Rhetorical Devices In Essays
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of rhetorical devices in essays is undoubtedly a challenging
endeavor. The task demands a nuanced understanding of language, persuasive techniques, and
the ability to dissect and analyze written discourse effectively. Rhetorical devices add layers of
complexity to the writing process, requiring the author to not only recognize them but also to
comprehend their purpose and impact on the reader.
Delving into this topic necessitates a comprehensive exploration of various rhetorical devices
such as ethos, pathos, logos, metaphors, similes, and many more. It involves deciphering the
subtle ways in which writers employ these devices to sway opinions, evoke emotions, and
enhance the overall persuasiveness of their arguments. The writer must navigate through a
myriad of examples, illustrating how these devices contribute to the rhetorical strategy of the
essay.
Moreover, the challenge lies in striking a balance between theoretical analysis and practical
application. It's not enough to merely identify rhetorical devices; the essay should demonstrate
an understanding of their real-world implications and how skilled writers strategically deploy
them for persuasive purposes. This requires a keen eye for detail, critical thinking, and the ability
to articulate complex ideas in a coherent and engaging manner.
The difficulty further escalates as one grapples with the task of organizing the essay effectively.
Crafting a seamless structure that allows for a logical flow of ideas while showcasing a profound
understanding of rhetorical devices demands both skill and finesse. The writer must seamlessly
weave together examples, analysis, and insights to provide a compelling and insightful
exploration of the topic.
In essence, writing an essay on rhetorical devices in essays is akin to navigating a literary
minefield where every word and structure choice bears significance. It's an intellectual challenge
that calls for a deep appreciation of language, rhetoric, and persuasive communication.
For those seeking assistance in unraveling the complexities of rhetorical devices or any other
essay topic, a valuable resource is HelpWriting.net. There, similar essays and a plethora of

The Eternal City And Her Empire
Michael Miller
Extended Essay
(Lack of title page)
Word count: 2594
Introduction
The Eternal City and her empire, spanning at its peak from chilly Britain to
sweltering Egypt, did not spring from glory (Nelson). Her legions were not born,
trained, and blooded as professionals, or as the legends that they came to be; nor
were her architects and engineers blessed by providence with the talent that has kept
Rome standing for more than two thousand years. It indeed rings true when said or
heard that Rome was not carved out from her seven hills; not built; not fought for
nor killed for in a day. Her legacy was painstakingly written with the lives of
millions, and the many victories of her army were learned and prepared for through
just as many losses.
It was not intrinsic ability that conquered all of the Mediterranean coast and lands
beyond, but cunning, the ability to adapt when beaten, to recognize superior tactics
and to outwit them, to learn from other cultures and militaries, and most importantly,
to get back up off the ground when conquered and hit back harder than ever before.
The empire created by the sword, lived by the sword, and died by the sword,
wielded by one of the most dynamic and influential militaries in the history of the
world.
The research question of this extended essay is, To what extent did the Roman
military adapt and change as a product of warfare and contact with other cultures,
from the tribal days of Rome to the end of the Republic? Though her
Work Is Calculated As Force X Distance
Pg 377: Answer 1: Exerting a force does not imply that work is done. Work is
calculated as Force x Distance. Work is said to be done on an object when the force
on the object causes the object to move some distance. Ife the object does not move,
no work is done immaterial of how much force is exerted. There are many situations
when force is exerted but work is not done. For example, if you hold a piece of wood
while helping in a project, effort is done to hold the wood in place, but since the
force doesn t cause the wood to move, work is not said to be done. The force has to
be in the direction of motion to require work to be done. Answer 2: The formula for
calculating work is: Work (J) = Force (N) x Distance (m) Thus, the amount of work
done can be determined by multiplying Force with Distance. Answer 3: Here two
scenarios are given. a.Force of 2N moves an object 3 meters: Here work is calculated
as: W = F x D = 2N x 3m = 6 Nm (6 Joules) b.Force of 3N moves an object 2 meters:
Here work is calculated as: W = F x D = 3N x 2m = 6 Nm (6 Joules) Thus, in both
cases, the work done is same, i.e. 6 Joules. Answer 4: Here, we need to move 5 large
cans of paint from basement to the second floor. Let us assume that the Force for
lifting one can is 1N and the height of one floor is 1m. Thus, the below two scenarios
are taken as: a.When all the cans are lifted and taken to second floor all at once, the
calculation for work done is: W = 5N (5 cans each of 1N) x 2m (2 floors each
Theseus Character Analysis
Characterize the figure of Theseus.
Introduced as a conqueror...greater than any other beneath the sun, ThesГ«us, the
wise and chivalrous lord Athens, is a merciful and noble duke (Chaucer 24). As a
wise and noble leader, ThesГ«us, with a heart of pity, mends the ailments of his
people, as he [is] a true knight. (26).
How does Theseus treat the mourning women who ask for help against the tyrant
Creon? ThesГ«us mercifully agrees to to get vengeance on the tyrant Creon, who
[set] his dogs to eat the women s husbands instead of burying them. Theseus mercy
did not reach so far, as he went to Thebes to fight and slay Creon manfully, like
knight, / [i]n open war (26 27).
How are the knights, Palamon and Arcita, introduced into the ... Show more content

Arcita, now released, feels as though he [is] in the worse prison, now, and more
forlorn than before because of the absence of the sight of Emily, who now can only
be seen by Palamon, in prison no longer, but in paradise.
7. What is the situation of each knight at the close of Part One? What formal
question is asked at the end of the first part of the Knight s Tale? At the end of part
one, Arcita leaves for Thebes, exiled forever from Athens and distraught over never
seeing his love again, while Palamon still lies in prison, desolate without the
company of his cousin, but still able to regale at the sight of Emily. The question
Who has the worse, Arcita or Palamon? allows the mind to wonder which fate is
worse? Never seeing your beloved, but living as a freeman, or imprisoned till death,
but able to see the face or your love.
8. Provide evidence for any two characteristics of a romance evident so far. Refer to
the prezi. A romance requires the telling of a true story in remote places and times.
The Knight s Tale begins with the lines Once upon a time, to retell the old events of
Theseus in the ancient city of Athens (24). The Knight s tale meets the requirement of
a medieval romance in the first sentence, as it opens with a tale of a far off land in
ancient times. Idealized aristocratic conduct, another requirement a medieval
romance must meet, becomes present
Knox Vs Powells
The Powells entered into a contract with Mr. Knox to purchase his home. Mr. Knox
did not reveal any defects about the home to the Powells during their brief visit to
the home and claimed to have no knowledge of any defects that would affect the
value or marketability of the home. The Powells claim that Mr. Knox should have
disclosed the hazardous soil and the loud parties across the street. Is Mr. Know
liable for defects that he claims to have no knowledge of? The Powells were
looking to move to Madison and flew down to the city to view the home for sale by
Mr. Knox. Mr. The broker that the Powells used to find the home was there to meet
the Powells for a tour of the home and so was Mr. Knox. The Powells claim to not

But the law has evolved to where the seller has to disclose material, latent defects
that they are aware of pertaining to the home that is being sold. Failure to disclose
defects is a part of the evolution of the law. Under failure to disclose, if the seller is
found o have known about a material defect, not disclosed the defect, and the buyer
relies on the seller s word to their detriment, the seller is found to be liable to failure
to disclose. For example, in Johnson v. Davis, 480 So. 2d. 625, the Johnson s know
of the leaky roof in the home that they were selling to the Davises, but the
represented the home as if there were no defects. The Courts rules in the Davises
favor because the Johnsons had a duty to disclose defects that are material so that
the buyer will not rely detrimentally on them. The same rule applies in the Powell v.
Knox case. The current case distinguishes from the Johnson v. Davis case because
Mr. Knox testified that he had no knowledge of the contaminated soil in the
backyard, because he and his late wife never attempted to plant veggie only
flowers. He also testified that his hearing is not that best, which prohibited him
from hearing the parties across the street. The jury found that Mr. Knox was not
had liable for failure to disclose due to Mr. Knox not having prior knowledge of the
defects and the Powells willingness to overlook the issue for the chandelier in Mr.
Knox s
One Name Two Fates And The Other Wes Moore
People make decisions everyday without knowing the consequences from them.
The Other Wes Moore One Name Two Fates written by Wes Moore is a memoir
that explains how your future can be determined by the choices you make in your
life. Both Wes Moore`s grew up without their fathers. Wes Moore(the author) grew
up fatherless because his father had passed away from an allergic reaction that
affected the epiglottis that caused him to suffocate. Likewise, The other Wes Moore
grew up not really knowing his father. Both of their mothers were always working
so hard to make sure their families were stable, but Mary(the other wes moore s
mother`s) chances lessened when her Pell Grant was taken away from her so she was
unable to complete her education at Johns Hopkins University. Due to these... Show

Wes attended an all white private school called Riverdale, he struggled because he
felt out of place. Eventually wes(the author) started to go to school irregularly. Wes
was in a constant reminder that he was much poorer than the kids at his school. So
wes would go back to his old neighborhood and hang out with his old friends instead
of going to school. Wes was an all round trouble maker from; Tagging on the streets
to punching his sisters Shani and Nikki. His mother Joy, finally had enough with
wes getting into trouble so with the help of his grandparents she sent him to
military school at Valley Forge. Wes hated the military school so much that he tried
to escape multiple times. One night his Sergeant, Austin had given him a map that
would help him escape and when wes tried to escape, he followed the map
precisely and ended at dead end, that is when he realized the map was a fake. Wes
was caught and brought back to Captain Hills office and was granted one phone call
to his mother. After Wes talked to his mother wes continued to attend Valley
Finding Dory Case Study

Hi, I m Dory! I suffer from short term m m memory loss (Stanton and MacLane,
2016). These are the first words spoken by the title character of the Disney Pixar film
Finding Dory. Dory is a friendly, outgoing blue tang, but she suffers from anterograde
amnesia. She has difficulty retaining new information in her short term memory.
When she is first introduced in the 2003 film Finding Nemo, she immediately forgets
what she is doing, who she is talking to, and what she was talking about. She can
hold most of the new information for a few seconds, but as soon as there is a lull in
conversation or something distracts her from what she is doing, she becomes
confused and sometimes disoriented. She has difficulty remembering names,

They had concerns about Dory s survival ability and did their best to prepare her
for life. They laid out seashells in a path to their home, taught her songs about
survival, and made her rehearse her catchphrase I suffer from short term memory
loss, all in an effort to help her stay safe. Despite their precautions, Dory s mother
and father still feared for her future. One scene showed them talking late at night,
with her mother in tears, asking, Do you think she s... that she can make it on her
own? (Stanton and MacLane, 2016). As if to prove her mother s point, while
attempting to bring a purple shell to her parents, Dory is swept away by the
undertow and taken out to sea. Her parents must then rely on the hope that their
teaching and rehearsing survival mechanisms would be enough to keep her alive
until they can be reunited. They spend the next several years building a new home
with shell paths to wait for her. Dr. Baxendale pointed out, the frustration of the fish
around her with her constant repetition accurately reflects the feelings of people
who live with amnesic patients (BBC, 2004). Her parents loved her, but trying to
take care of an amnesic child is stressful, as the film showed. Jenny and Charlie
chose to hope that their daughter would be safe and come back to them, but their
fears for her were also taking their
Using Volunteer Sampling From Within Leeds Sixth Form
College
METHOD
SAMPLING
To collect a large sample I used volunteer sampling from within Newcastle Sixth
Form College. Participant forms were handed out to every tutorial class (equivalent to
registration) within the college to make sure that every student is presented with the
opportunity to take part in the study. This allowed me to have a population of over
500 students to sample from. Once the volunteers had submitted their interest, I
planned to then try to make the sample more representative of the national
population. However, this was unfortunately not possible for two reasons. The first
is that the sample would consist almost entirely of students aged between 15 and 20.
Secondly, the final sample size was too small to try and make it ... Show more content

A repeated measures design was not possible as randomly assigning different bands
each session would have created random and most likely insignificant results.
Although I did not intend to use a matched pair design, the fact that the participants
are very similar reduces the extraneous variables to less than that of a normal
independent measures experiment.
PROCEDURE
The procedure for the BEM was standardised to ensure that extraneous variables
(experimenter variables) would not impact on the reliability of the results. The
standardised experiment included how to set the environment, how to prescribe
bands to each participant, as well as all other factors involved in the experiment.
The participants were first asked to complete a questionnaire before their first
session about how they had been feeling and if any external factors may have been
affecting them. They would then be asked to complete a consent form so that the
auditory prescriptions could begin. The participant would be asked to sit on any
chair in a room which only contained five chairs in a quincunx pattern. Once the
participant was seated, I would assist with and confirm the blindfold was working.
At this point, they would be told to please relax, and give me a sign if you feel
uncomfortable. I ll be in the room while the sound is playing, and if you hear any
Analysis of four types of conflict in John Steinbeck s...
In John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath, the journey of the Joad family is riddled
with conflict. The family experiences all of the four major types of conflicts: man
vs. himself, man vs. society, man vs. nature, and man vs. man. In the case of The
Grapes of Wrath, man represents the Joad family as a single unit. They experience
conflict within the family itself, with the society they are coming from as well as the
one they are going to, and with nature and the elements. The man vs. man conflict is
usually just a more specific example of one of the other areas of conflict.
The most prevalent conflict in the novel is man vs. society. The first example is the
Joads being forced off their land in Oklahoma. The corporations are becoming ...

The next big loss the family suffers is Noah leaving while the family is staying at the
river. Ma, I got somepin to tell ya. Noah he went on down the river. He ain t a goin
on (294). This solidifies the solid decline of the family state of the Joads. Family s
fallin apart (294).
The final place the man vs. himself conflict arises is in the case of the blacklist.
Tom s natural instinct is to become a leader, and lead the people to revolt against
the way the society is working in the west. When the man Tom meets at the camp
tells him that if he does that, he will be blacklisted, in which case he won t be able
to get work anywhere, and his family could quite possibly starve. Well, you jus
open your trap about us folks getting together, an you ll see. They take your pitcher
an send it all over. Then you can t get work nowhere. An if you got kids (336). This
represents a man vs. himself conflict because Tom has to resist his instincts to start a
revolt, and just lay low.
The man vs. man conflict is usually a representations of a different conflict. In The
Grapes of Wrath, the people the Joad family has conflicts with are usually some sort
of personifications of another area of conflict, for example, society. When the Joads
are staying at the hooverville, and Tom and Jim Casy attack the police officer, they
aren t attacking him because they have a disagreement with the man himself as much
as because that police officer
Mythological Allegory Of The Matrix
Some of the most obvious examples of mythological allegory in The Matrix are
associated with the characters themselves. Mythological allegory pointing to
Christianity is undeniable in the character and activities of Neo. His given name is
Thomas A. Anderson. Thomas is also the name of Jesus disciple who tended to doubt;
thus the cultural nickname, Doubting Thomas . Neo doubted everyone and
seemingly each situation he encountered; he especially doubted his role as The One.
His surname, Anderson, traced to it rudimentary form, means Son of Man, which was
Jesusfavorite term for himself. Consider also that Neo is an anagram of one, and as
a prefix it means new, recent, or in a modern form. In the text, Neo becomes a new
man, The One. His choice between the red and blue pills is reminiscent of the
choice always available to Adam and Eve, the choice to eat the fruit from the tree
of the knowledge of good and evil. The choice to eat the fruit would be an
irreversible decision, one that would change the course of history. Accessing the
knowledge of good and evil also evokes, what some in Christendom call, the age of
accountability, the age at which one knows the difference between good and evil
and therefore much make a choice serve one or the other. Jesus is said to have
grown in wisdom, stature, and in the favor of both Godand humanity. Neo
experiences a similar messianic growth process. When his physical body is rescued
from the pod, it is atrophied and full of needle
Descriptive Essay On A Restaurant
Smell As I walked in the door, aromas flooded my nostrils; my day as a waitress
had begun. Immediately, bacon sizzling on the grill grabbed my attention then
resumed filling the kitchen and the street air outside with a salted, hickory twist.
Taking a deep breath and opening the door to the waitress station revealed a pot of
freshly brewed coffee, its creamy perfume tangled with the bacon from the kitchen
had encased the small town diner. My first customer was an older man. The stench
of his breath was appalling, consisting of only the toxic odor of alcohol which
remained from a night of heavy drinking. A quick ticket, a cup of plain coffee, and
a couple sticks of fresh mint gum on the house set him on a more vibrant route;
this, of course, gave him a more tolerable fragrance for the day. Glancing out the
window, I noticed thick, black smoke billowing from the Whitewater Valley train:
its passengers exited, covering their ears to shield from the blare of the horn. As
the door opened, the dense, charcoal fog dragged in along with the new customers.
Though, the kitchen buzzed with the creation of orders before long. As my day
ended, I walked out of the diner to my junky old car. The interior reeked of fruity
strawberry and black ice air fresheners, which unsuccessfully attempted to mask the
metallic stain of rust and old gasoline. The A/C was broken, but the crisp, fresh
breeze cooled me as the sun began to wave goodnight to the woodland surrounding
the road.

The Fifth Amendment And The Rights During Arrest,
Trial,...
No matter what the crime is, the Constitution is supposed to help protect the accused
s rights during arrest, trial, and sentencing. The Sixth Amendment clearly states that
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public
trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been
committed... and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense . If the accused is
found to be guilty, the Eighth Amendment is there to protect us from the possibility
of cruel and unusual punishment. This is something as an American we all expect
and we all assume is what happens, but what if you re a minority, or have a mental
impairment and you re facing the death penalty, can you expect the same rights?
Recent studies have shown that while the use of the death penalty have gone down
over the years since it was reinstated in 1976, there is still a staggering number of
statics showing inequality in the application of its use. A law professor from the
University of Iowa, David C. Baldus and two colleagues published a study not long
after the reinstatement of the death penalty in 1976 (Dow, 2011). In this study it
looked at over 2,000 homicide cases just within Georgia alone beginning in 1972,
what they found was startling (Dow, 2011). Baldus found that black defendants were
1.7 times more likely to be given the death penalty than white defendants and those
who murdered white victims were actually 4.3 times more apt to be
Infectious Diseases And Its Effects On The Health Of
Chickens
Introduction
This written report will cover both infectious and non infectious diseases and their
effects on the health of chickens. Causes of each disease will be explained along
with symptoms and clinical signs that may occur during the onset of disease. This
report will explain the treatment and prevention for the diseases chosen and any
management strategies in place to control the disease.
Infectious Diseases
Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV) (Avian pneumoencephalitis)
Newcastle Disease Virus is an infectious diseaseof poultry and fowl caused by the
virus, Paramyxovirus serotype 1 (Foster and Smith, 2017a); (Alexander, 2000). The
severity of this virus depends on the susceptibility of the host and how virulent the
virus is. Chickens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Treatment, Prevention and Control
There is currently no treatment for Newcastle Disease Virus, however in some
cases hyper immune serum injections have been used on exposed birds that are not
showing symptoms (Foster and Smith, 2017a) and antibiotics are occasionally
given to prevent secondary infections (Jacob, 2015a). Due to NDV being highly
contagious and severe it is classed as a notifiable disease, therefore any bird
showing symptoms of this disease must be reported to the Animal and Plant Health
Agency where action will be taken to prevent the disease from spreading (DEFRA,
2014b).
Vaccinations can be administered to protect birds against clinical signs and decrease
the risks of contracting the virus (CFSPH, 2016). Strict biosecurity practices and
correct husbandry are also vital in the prevention of NDV, this includes the isolation
of any outbreaks, disposal of any infected carcasses, thorough cleaning and
disinfection (Beautyofbirds, 2017); (DEFRA, 2014a).
Fowl Cholera (Avian Pasteurellosis)
Fowl cholera is a contagious bacterial disease seen in captive and wild fowls caused
by Pasteurella multocida to which domestic poultry; such as chickens, are particularly
susceptible (West, 1976b); (Christensen, 2016) causing high morbidity and mortality
and bacteraemia (OIE, 2016). Overcrowding, climate and stress are a few known
environmental factors said to have an effect the severity of the
Australia Is Experiencing A True Predicament
Australia is experiencing a true predicament. Australians feel that the nation does not
have a clear nation identity. This failure to do so has left the country in a state of
discontent. If a national identity is an idea constructed by modern nation states to
identify real or imagined commonalities in order to unite a population (Flayhive
2007). Australiais missing a national identity, as the country has yet to construct its
own national identity. This lack of a clear national identity can largely be attributed
to the youth of the country. The youth of the country and lack of a recognisable
national identity does not mean Australia does not have one. The country s national
identity comes from the shared core values and experiences of the... Show more

A clear national identity leads to a strong sense of national pride and patriotism
(Hauss 2003), which in turn leads to higher rates of happiness, cohesion and stability
among the country s inhabitants (Write and Reeskens 2011). A lack of a clear
national identity causes displaced people to quickly become isolated in a new
homeland, as the country was unable to present the displaced person with a sense of
belonging. This sense of belonging is something more than just residence or vague
opportunity or even welfare benefits, (Daley 2007). Without a clear national identity,
a country while not necessarily in a state of active distress does feel slightly uneasy at
the thought of having nothing clear and tangible to show to not only the inhabitants
of the country, but also the world. Australia is one such country; the country has not
invented a clear national identity. A national identity is just an invention; it is an
important invention that symbolises a country and everything it stands for. In order
to signify her growth as a nation, Australia needs to invent a clear national identity
that all Australians can feel proud standing behind.
Australia s lack of a clear national identity can largely be attributed to the country s
youth as a nation. The country only officially became a united nation in 1901 after
federation. Australia is a young country that is
Cosmological Argument
Examine the cosmological argument for the existence of God.
The cosmological argument is an a posteriori argument which intends to prove that
there is an intelligent being that exists; the being is distinct from the universe,
explains the existence of the universe, and is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent
and omnibenevolent. The basic notion of cosmological arguments is that the world
and everything in it is dependent on something other than itself for its existence. It
explains that everything has a cause, that there must have been a first cause, and that
this first cause was itself uncaused.
Many philosophers have explored the cosmological argument, including Aquinas, in
much depth, through his Five Ways in the Summa Theologica.... Show more content

Frederick Copleston was a priest, and historian of philosophy who supported Aquinas
rejection of infinite regress. Copleston reformulated the argument by concentrating
on contingency, which he discussed in depth during a radio debate with Bertrand
Russell in 1947. Copleston, like Aquinas, argued that there are things in the universe
which are contingent, for example, us we would not have existed if our parents had
not met. All things in the world are similar to this, nothing in the world is self
explanatory, and everything depends on something else for its existence. Therefore,
we are forced to search for an external explanation. The explanation must lead us to a
cause which is self explanatory, i.e. one which contains within itself, the reason for its
own existence a necessary being. The conclusion must be God. Copleston argues that
if we don t accept the existence of an unmoved mover , like Aquinas suggested, there
is no explanation for the universe at all. Copleston believes the universe is gratuitous
without a first cause, because without an explanation, nothing has meaning
Everything is gratuitous. This garden, this city, and myself; when you suddenly
realise it, it makes you feel sick and everything begins to drift... that s nausea .
Leibniz, who wrote On the Ultimate Origination of Things , also supported the
cosmological argument; his argument is sometimes called the argument from
Olmec Culture Essay
The mysterious Olmec civilization prospered in the Pre Classical (Formative)
Mesoamerica from c. 1200 BCE to c. 400 BCE and is considered the forerunner of
all subsequent Mesoamerican cultures, like the Aztecs and the Mayans.
The Olmec culture flourished along Mexico s gulf coast from 1200 to 400 B.C.
Known best today for their carved colossal heads, the Olmecs were an important
early Mesoamerican civilization which had influenced later cultures such as the
Mayans and the Aztecs. One of the most important archaeological sites associated
with this culture is San Lorenzo. There was a great city there: its original name has
been forgotten in time. Considered by archaeologists to be the first true
Mesoamerican city, San Lorenzo was a very important center of Olmec commerce,
religion and political power during its popularity. San Lorenzo was first occupied
around 1500 B.C., making it one of the oldest cities in the Americas. It housed three
early settlements, referred to as the OjochГ (1500 1350 B.C.), the BajГo (1350 1250
B.C.) and the ChichГЎrras (1250 1150 B.C.).These cultures are considered pre
Olmec and are largely identified by pottery types. The ChicharrГЎs period has
characteristics identified as Olmec characteristics. The city reached its peak in the
period from 1150 to 900 B.C. before falling into decline: this is referred to as the
San Lorenzo era. There may have been some 13,000 people at San Lorenzo during
the peak of its power (Cyphers). The city then went into decline and entered the
Nacaste period, lasting 900 to 700 B.C.: the Nacaste did not have the skills of their
forebears and added little to the progress of art and culture. The site was
abandoned before the Palangana era (600 400 B.C.) began: later, inhabitants
contributed small mounds and a ball court. The site was deserted for more than a

Christy chose this industry from listening to her inner voice and needs. She devoted
herself to her career and passed the peak time of fertility. She was trying to find a

discussion with Christy s friends about fertility treatment inspired Christy brought her
interest in digging in the fertility industry. At that time, some medical research center

Extend Fertility offered storage services to their clients by partnering with a secure
cryopreservation facility. Also, the company promoted its businessby educating
potential customers via its programs and activities. Extend Fertility generate profit
from egg freezing product, license, and consumers service fee and payment from
fertility clinics. The company collected ongoing storage fee and about 40% of the
total cost of the procedure. The rest of money would split between medical clinics
and pharmaceutical. Christy expected 80% gross margin on the services provided by
the company.
The business plan with such high gross margin seems quite favorable. However, the
company s concept has some potential problems. The company did not mention how
to minimize the risk of hurting women s health when they proceeded to collect their
eggs. Furthermore, the business plan did not include the best use time of the storage
eggs. If the eggs were expected to keep in years, the quality of eggs could not be
ensured. Finally, they did not offer a strong report to state the potential issues of
using freezing eggs. Would the technique influence the health of babies?

Ordinary Resurrections, By Jonathan Kozol
The novel Ordinary Resurrections, written by Jonathan Kozol, focuses on an area
in south New York called the Bronx, which is a poor community composed of
mainly African American and Hispanic people. The author, Jonathan Kozol,
focuses the novel specifically on the children who live in a section of the South
Bronx called Mott Haven, which is America s epicenter for the plague of pediatric
and maternal AIDS (Kozol 3) and is one of the centers of an epidemic of adult and
pediatric asthma. (Kozol 3). The people of Mott Haven do not have sufficient
access to healthcare, live in extreme poverty, and are malnourished. However,
Kozol does see some good things in Mott Haven such as the teachers at the public
elementary school. Kozol is impressed with these teachers because they strive every
day to provide education and aid to the kids of the Bronx. He believes that the
education of a person early in their life has a major impact on who they turn out to be.

education such as tutoring or private schooling. Kozol wants each and every child to

INTRODUCTION
Brazil and Mexico are two emerging markets that are becoming increasingly
prevalent and influential on the international stage. These nations share many
similarities. Both are newly industrialized developing economies, share similar
cultural and societal norms and are considered the top economies of Latin America.
Brazil and Mexico both have crumbling infrastructures in dire need of upgrades.
Despite these similarities, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has a comprehensive legal structure dividing powers among the federal, state and
municipal levels. However, its rigid and complex regulatory laws pose significant
barriers for start up businesses. In Brazil, the average time needed to start a
business is 120 days, compared to a regional average of 56.7 days. Furthermore, it
takes an average of 14 days to register property in Brazil, while the regional average
is 6.8 days. This means that on average, starting a business and registering property
in Brazil takes twice as long as it would in other Latin American and Caribbean states
(Datamonitor, 2011a). Brazil s implementation of the VAT tax system also has its
flaws; the latest Latin Tax Index designated it the worst tax regime in Latin America
(Datamonitor, 2011a).
Cultural Analysis
Brazil is a highly diverse and multicultural nation, consisting mostly of Native
Americans, Portuguese, and Africans. In the late 19th and early 20th century, many
immigrants from Italy, Germany and Japan migrated into the South American nation,
which resulted in a multicultural and multi ethnic society (Culture of Brazil, 2012).
Because Brazil was originally a Portuguese colony for nearly three centuries, many
aspects of Brazilian culture is derived from Portuguese culture. The Portuguese
language and architectural style are examples of things that indicate a strong
Portuguese influence (Culture of Brazil, 2012).
Portuguese is spoken by nearly 99%
The EpokhД“ With Respect To His Natural Attitude
What is the epokhД“ with respect to his natural attitude? EpokhД“ or bracketing is
the method to connect from the natural attitude to the phenomenological attitude. The
term derives from ancient Greek skepticism; there ought to be restraint about
judgments until the evidence is clear (Sokolowski 49). When entering the
phenomenological attitude, we suspend our belief in the natural attitude and bracket
the world and all of the objects within it (Sokolowski 49). This means that we focus
on the intentional acts and content when describing an experience that does not
depend on the existence of the object in an external world; this involves using the
first person (Beyer). In bracketing all theses are questioned; this even includes the
theses... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of these are elements of the transcendental reflection: the liberation from
naturalistic dogmatism and realization transcendental subjectivity (Zahavi 46).
Rather than leading to the abstention of the real world, this shift should be
understood as the increasing development of our field of research (Zahavi 46).
Bracketing demonstrates that the world appears and is made possible by subjectivity
(Zahavi 52). Subjectivity must be taken into account with any attempt to understand
reality; subjectivity makes appearances possible (Zahavi
Pros And Cons Of Stricter Gun Control
American society is plagued by gun violence. This year alone, there have been 307
mass shooting in America(cite). With all the mass shooting tragedies that occur
across the United States from Sandy Hook to Las Vegas to Texas and all the
innocent lives that were lost it is brutally clear that stricter gun laws are necessary
to save lives. Stricter gun control laws should be enforced in two ways; by more
thorough background checks and by making the sale of gun conversion kits
illegal. In America it is much too easy to get a weapon without background checks.
Currently, anybody can buy a weapon at a private gun show without a background
check. Gun control advocates have long identified this loophole. Also, private
individuals can sell their guns to anyone. For example, in the case of the Texas
church massacre at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Nov 5 a gun man
open fire and killed. 26 people the killer should not have had access to guns
because of his record of domestic abuse and mental health issues. These issues
were later discovered on his record from the military but the military had not sent
the record to the FBI database after he was found guilty of domestic assault a few
years earlier. A similar example happened in Orange county in 2011 where eight
people were killed. Months before the killing the wife of the shooter had filed court
documents claiming her ex husband was abusive and unstable. Neither the Texas

Porphyria s Lover And My Last Duchess
Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess were just two of Robert Browning s short
dramatic monologues. In this poem, My Last Duchess , a husband talks about a
portrait of his deceased wife. He tells how she was far too happy with everybody,
and nothing could change that. Porphyria s Lover is a short poem involving a man
and his wife, they seem to be getting along until the husband strangles her with her
own hair. These two Browning poems will be compared and contrasted in these next
few paragraphs.
To begin, both of the husbands do not have the ability to control their emotions. The
widower in My Last Duchess always believed that his wife was too happy around
other men. His duchess treated her husband and any other man, the same exact
way. The husband was very upset, and hired an assassin to kill his own loving
wife. In Porphyria s Lover the husband is so melancholy, he believes that his wife
is going to leave him. He decides that he wants his wife to be with him forever, as
the wife is being strangled with her own yellow hair. She was perfect for him, and
that s why he had to kill her to keep her his forever. Obviously, the husbands in these
poems had gone crazy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The husband from My Last Duchess already seemed to have a new wife planned

to himself. He strangled his lovely blonde wife with her long blonde hair. Neither of
the two husbands were emotionally stable and their feelings overtook their

The Discipline Of Environmental History
The discipline of Environmental History is found within various books, and many
times these books do not use this history as their only starting point. By combining a
multitude of studies and methodologies, authors explore the aspects of the
environment and nature along with human interaction to understand how they
commingle, affecting one another. In the following four books, scholars from
varying backgrounds approach environmental historyin a variety of ways in order to
prove their thesis. Their methodologies form their thought process and lead to the
structure of these books. By digging deeper into this process, revealing their
intentions, enabling readers to understand how methodology fuels the writing
process, creating an argument, and producing valuable work.
A strong cooperation lies at the heart of Lisa M. Brady s article entitled, Has
Environmental History Lost Its Way? and sets the tone for many of the following
books. She reveals that in order to study environmental history one must not
necessarily be trained in that field. Rather, a conglomeration of backgrounds can
provide insight into the study. Additionally, her article takes a materialistic approach,
suggesting that straying too far from this idea will lead to the breakdown of this
study. While this seems to be the foundation of her article, her ultimate goal is a
juxtaposition between the previous approach and the idea that expanding the field is
vital in creating a contemporary narrative. By
The Role Of Professional Training On The Community It...
Introduction The process of evaluating a program can be an arduous task requiring
systematic and dedicated planning. It is describe as, the aspect of professional
training aimed at helping to integrate research and best practices (Royce et al.,
2015). The purpose of an evaluation is to assess a program s value to the community
it serves, it s resources, and activities that enrich the learning of its members (Mondisa
McComb, 2015). Proponents of STEM on the national and local levels have invested
tremendous resources to augment and grow programs that support the National
Science Foundation s three key policies regarding education evaluation. As pointed
out by Katzenmeyer, C., Lawrenz, these policies outline the needs which address key

The purpose of this paper is to use a summative evaluation process to assess the
benefits of the nCase inquiry and design based instruction (I D) program. Evaluation
Justification STEM education was designed to encourage student interest and to
prepare for a career path in STEM, research suggests that STEM related careers
generate higher compensation and financial benefits. However, the design and
composition of the STEM workforce is complex and is influenced and relies heavily
on the delivery of each STEM program. Recognizing the importance of this, this
proposed summative evaluation is geared to understand to what extent does the
inquiry and design based model used by the nCase program activities yield expected
changes and learning outcomes in participants. The evaluation will investigate
components of the nCase program that are optimally performing and should be
reproduced in future initiatives. Although the inquiry and design based instruction
methodology can be traced back to John Dewey, an American philosopher of
education reform, it has never been practiced on a wide scale in an American STEM
classroom. The impact of the nCase program poses conditions for inquiry; therefore,

ancient Egypt and how they built some of the large monuments. To begin with, in
ancient Egyptthey hadn t much wood for building so they used sun baked mud
bricks and stones, also they used the stones to build tombs and temples; in addition,
they used bricks to build castles and royal palaces; but, before they put any stone or
brick they used granite as a carcass for building. Furthermore, ancient Egyptians used
mud to build their houses after collecting it from the NileRiver and putting the mud

shed light on the significance of consulting teachers as they utilize Positive Behavior
Support (PBS), a classroom management program. In addition, they explain whether
or not PBS helps students academic engagement rise and diminishes challenging
behaviors. PBS promotes developing and establishing a safe and predictable
environment for students. In this particular study, teachers from four preschool
classrooms in one of Nevada s early childhood educationcenters attended a
presentation on PBS. Then, the teachers were instructed to implement PBS in their

It is suggested that teachers should display this schedule in their classrooms. The
schedule should use a combination of words and pictures. Most importantly, it
should be at eye level so that children can refer back to it at any time during the day.
Schedules helps students be more aware of the current activity as well as the
upcoming activities. This technique is appropriate for preschoolers, and children in a
K 3 setting because they comprehend that their day has a certain structure. Moreover,
they will utilize the schedule more than the infants or toddlers because it keeps them
on track. PBS focuses on developing a positive environment for the students. One
strategy that helps establish this type of environment is using a ratio of at least four
positive statements to every negative statement (Carter, Van Norman, 2010, p. 3).
This strategy is appropriate for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and children in K 3
setting because positive statements motivate children and reinforce appropriate
behaviors. Using positive statements, helps build self esteem and confidence in older
students.

mission to provide direct services to a new target group (women with reproductive
cancers other than breast cancer), the need for services is exponentially high. We

Beneficiaries
Women from the Simply Fight and No Age No Stage programs at UC health who
are battling gynecological cancer will benefit from this project. According to
previous PRG grant proposals, $15,000 will serve 75 85 based on a family of four.
The Simply Fight recipients receive three meals per week for their entire family for

rides to treatment. The No Age No Stage recipients receive a $3,000 stipend. These
recipients will put the stipend towards the services they feel are the most important.
The E Cargo Bike
Once the overall market has been determined, the next step is to segment the
market. I would begin with a geographic segmentation characteristic, focusing on
individuals living in urban areas. The e cargo bike has extensive storage, and the
ability to use the motor makes it easy to tow large loads without having to rely
completely on manual peddling. This makes it a great alternative to using a car in
large cities. Parking can be very expensive and inconvenient, so the e cargo bike
could also save people a great deal of money, while offering the convenience of
skipping the traffic. Not only can the bike tow physical cargo, it can also be used
to tow children, as kids bike seats can be attached to the back. Making it a great
option for parents who were not ready to give up city life and move to suburbia. The
second segmentation characteristic I would focus on is psychographic, narrowing in
on individuals who are very conscious of their environmental footprint. The Pedego
Stretch e cargo bike uses a rechargeable lithium battery with Samsung cells. Not only
is this a long lasting battery, it is a much more environmentally friendly option than
burning fuel and releasing the exhaust into the air when driving a car. The battery
should last between 2 4 years and offers a 3 year warranty, which is not only
environmentally friendly, but also economical. You will not be putting a battery into
a landfill each year, further reducing your carbon footprint. Another

Objective In this experiment, the pKa*, dissociation constant, of 2 naphthol in an
excited state was determined by measuring its fluorescence spectrum.
Procedure In this experiment, a solution of 2 naphthol in HCl and a solution of 2
naphthol in NaOH are analyzed by measuring their UV visible (obtained from the
Cary 50 spectrophotometer) and fluorescence spectrum (obtained from the PTI
fluorometer).
For detailed procedure, refer to the lab manual (J. F. WГіjcik and T. S. Ahmadi,
Experimental Physical Chemistry, 2015; p.3 5.). Some modifications of the procedure
are the concentration of 2 naphthol in both solutions is changed from 0.0001 M to
0.00005 M, and the acid/base concentration is changed from 0.100 M to 0.0100 M.
Data 2 naphthol has a molecular weight of 144.17 g/mol, with a density of 1.22 g
/cm3. The melting point of 2 naphthol is in the range of 121 to 123 В°C. The stock
solution of 2 naphthol has a concentration of 1.9844E 3 M. The 2 naphthol solution
in HCl and NaOH was both prepared in 100 mL volumetric flasks using a 10 mL
transfer pipette for 2 naphthol and another 10 mL transfer pipette for either the acid
or the base. Then the solutions were diluted ten fold in new 100 mL volumetric flask
by taking 10 mL of the original solution. The excitation wavelengths of the 2
naphthol solution in HCl and in NaOH are 316 nm and 345 nm, respectively.
Results Before any calculations, the absorbance spectra of the HCl and NaOH
solutions are baseline corrected. To

1787 Executive Branch
Have you ever wondered what happened in 1787? Do you know about the U.S
constitution? Well if you don t, this will be very helpful towards you. In 1787, the
founding fathers , such as James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Hamilton,
John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin all wrote the U.S constitution. They all signed
the constitution 1787, and it was ratified on June 21, 1787. It was signed in the
Independence Hall , Philadelphia. The Founding Fathers wrote and signed the
constitution because they all wanted to create a stronger central government that
would work for the benefit of all their citizens and define rights that would be
protected by the government. They wrote it by the greeks and the romans ideas on
government along with ideas taken... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amendments of the U.S became more helpful after being ratified by Вѕ of the
state. Some amendments are ratified fast, and some take time. For example, the 27
amendment took from 1792 to 1992 to become ratified. 33 amendments to the U.S
constitution have been processed by the U.S congress and sent to the states for
ratification since the constitution was put into operation on March 4, 1787. Twenty
seven of these all ratified, are part of the constitution. The amendments are helpful in
many different ways. It helped us from obeying the law, to forming rights for people
all around the world. After the 18th amendment, congress passed the volstead act,
which sets the date for prohibition on January 17, 1920. On September 25, 1789
congress transmitted to the states legislator twelve proposed United States
amendments of which the first two dealt with congressional representation and

Auburn University Essay
In the McWhorter School of Building Science in the College of Architecture, students
have had a 100% employment rate in the two previous semesters (Nobles). This
statistic alone shows one perk Auburn University has over many other colleges.
Auburn University is the best college because it has the best job opportunities, the
best major, and the best traditions.
The job opportunities Auburn University presents is unlike any other school in the
coun try. The CEO of Apple Inc., Tim Cook, is an Auburn graduate and just did a
short segment about what it was like to be at Auburn. In the segment, he talked about
how well known of a school Auburn is not only in the United States, but all around

Auburn University has many traditions that go way back. The history behind these
tradi tions is what makes Auburn such a great atmosphere. Most of the traditions
do involve football, but some have their own meaning and were started randomly a
long time ago. Before every home football game, an eagle flies from the middle of
the field, all the way around the football stadium, and back to the middle of the
field. This is known as Eagle Flight and is meant to be a signal to all of the fans
that the football game is within minutes of starting. This tradition has been around
for almost 100 years. The most famous eagle was Tiger, who was the 6th eagle to
fly around the stadium. Tiger flew from 1986 2006, and in her last game there was
a moment of si lence for her. Now an eagle named Spirit flies around before games
and is very popular among fans because of her bright white head and tail feathers,
which is different than most bald eagles. Another tradition is the wrapping of
Toomer s Corner with toilet paper, called Rolling Toomer s. This is the most
famous tradition in all of college football. After every game that Auburn football
wins, students meet up at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and College Street.
This became popular in 1972 after Auburn beat Alabama in a close, 17 16, game.
The reason toilet paper is used is because an Auburn running back said before the big
Alabama game we re gonna beat the No. 2 out of
Symbolic Interactionism In A House
Housing prices for detached homes in the GTA have sky rocketed from what they
were a decade ago and show no signs of slowing down. With this in mind, home
buyers find it difficult to invest in a home due to their socioeconomic status, yet
they still make a personal choice to do so. The article, Toronto and area house
prices, out of reach for most (Montgomery, 2015), addresses the inflation of
housing prices but entails a very narrow lens to the identity of the home buyer.
Symbolic interactionism would analyze this issue from a micro level perspective.
The theory emphasizes the importance of an individual s subjective meanings and
how these interpretations help create their own social state of affairs (Brym R,
2013). Looking at the article from a symbolic interactionist perspective, it can be
noted Montgomery fails to explain the house is in itself a reflection of the
homeowner s individuality and desire to impress upon the public eye. Erving
Goffman would rationalize the house as a mode of presenting the homeowner in the
best possible light, this is known as dramaturgical analysis (Brym R, 2013). The
home embodies both the homeowners public roles and true selves. Notice the
privilege in owning a home is subjected to the statuses people occupy that in turn
speaks about the role sets they play, but the combination of these social influences is

The article expresses how prices for detached homes has increased rapidly compared
to rates of income. Although the author looks at how the prices impacts home buyers,
he fails to address certain facets that could have been explained using symbolic
interactionism. The identity of the home buyer was overlooked as the young couple,
disregarding peoples unique connotations they have attached to their idea of a home.
Symbolic interactionism looks to understand the mentality of the home buyer and
how it is reflected in their
Analysis Of The Movie Crash
CRASH! This was the last sound Tim Horton heard before he crashed into the
woods. His drunk body made the violent rolling of the car feel like nothing. His
mind still back at the bar, crying for a better life. He wanted this attempt to be
painless and quick, but was depressed to see his immaculated body upside down in
his turnovered car. The drunk had no more tears to shed, he had no screams to let
out; all he could do was hit his head against the seat. He wanted something to break
,but his mind made him sleep. After he woke up he started to look at his
surroundings. He was at awe at the serenity of the forest at night and the fauna that
are the denizens. He took off the seatbelt which made him fall into the surrounding

home. He soon appeared with two brown plastic chairs in one hand and in the other
he had dirty bandages and a disinfecting spray.
Sit down, I can treat it. the man commanded as he placed down the seats.
Tim sat down with great haste, wishing for the pain to go away. The old man
eventually followed.
So, tell me why on god s green earth you have this massive tear in your skin. What,
you were playing in the forest? Asked the elderly person. I.. I m Tim Horton, I
accidently drove my car into a ditch near this forest and got this. I went here to find
help. Why is your gas station here? responded Tim. The western stopped treating
and then suddenly studied Horton s face for something, but Horton didn t know
what. Well, I m Mr.Grove. I decided to live in the forest where it is quite, instead
with my kindred in the noisy city. I bought the station because it was the cheapest
close by. This station is a facade, there is only my bed, bathroom and kitchen in
there. I hunt for the food around me and drink the water from the stream near by.

Essay on The Robber Bridegroom by Eudora Welty
The Robber Bridegroom by Eudora Welty
Eudora Welty s first novel, The Robber Bridegroom, is a combination of fantasy
and reality while exploring the duality of human nature, time, and the word man
lives in. The union of legend, Mississippi history and Grimms fairy tales create an
adult dream world. Every character in the story has little insight to themselves and
how they relate to the world around them. The antics of Mike Fink, the Harps, the
bandits, and the Indians closely relate to Mississippi folklore. The blending of actual
history and pure fantasy create a much richer form of entertainment. Mike Fink was
an American frontiersman who is said to have beaten Davy Crockett in a shooting
contest. The Harpe brothers were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rosamond is looking forward to the future, to be free from her stepmother and
experience love besides that between father and daughter. The story is loaded with
cruel and horrible acts. Mike Fink tries to kill Jamie and Clement for bags of gold;
Clement s first wife dies after seeing their son thrown into boiling water by Indians,
Kentucky Thomas is killed leaving his ugly wife to marry Clement, an Indian girl
is raped and killed by Little Harp, and Rosamond is raped by Jamie. All of these
acts are overpowered, however, by the humor of the characters. The three main
characters represent clear opposites in their own characters. Rosamond is beautiful
and pure but could not tell the truth to save her life. Clement is a planter who is
restless and loves to travel. Jamie is a criminal as well as a bridegroom. Their
outside appearance can undermine the opinions of others. If being a bandit were
his breadth and scope, I should find him and kill him for sure, said he. But since in
addition he loves my daughter, he must be not the one man, but two, and I should
be afraid of killing the second. For all things are double, and this should keep us
from taking liberties with the outside world, and acting too quickly to finish things
off. All things are divided in half night and day, the soul and body, and sorrow and
joy and youth and age, and sometimes I wonder if even my own wife has not been
the one person all the time, and I loved her
The Department Of Commerce And Labor
Managing Competing Agendas
The Department of Commerce and Labor was established on February 14, 1903,
during the presidential administration of Theodore Roosevelt. Less than ten years
later it was divided into two separate entities, the Department of Commerce and the
Department of Labor, each headed by a secretary (Shuman, R. B. (2016), U.S.
Department of Commerce (DOC), Salem Press Encyclopedia). The secretary s job
was monitoring trades between the United States and other nations. An important
mandate of the Department of Commerce is to promote America s business and trade

the organizational structure of trade deals in that it will either improve efficiency or

Prescription Opioid Effects
Every individual, more or less, has had a type of surgery, whether it was major or
minor, and gone through excruciating pain. With that pain comes pills; Codeine,
Percocet, Vicodin, the usual works. The scary part about all of these drugs aren t
the surgeries you have in order to receive them, it s the fact that anyone can get
these drugs, they don t even need to have surgery or an existing medical condition.
Many people I know on a close, personal level have told me that they have gotten
drugs or had a friend who has gotten drugs via some guy or a family friend who
happens to be a doctor that fraudulently signed over a prescription. Not only is this
illegal, but it s terrifying knowing that this is going on right in front of our eyes, but...

We know, of course, that this is not the case and their recreational activities will
cause more harm than good for everybody, themselves, their families and first care
responders. Easy access to these prescription drugs is becoming so out of hand
that individuals that are actually in need of specific drugs now must go through
hours upon hours of testing to see if they are being truthful or just trying to sneak a
fast one past their medical providers for their own selfish benefit, whether it is to
misuse the drugs themselves or to illegally sell them to others. According to the
American Heart Association, even non steroidal anti inflammatory Drugs
(NSAIDs), including commonly used painkillers such as ibuprofen, can trigger or
worsen heart failure by causing sodium and fluid retention and making diuretic
medications less effective (AHA, 2016). Not many people know what these drugs
do besides alleviate their pain at times, so without this knowledge, it s no wonder
these painkillers and other prescription drugs are being so misused and abused by
today s population. In the event that someone had overdosed on said drug and had no
known previous medical history that involved interactions with it, it puts the first care
responder in an uncertain and dangerous situation that could jeopardize the victim s
life when it all could have been avoided. Now,
Food Allergies And Intolerance
The 21st century has witnessed an upswing in reported allergies in children and
adults alike. Around 3% of adults (Thalheimer 2016) and 8% of children (Gupta et.
al.). While many are medically diagnosed, advancement in the research of medical
conditions has led to unclear research and incorrect diagnoses that lead to fusion in
the definition of food allergies and intolerances. When the definition of an allergyvs
intolerance are clearly understood, the testing process becomes very clear,
especially when looking at the example of cow s milk allergies and intolerance. The
implication of false diagnoses of allergies can be very problematic.
A true food allergy involves a reaction by your immune system against a certain
substance. Specifically, when the body perceives a substance as harmful, it produces
an antibody called immunoglobulin E (Harvard Men s Health Watch). The antibodies
travel to the cells and cause the cells to release chemicals to fight off the perceived
threatening substance. These chemicals include histamine and leukotriene ((https:/
/sciencebasedmedicine.org/igg food intolerance tests what does the science say/).
The most common food allergies include shellfish, nuts, fish and eggs (Harvard Men
s Health Watch). While these foods are the most likely to cause an allergic reaction,
a reaction caused by exposure to these substances does not mean that it is a true
allergic reaction, but could simply be food intolerance.
Food intolerance is a

Federalist And Dual Federalism
The United States under the Articles of Confederation had a Federalist nation in its
truest and basest sense. Originally, the Articles united the separate states together
under an extremely weak central Congress with few powers. That left most of the
powers of government with the states, which caused many problems in terms of
regulation and protection of rights and liberties. Most states had different currencies,
taxes, protections of rights (in the individual state constitutions), and other policies
that made it difficult for the states to coexist, however, with the power in the
individual states, most policy more closely reflected the peoples of the region. When
it became clear that the Articles of Confederation were no longer working... Show

They also argued that the federal courts would be too far away from the average
citizen to provide justice, something they extended to the other federal branches of
government as well. When debating the content of the Constitution, Anti Federalists
called for a clearer articulation of the rights of the people and government, which
brought about more compromises and content in the ratified Constitution. Delaware
was the first state who voted, unanimously, to ratify the Constitution on December 7,
1787 and Rhode Island was the last state to ratify it almost three years later on May
29, 1790 (archives.gov, 2016). The document was able to go into effect earlier
because ratification only required nine votes for it from the states, which only took 10
months through New Hampshire (archives.gov, 2016). Many states who approved
ratification later did so under the requirement that the Framers added a declaration of
rights to the Constitution. Throughout the ratification process, before the first state
even ratified the Constitution and through 1790, several people wrote The Federalist
Papers under the pseudonym Publius. They were a collection of papers supporting
the ratification of the new Constitution and the formation of a more democratic
republic. Federalist Paper #10 was written by James Madison in 1787 and contains
one of the best arguments for the formation of the new

Summary Of John Yossarian s Catch-22
John Yossarian is a bombardier of the 256th Squadron of the Army Air Forces during
World War II. He is stationed in Pianosa, a small island off the coast of Italy, and has
been ordered to bomb enemy positions. The story begins with Yossarian attempting to
escape the war through feigning liver complications, which could be considered the
exposition of this story. Through this experience, the reader learns about Yossarian
s
hatred and confusion towards the war and his strong desire to avoid it at all costs.
Yossarian views the war in a different way than most: he is angered by the arbitrary
nature of death and by the fact that at any point, he himself could succumb to the
war. It is for this reason that Yossarian is so affected by the death of Snowden, a
soldier who died right in front of him in the air.... Show more content on

Through a series of anecdotes that are usually biased towards Yossarian s point of
view, the reader is taken through a series of paradoxes that are each known as a
variation of catch 22 that is, illogical and paradoxical reasoning that justifies reality.
The storyline of Catch 22 is not chronological, and offers the reader bits and pieces
of key moments in Yossarian s life at war. Yossarian struggles to survive in a war
with constant obstacles Colonel Cathcart raising the number of missions in a tour
of duty, facing near death experiences, and more. His main goal is to leave the war,
and requests to do so until Doc Daneeka informs him that his request interferes with
catch 22. Yossarian s request to leave the war would deem him as sane, making him
perpetually stuck in a war effort that deems those who have the desire to fly insane.
Amidst Yossarian s own stories, the reader is exposed to the troubles of Yossarian s

Somali Pirates Research Paper
There are many pirates in the Somalian waters. Somalia is a place in East Africa.
The Somali pirates are a criminal enterprise that is getting in millions of dollars in
ransom payments. They have been hijacking ships since the year 2005. Port officials
in Somalia are accepting bribes from the pirates to enter the Somali waters (Scott

devastation that happened in Somalia in the 90s. The pirates are Somalians who are
raiding ships that come nearby Somalia. They carefully select a shipto raid. They will
want to raid cargo ships. After they find a ship to raid, they then use force to get
into the ship. The pirates carry various guns to help to get on board the ship. After
they manage to get on the ship, they start to take all the valuables on the ship

My Love Essay
I was loved even before I was born, that is what my parents always told me. To be
loved and fully accepted without reservation is their greatest gift to me. Raised by
Christian parents who modeled Christ s love, my early life was uneventful and
peaceful. I followed the rules and never got in any serious trouble. So for the first
ten years of my life, my faith was not tested and had no chance of maturing. My life
of ease did not incite me to seek Godor his purpose for me. God was in the
background for me then.
Then came some hard times. My easy life was shaken when my mom was
diagnosed with breast cancer. This was her second cancer diagnosis and more
serious than the first. Real life stress and worry came crashing in on me. Was I
being punished for some wrong doing? Would my mom survive? What would
happen to me? I was just a kid, but I knew how serious this was. At first, I did not
know where to find help and comfort. Then I remembered seeing my parents turn to
prayer and the Bible especially when they had worries. I came across Ephesian 1:4,
Even before he made the world, God loved us/me and chose us/me in Christ to be
holy and without fault in his eyes. This verse reminded me of what my parents told
me when I was very young. God chose me to have a relationship with Him through
his Son, Christ. He holds me without fault because of the sacrifice his Son made for
me. My mom s illness was not a punishment because I have already been forgiven
for my sins. I found peace and

Rhetorical Devices In Essays

  • 1. Rhetorical Devices In Essays Crafting an essay on the intricacies of rhetorical devices in essays is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor. The task demands a nuanced understanding of language, persuasive techniques, and the ability to dissect and analyze written discourse effectively. Rhetorical devices add layers of complexity to the writing process, requiring the author to not only recognize them but also to comprehend their purpose and impact on the reader. Delving into this topic necessitates a comprehensive exploration of various rhetorical devices such as ethos, pathos, logos, metaphors, similes, and many more. It involves deciphering the subtle ways in which writers employ these devices to sway opinions, evoke emotions, and enhance the overall persuasiveness of their arguments. The writer must navigate through a myriad of examples, illustrating how these devices contribute to the rhetorical strategy of the essay. Moreover, the challenge lies in striking a balance between theoretical analysis and practical application. It's not enough to merely identify rhetorical devices; the essay should demonstrate an understanding of their real-world implications and how skilled writers strategically deploy them for persuasive purposes. This requires a keen eye for detail, critical thinking, and the ability to articulate complex ideas in a coherent and engaging manner. The difficulty further escalates as one grapples with the task of organizing the essay effectively. Crafting a seamless structure that allows for a logical flow of ideas while showcasing a profound understanding of rhetorical devices demands both skill and finesse. The writer must seamlessly weave together examples, analysis, and insights to provide a compelling and insightful exploration of the topic. • 2. The Eternal City And Her Empire Michael Miller Extended Essay (Lack of title page) Word count: 2594 Introduction The Eternal City and her empire, spanning at its peak from chilly Britain to sweltering Egypt, did not spring from glory (Nelson). Her legions were not born, trained, and blooded as professionals, or as the legends that they came to be; nor were her architects and engineers blessed by providence with the talent that has kept Rome standing for more than two thousand years. It indeed rings true when said or heard that Rome was not carved out from her seven hills; not built; not fought for nor killed for in a day. Her legacy was painstakingly written with the lives of millions, and the many victories of her army were learned and prepared for through just as many losses. It was not intrinsic ability that conquered all of the Mediterranean coast and lands beyond, but cunning, the ability to adapt when beaten, to recognize superior tactics and to outwit them, to learn from other cultures and militaries, and most importantly, to get back up off the ground when conquered and hit back harder than ever before. The empire created by the sword, lived by the sword, and died by the sword, wielded by one of the most dynamic and influential militaries in the history of the world. The research question of this extended essay is, To what extent did the Roman military adapt and change as a product of warfare and contact with other cultures, from the tribal days of Rome to the end of the Republic? Though her
  • 3. Work Is Calculated As Force X Distance Pg 377: Answer 1: Exerting a force does not imply that work is done. Work is calculated as Force x Distance. Work is said to be done on an object when the force on the object causes the object to move some distance. Ife the object does not move, no work is done immaterial of how much force is exerted. There are many situations when force is exerted but work is not done. For example, if you hold a piece of wood while helping in a project, effort is done to hold the wood in place, but since the force doesn t cause the wood to move, work is not said to be done. The force has to be in the direction of motion to require work to be done. Answer 2: The formula for calculating work is: Work (J) = Force (N) x Distance (m) Thus, the amount of work done can be determined by multiplying Force with Distance. Answer 3: Here two scenarios are given. a.Force of 2N moves an object 3 meters: Here work is calculated as: W = F x D = 2N x 3m = 6 Nm (6 Joules) b.Force of 3N moves an object 2 meters: Here work is calculated as: W = F x D = 3N x 2m = 6 Nm (6 Joules) Thus, in both cases, the work done is same, i.e. 6 Joules. Answer 4: Here, we need to move 5 large cans of paint from basement to the second floor. Let us assume that the Force for lifting one can is 1N and the height of one floor is 1m. Thus, the below two scenarios are taken as: a.When all the cans are lifted and taken to second floor all at once, the calculation for work done is: W = 5N (5 cans each of 1N) x 2m (2 floors each
  • 4. Theseus Character Analysis Characterize the figure of Theseus. Introduced as a conqueror...greater than any other beneath the sun, ThesГ«us, the wise and chivalrous lord Athens, is a merciful and noble duke (Chaucer 24). As a wise and noble leader, ThesГ«us, with a heart of pity, mends the ailments of his people, as he [is] a true knight. (26). How does Theseus treat the mourning women who ask for help against the tyrant Creon? ThesГ«us mercifully agrees to to get vengeance on the tyrant Creon, who [set] his dogs to eat the women s husbands instead of burying them. Theseus mercy did not reach so far, as he went to Thebes to fight and slay Creon manfully, like knight, / [i]n open war (26 27). How are the knights, Palamon and Arcita, introduced into the ... Arcita, now released, feels as though he [is] in the worse prison, now, and more forlorn than before because of the absence of the sight of Emily, who now can only be seen by Palamon, in prison no longer, but in paradise. 7. What is the situation of each knight at the close of Part One? What formal question is asked at the end of the first part of the Knight s Tale? At the end of part one, Arcita leaves for Thebes, exiled forever from Athens and distraught over never seeing his love again, while Palamon still lies in prison, desolate without the company of his cousin, but still able to regale at the sight of Emily. The question Who has the worse, Arcita or Palamon? allows the mind to wonder which fate is worse? Never seeing your beloved, but living as a freeman, or imprisoned till death, but able to see the face or your love. 8. Provide evidence for any two characteristics of a romance evident so far. Refer to the prezi. A romance requires the telling of a true story in remote places and times. The Knight s Tale begins with the lines Once upon a time, to retell the old events of Theseus in the ancient city of Athens (24). The Knight s tale meets the requirement of a medieval romance in the first sentence, as it opens with a tale of a far off land in ancient times. Idealized aristocratic conduct, another requirement a medieval romance must meet, becomes present
  • 5. Knox Vs Powells The Powells entered into a contract with Mr. Knox to purchase his home. Mr. Knox did not reveal any defects about the home to the Powells during their brief visit to the home and claimed to have no knowledge of any defects that would affect the value or marketability of the home. The Powells claim that Mr. Knox should have disclosed the hazardous soil and the loud parties across the street. Is Mr. Know liable for defects that he claims to have no knowledge of? The Powells were looking to move to Madison and flew down to the city to view the home for sale by Mr. Knox. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But the law has evolved to where the seller has to disclose material, latent defects that they are aware of pertaining to the home that is being sold. Failure to disclose defects is a part of the evolution of the law. Under failure to disclose, if the seller is found o have known about a material defect, not disclosed the defect, and the buyer relies on the seller s word to their detriment, the seller is found to be liable to failure to disclose. For example, in Johnson v. Davis, 480 So. 2d. 625, the Johnson s know of the leaky roof in the home that they were selling to the Davises, but the represented the home as if there were no defects. The Courts rules in the Davises favor because the Johnsons had a duty to disclose defects that are material so that the buyer will not rely detrimentally on them. The same rule applies in the Powell v. Knox case. The current case distinguishes from the Johnson v. Davis case because Mr. Knox testified that he had no knowledge of the contaminated soil in the backyard, because he and his late wife never attempted to plant veggie only flowers. He also testified that his hearing is not that best, which prohibited him from hearing the parties across the street. The jury found that Mr. Knox was not had liable for failure to disclose due to Mr. Knox not having prior knowledge of the defects and the Powells willingness to overlook the issue for the chandelier in Mr. Knox s
  • 6. One Name Two Fates And The Other Wes Moore People make decisions everyday without knowing the consequences from them. The Other Wes Moore One Name Two Fates written by Wes Moore is a memoir that explains how your future can be determined by the choices you make in your life. Both Wes Moore`s grew up without their fathers. Wes Moore(the author) grew up fatherless because his father had passed away from an allergic reaction that affected the epiglottis that caused him to suffocate. Likewise, The other Wes Moore grew up not really knowing his father. Eventually wes(the author) started to go to school irregularly. Wes was in a constant reminder that he was much poorer than the kids at his school. So wes would go back to his old neighborhood and hang out with his old friends instead of going to school. Wes was an all round trouble maker from; Tagging on the streets to punching his sisters Shani and Nikki. His mother Joy, finally had enough with wes getting into trouble so with the help of his grandparents she sent him to military school at Valley Forge. Wes hated the military school so much that he tried to escape multiple times. One night his Sergeant, Austin had given him a map that would help him escape and when wes tried to escape, he followed the map precisely and ended at dead end, that is when he realized the map was a fake. Wes was caught and brought back to Captain Hills office and was granted one phone call to his mother. After Wes talked to his mother wes continued to attend Valley
  • 7. Finding Dory Case Study Diagnosis Hi, I m Dory! I suffer from short term m m memory loss (Stanton and MacLane, 2016). These are the first words spoken by the title character of the Disney Pixar film Finding Dory. Dory is a friendly, outgoing blue tang, but she suffers from anterograde amnesia. She has difficulty retaining new information in her short term memory. When she is first introduced in the 2003 film Finding Nemo, she immediately forgets what she is doing, who she is talking to, and what she was talking about. She can hold most of the new information for a few seconds, but as soon as there is a lull in conversation or something distracts her from what she is doing, she becomes confused and sometimes disoriented. They laid out seashells in a path to their home, taught her songs about survival, and made her rehearse her catchphrase I suffer from short term memory loss, all in an effort to help her stay safe. Despite their precautions, Dory s mother and father still feared for her future. One scene showed them talking late at night, with her mother in tears, asking, Do you think she s... that she can make it on her own? (Stanton and MacLane, 2016). As if to prove her mother s point, while attempting to bring a purple shell to her parents, Dory is swept away by the undertow and taken out to sea. Her parents must then rely on the hope that their teaching and rehearsing survival mechanisms would be enough to keep her alive until they can be reunited. They spend the next several years building a new home with shell paths to wait for her. Dr. Baxendale pointed out, the frustration of the fish around her with her constant repetition accurately reflects the feelings of people who live with amnesic patients (BBC, 2004). Her parents loved her, but trying to take care of an amnesic child is stressful, as the film showed. Jenny and Charlie chose to hope that their daughter would be safe and come back to them, but their fears for her were also taking their
  • 8. Using Volunteer Sampling From Within Leeds Sixth Form College METHOD SAMPLING To collect a large sample I used volunteer sampling from within Newcastle Sixth Form College. Participant forms were handed out to every tutorial class (equivalent to registration) within the college to make sure that every student is presented with the opportunity to take part in the study. This allowed me to have a population of over 500 students to sample from. Once the volunteers had submitted their interest, I planned to then try to make the sample more representative of the national population. However, this was unfortunately not possible for two reasons. The first is that the sample would consist almost entirely of students aged between 15 and 20. Secondly, the final sample size was too small to try and make it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A repeated measures design was not possible as randomly assigning different bands each session would have created random and most likely insignificant results. Although I did not intend to use a matched pair design, the fact that the participants are very similar reduces the extraneous variables to less than that of a normal independent measures experiment. PROCEDURE The procedure for the BEM was standardised to ensure that extraneous variables (experimenter variables) would not impact on the reliability of the results. The standardised experiment included how to set the environment, how to prescribe bands to each participant, as well as all other factors involved in the experiment. The participants were first asked to complete a questionnaire before their first session about how they had been feeling and if any external factors may have been affecting them. They would then be asked to complete a consent form so that the auditory prescriptions could begin. The participant would be asked to sit on any chair in a room which only contained five chairs in a quincunx pattern. Once the participant was seated, I would assist with and confirm the blindfold was working. At this point, they would be told to please relax, and give me a sign if you feel uncomfortable. • 9. Analysis of four types of conflict in John Steinbeck s... In John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath, the journey of the Joad family is riddled with conflict. The family experiences all of the four major types of conflicts: man vs. himself, man vs. society, man vs. nature, and man vs. man. In the case of The Grapes of Wrath, man represents the Joad family as a single unit. They experience conflict within the family itself, with the society they are coming from as well as the one they are going to, and with nature and the elements. The man vs. man conflict is usually just a more specific example of one of the other areas of conflict. The most prevalent conflict in the novel is man vs. society. The next big loss the family suffers is Noah leaving while the family is staying at the river. Ma, I got somepin to tell ya. Noah he went on down the river. He ain t a goin on (294). This solidifies the solid decline of the family state of the Joads. Family s fallin apart (294). The final place the man vs. himself conflict arises is in the case of the blacklist. Tom s natural instinct is to become a leader, and lead the people to revolt against the way the society is working in the west. When the man Tom meets at the camp tells him that if he does that, he will be blacklisted, in which case he won t be able to get work anywhere, and his family could quite possibly starve. Well, you jus open your trap about us folks getting together, an you ll see. They take your pitcher an send it all over. Then you can t get work nowhere. An if you got kids (336). This represents a man vs. himself conflict because Tom has to resist his instincts to start a revolt, and just lay low. The man vs. man conflict is usually a representations of a different conflict. In The Grapes of Wrath, the people the Joad family has conflicts with are usually some sort of personifications of another area of conflict, for example, society. When the Joads are staying at the hooverville, and Tom and Jim Casy attack the police officer, they aren t attacking him because they have a disagreement with the man himself as much as because that police officer
  • 10. Mythological Allegory Of The Matrix Some of the most obvious examples of mythological allegory in The Matrix are associated with the characters themselves. Mythological allegory pointing to Christianity is undeniable in the character and activities of Neo. His given name is Thomas A. Anderson. Thomas is also the name of Jesus disciple who tended to doubt; thus the cultural nickname, Doubting Thomas . Neo doubted everyone and seemingly each situation he encountered; he especially doubted his role as The One. His surname, Anderson, traced to it rudimentary form, means Son of Man, which was Jesusfavorite term for himself. Consider also that Neo is an anagram of one, and as a prefix it means new, recent, or in a modern form. In the text, Neo becomes a new man, The One. His choice between the red and blue pills is reminiscent of the choice always available to Adam and Eve, the choice to eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The choice to eat the fruit would be an irreversible decision, one that would change the course of history. Accessing the knowledge of good and evil also evokes, what some in Christendom call, the age of accountability, the age at which one knows the difference between good and evil and therefore much make a choice serve one or the other. Jesus is said to have grown in wisdom, stature, and in the favor of both Godand humanity. Neo experiences a similar messianic growth process. When his physical body is rescued from the pod, it is atrophied and full of needle
  • 11. Descriptive Essay On A Restaurant Smell As I walked in the door, aromas flooded my nostrils; my day as a waitress had begun. Immediately, bacon sizzling on the grill grabbed my attention then resumed filling the kitchen and the street air outside with a salted, hickory twist. Taking a deep breath and opening the door to the waitress station revealed a pot of freshly brewed coffee, its creamy perfume tangled with the bacon from the kitchen had encased the small town diner. My first customer was an older man. The stench of his breath was appalling, consisting of only the toxic odor of alcohol which remained from a night of heavy drinking. A quick ticket, a cup of plain coffee, and a couple sticks of fresh mint gum on the house set him on a more vibrant route; this, of course, gave him a more tolerable fragrance for the day. Glancing out the window, I noticed thick, black smoke billowing from the Whitewater Valley train: its passengers exited, covering their ears to shield from the blare of the horn. As the door opened, the dense, charcoal fog dragged in along with the new customers. Though, the kitchen buzzed with the creation of orders before long. As my day ended, I walked out of the diner to my junky old car. The interior reeked of fruity strawberry and black ice air fresheners, which unsuccessfully attempted to mask the metallic stain of rust and old gasoline. The A/C was broken, but the crisp, fresh breeze cooled me as the sun began to wave goodnight to the woodland surrounding the road.

  • 13. The Fifth Amendment And The Rights During Arrest, Trial,... No matter what the crime is, the Constitution is supposed to help protect the accused s rights during arrest, trial, and sentencing. The Sixth Amendment clearly states that In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed... and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense . If the accused is found to be guilty, the Eighth Amendment is there to protect us from the possibility of cruel and unusual punishment. This is something as an American we all expect and we all assume is what happens, but what if you re a minority, or have a mental impairment and you re facing the death penalty, can you expect the same rights? Recent studies have shown that while the use of the death penalty have gone down over the years since it was reinstated in 1976, there is still a staggering number of statics showing inequality in the application of its use. A law professor from the University of Iowa, David C. Baldus and two colleagues published a study not long after the reinstatement of the death penalty in 1976 (Dow, 2011). In this study it looked at over 2,000 homicide cases just within Georgia alone beginning in 1972, what they found was startling (Dow, 2011). Baldus found that black defendants were 1.7 times more likely to be given the death penalty than white defendants and those who murdered white victims were actually 4.3 times more apt to be

Due to NDV being highly contagious and severe it is classed as a notifiable disease, therefore any bird showing symptoms of this disease must be reported to the Animal and Plant Health Agency where action will be taken to prevent the disease from spreading (DEFRA, 2014b). Vaccinations can be administered to protect birds against clinical signs and decrease the risks of contracting the virus (CFSPH, 2016). Strict biosecurity practices and correct husbandry are also vital in the prevention of NDV, this includes the isolation of any outbreaks, disposal of any infected carcasses, thorough cleaning and disinfection (Beautyofbirds, 2017); (DEFRA, 2014a). Fowl Cholera (Avian Pasteurellosis) Fowl cholera is a contagious bacterial disease seen in captive and wild fowls caused by Pasteurella multocida to which domestic poultry; such as chickens, are particularly susceptible (West, 1976b); (Christensen, 2016) causing high morbidity and mortality and bacteraemia (OIE, 2016). This failure to do so has left the country in a state of discontent. If a national identity is an idea constructed by modern nation states to identify real or imagined commonalities in order to unite a population (Flayhive 2007). Australiais missing a national identity, as the country has yet to construct its own national identity. This lack of a clear national identity can largely be attributed to the youth of the country. A clear national identity leads to a strong sense of national pride and patriotism (Hauss 2003), which in turn leads to higher rates of happiness, cohesion and stability among the country s inhabitants (Write and Reeskens 2011). A lack of a clear national identity causes displaced people to quickly become isolated in a new homeland, as the country was unable to present the displaced person with a sense of belonging. This sense of belonging is something more than just residence or vague opportunity or even welfare benefits, (Daley 2007). Without a clear national identity, a country while not necessarily in a state of active distress does feel slightly uneasy at the thought of having nothing clear and tangible to show to not only the inhabitants of the country, but also the world. Australia is one such country; the country has not invented a clear national identity. A national identity is just an invention; it is an important invention that symbolises a country and everything it stands for. In order to signify her growth as a nation, Australia needs to invent a clear national identity that all Australians can feel proud standing behind. • 16. Cosmological Argument Examine the cosmological argument for the existence of God. The cosmological argument is an a posteriori argument which intends to prove that there is an intelligent being that exists; the being is distinct from the universe, explains the existence of the universe, and is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and omnibenevolent. The basic notion of cosmological arguments is that the world and everything in it is dependent on something other than itself for its existence. It explains that everything has a cause, that there must have been a first cause, and that this first cause was itself uncaused. Many philosophers have explored the cosmological argument, including Aquinas, in much depth, through his Five Ways in the Summa Theologica.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frederick Copleston was a priest, and historian of philosophy who supported Aquinas rejection of infinite regress. Copleston reformulated the argument by concentrating on contingency, which he discussed in depth during a radio debate with Bertrand Russell in 1947. Copleston, like Aquinas, argued that there are things in the universe which are contingent, for example, us we would not have existed if our parents had not met. All things in the world are similar to this, nothing in the world is self explanatory, and everything depends on something else for its existence. Therefore, we are forced to search for an external explanation. The explanation must lead us to a cause which is self explanatory, i.e. one which contains within itself, the reason for its own existence a necessary being. The conclusion must be God. Copleston argues that if we don t accept the existence of an unmoved mover , like Aquinas suggested, there is no explanation for the universe at all. Copleston believes the universe is gratuitous without a first cause, because without an explanation, nothing has meaning Everything is gratuitous. Olmec Culture Essay The mysterious Olmec civilization prospered in the Pre Classical (Formative) Mesoamerica from c. 1200 BCE to c. 400 BCE and is considered the forerunner of all subsequent Mesoamerican cultures, like the Aztecs and the Mayans. The Olmec culture flourished along Mexico s gulf coast from 1200 to 400 B.C. Known best today for their carved colossal heads, the Olmecs were an important early Mesoamerican civilization which had influenced later cultures such as the Mayans and the Aztecs. One of the most important archaeological sites associated with this culture is San Lorenzo. There was a great city there: its original name has been forgotten in time. Considered by archaeologists to be the first true Mesoamerican city, San Lorenzo was a very important center of Olmec commerce, religion and political power during its popularity. San Lorenzo was first occupied around 1500 B.C., making it one of the oldest cities in the Americas. It housed three early settlements, referred to as the OjochГ (1500 1350 B.C.), the BajГo (1350 1250 B.C.) and the ChichГЎrras (1250 1150 B.C.).These cultures are considered pre Olmec and are largely identified by pottery types. The ChicharrГЎs period has characteristics identified as Olmec characteristics. The city reached its peak in the period from 1150 to 900 B.C. before falling into decline: this is referred to as the San Lorenzo era. There may have been some 13,000 people at San Lorenzo during the peak of its power (Cyphers). The city then went into decline and entered the Nacaste period, lasting 900 to 700 B.C.: the Nacaste did not have the skills of their forebears and added little to the progress of art and culture. The site was abandoned before the Palangana era (600 400 B.C.) began: later, inhabitants contributed small mounds and a ball court. The site was deserted for more than a thousand years before it was re occupied during the Late Classic era of Mesoamerican civilization, but the city never regained its former glory. The Olmec were religious and contact with the Gods was a very significant part of their daily life. Although no structure has been clearly identified as an Olmec temple, there are areas of archaeological sites which are considered to be religious complexes, such as

With all the mass shooting tragedies that occur across the United States from Sandy Hook to Las Vegas to Texas and all the innocent lives that were lost it is brutally clear that stricter gun laws are necessary to save lives. Stricter gun control laws should be enforced in two ways; by more thorough background checks and by making the sale of gun conversion kits illegal. In America it is much too easy to get a weapon without background checks. Currently, anybody can buy a weapon at a private gun show without a background check. Gun control advocates have long identified this loophole. Also, private individuals can sell their guns to anyone. He is separated from his sister when he is sold into slavery; he later reunites with her for one night until she is ripped away to be sold again. He is sold to many different owners; the majority of them had a similar language and culture as his, a few were completely different. On the sea coast aboard the slave ship, Equiano faints; when Equiano regains consciousness he is forced below the deck where he is confronted with an unbearable stench and constant crying, he is so sick that he does not have an appetite and he wishes for death. 2. Since PRG has recently developed their mission to provide direct services to a new target group (women with reproductive cancers other than breast cancer), the need for services is exponentially high. We believe this goal is feasible, considering that Pink Ribbon Girls has had a 95% success rate with grants. Beneficiaries Women from the Simply Fight and No Age No Stage programs at UC health who are battling gynecological cancer will benefit from this project. According to previous PRG grant proposals, $15,000 will serve 75 85 based on a family of four. The Simply Fight recipients receive three meals per week for their entire family for two months, in addition to other services such as four house cleanings and twenty rides to treatment. The No Age No Stage recipients receive a $3,000 stipend. These recipients will put the stipend towards the services they feel are the most important.
  • 38. The E Cargo Bike Once the overall market has been determined, the next step is to segment the market. I would begin with a geographic segmentation characteristic, focusing on individuals living in urban areas. The e cargo bike has extensive storage, and the ability to use the motor makes it easy to tow large loads without having to rely completely on manual peddling. This makes it a great alternative to using a car in large cities. Parking can be very expensive and inconvenient, so the e cargo bike could also save people a great deal of money, while offering the convenience of skipping the traffic. Not only can the bike tow physical cargo, it can also be used to tow children, as kids bike seats can be attached to the back. Making it a great option for parents who were not ready to give up city life and move to suburbia. The second segmentation characteristic I would focus on is psychographic, narrowing in on individuals who are very conscious of their environmental footprint. The Pedego Stretch e cargo bike uses a rechargeable lithium battery with Samsung cells. Not only is this a long lasting battery, it is a much more environmentally friendly option than burning fuel and releasing the exhaust into the air when driving a car. The battery should last between 2 4 years and offers a 3 year warranty, which is not only environmentally friendly, but also economical. You will not be putting a battery into a landfill each year, further reducing your carbon footprint. Another

Procedure In this experiment, a solution of 2 naphthol in HCl and a solution of 2 naphthol in NaOH are analyzed by measuring their UV visible (obtained from the Cary 50 spectrophotometer) and fluorescence spectrum (obtained from the PTI fluorometer). For detailed procedure, refer to the lab manual (J. F. WГіjcik and T. S. Ahmadi, Experimental Physical Chemistry, 2015; p.3 5.). Some modifications of the procedure are the concentration of 2 naphthol in both solutions is changed from 0.0001 M to 0.00005 M, and the acid/base concentration is changed from 0.100 M to 0.0100 M. Data 2 naphthol has a molecular weight of 144.17 g/mol, with a density of 1.22 g /cm3. The melting point of 2 naphthol is in the range of 121 to 123 В°C. The stock solution of 2 naphthol has a concentration of 1.9844E 3 M. The 2 naphthol solution in HCl and NaOH was both prepared in 100 mL volumetric flasks using a 10 mL transfer pipette for 2 naphthol and another 10 mL transfer pipette for either the acid or the base. Then the solutions were diluted ten fold in new 100 mL volumetric flask by taking 10 mL of the original solution. The excitation wavelengths of the 2 naphthol solution in HCl and in NaOH are 316 nm and 345 nm, respectively. Results Before any calculations, the absorbance spectra of the HCl and NaOH solutions are baseline corrected. To

Most of the traditions do involve football, but some have their own meaning and were started randomly a long time ago. Before every home football game, an eagle flies from the middle of the field, all the way around the football stadium, and back to the middle of the field. This is known as Eagle Flight and is meant to be a signal to all of the fans that the football game is within minutes of starting. This tradition has been around for almost 100 years. The most famous eagle was Tiger, who was the 6th eagle to fly around the stadium. Tiger flew from 1986 2006, and in her last game there was a moment of si lence for her. Now an eagle named Spirit flies around before games and is very popular among fans because of her bright white head and tail feathers, which is different than most bald eagles. Another tradition is the wrapping of Toomer s Corner with toilet paper, called Rolling Toomer s. This is the most famous tradition in all of college football. After every game that Auburn football wins, students meet up at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and College Street. This became popular in 1972 after Auburn beat Alabama in a close, 17 16, game. The reason toilet paper is used is because an Auburn running back said before the big Alabama game we re gonna beat the No. 2 out of

With this in mind, home buyers find it difficult to invest in a home due to their socioeconomic status, yet they still make a personal choice to do so. The article, Toronto and area house prices, out of reach for most (Montgomery, 2015), addresses the inflation of housing prices but entails a very narrow lens to the identity of the home buyer. Symbolic interactionism would analyze this issue from a micro level perspective. The theory emphasizes the importance of an individual s subjective meanings and how these interpretations help create their own social state of affairs (Brym R, 2013). Looking at the article from a symbolic interactionist perspective, it can be noted Montgomery fails to explain the house is in itself a reflection of the homeowner s individuality and desire to impress upon the public eye. Erving Goffman would rationalize the house as a mode of presenting the homeowner in the best possible light, this is known as dramaturgical analysis (Brym R, 2013). When the definition of an allergyvs intolerance are clearly understood, the testing process becomes very clear, especially when looking at the example of cow s milk allergies and intolerance. The implication of false diagnoses of allergies can be very problematic. A true food allergy involves a reaction by your immune system against a certain substance. Specifically, when the body perceives a substance as harmful, it produces an antibody called immunoglobulin E (Harvard Men s Health Watch). The antibodies travel to the cells and cause the cells to release chemicals to fight off the perceived threatening substance. Raised by Christian parents who modeled Christ s love, my early life was uneventful and peaceful. I followed the rules and never got in any serious trouble.
