DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
REGION I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OFFICE I PANGASINAN
Lingayen, Pangasinan
Objective 1: Applied
knowledge of content within
and across curriculum
teaching areas. (PPST 1.1.2)
The teacher applies accurate, in-
depth, and broad knowledge of
content and pedagogy that creates
a conducive learning environment
that enables an in-depth and
sophisticated understanding of the
teaching and learning process to
meet individual or group learning
needs within and across
curriculum teaching areas.
FEATURES OF PRACTICES
1. The teacher applies extensive knowledge of
content beyond his/her area of
specialization.
2. The teacher motivates learners to investigate
the teaching area to expand their knowledge
and satisfy their curiosity.
3. The teacher cites intra and interdisciplinary
content relationships.
4. The teacher shows expertise in the content
and uses appropriate pedagogy in delivering
the lesson.
Used a range of teaching strategies that
enhance learner achievement in literacy
and numeracy skills.
(PPST 1.4.2)
THIS MEANS USING VARIOUS APPROACHES TO HELP STUDENTS
IMPROVE THEIR ABILITIES IN READING, WRITING, AND
MATHEMATICS. HERE'S AN EXPLANATION:
• Differentiated Instruction: Tailoring your teaching
methods to accommodate different learning styles and
abilities within the classroom. This ensures that each
student gets the support they need to excel in literacy
and numeracy.
• Explicit Instruction: Providing clear, step-by-step
explanations and demonstrations to help students
understand fundamental concepts in literacy (e.g.,
phonics, grammar) and numeracy (e.g., basic math
operations).
• Scaffolding: Gradually increasing the complexity of
tasks and providing support as students become more
proficient in literacy and numeracy. This helps them
• Small Group or One-on-One Instruction:
Offering individualized attention to students who
require additional help or enrichment in either literacy
or numeracy, depending on their needs.
• Use of Manipulatives: Employing physical objects
or tools (e.g., counters, flashcards) to make abstract
concepts in numeracy more tangible and
understandable.
• Technology Integration: Utilizing educational apps,
software, or online resources that cater to literacy and
numeracy skills, making learning more interactive and
engaging.
• Real-World Applications: Demonstrating how
literacy and numeracy skills are relevant in everyday
life
Applied a range of teaching strategies to
develop critical and creative thinking, as
well as other higher-order thinking skills.
(PPST 1.5.2)
This means you've employed various methods
and approaches to foster advanced cognitive
abilities in your students. Here's a breakdown:
• Diverse Instructional Methods: You've used a
mix of teaching techniques, such as lectures,
group discussions, hands-on activities, and
multimedia presentations. This diversity keeps
students engaged and challenges them to
think in different ways.
• Problem-Based Learning: You've presented
real-world problems or scenarios that require
students to analyze, synthesize, and propose
solutions. This encourages critical thinking
and the application of knowledge.
• Socratic Questioning: You've asked open-
ended questions that prompt students to think
deeply, explore concepts from various angles,
and defend their ideas logically.
• Collaborative Learning: Group projects,
debates, or peer teaching were integrated into
your teaching approach, encouraging students
to exchange ideas, challenge each other's
perspectives, and learn from their peers.
• Encouraging Creativity: You've given students
opportunities for creative expression, whether
through art, writing, or innovative problem-
solving exercises. This nurtures their creative
thinking abilities.
• Reflective Practices: You've encouraged students to
reflect on their learning experiences, fostering
metacognition and self-awareness. This helps them
develop higher-order thinking skills by assessing their
own thinking processes.
• Inquiry-Based Learning: You've structured lessons
around student-driven inquiries, where they
investigate topics of interest and develop their own
questions. This promotes curiosity and independent
thinking.
• Critical Analysis of Information: Teaching students to
evaluate sources critically, discern bias, and analyze
data helps them become more discerning thinkers.
• Use of Technology: Leveraging educational technology
and online resources can enhance learning
opportunities and expose students to a wider range of
• Feedback and Assessment: Providing constructive
feedback on assignments and assessments helps
students refine their thinking skills over time.
In summary, your approach involves a well-rounded mix
of teaching methods and strategies aimed at nurturing
critical thinking, creative thinking, and other higher-
order cognitive skills. This approach empowers
students to become independent, analytical, and
innovative thinkers, preparing them for success in
various aspects of life.
