INTRODUCTION
Road Power Generator (RPG) is one of the most
recent power generation concepts.
This device is engineered as a practical and useful
alternative energy technology for generating clean
electricity from the millions of vehicles on our
roadways.
This device converts the kinetic energy of the
vehicles into electrical energy.
This is done by moving plate installed on the road,
this plate take the stroke motion of the vehicles and
convert it to the rotary motion by crank mechanism
and it generates electricity.
WASTAGE OF POWER
The amount of energy wasted by a vehicles is
enormous.
According to traffic authority statistics shows that
15,000 to 20,000 vehicles travel along each main
road every day.
Some roads have five time this traffic volume.
This equates to at least 30,000 to 40,000 tons of
wasted energy per road per day.
There are several minimizing wasted energy as
using road power generator.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
Road power generator is a system design to
capture waste and kinetic energy from all vehicles.
This device converts the kinetic energy of the
vehicles into electric energy.
This is done by moving plate installed on the road,
this plate captured very small movement from the
road surfaces and it transferred to a keyway
flywheel system. from hundreds of wheel lies a
single flywheel having used to driving machinery.
The RPG included the method of driving one
flywheel to another, once it reached
predetermining velocity.
The RPG flywheel system has been developed to
achieve large amount of moment of inertia in
relatively small space.
The captured energy is converted into electricity
which is fed into power grid.

DIFFERENT MECHANISM
 There are possible using three different
mechanisms:
1. Crank shaft mechanism.
2. Roller mechanism.
3. Rack and Pinion mechanism.
CRANK SHAFT MECHANISM
Crank-Shaft are required to be mounted on
bearings which creates balancing problem leading
to mechanical vibrating which in turn damage the
bearings.
 Secondly as bearings are of sliding type, any
occurrence of variable load leads to balancing
problem.

ROLLER MECHANISM
Generation of electricity is possible using road
track, as vehicles pass over roller mechanism set
up electricity can be produced. For reduction of
carbon dioxide emission, renewable energies are
considered as proper alternative energy.

RACK-PINION MECHANISM
 Rack-Pinion assembly gives good mounting convenience.
 Connection of rack with speed-breaker and pinion.
Sprocket arrangement.
 Power transmission from sprocket to shaft of dc generator
through gear assembly.

PRACTICAL ANALYSIS
ADVANTAGES
1. Pollution free power generation.
2. Low installation and maintenance cost.
3. No manual work is required during the process.
4. No fuel transportation.
5. Less floor area.
6. Energy available all the year.
DISADVANTAGES
1. It gets rusted during rainy season.
2. May not work with light vehicle.
3. Less electricity production.
4. We have to check mechanism from time to time.
APPLICATIONS
1. Local power generation.
2. Local display board.
3. Street lightening.
4. Charging batteries and using them to light up the
streets tec.
CONCLUSION
A Survey on the energy consumption in India had
published a pathetic report the 85,000 villages in
India do not still have electricity.
Supply of power is most of the country is poor.
 Hence more research and development of
technologies are needed in this field.
This energy can be used for the lights on the either
sides of the roads and thus power that is consumed
by these lights can be utilized to send power to
these villages.

Road power generator

INTRODUCTION Road Power Generator (RPG) is one of the most recent power generation concepts. This device is engineered as a practical and useful alternative energy technology for generating clean electricity from the millions of vehicles on our roadways. This device converts the kinetic energy of the vehicles into electrical energy. This is done by moving plate installed on the road, this plate take the stroke motion of the vehicles and convert it to the rotary motion by crank mechanism and it generates electricity.

WASTAGE OF POWER The amount of energy wasted by a vehicles is enormous. According to traffic authority statistics shows that 15,000 to 20,000 vehicles travel along each main road every day. Some roads have five time this traffic volume. This equates to at least 30,000 to 40,000 tons of wasted energy per road per day. There are several minimizing wasted energy as using road power generator.

WORKING PRINCIPLE Road power generator is a system design to capture waste and kinetic energy from all vehicles. This device converts the kinetic energy of the vehicles into electric energy. This is done by moving plate installed on the road, this plate captured very small movement from the road surfaces and it transferred to a keyway flywheel system. from hundreds of wheel lies a single flywheel having used to driving machinery. The RPG included the method of driving one flywheel to another, once it reached predetermining velocity.
  • 7. The RPG flywheel system has been developed to achieve large amount of moment of inertia in relatively small space. The captured energy is converted into electricity which is fed into power grid. Figure no.1, Google source
  • 8. DIFFERENT MECHANISM  There are possible using three different mechanisms: 1. Crank shaft mechanism. 2. Roller mechanism. 3. Rack and Pinion mechanism.
  • 9. CRANK SHAFT MECHANISM Crank-Shaft are required to be mounted on bearings which creates balancing problem leading to mechanical vibrating which in turn damage the bearings.  Secondly as bearings are of sliding type, any occurrence of variable load leads to balancing problem.   • 10. ROLLER MECHANISM Generation of electricity is possible using road track, as vehicles pass over roller mechanism set up electricity can be produced. For reduction of carbon dioxide emission, renewable energies are considered as proper alternative energy. Figure no.3,Googal source
  • 11. RACK-PINION MECHANISM  Rack-Pinion assembly gives good mounting convenience.  Connection of rack with speed-breaker and pinion. Sprocket arrangement.  Power transmission from sprocket to shaft of dc generator through gear assembly. Figure no.4,Google source
  • 12. ELEMENTS USED IN RACK- PINION MECHANISM Various machine elements used in construction: 1. Rack and Pinion 2. Sprockets 3. Gears 4. Flywheel 5. Shaft 6. Electric dynamo
  • 14. ADVANTAGES 1. Pollution free power generation. 2. Low installation and maintenance cost. 3. No manual work is required during the process. 4. No fuel transportation. 5. Less floor area. 6. Energy available all the year.
  • 15. DISADVANTAGES 1. It gets rusted during rainy season. 2. May not work with light vehicle. 3. Less electricity production. 4. We have to check mechanism from time to time.
  • 16. APPLICATIONS 1. Local power generation. 2. Local display board. 3. Street lightening. 4. Charging batteries and using them to light up the streets tec.
  • 17. CONCLUSION A Survey on the energy consumption in India had published a pathetic report the 85,000 villages in India do not still have electricity. Supply of power is most of the country is poor.  Hence more research and development of technologies are needed in this field. This energy can be used for the lights on the either sides of the roads and thus power that is consumed by these lights can be utilized to send power to these villages.
