Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots
Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots During the sixteenth century there where many conflicts which
occurred between Catholics and Protestants. The Kings and Queens of England especially kept on
changing between both religions. This made it very difficult for the people of England to choose a
religion because laws kept on getting changed in regard to practicing religion. When Elizabeth I
became Queen she became the new defender of the faith, thus making Protestantism the official
religion. One of the harshest parts of Elizabeth s reign was the whole Mary, Queen of Scots, ordeal.
Mary was Elizabeth s cousin and next in line to the throne. Of course Mary was Catholic and that is
what made the whole issue an issue. This paper will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She became the darling of the Northern Catholics who hoped to remove that upstart commoner
William Cecil and his Protestant Queen, replacing them with Mary. It seems to have been purely a
political arrangement and it failed almost before it began, but the northern earls rose in revolt and died
for the idea. 19 Parliament and the country at large clamored for the execution of the two principles.
Norfolk was exacuted as a traitor and Mary s life was saved only by Elizabeth who refused to agree to
Parliament s demands for her death. 20 Mary never learned from her past experience and continued to
conspire against Elizabeth. Finally in 1586 letters were intercepted from Mary which conclusively
proved her involvement in a plot organized by Anthony Babington to murder Elizabeth and a
commission was set up to examine and try Mary at Fotheringhay Castle in Northamptonshire. 21 The
commission, consisting of leading peers, councilors and judges, found Mary guilty on two charges of
treason, and in November 1586 both Houses of Parliament unanimously petitioned Elizabeth to
proceed to the just sentence of execution. 22 For two months Elizabeth agonized over the decision.
She hated the thought of killing a relative as well she knew that Mary s death would arouse fierce
resentment throughout Catholic Europe and would likely spark retaliation. 23 After endless thought
and stalling, Elizabeth finally gave

Finding Decision Aids For Mode Of Delivery Among Women Essay
Introduction The authors and contributors of the study are all from different universities holding
similar positions including: A. Montgomery, a senior lecturer in primary care research; C. Emmett, the
trail coordinator; T. Fahey, a professor of general practice; and C. Jones, held the research assistant
position. Along with the above; I. Rickettes, professor of assistive systems and health computing; R.
Patel, is a specialist registrar in obstetrics and gynecology; T. Peters, professor of primary care health
services research; and lastly D. Murphy, a professor of obstetrics and representing on behalf of the
Decision Aids for Mode of Next Delivery (DIAMOND) study group (Montgomery, et al. 2007). The
authors clearly stated within the title the study is a randomized controlled trial and is both a qualitative
and qualitative study. The purpose of the study was to find decision aids for mode of delivery among
women that have previously had a caesarean section; which as well was stated in the research title
(Montgomery, et al. 2007). The abstract was very informative and effective for explaining and giving
an overview of the entire study, explaining design, objectives, setting, participants, interventions,
measures, and results. The study was funded by the BUPA Foundation and the AAM was partially
supported by a postdoctoral fellowship from the UK Department of Health National Coordinating
Centre for Research Capacity Development (Montgomery, et al. 2007). There were no

Comparing Of Mice And Men And What s Eating Gilbert Grape
What s Eating Gilbert Grape Dir. Lasse Hallstrom and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck are two
very similar pieces of storytelling about caring for the misfortunate. In Of Mice and Men George cares
for his mentally challenged friend Lennie, and in, What s Eating Gilbert Grape, Gilbert takes care of
his mentally disabled brother Arnie. Both George and Gilbert care more for the well being and defence
of their loved one, than they do for their own well being in most cases. In the end of What s Eating
Gilbert Grape, Gilbert s mother dies; in a dramatic and tangible gesture to rid himself of his past,
Gilbert burns their house down. In a symbolic similarity, at the end of Of Mice and Men George kills
Lennie in an effort to release him of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
George kills Lennie not because he doesn t like Lennie but because he s tired of dealing with him, and
he wants to be able to start over and have a good life, and he knows he can t if Lennie is around.
George is always saying how he wants him and Lennie to live on a farm but is always doubting if
Lennie can stay on track, and he is always wondering if Lennie is gonna mess up their chances.
Comparably Gilbert s decision to burn down his house is his way of proclaiming his starting over, and
symbolically saying that nothing good ever came of that house and that nothing ever would. Gilbert is
talking to Becky and is saying how much he hates living in his house and that he hates how lazy and
fat his mom is. This is more obvious for Gilbert because throughout the whole movie he is completely
selfless and only cares about taking care of his family. Both of their decisions were very important to
show that they were finally taking control of their lives, and that they decided to finally do something
for themselves. Unfortunately in order to do this both characters looked to destructive and violent
ways of freeing themselves. Perhaps these burdens were so great that they had to take destructive
measures to alleviate themselves from them, or perhaps they simply never learned another away and
had to take extreme measure to enact any change in their

Hatshepsut s Impact On The Pharaohs Of Egypt
When we think of the great pharaohs of Egypt, we often think of King Tut and Ramses II, and when
we think of great female pharaohs, we think of Cleopatra. However, one of Egypt s most prominent
pharaohs is none of the above. Arguably one of the most underrated pharaohs in terms of their overall
impact on Egypt is Hatshepsut. Born to King Thutmose I by the principal wife and queen, Hatshepsut
married her half brother Thutmose II at age 12. After the death of her husband, her stepson and next in
line to the throne, Thutmose III, was too young to take the throne, so Hatshepsut took over the reign of
Egypt. Hatshepsut was the first female pharaoh with full power over Egypt and was also the longest
reigning female pharaoh. Hatshepsut is an important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She proved herself to be a warrior by travelling to new lands, and had accomplished many deeds
during her trip to Punt.
The expedition was conducted to obtain myrrh and frankincense trees: thirty one trees provided resin
and incense needed for temple ceremonies and everyday use (e.g. mummification, medicinal aids and
perfumed oils), and to establish a trade route: Punt was rich in exotic products (ivory used for making
amulets, inlays for furniture and headrests; woods such as ebony for temples and tomb furniture; live
animals such as the sacred baboon, monkeys and apes; animal skins; and metals such as gold used for
making electrum and jewellery).
Hatshepsut is an important figure in Egyptian society based on her determination as a pharaoh during
her expeditions to Punt by excluding the middleman, bringing goods back to Egypt, and establishing a
trade route. She showed determination through her successful trading expeditions, her innovation in
building monuments, and her tenacity in proving herself as a powerful female

How Far Has the Importance of Nelson Mandela in the Ending...
How far has the importance of Nelson Mandela in the ending of apartheid been exaggerated? It can be
argued that the importance of Nelson Mandela in the ending of apartheid has been greatly
exaggerated. Apartheid ended due to a combination of long term and short term events. The ANC
represented the main opposition of apartheid while protests and rebellions caught the attention of the
world, international sanctions put pressure on the south African government and something had to be
done before their economy completely fell apart. De Klerk shocked the country when he took the first
step towards abolishing apartheid although, the spark of light and face of rebellion, Mandela, provided
the inspiration to make the end of apartheid possible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was considerable labour unrest and strikes were common. There were also occasional bomb
attacks. On the 21st march, in Langa, Cape town. a mass march to langa police station was organised.
The plan was to surrender themselves guilty of not carrying their passes, and as there were so many of
them the police could not arrest them all. At this time an identical plan was created in sharpville and
turned into what would be known as the sharpville massacre. Due to the event in sharpville the march
was called off and a ban was placed on gatherings. However later that day protestors gathered again.
The police ordered the protesters to disperse and baton charged them and the protestors retaliated with
stones. Langa was very tense that night as angry protestors barricaded the streets and looted policemen
s homes. The death toll by the end of the day in Langa was three, shot and killed by white policemen.
The sharpville massacre and the langa shootings had a great impact on apartheid, the damage done
was costly and the government had become ungovernable. Violence caused the protests to be a major
factor in the end of apartheid because it was so costly. The South African government was already in
bad shape and could not deal with the ungovernable public. Also the violence caught the attention of
international relations, and frankly, they were appalled. Another factor believed to be more

Farmer s Of Cattle Farm
Farmer E raises only 20 head of cattle making them the smallest farmer interviewed and the least
amount of time raising beef at only eight years. The cattle are also mostly grass fed like the other
farmers but they receive less than market price because of the breed of cattle raised not being in high
demand at market. Farmers usually receive approximately $1.50 per pound but he gets about $1 per
pound instead. When asked if they would ever think to process and sell their meat they mentioned
they had previously considered it but saw other locals and fail. This dissuaded the farmer from trying
to sell his own beef although he has taken beef management classes to do so. The risk was too high for
Farmer E once seeing the failure and decided to stay with calf cow farming to not have to add new
costs with what they thought would be little return.
Farmer F Farmer F was the last calf cow farmer interviewed who raises approximately 110 head of
cattle. This farmer expects only about 80 85 cents per pound for cow and $1.20 per calf. The cattle
raised on this farm are mostly grass fed that is supplemented with grain when needed. The farmer has
been raising cattle since they were a kid 20 30 years at the farm. This farmer sells many vegetables at

Gram Positive Bacteria And Gram Negative Bacteria
Bacteria can be divided into two types of species, gram positive bacteria and gram negative bacteria.
To determine whether a certain type of bacteria was classified tests were conducted by Hans Christian
Gram; who discovered the differences within the cell walls of the bacteria. Gram positive bacteria
have a thick wall which consists of the protein peptidoglycan. This is opposite to gram negative
bacteria which has a thin cell wall, which fold over each other (Wells, 2017). They retain a much
thinner peptidoglycan wall between two membranes. The membrane surrounding the cytoplasm and
the outer membrane. (Wikipedia, 2017). Both gram positive and gram negative bacteria both stain,
gram positive retains violet dye. Gram positive bacteria don t retain the dye and turn red or pink
(Diffen, 2017). Due the difference in cell wall thickness gram negative bacteria is harder to inhibit,
compared to gram positive bacteria.
Two types of bacteria will be tested throughout this investigation, Serratia Marcescens and
Staphylococcus Epidermidis. Serratia Marcescens are gram negative bacteria, which can be found on
any surface. They mainly occur in water, soil, or and within animals located in their digestive tract
(Antonette B Climaco, 2017 ). They are stained red which can often be mistaken with blood drops.
This bacteria can affect the macrophages within the human body, this affects the immune system and
the destruction of foreign pathogenic cells within the body. Staphylococcus

How Steinbeck Uses Two of His Characters to Explore the Role of Power in Of Mice and Men by
John Steinbeck The two characters that I have chosen to examine for exploring the role of power in
the novel are Slim and Curley. Slim is a highly skilled mule driver and the acknowledged prince of the
ranch. Slim is both respected and admired by all of the men he works with. In the book it says that
Slim s opinion in law and that Slim don t need to wear no high heeled boots to say that he is superior
over the others because that s how the men see him anyway. He is seen as the leader in the bunkhouse
because his word is final, for example, Slim has the last word in the situation of whether to shoot ...

Slim has natural power; his authority is gained through respect of the other men. They come to him
voluntarily to ask his advice and to talk to him. Slim s height is also used to reflect his status and
shows us that even though he could have physical power over the men, he chooses not to, instead he
respects them. Slim is seen as the leader by the men even though it seems that he is equal to them. The
fact that Slim is very modest seems to make him even more powerful. The relationship between Slim
and the men is symbiotic because he gives them as much respect as they give to him. Carlson stepped
back to let Slim precede him. This shows that the men are willing to let Slim go before them, because
of the relationship that they have, and it appears to happen in a natural way. There is a big difference
in the way that Slim and Curley use their power. Slim does not abuse the power he has, unlike Curley.
Slim if fairly equal to the other men as he wears the same type of clothes, works hard and sleeps in the
bunkhouse along with them. I think that this makes the men respect him more as he is one of them and
does not see himself as superior to them. Curley wears boots to make himself stand out and does not
work like the others do. He also sleeps in the house away from the other men and this makes him think
that he is superior over the other men.

Idealism And Realism In International Relations
In the fields of International Relations, there are two important theories, idealism and realism. They
are two contrasting and competing approaches in study of international relations. Idealism is what
could be , planning the world as what they wish for it to become. Realism is what actually is , seeing
the world as it actually is. People may ask, which one is more preferable? Though it s a decision of
one s own perception that will never come to a correct answer, I argue that realism is more preferential
because peace that idealists promote isn t applicable for everything in this complicated world, making
idealism too normative.
Idealism in general, highlights peace as a central theme. The main point of idealism is improving the
society by eliminating war, violence, hunger, inequality and use of force. Therefore, idealists argue
that war should be abolished and wish to reform the community through an emphasis eliminating all
bad behaviours. They believe doing what s right is more preferred than doing what s in national
interest. They also emphasize that the society will become better when people are working for
common goals in the nation. Idealism have a strong sense of removing the evil . Idealists are
optimistic about human nature, and wish for the international relations cycle to be peaceful and free
from conflict. Some famous idealist thinkers are, John Stuart Mill, Immanuel Kant, and Woodrow
Wilson. A suitable example would Woodrow Wilson and the League of

Final Tax Return
When a person dies, filing final tax returns becomes mandatory for the executor of the estate. The
executor must file a final federal income tax return and a final state income tax return (if required)
reporting all income earned by the decedent in the final year of life up until the day of death.
Furthermore, even if the executor hires a tax professional to file the final tax returns, the executor
must know how to prepare the information needed by the tax professional. Otherwise, the tax
professional will charge the estate a substantial amount to handle the preparation as well as the filing
of the final tax returns.
How to Prepare the Final Tax Returns
As explained in the article Track the Estate Income, income earned by the decedent in the final year of
life up until the day of death requires reporting on the final tax returns. In addition, since most 1099 s
will report income earned for the entire year, the executor needs to be aware that the 1099 s need

Roosevelt And Wilson Involvement For Progressivism
Progressives shared a lot of similar goals and objectives. They especially came in whenever the
democratic reforms failed. For instance, where an accepted appeal can be voted into law, referendum
which involved the review of the proposed laws or direct election of senators instead of using the
normal method of legislation. Progressives always recorded success in pushing of reforms into laws.
The explanation for this could be attributed to the high level of education that the progressives hard,
consequently being more influential. The initiatives that they pushed became triumphant than the
legislative docket (Piott, 2006; Smith, 2012). This paper seek to explore the programs that Roosevelt
and Wilson initiated in a bid to advocate for progressivism.
Progressivism was powerfully present after Theodore Roosevelt took on power from McKinley,
following his assassination in 1901. Roosevelt became the first president to have a linking to the
aspect progressivism. He was dubbed a man as a champion of cautious, moderate change. His intent
was not to transform the legislation of government, but to create a fair approach in dealing with
workers and businessmen. He was marked in history to be the first head of state to have ever arbitrated
a labor dispute without defending the employers (Smith, 2012).

A History of John Wilkes Booth
The name of John Wilkes Booth conjures up a picture of America s most infamous assassin, the killer
of perhaps the greatest president of the United States. However, J. Wilkes Booth (as he was known
professionally) led a very prominent life as an actor in the years preceding the assassination of
Abraham Lincoln. This period of his life is often forgotten or overlooked.
The Booth family name in the nineteenth century was strongly identified with the American theater
scene; there was no greater name among American actors at this time. Junius Brutus Booth, Sr. came
to the United States from England in 1821 and established the Booth name upon the American stage.

He became more confident as an actor and was popular with his audiences. At the same time Booth
became more enamored with the southern way of life, which helped to refine his southern political
views. Booth also attended many important social functions in Richmond .
Booth briefly left the Richmond Theatre Company in 1859. He joined the Richmond Grays, gaining
his only official military experience. He enlisted on November 20, 1859 with the sole intention of
witnessing the December hanging of the fiery abolitionist John Brown in Charles Town, Virginia.
Soon after witnessing Brown s hanging, Booth left for Richmond where he was discharged.
During the Civil War, Booth said he promised his mother that he would not join the Confederate army.
Booth did however, undertake some action to support the Confederacy. According to some reports,
Booth was actively engaged in smuggling medical supplies to Confederate forces in 1864.
Many people who came in contact with Booth mentioned the magnetism and power of his eyes. Sir
Charles Wyndham, a fine comedian who witnessed the acting exploits of both Booth and his brother

The Impacts of the Scottish Parliament and Visit Scotland...
Both the Scottish Parliament and Visit Scotland show two different images of modern Scotland. The
parliament appeals to the Scottish people and try to improve the Scottish economy. Visit Scotland
directed at tourists and is rather stereotypical. They do not convey a true image of modern Scotland.
They are trying to appeal to two different audiences but they are making mistakes and this is causing
Scotland to suffer. Throughout this essay is going to contemplate and examine how both the Scottish
Parliament and Visit Scotland have a direct and significant impact on how the image of modern day
Scotland is portrayed.
Visit Scotland and the tourist industry convey images of Scotland which show that people are always
happy. These images are aimed at tourists in order to bring people to Scotland. There is a sense of
community and belonging however are they only showing rural Scotland. The images of modern
Scotland are not shown. This means that their images only show the countryside. They do not show
the night life of Scotland and also what the cities are like. This may lead many people into believing
that everyone in Scotland own sheep and live in cottages and that they are miles away from shops.
This is very stereotypical. Visit Scotland is not the only industry that does this, the film industry does
this too. For example; Made of Honor is very modern film released in 2008. However, when the film
moves to Scotland it shows the family living in a castle in the middle of

The Chenogne Massacre
The Battle of the Bulge started with a surprise on December 16th when the German Army launched
one of the largest Artillery bombardments the world has ever seen. Part of the Germans plan was to
infiltrate the United States forces with Germans Soldiers with near perfect English in order to disrupt
and cause confusions during the initial attacks. The German Soldiers were unable to maintain their
disguise and were later executed. The initial surprise attack seemed at first like forward progress,
however the United States 2nd and 99th Divisions maintain a strong hold at Elsenberg and Mamedy.
Unfortunately for the American Soldiers December 16th also brought on another surprise, bad weather
set in at the Ardennes region, limiting any air support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Chenogne Massacre was a retaliation for the Malmedy Massacre, where over sixty German
prisoners near the Belgian Village of Chenogne were shot. The events on January 1st 1945 during the
Chenogne Massacre were covered up throughout time, and the perpetrators were punished. As far as
today, historians believe that the reason for this massacre was because of senior commanders giving
verbal orders to kill all prisoners. John Fague of B Company, 21st Infantry Battalion, an eyewitness
had stated Some of the boys had some prisoners line up. I knew they were going to shoot them, and I
hated this business. They marched the prisoners back up the hill to murder them with the rest of the
prisoners we had secured that morning.... As we were going up the hill out of town, I know some of
our boys were lining up German prisoners in the fields on both sides of the road. There must have
been 25 or 30 German boys in each group. Machine guns were being set up. These boys were to be
machine gunned and murdered. We were committing the same crimes we were now accusing the Japs
and Germans of doing.... Going back down the road into town I looked into the fields where the
German boys had been shot. Dark lifeless forms lay in the snow. As we can imagine, with the bonds
molded between brothers, tempers were easily flared amongst the

Sociocultural Theory Of Piaget
As a nursing student, I am looking to start a career in pediatric nursing or work in the neonatal
intensive care unit (NICU), where I am working with premature babies. Working with children can be
challenging, not only do I need to care for their treatment as well as psychical well being, I also need
to care for their mental development. That is where developmental psychology comes into place, two
most influenced developmental theory Piagetian theory Sociocultural theory, will help me understand
more about how children develop so that I can care for them accordingly.
Piaget s fundamental assumption is on how children can actively shape their own development, they
are mentally active since their birth. Piaget hypothesized four stages of development, they are
sensorimotor stage; preoperational stage; concrete stage and formal operational stage. An
understanding of this developmental theory can be beneficial to nurses in assessing which stage of
development the child has reached, to plan the correct level of stimulation. Since in the hospital
setting, the child s resources are limited. We need more stimulation for the child s development. In a
hospital, children are all placed in the same floor with similar surroundings disregard they are in
different developmental stages. For example, children in the preoperational stage need more verbal
stimulation since they are learning to express their experience through language mental imagery and
symbiotic thoughts; however, children

• Describe The Three Broad Categories Within The DSM-2
The most well known and widely used diagnostic classification system is the DSM V (Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). In the early 1900, steps were taken to follow a system similar
to the DSM that is currently used today. The DSM I was first published in 1952 by the American
Psychiatric Association, with the DSM II being released in 1968 as an amendment of the original
(Pomerantz, 2014). While the earlier editions of the DSM were similar to each other, they were very
different from the other editions later released (Lilienfeld Landfield, 2008). There were three very
broad categories in the earlier editions: neuroses which would include mood disorders such as major
depression and anxiety disorders; psychoses which would include disorders like schizophrenia; and
character disorders which are known today as personality disorders (Blashfield, Flanagan, Raley,
2010). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The language used in the definitions reflect the psychoanalytic approach to how professionals viewed
mental illness at the time, due to psychoanalysis being the main view of the psychiatrics (Pomerantz,
2014). A further difference between the editions is the way the symptoms were described: instead of
being a list of specific symptoms for each disorder, it was a simple paragraph giving a vague
description of the disorder leading to limited generalisability for the practising professionals (Woo

Figurative Language And Imagery InJuggler, By Richard Wilbur
The poem Juggler describes how the tricks the juggler acts out for the crowd amaze and intrigue them.
In the poem Juggler by Richard Wilbur, the author uses imagery, figurative language and tone to
describe the juggler as someone who brings happiness and fun to others.
The use of imagery, figurative language, and tone are used to describe the juggler and reveal the
speaker s own views about the world.
Throughout the poem the author uses imagery to describe the juggler s appearance and the tricks he is
accomplishing in his show. For example, Wilbur states, it takes a sky blue juggler with five red
balls...to shake our gravity up. (lines 6 7). The author s description of the juggler as someone who can
shake our gravity up (line 7) shows that the juggler is someone who has a tremendous impact on the
audience and the speaker. This is true since the crowd is full of serious people and the juggler evokes
happiness and astonishment from the audience. Moreover, by saying this the audience is able to get an
insight into the life of the speaker; we are able to see that not a lot of things happen in the speaker s
life that cause or bring up excitement and happiness. Additionally, Wilbur shows the reader how the
juggler is performing, the author says, Oh, on his toe the table is turning, the broom s Balancing up on
his nose, and the plate whirls. On the tip of the broom! (lines 9 21). We can see that as the juggler is
performing his great trick the crowd is excited and amazed at what he is accomplishing through his
performance when the author says, Damn, what a show, we cry... (line 21). Having the crowd cheer at
the juggler as he completes his trick of the balancing act showed that the juggler was able to bring
happiness and amazement with the many tricks he was able to perform for the crowd.
As the poem progresses, we can see how the juggler manipulates the five red balls he is using to move
around his body. In the poem, Wilbur uses figurative language like personification to show how the
balls move by the tricks the juggler does. For example, Wilbur says, The balls roll around, wheel on
his wheeling hand, learning the ways of lightness, alter to spheres, grazing his finger ends, cling to
their course

The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells Essays
The Invisible Man by H. G. Wells gives an account of a man s descent into madness as the result of
his scientific feat, invisibility. Griffin, the invisible man, first appears as a mysterious stranger,
bandaged and seeking shelter and recluse but progressively transforms into a lawless individual with a
proposition to initiate a reign of terror. The change in Griffin s character occurs due to his invisibility
and the power it provides because there is no one, on this view, who is iron willed enough to maintain
his morality and find the strength of purpose to keep his hands off what does not belong to him, when
he is able to take whatever he wants from the market stalls without fear of being discovered, to enter

The invisible man begins to feel limitless and superior to average man, he feels that an invisible man
is a man of power (Wells). Being invisible and the subsequent notion of invincibility causes the
invisible man to act as he pleases as his inhibitions disappear as the fear of being reprimanded is
removed. The absence of consequences strips away the good in Griffin s nature and fosters his
madness as he starts stealing from the markets and begins his spree of breaking into houses.
However, the invisibility that Griffin viewed as power ultimately is a poison as the invisible man must
sacrifice greatly for his for his power. The invisible man schemes grand dreams that can be realized
through his invisibility but discovers that no doubt invisibility made it possible to get them, but it
made it impossible to enjoy them when they are got (Wells 121). Because of his invisibility, the
invisible man finds himself ostracized, in a state of danger, and no longer able to enjoy everyday
customs like eating lunch at a restaurant. Griffin finds himself even unable to celebrate his discovery
with others with fear of that they might steal credit for his feat or that the exposure might cause a
rejection. Due to his invisible state, his grandest ambitions are trivialized and frustrated by the very
discovery that spurred those ambitions (Beiderwell). The anger, madness, and mania that envelop the

capable of leaving all satisfied. In the book, Scorpia Rising, author Anthony Horowitz has created a
savory delicacy that is quite unique. Through his literature, Horowitz has time and time again proven
himself to be one of the best authors to reside in the United Kingdom, and this book is no exception.
As the ninth installment in the Alex Rider series, the book was created thirteen years after the original,

The author s representation of these subjects is quite accurate. In the story, the MI6 is portrayed as an
organization that is very clever and is thrifty, not to mention omnipresent within the confines of the
world. In real life, this is what can be expected of an organization with a reputation that precedes it
such as the British Secret Service. The MI6 does not intervene in many matters, but those that it does
intervene in, it manages to extinguish all turmoil and leave behind a exuberant landscape. In
November 2011, the MI6 got involved with a Benghazi terrorist plot, and managed to foil it to the
point where there is no information to this day. It is important to note that very little data exists on the
MI6. What exists, however, is very much represented successfully by Anthony Horowitz in this
mystery. The book also represents the Egyptian nation very well. Egypt as a country is quite rich, and
Alex s school in Egypt is no exception. He meets people from all walks of life, including other British,
Americans, Russians, Chinese and African students. These people are paramount to the plot, as they
are the driving force behind Razim s attack in Egypt.Without the accurate portrayals of these
seemingly insignificant characters, the plot would fail to advance due to the lack of motivation for the
antagonist. If these people were not portrayed correctly, then the whole plot would be devastated.
Therefore, the author successfully represents all subject matter in this book, Scorpia

There are countless issues that pose danger to the environmental health of the Earth, but one of the
most often overlooked problems is food waste. Food waste contributes to droughts as well as other
serious economic and climate ramifications. However, there are many things that can be done to
resolve this pressing issue.
The issue of food waste is one that many people might not consider to be serious, but it is critical to
the environment that a solution is devised. Fortunately, there are many simple things that people all
over the world can do to keep the Earth healthy. First, if farmers and agricultural employees would

An article published by NPR quotes Craig Hansen, a big voice in the food waste crisis. The article
states; For instance, he says, the moisture in food lost immediately post harvest or during open storage
will likely evaporate. In other words, that water ends up back in the atmosphere. But that doesn t mean
it ll return to the place from whence it came. Now that food is crisscrossing the globe, the water
stressed regions that produce fruits and vegetables aren t necessarily going to get their water back.
This highlights the danger in irresponsible food waste; there will be serious consequences to the
already limited freshwater supply on Earth if the problem is not resolved in a timely fashion.
It isn t just regular citizens that are negatively affecting the Earth s environmental health, restaurants
and other corporations have a dramatic impact on the food waste crisis. Generally speaking, food
waste is a bigger issue in developed countries, although developing countries with harsh weather and
climates also contribute to the issue. Eliza Barclay writes; In rich countries, by contrast, most food
waste happens further along the food distribution chain in homes and restaurants, for example.
Restaurants and the citizens who eat at them also have a considerable influence on the crisis as well.
For example, a group of people enter a restaurant and order a hefty amount of food and drink. After

Orson Welles’s Citizen Kane (1941) and Akira Kurosawa’s...
Introduction:
At first glance, Citizen Kane and Rashomon seem structurally similar to each other and as well each
explores the concept of truth. They both use multiple narratives to tell their stories; however, the idea
of truth is handled differently in each.
Citizen Kane is a fictionalized documentary about the life of wealthy newspaperman Charles Kane. In
Rashomon, while each narration widens understanding of the motivations of the narrators of the event,
only one of the varying accounts is factual.
Theme:
The central theme of Citizen Kane is exploring a person s life after his death. It talks about a person
and what does audience thinks of that person. This film also analyzes the American Dream of
Happiness.
The theme of Rashomon is Humanity and Reality of the world, that is, different kind of people living
in the world. It also talks about self image. We see or want to see things (or reality) in a way which
suits us and which gives better image of ourselves. There is one more theme which comes in a subtle
way, Metaphysical theme, above or beyond the physical world that is, God and Spiritual world.
Focus:
Citizen Kane focuses on the characterizing of a person. Through reporter Thompson, we are taken on
a journey in which we meet a variety of people, all of whom have something to offer us about Kane s
life, though none can give his entire story. It throws question on us whether Kane is what others say or

The Pros And Cons Of The DREAM Act
About 400,000 illegal immigrants come to the United States each year, each one with their own story
and reasons. These illegal immigrants often have sorrowful stories that make you want to sympathize
with them, but these immigrants never think about how their presence affects the United States. On
September 5th, President Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the end of the DACA

Many proponents of the DREAM Act argue that these kids were brought to the United States before
they had a say in their life circumstances. Denying them hope and opportunity is punishment for an
act beyond their control (Fitz). Supporters of the DREAM Act continually advertise this argument;
They claim that the children are innocent, and the United States is treating these children unjustly, but
not rewarding them with legal residence and expensive college tuition subsidies is simply withholding
benefits to which they never had any entitlement in the first place (Mehlman). These children are
innocent, and deserve to be given an opportunity to come to the United States and have a good
education, but it should not be through the DREAM Act or illegal immigration. It is not un American
to prioritize United States citizens, and other immigrants waiting to enter the country legally. A gross
misconception is that DACA is only opposed by a radical few who want to hurt innocent children and
families, but a recent Quinnipiac University poll shows that Americans across the political spectrum

Advantages Of The Irc Structures
2.5.1. Practical Limitations
Min et al (2011) report that despite the advantages of the IRC structures described above, the cost of
SMAs relative to conventional reinforcing materials (such as steel), in conjunction with the large
amounts of concrete that are used in practice make IRCs viable for only extremely specialised
applications.
Due to the thermomechanical propertied of SMAs, the IRC properties may vary with the ambient
temperature (Menna et al, 2014; pg33).
In addition, as the mechanism of the martensite to austenite phase transformation requires heating, the
actualisation of the large scale heating of the IRC poses an extra hurdle to their application. Min et al
(2011) also note that certain hydration products of cement are unstable at and following treatment at
elevated temperatures, which could lead to uncertainty following treatment for damage recovery.
However, control of the stoichiometry of the SMA used may allow the required Af temperature to be
low enough to prevent such uncertainties. Heat treatments and cold rolling may also be used to
manipulate the transformation properties of SMAs (Mahesh et al, 2009).
2.5.2. Stoichiometric Considerations
SMAs are extremely sensitive to changes in composition (Menna et al, 2014; pg33). Small changes
can significantly change the mechanical properties of the material and so strict quality control is
required to ensure suitable properties. The Ti Ni alloy system is examined in detail above.
Various ternary alloys can

Grimm s Rapunzel Vs. Tangled
Rapunzel vs. Tangled In the Grimm s version of Rapunzel, Rapunzel doesn t get trapped in the tower
until she is twelve years old. The rampion heals Rapunzel s mother of her craving and saves her life,
but it isn t disclosed as to whether the rampion has other magical healing powers. The rampion is
named, but isn t magical. It was the condition of the enchantress for her father stealing the rampion
that took Rapunzel away from her parents. The man that comes to rescue her when she is thirteen or
fourteen is a prince, and he was drawn to the tower because of Rapunzel s singing. He enters the tower

After the enchantress finds out about the Rapunzel and the king s son, she cuts Rapunzel s hair and
took her to a dessert to live out the rest of her life in misery. She then tricked the prince and blinded
him. He wandered about for some years, until he stumbled upon his wife Rapunzel, with her twin
children. Her tears healed his eyes and they lived happily ever after. In Disney s Tangled, Rapunzel is
trapped in the tower for nearly her entire life. Mother Gothel stole Rapunzel from the king and queen
because her hair contained the magical healing powers of the magic flower that saved her mother s
life. Mother Gothel wanted the powers for eternal youth. Since she raised Rapunzel as her own, and
told her she was trapped in the tower for her protection, Rapunzel loved Mother Gothel and felt much
guilt for leaving, and betraying her. In Tangled, the man that comes to the tower is named Flynn Rider.
He doesn t come until the day before her eighteenth birthday. He climbs up the side of the tower in
order to avoid the king s men. He is running from them because he is a thief. Rapunzel didn t need
saving, and knocked Flynn out with a frying pan when he broke into her tower. She demands that he

The Congenital Defects Affecting Livestock
Introduction
Physiological anomalies, regardless of animal species, have captured the imagination of people
throughout history, whether it be showcased in a traveling freakshow or inspiring mythical creatures in
the likes of Cerberus. Congenital duplication refers to birth defects in which a fetus is born with extra
appendages, organs, or other bodily characteristics due to a multitude of causes [1]. These include
maternal deficiencies and diet, environmental factors, genetics, as well as bacterial or viral infection in
utero [1]. The congenital defects affecting livestock covered in this factsheet refer to facial or cranial
duplication, known as dicephaly, as well as polymelia, which refers to the presence of replicated limbs
[1][2]. The latter condition, appears in many domestic species, albeit most frequently in cattle [3].
Types of Dicephaly and Polymelia
Dicephaly and polymelia can both be categorized into subgroups according to their respective corporal
duplicate properties.Dicephaly can be divided into two categories, the first being diprosopus
dicephalus, the replication of the face and cranium resulting in two separate heads, and the second,
diprosopus monauchenos, pertaining to the replication of facial structures with a sole neck [4].The
four categories of polymelia include: cephalomelia, which refers to appendages sprouting in the
cranial region, notomelia, in which limbs grow on the back, thoracomelia, involving the thorax, and
pygomelia, relating to growth

Ductus Deferens Research Paper
Ductus deferens
The ductus deferens (otherwise known as the vas deferens) is a structure found in the male
reproductive system. There are two ductus deferens and they are identical in their structure and
function. The primary function of the ductus deferens is to store and transport sperm to the ejaculatory
duct, connecting the epididymis, merging into the urethra pushing it forward and allowing the sperm
to exit the body. The ductus deferens are designed for this function, characterised by thick muscular
walls, which perform peristalsis. The inside wall consists of a moist folded layer of mucous
membrane, which is further surrounded by three layers of circular and longitudinal muscle fibres. At
the end of the ductus deferens are the ampulla, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The skin of the scrotum becomes wrinkled due to the underlying dartos muscle. The testes must be
kept at temperature that is lower than 3oC, so that spermatogenesis can occur. The scrotum uses a
muscle (the cremaster muscle) to achieve this. When the cremaster muscle shrinks, the testes move
closer to the scrotum, and this increases the temperature of them. They can also be cooled down by
dilating and moving away from the testes, dropping them in temperature. The testes receive their
blood flow from the anterior and posterior scrotal artery. The venous blood flows through the
testicular veins and then into the vena cava. Another function of the testes is to protect the testes from
injury, hence why one testis hangs lower than the other, to avoid compression in the event of impact.
Testes (Male gonads)
The testes are two ovular organs found in the male reproductive system. They are held in place by a
spermatic cord, which is a collection of vessels, nerves and ducts that run from more than one part of
the testes. The testes function to create the hormone testosterone; a primary male sex hormone which
generates the production of sperm. The seminiferous tubules which are located in the testes are
responsible for the production of sperm cells, and the sperm made in this process line the tubules until
they reach maturity and are released into the lumen of the seminiferous tubule.

Peta People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals
The organization known as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has an article on their
website condemning the use of leather products. Simply titled The Leather Industry and accessible by
typing cowsarecool.com , this article aims to show how cruelly animals are treated while their skin is
being obtained to make leather. This website supports the belief that that when you buy leather you are
an accessory to animal cruelty because they think that any informed person would not fund the
industry while they operate in this manner. This article is primarily geared towards those who are
easily swayed by slaughter pictures and have so much excess empathy that they are willing to let
PETA dictate what they wear.
PETA claims that you are an accessory to animal cruelty by stating With every pair of leather shoes
that you buy, you sentence an animal to a lifetime of suffering . They then go on to list all the ways in
which animals are subjected to torture while in a slaughter house. Stella McCartney states in her video
posted on the website that our aim is not to tell you what you wear yet clearly PETA is trying to
pressure you as evidenced in the first quote. I think that PETA means well but they barrage you with
all this evidence of suffering that it s hard not to feel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She mentions that most leather comes from developing countries...where animal welfare laws are
nonexistent . She says that in such places cruelty towards animals manifests in different ways, for
example in India a worker may break cows tails or rub chili pepper into their eyes...after they collapse
from exhaustion . She goes on to use an example from the US, In the US...animals routinely have their
throats cut and some are even skinned and dismembered while they are still conscious , to show us
that cruelty is not isolated to developing countries but may be happening in our own back

Managing Mobility After a Total Knee Replacement
November 15, 2011
INTRODUCTION In Kindred Rehabilitation, the patient had a total knee replacement due to
osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis causes degenerative changes, within the joints causing bone stiffening and
reactive inflammation. My patient was admitted on 10/21/11 with osteoarthritis and a left total knee
replacement. Her PT and INR were a concern because she had developed mild thrombocytopenia
which resulted in the elevation and potential bleeding. The physician had to take her off of Lovenox
and switch her to an oral anti coagulant Xarelto at 10mg once daily. During her care I was educated by

The agenda was quite clear that during their observations the recovery showed needs were decreased
according to age and BMI. They stated older patients were in need of more assistance and longer stay
in the hospital as opposed to younger adults. I found it interesting that they saw patients with bilateral
knees had decreased needs and that unilateral were in need of more assistance before discharge.
Managing pain was their first priority during research and rehabilitation, followed by instructing care
of their own surgical wound. The aim of this study was to actively reinforce assessment and
management after this procedure and giving guidance to those in health care. According to Su et all
(2009), knee replacement is an effective way to find relief of pain and improve mobility, but most
importantly giving the patient education and skills during early recovery. In comparison, all articles
focused on the need of improving mobility after surgery. Assessing the patient s abilities and the need
for physical therapy and keeping an eye out for complications. A main focus was pain relief and that
recovery for each patient varies, but it is important to get them ambulating with assistive devices soon
after surgery. My patient at Kindred, had continuous assessment and an interdisciplinary team that

Essay on Why Hybrid Cars Should Not Be Purchased
As the gas price is rising up to 140 cents per litre in Canada, many people switch their vehicle to
gasoline electric hybrid car to gain savings from the better fuel efficiency. Many potential consumers
for hybrid vehicle and hybrid vehicle owners think that the hybrid system is worth the extra penny due
to better fuel economy. However, the realistic is that it has higher maintenance despite of its
outstanding fuel economy figures. In fact, the hybrids cause more environmental damage than
conventional petro powered vehicles and there are better alternatives. Therefore, hybrids should not be
on consumers shopping list due to a numerous negative facts that consumers are unaware of.

As a result, consumer is forced to pay for the battery pack which costs around $4,000 from their
pocket, not manufactures . When the battery pack is replaced, despite of good fuel economy, it costs
more to own hybrid than conventional vehicle.
Many people buy hybrid cars because they have been told that hybrids are much more eco friendly
than any other vehicles out on the market and they feel proud for supporting the Mother Nature.
Surprisingly, it is a fact that a recent report announced that the Toyota Prius has a higher life time
energy cost than Hummer H1 SUV (kentlaw.edu). It also states, There are, however, environmental
costs to mining and smelting (in Canada) 1,000 tons a year of zinc for the battery powered second
motor, and the shipping of the zinc 10,000 miles trailing a cloud of carbon to Wales for refining and
then to China for turning it into the component that goes to a battery factory in Japan (kentlaw.edu). In
other words, the hybrids emit less carbon dioxide and other gases but it releases far more energies and
toxic gases into atmosphere at production and disposal stage.
In addition, consumer must be aware that there are better alternatives to hybrids on market. Thanks to
advancing technology, many petro powered and diesel powered vehicle get similar EPA fuel economy
on highway. From German automotive manufacture, they have developed Clean Diesel such as Blue
Tec from Mercedes Benz and TDI from Volkswagen which

  • 2. Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots During the sixteenth century there where many conflicts which occurred between Catholics and Protestants. The Kings and Queens of England especially kept on changing between both religions. This made it very difficult for the people of England to choose a religion because laws kept on getting changed in regard to practicing religion. When Elizabeth I became Queen she became the new defender of the faith, thus making Protestantism the official religion. One of the harshest parts of Elizabeth s reign was the whole Mary, Queen of Scots, ordeal. Mary was Elizabeth s cousin and next in line to the throne. Of course Mary was Catholic and that is what made the whole issue an issue. This paper will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She became the darling of the Northern Catholics who hoped to remove that upstart commoner William Cecil and his Protestant Queen, replacing them with Mary. It seems to have been purely a political arrangement and it failed almost before it began, but the northern earls rose in revolt and died for the idea. 19 Parliament and the country at large clamored for the execution of the two principles. Norfolk was exacuted as a traitor and Mary s life was saved only by Elizabeth who refused to agree to Parliament s demands for her death. 20 Mary never learned from her past experience and continued to conspire against Elizabeth. Finally in 1586 letters were intercepted from Mary which conclusively proved her involvement in a plot organized by Anthony Babington to murder Elizabeth and a commission was set up to examine and try Mary at Fotheringhay Castle in Northamptonshire. 21 The commission, consisting of leading peers, councilors and judges, found Mary guilty on two charges of treason, and in November 1586 both Houses of Parliament unanimously petitioned Elizabeth to proceed to the just sentence of execution. 22 For two months Elizabeth agonized over the decision. She hated the thought of killing a relative as well she knew that Mary s death would arouse fierce resentment throughout Catholic Europe and would likely spark retaliation. 23 After endless thought and stalling, Elizabeth finally gave ... Montgomery, a senior lecturer in primary care research; C. Emmett, the trail coordinator; T. Fahey, a professor of general practice; and C. Jones, held the research assistant position. Along with the above; I. Rickettes, professor of assistive systems and health computing; R. Patel, is a specialist registrar in obstetrics and gynecology; T. Peters, professor of primary care health services research; and lastly D. Murphy, a professor of obstetrics and representing on behalf of the Decision Aids for Mode of Next Delivery (DIAMOND) study group (Montgomery, et al. 2007). The authors clearly stated within the title the study is a randomized controlled trial and is both a qualitative and qualitative study. The purpose of the study was to find decision aids for mode of delivery among women that have previously had a caesarean section; which as well was stated in the research title (Montgomery, et al. 2007). The abstract was very informative and effective for explaining and giving an overview of the entire study, explaining design, objectives, setting, participants, interventions, measures, and results. The study was funded by the BUPA Foundation and the AAM was partially supported by a postdoctoral fellowship from the UK Department of Health National Coordinating Centre for Research Capacity Development (Montgomery, et al. 2007). • 4. Comparing Of Mice And Men And What s Eating Gilbert Grape What s Eating Gilbert Grape Dir. Lasse Hallstrom and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck are two very similar pieces of storytelling about caring for the misfortunate. In Of Mice and Men George cares for his mentally challenged friend Lennie, and in, What s Eating Gilbert Grape, Gilbert takes care of his mentally disabled brother Arnie. Both George and Gilbert care more for the well being and defence of their loved one, than they do for their own well being in most cases. In the end of What s Eating Gilbert Grape, Gilbert s mother dies; in a dramatic and tangible gesture to rid himself of his past, Gilbert burns their house down. In a symbolic similarity, at the end of Of Mice and Men George kills Lennie in an effort to release him of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... George kills Lennie not because he doesn t like Lennie but because he s tired of dealing with him, and he wants to be able to start over and have a good life, and he knows he can t if Lennie is around. George is always saying how he wants him and Lennie to live on a farm but is always doubting if Lennie can stay on track, and he is always wondering if Lennie is gonna mess up their chances. Comparably Gilbert s decision to burn down his house is his way of proclaiming his starting over, and symbolically saying that nothing good ever came of that house and that nothing ever would. Gilbert is talking to Becky and is saying how much he hates living in his house and that he hates how lazy and fat his mom is. This is more obvious for Gilbert because throughout the whole movie he is completely selfless and only cares about taking care of his family. Both of their decisions were very important to show that they were finally taking control of their lives, and that they decided to finally do something for themselves. Unfortunately in order to do this both characters looked to destructive and violent ways of freeing themselves. Perhaps these burdens were so great that they had to take destructive measures to alleviate themselves from them, or perhaps they simply never learned another away and had to take extreme measure to enact any change in their ... Hatshepsut s Impact On The Pharaohs Of Egypt When we think of the great pharaohs of Egypt, we often think of King Tut and Ramses II, and when we think of great female pharaohs, we think of Cleopatra. However, one of Egypt s most prominent pharaohs is none of the above. Arguably one of the most underrated pharaohs in terms of their overall impact on Egypt is Hatshepsut. Born to King Thutmose I by the principal wife and queen, Hatshepsut married her half brother Thutmose II at age 12. After the death of her husband, her stepson and next in line to the throne, Thutmose III, was too young to take the throne, so Hatshepsut took over the reign of Egypt. It can be argued that the importance of Nelson Mandela in the ending of apartheid has been greatly exaggerated. Apartheid ended due to a combination of long term and short term events. The ANC represented the main opposition of apartheid while protests and rebellions caught the attention of the world, international sanctions put pressure on the south African government and something had to be done before their economy completely fell apart. De Klerk shocked the country when he took the first step towards abolishing apartheid although, the spark of light and face of rebellion, Mandela, provided the inspiration to make the end of apartheid possible. ... At this time an identical plan was created in sharpville and turned into what would be known as the sharpville massacre. Due to the event in sharpville the march was called off and a ban was placed on gatherings. However later that day protestors gathered again. The police ordered the protesters to disperse and baton charged them and the protestors retaliated with stones. Langa was very tense that night as angry protestors barricaded the streets and looted policemen s homes. The death toll by the end of the day in Langa was three, shot and killed by white policemen. The sharpville massacre and the langa shootings had a great impact on apartheid, the damage done was costly and the government had become ungovernable. Violence caused the protests to be a major factor in the end of apartheid because it was so costly. • 11. Gram Positive Bacteria And Gram Negative Bacteria Bacteria can be divided into two types of species, gram positive bacteria and gram negative bacteria. To determine whether a certain type of bacteria was classified tests were conducted by Hans Christian Gram; who discovered the differences within the cell walls of the bacteria. Gram positive bacteria have a thick wall which consists of the protein peptidoglycan. This is opposite to gram negative bacteria which has a thin cell wall, which fold over each other (Wells, 2017). They retain a much thinner peptidoglycan wall between two membranes. The membrane surrounding the cytoplasm and the outer membrane. (Wikipedia, 2017). Both gram positive and gram negative bacteria both stain, gram positive retains violet dye. Gram positive bacteria don t retain the dye and turn red or pink (Diffen, 2017). Due the difference in cell wall thickness gram negative bacteria is harder to inhibit, compared to gram positive bacteria. Two types of bacteria will be tested throughout this investigation, Serratia Marcescens and Staphylococcus Epidermidis. Serratia Marcescens are gram negative bacteria, which can be found on any surface. They mainly occur in water, soil, or and within animals located in their digestive tract (Antonette B Climaco, 2017 ). They are stained red which can often be mistaken with blood drops. How Steinbeck Uses Two of His Characters to Explore the Role of Power in Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck The two characters that I have chosen to examine for exploring the role of power in the novel are Slim and Curley. Slim is a highly skilled mule driver and the acknowledged prince of the ranch. Slim is both respected and admired by all of the men he works with. In the book it says that Slim s opinion in law and that Slim don t need to wear no high heeled boots to say that he is superior over the others because that s how the men see him anyway. Slim s height is also used to reflect his status and shows us that even though he could have physical power over the men, he chooses not to, instead he respects them. Slim is seen as the leader by the men even though it seems that he is equal to them. The fact that Slim is very modest seems to make him even more powerful. The relationship between Slim and the men is symbiotic because he gives them as much respect as they give to him. Carlson stepped back to let Slim precede him. This shows that the men are willing to let Slim go before them, because of the relationship that they have, and it appears to happen in a natural way. There is a big difference in the way that Slim and Curley use their power. Slim does not abuse the power he has, unlike Curley. Slim if fairly equal to the other men as he wears the same type of clothes, works hard and sleeps in the bunkhouse along with them. I think that this makes the men respect him more as he is one of them and does not see himself as superior to them. Curley wears boots to make himself stand out and does not work like the others do. • 15. Idealism And Realism In International Relations In the fields of International Relations, there are two important theories, idealism and realism. They are two contrasting and competing approaches in study of international relations. Idealism is what could be , planning the world as what they wish for it to become. Realism is what actually is , seeing the world as it actually is. People may ask, which one is more preferable? Though it s a decision of one s own perception that will never come to a correct answer, I argue that realism is more preferential because peace that idealists promote isn t applicable for everything in this complicated world, making idealism too normative. Idealism in general, highlights peace as a central theme. The main point of idealism is improving the society by eliminating war, violence, hunger, inequality and use of force. Therefore, idealists argue that war should be abolished and wish to reform the community through an emphasis eliminating all bad behaviours. They believe doing what s right is more preferred than doing what s in national interest. They also emphasize that the society will become better when people are working for common goals in the nation. Idealism have a strong sense of removing the evil . Idealists are optimistic about human nature, and wish for the international relations cycle to be peaceful and free from conflict. Some famous idealist thinkers are, John Stuart Mill, Immanuel Kant, and Woodrow Wilson. A suitable example would Woodrow Wilson and the League of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, where an accepted appeal can be voted into law, referendum which involved the review of the proposed laws or direct election of senators instead of using the normal method of legislation. Progressives always recorded success in pushing of reforms into laws. The explanation for this could be attributed to the high level of education that the progressives hard, consequently being more influential. The initiatives that they pushed became triumphant than the legislative docket (Piott, 2006; Smith, 2012). This paper seek to explore the programs that Roosevelt and Wilson initiated in a bid to advocate for progressivism. Progressivism was powerfully present after Theodore Roosevelt took on power from McKinley, following his assassination in 1901. Roosevelt became the first president to have a linking to the aspect progressivism. He was dubbed a man as a champion of cautious, moderate change. The parliament appeals to the Scottish people and try to improve the Scottish economy. Visit Scotland directed at tourists and is rather stereotypical. They do not convey a true image of modern Scotland. They are trying to appeal to two different audiences but they are making mistakes and this is causing Scotland to suffer. Throughout this essay is going to contemplate and examine how both the Scottish Parliament and Visit Scotland have a direct and significant impact on how the image of modern day Scotland is portrayed. Visit Scotland and the tourist industry convey images of Scotland which show that people are always happy. These images are aimed at tourists in order to bring people to Scotland. There is a sense of community and belonging however are they only showing rural Scotland. The images of modern Scotland are not shown. This means that their images only show the countryside. • 25. Figurative Language And Imagery InJuggler, By Richard Wilbur The poem Juggler describes how the tricks the juggler acts out for the crowd amaze and intrigue them. In the poem Juggler by Richard Wilbur, the author uses imagery, figurative language and tone to describe the juggler as someone who brings happiness and fun to others. The use of imagery, figurative language, and tone are used to describe the juggler and reveal the speaker s own views about the world. Throughout the poem the author uses imagery to describe the juggler s appearance and the tricks he is accomplishing in his show. For example, Wilbur states, it takes a sky blue juggler with five red balls...to shake our gravity up. (lines 6 7). The author s description of the juggler as someone who can shake our gravity up (line 7) shows that the juggler is someone who has a tremendous impact on the audience and the speaker. This is true since the crowd is full of serious people and the juggler evokes happiness and astonishment from the audience. Moreover, by saying this the audience is able to get an insight into the life of the speaker; we are able to see that not a lot of things happen in the speaker s life that cause or bring up excitement and happiness. Additionally, Wilbur shows the reader how the juggler is performing, the author says, Oh, on his toe the table is turning, the broom s Balancing up on his nose, and the plate whirls. On the tip of the broom! (lines 9 21). We can see that as the juggler is performing his great trick the crowd is excited and amazed at what he is accomplishing through his performance when the author says, Damn, what a show, we cry... (line 21). Having the crowd cheer at the juggler as he completes his trick of the balancing act showed that the juggler was able to bring happiness and amazement with the many tricks he was able to perform for the crowd. As the poem progresses, we can see how the juggler manipulates the five red balls he is using to move around his body. In the poem, Wilbur uses figurative language like personification to show how the balls move by the tricks the juggler does. For example, Wilbur says, The balls roll around, wheel on his wheeling hand, learning the ways of lightness, alter to spheres, grazing his finger ends, cling to their course ... The change in Griffin s character occurs due to his invisibility and the power it provides because there is no one, on this view, who is iron willed enough to maintain his morality and find the strength of purpose to keep his hands off what does not belong to him, when he is able to take whatever he wants from the market stalls without fear of being discovered, to enter houses and sleep with ... The absence of consequences strips away the good in Griffin s nature and fosters his madness as he starts stealing from the markets and begins his spree of breaking into houses. • 38. The Pros And Cons Of The DREAM Act About 400,000 illegal immigrants come to the United States each year, each one with their own story and reasons. These illegal immigrants often have sorrowful stories that make you want to sympathize with them, but these immigrants never think about how their presence affects the United States. On September 5th, President Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the end of the DACA program; they contended that undocumented immigrants took economic opportunities away from citizens and lawful permanent residents (DREAM). The DACA program was created in 2012 by President Obama and allowed illegal immigrants to stay in the United States. Recently, President Trump ended the program, but gave Congress a window to formulate a better plan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many proponents of the DREAM Act argue that these kids were brought to the United States before they had a say in their life circumstances. Denying them hope and opportunity is punishment for an act beyond their control (Fitz). Supporters of the DREAM Act continually advertise this argument; They claim that the children are innocent, and the United States is treating these children unjustly, but not rewarding them with legal residence and expensive college tuition subsidies is simply withholding benefits to which they never had any entitlement in the first place (Mehlman). These children are innocent, and deserve to be given an opportunity to come to the United States and have a good education, but it should not be through the DREAM Act or illegal immigration. It is not un American to prioritize United States citizens, and other immigrants waiting to enter the country legally. A gross misconception is that DACA is only opposed by a radical few who want to hurt innocent children and families, but a recent Quinnipiac University poll shows that Americans across the political spectrum favor tougher enforcement of existing immigration laws over rolling out the amnesty welcome wagon. (Malkin). Despite this poll, many patrons of the DREAM Act think that continued amnesty is a right the United States is taking away, when in truth, the general public supports tougher immigration law. The DREAM literally goes against popular opinion, as it sponsors amnesty, and not harsher immigration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Advantages Of The Irc Structures 2.5.1. Practical Limitations Min et al (2011) report that despite the advantages of the IRC structures described above, the cost of SMAs relative to conventional reinforcing materials (such as steel), in conjunction with the large amounts of concrete that are used in practice make IRCs viable for only extremely specialised applications. Due to the thermomechanical propertied of SMAs, the IRC properties may vary with the ambient temperature (Menna et al, 2014; pg33). In addition, as the mechanism of the martensite to austenite phase transformation requires heating, the actualisation of the large scale heating of the IRC poses an extra hurdle to their application. Min et al (2011) also note that certain hydration products of cement are unstable at and following treatment at elevated temperatures, which could lead to uncertainty following treatment for damage recovery. However, control of the stoichiometry of the SMA used may allow the required Af temperature to be low enough to prevent such uncertainties. Heat treatments and cold rolling may also be used to manipulate the transformation properties of SMAs (Mahesh et al, 2009). 2.5.2. Stoichiometric Considerations SMAs are extremely sensitive to changes in composition (Menna et al, 2014; pg33). Small changes can significantly change the mechanical properties of the material and so strict quality control is required to ensure suitable properties. Congenital duplication refers to birth defects in which a fetus is born with extra appendages, organs, or other bodily characteristics due to a multitude of causes [1]. These include maternal deficiencies and diet, environmental factors, genetics, as well as bacterial or viral infection in utero [1]. The congenital defects affecting livestock covered in this factsheet refer to facial or cranial duplication, known as dicephaly, as well as polymelia, which refers to the presence of replicated limbs [1][2]. The latter condition, appears in many domestic species, albeit most frequently in cattle [3]. Types of Dicephaly and Polymelia Dicephaly and polymelia can both be categorized into subgroups according to their respective corporal duplicate properties.Dicephaly can be divided into two categories, the first being diprosopus dicephalus, the replication of the face and cranium resulting in two separate heads, and the second, diprosopus monauchenos, pertaining to the replication of facial structures with a sole neck [4].The four categories of polymelia include: cephalomelia, which refers to appendages sprouting in the cranial region, notomelia, in which limbs grow on the back, thoracomelia, involving the thorax, and pygomelia, relating to growth ... There are two ductus deferens and they are identical in their structure and function. The primary function of the ductus deferens is to store and transport sperm to the ejaculatory duct, connecting the epididymis, merging into the urethra pushing it forward and allowing the sperm to exit the body. The ductus deferens are designed for this function, characterised by thick muscular walls, which perform peristalsis. The inside wall consists of a moist folded layer of mucous membrane, which is further surrounded by three layers of circular and longitudinal muscle fibres. The testes must be kept at temperature that is lower than 3oC, so that spermatogenesis can occur. The scrotum uses a muscle (the cremaster muscle) to achieve this. When the cremaster muscle shrinks, the testes move closer to the scrotum, and this increases the temperature of them. They can also be cooled down by dilating and moving away from the testes, dropping them in temperature. The testes receive their blood flow from the anterior and posterior scrotal artery. The venous blood flows through the testicular veins and then into the vena cava. Another function of the testes is to protect the testes from injury, hence why one testis hangs lower than the other, to avoid compression in the event of impact. Testes (Male gonads) The testes are two ovular organs found in the male reproductive system. They are held in place by a spermatic cord, which is a collection of vessels, nerves and ducts that run from more than one part of the testes. The testes function to create the hormone testosterone; a primary male sex hormone which generates the production of sperm.
