corticosteroids, chemotherapy or tumour necrosis factor blockers (used to treat some types of arthritis)
* Immunosuppressive therapy being very young or very old the immune systems of people who are
young or elderly tend to be weaker than those of healthy adults.
* Malnutrion (Low body weight 10% or more below average) Tuberculosis is closely linked to both
overcrowding and malnutrition, making it one of the principal diseases of poverty. Those at high risk
thus include: people who inject illicit drugs, inhabitants and employees of locales where vulnerable
people gather (e.g. prisons and homeless shelters), medically underprivileged and resource poor
communities, high risk ethnic minorities, children in close contact with high risk category patients,
and health care providers serving these patients. Malnutrition with a poor health or having a poor diet

The Chrysanthemums Symbolism
How can a flower simply represent the personality of a person? Chrysanthemum comes from the
Greek prefix of chrys meaning golden and anthemion meaning flower. John Steinbeck s short story
discusses the life of Elisa Allen, an advocate for gardening with an internal want for a more fulfilling
life. The chrysanthemum is an ironic flower to use in this story because the chrysanthemum is a
symbol of optimism and joy, which is lacking in Elisa s life. Steinbeck brings the theme of gender
inequality to the surface by using the symbols of the chrysanthemums and the Salinas Valley as
representations of different feelings and emotions in Elisa s life. In John Steinbeck s The
Chrysanthemums , the chrysanthemums themselves represent Elisa and ... Show more content on

The chrysanthemums symbolize Elisa s life and how society has forbidden her to be anything other
than a housewife or something within the boundaries of her home. When Elisa offers the Tinker her
chrysanthemums, she was also offering herself because she saw herself as one with her flowers. When
the tinker tosses her flowers on the road this mimics the way he rejects her and the way society has
rejected women. The flowers, just like women, are seen as merely decorations, not something that can
be daring. The chrysanthemums like women are golden, but golden only in regards to looks, nothing
more. When Elisa tells the Tinker she can fix pots and would love to live the life that he had, he says It
ain t the right kind of a life for a woman. Women are supposed to be housewives and mothers. Even
though Elisa wants a more thrilling life, she follows in the footsteps of a traditional housewife. She
laid out her husband s clothes and ran his bath water because she knows that is her place, even if she
disagrees with it. The Salinas tie themselves to the theme because they limit the potential of Elisa s
life just as society does. The valley keeps Elisa within the confinement of her quaint life. The two men
in Steinbeck s story, Henry and the Tinker, do not notice the intelligence, beauty, and potential that
Elisa has just as society does not see it either. Steinbeck uses

Anchor Club Reflection
For the past four years, I have played a significant role in the Putnam County High School Anchor
Club. Though the club was small and a little disorganized my freshman year, it has grown to become a
prominent part of my life and a major key to my success. In these four years, the Anchor Club has
helped me grow to become the leader I am today. I now serve as the President of our Anchor Club. I
believe my leadership has helped the club reach its full potential for success. Each year, our club
participates in annual events sponsored by our Pilot and/or Anchor Clubs. For example, every
Halloween, a canned food drive event is held, sponsored by the Anchors. Our club members, in
collaboration with Putnam Christian Outreach, play a major role in the success of the annual food
drive. I also participate in numerous other annual events, such as Project Linus, the Dairy Festival,
anti bullying week, a shopping spree at the nursing home, and Christmas events for our district s
special education program. I have also played a key role in multiple fundraising events, particularly
the Ferst Foundation community yard sale, but also in planning and executing bake sales, dress down
days, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Helping Hands for the Hungry and Homeless. I have also been the founder of wildly successful annual

Mr Bull Observation
A few weeks after my catch at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, I decided that I wanted a
Charolais. I shared this with my Ag teacher Mr. Hill and my donor Mr. Ligon. Most of the month of
April was spent waiting for Mr. Hill to find a steer in my price range. During the waiting period I
spent a lot of time educating myself on steer selection, feeding, halter breaking and grooming. Since I
have never been around steer before, I left the selection up to Mr. Hill. Mr. Hill is an expert in
determining the structural correctness, definition, balance, set of hock, and frame size. The first order
of business was setting up the pin by disinfecting the floor, laying cedar bedding, purchasing feed and
water buckets, and hanging a hay stack. With all this done, the pin was ready for my new project. On
Monday April 24th, Mr. Hill asked me to meet him at the barn to look at three steer he purchased and
decide which one I wanted. As soon as I walked into the barn I knew which one I desired, it was the
one and only Charolais in the group! Mr. Hill warned me that the ... Show more content on

and brush his coat. On day four, I had a mentor help me walk him to the wash rack to give him a bath.
The steer tried to break free on the way to the wash rack but I managed to control him. An hour was
spent on grooming him and when I was finished he walked willingly back to his pin. By the end of the
first week with Blue he was eating apple slices out of my hand and standing still while I groomed him.

Air India Failure
Strategy
Air India failed to collaborate with other Global major airline players while on the other hand major
airlines were collaborating with foreign players to expand increase their reach. Air India being a state
owned airlines lacked time punctuality. Its flights were poorly scheduled and also the routes on which
the airline operated was not profitable.
Skill
Air India was unable to match the performance of other airlines and faced severe criticism for its
inefficiency and excessive expenditure human resources. The industry owned the planes which
increased its operating cost while on the other hand airlines such as Indigo followed lease and payback
model and were in profits.

Main reasons being huge fixed costs, high fuel costs and tough competition. Apart from these factors
the downfall of Air India has been characterized to following major reasons:
Unhappy merger of Indian Airlines and Air India
Government of India went through with this merger with the hopes of a successful airline. But till date
it has come out to be a failure. When any two organizations merge, they should have a harmony and
sync in their culture and ways of working which in this case hasn t been achieved.
Human resources department remains a non standard department, leading to inequality in pay scales,
allowances and career progression. This has lead to unrest and dissatisfaction among employees.
There are two unions representing the pilots from both the erstwhile companies and these unions have
been at loggerheads for a long time. As the pilots from Air India flew international flights and pilots
from Indian Airlines flew domestic flights, the compensation given to these pilots varied a lot which
gave rise to this unrest.

Venus Craters
Venus, named after the Roman goddess of beauty and love, is the brightest planet in the solar system.
The surface of Venus cannot be seen with an ordinary telescope, as it is covered with water vapor and
clouds of sulfuric acid. Although Mercury is closer to the sun, Venus is the hottest planet in the solar
system at a whopping 460 degrees Celsius on average. The radiation of the sun heats the surface, but
the heat cannot escape due to the carbon dioxide and methane filled atmosphere, which produces the
greenhouse effect. Sadly, there could never be life on Venus due to this blistering heat (exterior).
Although there is no life, Venus has a plethora of mountains, continents, and craters. The craters imply
that the surface of Venus is between three hundred and five hundred million years old. Impact craters
have several classifications. To determine the impact origin for a crater, scientists look for a circular
rim outlife, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this documentation, it is now well known that Venus is most like the planet in which life
exists on called Earth. The Magellan mission assisted in providing understanding toward the impact of
volcanoes and tectonism on Venus s surface. Most of Venus s surface is covered by volcanic debris.
The small number of craters documented by the Magellan missions indicates that Venus is comparably
young. Venus is thought to be less than eight hundred million years old. Although Venus has signs of
plate tectonics, they are very different from the plate tectonics on Earth. The plate tectonics on Earth
are typically signs of continental drifts and spreading of the basin floor. These are not apparent on
Venus. However, this planet shows other signs of tectonics such as zones of global rifts and a plethora
of wide and deep dome shaped formation named coronae. These coronae were produced by the
eruption of magma from the mantle (magellan

King Lear And Hamlet Essay
The concept of madness and those who suffer from its hold is something that is apparent in both
Shakespeare s Hamlet and King Lear, both plays treat madness in similar ways it is often not
understood by the characters, it is often feminized and there are characters who choose to assume
madness for their own specific reasons. Another similarity is that both plays have two central
characters that suffer from madness, each has one character whose madness is real and each has a
character whose madness is faked. It is said the mad characters in these plays are given a type of
freedom to do and say what they please and are able to speak a certain kind of truth that would not be
acceptable in their typically sane society. Though that statement ... Show more content on

Though Edgar is faking his madness it is for good reason due to the lies of his brother Edmund, Edgar
must evade his father s knights who are after him and he has lost his status and must right the wrongs
that have been committed against him. Edgar s presence on the beach strongly influences the madness
of King Lear, they play off each other s madness and both find a freedom in their mad speeches. What
do all of these four characters have in common? Their madness can be seen as a kind of freedom from
whatever constraints society may have placed on them or it is a freedom to get information without
any of questioning their motives. The main difference of these characters each of their madness is
influenced by something else. The characters who assume roles of madness do so for their own
reasons one must avenge their father s death while another must clear his name. The characters who
are truly mad are finally able to do and say as they please, even though it may not end

The Great Commission To Worship
Introduction Evangelism could be described briefly as proclaiming God s heart to the people who
lived without standards of truth. Evangelism with the heart of God is being based upon worshipping
God and glorifying God as well. Worshipping God is means to rejoice in God and to reveal Jesus in
one s life.1 Authors David Wheeler and Vernon M. Whaley in The Great Commission to God book
have emphasized the importance of Worship to the reader in order for Christian to become a great
commission worshipper. Authors have asserted that the top points in the book are worship and
evangelism. These are a matter of cardinal importance to Believers who desire to live God s will and

through chapter 8 which mentioned the missional life, worshipping life, and evangelical life of

Daniel. This book has Discussion Questions at the end of each chapter for discussing with each other.
This is a great benefit for the learner. Through these questions, I had a meditation time for living the
better life that God wants. I was not only able to fix my evil habit and pattern, but I was able to widen
the width of deep thought. In my opinion, it will be informative and very entertaining to share with
each other in class or small group meeting regarding Discussion Questions . The Teaching of mission
chapter in this book was a great impressive chapter for me. The authors referred to John piper, who
mentioned mission which is ultimate goal of the church.7 The ultimate goal of the church is to glorify
God and to worship God and then making disciples and sending disciples to the place where there is
no worship. Actually I want to be a missionary to go to unreached group for worshiping God because
God loves them. I will be keeping mind to continue in this teaching. Conclusion I desire to be a great

John Winthrop s The Puritan
In the Puritan religion, one cannot love anything more than one loves God. In the case of John
Winthrop, this edict became an issue. He did not want to abandon the Church of England as the
separatists did, a decision which eventually led to the pilgrims starting their own new church.
Winthrop wanted to purify the church; however, the government in England made this particularly
hard and eventually this is what led to Winthrop leaving England for the New World to solve the
Puritan Dilemma. The Puritan Dilemma was a figurative battle between the Church of England and
the Puritan religion. It was also a real threat with opposing religions that would come and threaten the
Puritans way of life. John Winthrop recognized these problems and sought to remedy them.
In the early 1600 s, John Winthrop grew up in a very wealthy family. He attended college at 15 and at
17 he was married. Winthrop loved his wife very much but at times he thought maybe too much (he
remarried 3 times because his first 2 wives passed away). As a Puritan, Winthrop dedicated his life to
God, but as he got older, England s government made it harder and harder to be a Puritan, due to the
fact that the king said outright he hated Puritans. Winthrop went on to study law and eventually
became a common attorney in the court of wards; though Winthrop was happy to get this job, it kept
him away from his family. After a short while in this position, Winthrop began to feel less and less
important, as Puritans were the

The Treatment of Women in Trifles
The Treatment of Women in Trifles Trifles, a one act play written by Susan Glaspell, is a cleverly
written story about a murder and more importantly, it effectively describes the treatment of women
during the early 1900s. In the opening scene, we learn a great deal of information about the people of
the play and of their opinions. We know that there are five main characters, three men and two
women. The weather outside is frighteningly cold, and yet the men enter the warm farmhouse first.
The women stand together away from the men, which immediately puts the men against the women.

time. These women, aware of the powerless slot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Determining Genetic Disorders with Blood Tests
Genetic testing is when tests are done on the blood and other tissue to find genetic disorders in an
individual. It is used as a healthcare tool to detect gene variants associated to a certain disease or
disorder, and is used non clinically for paternity testing and forensics. There are many different
methods of testing, usually done with a blood sample. Other methods include diagnostic testing,
carrier testing, prenatal testing, pre implantation genetic testing, newborn screening, pharmacogentic
testing, and a few others. DNA has about 12 million single nucleotide polymorphisms and thousands
of copy number variants, most of which are not harmful. Sometimes these mutations in genes can
cause genetic disorders that end up altering or inhibiting protein function. Gene Therapy focuses on
correcting the mutated genes usually by inserting a normal gene into the genome. Researchers treat
these diseases this way by repairing dysfunctional gene or by providing copies of the missing gene.
They isolate the normal DNA and package it into a vector. Other ways include replacing the abnormal
gene with a normal one, repair the mutated gene, or altering the regulation of a certain gene. As of
right now, reparative results have been marginal, there is potential of gene therapy treating single gene
disorders.
When used in healthcare, genetic testing can show the genetic cause of a disease, confirm a suspected
diagnosis of an illness, predict future illnesses, and predict responses to

Let Me Not To The Marriage Of True Minds
Study the first 12 lines of the poem. Discuss how Shakespeare makes a statement in the first and
second lines, and then use lines 2 12 to give examples which supports his viewpoints.
In the first two lines of the poem Shakespeare writes,
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments: love is not love
The first line shows that he thinks you should not marry unless you are faithful. He says let me not
which means that he does not approve of the untrue or unfaithful minds marrying. The second line
means that there will be obstacles in your way and you must be willing to face or overcome them.
Otherwise love is not love , or you will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This continues Shakespeare s idea of being faithful and then continues to think about the other person.
He uses the word remover as the one who falls out of love which emphasises the fact that it is their
fault and they are the ones being unfaithful. This could also be used as an example of one of the
obstacles, which Shakespeare explains exists in the second line.
In the next two lines Shakespeare explores love being there forever.
O no, it is an ever fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken
Here he starts to use metaphors to explain his viewpoints on love. In the first of the two lines he uses
the word mark which means buoy to show that the feeling of love does not change or move. He then
says that love faces tempests or storms and is still never shaken. These lines are a contrast to the last
two as they now show love never changing. The next lines show how faithful you can be and that true
love will always come through.
It is the star to every wand ring bark
Whose worth s unknown, although his height can be taken
A metaphor is used here, love is the star to a wandering ship. It guides you and gives you direction.
Also it means that you always follow it or always go back to your true love and also gives the idea of
life and love being a voyage or journey. The second line means that love has no worth, it is priceless
although it can be measured. This continues to expand Shakespeare s ideas on

Open ended loans
Open ended loans are loans that you can borrow over and over. Credit cards and lines of credit are the
most common types of open ended loans. With both of these loans, you have a credit limit that you
can purchase against. Each time you make a purchase, your available credit decreases. As you make
payments, your available increases allowing you to use the same credit over and over.
Close ended loans
Closed ended loans cannot be borrowed once they ve been repaid. As you make payments on closed
ended loans, the balance of the loan goes down. However, you don t have any available credit you can
use on closed ended loans. Instead, if you need to borrow more money, you d have to apply for
another loan. Common types of closed ended loans include mortgage loans, auto loans, and student

The Re-birth, Revolt, and Removal of the Cherokee Essay
The Re birth, Revolt, and Removal of the Cherokee
The Cherokee were forced into giving up most of their land in the eighteenth century. Through
fraudulent treaties and unjust deals the Cherokee lost close to all of their land during this time. One of
the biggest loses coming from Henderson s Purchase , in Kentucky, 1775. In an effort to stop the

and began competing with American traders, instead of having to rely on their goods to survive. Their

this renascence, that affected Indian education, was the emergence of mixed blood Indians. The mixed

They adopted many European customs while outlining American way of life, such as, a representative

Marie Antoinette, Queen of France from 1770 to 1797 was despised by the people of France. Their
hatred of her and the monarchy in general led to the French Revolution. Many issues led to the
unpopularity of Queen Maria Antoinette, her vanity, her disregard for the people, but perhaps the most
significant was the Affair of the Diamond Necklace. In 1785, the court jewelers, Bohmer and Basange,
constructed a necklace with five hundred and forty diamonds of varying sizes in an ugly arrangement
that resembled the collars worn by circus animals. They hoped that King Louis XV would purchase it

power in court would diminish greatly, he wrote many letters to her but to no avail. She still refused to
honor him with the slightest sign of recognition (86).
His desire for recognition led to his involvement with an adventuress and swindler by the name of
Countess de la Motte Valois (Affair). Countess Jeanne la Motte Valois came from a very strange
background. She was a direct descendant of King Henry II of France but generations of bad marriages
had reduced the family to poverty. She married an officer of the gendarmes and the couple assumed
the titles of Count and Countess (Komroff 87).

The Status And Perception Of Women
Literature Review Draft 2
For centuries, the status and perception of women has been a disputed and controversial subject. Due
to precarious political or social standings, even women in power were subject to the judgement and
power of men. When considering the portrayal of exceptional women throughout history, rarely has a
woman been able to fully embrace the stage without reservations. An analysis of research texts and
journal articles reveals and connects the way that a queen of ancient times and one of the English
Renaissance controlled their image, were affected by societal views of women, and were ultimately
depicted. Scholarship on Cleopatra and Queen Elizabeth I relays the idea that society and patriarchy
led to their respective authorities and depictions. Mary Hamer, author of Signs of Cleopatra, a
historical research text, investigates Cleopatra s cultural significance from her earliest representations
in her own time to her status as a symbol in modern times. In the chapter, Cleopatra: housewife, she
discusses Cleopatra s image between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries, a time that spans the
invention of the printing press and the proliferance of Elizabethan playwright, William Shakespeare.
Hamer uses the work of Petrarch, Boccaccio, and Jan de Bray, which was spread rapidly due to the
printing press, as a lens to view Cleopatra s image. In regards to this image, she notes the changing
attitude towards women, a result of the Reformation creating an

Managed Care System
The U.S has many payer systems which many believe it to be its downfall among other countries. This
may be because many view it more as an economic business and not an overall wellness plan. The
United States main public program of funding is Medicare, which once followed a standard form of
payment. It is now envisioned as a futuristic model that encompasses the payments of providers.
Medicare is a national social insurance program that is run by the government since 1966. Also unlike
Great Britain system, the program provides health care to Americans over 65 years of age for those
who have paid their work dues in the system. Medicare has also extended its reach to those Americans
who may be veterans or disabled. Another huge form of payment to providers is through Managed
care which can be beneficial to physicians in the fee for service and capitation aspect. While this form
of payment is similar to Great Britain s programs, their execution of it remains vastly different.
Managed Care is a type of healthcare system with health care plans that has restrictions on its
selection of facilities and health care providers at a reduced cost for the patient. Rather than come to a
conclusion about better ways to negotiate with payers, U.S providers continue to rage war against ...

But ultimately, its intent was to make up for the lack of a health care system for the low or
underinsured Americans. This federal health care reform (signed into law in 2010) is a clear attempt in
trying to balance out the unusually large numbers of the un or underinsured Americans. If everything
goes according to its predicted success by 2019, it will extend health insurance coverage to 32 million
uninsured people. Alike Great Britain, the ACA tries to make its overarching emphasis on preventions

Problem-Solving Courts are Helping to Reform the Justice...
I believe that one of the best reforms to our justice system is the growing number of Problem Solving
Courts. Problem Solving Courts are specialized courts that focus on specific problems in society, such
as drug abuse, prostitution, mental health, domestic violence, etc (Courts). I have chosen drug courts
more specifically to research. According to drugpolicy.org, in 2012 1.55 million people were arrested
for non violent drug charges (Drug Policy Alliance). This is an astounding amount of people being
arrested, which is why I believe it is important to have problem solving courts. Unlike traditional
courts, these specialized courts address the issues that individuals have that cause them to commit
crimes in order to reduce the chances of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Possibly one of the largest obstacles in creating problem solving courts is economical/political issues.
With our nation in a recession many states are seeing budget cuts. The National Center for State
Courts stated that as of 2011, a large number of state and local courts had experienced budget cuts of
15 to 20 percent since 2009 (Griller, 2011). The article also stated that despite the fact that these courts
are cost effective in the long run, hard dollar cost per case figures are beginning to trump soft dollar
crime reduction benefits (Griller, 2011). One idea to help problem solving courts make it through
budget cuts is to have the court provide date periodically that shows evidence of rehabilitation,
declining jail costs, and how this system is improving neighborhoods. The Seattle Municipal Court
has done just this, and has managed to maintain funding to their problem solving courts while there
have been budget cuts to the city government, as well as judicial position reductions (Griller, 2011).
Currently, drug courts have been proven to be successful at reducing recidivism of offenders. In the
United States there are about 120,000 people receiving help in order to rehabilitate them and to try to
reduce the chances of recidivism (Office of National Drug Control Policy, 2011). These programs
require individuals to participate in the programs for a minimum of one year. During this year the
individuals are required to appear in court and be drug tested at

organization and how managers can utilize the supply chain. It is important that companies such as
Target Corporations utilize the supply chain and gain competitive advantages. Target is one of the
world s largest retail stores; the first Target was opened in 1962 in Roseville, Minnesota (Target.com).

and the research and development department will make sure the products are appealing to the
consumers whether it is through e mail, commercials, magazine advertisements and other sources. The
advertising should help consumers see why shopping at Target is good choice over the competitions
(Riley, 2012). * Customer service this step is the crucial step because this would determine if
consumers return to the store. The employees should be nice, helpful and willing to help the
consumers (Riley, 2012).
Customer needs and wants:
Target products are appealing to the consumers because they look expensive but the products are very
affordable. It is important for an organization to specify the products and services based on what the
customers needs and wants are. This would help Target gain a competitive advantage over other
retailers. The majority of Target s customers are women and teenagers. So, the stores have bright and
appealing items that would make the customers purchase the materials. Target offer clothing and even
power tools catered to women.
Some of the problems that could affect customers needs and wants are the economy,

Differences Between Christianity And Christianity
Today in our modernized world, religions can be found almost anywhere. Religions like Buddhism,
Taoism, Hinduism, or Islam constantly shape our world by inspiring many people every day from
every walk of life to follow and pursue the never ending spiritual path to righteousness and salvation.
Despite these big foreign religions, there is another type of religion which branches into several
smaller versions which attracts much of the American public. This religion is called Christianity and
within Christianity is several smaller branches like, Methodism, Baptism, or Episcopalian but; two of
the biggest branches of this complex religion are Catholicism and Protestantism. If one were to closely
examine these two faiths then they will find that they both have the same objective which is to lead
more people to God. However, there are many differences between these two multifarious faiths.
Differences between these two faiths include differences in their origins, how these two faiths came
into existence. There are also smaller differences that exist, for example the use of holy water,
celibacy and nuns, the use of communion, belief in purgatory, and use of scriptures. Despite these
smaller differences one can clearly see the two of the major differences that truly make these two
faiths completely differential. Two of the major differences that exist between these two faiths are the
belief of how one will acquire salvation and what the afterlife will be like.

Family Loyalty In Montana 1948 By Larry Watson
Montana 1948 by Larry Watson displays family loyalty. Throughout the story the conflict of doing the
right thing versus loyalty was bestowed upon the characters. David and Wesley and Gail had a real big
problem on their hands, it was allegations that his uncle, Frank was molesting his female patients but
Wesley tried his best not to believe it and gave his brother the benefit of the doubt but in the back of
his mind he knew he was doing it. Wesley was the town s sheriff so it was his duty to get to the bottom
of what was going on. Wesley thought if he could have a real genuine talk with his brother he would
stop what had been doing. Frank admitted to what had happened and agreed to stop. These two shared
a real moment together and hugged. Frank s arms were spread wide, beseechingly, yet his movement
was so quick it seemed threatening (77). The next day Marie was found dead and Wesley was in shock
and didn t expect that his brother did it until David told his father that he seen his uncle leaving Marie
s house and Wesley knew after having that talk that Frank did it. He had long stopped being my father.

Examples Of Pre-Modern World War Strategies
Pre modern World War Strategies
As human beings stepped into a new phase of civilizations, many wars have occurred between
different people, and the wars were not surely out of violence. The sources that we have used so far
for this course are all about the wars in pre modern world. According to Sun Tzu, supreme excellence
is an important thing in the battles because it can be helpful to break down the enemies without
fighting (Part III, 2), by which he means to fight skillfully rather than military campaigns. Hence, in
this paper, I will be going through the theme of strategy in different sources, and I will analyze and
explain some different strategies that were mentioned in the sources. Some strategies were meant to
avoid the wars, and some were to prepare and operate wars. They were building cities in suitable
positions, staying away from powerful cities wars, and keeping peace with those who were powerful,
choosing suitable people for soldiers and generals, and manipulating the ... Show more content on

him somehow unreliable because he was a poet, so some people would think that he could be
exaggerating the events that happened at his time. However, we could depend on him for our purpose
of finding out how tricking tactics affected the wars. He has said in the text that in a war Sun Pin
tricked P ang Chuan by showing 100,000 fires on the first night, 50,000 on the next, and the night
after only 20,000 meant to him that their number has decreased significantly. After that, he has showed
him a strong body of archers in ambush , and when he got there, they shot P ang Chuan arrows and
killed him. This was a good example of tricking the enemies in order to damage them and their

The Concept of Peace
For Muslims peace is not a single dimensional or specific idea. Peace is to be at rest with one s own
wants and desires and to have peace with the world around them. There is a mutual relationship
between this inner peace and the peace with the wider world. Muslim s believe that you cannot be at
peace with yourself until you are also at peace with others. It will also not be possible to live at peace
with others until there is a sense of peace with yourself.
In Islam the concept of peace is two fold. Individuals must firstly be at peace with Allah and secondly,
be at peace with themselves and the rest of the world. In Islam the concept of peace is closely
connected to the idea of submission. Islam has particularly effective methods for ... Show more

Obedience to the Five Pillars helps to ensure that the individual adherent finds inner peace.
The Islamic concepts of Taqwa, Qadr and Sabr hold more immediate benefits. For Muslims everyday
is a struggle, or jihad, to pursue submission and to see that the Five Pillars are correctly observed. This
on going struggle helps ensure Muhammad s command to be conscious of Allah in your heart (Taqwa)
is always fulfilled. The greater the level of Taqwa in an adherent s heart, the closer they are to God
and peace. The more Taqwa an adherent has the easier it will be for them to submit to the notion of
Qadr, the concept of God s measurement of how we respond to the changes of life. Adherents are
expected to trust Allah with peace and acceptance no matter what fate that might occur to them. Sabr
is the patience and determination an individual demonstrates in the face of life s challenges. The Qur
an states no disaster can come on the Earth, or on yourselves, that isn t already recorded by us in a
book, and that is indeed easy for Allah. Remember that so you don t despair over what you have lost
or brag, about what you have gained... . By submitting to Allah, following the Five Pillars and the
concepts of Taqwa, Qadr and Sabr, a Muslim adherent is able to move closer to attaining individual
peace.

Essay On White Americans
When asked to validate a statement such as the one mentioned that references the disadvantages of
minorities versus those of White Americans the three most significant obstacles, in my opinion, are
employment, education, and crime. If you have a group of people who are subordinate in those three
categories, you have individuals who are positively underprivileged. Let us begin with employment or
joblessness. Unfortunately, socioeconomic status, income, employment, and unemployment are
determined by some level of race and ethnicity. In the early 1980 s when low skilled jobs and high
wage workers wandered out of the central portion of the city, therefore increasing space and
inaccessibility to jobs, that was the beginning of employment trouble and social detachment. Even
after managing for local conditions, there was still a sizable extensive employment disadvantage for
blacks (D Amico Maxwell, 1995) As urban centralization increased and industry continued to move
the high, and low wages/skills and minority migration to the inner cities intensified(D Amico
Maxwell, 1995). It was this continued shift that left minorities reduced to an area that suffered from
high rates of joblessness, welfare dependency, crime and single parent households. There was now an
exclusion from job networks and confinement to poor quality schooling, which materialized into lousy
working habits(D Amico Maxwell, 1995).
Next, we factor in the disadvantages for minorities in education as it

The Effects And Effects Of The Industrial Revolution...

effects during the Victorian period. In this assignment I m going to explain the impact that the
industrial revolution had on people in
There are three main characteristics of the industrial revolution which most people would think of first
which are urbanization, suburb slums and agricultural revolution.
Urbanization is when people move from small towns and the countryside to live in cities for more job
opportunities. It developed to many people living in overcrowded houses, which lead to social classes
being organized into geographical zones. So, the working classes and under classes lived in the inner
city and the middle and upper classes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the seed drill which is a machine that was able to plant seeds deeper and in regular rows,
and using the method of a crop rotation which is when crops were rotated on three fields instead of
two this kept soil fertile, so more crops could grow.
There were many effects during the industrial revolution some were economic, and some were social.
One of the economic effects was the leisure industry. Using new technology and transportation many
people were able to travel more using the national railway networks, people were able to travel for
days out to the seaside for a cheap fare and so many business people started to run hotels for mainly
the middle class to go for holidays. There were many places people could go for leisure like the
Vauxhall pleasure gardens it was a place for all to go to escape reality it had a small entrance fee, but
it was a place for all social classes to mix and socialise. With all these new places and businesses there
was more opportunities for regular and full time employment. Victorian leisure became a popular
culture in Britain and its modernization under the boost of the industrial revolution. As industrialism
and urban growth began to grind down traditional patterns of rural life. Music halls became very
popular by the 1800 s and succeeded as a prototype modern entertainment industry . The middle class
had more options of leisure than the working class as they had

  • 3. The Chrysanthemums Symbolism How can a flower simply represent the personality of a person? Chrysanthemum comes from the Greek prefix of chrys meaning golden and anthemion meaning flower. John Steinbeck s short story discusses the life of Elisa Allen, an advocate for gardening with an internal want for a more fulfilling life. The chrysanthemum is an ironic flower to use in this story because the chrysanthemum is a symbol of optimism and joy, which is lacking in Elisa s life. Steinbeck brings the theme of gender inequality to the surface by using the symbols of the chrysanthemums and the Salinas Valley as representations of different feelings and emotions in Elisa s life. The chrysanthemums symbolize Elisa s life and how society has forbidden her to be anything other than a housewife or something within the boundaries of her home. When Elisa offers the Tinker her chrysanthemums, she was also offering herself because she saw herself as one with her flowers. When the tinker tosses her flowers on the road this mimics the way he rejects her and the way society has rejected women. The flowers, just like women, are seen as merely decorations, not something that can be daring. The chrysanthemums like women are golden, but golden only in regards to looks, nothing more. When Elisa tells the Tinker she can fix pots and would love to live the life that he had, he says It ain t the right kind of a life for a woman. Women are supposed to be housewives and mothers. Even though Elisa wants a more thrilling life, she follows in the footsteps of a traditional housewife. She laid out her husband s clothes and ran his bath water because she knows that is her place, even if she disagrees with it. The Salinas tie themselves to the theme because they limit the potential of Elisa s life just as society does. The valley keeps Elisa within the confinement of her quaint life. The two men in Steinbeck s story, Henry and the Tinker, do not notice the intelligence, beauty, and potential that Elisa has just as society does not see it either. Steinbeck uses ... Most of the month of April was spent waiting for Mr. Hill to find a steer in my price range. During the waiting period I spent a lot of time educating myself on steer selection, feeding, halter breaking and grooming. Since I have never been around steer before, I left the selection up to Mr. Hill. Mr. Hill is an expert in determining the structural correctness, definition, balance, set of hock, and frame size. The first order of business was setting up the pin by disinfecting the floor, laying cedar bedding, purchasing feed and water buckets, and hanging a hay stack. With all this done, the pin was ready for my new project. On Monday April 24th, Mr. Hill asked me to meet him at the barn to look at three steer he purchased and decide which one I wanted. The surface of Venus cannot be seen with an ordinary telescope, as it is covered with water vapor and clouds of sulfuric acid. Another similarity is that both plays have two central characters that suffer from madness, each has one character whose madness is real and each has a character whose madness is faked. • 10. John Winthrop s The Puritan In the Puritan religion, one cannot love anything more than one loves God. In the case of John Winthrop, this edict became an issue. He did not want to abandon the Church of England as the separatists did, a decision which eventually led to the pilgrims starting their own new church. Winthrop wanted to purify the church; however, the government in England made this particularly hard and eventually this is what led to Winthrop leaving England for the New World to solve the Puritan Dilemma. The Puritan Dilemma was a figurative battle between the Church of England and the Puritan religion. It was also a real threat with opposing religions that would come and threaten the Puritans way of life. John Winthrop recognized these problems and sought to remedy them. In the early 1600 s, John Winthrop grew up in a very wealthy family. He attended college at 15 and at 17 he was married. Winthrop loved his wife very much but at times he thought maybe too much (he remarried 3 times because his first 2 wives passed away). As a Puritan, Winthrop dedicated his life to God, but as he got older, England s government made it harder and harder to be a Puritan, due to the fact that the king said outright he hated Puritans. It is used as a healthcare tool to detect gene variants associated to a certain disease or disorder, and is used non clinically for paternity testing and forensics. There are many different methods of testing, usually done with a blood sample. Other methods include diagnostic testing, carrier testing, prenatal testing, pre implantation genetic testing, newborn screening, pharmacogentic testing, and a few others. DNA has about 12 million single nucleotide polymorphisms and thousands of copy number variants, most of which are not harmful. Sometimes these mutations in genes can cause genetic disorders that end up altering or inhibiting protein function. Gene Therapy focuses on correcting the mutated genes usually by inserting a normal gene into the genome. Researchers treat these diseases this way by repairing dysfunctional gene or by providing copies of the missing gene. They isolate the normal DNA and package it into a vector. Other ways include replacing the abnormal gene with a normal one, repair the mutated gene, or altering the regulation of a certain gene. As of right now, reparative results have been marginal, there is potential of gene therapy treating single gene disorders. Due to precarious political or social standings, even women in power were subject to the judgement and power of men. When considering the portrayal of exceptional women throughout history, rarely has a woman been able to fully embrace the stage without reservations. An analysis of research texts and journal articles reveals and connects the way that a queen of ancient times and one of the English Renaissance controlled their image, were affected by societal views of women, and were ultimately depicted. Scholarship on Cleopatra and Queen Elizabeth I relays the idea that society and patriarchy led to their respective authorities and depictions. Mary Hamer, author of Signs of Cleopatra, a historical research text, investigates Cleopatra s cultural significance from her earliest representations in her own time to her status as a symbol in modern times. In the chapter, Cleopatra: housewife, she discusses Cleopatra s image between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries, a time that spans the invention of the printing press and the proliferance of Elizabethan playwright, William Shakespeare. Hamer uses the work of Petrarch, Boccaccio, and Jan de Bray, which was spread rapidly due to the printing press, as a lens to view Cleopatra s image. In regards to this image, she notes the changing attitude towards women, a result of the Reformation creating an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Managed Care System The U.S has many payer systems which many believe it to be its downfall among other countries. This may be because many view it more as an economic business and not an overall wellness plan. The United States main public program of funding is Medicare, which once followed a standard form of payment. It is now envisioned as a futuristic model that encompasses the payments of providers. Medicare is a national social insurance program that is run by the government since 1966. Also unlike Great Britain system, the program provides health care to Americans over 65 years of age for those who have paid their work dues in the system. Medicare has also extended its reach to those Americans who may be veterans or disabled. Another huge form of payment to providers is through Managed care which can be beneficial to physicians in the fee for service and capitation aspect. While this form of payment is similar to Great Britain s programs, their execution of it remains vastly different. Managed Care is a type of healthcare system with health care plans that has restrictions on its selection of facilities and health care providers at a reduced cost for the patient. • 23. Problem-Solving Courts are Helping to Reform the Justice... I believe that one of the best reforms to our justice system is the growing number of Problem Solving Courts. Problem Solving Courts are specialized courts that focus on specific problems in society, such as drug abuse, prostitution, mental health, domestic violence, etc (Courts). I have chosen drug courts more specifically to research. According to drugpolicy.org, in 2012 1.55 million people were arrested for non violent drug charges (Drug Policy Alliance). This is an astounding amount of people being arrested, which is why I believe it is important to have problem solving courts. Unlike traditional courts, these specialized courts address the issues that individuals have that cause them to commit crimes in order to reduce the chances of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Possibly one of the largest obstacles in creating problem solving courts is economical/political issues. With our nation in a recession many states are seeing budget cuts. The National Center for State Courts stated that as of 2011, a large number of state and local courts had experienced budget cuts of 15 to 20 percent since 2009 (Griller, 2011). The article also stated that despite the fact that these courts are cost effective in the long run, hard dollar cost per case figures are beginning to trump soft dollar crime reduction benefits (Griller, 2011). One idea to help problem solving courts make it through budget cuts is to have the court provide date periodically that shows evidence of rehabilitation, declining jail costs, and how this system is improving neighborhoods. The Seattle Municipal Court has done just this, and has managed to maintain funding to their problem solving courts while there have been budget cuts to the city government, as well as judicial position reductions (Griller, 2011). Currently, drug courts have been proven to be successful at reducing recidivism of offenders. In the United States there are about 120,000 people receiving help in order to rehabilitate them and to try to reduce the chances of recidivism (Office of National Drug Control Policy, 2011). These programs require individuals to participate in the programs for a minimum of one year. During this year the individuals are required to appear in court and be drug tested at ... This religion is called Christianity and within Christianity is several smaller branches like, Methodism, Baptism, or Episcopalian but; two of the biggest branches of this complex religion are Catholicism and Protestantism. If one were to closely examine these two faiths then they will find that they both have the same objective which is to lead more people to God. Hence, in this paper, I will be going through the theme of strategy in different sources, and I will analyze and explain some different strategies that were mentioned in the sources. There is a mutual relationship between this inner peace and the peace with the wider world. Muslim s believe that you cannot be at peace with yourself until you are also at peace with others. It will also not be possible to live at peace with others until there is a sense of peace with yourself. In Islam the concept of peace is two fold. • 31. Essay On White Americans When asked to validate a statement such as the one mentioned that references the disadvantages of minorities versus those of White Americans the three most significant obstacles, in my opinion, are employment, education, and crime. If you have a group of people who are subordinate in those three categories, you have individuals who are positively underprivileged. Let us begin with employment or joblessness. Unfortunately, socioeconomic status, income, employment, and unemployment are determined by some level of race and ethnicity. In the early 1980 s when low skilled jobs and high wage workers wandered out of the central portion of the city, therefore increasing space and inaccessibility to jobs, that was the beginning of employment trouble and social detachment. Even after managing for local conditions, there was still a sizable extensive employment disadvantage for blacks (D Amico Maxwell, 1995) As urban centralization increased and industry continued to move the high, and low wages/skills and minority migration to the inner cities intensified(D Amico Maxwell, 1995). It was this continued shift that left minorities reduced to an area that suffered from high rates of joblessness, welfare dependency, crime and single parent households. There was now an exclusion from job networks and confinement to poor quality schooling, which materialized into lousy working habits(D Amico Maxwell, 1995).
