lust. Someone s most dramatic time of love (or lust) is usually during their teenage years when they are more more exposed to the things happening in this world. The girl in The Complaint of Venus thinks that In him is goodly kindness, wisdom, self control, far more than any wit can devise; for good fortune has willed to advance him so far that he is the perfect treasure of knighthood. Honor itself honors him for his nobility, and Nature withal has formed him so well that I assure him I am his forever; for every creature praises his nobility (Chaucer 1). The man in The Complaint of His Lady that Because I love her she slays me guiltless. Her I love best, and shall as long as I live, better an hundred thousand times than myself, better than all the riches and created beings of this world ( Chaucer 3). He did not have it in his mind that he would be hurt at the end. In The Complaint Unto Pity, it is explained how having pity can lead a person to experiencing bitterness. Pity, whom I have sought so long with sore heart and with gnawing pain that there was never in this world a creature so woeful who did not die! To speak the truth, my purpose was to complain unto Pity of the cruelty and tyranny of Love, who slays me for my faithfulness (Chaucer 1). You re in Iraq, a land you have studied yet still feel as unfamiliar with as a never ending desert. Your drill sergeant is screaming at you to fire at your enemies. You freeze. This was not what you remember signing up for. You came to this foreign land because you wanted to defend yourself and because you love America. When aiming at stationary targets not firing back, you felt in control. You didn t really think about what you are doing then. As former American sergeant Camilo Mejia said, There s no higher assertion of freedom than to follow your conscience. In 2003, Mejia went on a leave of absence from Iraq and never returned because of his loathing of the abuse prisoners of war. He came out of hiding to face the army and was sentenced to one year in military prison. He proclaimed that he felt freer there than ever before. The disrespect from others that Mejia encountered was worth the great pride he had for himself. When making an imperative decision, you cannot please everyone. Sometimes you need to separate yourself from others. What your parents or friends preach is not necessarily what you should live by. Staying true to yourself is what is most important. At certain times, you have to delve deep to understand what really matters. Being someone who abandons their own ideals and only lives out the dreams and beliefs of others is not the right way to go through life. There s a chance you have a certain theory that no one else expresses, but is actually apprehended by many. Conveying particular feelings can allow others to feel comfortable in doing the same. It s easy to be misunderstood for following your conscience, especially when your actions might seem contradictory. Conscientious objectors, for example, are looked down by some people but are simply following their true beliefs. The PMBOK Guide (Project Management Institute, 2008) states that the statement of work (SOW) should be written to be complete, clear and concise; it should include details of any services to be required as well as specific content and format requirements for the procurement. (p. 326) While this is meant to provide for the best vendor selection, at times my clients have not considered the SOW to be as important as it is and not having a properly defined SOW has hindered selection of the most effective vendor. Contracting officers can only go off what has been given to them and if the SOW is not clear, or is missing, the vendor selected through the evaluation criteria may not meet actual expectations. The PMBOK Guide (Project Management Institute, 2008) defines procurement documents as those documents which are used to gather proposals from potential bidders during the solicitation process. These can be collected under request for information (RFI), invitation for bid (IB), request for proposal (RFP), request for quotation (RFQ), invitation for negotiation, tender notice or invitation for seller s initial response. • 13. Characteristics Of Good People The first book I read in English class this year was The World According to Garp, a book known for its forward thinking and provocative material. During a conversation in class, a question arose about Garp, Jenny, and the other main characters: are they good people? Writers often portray main characters as flawed, yet ultimately ethnically good human beings; however Garp and Co constantly walk a moral line. My conclusion: no, they were not good people, but they weren t horrible people either. If I were to ask people on the street if they considered themselves to be a good person, I am almost positive most people would say yes. Nevertheless, the fact remains that statistically people are predominantly average human beings. Still, I do think it says something that people, in general, want to be kind hearted. They want to help people in need, or stand up for animal rights. They speak out against discrimination, or stick up for a friend. Sometimes, yes, people harbor selfish incentives; nonetheless, a good deed is still a good deed. Defining a good person is difficult because I don t want to put constraints around it. To be morally good, to me at least, a person needs to try to be moral, by whatever standards fit his/her own definition. He/she also needs to understand the personality traits that set him/her back, and in doing so, he/she can make an effort to remedy them. With such a vague definition, it is tough to ask specific questions. A potential question could be what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Factors That Affect The Food Intake Lose Weight Obesity rates in America continue to raise since the 1980 s. Typically most Americans will start to see their weight increase into adulthood and rapidly increase after age 40 (Roberts, 2005). Numerous diet plans offer different suggestions on how best to address a person s food intake lose weight. One such method is to use the Glycemic Index as a guide to making healthier food choices. I present an executive summary of my findings based the Glycemic Index and its moderate evidence of implications in the management obesity in metabolically healthy adults. As food is consumed and passes through the gastrointestinal tract the body releases specific enzymes, peptides, and hormones to breakdown the food (chyme), absorb the nutrients, and get the nutrients to tissues which need them. This process occurs quickly, within 30 minutes of the chyme entering the small intestines. One hormone of particular interest is insulin, which regulates the body s blood glucose levels. When blood glucose levels are high, after consuming a meal, the pancreas will release insulin from its beta cells. Insulin inhibits gluconeogenesis of the liver and stores glucose as energy reserves within tissues: muscle, cardiac, liver, and adipose.
