Advantages And Disadvantages Of Western Scientific Medicine
Western Scientific Medicine or WSM involves many healthcare professionals which include doctors
pharmacists and therapists in which they try to treat diseases or disorders with drugs surgery or
other forms of procedures such as radiotherapy. Traditional Medicine relates to many different
cultures and the way that many cultures prevented mental and physical illness as well as
diagnosing the disorder and improving the treatment. It is a total sum of different cultures
combining the knowledge and skills they had which was based on the theories and beliefs that the
different cultures had. Complementary and alternative medicineincludes practises such as
acupuncture, Tai Chi, Massages and drinking infused teas such as green tea. CAM is not part of
the same brand of WSM standard care.
Mindfulness Meditation(CAM): Mindfulness Meditation has a few advantages and disadvantages

Coast Guard Leadership Examples
1. My personal definition of leadership is: Set a personal example in your behavior that reflects the
Coast Guard core values and what you expect from others, on and off duty. Know the direction you
are going and effectively communicate expectations so that others clearly understand what the goal
is. Always seek to improve yourself both professionally and academically. Encourage others to
identify areas for improvement and inconsistencies in policy and procedures. Foster an environment
that builds trust and confidence by motivating others to want to succeed. Praise personal and team
accomplishments regularly so people know their hard work is making a difference.

A second behavior that I recognize I could improve is Experiments and takes risks, even when
there is a chance of failure. This is an area that had the largest gap between how I rated myself
and the average of how others rated the frequency in which I engage in this behavior. I have
engaged in taking risks with regard to standing up for what is right, and bringing concerns to the
command about the effect their behavior had on unit morale. Even doing what I am supposed to
do in my position as a senior enlisted leader, I was still put down for doing so. That
experimenting and risk taking was not visible to the unit as a whole, which could explain the
gap. Thus, I have backed off on taking those risks in this area. What I can do in the future is
ensure that I pass the word to the crew that I am looking out for morale and unit cohesion, and
how I am doing that to make it more visible. I will seek out new ideas and approaches to our work

The Dream Of The Rood
The Dream of the Rood is by an unknown, Anglo Saxon, author. This ancient poem is about Jesus
being crucified through the cross point of view. Although this poem is about Jesus death, it does
not exactly match up with what the Bible has depicted in the Gospels of the New Testament. There
is a culture clash between the Anglo Saxon culture and beliefs and what the Bible thinks of Jesus
during his crucifixion. In this poem the author expresses Christ as strong, heroic, and bold, but the
Bible states that he was humble, passive, and weak. Contrary to what the Bible says, The Dream of
the Rood proclaims that Christ felt no pain, the crossdid. These are only a few examples of the
differences between the Bible s take on this story versus the unknown author. This piece of
literature is so highly regarded, even today, because of the culture clash it displays. The story of the
crucifixion of JesusChrist had only been written down in the Bible. To see this story being
transformed into how a newer culture interpreted the story had never been heard of up until this
point in history. This shows how time and different cultures can change stories and belief systems....

The Pros And Cons Of Gun-Free Zones
It is 10 years from now and you friend are living in a nice house with a family. They are home
cleaning while their husband is at work and their kids are at school. They hear someone break in
and they need to protect themselves, but they do not have a gun because the government banned
them. How are they going to protect themselves? The person breaking into their house will not
stop and think: Oh crap, it is against the law to break into someone s house and hold them at
gunpoint, I need to leave now . Criminals do not follow laws. There has been a debate going on
for years about whether or not we need more gunfree zones or more background checks when
someone wants to buy a gun. There are people in the United States that wantto amend the second
amendment and there are people who want to get rid of gun free zones. Getting rid of gun free
zones will help reduce crime in the United States and help create a safer home.
Many people want more gun free zones because they think that people will actually listen to the
law and not bring a gun and that will cause the crime rate to decrease. According to
CrimeResearch.org 98.4% of mass public shootings from 1950 to July 2016 of shootings are in
gun free zones and 96.2% of all shootings from January 1998 to December 2015 are in gun free
zones. Remembering the church shooting in Charleston, South Carolina back in 2015 where Dylann

Angel Isolation
Isolation from the world and other people can sometimes be good for people. For those that choose
to step back and take a break from the world, isolation can be a time of growth and self discovery.
However, if a person is forced into isolation, like Gregor Samsa and the angel were, it has a
completely different effect. For the angel in The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings and Gregor
Samsain The Metamorphosis, their isolation was physical as well as mental. The angel in The
Very Old Man with Enormous Wings , was locked in a chicken coop for what seems to be
several months, constantly being picked at and gawked at by townspeople who had paid to see
him. He was a large man with enormous wings living in a tiny space with no meaningful human
contact. Although the reader is not able to delve into the mind of the angel and see his thoughts,
it is easy to imagine how someone would feel if they were in a strange place, locked in a small
chicken coop, and looked upon as a sideshow. In the Metamorphosis , Gregor Samsa was also
locked in a small space for several months. Although he was in a familiar place, after his
transition to a bug, he was looked upon by his family as a stranger. He became more and more
isolated as the story went on both from his family and his humanity. Although the angel and Gregor
were both nonhuman and experienced several months of isolations, they were very different. The
angel was described as an old scruffy man with very large wings. Gregor on the other hand was a
human man that had completely turned into a bug. There were no physical human characteristics
to Gregor once he had turned into a large cockroach. The other characters in the stories also treated
the Gregor and the old man very differently. The people in The Very Old Man with Enormous
Wings , seemed to be a lot more fascinated by the angel than scared of him. People wanted to see
the angel and came from all over and even paid money to do so. In The Metamorphosis , Gregor
s family was terrified of him and kept him locked up in his room until he died. Another major
difference between the two characters was that in the end of The Very Old Man with Enormous
Wings , the angel was freed from the coop, gained his strength

The Extinction Of The Dinosaurs Extinction
Imagine you were a dinosaur, living 65 million years ago. One day, you are going around doing
what you do on a normal basis, when suddenly you see a giant object coming towards the ground
a few hundred miles away from you. Then suddenly, it goes black as gases block out all light
except for one light coming rapidly towards you. Other dinosaurs are running away from the
light as you start following them. You look behind you to see the light is quickly catching up to
you as suddenly it catches you. You feel immense pain and then you are dead. I believe that the
mass extinction of the dinosaurs sixty five million years ago was caused by an asteroid ten
kilometers wide striking just off of the coast of the Yucatan peninsula, that caused smoke to
block out the sun and for fireballs to shoot across the sky. About 65 million years ago, an
asteroid is said to have crashed off the coast of the Yucatan peninsula. This crash is what some
scientists believe to be the reason the dinosaurs went extinct. The first to believe that impact was
the cause of the extinction were the father son duo of Luis and Walter Alvarez. They think that
because of the crash the sun was blocked out by dense clouds of dust. The crash also most likely
didn t kill just the dinosaurs but, according to PBS, ...caused the extinction of just the dinosaurs,
but of up to 70 percent of all plants and animals living at the time. The asteroid was also most
likely not traveling very slowly. It is believed it was

Who Invented The Flour Industry
What did you have for breakfast this morning? Was it cereal or toast these items and many more
contain flour. Without the help of the flour industry you probably wouldn t of been able to eat
those items. The flour industry has been around for many years. It s a big part of history and still
plays a very important role. The flour industry started at least two hundred years ago. The flour
industry is still very important today.
The start of the flour industry was very small. However the reason the flour industry was very
small was that it was just the beginning of it, and many people did not know how profitable it
would be. Another reason it was so small was that many people did not know if it was going to
be a waste of money, because it was very expensive to pay for everything. In order to make this a
successful industry the flour industry would need many employees such as farmers, railroad
workers, machinists who tended to the large machines, barrel makers, packers who caught flour
after it was poured off of the assembly line. Without enough farmers selling wheatto the flour
companies or them having farmers that worked there they didn t have as much wheat to make the
flour. Which meant for the flour companies less flour was able to be made. ... Show more content on

flour company probably wasn t the best decision to make, especially if you didn t have a bunch of
money. A big thing that happened to many companies was that many people were dying because of

Systems Analysis And Design Of Iain s Co
Systems Analysis and Design
Help sheet:
Introduction:
For this unit I have been asked to produce a database for Iain s Co who are a large building
service company, but before that I have to plan everything out by analysing and designing the
database for the company s newly taken over smaller company.
Scenario:
Iain s Co are a large building company who at present have employed IT technicians in order for
their technical aspects to be managed and to also support the IT users in the company. In recent
time Iain s Co s have taken over a smaller company who require some help with their database as
they want to include some new features that can improve and link both company data s together in
order to manage the two sites on one database.
Outline principles of systems analysis:
What is a system analysis?
A system analysis is a data processing method that is widely used in the business department for
breaking down a problem into different parts to reduce the difficulty of the problem and identifying
the needs to solve the problem more easily and more efficiently.
This will be helping Iain s Co greatly because they need a system that can break down problems so
that it reduces the difficulty of the problem.
What is an SSADM?
Structured Systems Analysis and Design Method is also more commonly known as SSADM,
which is an amalgamation of text and diagrams through the entire life cycle of a system design,

Summary Of Bound By Kehinde Wiley
The most influential artist to me in this exemplary in this pursuit for the appropriated traditions is
Kehinde Wiley. In his opening speech for the New Republic gallery show he expressed that things
such as his work was evolved around the working of chance . In his case, he manipulates the
chance of the representation of the black demographic in traditional work. Modifying the figurative
works to create the chance for relating a body that is familiar. I see contemporary painter, Kehinde
Wileyas a comparable to my work in regards to the topic as well as the manipulation of the human
figure. The admirable features I see in Kehinde Wiley s work in addition to these is the fantasy
elements that are incorporated. These features are best exhibited in his piece, Bound . The workis a
bronze sculpture that stands approximately four feet tall and two and half feet wide. The
composition is inviting as it includes busts of three identical women that have African descent
features that are placed on a rounded triangle base. The expressions on all of the facesare of a
staring and wondering nature that have a nature of regality as their faces are turned to the right
at an approximate forty five degree angle as their all have their back facing each other to form a
guard of the leaves the a laid on their base. The bodies are cut organically as it rounds off from
shoulder to shoulder, just enough to form the upper torso to see the corset like dress that encompass

The Perceptions Of Symbolism In William Shakespeare s The...
This poem can be interpreted from many perspectives. In the beginning, the reader might
conclude it is all a dream, however you learn the bird is always present and does not leave. Most
of the poem is told in the past tense, but we read the bird is still around in the present tense, days
or months later. A dream would not last this long. It is also possible it is indeed a hallucination,
and the speaker s madness is so deep the illusion is permanent. Maybe he actually saw a raven
one night. However, even if it was a real bird, it would not sit in one place for such a long period
of time, and coincidentally talk. The speaker tells of his attempts to ease his sorrow by reading
at candlelight. We sense he is weak from his struggle of enduring a great loss. The speaker s
surroundings are also described as bleak and dismal. The thought of a chamber at midnight has a
dark and mysterious connotation. Ironically, the thought of a small room is a safe haven for the
speaker, in comparison to the spooky world outside: Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood
there wondering, fearing (25). There are several symbols present in The Raven. One thought is the
raven represents the soul of Lenorecoming back to haunt him. The raven is not of this world,
perhaps a demon or spiritual creature, a messenger from the dead. The speaker asks the raven to
bring Lenore back, Tell this sould with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,/ It shall class
a saited maiden whom the angels name Lenore (93 94). There is also a sense the speaker is
ridden by guilt for something. Perhaps he wronged Lenore and her soul comes back to torment
him for it. Maybe he even killed her and Lenore is punishing him with his own immortality. She
wants him to know the pain of being lonely and insane forever in her retribution. The bird watches
him suffer, but does nothing but speak in order to increase the suffering. The raven inserts himself
into the story, only so far, just enough to move the story along, to essentially manipulate it. The
horror keeps the speaker from leaving his study. The repetitive knocking goes one and on like a
sign of endless guilt, so much so, it makes him incoherent. Lenore wants him to suffer endlessly and

Natural Gas and Its use as a Alternative Fuel Compared to...
Natural Gas and Its use as a Alternative Fuel Compared to Gasoline Have you ever confused the
terms Natural Gas and Gasoline ? Well don t, because they are two very different types of gases.
Natural gas and Gasoline are considered fossil fuels to most scientists because it is believed they
were formed from the remains of sea animals and plants that died 200 400 million years ago.
These sea animals were then covered by layers of sediment and rock over time which caused them
to become buried deeper and deeper, until enormous amounts of pressure and heat turned them into
oil and gas. Raw natural gasis a mixture of different gasses and the main ingredient is methane, a
natural compound that is

They also set off small explosions or drop heavy (Preston, Benjamin I Feel Gassy 5.8.12)
weights on the surface and record the sound waves as they bounce back from the sedimentary rock
layers underground. (www.NEED.org 2011). Scientists may also measure the gravitational pull of
rock masses deep within the earth, yet the most widely used and effective way of finding
Natural gas is by drilling down through the layers of sedimentary rock to reach the rock formations
that contain oil and gas deposits. After natural gas comes out of the ground, it goes to a processing
plant where it is cleaned of impurities and separated into its various components.
Now, the type of natural gas that goes into automobiles is called Liquefied Natural Gas, or
LNG. The process for making LNG starts the same way as producing natural gas, except the
natural gas is cooled to 260 degrees Fahrenheit. By doing this, the natural gas changes into
LNG and its volume is reduced 600 times. Another exceptional way Natural gas is found is by 3
D and 4 D seismic imaging. This technique uses powerful technology from computers to help
determine accuracy in whereas to drill. Another technique used to find natural gas is called
Hydraulic fracturing. . This involves the injection of more than a million gallons of water, sand
and chemicals at high pressure, down and across into horizontally drilled wells as far as 10,000

Essay On College Sports
When it comes to the topic of college athletics, most of us will readily agree that college sports
are a great opportunity to go to college for someone who otherwise would not be able to attend.
Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of whether colleges need to focus
more on learning over athletics. Whereas some are convinced that sports can lower academic
standards for admission just to play a sport, others maintain that collegesports bring in lots of extra
revenue and help students get a quality educationat a price they can afford to pay. While sports can
increase revenue and attention, colleges are made to further students education and prepare them
for the career path they have chosen. Universities nowadays are almost built completely around
sports. Athletics haul in billions of dollars annually for universities and draw in crowds of over
100,000 people for only a single game. While these are great for fans... Show more content on

When student athletes get enrolled in more basic, easy classes and make good grades, it makes it
look as if they are putting as much work as the more accomplished students. Scholarships offered
by these schools can also put non athletes at a disadvantage due to the athlete receiving special
benefits that a plain student with the same grades would not otherwise receive. If this happens, it
shows that colleges truly do prioritize athletics over academics.
Though college sports are extremely enjoyable and profitable for universities, education should be
prioritized over athletic participation and there should not be any lowered standards for student
athletes. The main focus of college is to make it to one s career, not to make it to a professional
sports league. Going in with that mentality will achieve nothing and possibly even hurt your
chances of being successful in

Spoon River Anthology Theme
Loss is inevitable, there is a time in everyone s life that this pain will be felt, yet dealing with it
shows the true character of the person. The book of Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters
displays the true meaning of that statement. The characters throughout explain the many struggles
faced in their life, all the way until their death. In The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, the main character
is doomed from the very beginning. He demonstrates the life of an immigrant, poor, nasty, brutish.
He along with his family undergo massive loss and devastation throughout the entire book. The
difference in background, race, minority, plays no role in the extreme suffering each and everyone

The Three Types Of Carilage In The Human Body
There are three types of cartilages which are the hyaline cartilage, elastic cartilage, and
fibrocartilage. The hyaline cartilage is the most abundant cartilage in the human body that
provides a firm support with pliability. Examples of the hyaline cartilage are the articular, costal,
respiratory, and nasal cartilage. The elastic cartilage is a cartilage that is more flexible than the
hyaline cartilage. Examples of the elastics cartilage are external ear and epiglottis. The
fibrocartilage is a cartilage that is highly compressible with thick collagen fibers. Examples of the
fibrocartilage are the menisci of the knee and discs between the vertebrae.
The bones have seven important parts that play a role in the human body which are support,
protection, movement, mineral and growth factor storage, blood cell formation, triglyceride
storage, and hormone production. Support are when the bones provide a framework of the body
and soft organs. Protection is when the bones that protect the brain which is called the skull, the
vertebrae protects the spinal cord and the rib cage protects the vital organs. Movement is also
known as anchorage are attached by tendons to help our body move by walking, grabbing objects,
and breathing. Mineral and growth factor storage is when the bone or bones are filled with calcium
and phosphorus to make the bones grow. The blood cell formation is also known as hematopoiesis
occurs in the red blood arrow in certain bones. Triglyceride storage also known as

Making Dating Work
Introduction
Do you know that saying rules are meant to be broken? Break these rules. This rules were made
from two women who are strongly misguided on what it takes to make a relationship flourish,
contradicting themselves as the chapters go on, as well as manipulating themselves and men in
order to find a husband. They build their knowledge on traditionally false pretenses on how to
act, look, and keep a man at your side. There is no right way to end up married. You can
manipulate and censor yourself like this book suggests, or you can go out into the dating world
being who you are and hope that the right one will come along. The best way to make dating work

Fein and Schneider (1997) say, Let him take the lead. He declares love first, just as he picks
most of the movies, the restaurants, and the concerts the two of you go to (p. 85). This is not
about tradition in the author s eyes; this is about power in the relationship. Her contributions to
the relationship are not equal with his even though there may be a good outcome. Fein and
Schneider (1997) see this as a strategy to finally get a ring on her finger, not necessarily a happy
relationship and they also include, after he proposes, he will eventually meet all your friends and
family. Until then, just follow his lead (p. 86). According to equity, women will be severely
overcompensated and lose this so called power of the potential relationship with these two rules.
Griffeth, Vecchio, and Logan Jr., (1989) research concluded, In situations of relative
overcompensation, the presence of an attractive referent other appears to heighten one s sense of
over reward and thereby to contribute to greater efforts to restore equity. In settings of relative
under compensation, it may be easier for the focal person to accept inequity inherent in the situation

What Is A Dystopia
Though the dystopian society seems like it is an opposite of a utopia, it is not exactly opposite
because the dystopias also contain some of the elements that can be seen in utopias such as intense
measures of social control but the only difference is that in dystopia, these elements are taken to the
horrendous extremes and where the emphasis is upon the negative effects. In the words of
M.H.Abrams, Dystopiameans a bad place...in which certain ominous tendencies of [the] present

The word respect would not be that much pertinent, as that one leader would be raised to the
place of God . He will be worshipped by the citizens of the society. As, said before people cannot
act however they like and the main reason for such thing is that the citizens are always under the
surveillance. They would be watched by the authoritative groups and any change in their
behaviour would be very well known by the group. Citizens do not lead a peaceful life and they
always live in a fear of the outside world. They also live in a dehumanized state. They lack all the
positive human qualities. The negativity that prevails in their life does not give them any
positivity and thus their life just moves on without any hope. People are shown as suffering both
physically and psychologically. People are made to live in their world where the natural world is

Essay on Xenotransplantation
Xenotransplantation
Introduction
According to Webster s Dictionary, a doctor is one skilled or specializing in healing arts.
However, what is entailed in these healing arts has expanded time and time again over the course
of history. At one point in time, to be a doctor was as simple as administering the right dose of a
certain elixir, and then as time went on advances were made in the areas of antibiotics and other
medicines, as well as in surgical arenas. Now we have come to a new age where doctors are pushing
the boundaries of their capability far beyond anyone imagined they could. Since the first kidney

Instead the benefits of this procedure reach to include those with diabetes, Alzheimer s,
Parkinsons, and those who have suffered a stroke. As with any new technological advance, there is
a bevy of issues and points to discuss before one can form an educated conclusion about what is
best for society.
Professional Issues
The professional issues involved in xenotransplantation are especially significant due to the nature
of the medical profession. It is crucial that the primary motivation for doctors always center on
doing all they can, in the best way they can, for their patients. In a portion of the Hippocratic oath
taken by doctors entering the medical profession, they swear that into whatsoever house you shall
enter, it shall be for the good of the sick to the utmost of your power... The question is, what exactly
is meant by the utmost of your power ? Ideally whatever form of organ transplantation helps the
most people would be the best, but unfortunately it is not that simple, there are other issues to be
considered.
First of all, the process of xenotransplantation is nowhere near being perfected enough to use on
humans. However, some experts do believe the first clinical trials with pig organs could take place
in as soon as two years. Before this happens, more research needs to be done to figure out how to
work past the current obstacles facing this procedure, one of which is the

The Universal Law Of Nature
The Formula of the Universal Law (of Nature) is the first formulation of the categorical
imperative in Kant s Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals, in which he proposes to act as if
the maxim of your action were to become through your will a universal law of nature. (Kant,
421) For example, telling the truth is considered a universal law. However, many skeptics argue
that it is illogical because of human behavior, we as a society are put into dire situations in
which lying is necessary to protect life. I will argue that the categorical imperative is an ideal for
humanity that has been deeply misunderstood and is valid in relation to the Kingdom of Ends
formula. During the Nazi era, many were subjected to their religious beliefs and citizens were
being asked whether or not he or she were a Jew. In a hypothetical response, due to the nature of
the question, if you were to say yes, you would then be executed under the law of a harsh
dictator. It is obvious to say that, the duty to preserve your own life would be threatened in
regards to the murderer asking the question. We can infer that although lying is morally wrong in
regards to the categorical imperative, it is not wrong to the murderer who is not conforming to the
moral requirements. Therefore, we shall look into the necessary moral requirements for categorical
imperative to be a reasonable obligation for us to follow. In addition to the universal law of nature,
there are two other principles: the formula of

An Individual With Visual Impairment
Today, I will attempt to understand what it is like for an individual with a visual impairment to
complete a task that would be very simple for an individual with sight. This exercise is being
conducted to help me gain an understanding of how an individual with visual impairment would
approach this task. I will try to make myself some cereal, eat it, and clean up my mess. My son
Jason will remain in the kitchenwith me as a protective measure.
I stand in the middle of the kitchen while the blindfold is applied to my eyes. Immediately, it is
dark. My first thought is what is the easiest to get for a bowl of cereal. I decided to get a bowl from
the counter. I rely on my memory to guide me to the cabinet through feeling for the counter top to
the left of my position, then I reach up to grab a bowl. I feel around with my hand to make sure
that I am at the top of the stack of bowls and then I grab the bowl. I feel with my right hand to
make sure there is a free space for my bowl on the counter and that I am not to close to the edge.
Then with my right hand, I close the cabinet. I edge myself over to the left again, following the
counter top. As I reach the end, I stretch out my arm to help guide me towards the stove. The
spoons are in the left lower drawer. I open the drawer and feel the different utensils. I find the
small size spoon and pull it out. I then make my way back across the kitchen to place the spoon
beside the bowl. I go back to the stove area the same way that I

Assignment 3 Personality Traits
My first personality trait that I found will help me for a career is logical. For those don t know
what logical is, it s where you think things through, trying to find a reason or logical solution to
the problem. Some people even try to play it out. Playing checkers are a great example of how
logic is used. Chess is also a great example of how logic being used. The reason that this
characteristic fits me is i like to see how electronics are made, how they are designed and
processed, and want to know how to fix them. The second personality that I found useful and that
will help me for a career is articulate. Articulate is showing the ability to speak fluently and
coherently or speaking with ease. Teachers are a great example. Teachers can help students that
need help to understand a subject like math. Teachers can also help the students learn how to do a
math problem. Another example is when giving a speech to a crowd or a audience. You have to
talk smoothly and consistent when talking to people. This characteristic fit with my career because
when you fix a electronic problem, you talk to the person about what happened articulately instead
of just yelling at them. You tell the person what happened, how you fixed it, and how to take care
of it properly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Intuitive is having the ability to understand or know something without any direct evidence or
reasoning process. Fixing cars are a great example. People will say there s something wrong with

The United States And The Native Americans Essay
The United States and the Native Americans have a rich historical background. Though on the
surface it is filled with hatred and injustice, there are a lot more complex interactions once
thoroughly examined. The U.S, once a colony of the Europeans, eventually grew into the strong
standing nation that it is today. Meanwhile the original inhabitants, the Native Americans, often
received the aggression and oppression of this growing nation, but they weren t the savages the U.S.
claimed them to be. In fact, the IroquoisConfederacy was the main influence of the U.S
Constitution. This paper will discuss the differences as well as the similarities, which are thought to
be controversial, between these two historical documents.
The difference between the two groups has been very apparent for the hundreds of years they
cohabited. For the Native Americans everything about the American culture clashed greatly with
their own beliefs and systems within their own community. An example would be how their
community was mainly led by the idea of equality and a voice for everyone, no matter how young
or old. According to Grinde s analysis, Iroquois political philosophy was transmitted through the
social education of the young and power [was] equally distributed male and female, young and old
[rather] than in European American society (236). The Iroquois also placed a tremendous amount
of importance in teaching the younger people about politics so they had enough education to be

The Influences of Politics, Science, and Discovery on...
Jules Verne s science fiction novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea delivers profound
insight into historical events which influenced the work. Through Verne s descriptive style, one is
able to ascertain various political and foreign policy aspects that involved France during the time
the novel was written. In addition, worldly issues and struggles can be accurately assessed. Due to
Verne s detail and determination to explore questions of liberty and authority, it is evident that he
largely incorporates personal opinion and ideas into his works ( Twenty Thousand Leagues Under

science. Although many facets of Twenty Thousand... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The destruction of the Russian warship provides a supreme indication of who Verne supported in
the conflicts between Russian and Poland. Verne sympathizes with the suffering of the Polish
people and aspires for them to obtain independence from their oppressors. It should be noted that
Verne s opinion reflects those of many in France who objected passionately to the Russians brutal
punishment of the Poles ( Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea Literature and Its Times). It
became clearly evident to Pierre Jules Hetzel, Verne s publisher, that a scene involving the
destruction of a Russian warship by a Pole would result in severe political ramifications. Hetzel
feared that destroying a Russian warship in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea could anger
the Russian government and produce some form of retaliation. It should be noted that France had
been in opposition of Russia in the Crimean War, which came to a conclusion in 1856. Taking into
consideration the closeness of the Crimean War and the release of the first manuscript of Twenty
Thousand Leagues Under the Sea in 1868, one can speculate that France did not want to risk
engagement in another war with Russia. In addition, during the time Verne was finishing his first
manuscript, the Prussians were on the move in Denmark and Austria, and many in the French
government feared that France would be next on their list ( Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the
Sea Literature and Its Times).

Here is a quote about De Monge s design philosophy from an article in the Air and Space Magazine:
De Monge left no written record of the thinking that went into the airplane (though he made some
intriguing remarks during an interview conducted late in his life, while he was working as an
automotive engineer in the United States). But [Scotty] Wilson is convinced that de Monge
adhered to the design philosophy espoused by Antoine de Saint ExupГ©ry, the beloved French
author and World War II P 38 pilot: Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add,
but when there is nothing left to take away.
An example of this philosophy was the removal of a conventional canopy (the glass enclosure
around the pilot). Most fighter aircraft at the time were built with the engine in the nose just behind
the propeller. To allow the pilot to see past the engine, these fighters were built with raised canopies
that sat on top of the fuselage. But having these extra bulges increases drag. Bugatti got around this
by putting the pilot in the nose of the aircraft, and moving the engines. The engines were put
behind the pilot and a system of drive shafts powered the propellers.
After the designs were mostly finalized, construction began. The airplane was built in Paris in the
second floor of a furniture shop.
The frame and skin of the airplane were made almost entirely out of wood, despite the difficulties
involved with shaping wood into rounded shapes. Usually, body

some can simply be expressing their rights given to them by the Constitution. Hate crimes used to

Lately, many instances have happened where racial tensions build and hate crimes are
committed. For example, about a month ago in Charlottesville, Virginia, a rally was originally
formed by white nationalists. The situation escalated extremely quickly when blacks showed up;
harsh words were exchanged and things were being thrown from white supremacists. Counter
protesters retreated as chemicals filled the air. At that point, hate crimes were being committed.
Violence broke out between parties and few were even left for dead. State troopers are still
being sent to Charlottesville to return the peace to the college like town. Racial tensions have the
power of bringing blood to bias motivated crimes. Law enforcement does almost all that they can
to protect the citizens of the United States. Sometimes their presence just isn t enough. Imagine a
few dozen police officers trying to handle a few hundred or thousand angry rampaging
rioters. There doesn t seem to be much that can be done without promoting more violence. In our
world today, people are growing more sensitive to subjects and are willing to protest over
anything! With danger climbing to the top, the most that we can do is prepare. Be aware of
surroundings, take self protection courses, and take into consideration what we say and

important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor Elon Musk Gazing at this
statement of a world famous innovator, we might think how much of odds can be against us. Are
we ready to face the odds of leaving planet Earth and settling on Mars? I figure that has been the
blazing fixation of the man behind the fame of Tesla Motors, Space X and Solar city. Elon Musk
talks about innovation, disruption and future of human race all at once. With such things forming
the core of his ideologies, how can he follow the conventional model of branding for his hybrid

The answers being that its CEO Elon Musk is himself a celebrity who himself acts as the face of
the brand. He is known for appearing in a number of interviews to make himself and the brand
visible. He uses well known stages like TED Talks to make sure his message reaches the masses
and he is able to connote what as an organization they are trying to accomplish. Yet, it is not that
just he is the main impetus of the organization. In the backend, it is his team that is highly
dedicated and hard working that makes it possible for Tesla to achieve breakthroughs in short
spurts of months. It is well known that Elon is not satisfied with the good or better, but he
always wants to work with the best. Hence, while recruiting, he does not see whether a person is

American Art During The Great Depression
American Art during the Great Depression and before World War II sought to rebrand and rebuild a
broken and desperate nation. In colonies around the country, artists banded together to study and
support one another, and U.S. government programs of the WPA, FAP, and FSA provided
opportunities for artists to create public works on a scale never seen before in this country. Like the
LDS Church Welfare program begun at the same time, these art initiatives revived the individual s
dignity in the form of opportunity. The public, too, wanted new art that reflected the turmoil of the
country. The nation was hurting, and from this crucible of suffering emerged a body of artwork
that documented the common man and woman rural and urban, North and South, the haves and the
have nots. Distinct from the romanticized landscapes of the frontier and portraits of wealthy
Easterners that proceeded the period, this was art that mattered: it was aimed squarely to uplift and
ennoble a battered public.
One of the WPA era artists of distinction, whose award winning paintings and prints were exhibited
at the Art Institute of Chicago, Corcoran Gallery, New York World s Fair, Whitney Museum of
American Art, and in galleries in New York, Washington, D.C., St. Louis, San Francisco, and is now
in the permanent collections of the National Gallery, the Smithsonian, Carnegie Museum of Art,
and St. Louis Art Museum, among others, is Joseph Paul Vorst.
He was born in Essen, Germany in 1897, the son of a

Explain The Four Stages Of Estrous Cycle
Estrus is the period of sexual receptivity for a female animal. The estrous cycle has four stages:
proestrus, estrus, metestrus, and diestrus. Proestrus is the first stage, and lasts approximately three
days. During this stage of estrus, follicle growth begins due to the decrease in progesterone and
increase in follicle stimulating hormone and estrogen. The corpus luteum is disintegrated, and the
endometrium(the uterine lining) begins developing. After proestrus, is estrus, which lasts
approximately twelve to eighteen hours. Estrus is the time when animals are considered to be in
heat . The female animal shows signs of behavioral estrus (standing to be mounted, mounting others,
frequent urination, a winking vulva, and the occasional... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It stimulates follicular development and estrogen synthesis. It sends a positive feedback to the
ovaries. Estrogen originates from the granulosa cells in the follicle. It regulates gonadotropin
releasing hormone, luteinizing hormone, and follicle stimulating hormone, and also increases
sexual behavior. Estrogen sends a positive feedback to the surge center in he hypothalamus.
Prostaglandin F2 alpha originates from the uterus endometrium. It destroys the corpus luteum and
causes contractions in the uterus, as well as abortion. Progesterone originates from the corpus
luteum/placenta. It maintains pregnancy, inhibits gonadotropin releasing hormone, and also
prevents estrus and ovulation. Progesterone sends a negative feedback to the hypothalamus. Thanks
to the six main hormones gonadotropin releasing hormone, luteinizing hormone, follicle stimulating
hormone, estrogen, prostaglandin F2 alpha, and progesterone female animals go through the period
of sexual receptivity called estrus. The estrous cycle has four cycles: proestrus, estrus, metestrus,
and diestrus. All species of animals must go through the estrous cycle in order to

The Supreme Court Struck Down The Mccain Feingold Act
The demons of a misinterpreted judicial review have corrupted the legislature, the courts, and our
political process. In 2010, the Supreme Court struck down the McCain Feingold Act as
unconstitutional. The landmark Citizens United v Federal Elections Commission decision ruled
that political spending is a form of free speech and corporations have license to contribute
exorbitant amounts to politicians. Citizens United ensures denies the voices of citizens as
representatives are beholden to outside interests rather than their constituency. I, Justice John B.
Gibson, hold that the power of judicial reviewis too widely interpreted and, to keep government
officials accountable, must be vested in the masses to rediscover some twinge of our once budding
representative democracy. The Supreme Court often oversteps its perceived legal sovereignty when
using judicial review. Article III of the Constitution solely vests the courts the judicial power of the
United Statesnever mentioning the power of judicial review. The judiciary s duty, according to the
law of the land, is to interpret the laws, not scan the authority of the lawgiver (Gibson, J.). The
judiciary has not followed a strict interpretation of the constitution; rather, it has encroached on the
power of the legislative branch and the sanctity of the separation of powers. If the Constitution were
to come into collision with an act of the legislature (Gibson, J.), the Constitution would take
precedent, but it is

Optometrist Application Essay Examples
Optometry is a profession, which requires several skills which are used throughout ones career.
An example of such a skill needed by an optometrist, is the ability to put patients at ease swiftly
yet caringly. It is one of the few careers, which can care for a person from the cradle to the grave.
There is constant one on one interaction involved with people and this requires great
communication skills.
I have had the opportunity to spend two weeks at an opticians. This consisted of helping on the
main reception desk and therefore dealing with all sorts of matters with the patients. I was lucky
enough to sit in with the optometrist in some of his appointments and observed how he did his
work. During this time, I was introduced to many of the pieces of equipment ... Show more content

During my Sixth Form, I have attended a number of courses. In March, I participated in a
Leadership weekend where we were taken to unfamiliar surroundings and were allocated into
groups of people whom we had never met before. This was very challenging, as I had to quickly
learn to work as a team member with people I did not know. The weekend was full of mental and
physical challenges in which it was adamant that we were able to work together constructively as a
team to succeed in all the tasks. During this leadership weekend, I acquired skills that enabled me
to hold positions of responsibility. For example,
I was in charge of the maps and equipment and was nominated leader for some of the activities. I
think that the skills that I did learn will prove a valuable asset to my possible career in optometry as
I am more confident and comfortable with new people, which is an adamant skill. As an
optometrist this is very important as it is a necessity to be able to put people at ease.
I have also recently attended a Challenge of Management course. All of the people were allocated
into random groups. To succeed in the challenge, teamwork was vital and we won the market,

How Does Hattie Change Throughout The Play
The main characters Hattie, Logan and Thebes set off on an adventure to find Thebes and Logan
s father in the book The Flying Troutmans by Miriam Toews. Hattie does not feel like a big part of
her family, but that does not change her mind on protecting, taking care of and loving them. Even if
Hattie s familymistreats and misbehaves she will still help them emotionally and physically and
protect them.
First of all, Hattie is a very loyal sister to Min, even though Hattie is loyal Min acts as if she does
not want Hattie around. Hattie will do what she can to help her sister even though Min treats her
like dirt. After Hattie has tried to call Min a few times she realises Min didn t want to see her
kids. Min didn t want to see me. Her kids wanted nothing more than to be with her (Toews 61).
This quotation relates to the thesis because Min has always been the sister to push Hattie away ...

want her around now, but she treated Hattie like dirt even when they were kids One time I waited
all night in minus twenty weather outside her front door, begging her to open it and let me in...She
phoned the cops and told them I was stalking her (54). This is proof of the thesis because even

Garcia-Marquez s A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings Essay
Garcia Marquez s A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings Symbolism is often used to subtlely
enhance a story s meaning by adding emphasis and details to the story line. However, Garcia
Marquez, in A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings , cloaks his tale for children in a dreamlike
quality conveyed purely through symbolism. Clues to his intended meaning can be drawn from the
old winged man whom the story revolves around, from the metamorphous of the family who take
him in, and from outsiders reaction to this phenomenon. The old winged man symbolizes those
that are different and perhaps alien. He also represents those who are unable to contribute in any
traditional form. The story opens during a four day storm as Pelayo and his wife... Show more

Elisenda s conception of charging the inquisitive for a peek at the angel brought great wealth to
the family. With this wealth Pelayo exchanges his position as bailiff, guarding dangerous
criminals for that of running a rabbit warren, guarding the gentlest of creatures. Meanwhile,
Elisenda becomes a lady of high social status. As days turn into years Pelayo and Elisenda accept
the angel s presence, but yet do not wish to repeat the experience. This fact is evidenced in the
design of their mansion: ...high netting so that crabs wouldn t get in...and with iron bars on the
windows so that angels wouldn t get in (444). Throughout the years the angel lives with the
family, the sickly infant is strengthened into a healthy schoolboy. This young boy is the only one
who never knows the angel to be foreign, and therefore truly accepts him. The bond between
them is so close that they even share chickenpox. The story s participants from outside the
nucleus household include the wise neighbor, Father Gonzaga, and the Spider woman. The wise
neighbor called in by Pelayo and Elisenda at the discovery of the old man is responsible for the
angel label. This wise woman represents superstitious beliefs. She believed ...angels in those times
were the fugitive survivors of a celestial conspiracy... and advised Pelayo and Elisenda to club him
to death (441). Father Gonqaga and his correspondence with the church symbolize the inability of
the church to shed any

Everybody Hates Chris
Since television came into existence, it has evolved into a useful tool to spread ideas, both social
and political, and has had a great effect on the generations growing up with these heavily influential
shows. To these younger generations, television has taken the role of a teacher, with the task of
creating a social construction by which many of us base our personal beliefs and judgments on.
This power allows televisionshows take the opportunity to address problems in a manner that many
audiences can take to heart. Many television shows present controversial topics in a comical matter,
in some ways to soften the blow of hard hitting reality at the same time bringing attention to the
issue being addressed. In the television show,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Buying stolen goods is a great deal, and a good way to stretch a dollar in Chris s neighborhood
and it was perfectly acceptable, unless they were selling your stolen property. This portrayal of
Chris s neighborhood further reinforces the class differences between the white and black
neighborhoods in New York and by extension throughout the United States. Chris returns to
school and so returns the racial stereotypes that affect his day to day life. As the rumor of him
beating up the bully continues to spread, Chris is put into a position where he cannot defend
himself from any attackers or he would be labeled as the aggressor and punished by detention.
Shortly after Chris begins his school day, he is called into the principal s office to be lectured by
the school s principal. Very quickly the most heinous stereotypes are said by the principal, a man
who is supposed to be of superior intelligence and moral understanding. The principal tries to
sympathize with Chris s life by assuming he does not have a father, that his mother is on drugs,
and that Chris was born a crack baby. Chris, not having any of these issues, is shocked and
confused with the principle s assumptions of what his life is like. By putting these stereotypes into
words, the television show forces the audience to examine their own thoughts on racial stereotypes
and where the line should be

The Exodus Of The Old Testament
Exodus is the earliest text in the Old Testament that creates a new identity and sense of
community to a group of people who had nothing. According to the Exodus there were a group
of slaves who fled Egypt and where led by a prophet named Moses, who also is the proclaimed
author of the book. These people where on a mission to find the promise land where they can be
free from oppression and create their own civilization. These claims are true are still debated to this
day, but the text was written around the 1400 B.C. Mosesintentions for Exodus were to set laws
for his new community to a group of people who had only knew lives as slaves. In chapter 21 of
Exodus there are a set of laws for the new community that pander to push away their old lives to
create a new identity in which men can be equal with one another. The second verse within
chapter 21 states, if thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he
shall go out free for nothing ( Exodus , 21, 2). Immediately the author set a law that if there are
slaves then they must be released within six years, which creates hope for potential slaves.
Before Moses led the his followers out of Egypt there was no prospect of any of them being set
free from their lives as slaves. This law helps create a new community that will release their male
slaves. During this era men were dominant while women are treated as property and evidence can
be found in Exodus of this inequality. If his master have given

Encourage others to identify areas for improvement and inconsistencies in policy and procedures. Foster an environment that builds trust and confidence by motivating others to want to succeed. This is an area that had the largest gap between how I rated myself and the average of how others rated the frequency in which I engage in this behavior. I have engaged in taking risks with regard to standing up for what is right, and bringing concerns to the command about the effect their behavior had on unit morale. Even doing what I am supposed to do in my position as a senior enlisted leader, I was still put down for doing so. That experimenting and risk taking was not visible to the unit as a whole, which could explain the gap. Thus, I have backed off on taking those risks in this area. What I can do in the future is ensure that I pass the word to the crew that I am looking out for morale and unit cohesion, and how I am doing that to make it more visible. • 6. The Dream Of The Rood The Dream of the Rood is by an unknown, Anglo Saxon, author. This ancient poem is about Jesus being crucified through the cross point of view. Although this poem is about Jesus death, it does not exactly match up with what the Bible has depicted in the Gospels of the New Testament. There is a culture clash between the Anglo Saxon culture and beliefs and what the Bible thinks of Jesus during his crucifixion. In this poem the author expresses Christ as strong, heroic, and bold, but the Bible states that he was humble, passive, and weak. Contrary to what the Bible says, The Dream of the Rood proclaims that Christ felt no pain, the crossdid. These are only a few examples of the differences between the Bible s take on this story versus the unknown author. This piece of literature is so highly regarded, even today, because of the culture clash it displays. The story of the crucifixion of JesusChrist had only been written down in the Bible. To see this story being transformed into how a newer culture interpreted the story had never been heard of up until this point in history. This shows how time and different cultures can change stories and belief systems.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is composed of stanzas, is written in verse, and has a lot of imagery. • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Gun-Free Zones It is 10 years from now and you friend are living in a nice house with a family. They are home cleaning while their husband is at work and their kids are at school. They hear someone break in and they need to protect themselves, but they do not have a gun because the government banned them. How are they going to protect themselves? The person breaking into their house will not stop and think: Oh crap, it is against the law to break into someone s house and hold them at gunpoint, I need to leave now . Criminals do not follow laws. There has been a debate going on for years about whether or not we need more gunfree zones or more background checks when someone wants to buy a gun. There are people in the United States that wantto amend the second amendment and there are people who want to get rid of gun free zones. Getting rid of gun free zones will help reduce crime in the United States and help create a safer home. Many people want more gun free zones because they think that people will actually listen to the law and not bring a gun and that will cause the crime rate to decrease. According to CrimeResearch.org 98.4% of mass public shootings from 1950 to July 2016 of shootings are in gun free zones and 96.2% of all shootings from January 1998 to December 2015 are in gun free zones. • 8. Angel Isolation Isolation from the world and other people can sometimes be good for people. For those that choose to step back and take a break from the world, isolation can be a time of growth and self discovery. However, if a person is forced into isolation, like Gregor Samsa and the angel were, it has a completely different effect. For the angel in The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings and Gregor Samsain The Metamorphosis, their isolation was physical as well as mental. The angel in The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings , was locked in a chicken coop for what seems to be several months, constantly being picked at and gawked at by townspeople who had paid to see him. He was a large man with enormous wings living in a tiny space with no meaningful human contact. Although the reader is not able to delve into the mind of the angel and see his thoughts, it is easy to imagine how someone would feel if they were in a strange place, locked in a small chicken coop, and looked upon as a sideshow. In the Metamorphosis , Gregor Samsa was also locked in a small space for several months. Although he was in a familiar place, after his transition to a bug, he was looked upon by his family as a stranger. He became more and more isolated as the story went on both from his family and his humanity. Although the angel and Gregor were both nonhuman and experienced several months of isolations, they were very different. The angel was described as an old scruffy man with very large wings. Gregor on the other hand was a human man that had completely turned into a bug. There were no physical human characteristics to Gregor once he had turned into a large cockroach. The other characters in the stories also treated the Gregor and the old man very differently. The people in The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings , seemed to be a lot more fascinated by the angel than scared of him. People wanted to see the angel and came from all over and even paid money to do so. In The Metamorphosis , Gregor s family was terrified of him and kept him locked up in his room until he died. Another major difference between the two characters was that in the end of The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings , the angel was freed from the coop, gained his strength ... One day, you are going around doing what you do on a normal basis, when suddenly you see a giant object coming towards the ground a few hundred miles away from you. Then suddenly, it goes black as gases block out all light except for one light coming rapidly towards you. Other dinosaurs are running away from the light as you start following them. You look behind you to see the light is quickly catching up to you as suddenly it catches you. You feel immense pain and then you are dead. I believe that the mass extinction of the dinosaurs sixty five million years ago was caused by an asteroid ten kilometers wide striking just off of the coast of the Yucatan peninsula, that caused smoke to block out the sun and for fireballs to shoot across the sky. About 65 million years ago, an asteroid is said to have crashed off the coast of the Yucatan peninsula. This crash is what some scientists believe to be the reason the dinosaurs went extinct. The first to believe that impact was the cause of the extinction were the father son duo of Luis and Walter Alvarez. They think that because of the crash the sun was blocked out by dense clouds of dust. Without the help of the flour industry you probably wouldn t of been able to eat those items. The flour industry has been around for many years. It s a big part of history and still plays a very important role. The flour industry started at least two hundred years ago. The flour industry is still very important today. The start of the flour industry was very small. However the reason the flour industry was very small was that it was just the beginning of it, and many people did not know how profitable it would be. Another reason it was so small was that many people did not know if it was going to be a waste of money, because it was very expensive to pay for everything. In order to make this a successful industry the flour industry would need many employees such as farmers, railroad workers, machinists who tended to the large machines, barrel makers, packers who caught flour after it was poured off of the assembly line. Without enough farmers selling wheatto the flour companies or them having farmers that worked there they didn t have as much wheat to make the flour. The admirable features I see in Kehinde Wiley s work in addition to these is the fantasy elements that are incorporated. These features are best exhibited in his piece, Bound . The workis a bronze sculpture that stands approximately four feet tall and two and half feet wide. The composition is inviting as it includes busts of three identical women that have African descent features that are placed on a rounded triangle base. The expressions on all of the facesare of a staring and wondering nature that have a nature of regality as their faces are turned to the right at an approximate forty five degree angle as their all have their back facing each other to form a guard of the leaves the a laid on their base. The bodies are cut organically as it rounds off from shoulder to shoulder, just enough to form the upper torso to see the corset like dress that encompass the figure. Expanding ... • 17. The Perceptions Of Symbolism In William Shakespeare s The... This poem can be interpreted from many perspectives. In the beginning, the reader might conclude it is all a dream, however you learn the bird is always present and does not leave. Most of the poem is told in the past tense, but we read the bird is still around in the present tense, days or months later. A dream would not last this long. It is also possible it is indeed a hallucination, and the speaker s madness is so deep the illusion is permanent. Maybe he actually saw a raven one night. However, even if it was a real bird, it would not sit in one place for such a long period of time, and coincidentally talk. The speaker tells of his attempts to ease his sorrow by reading at candlelight. We sense he is weak from his struggle of enduring a great loss. The speaker s surroundings are also described as bleak and dismal. The thought of a chamber at midnight has a dark and mysterious connotation. Ironically, the thought of a small room is a safe haven for the speaker, in comparison to the spooky world outside: Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing (25). There are several symbols present in The Raven. One thought is the raven represents the soul of Lenorecoming back to haunt him. The raven is not of this world, perhaps a demon or spiritual creature, a messenger from the dead. The speaker asks the raven to bring Lenore back, Tell this sould with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,/ It shall class a saited maiden whom the angels name Lenore (93 94). There is also a sense the speaker is ridden by guilt for something. Perhaps he wronged Lenore and her soul comes back to torment him for it. Maybe he even killed her and Lenore is punishing him with his own immortality. She wants him to know the pain of being lonely and insane forever in her retribution. The bird watches him suffer, but does nothing but speak in order to increase the suffering. The raven inserts himself into the story, only so far, just enough to move the story along, to essentially manipulate it. The horror keeps the speaker from leaving his study. The repetitive knocking goes one and on like a sign of endless guilt, so much so, it makes him incoherent. Lenore wants him to suffer endlessly and she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well don t, because they are two very different types of gases. Natural gas and Gasoline are considered fossil fuels to most scientists because it is believed they were formed from the remains of sea animals and plants that died 200 400 million years ago. These sea animals were then covered by layers of sediment and rock over time which caused them to become buried deeper and deeper, until enormous amounts of pressure and heat turned them into oil and gas. Scientists may also measure the gravitational pull of rock masses deep within the earth, yet the most widely used and effective way of finding Natural gas is by drilling down through the layers of sedimentary rock to reach the rock formations that contain oil and gas deposits. After natural gas comes out of the ground, it goes to a processing plant where it is cleaned of impurities and separated into its various components. Now, the type of natural gas that goes into automobiles is called Liquefied Natural Gas, or LNG. The process for making LNG starts the same way as producing natural gas, except the natural gas is cooled to 260 degrees Fahrenheit. By doing this, the natural gas changes into LNG and its volume is reduced 600 times. Another exceptional way Natural gas is found is by 3 D and 4 D seismic imaging. This technique uses powerful technology from computers to help determine accuracy in whereas to drill. Another technique used to find natural gas is called Hydraulic fracturing. . • 19. Essay On College Sports When it comes to the topic of college athletics, most of us will readily agree that college sports are a great opportunity to go to college for someone who otherwise would not be able to attend. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of whether colleges need to focus more on learning over athletics. Whereas some are convinced that sports can lower academic standards for admission just to play a sport, others maintain that collegesports bring in lots of extra revenue and help students get a quality educationat a price they can afford to pay. While sports can increase revenue and attention, colleges are made to further students education and prepare them for the career path they have chosen. Universities nowadays are almost built completely around sports. Athletics haul in billions of dollars annually for universities and draw in crowds of over 100,000 people for only a single game. When student athletes get enrolled in more basic, easy classes and make good grades, it makes it look as if they are putting as much work as the more accomplished students. Scholarships offered by these schools can also put non athletes at a disadvantage due to the athlete receiving special benefits that a plain student with the same grades would not otherwise receive. If this happens, it shows that colleges truly do prioritize athletics over academics. Though college sports are extremely enjoyable and profitable for universities, education should be prioritized over athletic participation and there should not be any lowered standards for student athletes. The main focus of college is to make it to one s career, not to make it to a professional sports league. The Universal Law Of Nature The Formula of the Universal Law (of Nature) is the first formulation of the categorical imperative in Kant s Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals, in which he proposes to act as if the maxim of your action were to become through your will a universal law of nature. (Kant, 421) For example, telling the truth is considered a universal law. However, many skeptics argue that it is illogical because of human behavior, we as a society are put into dire situations in which lying is necessary to protect life. I will argue that the categorical imperative is an ideal for humanity that has been deeply misunderstood and is valid in relation to the Kingdom of Ends formula. During the Nazi era, many were subjected to their religious beliefs and citizens were being asked whether or not he or she were a Jew. In a hypothetical response, due to the nature of the question, if you were to say yes, you would then be executed under the law of a harsh dictator. It is obvious to say that, the duty to preserve your own life would be threatened in regards to the murderer asking the question. We can infer that although lying is morally wrong in regards to the categorical imperative, it is not wrong to the murderer who is not conforming to the moral requirements. Therefore, we shall look into the necessary moral requirements for categorical imperative to be a reasonable obligation for us to follow. Though on the surface it is filled with hatred and injustice, there are a lot more complex interactions once thoroughly examined. The U.S, once a colony of the Europeans, eventually grew into the strong standing nation that it is today. Meanwhile the original inhabitants, the Native Americans, often received the aggression and oppression of this growing nation, but they weren t the savages the U.S. claimed them to be. In fact, the IroquoisConfederacy was the main influence of the U.S Constitution. This paper will discuss the differences as well as the similarities, which are thought to be controversial, between these two historical documents. The difference between the two groups has been very apparent for the hundreds of years they cohabited. For the Native Americans everything about the American culture clashed greatly with their own beliefs and systems within their own community. An example would be how their community was mainly led by the idea of equality and a voice for everyone, no matter how young or old. According to Grinde s analysis, Iroquois political philosophy was transmitted through the social education of the young and power [was] equally distributed male and female, young and old [rather] than in European American society (236). It became clearly evident to Pierre Jules Hetzel, Verne s publisher, that a scene involving the destruction of a Russian warship by a Pole would result in severe political ramifications. Hetzel feared that destroying a Russian warship in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea could anger the Russian government and produce some form of retaliation. It should be noted that France had been in opposition of Russia in the Crimean War, which came to a conclusion in 1856. But [Scotty] Wilson is convinced that de Monge adhered to the design philosophy espoused by Antoine de Saint ExupГ©ry, the beloved French author and World War II P 38 pilot: Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. An example of this philosophy was the removal of a conventional canopy (the glass enclosure around the pilot). Most fighter aircraft at the time were built with the engine in the nose just behind the propeller. To allow the pilot to see past the engine, these fighters were built with raised canopies that sat on top of the fuselage. But having these extra bulges increases drag. Bugatti got around this by putting the pilot in the nose of the aircraft, and moving the engines. The engines were put behind the pilot and a system of drive shafts powered the propellers. After the designs were mostly finalized, construction began. The airplane was built in Paris in the second floor of a furniture shop. The frame and skin of the airplane were made almost entirely out of wood, despite the difficulties involved with shaping wood into rounded shapes. Usually, body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. American Art During The Great Depression American Art during the Great Depression and before World War II sought to rebrand and rebuild a broken and desperate nation. In colonies around the country, artists banded together to study and support one another, and U.S. government programs of the WPA, FAP, and FSA provided opportunities for artists to create public works on a scale never seen before in this country. Like the LDS Church Welfare program begun at the same time, these art initiatives revived the individual s dignity in the form of opportunity. The public, too, wanted new art that reflected the turmoil of the country. The nation was hurting, and from this crucible of suffering emerged a body of artwork that documented the common man and woman rural and urban, North and South, the haves and the have nots. Distinct from the romanticized landscapes of the frontier and portraits of wealthy Easterners that proceeded the period, this was art that mattered: it was aimed squarely to uplift and ennoble a battered public. One of the WPA era artists of distinction, whose award winning paintings and prints were exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Corcoran Gallery, New York World s Fair, Whitney Museum of American Art, and in galleries in New York, Washington, D.C., St. Louis, San Francisco, and is now in the permanent collections of the National Gallery, the Smithsonian, Carnegie Museum of Art, and St. Louis Art Museum, among others, is Joseph Paul Vorst. • 45. The Supreme Court Struck Down The Mccain Feingold Act The demons of a misinterpreted judicial review have corrupted the legislature, the courts, and our political process. In 2010, the Supreme Court struck down the McCain Feingold Act as unconstitutional. The landmark Citizens United v Federal Elections Commission decision ruled that political spending is a form of free speech and corporations have license to contribute exorbitant amounts to politicians. Citizens United ensures denies the voices of citizens as representatives are beholden to outside interests rather than their constituency. I, Justice John B. Gibson, hold that the power of judicial reviewis too widely interpreted and, to keep government officials accountable, must be vested in the masses to rediscover some twinge of our once budding representative democracy. The Supreme Court often oversteps its perceived legal sovereignty when using judicial review. Article III of the Constitution solely vests the courts the judicial power of the United Statesnever mentioning the power of judicial review. The judiciary s duty, according to the law of the land, is to interpret the laws, not scan the authority of the lawgiver (Gibson, J.). The judiciary has not followed a strict interpretation of the constitution; rather, it has encroached on the power of the legislative branch and the sanctity of the separation of powers. However, Garcia Marquez, in A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings , cloaks his tale for children in a dreamlike quality conveyed purely through symbolism.
