Scary Narrative Essay
Crafting a compelling essay on the theme of a "Scary Narrative" can be a challenging endeavor.
The difficulty lies not only in conveying a spine-chilling atmosphere but also in creating a
narrative that captivates the reader's emotions and keeps them engaged throughout. One must
master the art of building suspense, describing eerie settings, and developing characters that
evoke fear or anxiety. The challenge is to strike the right balance between revealing enough to
maintain interest and withholding information to sustain the mystery.
The writer needs to carefully choose words and phrases that evoke a sense of foreboding, using
vivid imagery to paint a haunting picture in the reader's mind. Developing a strong narrative arc
is crucial, as the story must unfold organically, gradually intensifying the fear factor. Pacing
plays a vital role; too fast, and the story may lose its suspense; too slow, and the tension may
wane.
Furthermore, crafting a scary narrative essay requires a deep understanding of psychological
elements that induce fear. The writer must tap into universal fears, phobias, and anxieties to
create a story that resonates with a broad audience. It demands a keen understanding of human
emotions and the ability to manipulate them through the written word.
In addition to technical aspects, an effective scary narrative requires creativity and originality.
The horror genre has a plethora of clichГ©s, and the challenge lies in presenting a fresh and
unique perspective that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat.
Despite the difficulty, the payoff can be immensely rewarding. A well-written scary narrative
has the power to linger in the reader's mind long after they've finished the essay. It can evoke a
visceral response, whether it's a quickened heartbeat, a nervous glance over the shoulder, or a
lingering sense of unease.
In conclusion, tackling a scary narrative essay involves navigating a complex interplay of
language, suspense, pacing, and psychology. It's an art that demands both technical skill and a
creative spark. For those seeking assistance or inspiration, similar essays and more can be
explored and ordered on HelpWriting.net, where skilled writers can provide guidance and

4.The first reason it took US years before it entered WWI was because it had no
stake in any of the alliances at the time. At the time there were two rival alliances, the
Triple Alliance(Germany, Austria Hungary, and Italy, and the Triple Entente (Britain,
France and Russia). These Alliances were involved in their own conflict because,
Austria Hungary had angered Serbia by seizing Ottoman provinces which in turn
angered Serbia s ally Russia. This would lead to Germany, an ally of Austria
HUngary to declare war on Russia and its ally France. Britain would then get
involved after Germany attempted to invade Belgium. Because of alliances almost all
the major Allies and Central Power were involved in war, and obviously US was not

The Treaty was a disaster from the beginning as it excluded the nations of Russia
and Germany. Their restrictions and expenses put on Germany would lead to their
economic destruction and eventually lead to WW2. Moreover, the treaty would
alienate Vietnam, as France would not let Vietnam be represented in the treaty and
would not give it independence leading to long term consequences for both France
and Germany in the future. Furthermore, under British watch, thousands of Jews
moved to Palestine and bought land, spurring massive riots between the Jews and
Palestinians and resisting in massive bloodshed, These issues would lead to the
US Congress rejecting the treaty . Though Wilson tried immensely to spread the
idea of the League of Nations and its benefits across the country, Congress still
rejected the treaty. The US did not join the League of Nations, a key part of the
treaty, and the League of Nations, as we know, would fail to stop World War 2.
Clearly, The Treaty of Versailleswas a major disaster because it would allow for
WW2, alienate many countries such as Vietnam, and lead to bloodshed in Palestine

The Legend Of Mulan By Mulan
The Legend of Mulan
Mulan was a legendary warrior, who disguises herself as a man to fight during the
Southern and Northern Dynasties (386 589).1 China was separated into North and
South. Where North China was under the control of the Tuoba Clan, a Mongol
people not of Han descent.2 While the Southern Kingdom was under the control of
the Chinese people.3 It was during these time the legend of Mulan can be interpreted
in many different many ways across history. The earliest record is the Poem of
Mulan and Song of Mulan , who both referenced the heroine in the times of the
Northern Wei period (386 533). 4 These poems described Mulan as a heroine who

That only leaves the mother, Mulan and her sister to take care of the family if the
father leaves for war. Feeling a strong sense of loyalty and love for her family,
Mulan persuade her family to let her go into military service. She was able to fit
into her father s armor and successfully disguise herself as a man and rode off to
war. Along her trip to the nearest army base, Mulan was attacked and bullied by other
draftees. She was aided by another draftee by the name Liu Yuandu, who helped
Mulan beat up the harassers. Thus the two begin their friendship and ride off together
to the reporting station in Yan an.
Time passes, and by Act 4, we see Mulan as a Commandment officer on the front

Describe The Importance Of The Colosseum
The Colosseum
Koch, Matt
Do you know what one of the most important structures to mankind history is? The
Colosseum. The importance of the Colosseum, otherwise known originally as the
Flavian Amphitheatre, was that many of the materials, styles, and architecture were
inspiring to many architects and designers constructing today s modern facilities and
structures.
The emperor of Rome at the time, Vespasian, began building the Colosseum (Flavian
Amphitheatre) in 72 AD. They believed that in ancient Rome the patron was more
noble and loyal than the architects, and the architects were just craftsmen and hired
hands (Woog, 2014). So as of today the designers and architects are unknown to the
world, and will probably never be found out about because if limited evidence.
Floor plans, 3 dimensional scale models, perspective drawings, and full size design
sketches are what were used by the anonymous architects and designers of the
Colosseum (Hopkins, 2011). The site of construction was formerly known as the
Golden House, owned and lived in by Nero the Emperor. This was drained and as a
precaution against potential earthquake damage concrete foundations six metres deep
were put down to support it (Cartwright, 2012). And eight long years of hard work
and design later the Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre) was completed in 80 CE.
There were many materials mixed in the project of constructing the Colosseum
(Flavian Amphitheatre). The walls of the Colosseum were built with stone. They
made use of a number of arches in order to keep the weight down, but yet still keep
them strong (Cartwright, 2012). The floor of the Colosseum was wooden and usually
covered in sand most of the time. But the floor was taken out due to heavy
weathering in 1674 AD. And about 19 miles outside of Rome in a little town of Tivoli
were quarries where the Romans mined there stone blocks out of to construct the
walls of the Colosseum. Some other material they had used to construct the
colosseum include, limestone brick, concrete and volcanic stone (otherwise known as
tufa ), pumice stone. And including bronze, which was used for statues around the
stadium. But some parts of the colosseum that are made of concrete are not authentic

Afghanistan and Economic Dependency
Economic Dependency
The fight for control of Afghanistan s opium economy has created a powerful entity
competing for influence within an already fragile state. Worldwide drug use has led
to a steady demand for Afghanistan s opium and heroin production. The benefits for
those involved including workers and farmers who produce the opium to the
warlords, commanders, and international traffickers who control its movement, is
great. Years after the fall of the Talibangovernment, some argue that the rebellion is
no longer about religion or ideology, but about money and wealth. With almost all of
the worlds opium production in Afghanistan most is cultivated in a small areas of
southern provinces near the Iranian and Pakistani border, Kandahar,... Show more

Opium Greed and Our Troops War is seen as a means for control and resources. We
once thought of the invasion of Afghanistan as The War on Terror, and it became
seen as a way to gain control of their oil production, but little is known about the $1
trillion wealth this country really holds and the interest U.S corporations have taken
on the new cash crop known as poppy. We know that the United States government
has been found to protect certain drug operations around the globe, for example in
2012, a Mexican government official from Juarez stated that the CIA and other
international security forces don t fight drug traffickers but instead manage the drug
trade. Former Representative Ron Paul has even commented about the CIA s
corruption when speaking to a group of students about Iran Contra: stating Drug
trafficking is a gold mine for people who want to raise money in the underground
government in order to finance projects that they can t get legitimately... It is very
clear that the CIA has been very much involved with drug dealings. There is no
hardcore evidence whether or not the CIA or other U.S security systems are involved
in the Afghanistan opium production or distribution

The Labelling Theory Movement Among Criminologist
And...
INTRODUCTION Howard Becker is renowned as the person who established the
modern labelling theory. Becker also developed the term moral entrepreneur to
portray the person in power which campaign to make certain deviant behaviour
outlawed (Becker, 1963). He suggests that most laws are founded on that basis,
and the behaviour that is classified as criminal is ever changing. Thus, the criminal
behaviour is impertinent to the labelling theory. What actually matters is which
outlaws are arrested and processed by the criminal justice system (Becker, 1963).
Due to the belief that societal and personal factors do not kick in as motivations for
criminal behaviour, there has been little study of the aforementioned factors. This
facet of Labelling Theory is still debated. Becker s work has become the focus
point of the labelling theory movement among criminologist and sociologists. In his
introduction, Becker writes: ...social groups create deviance by making rules
whose infraction creates deviance, and by applying those roles to particular people
and labelling them as outsiders. From this point of view, deviance is not a quality of
the act the person commits, but rather a consequence of the application by other of
rules and sanctions to an offender. The deviant is one to whom that label has been
successfully applied; deviant behaviour is behaviour that people so label. Society
uses the religion to justify its moral action whereas the deviant actor uses it to justify

Racial And Cultural Background For Guidance Essay
As humans I think that we can find comfort in the fact that we are always trying to
understand who we are. We look to our ethic, racial and cultural background for
guidance in determining what makes us unique. We analyze our personality and
our interests as it changes and our beliefs that mold us into the person that we
believe we are meant to become. We try to create our own sense of uniqueness, yet
try to stay inclusive with those we share common space with. Overall, I find that
we are more the same then different, and those that we are mostly around, probable
share a common interest, if not common personality traits. I was born in the United
States, in a well known state called California, where the weather is always perfect
and a multitude of opportunities lie ahead. My mother was born in Tijuana
Mexico and was brought into the United States when she was only 2 years old and
was raised by her single mother. My father was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala
and was brought into the United States when he was 8 years old, he was raised by
his grandmother. My mother graduated with her Graduate degree at Azusa Pacific
University. My father made it to 10th grade in high school. My mother and father
raised me for a short period of time and then my mother, aunt and grandmother

were from Central America and Mexico, and my great grandparents migrated from
Spain and Italy. So basically, I am a melting

In chapter seven of Looking Glasses and Neverlands by Karen Coats, the subject of
abjection and adolescent fiction is discussed. Coats says, In its social context,
abjection means to operate at the social rim (Looking Glasses and Neverlands. 138)
which I interpreted as meaning trying to fit into societal standards; whether it be in
terms of dress, language, sexuality, or race. (There s obviously many more
examples, but those were the few that came into my head immediately). Coats goes
on to say, Adolescence is a time of cultivating group identity; socially abject figures
cannot seem to manage either the material conditions and habits or the identifications
necessary to sustain a position in a social group (Looking Glasses and... Show more

Characterized by the material expressions of dress, drugs, music, language, and
sexuality, most young adult novels have a relatively short shelf life (Looking
Glasses and Neverlands. 137 138) which I feel as though The Yellow Wallpaper
almost ignores, which makes it such a memorable piece for the ages. As mentioned
before, this piece was published in a time where mental illnesses were not
something people were extremely knowledgable and accepting of (compared to
today s time). The interesting thing about this piece, though, is that the narrator
even overlooks her illness because her husband has convinced her it s no big deal.
I haven t done any research, but I m sure this piece caused some controversy about
how it discussed mental illness, especially coming from a woman. It s interesting
because if this piece was published in the 2000 s, it would be no big deal, because
mental illnesses are so commonly known and accepted; people definitely have more
knowledge about them than they did in 1892. While introducing herself and her
husband, John, the narrator in The Yellow Wallpaper says, If a physician of high
standing, and one s own husband, assures friends and relatives that there is really
nothing the matter with one but temporary nervous depression a

Writing Assignment #2 In the Greek film Dogtooth, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos,
three adult children are kept secluded at home by their controlling parents and some
very unconventional parenting techniques. This movie also features some
unconventional filming techniques such as awkward shots and stark color scheme.
Abrupt changes in tone and omission of information are very effective methods
utilized to focus on the dehumanization of the characters throughout the film. About
forty minutes into Dogtooth, the brother is playing with an airplane when the eldest
daughter accuses him of not being the owner of the plane. She then grabs it and
throws it outside the property which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many stories, details and motives are hidden until the end to intensify the story, but
in Dogtooth the same type of information that would be helpful is purposely omitted
entirely. The father s motives for the entire charade and all of his actions are very
unclear and the audience can only speculate why he acts as he does. One serious
omission caused not by the filmmakers but by the father himself, is the lack of
names. Each character other than Christina is referred to only by their relationship in
the family. This action strips them of much of their individuality, turning them into
components of a single unit rather than separate people. All of this changes in the
scene where the eldest daughter expresses her desire to be called Bruce. She likely
does not understand what she is doing, but in that moment she asserts her
individuality and her disconnection from the family unit. Up until Bruce chooses her
name, it is very hard for the audience to be cheering on any particular character.
Names are very important for human connection, we give names everything from
beloved animal companions to nice looking rocks. It is very common to hear Don t
name it, you ll get attached and it is true. Without names the characters are all empty
players in the uncomfortable game playing across the screen, but when the eldest
becomes Bruce, the audience finally has someone to root for. She changes into a
person with feelings and needs that
No Kill Shelter Research Paper
Chapter #3 Kill Shelters vs. No Kill and Low Kill
Shelters
No Kill Shelters No Kill Shelters are very different from Kill and Low Kill
Shelters. For example, Maddie s Fund wrote that no kill shelters save all healthy and
treatable dogs and cats. They will even keep the animal until it gets adopted. Around
7.6 million dogs and cats are sent to an animal shelter every year. But only 4.9
animals are saved mostly by no kill shelters. However, if the animal is unhealthy or
untreatable, they will put it down. Also, they only take in animals that are adoptable.
Pet360 stated, They do not accept animals without appointments and have a very
thorough screening process. Additionally, these shelters often will not accept animals
over a certain age, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, they limit how much time an animal has to get adopted. According to an
article, To clarify, there are some shelters that will let an animal stay for two weeks
before euthanizing it. Others give only 3 days. According to research, some shelters
may give an animal 3 days, then an additional 7, should the owner come looking for
the animal. Meanwhile, other shelters may give the animals a few months, a few
weeks, a few days, or even just an hour. This shows how these shelters don t care
about finding homes for these homeless animals. Furthermore, kill shelters use
excuses for murdering the innocent little animals. An article said they use excuses
like We don t have enough room, we don t have enough money to keep them alive,
or they aren t young or cute enough and nobody will want to adopt them. Every
year, approximately 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized because there isn t
enough room. As you can see, these shelters don t even think these animals are
worthy of being alive. Lastly, research told how kill shelters send out little to no
notice of advertisement for the animals. The only advertisement that some kill
shelters send out is a death row which tells adopters that they are about to kill some
animals, so they need to come adopt one before it s too late. In other words, kill
shelters don t give much effort in encouraging people to adopt an animal. Kill shelters
are the most harsh shelters of them
Susan B. Anthony And The Equal Pay Act
Imagine being told that you do not need as much pay as a man because your
husband is a professor and you do not need the money. This was the truth for Maxine
Lampe when she addressed the school district about being paid less. Before her
husband was done with graduate school, she brought the issue up with the school
where she worked and was told that she could not get the head of household pay that
menreceived, even though she was the breadwinner. This is not the only account of
this happening. All over the country, women are getting paid less than men and being
told that it s okay. It is not okay.
Gender equality is something that has been a problem through the ages. Susan B.
Anthony and many others fought for the right to vote which was granted in 1920.
In 1963, President John F. Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act into law stating that
no employer can discriminate based on gender. The American Association of
University Women published a graph on Women s Median Annual Earnings as a
Percentage of Men s Median Annual Earnings for Full time, Year round Workers,
1974 2014 and it shows that in 1974, women were paid 59% of what men were
paid. The graph shows the improvements over the years and that in 2014, women
were paid 79% of what men were paid. The gap has not budged since 2014. The
gender pay gap has improved over the years, but it will not close until new legislation
passes.
Over time, the gap has changed for the better. The gap has improved for many
reasons but many of

Beowulf shows the same qualities when fighting the dragon, as does Wiglaf, who

because both demonstrated heroic bravery. Beowulf reveals tremendous bravery
in each of his battles, but exceptional fearlessness is displayed in his fight against a

Pros And Cons Of Microchip Implant
In recent discovery by the NBC News humans of the US are predicted to be tagged
with microchips. This medical chip is said to track medical health for every
American. According to the reports, the technology is forced to ask serious
questions towards the statement I am who I say I am. A human microchip implant is
an identifying device or an RFID transponder encased in a small glass and implanted
in a human being. RFID stands for radio frequency identification. The chip is not
battery powered, powered instead by a reader that pulls information out of the chip.
The sub dermal implant contains a unique ID number that can be cross references it

personal identification,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
RFID chips are found in lots of things we use every day, credit cards, pet trackers,
to everyday phones, also connecting with phone apps. Even creepier, the microchip
is also found in the technology that is currently at Disney World s MagicBand,
which tracks a wearer s location within the park and connects to that person s
accounts for the parks amusement rides. One fact about the RFID microchip is
that it was not the first microchip to be approved. A company called VeriChip
actually got approved by the FDA to market an implant back in 2004. The implant
was designed to carry a unique ID number that hospitals could use to pull up a
patient s medical records if he or she were unconscious; however, the chip was
discontinued in 2010 over privacy concerns with HIPPA. Even if the microchip is
roughly the shape and size of a grain of rice and works like a tiny computer, even the
tiny computer can catch a virus just as a regular computer today can. The chances
of identity theft becoming more and more common will increase dramatically. Also
with a microchip being so small and fragile it would make it easier for damaged,
even more so for those who have jobs that require hands on. Our number rule in the
medical field is the patient s privacy; with the microchip approved it will only make
it our number
What Is Andrew Carnegie s Reputation Among His Workers

Literary Devices Used In Macbeth Essay example
Literary Devices used in Macbeth
Imagine how dull a Shakespearean play would be without the ingenious literary
devices and techniques that contribute so much to the fulfillment of its reader or
viewer. Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, is a tragedy that combines fact and legend
to tell the story of an eleventh century king. Shakespeare uses numerous types of
literary techniques to make this tragic play more appealing. Three literary devices
that Shakespeare uses to make Macbeth more interesting and effective are irony,
symbolism, and imagery. One technique that Shakespeare uses is irony. Verbal irony
is when a character says one thing but means the opposite. When a reader understands
the irony of what a character is saying, then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Irony, a key element to a tragic play like Macbeth, has the ability to make the tragic
hero appear more villainous or the down fall seem even more tragic. The second type
of literary device that Shakespeare uses in Macbeth is symbolism. The predominant
symbol is blood and is used as an effective method to describe the theme of the play.
Not only does blood symbolize bravery, it is also a means of showing treachery
and treason and probably most importantly, guilt. One example of bravery occurs
when the captain says, For brave Macbeth well he deserves that name /Disdaining
fortune, with his brandished steel,/Which smoked with bloody execution (1.2.16
18). Soon after this blood changes into a representation of treachery and treason.
Lady Macbeth asks the spirits to Make thick my blood,/ Stop up th access and
passage to remorse (1.5. 43 44). She asks the spirits to take away compassion and
make her remorseless for the actions she is about to take. Also, when Ross asks, Is
t known who did this more than bloody deed? (2.4.22), he tries to figure out who
performed the disloyal act of murdering the king. Blood is also used many times to
express the guilt ridden consciences of the characters. For instance, Macbeth says,
What hands are here? Ha! They pluck out mine own eyes!/ Will all great Neptune s
ocean wash the blood/ Clean from my hand? (2.3.58 60). Macbeth obviously feels
guilty for killing Duncan in cold blood. Later in the play, Lady Macbeth

Way back during the dot come boom, coming up with the next cutting edge solution
was the ultimate goal, and the actual business was secondary. The person who was
most creative was the person who would make the most money. In fact, even an
amazingly novel idea was worth millions, or even billions. Do you think I am being
far fetched with this assertion? If so, visit your favorite search engine, and type in

Similar to Facebook and Twitter, he was ridiculed in his early years. In fact, many
business geniuses are ridiculed prior to demonstrated success. For instance, the press
doubted that Disneyland had a chance of survival, and referred to it as Disney s
Folly . Funny huh? I wonder who got the last laugh.
Just know that if you have an idea which goes against conventional thinking,
expect people to put that idea down. Just think back to the year 1996. You are
excited because you have determined that you are going to develop an online
business in which you will give everything away for free. What do you think would
happen if you were to have shared this concept with your friends or family? They
would probably have given you their movie money and thanked you for the comedy.
The funny thing is that a company did actually develop on Internet business which
was based on giving away everything for free. This company is called Hotmail, and
they gave their e mail platform away for free at a time where everyone else was
requiring either payment, or some sort of work or scholastic affiliation. Hotmail was
first, and Hotmail was, and still is
Holmes Vs Watson
In all stories there are characters that make it worthwhile. Sherlock Holmes is a
witty, yet arrogant young man. He solves crime in a short amount of time, with the
help of his partner Dr. Watson. He boasts about his intelligence and acts like he is
better than most people. Dr.Watson on the other hand is a feeble and polite man. He
was a military doctor, who got injured, and is usually uplifting Sherlock. These two
characters are very different, but share many of the same qualities like being
unsociable, zealous, pompous, and fortitudinous. Given these points, Holmes and

Typically the dust control bags in the new line have maximum controlling efficiency.
Comparatively, according the data from the employee and community survey there is
a significance impact dust particulate to the surrounding environment. Therefore, it is
better to rethink on the filter bags performance. In addition, regular maintenance and
quick replacement of filter bags is necessary. Practically the ESP found in the old
line in addition to some filter bags has less performance on dedusting. Dust emission
is observed continuously due to malfunction of this device. Therefor this ESP way of
dedusting is better to change or supported by other dedusting device. While the
factory starts to investigate and allocate budget on the improvement of the ESP, it is
delayed to implement. It needs urgent decision making to substitute it.
3.Management of transformed materials. Some of the sources of dust emission are
the way how to handle materials especially the transformed materials such as pet
coke and black coal. The factory transformed from pet coke and black coal coming
from South Africa to local black coal. Some of the pet coke and black coal from
South Africa accumulated without function and poor handling in the factory
compound. It is better to take measures on these transformed materials urgently.

New Era of Cyberpunk Literature Essay
Through years of advancements in the world, technology has become greatest aspect.
The development of technology by incorporating the human mind and culture has
brought about a new era. These are the criteria of cyberpunk literature, in which
William Gibson s Johnny Mnemonic is a good example of cyberpunkliterature. The
novel reflects on how the human mindhas been incorporated into the advanced
technological world. This relates to cyberpunk literature because it follows the same
ideas, but to a greater extent. Elmer Dewitt s Cyberpunk and Sterling s Preface to
Mirrorshades both give an excellent criteria to cyberpunk literature in both aspects of
culture and mind.

Dewitt excellently shows the relationship of the physical mind with technology
and computers. The cyberpunks look at those wires from the inside: they talk to
the network as if it were an actual place a virtual reality that can be entered,
explored and manipulated. (Dewitt 60) This shows how the idea of cyberpunk
literature is interconnected with technology as one. It allows people to express
themselves in different ways. The idea of virtual reality was also presented in the
novel Johnny Mnemonic when he is connected to the machine to extract his
memories. The story clearly relates to this idea because it incorporates the mind
conjoined with technology. and one day I ll have a surgeon dig out all the silicone
out of my amygdale, and I ll live with my own memories and nobody else s (Sterling
12 13). This shows how this type of technology could be too influential in this aspect.
Although, it is made clear in cyberpunk literature that it incorporates the idea of
technology and the human mind as working together.
The second criterion of cyberpunk literature is integration of culture and technology.
These aspects relate to how people join together and make technology and computers
part of their culture and lifestyle. People have become more united because of cyber
communities that have developed. The idea of using computers to communicate with
one another is a great example of cyberpunk literature. People are able to connect in a

Coral Reef Deforestation
Where have all the coral reefs gone? Reef deforestation has been occurring around

As well as the fact that industries aren t getting a steady income, marine animals are

The process of obtaining information by enlisting the services of a large number of
people, either paid or unpaid, typically through the Internet is known as crowd
sourcing. The term crowdsourcing was coined in Jeff Howe and Mark Robinson
(2006) ,which describes how businesses were using the Internet to outsource the
work to a large and heterogenous undefined general public usuall in the form of an
open call . The emergence and popularity of the crowdsourcing phenomenon can be
largely attributed to the rise of the Web 2.0 (FГјller, Bilgram, Koch Rapp, 2013)
Crowd sourcing is based on the concept of collective intelligence: Selzer Mahmoudi
(2006 ) told that under the right circumstances, groups are remarkably intelligent, and
are often smarter than the smartest people in them. Crowd sourcing gives access to

Similarities Between Julius Caesar And Gaius Marius
I came, I saw, I conquered. These words embody both Caesar s demeanor towards
his triumph at the Battle of Zela (47 B.C) as well as Gaius Marius demeanor

greater.
To illustrate, Jackson s rise to sovereignty, like Caesar and Marius, began in the

The Domestication of Canines
We are inseparable; they are more than tame animals. They have become a part of
humanity that have and will shape our species. Dogs have been an essential part
of the book of humanity well before the first settlements and human survival might
not have been possible without dogs. How did dogs go from a wiled animal, to the
loving spices that we share almost every moment of our lives with? We share
every thing with them; our lives, our homes, our money (for their food , medical
care and up keep) beds, food, compassion, and love. They are treated just as well as
our own children. Many people including myself share almost everything with our
dogs. But how does this story begin, where has it taken us throughout history, and
today, what were we able to accomplish? Prehistoric humans lived in a time where
there was little food, safety, or certainty, following groups of animals as a food
source, and seeking the safety of caves to avoid the dangers from the world at
night. We were in a period where death was more common than living. At the time,
our ancestors were living in incredibility small social groups. The population of
prehistoric humans at the time was only in the tens of thousands. There were other
species of large primates under the genus Homo (hominids), and the competition was
rough. We were at the time a poorly equipped species, lacking speed, strength, fur,
claws, teeth, and other smart biological features. The few things we had going for us

Rhyolite History
The 19th century saw a construction and population boom in North America, as a
result of the California Gold Rush and the flourishing of the mining industry all over
the United States, which drew new settlers from Europe, Latin America and Asia.
Once the gold and coal resources dried up, many of these newly found, remote towns
emptied out, as its inhabitants moved to larger areas looking for new opportunities.

character, Carlos had in his basement, that allows one to see all places in the world
at all at once. Although these were two different stories they both had many
similarities and differences with theme and symbols. The Jolly Corner written by
Henry James, wrote about Spencer Brydon, who left the United States when he was
younger, to pursue his career in art and writing short stories, instead of staying and
helping run his family business. On Spencer return, to the United States, the text

mortality rises with decreasing socio economic status. Three large sample studies,
one British and two American, brought together for their complementarity in samples,
measures, and design, all show similar social gradients for adult men and women in
physical and mental morbidity and in psychological well being. These gradients are
observed both with educational and occupational status and are not explained by
parents social status or lack of an intact family during childhood. They are also not
accounted for by intelligence measured in school. This suggests that indirect selection
cannot account for inequalities in health. Possible mediators that link social position
to physical and mental health include smoking and features of the psycho social
environment at work and outside. Increasing social inequalities in health in the
United States and elsewhere, coupled with growing inequalities in income and
wealth, have refocused
The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was, and still is a difficult topic to discuss, not because of the
battle itself, but because of the unfamiliarity of the subject most present day students
have. Five years after World War II, the war for Vietnamese independency began,
which is also when textbooks for some reason strayed away from world history and
lingered toward United States history instead the economic boom and race war is far
more recognizable to modern day students and the fear of Communist tendencies
assisted in altering the curriculum to avoid the problems outside of the United States.
However, soldiers continued to fight on unfamiliar grounds during the time, many
have lost their lives, and George Crumbs composition Black Angelsrepresents the
true, raw emotion of what it felt like away from home. In Black Angels, Crumb
fulfilled the command to reinvent music, not by writing a piece that reflected on the
war, but by making music as the embodiment of war and thus assume...mythic
qualities (Ho). Although the music can be audibly heard as a battle within itself, the
titles of each number in the three movement program can assist the surfacing
discomfort of what war should bring.
Black Angels begins with Departure, featuring the electric string quartet screeching
on their strings like a swarm of insects, comparable to the unfamiliar land soldiers
trod upon with insects crowding about corpses before them. As the piece progresses
into the next number, the quartet turns into a trio
Essay about Birth Order
Birth Order
Does being the eldest child make people highly intellectual, people pleasing,
perfectionists? Are the middle children always impatiently competing for parental
attention by rebelling against the rules? Are all last born children the spoiled,
selfish, favorites? Birth order, a highly controversial topic, is defined as the
dynamics of an individual s place in the family compared to that of their siblings.
Birth order has been in a fiery discussion for over one hundred years; some say it s
the very foundation of each one of our personalities, while others claim that the
margin of error is just too wide for these coincidental patterns to bear any meaning.
Alfred Alder, the first to study birth order and the family dynamics that ... Show more

Another famous, or infamous, characteristic eldest tend to portray is that of
selfishness (Murphy). Born into a life of privilege and not having to share a single
thing gives them their first dose of the selfish trait. They are the receivers of the first
time parent pampering love, and they are the first to experience the confusion that
accompanies the birth of a younger sibling. They are not used to having to share
everything; therefore they act as if they are the Alfa male to the new arrival, which
also explains the previously stated dominant trait that domino effects them into the
role of the mentor.
One thing is for sure about eldest children: They are nothing like middle born
children. Middle children are dubbed as the outgoing, friendly, and loud sibling.
All too often do they get lost in the madness of the family dynamics and, in turn,
develop a competitive nature. They are eager for their parents approval and praise,
but feel as if their older sibling received too much credit and their younger sibling
receives too little discipline compared to them (Neal). They are both teacher and
student, babysitter and babysat, too young for the privileges of the firstborn but too
old for the latitude given the last (Kluger).
Much could be said about the last born children because they seem to always fit the
molded stereotype of themselves. Their characteristics can be picked up on in a
matter of minutes in a conversation; there
Sense Of Smell
Everything You Need To Know About Your Dog s Sense of Smell
One of the distinct characteristics of dogs is their powerful sense of smell. That is
what makes them extraordinarily special. However, when you go out for a jog or a
walk with your dog, sometimes you encounter some conflicts because your dog
tends to sniff in a direction where you might be probably going in the opposite
direction. So, what is it about their sense of smell? What makes them rely mostly on
their sense of smell rather than be like humans who mostly make use of their sense of
sight?
Just by sniffing, they become aware of what kind of things there are and where they
are located. At the same time, they are able to determine if there is perfect mate just

Dogs are able to recall objects, people, or situation just by using their sense of
smell. Although we also sometimes associate a particular scent with a certain
person or event, dogs mostly rely on their sense of smell which allows them to
determine so many things around them. Imprinting odor is their way learning how
to identify human remains, bombs, or narcotics which could take us hours or days
before we could be able to find out for ourselves. Dogs are trained to search for
these. And of course, no training can be as successful without any doggie treat after
every successful task.
Interesting Facts and Truths
More than just cuddly little creatures, your dog s sense of smell works wonders.
Here are some facts:
Dogs have the ability to detect cancer in its initial stage. Although scientists have
proven that cancer can have a distinguishing smell that can be detected by humans, it
is only during the later stage of cancer that it is possible.
No matter how often humans clean themselves, for dogs, humans stink.
A very amazing fact that dogs do is being able to smell the blood glucose level of
their owner. Just like in the case of Claire Moon who owns a medical detection dog
that lets her know when her blood sugar level drops to 4.5 on the scale.
A dog is able to smell invisible things. We shed dead skin every so often that it just
falls off to the ground without us
Negativity as A Cause of Decline
Negativity in the workplace and the demand of jobs are causing a decline in
American work ethic. Work ethic is a set of values that is based on hard work,
attitude, and character. The three main causes of negativity in the workplace are
people are negative, people are discriminated against, and single parents are trying to
raise their child(ren) while working. As negativity in the workplace increases, morale,
productivity, and work ethic decrease. When there is negativity in the workplace,
customers can be chased away. Negativity not only causes work ethic to decline, but
it causes the number of customers to decline. People that come into to work negative
can affect everyone else around them. Negative employees affect everyone that they...

Single parents trying to make a living and be in their children s lives can also
cause negativity in the workplace. This can cause negativity because people are
asked to work overtime at work or switch hours with someone for a certain reason.
It s hard for a single parent to work overtime when they want to be in their children
s lives and they are the only parent in the household. It s also hard for them to
switch hours because when they find a job they usually try to find a job that gives
them hours while their children are in school so that they can be with them before
and after school and on the weekends. There are some jobs that fire people because
they can t work overtime or switch hours or ask for off time on a holiday. Some
single parents are even working minimum wage jobs just so that they have some kind
of income coming in to support them and their family. Dujon made a very good
point, If businesses had a work ethic they would gladly establish a family friendly
culture that allows parents to meet their children s physical, psychological and
financial needs. (Dujon par. 2) This is true because if a business had a work ethic
then they would understand the importance of family values. There are after school
programs, but most of them are too expensive for someone working a minimum or
low wage job and raising a family. It s also hard to find a baby sitter when most
people have a job and many people don t know their neighbors well enough to allow
them
Penn State Scandal During The O. J. Simpson Trial
When the Penn State scandal was made public nationally, it appeared to be similar
to when the O.J. Simpson trial began 1993. It was very controversial and the more
it was exposed the greater outsiders continued to become more eager to see what the
outcome would be. Jerry Sandusky was almost on the same level as Coach Joe
Paternobecause he had been an assistant football coach as well as a staff member
for the University for thirty years. Sandusky was well known throughout the
community due to his charitable organization, The Second Mile, which was set up
to help disadvantage kids in the community. In hindsight this was an easy way for
him to possibly find his victims who will be easily accessible to him (Crandell,
Parnell, and Spillan, 2013).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This incident will eventually also be reported to the police. During the
investigation the police decided the following, The police investigation does not
reveal evidence of a crime, but it did bring a reprimand from a police detective not
to shower with any other children. A caseworker from the department of Public
Welfare was present at this meeting (Crandell, Parnell, and Spillan, 2013). The case
would eventually be closed by the chief of police stating, There was no criminal
behavior established and that the matter was closed as an investigation (Crandell,
Parnell, and Spillan, 2013). No matter whom you are or what legal knowledge you
have or do not have, it is obvious this is a clear offense of an adult having a shower
with a child who is eleven years of age. There is clearly a violation that was not

Planning a Delegation Guide
Planning A Delegation Guide
Purpose
One of the most foundational elements of effective management is delegation,
combined with the four foundational elements of planning, organizing, leading and
control. Empirical studies indicate that delegation is the single most effective means
of galvanizing the four functions of management together into a foundation of
leadership (Vickers 1985). Delegation is also one of the most effective means of
infusing a high level of accountability, transparency and trust throughout an entire
organizational culture (Sengul, Gimeno, Dial, 2012). Trust and transparency are
accelerators of organizational accomplishment, attainment and make the orchestration
of complex processes and systems possible. All of these strategic benefits accrue from
a solid foundation of delegation, unifying the four functions of management.
In defining a delegation guide, the nature of delegation itself needs to be defined. The
context and role of delegation in organization is to define the roles, responsibility and
serve to guide the dominant cultural and leadership styles of the business (Willis,
2007). Delegation varies significantly by management and leadership style throughout
an organization however. Having a guide to delegation however serves to define the
span of control, cultural, system and process based constraints, and the situational
aspects of how the four functions of management are used in a given company
(Cunningham, 1979). From the highly autocratic
Pablo Picasso Guernic Importance Of The Work

Pablo Picasso Guernica
Importance of the work
From a patron s point of view, Guernica is a powerful tool that shows the absolute
power of art in society. It displays a sign of relevance in the use of art to
communicate serious matters and helpful ideas. Most people may view artwork as
things for entertainment; some have been quoted to say artists are crazy, somewhat
lazy. It should be appreciated and understood clearly that the artists are people of
sound mind who sees things in the environment and chose to articulate critical human
issues using their creativity.
Picasso; the artist, seemed to be bound by many challenges in his life, just like any
other person. He was tortured by the brutal civil wars that were in his motherland
(Spain). The political wrangles went overboard and transformed into brutal killings.
The forces from the Republicans that were loyal to the ruling new government went
embattled by the fascist coup that was organized by General Franco. Contrary to his
promises of stability and prosperity in Spain, Franco delivered abundant destructions
and deaths.
Guernica is thus important work at the time when it was created. Should we say it is
up to date? Of course yes. The prevailing at that time required a candid and brave
way to say enough is enough to the atrocities that were engulfing Spain. Picasso
chose the initiative although after being disturbed for almost three months by
Dangerous Minds Movie Analysis
On the surface, Dangerous Minds is a film about a teacher who helps her students to
change their lives for the better. The start of the film begins with LouAnne Johnson
accepting a full time teaching job at Carlmont High School. Ms. Johnson did not
know that the kids she would be teaching were tough and rowdy kids that come from
under privileged backgrounds. As the film goes on, Ms. Johnson wins the hearts of
her students by connecting with them and standing up for them against a resistant
administration. By doing this she inspires her students to reach their full potential.
By the end of the film, her students are begging her to stay for another year because
she has changed their lives for the better (Smith et al., 1999). This sounds like... Show

When Ms. Johnson tries to ask her students where they left off with the last teacher,
she is ignored and one student assertively told her not to ask about her and called
her white bread . Additionally, one student, Emilio, uses a harsh and aggressive tone
towards her and also makes a sexual comment in order to try and get Ms. Johnson to
leave (Smith et al., 1999). These help to prove that the message is that Ms. Johnson is
a white savior archetype of the film that has students whose help the students are
resistant to. Hughey (2014) explains that the last part of an archetype for a white
savior teacher is that the students prove themselves to be the exception to the norm
compared to the other nonwhites. This is seen through Callie, a pregnant teenager
who returns to school because Ms. Johnson convinces her to. Similarly, Ms.
Johnson convinces Raul that he can graduate and does not have to turn to the
streets for the rest of his life (Smith et al., 1999). This shows that Ms. Johnson
helped her students to beat the odds of dropping out of school or relaying on the
streets, furthering showing her as a white savior. By depicting Ms. Johnson as a
white savior, the film is saying that races are different and some races are better,
which is an essential racial ideology. Additionally, the students call her their light and
that they need her because she is the only one that believes in them (Smith et al.,
1999).

The TRACE Model
The TRACE model accounts for WF effects as studies have found that participants
gaze at words presented prior and after LF words for a longer duration than the
words surrounding the HF words (Rayner Duffy, 1986). Thus, as the model
encompasses top down and bottom up processing (McClelland Elman, 1986),
quicker responses may be induced for HF words, as when individuals read LF
words they may analyse surrounding words to assess the context of the text, which
consequently slows them down. Whereas, this process is not necessarily required for
HF words, due to the familiarity of the context the words are used in.
Furthermore, the TRACE model accounts for WS effects as exemplified by Williams
and Gaffney (1985) as eight participants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the model s flexibility and universality allows a greater applicability to these
effects and variations, such as developmental disorders that can impact them.
accurately in a string of letters when presented in an actual word, compared to a non
word or a single isolated letter (Baron, 2014). Thus, as both models only incorporate
bottom up processing, which is more useful when processing individual letters
(Starrfelt, Petersen, Vangkilde, 2013), they cannot account for WS as it would be
difficult to efficiently detect letters within words.
However, the TRACE model by McClelland and Elman (1986) accounts for both
effects as it is an interactive processing model whereby visual and auditory inputs are
interpreted by their features, before progressing to either the letter or phenome level
and subsequently advancing to the word level to retrieve suitable candidates, as
shown in Figure 2.
The Logogen model accounts for word frequency (WF) effects, which is based on the
premise that high frequency (HF) words are used more regularly so they are easier to
recognise than low frequency (LF) words that are used scarcely (Murrell Morton,
1974). Rayner and Duffy (1986) illustrate this as participants fixated and gazed
longer at LF words compared to HF words, potentially as infrequent words are not
easily accessed within the lexicon. Consequently, as a Logogen has to reach a
specific threshold to be activated, HF words are stimulated quicker than LF

Abbott Suger wanted to make Saint Denis a magnificent showplace as the royal
Abbey church of France and burial place of French kings. Ribbed vault which were
capable of spanning large areas was designed to make gothic churches larger.
These Gothic Churches were characterized by enlarged clerestory zone, windows
enormous size with inserted new zone and triforium below the ribbed vaults and
supporting of an arcade of high piers lining of the nave. These characteristics
ensured the support of the greater stress of taller, broader interiors and to create

was born the establishment of our modern system of our modern building labor force

came about as a result of the building of cathedrals using Gothic architecture.
The 11th to 15th centuries saw a great surge of the Christian Church within Europe
which was emphasized by the persuasiveness of the Crusades. The growing
population of the Church increased the demand for the increased presence in
architectural monuments and during the Romanesque and Gothic periods, a great
cathedral construction boom occurred across Europe.
The Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles were distinctive in not only the
massiveness of the Romanesque monuments and the introduction of the cruciform
plan but also for the introduction of the Gothic era art within the Cathedrals which
included the inclusion of art the radiating Rose Window, column figures and the
gargoyle among many others. Within Europe, there was a progression of architectural
styles, many of which are still evident in the monuments today. The major styles are
considered as Carolingian (800 900 AD); Ottonian (1000s); Romanesque (1000s
1100s); Gothic (late 1100s 1400s). While Romanesque is considered as the
architectural style which preceded the Gothic, many of the distinct Romanesque
features found within the great cathedrals of

Scary Narrative Essay

  • 1. Scary Narrative Essay Crafting a compelling essay on the theme of a "Scary Narrative" can be a challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in conveying a spine-chilling atmosphere but also in creating a narrative that captivates the reader's emotions and keeps them engaged throughout. One must master the art of building suspense, describing eerie settings, and developing characters that evoke fear or anxiety. The challenge is to strike the right balance between revealing enough to maintain interest and withholding information to sustain the mystery. The writer needs to carefully choose words and phrases that evoke a sense of foreboding, using vivid imagery to paint a haunting picture in the reader's mind. Developing a strong narrative arc is crucial, as the story must unfold organically, gradually intensifying the fear factor. Pacing plays a vital role; too fast, and the story may lose its suspense; too slow, and the tension may wane. Furthermore, crafting a scary narrative essay requires a deep understanding of psychological elements that induce fear. The writer must tap into universal fears, phobias, and anxieties to create a story that resonates with a broad audience. It demands a keen understanding of human emotions and the ability to manipulate them through the written word. In addition to technical aspects, an effective scary narrative requires creativity and originality. The horror genre has a plethora of clichГ©s, and the challenge lies in presenting a fresh and unique perspective that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. Despite the difficulty, the payoff can be immensely rewarding. A well-written scary narrative has the power to linger in the reader's mind long after they've finished the essay. It can evoke a visceral response, whether it's a quickened heartbeat, a nervous glance over the shoulder, or a lingering sense of unease. In conclusion, tackling a scary narrative essay involves navigating a complex interplay of language, suspense, pacing, and psychology. It's an art that demands both technical skill and a creative spark. For those seeking assistance or inspiration, similar essays and more can be explored and ordered on HelpWriting.net, where skilled writers can provide guidance and support in crafting engaging and chilling narratives. • 2. Why Did Ww2 Start 4.The first reason it took US years before it entered WWI was because it had no stake in any of the alliances at the time. At the time there were two rival alliances, the Triple Alliance(Germany, Austria Hungary, and Italy, and the Triple Entente (Britain, France and Russia). These Alliances were involved in their own conflict because, Austria Hungary had angered Serbia by seizing Ottoman provinces which in turn angered Serbia s ally Russia. This would lead to Germany, an ally of Austria HUngary to declare war on Russia and its ally France. Britain would then get involved after Germany attempted to invade Belgium. Because of alliances almost all the major Allies and Central Power were involved in war, and obviously US was not allied with any... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Treaty was a disaster from the beginning as it excluded the nations of Russia and Germany. Their restrictions and expenses put on Germany would lead to their economic destruction and eventually lead to WW2. Moreover, the treaty would alienate Vietnam, as France would not let Vietnam be represented in the treaty and would not give it independence leading to long term consequences for both France and Germany in the future. Furthermore, under British watch, thousands of Jews moved to Palestine and bought land, spurring massive riots between the Jews and Palestinians and resisting in massive bloodshed, These issues would lead to the US Congress rejecting the treaty . Though Wilson tried immensely to spread the idea of the League of Nations and its benefits across the country, Congress still rejected the treaty. The US did not join the League of Nations, a key part of the treaty, and the League of Nations, as we know, would fail to stop World War 2. Clearly, The Treaty of Versailleswas a major disaster because it would allow for WW2, alienate many countries such as Vietnam, and lead to bloodshed in Palestine between the Jews and the

She was able to fit into her father s armor and successfully disguise herself as a man and rode off to war. Along her trip to the nearest army base, Mulan was attacked and bullied by other draftees. • 5. Describe The Importance Of The Colosseum The Colosseum Koch, Matt Do you know what one of the most important structures to mankind history is? The Colosseum. The importance of the Colosseum, otherwise known originally as the Flavian Amphitheatre, was that many of the materials, styles, and architecture were inspiring to many architects and designers constructing today s modern facilities and structures. The emperor of Rome at the time, Vespasian, began building the Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre) in 72 AD. They believed that in ancient Rome the patron was more noble and loyal than the architects, and the architects were just craftsmen and hired hands (Woog, 2014). So as of today the designers and architects are unknown to the world, and will probably never be found out about because if limited evidence. Floor plans, 3 dimensional scale models, perspective drawings, and full size design sketches are what were used by the anonymous architects and designers of the Colosseum (Hopkins, 2011). The site of construction was formerly known as the Golden House, owned and lived in by Nero the Emperor. This was drained and as a precaution against potential earthquake damage concrete foundations six metres deep were put down to support it (Cartwright, 2012). And eight long years of hard work and design later the Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre) was completed in 80 CE. There were many materials mixed in the project of constructing the Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre). The walls of the Colosseum were built with stone. They made use of a number of arches in order to keep the weight down, but yet still keep them strong (Cartwright, 2012). The floor of the Colosseum was wooden and usually covered in sand most of the time. But the floor was taken out due to heavy weathering in 1674 AD. And about 19 miles outside of Rome in a little town of Tivoli were quarries where the Romans mined there stone blocks out of to construct the walls of the Colosseum. Some other material they had used to construct the colosseum include, limestone brick, concrete and volcanic stone (otherwise known as tufa ), pumice stone. And including bronze, which was used for statues around the stadium. But some parts of the colosseum that are made of concrete are not authentic original to the

Afghanistan and Economic Dependency Economic Dependency The fight for control of Afghanistan s opium economy has created a powerful entity competing for influence within an already fragile state. Worldwide drug use has led to a steady demand for Afghanistan s opium and heroin production. The benefits for those involved including workers and farmers who produce the opium to the warlords, commanders, and international traffickers who control its movement, is great. Years after the fall of the Talibangovernment, some argue that the rebellion is no longer about religion or ideology, but about money and wealth. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One Afghan farmer can make 17 times more growing opium poppy than by growing wheat. Opium Greed and Our Troops War is seen as a means for control and resources. We once thought of the invasion of Afghanistan as The War on Terror, and it became seen as a way to gain control of their oil production, but little is known about the $1 trillion wealth this country really holds and the interest U.S corporations have taken on the new cash crop known as poppy. We know that the United States government has been found to protect certain drug operations around the globe, for example in 2012, a Mexican government official from Juarez stated that the CIA and other international security forces don t fight drug traffickers but instead manage the drug trade. Former Representative Ron Paul has even commented about the CIA s corruption when speaking to a group of students about Iran Contra: stating Drug trafficking is a gold mine for people who want to raise money in the underground government in order to finance projects that they can t get legitimately... It is very clear that the CIA has been very much involved with drug dealings. There is no hardcore evidence whether or not the CIA or other U.S security systems are involved in the Afghanistan opium production or distribution

  • 8. The Labelling Theory Movement Among Criminologist And... INTRODUCTION Howard Becker is renowned as the person who established the modern labelling theory. Becker also developed the term moral entrepreneur to portray the person in power which campaign to make certain deviant behaviour outlawed (Becker, 1963). He suggests that most laws are founded on that basis, and the behaviour that is classified as criminal is ever changing. Thus, the criminal behaviour is impertinent to the labelling theory. What actually matters is which outlaws are arrested and processed by the criminal justice system (Becker, 1963). Due to the belief that societal and personal factors do not kick in as motivations for criminal behaviour, there has been little study of the aforementioned factors. This facet of Labelling Theory is still debated. Becker s work has become the focus point of the labelling theory movement among criminologist and sociologists. In his introduction, Becker writes: ...social groups create deviance by making rules whose infraction creates deviance, and by applying those roles to particular people and labelling them as outsiders. From this point of view, deviance is not a quality of the act the person commits, but rather a consequence of the application by other of rules and sanctions to an offender. The deviant is one to whom that label has been successfully applied; deviant behaviour is behaviour that people so label. Society uses the religion to justify its moral action whereas the deviant actor uses it to justify his
  • 9. Racial And Cultural Background For Guidance Essay As humans I think that we can find comfort in the fact that we are always trying to understand who we are. We look to our ethic, racial and cultural background for guidance in determining what makes us unique. We analyze our personality and our interests as it changes and our beliefs that mold us into the person that we believe we are meant to become. We try to create our own sense of uniqueness, yet try to stay inclusive with those we share common space with. Overall, I find that we are more the same then different, and those that we are mostly around, probable share a common interest, if not common personality traits. I was born in the United States, in a well known state called California, where the weather is always perfect and a multitude of opportunities lie ahead. My mother was born in Tijuana Mexico and was brought into the United States when she was only 2 years old and was raised by her single mother. My father was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala and was brought into the United States when he was 8 years old, he was raised by his grandmother. My mother graduated with her Graduate degree at Azusa Pacific University. My father made it to 10th grade in high school. My mother and father raised me for a short period of time and then my mother, aunt and grandmother assisted in raising me through adolescences. Beyond my parents, my grandparents were from Central America and Mexico, and my great grandparents migrated from Spain and Italy. So basically, I am a melting
  • 10. Summary Of Looking Glasses And Neverlands By Karen Coats In chapter seven of Looking Glasses and Neverlands by Karen Coats, the subject of abjection and adolescent fiction is discussed. Coats says, In its social context, abjection means to operate at the social rim (Looking Glasses and Neverlands. 138) which I interpreted as meaning trying to fit into societal standards; whether it be in terms of dress, language, sexuality, or race. (There s obviously many more examples, but those were the few that came into my head immediately). Coats goes on to say, Adolescence is a time of cultivating group identity; socially abject figures cannot seem to manage either the material conditions and habits or the identifications necessary to sustain a position in a social group (Looking Glasses and... Characterized by the material expressions of dress, drugs, music, language, and sexuality, most young adult novels have a relatively short shelf life (Looking Glasses and Neverlands. 137 138) which I feel as though The Yellow Wallpaper almost ignores, which makes it such a memorable piece for the ages. As mentioned before, this piece was published in a time where mental illnesses were not something people were extremely knowledgable and accepting of (compared to today s time). The interesting thing about this piece, though, is that the narrator even overlooks her illness because her husband has convinced her it s no big deal. I haven t done any research, but I m sure this piece caused some controversy about how it discussed mental illness, especially coming from a woman. It s interesting because if this piece was published in the 2000 s, it would be no big deal, because mental illnesses are so commonly known and accepted; people definitely have more knowledge about them than they did in 1892. While introducing herself and her husband, John, the narrator in The Yellow Wallpaper says, If a physician of high standing, and one s own husband, assures friends and relatives that there is really nothing the matter with one but temporary nervous depression a

Dogtooth Quotes Paige Gedicke Professor Douglas Anderson C Lit 240 T 27 January 2017 Writing Assignment #2 In the Greek film Dogtooth, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, three adult children are kept secluded at home by their controlling parents and some very unconventional parenting techniques. This movie also features some unconventional filming techniques such as awkward shots and stark color scheme. Abrupt changes in tone and omission of information are very effective methods utilized to focus on the dehumanization of the characters throughout the film. About forty minutes into Dogtooth, the brother is playing with an airplane when the eldest daughter accuses him of not being the owner of the plane. She then grabs it and throws it outside the property which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In many stories, details and motives are hidden until the end to intensify the story, but in Dogtooth the same type of information that would be helpful is purposely omitted entirely. The father s motives for the entire charade and all of his actions are very unclear and the audience can only speculate why he acts as he does. One serious omission caused not by the filmmakers but by the father himself, is the lack of names. Each character other than Christina is referred to only by their relationship in the family. This action strips them of much of their individuality, turning them into components of a single unit rather than separate people. All of this changes in the scene where the eldest daughter expresses her desire to be called Bruce. She likely does not understand what she is doing, but in that moment she asserts her individuality and her disconnection from the family unit. Up until Bruce chooses her name, it is very hard for the audience to be cheering on any particular character. Names are very important for human connection, we give names everything from beloved animal companions to nice looking rocks. It is very common to hear Don t name it, you ll get attached and it is true. Without names the characters are all empty players in the uncomfortable game playing across the screen, but when the eldest becomes Bruce, the audience finally has someone to root for. She changes into a person with feelings and needs that

For example, Maddie s Fund wrote that no kill shelters save all healthy and treatable dogs and cats. They will even keep the animal until it gets adopted. Around 7.6 million dogs and cats are sent to an animal shelter every year. But only 4.9 animals are saved mostly by no kill shelters. However, if the animal is unhealthy or untreatable, they will put it down. Also, they only take in animals that are adoptable. According to research, some shelters may give an animal 3 days, then an additional 7, should the owner come looking for the animal. Meanwhile, other shelters may give the animals a few months, a few weeks, a few days, or even just an hour. This shows how these shelters don t care about finding homes for these homeless animals. Furthermore, kill shelters use excuses for murdering the innocent little animals. An article said they use excuses like We don t have enough room, we don t have enough money to keep them alive, or they aren t young or cute enough and nobody will want to adopt them. Every year, approximately 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized because there isn t enough room. As you can see, these shelters don t even think these animals are worthy of being alive. Even creepier, the microchip is also found in the technology that is currently at Disney World s MagicBand, which tracks a wearer s location within the park and connects to that person s accounts for the parks amusement rides. One fact about the RFID microchip is that it was not the first microchip to be approved. A company called VeriChip actually got approved by the FDA to market an implant back in 2004. The implant was designed to carry a unique ID number that hospitals could use to pull up a patient s medical records if he or she were unconscious; however, the chip was discontinued in 2010 over privacy concerns with HIPPA. Even if the microchip is roughly the shape and size of a grain of rice and works like a tiny computer, even the tiny computer can catch a virus just as a regular computer today can. The chances of identity theft becoming more and more common will increase dramatically. Also with a microchip being so small and fragile it would make it easier for damaged, even more so for those who have jobs that require hands on. Irony, a key element to a tragic play like Macbeth, has the ability to make the tragic hero appear more villainous or the down fall seem even more tragic. The second type of literary device that Shakespeare uses in Macbeth is symbolism. The predominant symbol is blood and is used as an effective method to describe the theme of the play. Not only does blood symbolize bravery, it is also a means of showing treachery and treason and probably most importantly, guilt. One example of bravery occurs when the captain says, For brave Macbeth well he deserves that name /Disdaining fortune, with his brandished steel,/Which smoked with bloody execution (1.2.16 18). Soon after this blood changes into a representation of treachery and treason. Lady Macbeth asks the spirits to Make thick my blood,/ Stop up th access and passage to remorse (1.5. 43 44). (2.4.22), he tries to figure out who performed the disloyal act of murdering the king. Blood is also used many times to express the guilt ridden consciences of the characters. For instance, Macbeth says, What hands are here? Ha! They pluck out mine own eyes!/ Will all great Neptune s ocean wash the blood/ Clean from my hand? (2.3.58 60). Macbeth obviously feels guilty for killing Duncan in cold blood. Later in the play, Lady Macbeth

Dogs have been an essential part of the book of humanity well before the first settlements and human survival might not have been possible without dogs. How did dogs go from a wiled animal, to the loving spices that we share almost every moment of our lives with? We share every thing with them; our lives, our homes, our money (for their food , medical care and up keep) beds, food, compassion, and love. They are treated just as well as our own children. Many people including myself share almost everything with our dogs. But how does this story begin, where has it taken us throughout history, and today, what were we able to accomplish? Prehistoric humans lived in a time where there was little food, safety, or certainty, following groups of animals as a food source, and seeking the safety of caves to avoid the dangers from the world at night. We were in a period where death was more common than living. At the time, our ancestors were living in incredibility small social groups. The population of prehistoric humans at the time was only in the tens of thousands. There were other species of large primates under the genus Homo (hominids), and the competition was rough. We were at the time a poorly equipped species, lacking speed, strength, fur, claws, teeth, and other smart biological features. The few things we had going for us were our high

Five years after World War II, the war for Vietnamese independency began, which is also when textbooks for some reason strayed away from world history and lingered toward United States history instead the economic boom and race war is far more recognizable to modern day students and the fear of Communist tendencies assisted in altering the curriculum to avoid the problems outside of the United States. However, soldiers continued to fight on unfamiliar grounds during the time, many have lost their lives, and George Crumbs composition Black Angelsrepresents the true, raw emotion of what it felt like away from home. In Black Angels, Crumb fulfilled the command to reinvent music, not by writing a piece that reflected on the war, but by making music as the embodiment of war and thus assume...mythic qualities (Ho). Although the music can be audibly heard as a battle within itself, the titles of each number in the three movement program can assist the surfacing discomfort of what war should bring. Birth order has been in a fiery discussion for over one hundred years; some say it s the very foundation of each one of our personalities, while others claim that the margin of error is just too wide for these coincidental patterns to bear any meaning. Born into a life of privilege and not having to share a single thing gives them their first dose of the selfish trait. They are the receivers of the first time parent pampering love, and they are the first to experience the confusion that accompanies the birth of a younger sibling. They are not used to having to share everything; therefore they act as if they are the Alfa male to the new arrival, which also explains the previously stated dominant trait that domino effects them into the role of the mentor. One thing is for sure about eldest children: They are nothing like middle born children. Middle children are dubbed as the outgoing, friendly, and loud sibling. All too often do they get lost in the madness of the family dynamics and, in turn, develop a competitive nature. They are eager for their parents approval and praise, but feel as if their older sibling received too much credit and their younger sibling receives too little discipline compared to them (Neal). They are both teacher and student, babysitter and babysat, too young for the privileges of the firstborn but too old for the latitude given the last (Kluger). Much could be said about the last born children because they seem to always fit the molded stereotype of themselves. It s also hard for them to switch hours because when they find a job they usually try to find a job that gives them hours while their children are in school so that they can be with them before and after school and on the weekends. • 46. Planning a Delegation Guide Planning A Delegation Guide Purpose One of the most foundational elements of effective management is delegation, combined with the four foundational elements of planning, organizing, leading and control. Empirical studies indicate that delegation is the single most effective means of galvanizing the four functions of management together into a foundation of leadership (Vickers 1985). Delegation is also one of the most effective means of infusing a high level of accountability, transparency and trust throughout an entire organizational culture (Sengul, Gimeno, Dial, 2012). Trust and transparency are accelerators of organizational accomplishment, attainment and make the orchestration of complex processes and systems possible. All of these strategic benefits accrue from a solid foundation of delegation, unifying the four functions of management. In defining a delegation guide, the nature of delegation itself needs to be defined. The context and role of delegation in organization is to define the roles, responsibility and serve to guide the dominant cultural and leadership styles of the business (Willis, 2007). Delegation varies significantly by management and leadership style throughout an organization however. Having a guide to delegation however serves to define the span of control, cultural, system and process based constraints, and the situational aspects of how the four functions of management are used in a given company (Cunningham, 1979). It displays a sign of relevance in the use of art to communicate serious matters and helpful ideas. Most people may view artwork as things for entertainment; some have been quoted to say artists are crazy, somewhat lazy. It should be appreciated and understood clearly that the artists are people of sound mind who sees things in the environment and chose to articulate critical human issues using their creativity. Picasso; the artist, seemed to be bound by many challenges in his life, just like any other person. He was tortured by the brutal civil wars that were in his motherland (Spain). The political wrangles went overboard and transformed into brutal killings. The forces from the Republicans that were loyal to the ruling new government went embattled by the fascist coup that was organized by General Franco. Contrary to his promises of stability and prosperity in Spain, Franco delivered abundant destructions and deaths. Guernica is thus important work at the time when it was created. Should we say it is up to date? Of course yes. The prevailing at that time required a candid and brave way to say enough is enough to the atrocities that were engulfing Spain. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Ms. Johnson tries to ask her students where they left off with the last teacher, she is ignored and one student assertively told her not to ask about her and called her white bread . Additionally, one student, Emilio, uses a harsh and aggressive tone towards her and also makes a sexual comment in order to try and get Ms. Johnson to leave (Smith et al., 1999). These help to prove that the message is that Ms. Johnson is a white savior archetype of the film that has students whose help the students are resistant to. Hughey (2014) explains that the last part of an archetype for a white savior teacher is that the students prove themselves to be the exception to the norm compared to the other nonwhites. This is seen through Callie, a pregnant teenager who returns to school because Ms. Johnson convinces her to. Similarly, Ms. Johnson convinces Raul that he can graduate and does not have to turn to the streets for the rest of his life (Smith et al., 1999). This shows that Ms. Johnson helped her students to beat the odds of dropping out of school or relaying on the streets, furthering showing her as a white savior. By depicting Ms. Johnson as a white savior, the film is saying that races are different and some races are better, which is an essential racial ideology. Additionally, the students call her their light and that they need her because she is the only one that believes in them (Smith et al., 1999).

The TRACE Model The TRACE model accounts for WF effects as studies have found that participants gaze at words presented prior and after LF words for a longer duration than the words surrounding the HF words (Rayner Duffy, 1986). Thus, as the model encompasses top down and bottom up processing (McClelland Elman, 1986), quicker responses may be induced for HF words, as when individuals read LF words they may analyse surrounding words to assess the context of the text, which consequently slows them down. Thus, the model s flexibility and universality allows a greater applicability to these effects and variations, such as developmental disorders that can impact them. accurately in a string of letters when presented in an actual word, compared to a non word or a single isolated letter (Baron, 2014). Thus, as both models only incorporate bottom up processing, which is more useful when processing individual letters (Starrfelt, Petersen, Vangkilde, 2013), they cannot account for WS as it would be difficult to efficiently detect letters within words. However, the TRACE model by McClelland and Elman (1986) accounts for both effects as it is an interactive processing model whereby visual and auditory inputs are interpreted by their features, before progressing to either the letter or phenome level and subsequently advancing to the word level to retrieve suitable candidates, as shown in Figure 2. The Logogen model accounts for word frequency (WF) effects, which is based on the premise that high frequency (HF) words are used more regularly so they are easier to recognise than low frequency (LF) words that are used scarcely (Murrell Morton, 1974). Rayner and Duffy (1986) illustrate this as participants fixated and gazed longer at LF words compared to HF words, potentially as infrequent words are not easily accessed within the lexicon. Consequently, as a Logogen has to reach a specific threshold to be activated, HF words are stimulated quicker than LF
