Abstract:
The primary goal of our experiment is to construct an automated house that will be more energy
efficient than an average house. SmartWindows that will automatically close and adjust to conform
with any outside conditions. Our primary motivation is from the huge amount of domestic power that
is lost every year, which can become a large sum when converted to money. As personal victims of
this unfortunate monetary loss, finding and developing a solution to this problem prompted this
investigation and subsequent experiment. The experimenting process is fairly simple but will take an
extended period of time through two phases: construction and experimentation. First the model house
must be constructed from balsa wood blocks and held together by a combination of glue and staples.
Then the windows will be constructed, with plexiglass substituting for glass Next, the actual window
opening apparatus must be created in AutoDesk Inventor before being 3D printed. This apparatus will
be connected to the Arduino module, which will be programmed to control the functions of the house
and making sure everything runs effectively and efficiently. The windows are our primary focus and
will be the most important improvement but more may be

The Causes Of Video Games And Videogames Cause Violence
Columbine, Connecticut and virginia all of these places burdened with tragedy. Families, loved ones,
lost. Though we seemed to have suffered quite enough, nothing heals the heart of those who were
related to those lost like politics. One thing besides tragedy that has related these events is oddly
enough videogames. With of course the big debate, videogames cause violence. Well of course there is
truth to the argument, but the question we are gonna consider is the quality of the arguments put forth.
In that area they just slander or do they leave you with information to think about.
One argument we hear time and time again is that videogames and videogame violence alike make the
user (usually quoted as child) violent. Even a broad consensus (90% of pediatricians and 67% of
parents) that video games causes violent behavior in children. to the point whereas even a causal

Admiral Mcraven s Commencement Speech
If I had Admiral William McRaven giving the commencement speech at my high school, I would have
felt honored. Due to his distinguished service record and the fact that he was a member of the Navy
SEALs, the advice that he could have given to my class would be extremely valuable. With his
experiences, the information passed onto us would be relatable to almost anything. So I would have
been ecstatic if Admiral McRaven would have given the speech at my high school graduation.
Through his speech, Admiral McRaven expressed information in many different areas. One point that
he expressed was that if you want to change the world, find someone to help you paddle (7:15 7:18).
As a member of the ERAU Prescott Honors Program, I would use this advice

There are myriad ways a child may develop a love of reading, however in the modern era it seems that
this passion and hunger for not only knowledge but for the pure enjoyment derived from it has been
all but lost. I have children of my own that are not old enough to begin to approach about this and
most other children I see are too endeavored with their tablets, videogames and social media to be
concerned with it. I can therefore only speak from the one common frame of reference I have and that
is myself. In doing so, I will inform you of just how a child may develop a love of reading and
possibly shed some light on how children may come to have a love of reading even now.
I had a wonderful incentive in the form of a persistent grandmother whom would always shut the
television off and put a book in my hands. I claimed that I hated the time it took having to read these
boringly annoying things called words in no less an object made out of paper, but the experience
began to far outweigh the reservations I had about the activity at hand. I was started off with books
based on real life events. Not very interesting to a child indeed, but one aspect of children is their
curiosity and desire to know more, inquiring about the hows and whys of things, the way they are,
who was that and where did they come from. My own thirst for knowledge not only grew but
expanded beyond the simple trappings of my grandmother s personal collection and so she decided to

alcohol is used throughout the story, it helps give the character a boost of sanity, control, and energy.
Cheever use of flashback helps the reader imagine the mood and helps set the tone by saying it was
one of those midsummer Sundays when everyone sits around saying, I drank too much last night.

Structural Formula Of Lexapro
Health Professionals make crucial decisions for prescriptions regarding pharmaceutical information.
Drug company promotional material is used by medical professionals to expand the knowledge of
certain prescriptions to their patients to secure a plan of action to treat their illness. The active
ingredient in Lexapro is Escitalopram oxalate. Escitalopram oxalate is an antidepressant in a drug
group called SSRI, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor.
The chemical name of Lexapro is Escitalopram. The IUPAC name is (1S) 1 [3 (dimethylamino)
propyl] 1 (4 fluorophenyl) 3H 2 benzofuran 5 carbonitrile, and the molecular formula is
C20H21FN2O.2 Lexapro is used for treating major anxiety and depression in adolescents and adults.
When diagnosed with depression, you lack the chemical serotonin. Serotonin is made in both the brain
and intestines, linking

your mood and other functions of your body. Lexapro works to boost the chemical activity of
Serotonin in your brain to mentally battle depression. The balancing act is created when serotonin is
released from one nerve cell and becomes available to the next. During this process, some of the
serotonin released is reabsorbed by the first nerve cell. Lexapro will block the re absorption of
serotonin into the first cell, which will eventually lead to an increased amount of serotonin to become
available.7

Hathi And Kiplings
This week s readings suggest an order and rule in the jungle that is akin to that of a monarchy which is
perhaps influenced by Kiplings British heritage. Just as a prince is born from a King, so was Hathi
born from Tha, the Lord of the Jungle. In both scenarios, the rulers and leaders were born into power
and their rule is respected and honored by the followers. The drought brought all the jungle together
under one Law and Hathi was the enforcer. His leadership was not challenged and once the water
truce was declared, no animal challenged it. It was evident almost immediately that How Fear Came is
essentially a reiteration of the fall of the Garden of Eden and the summoning away of Adam and Eve.

Have you ever been to a camp that did not even have a roof to cover people from the rain? The camp

After the games concluded the campers were given the freedom to talk and tell stories. The camp lasts

Essay on The Concerto
The Concerto
Since the Baroque era, the concerto has played a vital role in the music world. According to the
Merriam Webster dictionary, a concerto is a composition for one or more soloists and orchestra with
three contrasting movements. There are two main types: the concerto grosso and the classical
concerto; both will be discussed later. While the term concerto is relatively easy to understand in
context, when put into use the term becomes more complicated to define.
The basic elements that make up a concerto include three movements with one movement usually
dedicated for a solo instrument such as the piano or violin with orchestra accompaniment. Since the
late 18th century, the first movement is most likely in the sonata form ... Show more content on

By doing this, the sound made by the groups swells, portraying to the audience a sound of growth and
progression. According to the textbook Music Appreciation Online, in this type of concerto, a tutti
section, a full orchestra (with basso continuo), and a small group of solo instruments usually referred
to as the concertino or principale is used. In the concertino section, two or more soloists are used.
Arcangelo Corelli was the first major composer of the concerti grossi (the Italian form of the concerto
grosso). The concerto grosso comes in two major forms: the concerto da chiesa (church chant) and the
concerto da camera (chamber concert). The concerto da chiesa was used for formal occasions and
alternated between adagio and allegro movements. For the most part, the movements were written in
the same key, however there were occasions where one or more of the movements were in contrasting
tonality. The sonata de camera was made up of a prelude and a succession of dances that were all in
the same key. Its structure was that of a slow introduction, a fugued allegro, a cantabile slow
movement and an energetic finale. This setup created its dancelike sound and feeling. The sonata da
camera composition grew to be referred to as a suite, a partita, or in the French opera

Marge Piercy s Poem A Work Of Artifice
A Work of Artifice Women have historically been mistreated and considered the weaker gender , while
men are seen as the dominant gender. Feminism isn t about making women stronger. Women are
already strong. It s about changing the way the world perceives that strength. G.D Anderson. This
quote from G.D Anderson corresponds to Marge Piercy s poem A Work of Artifice . A Work of
Artifice is an allegory published in 1999. The speaker is a feminist and the poem is written in third
person. The poem sets a sarcastic tone while talking about the oppression of women and how women
suffer in society. Piercy uses poetic devices such as metaphors, diction and allusions to show how
society subjugates women to fit the accepted idea of beauty. Throughout A Work of Artifice , an
extended metaphor of a Bonsai Tree is used. The Bonsai tree represents a women. A gardener is also
used to represent a man and/or society. The speaker expresses that the Bonsai Tree could have grown

Diction is used very early in A work of ARTIFICE , the word artifice is a relevant example of the use
of diction. When the reader first sees the word art in artifice, an image of beauty arouses the mind.
However, artifice has nothing to do with beauty , it actually means to deceive others. This is seen in
the poem as the bonsai tree or the women is being oppressed to fit the ideal image of beauty in society.
Another relevant example of the use of diction is the word pruned . Pruned is often associated with
cutting down a tree or plant to make it look more attractive . In the poem the gardener pruned the
bonsai tree. Through this , the speaker shows how society suppresses women from reaching their full
protein to fit their stereotype and remain attractive . The use of diction compliments the extended
metaphor and helps show how society subjugates

Although RFID technology is implemented, this technology cannot tell whether the shoppers have

The Social Problem Of Crime
This information analysis focuses on the social problem computer crime, but more specifically
identity theft. In this paper, I analyzed six different articles from various sources. I chose cyber crime
as my topic because I have an interest in computers and coding. I also like to watch documentaries and
a television show on cybercrime scene investigations. Analyzing articles on this topic will help me
develop further knowledge on this topic and how it is considered a social problem in our society.
Computer crime refers to any violation of the law in which a computer is the target or means of
criminal activity (Mooney, Knox, Schacht, 2014, p.113). Computer crime is also known as
cybercrime. Cybercrime continues to have far reaching effects because it affects individuals,
companies, and organizations and is increasingly a problem in the globalized world we live in. This is
because we rely so much on cell phones, computers, and us many social network sites. Cybercrime is
considered a social problem because it negatively affects a large group of people in our society. In
2014, there were 1.5 million cyber attacks worldwide ( IBM Cyber Security Intelligence Index, 2015,
pg.13). One type of computer crime is identity theft. Identity theft is the use of someone else s
personal information to obtain credit or other economic rewards (Mooney, et al, 2014, pg.113).
Identity theft first became a crime in 1998, when Congress passed the Identity Theft and Assumption

with reelection. A policy maker who is identifying requirements could decide to focus resources on an
issue that is less vital to the nation s security in order to obtain information that will get them
reelected. High level threats could be pushed to the side in order to address an issue that is not
necessarily as vital but is a hot topic in news media, and public opinion. This would be followed down
by the intelligence community and the more dangerous area or individual threat could be left
unmonitored.
2. Often briefings and communication between high level officials and analysts are hectic times and
communication of requirements could not be communicated clearly. A policy maker giving feedback
on collection objectives or asking questions could be perceived by the intelligence official as
requesting more information when really that policy maker has enough information to make a
decision. This is an issue when two people come from different backgrounds and use different
phrasing, objectives could be easily misunderstood. Time and resources would then be wasted to
gather intelligence on issues that are no longer relevant.
3. Officials in the intelligence community often faced with new policy makers or those with differing
views from those in the intelligence community could decide to ignore or alter requirements to suit
their own

The area we know today as Elmwood was still a wandering...
The area we know today as Elmwood was still a wandering haunt of the Omaha, Pawnee, and Otoe
Indians in the 1860 s. It was dotted with buffalo wallows, and trails of the kind so familiar to Lewis
and Clark, and the Mormons, who helped open the great western frontier. Danger and challenge were
everywhere; but so was opportunity in the Homestead Act passed by Congress in 1862. For facing the
rigors of the frontier life, the head of a family could obtain 160 acres of good black land if he could
survive for five years and make some improvements. The post office was commissioned in 1868 at a
log cabin built just east and north of the present town of Elmwood by David McCaig, who suggested
that it be known to residents as Elmwood because of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

flames shot into the sky. The next bucket of fuel put the fire out! The fellows in town, angry that the
bonfire was a failure, decided to gather up the old fashioned outhouses for a real blaze! The Opera
House was built about 1890. It took the place of the old band stand that used to be where the Masonic
Hall is now. Elmwood had a number of early bands, and one bandsman, Del Greenslate, had a cornet
so small he could put it in his pocket. Big wheeler bicycles were a popular in the early days. Del
Greenslate, Charlie Stevens, W. E. Rosencrans, and William Atchison would sometimes cycle to
Louisville, Weeping Water, and back to Elmwood on a Sunday afternoon. Gil Hooley had a popcorn
stand that he hauled to the corner where the American Exchange Bank stands today. He sold popcorn
every Saturday afternoon and evening. On Sunday it was common fun to pick the stand up and haul it
two miles south of town and put it in the creek. Sometimes it could be found on top of Doc Hobb s

Pow 3 Rectangles
Problem statement:
What you are trying to find is how many rebounds and in what corner will a pool ball land. Each shot
will start at the lower left corners and will always start moving at a 45 degree angle. The table is a
rectangle with pockets in each of the four corners. The pool table has whole number dimensions. I am
trying to figure out the patterns or formulas for the pool table.
Process:
I first started making squares and rectangles on a graph paper, and did this in a group of three. Then I
started drawing lines at a 45 degree angle, if they hit one of the sides of the wall then I would keep on
drawing the lines at a 45 degree angle until the ball would go into one of the pockets. If you wouldn t

But the one thing that I didn t quite get to is the super solution but all of my mini solutions work for all
sorts of rectangles. My solutions were two of the same numbers always equal zero. I know that this
works because if you do a 6 by 6 you would get 0 rebounds. A number and one are always the number
subtracted by one. If you do a 4 by 1 you would get 3 rebounds. If the dimensions can be reduced to
Š¢Š then the rebound will be one. For example, an 8 by 4 has one rebound. If the dimensions have a
two in it, then the other number is the number of rebounds that you have. For example, If you had a 7
by 2 there would be 7 rebounds. You take the first dimension and add it to the second dimension and
subtract it by 2. This one works for most of them but not all of them. For example, if you had a 9 by 7
then there would be 14 rebounds. The ball never lands in the corner, it was shot from. I looked at all
the pictures that I drew to figure out the formulas and noticed that the corner the ball was hit from,
never ever landed in the corner that it was hit from. Finally, if there are 0 rebounds then the ball will
land in the corner diagonal from the corner it was shot. I figured this out by looking at the rebounds
and pictures that I drew for the 0 rebounds. Those were all of the formulas and patterns that I found.
This is a one by one which has 0

Culture Shock Essay
Everyone has had a culture shock in their lifetime. Culture shock does not only occur overseas when
traveling to another country to visit or to live, but it could also be in a new state or a new city, at a new
school or workplace, among new extended family members, or being in any new environment.
According to Condon and Yousef (2017), Culture Shock is a multifaceted experience resulting from
the stress associated with entering a new culture (Condon Yousef, 2017, pg. 403). Everyone adapts in
a different way to a new life and a new beginning, and it could be hard at first before anyone can get
use to it. I will explain the circumstances surrounding the new culture and the reason for my
trip/experience, the stages of culture shock present in my experience of the new culture, how I coped
with the culture shock, and how I might cope with the culture shock in a healthier way in the future.

Savage, hunter, predator; these are all words used to define the Aboriginal People of North America
who have been depicted in advertisements that date back to the 20th century. A notable example can
be found on the cover of Thomas King s The Inconvenient Indian. The mid 1900 s poster acts as a
representation of North America during that time period. It portrays an Indian in full headdress
peeking out from behind palm fronds looking at this ocean liner cutting through the waves. King calls
this a sort of latter day Christopher Columbus moment (King, 2015). Advertisements such as this only

What Is The Theme Of Frozen River
In the movie Frozen River portrays two women struggling to get by. One of the women lives near an
Indian reservation, Ray Eddy, while the other, Lila Littlewolf, lives in the reservation. Lila has been
smuggling people over the border from Canada to the United States before, while Ray comes into
contact with Lila and is forced to transport people from Canada to the United States. It is shown that it
is not hard to transport people from both sides of the border, due to the reservation being on both sides
of the border, which is separated by the river. Thus when the river is frozen they can pass it with a car
and pass without being checked by troopers, as it is still part of the reservation. When Ray realizes
that there can be made quite some money with the smuggling, which she needs, as her husband left
her with all their money, Ray goes back to Lila and thus comes into contact with someone in a
reservation and thus with the American Indian culture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Effects Of Forced Migration On The United Nations
In Recent times, migration has become common, and the reason for migration is often access to better
education and the cleaner environment. However, some migration is not by choice. Forced migration
occurs in a less stable region due to the war or environment problem. The term forced migration refers
to those who are compelled to leave their own town or country. This essay will explain the impacts of
forced migration, particularly refugees. The definition of refugee, which is given by the united nations
(as cited in Forced Migration,2011), is someone who has been forced to leave their country in order to
escape war, conflict, or natural disaster. Focus on this definition, it means the war and the natural
disaster are problems which can make refugees. It will focus on adult mental health, human rights and
child issues.
Initially, one of the issues faced by refugees is mental health. There is a report written by Fazel, Reed,
Brick and Stein, which is published online (2011). They mentioned that the refugee who is separated
from the families are tolerated the damage both from the heart and physical part. Focusing on this
aspect, there are some graphs given in the report, which are about the basic information of refugee and
the mental health condition of them. Basic on the table, it can be found that the refugee children
cannot accommodate the social environment in the new country easily. Mental illnesses such as

The Education Process Of Elementary School Students
Knights Interactive Systems Present: Project Presented by: Nick Leyva
9/11/14
1.1 Project Summary
The goal of this project is to help advance the education process of elementary school students. A lot
of schools have adapted to the use of interactive white boards (IWBs). And while these IWBs do a
good job bringing interactivity to the classroom, our product, the KiD 35 takes interactivity to the next
level! The KiD 35 is a state of the art interactive desk that every student will be able to use during
class. The teacher of the class controls the desk s software so that the students will be focused on the
task at hand. I believe that at the young age of the students and the interactivity aspects of this desk

The transition for teachers is also made quite easily by introductory demos provided with the desks
when they are delivered. If a teacher can operate a smart phone, they will be able to use the KiD 35.
1.3 Project Analysis
We believe IWB s were a very good step in interactive education. However, they have many flaws that
the KiD 35 will approve upon.
Traditional IWB s have need the child to get out of their seat in class to interact with the board, not
every student gets the some amount of interaction with the board. (Deubel, 2010)
Many teachers using the IWB s do not change the method in which they use the board. So if the
assignments seem repetitive, students lose interest.
In our target market, many traditional IWB s are too large for elementary school students to use. [See
photo below.]
Some children are just plain shy and do not want to come in front of the class to work in front of their
classmates. (Interactive White Board, n.d.)
Here is how the KiD 35 counteracts the flaws of the IWB s:
The KiD 35 will be accessible by every child in the class; all of the students receive the same amount
of interaction time with the desks.
Teachers will have access to thousands of applications to always keep the learning environment fresh.
The KiD 35 s are specifically designed for our target demographic, which makes them much more
usable than larger IWB s.

Drug Legalization In Canada Essay
Summary
Recently there has been a lot of news surrounding the legalization of Marijuana in Canada. The
legalization is to actually take place in 2017. However, the discussion of this topic has already begun.
Many people are requesting the government to allow pardons on past possession charges. It is their
opinion that if the drug is going to be legalized sooner or later, it is justified to pardon the past
offences. The article even mentions two men whose lives are affected by the criminal record of having
minor narcotics. They both state that they are unable to travel abroad (namely to america), and have
personal issues such as landlords refusing to rent to them. It is their opinion, alongside others, that just
because of a small charge their lives do not need to be affected so much. Especially considering that
the government is going to legalize the drug anyway. The article also mentions how the previous
conservative government made it harder to receive a pardon. Due to this, many people have be unable

who are not eligible to receive a pardon. This fact, however, is decided by the parole board. I think it
would be best if the system went back to how it was before the previous government made the process
harder. That way, the people who do deserve the pardon, can receive

who has dementia. According to the Alzheimer s Society (2016), the word dementia describes a set of
symptoms that may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem solving or language.
Dementia is caused when the brain is damaged by diseases, such as Alzheimer s disease or a series of
strokes. Dementia is progressive, which means the symptoms will gradually get worse (Alzheimer s

Arguments For Vaccines
The opposition to vaccinations is a well known phenomenon that dates back to the Victorian age when
it was self limited by the awareness of the importance to be protected against fearsome infectious
diseases such as smallpox and polio. These positive effects of the vaccination campaigns have blurred
out, if not erased, the memory of the tragic consequences of the past s widespread diseases, leading
people to underestimate the severity of the harm that vaccinations prevent. Vaccines represent one of
the most important aspects of pediatric preventive care. However, parents are increasingly questioning
the safety of and need for vaccines, and as a result, vaccination rates have fallen to dangerously low
levels in certain communities.
Parents hesitant to vaccinate their children may seek exemptions from state vaccine mandates. Recent
outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases in the United States have drawn attention to this epidemic.
Vaccinations coverage may be increased by schools fully implementing State kindergarten vaccination
laws, and by providers assessing children s vaccination status at every clinic visit, and administering
missed vaccine doses. While vaccine acceptance remains high in general, fear of vaccines has grown
dramatically in many developed countries. In some communities, this fear has led to significantly
increased rates of vaccine refusal which are associated with increases in illness and death from
vaccine preventable diseases, and large economic costs

Essay about The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
Postmodern literature has its many spokesmen. Many would agree that Kazuo Ishiguro is not the most
typical representative of this somewhat anarchistic literary and social movement, but he is certainly
one of its most subtle and valuable artists. He uses the principles of post modernistic writing in a very
meaningful way, and only after a thorough analysis can one fully appreciate all carefully constructed
and presented elements trough which he successfully delivers his story. Remains of the day, as a
novel, is a unique example of how a story of a personal fate of one man can reflect on such large,
historical and social scale.
Above all other motifs, the one of history, especially personal, ... Show more content on

The intention is revealing its artificiality. An abundance of blank spaces , puns and irony serves as a
constant reminder of the fact that postmodern writers do not attempt to create an illusion of reality, but
quite the opposite. By emphasizing the actual body of a novel as a construct, they, more or less
successfully, attempt to provoke an inner dialogue, a discussion between the reader and the writer, or
the narrating character. The reality, claims the postmodern fiction, is already irreversibly compromised
and altered by the cognitive mechanisms and even more so, the language itself. In this novel, the use
of the language is to reveal the character behind it, although at the beginning it is a weapon Stevens
uses to disguise the truth. The style Stevens uses, particularly his formal tone and the choice of certain
words (bantering) excellently present his character. Often he even repeats some phrases, or sentences,
word by word. However, Ishiguro himself is rather reluctant of making the techniques he applies too
visible and obviously revealed in his writing. He states:
[F]or me, while the nature of fiction or fictionality are things that writers might need to be concerned
with to get on with their work, I don t believe that the nature of fiction is one of the burning issues of
the late twentieth century. It s not one of the things I want to turn to novels and art to find out about.
The artificiality of fiction is

Family In The Count Of Monte Cristo
In the film The Count of Monte Cristo, based on the novel of the same name by Alexander Dumas, the
idea of family serves as serious matter that is capable of dictating the allegiances and motivations for
the primary characters of the film. Furthermore, the idea of family is also depicted in the film, as a
liability for the characters and a vulnerability that others in the film exploit. Within this examples can
be seen in Villefort s action of imprisoning Edmond to protect his father, Albert s change of heart
when it is revealed that Edmond is his father, and the class discrimination that Edmond encounters
prior to his imprisonment. Edmond s imprisonment at the hands of Villefort is a defining moment of
the film and is one motivated entirely by Villefort s filial ties. During this scene, Edmond shows
evidence of a Bonapartist conspiracy through a letter given to him by Napoleon Bonaparte. Initially,
Villefort realizes Edmond s innocence, but upon inspecting the letter it is revealed to him that the its
contents incriminate his father. When this is revealed to him, Villefort burns the letter and imprisons
Edmond for life in order to silence him. Through this, it is seen that the idea of family is capable of
drastically altering the goals of characters, as Villefort immediately realizes that he must destroy ...

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Structural Family Therapy
Structural Family Therapy (SFT) is an approach used in family therapy settings. In every family there
are both strengths and weaknesses in how the family functions, this type of therapy focuses on the
ability of families to move forward any dysfunctional issues they can encounter. In every family there
has to be structure, a way of doing things, who is in charge and yet still be able to adapt to change
when it is necessary or problems begin to occur, in order to repair and alter issues of dysfunction and
reposition family boundaries, many therapists who use the structural family approach have the belief
that the problems the family is experiencing emerge in families when their boundaries (that define
structures) are not clear and when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The foundation of the structural approach is to challenge the family organization, which leads to
symptom reduction because a new structure develops in the family one with more functional
interactional patterns (Reiter, 2016). It comes down to focusing on what is the cause of the problem
and what needs to be done to resolve it. Some assumptions that are related to this theory can include
families normally related to one another in patterned ways that are observable and predictable
(Linblad Goldberg Northey, 2013), most families have rules that each must follow and roles they are
to play in the family unit, when they get off balance then dysfunction can and normally does occur. It
is important that families have boundaries which include both inside and outside of the family.
Families also have subsystems which can be based on either generation or genders. The structural
approach can also be viewed as an art form, as the therapist takes on the role of the artist and the
family can be considered his/her canvas. As an artist, they can go into the family like they were a
member, and they can move, react, challenge and probe (Lee

Cyst Reflection
As a child, I always had the mindset of being invincible, like nothing on the earth could hurt me. That
mindset carried on with me throughout my life, even regarding my health. I had always thought I was

But everyone s day has to come, right? One day my luck finally ran out. During September of 2015, I

Rotator Cuff Injury Research Paper
Millions of people across the United States suffer from either Bursitis or a rotator cuff injury every
year. Although sometimes the two can be misconceived, they are very different in all actuality. Bursitis
is the inflammation or irritation of the bursa. A bursa is a fluid filled sac used as a bumper near the
joints to reduce friction. There are many bursae located in your body, some of which being in the hip,
shoulder, wrist, and elbow. However, a rotator cuff injury only affects the shoulder area of the body.
The rotator cuff is composed of the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis, and teres minor
muscles. There is only one main way to be diagnosed with Bursitis and it happens when you overuse a
joint in sports or on the job. You can put the bursa under pressure for a long time, thus causing the
bursa to become inflamed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, scientists have found three main activities that can cause a rotator cuff tear.
Repetitive stress is when you repeat a certain action or movement constantly and cause the muscles to
tear. Sports like baseball and tennis can cause this. Another way of disruption is by a lack of blood
supply in the rotator cuff. As people age blood supply to our tendons and muscles can deplete, causing
an impairment in our body s natural repair of tendons. The final way that can cause a tear in the rotator
cuff is bone spurs. Bone spurs can develop on the underside of the acromion bone. When we lift our
arms, the spurs rub on the rotator cuff tendons. This condition is called shoulder impingement, and
over time will weaken the tendon and make it more likely to tear. The first sign of trouble with
Bursitis is pain. Along with this pain will come swelling, redness, and tenderness of the affected area.
In some cases, it will cause stiffness in the

How Did Emily Dickinson s Life Influence Her Poetry
Emily Dickinson Her Life and Poetry
Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was born December 10, 1830, into an influential family in Amherst,
Massachusetts. Her father helped found Amherst College, where Emily later attended between 1840
and 1846. She never married and died in the house where she was born on May 15, 1886.
Emily Dickinson s reclusive life was arguably a result of her proposed bi polar disorder. This life and
disorder unduly influenced the themes of her poetry. She chose not to associate herself with society
and volumes of her poems, published posthumously, examine this idea as well as the themes of nature
and death. The clearest examples of these themes are presented in the following analysis of just of few

This poem conjures images of a solemn ceremony in which the soul reigns superior by shutting out
everyone, including the emperor, similar to the shutting out of everyone that Dickinson did. In one of
Dickinson s most famous poems, I heard a Fly buzz, the theme of death is presented as well as a
symptomatic characteristic of bi polar disorder. The poem itself epitomizes her preoccupation with
death and the macabre and also shows how the small, normally ignorable sound of a fly buzzing
becomes the only thing heard, she magnifies this sound in a situation when it seems that everything
else is much more important, but this inability to drown out extraneous noises is typical of someone
suffering from manic depression. The form of this poem employs all of Dickinson s formal patterns:
trimeter and tetrameter iambic lines, her specific use of the dash to interrupt the meter of the poem,
and it is in ABCB rhyme scheme.
Two of Dickinson s universal techniques are metaphor and the fresh application of language; both
techniques result in powerful images, and can be seen in two of her poems that focus on nature
themes, A Bird came down the Walk and narrow Fellow. She closes the poem, A Bird with a stanza
equating flight through the air with movement through water,

  • 2. Designing An Automated House That Be More Energy Efficient... Project Proposal A Sunny House Michael Lawrence, Dat Le, Phillip Tran The Governor s School @ Innovation Park Senior Mentorship Dr.Psaker October 11, 2016 Acknowledgements: Dr. Psaker and the Governor s School @ Innovation Park Abstract: The primary goal of our experiment is to construct an automated house that will be more energy efficient than an average house. SmartWindows that will automatically close and adjust to conform with any outside conditions. Our primary motivation is from the huge amount of domestic power that is lost every year, which can become a large sum when converted to money. As personal victims of this unfortunate monetary loss, finding and developing a solution to this problem prompted this investigation and subsequent experiment. The experimenting process is fairly simple but will take an extended period of time through two phases: construction and experimentation. First the model house must be constructed from balsa wood blocks and held together by a combination of glue and staples. Then the windows will be constructed, with plexiglass substituting for glass Next, the actual window opening apparatus must be created in AutoDesk Inventor before being 3D printed. This apparatus will be connected to the Arduino module, which will be programmed to control the functions of the house and making sure everything runs effectively and efficiently. The windows are our primary focus and will be the most important improvement but more may be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Causes Of Video Games And Videogames Cause Violence Columbine, Connecticut and virginia all of these places burdened with tragedy. Families, loved ones, lost. Though we seemed to have suffered quite enough, nothing heals the heart of those who were related to those lost like politics. One thing besides tragedy that has related these events is oddly enough videogames. With of course the big debate, videogames cause violence. Well of course there is truth to the argument, but the question we are gonna consider is the quality of the arguments put forth. In that area they just slander or do they leave you with information to think about. One argument we hear time and time again is that videogames and videogame violence alike make the user (usually quoted as child) violent. Even a broad consensus (90% of pediatricians and 67% of parents) that video games causes violent behavior in children. to the point whereas even a causal connection for some children between media violence and aggressive behavior, this stated by american medical/psychological association stated Well over 1,000 studies including reports from the Surgeon General s office, the National Institute of Mental Health, and numerous studies conducted by leading figures within our medical and public health organizations our own members point overwhelmingly to a causal connection between media violence and aggressive behavior in some children. this assures to some of you that most would be said and done with that argument and live their life repeating the ... Due to his distinguished service record and the fact that he was a member of the Navy SEALs, the advice that he could have given to my class would be extremely valuable. With his experiences, the information passed onto us would be relatable to almost anything. So I would have been ecstatic if Admiral McRaven would have given the speech at my high school graduation. Through his speech, Admiral McRaven expressed information in many different areas. One point that he expressed was that if you want to change the world, find someone to help you paddle (7:15 7:18). • 6. Public Libraries and Technology There are myriad ways a child may develop a love of reading, however in the modern era it seems that this passion and hunger for not only knowledge but for the pure enjoyment derived from it has been all but lost. I have children of my own that are not old enough to begin to approach about this and most other children I see are too endeavored with their tablets, videogames and social media to be concerned with it. I can therefore only speak from the one common frame of reference I have and that is myself. In doing so, I will inform you of just how a child may develop a love of reading and possibly shed some light on how children may come to have a love of reading even now. I had a wonderful incentive in the form of a persistent grandmother whom would always shut the television off and put a book in my hands. I claimed that I hated the time it took having to read these boringly annoying things called words in no less an object made out of paper, but the experience began to far outweigh the reservations I had about the activity at hand. I was started off with books based on real life events. Not very interesting to a child indeed, but one aspect of children is their curiosity and desire to know more, inquiring about the hows and whys of things, the way they are, who was that and where did they come from. My own thirst for knowledge not only grew but expanded beyond the simple trappings of my grandmother s personal collection and so she decided to bring me to a public library ... While the term concerto is relatively easy to understand in context, when put into use the term becomes more complicated to define. If the dimensions can be reduced to Š¢Š then the rebound will be one. For example, an 8 by 4 has one rebound. If the dimensions have a two in it, then the other number is the number of rebounds that you have. For example, If you had a 7 by 2 there would be 7 rebounds. • 28. The Effects Of Forced Migration On The United Nations In Recent times, migration has become common, and the reason for migration is often access to better education and the cleaner environment. However, some migration is not by choice. Forced migration occurs in a less stable region due to the war or environment problem. The term forced migration refers to those who are compelled to leave their own town or country. This essay will explain the impacts of forced migration, particularly refugees. The definition of refugee, which is given by the united nations (as cited in Forced Migration,2011), is someone who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, conflict, or natural disaster. Focus on this definition, it means the war and the natural disaster are problems which can make refugees. It will focus on adult mental health, human rights and child issues. Initially, one of the issues faced by refugees is mental health. There is a report written by Fazel, Reed, Brick and Stein, which is published online (2011). They mentioned that the refugee who is separated from the families are tolerated the damage both from the heart and physical part. Focusing on this aspect, there are some graphs given in the report, which are about the basic information of refugee and the mental health condition of them. The Education Process Of Elementary School Students Knights Interactive Systems Present: Project Presented by: Nick Leyva 9/11/14 1.1 Project Summary The goal of this project is to help advance the education process of elementary school students. A lot of schools have adapted to the use of interactive white boards (IWBs). And while these IWBs do a good job bringing interactivity to the classroom, our product, the KiD 35 takes interactivity to the next level! The KiD 35 is a state of the art interactive desk that every student will be able to use during class. The transition for teachers is also made quite easily by introductory demos provided with the desks when they are delivered. If a teacher can operate a smart phone, they will be able to use the KiD 35. 1.3 Project Analysis We believe IWB s were a very good step in interactive education. However, they have many flaws that the KiD 35 will approve upon. Traditional IWB s have need the child to get out of their seat in class to interact with the board, not every student gets the some amount of interaction with the board. (Deubel, 2010) Many teachers using the IWB s do not change the method in which they use the board. So if the assignments seem repetitive, students lose interest. In our target market, many traditional IWB s are too large for elementary school students to use. [See photo below.] Some children are just plain shy and do not want to come in front of the class to work in front of their classmates. (Interactive White Board, n.d.) Here is how the KiD 35 counteracts the flaws of the IWB s: The KiD 35 will be accessible by every child in the class; all of the students receive the same amount of interaction time with the desks. Teachers will have access to thousands of applications to always keep the learning environment fresh. The KiD 35 s are specifically designed for our target demographic, which makes them much more usable than larger IWB s. • 30. Drug Legalization In Canada Essay Summary Recently there has been a lot of news surrounding the legalization of Marijuana in Canada. The legalization is to actually take place in 2017. However, the discussion of this topic has already begun. Many people are requesting the government to allow pardons on past possession charges. It is their opinion that if the drug is going to be legalized sooner or later, it is justified to pardon the past offences. The article even mentions two men whose lives are affected by the criminal record of having minor narcotics. They both state that they are unable to travel abroad (namely to america), and have personal issues such as landlords refusing to rent to them. It is their opinion, alongside others, that just because of a small charge their lives do not need to be affected so much. Especially considering that the government is going to legalize the drug anyway. The article also mentions how the previous conservative government made it harder to receive a pardon. The the people who are asking for pardons, I believe that they should be allowed to go through the pardon system and have a chance at getting one. Obviously, there will be some people who are not eligible to receive a pardon. This fact, however, is decided by the parole board. • 33. Arguments For Vaccines The opposition to vaccinations is a well known phenomenon that dates back to the Victorian age when it was self limited by the awareness of the importance to be protected against fearsome infectious diseases such as smallpox and polio. These positive effects of the vaccination campaigns have blurred out, if not erased, the memory of the tragic consequences of the past s widespread diseases, leading people to underestimate the severity of the harm that vaccinations prevent. Vaccines represent one of the most important aspects of pediatric preventive care. However, parents are increasingly questioning the safety of and need for vaccines, and as a result, vaccination rates have fallen to dangerously low levels in certain communities. Parents hesitant to vaccinate their children may seek exemptions from state vaccine mandates. Recent outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases in the United States have drawn attention to this epidemic. Vaccinations coverage may be increased by schools fully implementing State kindergarten vaccination laws, and by providers assessing children s vaccination status at every clinic visit, and administering missed vaccine doses. While vaccine acceptance remains high in general, fear of vaccines has grown dramatically in many developed countries. In some communities, this fear has led to significantly increased rates of vaccine refusal which are associated with increases in illness and death from vaccine preventable diseases, and large economic costs ... • 34. Essay about The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro Postmodern literature has its many spokesmen. Many would agree that Kazuo Ishiguro is not the most typical representative of this somewhat anarchistic literary and social movement, but he is certainly one of its most subtle and valuable artists. He uses the principles of post modernistic writing in a very meaningful way, and only after a thorough analysis can one fully appreciate all carefully constructed and presented elements trough which he successfully delivers his story. Remains of the day, as a novel, is a unique example of how a story of a personal fate of one man can reflect on such large, historical and social scale. An abundance of blank spaces , puns and irony serves as a constant reminder of the fact that postmodern writers do not attempt to create an illusion of reality, but quite the opposite. By emphasizing the actual body of a novel as a construct, they, more or less successfully, attempt to provoke an inner dialogue, a discussion between the reader and the writer, or the narrating character. The reality, claims the postmodern fiction, is already irreversibly compromised and altered by the cognitive mechanisms and even more so, the language itself. In this novel, the use of the language is to reveal the character behind it, although at the beginning it is a weapon Stevens uses to disguise the truth. The style Stevens uses, particularly his formal tone and the choice of certain words (bantering) excellently present his character. Often he even repeats some phrases, or sentences, word by word. However, Ishiguro himself is rather reluctant of making the techniques he applies too visible and obviously revealed in his writing. He states: [F]or me, while the nature of fiction or fictionality are things that writers might need to be concerned with to get on with their work, I don t believe that the nature of fiction is one of the burning issues of the late twentieth century. • 35. Family In The Count Of Monte Cristo In the film The Count of Monte Cristo, based on the novel of the same name by Alexander Dumas, the idea of family serves as serious matter that is capable of dictating the allegiances and motivations for the primary characters of the film. Furthermore, the idea of family is also depicted in the film, as a liability for the characters and a vulnerability that others in the film exploit. Within this examples can be seen in Villefort s action of imprisoning Edmond to protect his father, Albert s change of heart when it is revealed that Edmond is his father, and the class discrimination that Edmond encounters prior to his imprisonment. Edmond s imprisonment at the hands of Villefort is a defining moment of the film and is one motivated entirely by Villefort s filial ties. During this scene, Edmond shows evidence of a Bonapartist conspiracy through a letter given to him by Napoleon Bonaparte. Initially, Villefort realizes Edmond s innocence, but upon inspecting the letter it is revealed to him that the its contents incriminate his father. When this is revealed to him, Villefort burns the letter and imprisons Edmond for life in order to silence him. • 36. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Structural Family Therapy Structural Family Therapy (SFT) is an approach used in family therapy settings. In every family there are both strengths and weaknesses in how the family functions, this type of therapy focuses on the ability of families to move forward any dysfunctional issues they can encounter. In every family there has to be structure, a way of doing things, who is in charge and yet still be able to adapt to change when it is necessary or problems begin to occur, in order to repair and alter issues of dysfunction and reposition family boundaries, many therapists who use the structural family approach have the belief that the problems the family is experiencing emerge in families when their boundaries (that define structures) are not clear and when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The foundation of the structural approach is to challenge the family organization, which leads to symptom reduction because a new structure develops in the family one with more functional interactional patterns (Reiter, 2016). It comes down to focusing on what is the cause of the problem and what needs to be done to resolve it. Some assumptions that are related to this theory can include families normally related to one another in patterned ways that are observable and predictable (Linblad Goldberg Northey, 2013), most families have rules that each must follow and roles they are to play in the family unit, when they get off balance then dysfunction can and normally does occur. It is important that families have boundaries which include both inside and outside of the family. Families also have subsystems which can be based on either generation or genders. The structural approach can also be viewed as an art form, as the therapist takes on the role of the artist and the family can be considered his/her canvas. Repetitive stress is when you repeat a certain action or movement constantly and cause the muscles to tear. Sports like baseball and tennis can cause this. As people age blood supply to our tendons and muscles can deplete, causing an impairment in our body s natural repair of tendons. The final way that can cause a tear in the rotator cuff is bone spurs. Bone spurs can develop on the underside of the acromion bone. When we lift our arms, the spurs rub on the rotator cuff tendons. This condition is called shoulder impingement, and over time will weaken the tendon and make it more likely to tear. The first sign of trouble with Bursitis is pain. How Did Emily Dickinson s Life Influence Her Poetry Emily Dickinson Her Life and Poetry Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was born December 10, 1830, into an influential family in Amherst, Massachusetts. Her father helped found Amherst College, where Emily later attended between 1840 and 1846. She never married and died in the house where she was born on May 15, 1886. Emily Dickinson s reclusive life was arguably a result of her proposed bi polar disorder. This life and disorder unduly influenced the themes of her poetry. This poem conjures images of a solemn ceremony in which the soul reigns superior by shutting out everyone, including the emperor, similar to the shutting out of everyone that Dickinson did. In one of Dickinson s most famous poems, I heard a Fly buzz, the theme of death is presented as well as a symptomatic characteristic of bi polar disorder. The poem itself epitomizes her preoccupation with death and the macabre and also shows how the small, normally ignorable sound of a fly buzzing becomes the only thing heard, she magnifies this sound in a situation when it seems that everything else is much more important, but this inability to drown out extraneous noises is typical of someone suffering from manic depression. The form of this poem employs all of Dickinson s formal patterns: trimeter and tetrameter iambic lines, her specific use of the dash to interrupt the meter of the poem, and it is in ABCB rhyme scheme. Two of Dickinson s universal techniques are metaphor and the fresh application of language; both techniques result in powerful images, and can be seen in two of her poems that focus on nature themes, A Bird came down the Walk and narrow Fellow.
