This paper was presented within 16th ICSQCC in Lucknow, ındia on 28th November 2013:
Total quality (TQ) is a passion and a way of life for those organizations that live its message. The problem is how to generate the passion and the pride required to create quality in education. The significance of leadership for undertaking the transformation to TQ should not be underestimated. A key aspect of the leadership role in education is to train and empower teachers to give them the maximum opportunity to improve the learning of their students. Technology and innovative ideas are the other important tools for them.
Not only in Turkey, but in many countries “training innovative minds through quality in education and technology use” has gained importance recently. Many educators and educational leaders are trying to find out the meaning of “quality” in education through the further technological innovations. This tendency seems to be changing the educational paradigm with respect to the Internet technologies. Massive open online courses (MOOCs) are getting very popular especially in American and European universities. Through some well-known IT companies teachers are trying new ways instead of the traditional ones. Experts think that the Internet and some other innovative ideas might be significant for the national systems of education as they may become the basis for the emerging global education system.
In this paper, the author is going to share her experiences she gained during her participation to the Sixth Conference of MIT’s Learning International Networks Consortium on June 16th-19th, 2013 at MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
Teaching Mathematics with Innovative Methodsijcnes
In every society and in every age, a system of education is evolved according to its need and the temper of its times. Actually education means the development of habits, attitudes and skills which help a man to lead a full and worthwhile life. It is not just storage of information. Various teaching methods that can be adopted in colleges or higher educational institutions create a congenial learning environment in the teaching learning situations. The learner centered teaching methods are the co operative endeavors to be followed both by the teacher and students. Such approaches remove passivity, dullness, non performance of the students. Without much difficulty, the teacher can shift his teaching strategy from lecturing to the learner- centered approaches. Teachers must have accurate knowledge of the subject, ability to bring the subject matter to the level of student understanding, self confidence, ability of expression, knowledge of evolution techniques, ability in questioning and respect for students opinion. The methods like Flanders interaction analysis, verbal interaction category system, reciprocal category system and equivalent talk category system may be employed for better teaching
Planning Digital Learning for K-12 ClassroomMagic Software
Digital learning for K-12 is effective as it aims at meeting learning objectives and the learning skills are designed around skills such as cognitive skills, interpersonal skills and psychomotor skills. The following presentation will help you understand the learning objectives and instructional methods of e-learning programs in more details.
This presentation shows that it is easier to facilitate learning when students are attracted and influence to do creativity in their reports or presentations. They would love to make assignments and create projects for they know with the use of the educational technology; there is variety, originality, and limited options to use.
Today students are expected not only to be mentally excellent, but also flexible, analytically and creative.

2. INTRODUCTION
Teaching of mathematics is not only concerned with the computational knowledge of the subject
but is also concerned with the selection of the mathematical content and communication
leading to its understanding and application.
The teaching and learning of mathematics is a complex activity and many factors determine the
success of this activity.
The nature and quality of instructional material, the presentation of content, the pedagogic skills
of the teacher, the learning environment, the motivation of the students are all important and
must be kept in view in any effort to ensure quality in teaching-learning of mathematics
education.
3. AIMS OF TEACHING MATHEMATICS
Education is imparted for achieving certain ends and goals. The
main goals of teaching mathematics are as below:
To develop the mathematical skills like speed, accuracy,
neatness, brevity, estimation, etc.
To develop logical thinking, reasoning power, analytical
thinking and critical-thinking.
To develop power of decision-making.
To develop the technique of problem solving.
To develop scientific attitude i.e. to estimate, find and verify
results.
To develop heuristic attitude and to discover solutions and
proofs with the own independent efforts.
4. NEED FOR INNOVATIONS IN
MATHEMATICS EDUCATION
The teaching of Mathematics emphasis should be more
on the understanding of basic principles than on the
mechanical teaching of mathematical computations.
Programs in teacher education and professional
development must continually update teachers’
knowledge of technology and its application to support
learning. The teachers should include the development
of mathematics lessons that take advantage of
technology-rich environments and the integration of
digital tools in daily instruction, instilling an appreciation
for the power of technology and its potential impact on
students’ understanding and use of mathematics.
5. INNOVATIVE PRACTICES AND MODERN
METHODS IN TEACHING AND LEARNING
MATHEMATICS
INNOVATIVE TOOLS
Multimedia Learning Process
Using multimedia technology as an innovative teaching and
learning strategy in a problem-based learning environment by
giving the students a multimedia project to train them in this
skill set.
Mind Map
Mind maps helping students make notes that used only key
words and images, but mind map can be used by teachers
to explain mathematical concepts in an innovative way.
6. SMART CLASSROOMS
Smart Classrooms are
technology enhanced
classrooms that foster
opportunities for teaching
and learning by integrating
learning technology, such
as computers, specialized
software, audience
response technology,
assistive listening devices,
networking, and
audio/visual capabilities.
8. Virtual Classrooms
A virtual classroom is
a teaching and
learning environment
where participants can
interact,
communicate, view
and discuss
presentations, and
engage with learning
resources while
working in groups, all
in an online setting.
9. BLENDED LEARNING
Blended learning is a term
increasingly used to
describe the way e-
learning is being
combined with
traditional classroom
methods and
independent study to
create a new, hybrid
teaching methodology.
10. MOBILE LEARNING
M-learning or mobile
learning is defined as
"learning across multiple
contexts, through social
and content interactions,
using personal electronic
devices.
M-learning technologies
include handheld
computers, MP3 players,
notebooks, mobile
phones and tablets.
11. MASTERY LEARNING STRATEGY
B.S. Bloom has developed Mastery Learning Strategy. This
strategy plays an important role for learning of basics and
fundamentals the mastery level and diagnose the learning
difficulties, remedial instructions are given to remove the
difficulties and attain mastery level by every student. e.g.
operations in different number systems – Natural numbers,
Integers, Rational numbers, Real numbers.
12. METHODS/PRACTICES
Methods/Practices are a style of the presentation of content in
classroom. The following some innovative methods that used to
make teaching-learning process of Mathematics effective.
• Inductive-Deductive Method
• Analytic-Synthetic Method
• Problem-Solving Method
• Play-Way Method
• Laboratory Method
13. • Inductive-Deductive Method
Inductive method is to move from specific examples
to generalization and deductive method is to
move from generalization to specific examples.
This method helps students for better
understanding of Mathematical concepts.
• Analytic-Synthetic Method
Analytic is breaking down and moving from
unknown to known and Synthetic is putting
together known bits of information and moving
from known to unknown. These methods are
basically used in proving the results and solving
sums.
14. • Problem-Solving Method
This method aims at presenting the knowledge to be learnt in
the form of a problem. It begins with a problematic situation
and consists of continuous meaningful well-integrated activity.
• Play-Way Method
This way helps to develop interest in mathematics, motivates
them to learn more and reduces the abstract nature of the
subject to some extent inherently. Example: Mathematical
games and puzzles.
• Laboratory Method
Practice the teaching in class through the way of “learning by
doing” and “learning by observation” and proceeding from
“concrete to abstract”. This way leads them to discover
mathematical facts. After discovering something by their own
efforts, they start taking pride in his achievement; it gives
them in return happiness, mental satisfaction and encourages
them towards further achievements.
15. Nowadays there is democratization of knowledge and the
role of the teacher is changing to that of facilitator. We
need to have interactive teaching and this changing role
of education is inevitable with the introduction of
multimedia technology and the spawning of a
technologically-save generation of youths.
