Research Paper On King Tut
The tragic news of
KING TUTANKHAMEN S DEATH Today King Tutankhamun, died in his early 10s. King
Tutankhamen (also known as boy king), reigned the Egyptian colony for 9 years. King Tut was
suffering from genetic deficiencies but mostly he might of died from a broken leg, it isn t confirmed
though. His golden coffin is now buried in a tomb in the Valley Of The Kings, surrounded by 5000
priceless treasures. These treasures include a golden throne, crown and cobra, pottery and big chests.
Along with a golden burial mask, King Tut s sandals are inside the tomb. It is significant that king Tut
had become a king in such an early age. Although he did managed quite well on making Egypt a better
country and also fixing up the problems from his

Essay on Julius Caesar
1. Early life Julius Caesar was born on July 13, 100 B.C. Though he was a descendent of the oldest
patrician family, Julius Caesar grew up in a very poor district of Rome called Subura. As a child, he
studied martial arts, history, and law ( Julius Caesar ). At the age of seventeen, Julius married
Cornelia, the daughter of Luciussulla, who was a dictator of Rome. Because Luciussulla did not
approve of the marriage, he tried to force the two to divorce, but they both refused. Julius Caesar
studied philosophy and oratory in Greece. Soon after returning to Rome, Cornelia became pregnant.
Named after her father, the baby s name was Julia. Cornelia died in 68 B.C., leaving Caesar to care for
their daughter (Gruen,12). Still fairly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Senate had originally refused to give Pompey this land, but because of Caesar they changed their
minds (Combee,95). Also, in 59 B.C., Pompey married Caesar s daughter, Julia (Gruen,13). Caesar
now desired to be governor of Gaul for a five year term. Also a great general, Caesar spent years
conquering Gaul. He became a loyal friend to many of the people there. While conquering, Caesar
became very powerful and very popular. His many conquests continued and his army grew stronger
and stronger (Combee,95). Fortunately, Caesar s campaigns in Gaul brought great wealth and
popularity to Rome. They also brought great popularity to him ( Julius Caesar ). To many people,
Caesar was a hero (Gruen,13). After his second term as governor in Gaul, the hero returned to Rome.
Growing very jealous of Caesar, Pompey joined his enemies. The Senate persistently tried to disband
Caesar s powerful army. He refused to do this, which caused major friction with the Senate
(Combee,95). Then, on January 10, 49 B.C., Caesar crossed the Rubicon River with his army. This
was the start of the Civil War. Afraid of the more powerful army, Pompey and his army retreated.
Though, this was not the end. Though they knew of his great conquering abilities, the enemies
continued to plan the downfall of Julius Caesar ( Julius Caesar ). As a conquer, Caesar was one of the
greatest. He was greatly honored for many of his victories. In 47 B.C.,

Eliot s Influences On Literature
Frederick Douglass and T.S. Eliot s Influences On Literature The nineteenth and twentieth century
were pivotal times in the world of literature. Many new elements of writing and style were evolving
and authors all over the world were finding ways to present what they felt most passionate about.
Some writers opened their readers up to newer ideas by the means of, as Ezra Pound once stated,
making it new. Two writers in particular who did a fantastic job of this were Frederick Douglass and
T.S. Eliot. Frederick Douglass s most popular work is his autobiography, The Narrative of the Life of
Frederick Douglass. In this story, Douglass makes romanticism new. On the contrast, T.S. Elliot is
widely known for his poem, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, in which he makes new of imagery.
While Frederick Douglass and T.S. Eliot come from completely different backgrounds and write with
different styles, they share a few commonalities as well as both being influences on literary society.
Frederick Douglass was born into slavery in Talbot County, Maryland around the supposed year of
1818. Like many other slaves, his exact date of birth remains unknown. Douglass was an abolitionist
for slavery as well as a supporter for women s rights. Due to his works and accomplishments, it is
obvious that Douglass was a major contributor to the literary tradition of American Romanticism.
After escaping slavery, Frederick Douglass wrote his most famous autobiography, The Narrative of
the Life of

Unfortunately, if we want to know how many moves it will take to transfer 100 disks from pole A to
pole B, we will first have to find the moves it takes to transfer 99 disks, 98 disks, and so on and so
forth. Therefore the recursive pattern will not be much help in finding the time it would take to
transfer all the disks.
However, the recursive pattern can help us generate more numbers to find an explicit (non recursive)
pattern. Here s how to find the number of moves needed to transfer larger numbers of disks from pole
A to pole C, remembering that n equals the number of moves needed to transfer n 1 disks from post A
to post C:
1.For 1 disk it takes 1 move to transfer 1 disk from post A to post C;
2.For 2 disks, it will take 3 moves: 2n + 1 = 21 + 1 = 3
3.For 3 disks, it will take 7 moves: 2n + 1 = 23 + 1 = 7
4.For 4 disks, it will take 15 moves: 2n + 1 = 27 + 1 =15
5.For 5 disks, it will take 31 moves: 2n + 1 = 215 + 1 =31

In the following graph, the exponential function has a very similar trend to the trend of y=2x. It is
important to note that the exponential function is actually y=ax where a 0. Using y=1x would only
produce a horizontal line. Therefore the next value used was y=2x. In order to make the function fit
better with the points we make transformations that slightly change the function. The first step is to
lower the line so that the line can become closer to the data points. With this data set it sloa stands to
reason that there are negative numbers very much possible. It would work in the exponential equation
2x 1.
Conclusion Thanks to the legend of the Tower of Hanoi, if one disc was transferred every second since
the beginning of time, it would take about 580 billion years until the puzzle is solved and the world

John Dewey Progressive Education Analysis
In the writing, Experience and Education (1938), John Dewey recognizes and refutes the argument
that progressive education lacks student control. He clarifies (1938), that his ideas of progressive
education certainly possess student control and that it, in fact, requires a more developed pedagogical
knowledge than traditional school management systems (Dewey, 1938). The control is social, much
like that of the outside world. He provides examples that illustrate this concept in real life: the
competitive game in which rules are natural and accepted by all players and the cooperative family
unit, in which each member plays a part (Dewey,1938). There is control present in these two out of
classroom situations, but it is social control build upon relationships and a common task, instead of a
top down system. Dewey (1938), explains that control and freedom can, and do, co exist; social
control, does not have to involve the restriction of personal freedom (Dewey, 1938, p. 21). In his
model, there is not a being of external restriction or regulation, or the desire of one person to exhibit
obvious authority on the group. Instead, individuals are part of the community, not outside of it
(Dewey, 1938, p. 21). All members of the group must participate and feel as though they are part of
the group, and the controls that are set in place, are for the betterment of the group as a whole, and
must be perceived that way (Dewey, 1938). With this in mind, the learning community, the

Case Summary
Peter has been working for with the Bigness Oil Company s local affiliate and established a trusting
relationship with Jesse, manager of the local facility. Jesse was pleased with Peter s work and
recommended that he be retained as the corporate consulting engineer. One day, Jesse started telling
Peter a story of a mysterious loss in one of the raw petrochemicals he receives by pipeline in the 1950

Some concepts involved through the issue are risk, confidentiality, environmental health, conflict of
interest, and loyalty. First, the company and peter s career will be in risk if he reported the oil spill to
the state. Second, the engineering law requires confidentiality therefore it is irrelevant that peter report
such an issue that is confidential in the company. Third, the tests were only taken 400 feet from the
surface of the groundwater, however maybe there is contamination deeper or other marine life were
affected. Four, most important concept is the conflict of interest since Peter had to either obey the
engineering law that requires confidentiality and neglect his morals or obey the state law and lose his
friendship and career. Five, Jesse trusted Peter to keep this mysterious spill between them; he should
be loyal to him since they have a trusting relationship. Additionally, Jesse noted that he cannot have a
consulting engineer who doesn t value client loyalty. On the other hand, there are some unknown facts
in the issue. According to state law all spills must be reported but what about spills that occurred years
ago? Where the effects of spill seem to have dissipated? Is there any gasoline concentration beyond
the 400 feet of gasoline? Is the marine life affected by the spill? Will the gasoline contaminate the
ground water years later? Who is responsible to

The Revealed Preference Theory Approach To Consumer Behavior
3. Revealed Preference Theory 3.1 Introduction Mr. Paul Samuelson introduced the Revealed
Preference Theory to explain the consumer behavior. It is a method of analyzing choices of
consumers, mostly used for comparing the influence of policies on consumer behavior. The
preferences of consumers can be revealed by their purchasing habits. Revealed preference theory
emerged because existing theories of consumer demand were based on a diminishing marginal rate of
substitution (MRS). This diminishing MRS relied on the assumption that consumers always decide to
maximize their utility. While utility maximization was not a controversial assumption, the underlying
utility functions could not be measured with great certainty. Revealed preference theory ... Show more

Impossible to Separate Substitution Effect: Samuelson s Fundamental Theorem is conditional is not
universal. It is based on the law that +ve income elasticity implies ve price elasticity. Because, the
price effect consists of the income substitution effects, it is not possible to ostracize the substitution
effect from the income effect on the level of observation. If the income effect is not positive, then the
price elasticity of demand is indeterminate. On the other part, if the income elasticity of demand is
positive, the substitution effect due to a change in price cannot be established. Thus, the substitution
effect cannot be made different from the income effect in the Samuelson

Starch, Dextran, And Cellulose
Starch, dextran, and cellulose are all made up of glucose but differ in the arrangement the glucose
molecules. Starch is made of large polysaccharide chains that are arranged in a semi crystalline form.
The glucose in dextran is composed in a linear pattern, the chains are very straight. Lastly in cellulose,
glucose is packed tightly together in a parallel formation.
Glycogen is a branched polymer consisting of multiple side chains. The glucose is linked together
using a (1 4) glyosidic bonds. The branches of the polysaccharide is linked via a (1 6) glyosidic bonds
between. In relation to Amylase, the enzyme can hydrolyze glucose from glycogen because it can
remove the a (1 4) glyosidic bonds.
Different parts of the human body are at different levels of the pH scale in relation to its function.
Specifically, the stomach is one of the most acidic parts of the body having a pH level of 1.5 3.0.
Because of its high acidity enzymes such as amylase would not be able to operate in the stomach.

These gains come at the cost of more tightly coordinated manufacturing processes both inside a
company and with supplier firms that produce under JIT (Vollmann, 2005).
Manufacturing Cells
Manufacturing Cells production is organized in groupings of all the different types of equipment used
to make a given product. Materials move from one machine to another, and various operations are
performed in sequence, minimizing materials handling costs. Workers are also hired and trained to
multitasked performing a variety of activities. Defects in the process are aggressively eliminated; this
is due to the tight links in between workstations. Setup time is another aspect of U.S. Strollers that can
be reduced using manufacturing cells concept. The production of a product, its cycle time until it s
completed is reduced significantly. Reducing setup time and costs make production in smaller batches
economical, which in turn reduces inventory levels
Pull System
Pull systems otherwise called demand pull, a manufacturing system that manufactures each
component in a production line as soon as, and only when, needed by the next step in the production
line (Horngren, Datar, and Rajan). With the JIT production, the demand is pull through by the demand
from the other workstation.

Examples Of Leadership In The Movie Invictus
Leadership at the Movies: Invictus and 5 Leadership Practices
December 20, 2009 by Beverley Simpson
Morgan Freeman and Clint Eastwood have created another very special movie now playing across
North America. Invictus is the story of Nelson Mandela s early days as President of South Africa, and
particularly how he viewed the country s Rugby team, the Springboks, and an upcoming World Cup
event to be held in South Africa, as an opportunity to bring the country together.
The year is 1995. Mandela (Freeman) is in his first term as President. He recognizes the tremendous
challenges facing his government in a land torn apart by apartheid. Racial tensions are at an all time

Pienaar is invited to meet the President and arrives at Government House with trepidation, uncertain
of the reason for the meeting. Mandela s personal style, his warmth, the way he treats everyone around
him with great respect and appreciation completely charms Pienaar who leaves with the realization
that something very significant has just happened to him. During their brief but meaningful time
together Mandela has skillfully Inspired a Shared Vision about the importance and meaning of a
Springboks win to South Africa.
The title of the movie Invictus comes from the Latin meaning Unconquered. We are led to believe that
Mandela had a poem written on a scrap of paper in his prison cell while he was incarcerated. In the
movie, Mandela gives the poem to the team captain Pienaar, before the start of the World Cup. At one
point in the story the Springboks are touring Robbin Island and Pienaar spends a quiet few minutes in
Mandela s old cell contemplating the kind of moral courage it would take to spend 27 years there. He

The Theme Of Unity In Revolutionary Summer, By Joseph J....
Unity in Revolution
Throughout the year of 1776, Americans developed ideas of independence from their mother country,
Great Britain, which turned into a necessary cause that was fought for. Revolutionary Summer, by
Joseph J. Ellis, goes into detail about the relationship between the Continental Congress and the
Continental Army during that summer. His work elaborates on the mistakes of American leaders, as
well as those made by Britain, and how they affected the war. Communication became important on
both sides, and it was vital for the colonies to agree on how to reach the common goal of freedom.
Ellis historical account of 1776 highlights the theme of unity and how it shaped the events of that
summer.

When it came time to battle at Kip s Bay, the soldiers ditched their knowledge and made it difficult for
them to fight with ease. Washington had attempted to establish order by instructing officers to make a
stand behind a stone wall, but the men just ran past him , which created further chaos (181). The battle
ended up being one of the lowest points in the whole war since the Continental Army had failed to
maintain their unity, which led to a disheartened group torn apart by agony. After uniting in declaring
independence, the different states within the colony were eager with their ability to construct their own
laws. They became too preoccupied with their own governments that they did not work as one body to
strengthen the Continental Army. Throughout the summer, although there was The Cause , there was
no such thing as We the people of the United States (114). There was then a lack of soldiers, which
made it difficult for the Continental Army to fight against their enemy since they lost people quickly.
The lack of unification between the states and their leaders lead to losses on the battlefield in New
York. There were still many people, especially in New York and New Jersey, who remained loyal to

Abraham Lincoln Hero or Racist?
Abraham Lincoln is arguably one of the most interesting presidents in the history of the United States.
Any research done on Lincoln will show, whether you agree or disagree with his philosophies, that he
was, and still is, a fascinating historical figure. There have been numerous discussions regarding
Lincoln before the Civil War, during the war as Commander In Chief, or his views on slavery and
racial equality; furthermore, vast debates on his views, strategies, and solutions regarding events that
helped shape our nation. Abraham Lincoln is such an interesting person that discussions and debates

He still did not think blacks should have the right to vote, hold political offices, or marry white people.
He also still believed physical differences between the two races would prevent them from living
together socially and politically (186). Lincoln was against whites benefitting from slave labor and did
feel that blacks should be able to benefit from the fruits of their own labor. According to Dinesh D
Souza in her article Abraham Lincoln: Tyrant, Hypocrite, or Consummate Statesman , he was not,
however, an abolitionist. Abolitionists wanted an immediate end to slavery and believed the rights of
slaves should not be compromised and that they had a duty to defend freedom, unreservedly, and
careless of the consequences (3).
What was the reason behind the Civil War? According to Carter G. Woodson and Charles H. Wesley,
when the Civil War started, Lincoln, in order to stay on the good side of supporters who had voted him
into office, publicly stated that he did not want to interfere with the slavery in the South ( The Negro
in the Civil War 361). Contrary to claims that he did not approve of slavery, Lincoln clearly
compromised the rights of slaves to be free in order to appease supporters of slavery by evading the
subject of slavery in the South. D Souza also asserts that Lincoln stated in correspondence to Andrew
Stephens, the former vice president of the Confederacy, that while we think it is wrong, and ought to
be restricted, it was not his intention to get

Theoretical Concepts. There Are Many Theoretical Concepts
Theoretical concepts There are many theoretical concepts to explain addictions, a few that I see being
used in NA and AA meetings is the Disease Model, Social Learning Model, and Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy. In both of the meetings I attended the members stood up and admitted they are powerless
over their addiction. This falls in with the Disease Model. According to the disease model the
addiction is in the individual s brain. Therefore, the addict is incapable of controlling their own use
(Forcehimes, Miller Zweben, 2011, pg. 25). Research has also shown that certain individuals have a
genetic risk factor that is likely to increase the likelihood of them developing an addiction. This put
the blame on the addiction and not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She had to learn how to handle her fear of group functions that didn t involve the use of drugs.
Another role that is used to help explain what shapes an addiction is Social Learning Model.
Individuals modify their choices and use of substance in response to changes in the social environment
(pg. 25). This is done by watching family members or friends use drugs or alcohol. It can also be done
by going to parties or events, and drinking to feel comfortable. To overcome this the individual needs
to change their relationships and social environment that makes them want to use. Individuals in the
support groups are coming together to find a support from peers that don t encourage them to use
substances. They work together and build each other up on their road to recovery. In both groups I
witness love and support from everyone. If one person admitted they were struggling the member next
them would put their arm around them and give them encouraging words. They become each other s
support. Practice/Intervention Every addict has their own trigger that can push them towards relapse.
For an addict to overcome their addiction they must understand what their triggers are. Then it s trying
to understand how to avoid that trigger or come up with healthier coping skills to handle the triggers.
According to Treating Addictions (Forcehimes, Miller Zweben, 2011) it is important to identify how

Summary Of Lewis Thomas On Societies As Organisms
We, human beings feel distinctly unique, individual and most importantly, unmistakably superior due
to our exclusive intelligence. This is why we, as a society, tend to look down on other types of life
forms, insect or animal, as they do not possess that desired intellect. Yet, Lewis Thomas, in his opinion
essay On Societies as Organisms , argues that human society has much to learn from the communal
accomplishment of other life forms. The author effectively conveys this main idea through his use of
analogy, enumeration of examples and through his level of language.
To begin, Thomas astutely uses analogies to make parallels between human society and other life
forms as to inform us of our deficiencies when contrasted with those other life forms. Thomas, first of
all, defines an organism as being a live computer (233) composed of component parts (233), an
accumulation of individuals communicating and working as one towards a common objective.
Subsequently, the analogy of the organism is used to represent the ideal human society. Hence, when
ants build their nest (233), the Hill (233), humans build their knowledge, accumulate a mountain of
knowledge (235). However, what Thomas wants us to acknowledge is that human knowledge is a
jigsaw puzzle in the sense that it is accumulated piece by piece, never all at once, never by a single
individual (Ziman qtd. in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his essay, Thomas stresses the importance of working collectively and communication in scientific

Francis Macomber
Intentions Unseen The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber by Ernest Hemingway is a story of a
married couple s trip on an African safari for hunting. It is on that trip where the audience learns of the
couple s, who are Francis and Margot Macomber, uneasy relationship. On that trip, they also meet a
character by the name of Robert Wilson, who becomes their guide there. The story ends tragically with
the death of Francis Macomber by being shot in the head by his wife Margot. At first while reading,
one would think Francis death was accidental because the situation was chaotic, with a buffalo trying
to attack them. However, others have said it to be with intent. Margot Macomber s state of mind was

Francis opinion about himself was recognized by Margot, resulting in her anxiety, because she realizes
that Francis now has the capability to leave her. Having also committed an act infidelity, there is no
escape and no telling what Francis would do next to their relationship. Margot had always liked
having control over Francis, so his sudden courage scares her. An analysis also states: Though Francis
s mate value is greatly increased by his successful shooting of the buffalo, and evolutionary thinking
would lead us to expect that this should benefit his wife, it is in Margot s case a threat, due primarily
to his knowledge of her infidelity (Sugiyama). This could result in Margot s frustration and believing
that the only thing left to do was to kill him. If she killed him, there was no way for him to divorce
her, and she could have his belongings, including money, to herself. As said by Grant, the relationship
between Macomber and Margot is based on their mutual weaknesses and could not have survived his
maturity. Insecurity playing a role in their relationship was significant. There are particular events in
the story that show that Margot was to blame for Francis death. After Francis was shot, Wilson is
telling Margot that she could have killed him by poison, because that is

How Patanjali Is Considered A Divine Messenger
Upanishadic wisdom converged on a shared belief in a universal law that guided the abiding presence
of religious and metaphysical forces in the lives of individuals and of the collective destiny of all
things in the universe. The Upanishadic teachings help us to understand how yoga evolved.
Patanjali is historically understood to have been a divine messenger, born some time between 500 BC
and 200 BC. The dates are uncertain to this day as the lives of the great sages and mystics were not
measured according to modern calendars, but rather, were imbued by the living oral traditions that
defined Upanishadic wisdom and knowledge. Some traditions held that Pantanjali was not born of
mother and father but was rather the incarnation of the god Adiesea. Adisesa is a great king cobra
whose body is the seal of the god Vishnu. The legend continues that the god Shiva, the king of dance,
invited Vishnu and other deities to see his famous dance, Tandava Nritya. As Shiva danced, Vishnu
immersed his own consciousness in the moment. His physical being undulated in rhythm with the
graceful movements of Shiva. During the performance of the dance, Vishnu was seated on Adisesa,
the great cobra. The cobra became short of breath under Vishnu s weight, which seemed to increase
with his enrapturement in the dance. The great cobra began to gasp for air. At the end of the dance,
Adesisa immediately felt release from the heavy pressure of Vishnu s body. Adesisa asked Vishnu,

My Understanding Of Personality Theory
To demonstrate my understanding of personality theory, I choose to create a personality profile for a
close friend. She is a very driven individual with some unique interests. I wanted to evaluate her
personality because she is a very close friend of mine and I know her vary well. I chose Allport s trait
theory because he uses 3 types of traits to describe people. I liked the way he organized traits in to
types of traits. I think its easier to understand his theory because of the organization. I organized my
friend s traits in to 3 categories: central, secondary, and cardinal. Allport s theory focuses on individual
differences. His theory suggest that individuals differ in the traits that predominate in there
personalities. some traits are common; others are unique (Cloninger 2013 page 128). He goes on to
explain that some traits are individual or unique while others are common. Central traits can affect
everyday behaviors. these are traits that your close friends or family would be able to point out if
asked. Examples of my friends central traits would be: optimistic, out spoken, individualistic, and
extroverted. I use these terms to describe her because I have noticed them consistently. Over time and
various situations, I have seen her behavior follow these traits. My friend is on the executive board of
an RSO. She enjoys talking to can spending time with the other members of her RSO. She also likes

Essay On Heat Up The Homeless
Heating up the Homeless
Small deeds done are better than great deeds planned, said Peter Marshall. Attention citizens of
Pennsylvania, you can do a good deed today by becoming a part of our Heating up the Homeless
Foundation, by donating old winter clothes to the homeless. First, we ask that everyone in the Elk
County Catholic School System brings in throw away winter clothing for the less fortunate. Next, we
ask that people in the Elk County community donate their time and effort to help sort and package the
clothes that we are sending out. Finally, we ask that our fellow Pennsylvanians assist by donating
funds for the cost of shipping the clothes.
Our school can contribute to this caring foundation by helping those in need. The students can make a
difference by giving any of their or their families old winter clothes to this fund. Not only can the
students donate, but also all of the faculty can give away some of their throw away wintertime attire
and tell all their friends and family to do the same for this foundation. The superintendent of the
school can help get all the other surrounding schools involved in providing winter wear to the
homeless. There are many people in the school that can help put a smile on many homeless people s
faces, just by giving us something that people might throw away. ... Show more content on

The angel Gabriel then reveals to Mary his true purpose in his visit to her. Don t be frightened, Mary,
for God has decided to bless you! You will become pregnant and have a son, and you are to name him
Jesus (Luke 1:30 31). Gabriel then tells Mary that she will bear the Son of God and he will reign over
Israel forever. Gabriel s final words are, For nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1: 37). Despite the
awesome, unexpected, unbelievable spectacle before her, Mary was able to accept that she would have
a baby despite being a virgin. Mary responded, I am the Lord s servant, and I am willing to accept

Women in World War II Essay
Women in World War II During World War II Hitler was skulking around Europe pretending to save
Germany, military minds in Washington were stonewalling women s organizations, patriotic pressures,
and anyone who had the temerity to suggest that women should be in the military. The politicians, in
typical gerrymandering fashion, made flimsy promises of considering an auxiliary of sorts while
quietly hoping it would all go away and secretly trying to figure out how to stop it. Fortunately
Congresswoman Edith Nourse Rogers and Eleanor Roosevelt thought otherwise. Congresswoman
Rogers introduced a bill on May 28 th, 1941, to establish a Women s Army Auxiliary Corps for service

Alienation is when someone is being isolated from a group or an activity to which one should be

suffers from depression. His brother Buck died in a Boat accident which Conrad feels responsible for.

everything from school to just life. He does not want to be around anymore. He alienates himself from
his friends, family, and just his life goes down hill. His depression causes alienation which results in
him wanting to end it all and commit suicide. In Frankenstein, The Monster that Victor Frankenstein

result the monster looks and others perceive him as a terrible beast while really he just wants people
and victor to treat and think of as a human. He is alienated from society which leads to him causing
many problems and wanting to get revenge by ruining his creator, Victor Frankenstein s life. Oedipus

Infertility Treatment
Stress can be broadly defined as any external and internal events that affects an organism s well being.
In attempt to maintain homeostasis, the body will respond to the psychological stress by modifying
physiological processes (Nargund, 2015). Psychological stress is a number of emotional events that
interrupts homeostasis. The disruption of homeostasis can affect many biological systems, such as
metabolism, vascular function, tissue repair, nervous system and reproductive system. Both emotional
and physical stress can have a negative impact on human reproductive function (Cousineau, 2007;
Jakobovits et al, 2002). Therefore, it is very important to know how to cope with stress when

Infertility can be curable through treatments, but going through infertility treatment can be very
challenging. There are two factors that can cause an increase on stress level of someone who s going
through infertility treatment: cost and time. These two factors can add to the stress level of couple
whose experiencing infertility. Stress or anxiety can negatively affect the treatment of infertility, and
can put the pregnancy at risk. Also any before and after psychological illness may affect fertilization
therapy. However, it is recommended to go through psychotherapeutic treatment while going through
infertility treatment. There are many researches supporting this idea and a lot of focus on different
psychotherapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Another important factor
regards the social support a patient gets from the partner, family and friends and the role that plays on
reducing stress during infertility treatment. Researchers suggested that social support from partner,
family and friends play a role on reducing infertility related stress, also and couples with social
support are more likely to go through infertility treatment successfully. However, partner support

The Beliefs Of Faith In Martin Luther s The Freedom Of God
When you hear the word faith, what comes to your mind? Do you think of religion, purpose, or your
belief in something?
What is faith? Is it a feeling, a thought, or a concept? As Martin Luther said in his book Freedom of a
Christian, faith is God s work in us, that changes us and gives new birth from God. When one thinks
of faith, they maybe think about their personal relationship with God and the unconditional love He
has. He who through faith is righteous shall live. The Word of God cannot be interpreted by any works
but only by faith. Martin Luther had stated that, It is clear that, as the soul needs only the Word of God
for its life and righteousness, so it is justified by faith alone and not any works. (Janz, A Reformation
Reader, pg 109)
There are three powers or virtues of faith that Martin Luther describes. Firstly, justification through
faith alone, which means we are free from the law and works as regards our justification and salvation.
Secondly, unity of man and Christ like bride to bridegroom which means faith unites the soul to
Christ, and lastly, the ability to ascribe to [God] truthfulness, righteousness, and whatever else should
be ascribed to one who is trusted. (Luther, The Freedom of a Christian, p. 103)
The first proposition of the three powers of faith is, Every Christian is by faith so exalted above all
things that, in spiritual power, he is completely lord of all things, so that nothing whatever can do him
any hurt; yea, all things are

In A Station Of The Metro, By Erza Pound
Life is short, spend your time wisely is a common phrase many individuals use to see the positive side
in their everyday life and to forget about the negativity that fills them because they only have one life
to live and there is no time for them to be filled with hatred. Time is forever but life is not. There
comes points in life where one has to accept that death is inevitable, and so start to analyze the world
around them to then realize the beauty of life itself. The following poems chosen all represent the
essence of time where psychological issues such as fear, grief, and memory are apparent when the
dealing with the issue of fragility of life. The poem In a Station of the Metro, by Erza Pound suggests
the brevity of life itself as in one glimpse, time has expired and one s life is over without even
realizing. Beginning with the poem s length, it is only two lines long which emphasizes how life runs
at a fast speed. One begins to read the poem, and as soon as you now it, the poem comes to an end.
Life is just like that, one starts off as an infant, believing that they have all the time in the world to do
many things, then without even noticing, time has passed by in a rapid speed and one is an adult just
like that. Pound uses a train as a metaphor to compare how life speeds away in an instant. The speaker

The Roles Of Children And Youth Actors Essay
Theatre feels like it is fading away from relevancy. Often times, theatre is dismissed at all levels,
whether it is from just community theatre or reserved for in laws and tourists. This means that theatre
has got two options. It will either become a completely rigid institution that loses its force and
relevance, or it needs to change and be able to become a powerful voice again. I think that what the
theatre needs is already available and in the theatre, but not used correctly. I feel that children are
some of the most important aspects of theatre and are overlooked because of archetypal child stars.
Now, this does not mean I endorse productions like Rent adapted for high schools or having twelve
year old s performing Spurt of Blood. Those sorts of plays are not appropriate and should be
performed by adults. However, that also means that they should be limited to Annie. I think that
children and youth actors are so beneficial because they offer the commitment, creativity, willingness,
and camaraderie that is needed to change theatre into an influential strength. Children in the theatre
have a lot of flaws. It is something that is impossible to overlook, so it must be acknowledged. They
do not always have the willpower not to look for family members in the audience or grab at costume
pieces that are uncomfortable. If it is a play that s cast is primarily children, they can quickly become
rowdy and run rampant backstage. When in the audience, they can become bored and

The Act Of Texas And The Sunset Advisory Commission ( Sac )
In 2013, a proposal was written by a branch of the Texas state government called the Sunset Advisory
Commission (SAC). This proposal would, if made into law, deregulate 14,568 respiratory therapists
(RTs) currently employed in Texas (Gaebler 6). This would mean that RTs along with 18 other
programs would not have to hold a state license to practice their craft (Sunset 52). Deregulation may
sound like a good idea on paper, however in practice, it is anything but. The potential negative
outcomes in the form of patient harm and possible death would far outweigh any benefit. Deregulation
of respiratory therapists in Texas began in the government as a proposal, was fought against by those
who say the potential danger in the idea, then ended back in the government with a compromise that
was written into law. In May of 2014, the SAC released a report. This report states that the
commission felt that RTs along with several other professions should no longer be regulated by an
agency of the government called the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) (52). One of the
many responsibilities of the DSHS is providing state licensure to individuals of various job disciplines
which both can and do have an impact on public health (43). The SAC brings up a few key points in
the report:
First, the SAC argues that, the DSHS is under staffed and underfunded for the amount of tasks it must
manage (4). The Sunset Advisory Commission s goal in the 2014 report is to reduce operation costs

occurrence of encephalitis was relevant to the immunization, cases which happened within 1 4 2day
risk window after the vaccination were considered relevant. The main disadvantage for this form of
data collection is that it relied on an electronic hub for collection, and there was probable delay in

Why Viruses Are Not Living Organisms
In general, viruses are a distinct group comparing to others. Viruses have similar characteristic as a
living organism, but it also lack some of the element that a living organism have. Viruses are a
hereditary material that may be single strand genome, or other may contain a double strand genome
which is ribonucleic acid or deoxyribonucleic acid. Viruses are very small species, when a virus is not
in contact with a cell, it is just a protein that contains a genome. In the other hand, when it is in contact
with a cell, it will requires help from the cells that have been inserted into to duplicates itself. I agree
that viruses are considered not living organisms because they can not do many functions by
themselves without entering a cell.
Cell theory define Cells as the basis of life in the universe, all living organisms are made of cell, and
all cells created by other old cells. There are many types of cells that can be categorize. Prokaryotic

Golgi apparatus is sacs of cisterna, that looks like folds. Golgi modifies, describes, packs, and

viruses are nonliving because they are dependent on the living cell and can not do much without

Essay on Hamlet and Tragedy
Hamlet and Tragedy
Hamlet: A Tragedy When you think of William Shakespeare, Hamlet is the first thing most people
think of, as his work. Hamlet is also a classic example of a tragedy. In all tragedies the hero suffers,
and usually dies at the end. All good pieces of literature written way back when, are usually tragedies.
The most important element is the amount of free will the character has. In every tragedy, the
character must display free will. If every action is controlled by a hero s destiny, then the hero s death
can t be avoided, and in a tragedy the sad part is that it could. Hamlet s death could have been avoided

The tragic hero must possess many good traits, as well as one flaw, which eventually leads to his
downfall. A tragic hero must be brave and noble. Hamlet is the perfect example of the tragic hero.
Hamlet has all the good traits needed to be a tragic hero. He is brave and daring. One example of this
is that when he went to England, he was taking a big risk and knew they were out to kill him. His
loyalty to his father, was the reason he was so angry with Claudius and his Mother. Eric Bentley said
that a Tragedy is dependent on comedy. Comic relief is used in tragedies to change the atmosphere of
the reader, who is constantly focusing on the death and corruption of a tragedy. If a play were full of
the death and sorrow, as in tragedies, it would make the reader very depressed and not like the play.
Some examples of this in Hamlet, are in the Gravedigger Scene, Talking to the Skull and the Throwing
of the book.
Towards the end of the play, there are two scenes in the graveyard. One is when Hamlet picks up a
skull, and the gravedigger tells him that the skull belonged to Yorick, the old king s jester. Hamlet tells
Horatio that he knew Yorick, and then realizes what we all become after we die, dust. He then plays
with the idea of life and death, and describes the finality of it. The gravedigger scene is the tragic
conclusion of the play. The second scene of comedy in this scene is when the gravediggers argue
whether Ophelia should be allowed to be

Canadian T.V. Serials
Now sex workers are commonly represented in the fictional universes created in Canadian T.V. and

had to. Canadian T.V. has traditionally not incorporated prostitution into very many of our programs
just due to the sheer nature of why Canadian T.V. is produced.
CBC, Rogers, and Bell CTV effectively own all national Canadian T.V. channels. The entertainment

Because of that, lewd or profane subjects and/or language are generally not included in these

One example of this is evident in a recent episode of CBC s Murdoch Mysteries where he enters a

This isn t the first time that the title character, Detective William Murdoch, has come into

Romanticism As A Source Of Spirituality
Classification
Romanticism is a time period in history based on a cultural revolution. It is defined differently based
on geographical location, however it overall incorporates the same common principles: (1)
imagination, (2) individuality, (3) nature as a source of spirituality, (4) looking to the past for wisdom,
and (5) seeing the common man as a hero. These common principles are what inspired writers and
artists of the time to fabricate ideas. This is how the period got named romanticism for the term
romantic, [was] long synonymous with false, fictitious and unnatural (Courthion, 1961, p. 7). Defining
the movement is what overtime pulled the art community away from the previous baroque era. By the
late 1700s romance thus had come to refer broadly to any work that could be distinguished from
works principally realistic in form and subject matter (Davey, 2006). Against the common
misconception, the Romantic Movement was not considered to be strongly influenced by love. Instead
the historically been associated with narratives of adventure, romance, and myth as opposed to
realistic stories or portrayals of history, politics, or everyday life (Romanticism, 2014).
The Beginning Historians associate the Romantic Movement as coming out of Europe as [it was a]
reaction to Napoleonic era conservatism and the political norms and the rationalization of nature
associated with Enlightenment (Romanticism, 2014). The focus on romantic literature commenced in

The Toronto Star As A Local Newspaper

The Toronto Star as a Local Newspaper
Local Canadian daily newspapers pose an important role in communication and media industries. The
continuing publications of local newspaper outlets encompass articles, news, advertisements, and can
be accessible either online or through print. Newspapers are parted into diverse segments of political
events, entertainment, crime, business, sports, and the weather to name a few categories. By
constructing different categories, the diverse matters create a space for readers to participate in local
and global public spheres. The public sphere permits individuals to discuss freely regarding areas
ranging anywhere from lifestyle to societal dilemmas, evoking conversation and debate with the
possibility of influencing political action. Journalists and the local newspaper open up the sphere to
interested parties who then converse on issues of mutual interests, trailed by a common opinion or
finding, to be made by either the writer or the readers of the media outlet. It is difficult to imagine how
life would have functioned without the emergence of newspapers perhaps the bourgeois would still
have represented the sphere of private people coming together as the public. The Toronto Star is an
excellent example of a local newspaper and thus, will be analyzed in terms of its contribution in
fostering the public sphere through its content, along with its relationship with its readers and

Describe Benihana As An Operating System
1. Describe Benihana as an operating system. Draw a process flow diagram.
In a general sense, Benihana s operating system is comparable to your typical American dining
restaurant, except that the main entrees are cooked in front of the patrons, which stands as their core
differentiator. Since we are given a broad sense of the times for each process, it is most valuable to
evaluate their operating system as a process flow (below) based on the experience from the moment
the customers walks in to the time they leave.
Upon entering and announcing themselves, they can either wait or defer to the lounge for alcohol.
Once seated by the waitress, their order is placed, including beverages, soup and salad. After a brief
wait, the orders are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To owner, Rocky Aoki and his team, their understanding on consumer patterns became their
advantage; the consumer s distrust of exotic food and their enjoyment of eating in exotic surroundings,
and the customer s interest in watching their food cooked. Though unique, this system allows the
business for greater control on the flow and options given to the customer.
On the menu, a variety of appetizers, soup, salad and beverages are offered; however, the limited
option to the main entrée: steak, shrimp or chicken allows for the business to control their food
expense at a minimal rate of 30 35% in sales. Consequently, less options also equates to less waste
since there s less to prep and the majority of each ingredient is utilized for show or consumption (i.e.
end pieces of steak is used for show and rarely eaten). When prepped and brought out, the chef does
not risk using too much or too little ingredients since it is all portioned and easily prepped to order in
the kitchen.
As part of the experience, more attentive service is given to the patrons, whereby a waitress and chef
is designated for each party. Since there are only two tables with each table serving up to eight patrons
at a time the waitress and chef are not overwhelmed. The direct attention given to the patrons by the
chefs is savored by patrons; Rocky prides the company s extensive three year formal

Relationship Driven
B2B vs. B2C Marketing
Business to business (B2B) is a term used to describe transactions of goods or services between
businesses as opposed to business to consumer (B2C) which describes activities of commercial
organizations serving end customers with products and/or services. B2B and B2C marketing is
different. There are profound differences that a business must remember when developing marketing
activities.
Although the marketing programs are the same for each type of business (events, direct marketing,
internet marketing, advertising, public relations, word of mouth, and alliances), how they are
executed, what they say, and the outcome of the marketing activities differ (Murphy, 2007). The
following table summarizes some of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a B2B company can provide a quality product or service, even if the price is higher than the
competition a customer will be willing to pay, provided there is a perceived value in what is being
sold. That value can be in the form of customer service, engineering design assistance, on time
delivery, and quality.
In conclusion, marketing for B2B and B2C markets are quite different. While marketing programs are
the same, how they are executed, what they say, and the outcome of the marketing activities differ.
B2B marketing is relationship driven while B2C marketing is more product driven. The market size
also varies between B2B and B2C markets. B2B markets are measured in the thousands while B2C
markets are measured in the millions. Not only is the market different in B2B and B2C but so is the
buyer. The business buyer understands the products or services and needs to buy the products or
services to help the company to stay profitable, competitive, and successful. Therefore, B2B
marketing must be more complex. Consumer buyers are looking for the best price and trust within the
company and products. Therefore, B2C marketing needs to convince customer of their trust and
loyalty. Brand building is also important in both B2B and B2C marketing but for different reasons. In
B2B markets brand will only help a business be considered, not necessarily chosen. In B2C

The San Andreas Fault and its role in Plate Tectonics and Earthquake Prediction
The San Andreas Fault is one of the most widely studied faults in the world. Scientists use an array of
methods in collecting data and providing analysis of fault characteristics both past and present.
Presently there are many differing hypothesis and models used to describe crustal movements and
deformation within the Pacific and North American plate boundary. Historical earthquakes along this
fault have proven to be rather large and devastating. This is important since the San Andreas Fault
runs along many highly populated areas throughout Northern and Southern California. Through
further research and analysis of this fault system scientists hope to solve ... Show more content on

The Loma Prieta earthquake occurred on October 17, 1989 at 5:04 p.m. It had a moment magnitude of
6.9, and lasted 15 to 20 seconds. The epicenter was near Loma Prieta, and this earthquake again
caused severe damage to the San Francisco Bay Area, this time claiming 63 lives but almost 4,000
people were injured as a result of the earthquake.
The earthquakes above give a brief glimpse into the importance of analyzing past and present fault
configurations. If scientists could make a breakthrough in this area perhaps we could better predict
earthquake activity and better prepare ourselves if it is deemed a potential disaster is looming.
Methods of Analysis
Scientist are struggling to come up with a widely accepted model that will explain the role of non
vertical strike slip fault segments, crustal movement and deformation within Pacific North American
plate boundary. Multiple methods of analysis are being used; some of which are described below. *
Measurements of Geologic uplift and slip rates in many areas of the San Andreas Fault a detailed
record of strike slip activity is provided. By studying the sediments deposited in a given area and
comparing them to an established age control it is possible to determine the rates and timing of
changes of tectonic deformation. * Velocity Fields and Pole of Rotation Using the Southern California
Earthquake Center s Velocity Field, which contains

The Importance Of Assisted Suicide In The Suicide Tourist
I totally agree with Craig s choice to die at Dignitas because as his wife mentioned in the movie that
she had lost him six months before. He was present physically but the life within him was already lost.
Also, if we think about it, Craig was lucky to have a loving family and a supporting wife by his side
through his journey. He also had money to cover the cost of his voluntary suicide as well as his
funeral. Everyone is not as lucky as Craig. In the U.S, it is difficult to have good health even with
insurance coverage. As we watched the couples in Michael Moore s movie husband had multiple heart
attack and wife had gone through chemotherapy although they were covered by the insurance they
were left homeless with all the medical bills. In Suicide Tourist, Craig knew what was the outcome of
his disease. His health was only going to get worse from where he was.
We saw a hint of such legalization during Dr. Death s era in the 1990s. Dignitas in a way is replicated
after Dr. Kevorkian. The steps for voluntary suicide in The Suicide Tourist were pretty much parallel
to how Dr. Kevorkian carried out his plan. In the US, legalization of facilities like Dignitas will be
opposed because our society is highly conservative. In a country where marriage between same sex is
highly opposed, there is a small chance for the allowance of assisted suicide. Religious people may
believe that life is God s gift and we as human beings do not have any right to take it away. However,

Critical Analysis #3: The Internet Should Have Killed Weird Al If you examine the pop charts from 30
years ago, it is hard to identify many artists who ve managed to stay relevant into today s generation.
Weird Al, is one artist that has been active in the music industry since the mid 1970 s and has been
able to keep up with the times way before the dawn of social media, online media, and vlogging. For
his most recent album, Weird Al designed a creative advertising strategy for the digital age with his
#8videos8days experiment. This strategy included eight videos in eight days for eight songs from the
new album on a variety of sites ranging from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weird Al risks the possibility that the younger audiences that he typically reaches may not be as
interested in his videos as he ages and portrays what reminds them of their grandfathers.
Unfortunately for Weird Al, he is not getting any younger and the majority of those who go online to
watch videos and engage in social media are millennials. 74 percent of 14 18 year olds and 68 percent
of 19 24 year olds in the U.S. use YouTube today (Bennett, 2014) a significant portion of the
millennial group uses this platform that Weird Al uses to show his videos and new song releases.
Weird Al is going to have to find new trendy ways to keep the younger audience interested in his
content and music which is going to be discussed next. Many opportunities exist for Weird Al with the
new focus on releasing singles and communicating videos, music, and content through social media.
He can build awareness for his brand and generate a viral trend on a global scale something he would
have had challenges with when dealing with a record label that has many laws and requirements for
countries outside of the United States. Outside of the United States, countries such as The United
Kingdom and India are becoming increasingly large YouTube markets (Ali, 2014). The opportunity to
reach a much wider audience on a global scale is beneficial to his future especially through a platform

lowered and the last rockets fired to seek help and the last wireless signals as well. The maiden
voyage, titanic, with some of the third class passengers was gone down about 2:00A.M., the 15th day
of April, 1912. Finally, the rocket of Carpathian was sighted by boats about 3:30A.M. of April
15,1912 and they picked up the first boat No. 2 until the last boat No. 12 heads for New York with 705
survivors.
Conclusion
This book written by Walter Lord reminds us about the legendary disaster about the ship, Titanic. It
can be a relieved to those who survived and can be never forget of many who did not. In conclusion, I
was amazed of the facts present in the book that gathered from the survivors. The survivors have two
qualities in common: being spectacular and wonderfully thoughtful. They were at their most generous
and contempt any touch of selfishness to

Report on Chemical composition and Structure of CSH

Introduction:
The C S H gel is the most abundant reaction product in cement, occupying about half of the paste
volume, it is also responsible for most of the properties of cement paste. This is just not because it is a
strong or stable phase but because it forms a continuous layer that binds the cement particles together.
All the other hydration products of cement form discrete crystals that are naturally strong but do not
have good connections to the solid phases they are in contact with hence cannot contribute much to
the overall strength of the cement paste. C S H gel gets the ability of the to act as a binding phase from
its nanometer level structure.
As C S H gel grows outward from the cement particles, it does not form a single large block or
monolithic solid phase but instead develops a complex internal system of tiny pores, called gel pores.
Gel pores are hundreds or thousands of times smaller than the original capillary pores which are
relatively large. The liquid water present in the gel pores is not part of the solid C S H phase
chemically but it is physically isolated, thus it cannot undergo any further chemical reaction with the
cement.
When hydrated cement paste is observed under microscope at moderate level of magnification, we
could see two apparently different types of C S H gel. One of these gel is less dense and more porous
that appears to occupy

  • 3. Essay on Julius Caesar 1. Early life Julius Caesar was born on July 13, 100 B.C. Though he was a descendent of the oldest patrician family, Julius Caesar grew up in a very poor district of Rome called Subura. As a child, he studied martial arts, history, and law ( Julius Caesar ). At the age of seventeen, Julius married Cornelia, the daughter of Luciussulla, who was a dictator of Rome. Because Luciussulla did not approve of the marriage, he tried to force the two to divorce, but they both refused. Julius Caesar studied philosophy and oratory in Greece. Soon after returning to Rome, Cornelia became pregnant. Named after her father, the baby s name was Julia. Cornelia died in 68 B.C., leaving Caesar to care for their daughter (Gruen,12). Also, in 59 B.C., Pompey married Caesar s daughter, Julia (Gruen,13). Caesar now desired to be governor of Gaul for a five year term. Also a great general, Caesar spent years conquering Gaul. He became a loyal friend to many of the people there. While conquering, Caesar became very powerful and very popular. His many conquests continued and his army grew stronger and stronger (Combee,95). Fortunately, Caesar s campaigns in Gaul brought great wealth and popularity to Rome. They also brought great popularity to him ( Julius Caesar ). To many people, Caesar was a hero (Gruen,13). After his second term as governor in Gaul, the hero returned to Rome. Growing very jealous of Caesar, Pompey joined his enemies. The Senate persistently tried to disband Caesar s powerful army. He refused to do this, which caused major friction with the Senate (Combee,95). Then, on January 10, 49 B.C., Caesar crossed the Rubicon River with his army. This was the start of the Civil War. Afraid of the more powerful army, Pompey and his army retreated. Though, this was not the end. Though they knew of his great conquering abilities, the enemies continued to plan the downfall of Julius Caesar ( Julius Caesar ). As a conquer, Caesar was one of the greatest. • 4. Eliot s Influences On Literature Frederick Douglass and T.S. Eliot s Influences On Literature The nineteenth and twentieth century were pivotal times in the world of literature. Many new elements of writing and style were evolving and authors all over the world were finding ways to present what they felt most passionate about. Some writers opened their readers up to newer ideas by the means of, as Ezra Pound once stated, making it new. Two writers in particular who did a fantastic job of this were Frederick Douglass and T.S. Eliot. Frederick Douglass s most popular work is his autobiography, The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass. In this story, Douglass makes romanticism new. On the contrast, T.S. Elliot is widely known for his poem, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, in which he makes new of imagery. While Frederick Douglass and T.S. Eliot come from completely different backgrounds and write with different styles, they share a few commonalities as well as both being influences on literary society. Frederick Douglass was born into slavery in Talbot County, Maryland around the supposed year of 1818. Like many other slaves, his exact date of birth remains unknown. Douglass was an abolitionist for slavery as well as a supporter for women s rights. Due to his works and accomplishments, it is obvious that Douglass was a major contributor to the literary tradition of American Romanticism. After escaping slavery, Frederick Douglass wrote his most famous autobiography, The Narrative of the Life of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nt1310 Unit 7 Lab Report Unfortunately, if we want to know how many moves it will take to transfer 100 disks from pole A to pole B, we will first have to find the moves it takes to transfer 99 disks, 98 disks, and so on and so forth. Therefore the recursive pattern will not be much help in finding the time it would take to transfer all the disks. However, the recursive pattern can help us generate more numbers to find an explicit (non recursive) pattern. Here s how to find the number of moves needed to transfer larger numbers of disks from pole A to pole C, remembering that n equals the number of moves needed to transfer n 1 disks from post A to post C: 1.For 1 disk it takes 1 move to transfer 1 disk from post A to post C; 2.For 2 disks, it will take 3 moves: 2n + 1 = 21 + 1 = 3 3.For 3 disks, it will take 7 moves: 2n + 1 = 23 + 1 = 7 4.For 4 disks, it will take 15 moves: 2n + 1 = 27 + 1 =15 5.For 5 disks, it will take 31 moves: 2n + 1 = 215 + 1 =31 6.For 6 disks... ... It is important to note that the exponential function is actually y=ax where a 0. Using y=1x would only produce a horizontal line. Therefore the next value used was y=2x. In order to make the function fit better with the points we make transformations that slightly change the function. The first step is to lower the line so that the line can become closer to the data points. With this data set it sloa stands to reason that there are negative numbers very much possible. • 6. John Dewey Progressive Education Analysis In the writing, Experience and Education (1938), John Dewey recognizes and refutes the argument that progressive education lacks student control. He clarifies (1938), that his ideas of progressive education certainly possess student control and that it, in fact, requires a more developed pedagogical knowledge than traditional school management systems (Dewey, 1938). The control is social, much like that of the outside world. He provides examples that illustrate this concept in real life: the competitive game in which rules are natural and accepted by all players and the cooperative family unit, in which each member plays a part (Dewey,1938). There is control present in these two out of classroom situations, but it is social control build upon relationships and a common task, instead of a top down system. Dewey (1938), explains that control and freedom can, and do, co exist; social control, does not have to involve the restriction of personal freedom (Dewey, 1938, p. 21). In his model, there is not a being of external restriction or regulation, or the desire of one person to exhibit obvious authority on the group. Instead, individuals are part of the community, not outside of it (Dewey, 1938, p. 21). All members of the group must participate and feel as though they are part of the group, and the controls that are set in place, are for the betterment of the group as a whole, and must be perceived that way (Dewey, 1938). Second, the engineering law requires confidentiality therefore it is irrelevant that peter report such an issue that is confidential in the company. Third, the tests were only taken 400 feet from the surface of the groundwater, however maybe there is contamination deeper or other marine life were affected. Four, most important concept is the conflict of interest since Peter had to either obey the engineering law that requires confidentiality and neglect his morals or obey the state law and lose his friendship and career. Five, Jesse trusted Peter to keep this mysterious spill between them; he should be loyal to him since they have a trusting relationship. Additionally, Jesse noted that he cannot have a consulting engineer who doesn t value client loyalty. On the other hand, there are some unknown facts in the issue. According to state law all spills must be reported but what about spills that occurred years ago? Where the effects of spill seem to have dissipated? • 9. The Revealed Preference Theory Approach To Consumer Behavior 3. Revealed Preference Theory 3.1 Introduction Mr. Paul Samuelson introduced the Revealed Preference Theory to explain the consumer behavior. It is a method of analyzing choices of consumers, mostly used for comparing the influence of policies on consumer behavior. The preferences of consumers can be revealed by their purchasing habits. Revealed preference theory emerged because existing theories of consumer demand were based on a diminishing marginal rate of substitution (MRS). This diminishing MRS relied on the assumption that consumers always decide to maximize their utility. While utility maximization was not a controversial assumption, the underlying utility functions could not be measured with great certainty. Revealed preference theory ... Unity in Revolution Throughout the year of 1776, Americans developed ideas of independence from their mother country, Great Britain, which turned into a necessary cause that was fought for. Revolutionary Summer, by Joseph J. Ellis, goes into detail about the relationship between the Continental Congress and the Continental Army during that summer. His work elaborates on the mistakes of American leaders, as well as those made by Britain, and how they affected the war. Communication became important on both sides, and it was vital for the colonies to agree on how to reach the common goal of freedom. The battle ended up being one of the lowest points in the whole war since the Continental Army had failed to maintain their unity, which led to a disheartened group torn apart by agony. After uniting in declaring independence, the different states within the colony were eager with their ability to construct their own laws. They became too preoccupied with their own governments that they did not work as one body to strengthen the Continental Army. Throughout the summer, although there was The Cause , there was no such thing as We the people of the United States (114). According to Dinesh D Souza in her article Abraham Lincoln: Tyrant, Hypocrite, or Consummate Statesman , he was not, however, an abolitionist. What was the reason behind the Civil War? According to Carter G. Woodson and Charles H. Wesley, when the Civil War started, Lincoln, in order to stay on the good side of supporters who had voted him into office, publicly stated that he did not want to interfere with the slavery in the South ( The Negro in the Civil War 361). Contrary to claims that he did not approve of slavery, Lincoln clearly compromised the rights of slaves to be free in order to appease supporters of slavery by evading the subject of slavery in the South. D Souza also asserts that Lincoln stated in correspondence to Andrew Stephens, the former vice president of the Confederacy, that while we think it is wrong, and ought to be restricted, it was not his intention to get ... There Are Many Theoretical Concepts Theoretical concepts There are many theoretical concepts to explain addictions, a few that I see being used in NA and AA meetings is the Disease Model, Social Learning Model, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. In both of the meetings I attended the members stood up and admitted they are powerless over their addiction. This falls in with the Disease Model. According to the disease model the addiction is in the individual s brain. Therefore, the addict is incapable of controlling their own use (Forcehimes, Miller Zweben, 2011, pg. 25). Research has also shown that certain individuals have a genetic risk factor that is likely to increase the likelihood of them developing an addiction. This put the blame on the addiction and not ... Another role that is used to help explain what shapes an addiction is Social Learning Model. Individuals modify their choices and use of substance in response to changes in the social environment (pg. 25). This is done by watching family members or friends use drugs or alcohol. It can also be done by going to parties or events, and drinking to feel comfortable. To overcome this the individual needs to change their relationships and social environment that makes them want to use. Individuals in the support groups are coming together to find a support from peers that don t encourage them to use substances. They work together and build each other up on their road to recovery. In both groups I witness love and support from everyone. If one person admitted they were struggling the member next them would put their arm around them and give them encouraging words. They become each other s support. Practice/Intervention Every addict has their own trigger that can push them towards relapse. For an addict to overcome their addiction they must understand what their triggers are. Then it s trying to understand how to avoid that trigger or come up with healthier coping skills to handle the triggers. • 21. Summary Of Lewis Thomas On Societies As Organisms We, human beings feel distinctly unique, individual and most importantly, unmistakably superior due to our exclusive intelligence. This is why we, as a society, tend to look down on other types of life forms, insect or animal, as they do not possess that desired intellect. Yet, Lewis Thomas, in his opinion essay On Societies as Organisms , argues that human society has much to learn from the communal accomplishment of other life forms. The author effectively conveys this main idea through his use of analogy, enumeration of examples and through his level of language. To begin, Thomas astutely uses analogies to make parallels between human society and other life forms as to inform us of our deficiencies when contrasted with those other life forms. Thomas, first of all, defines an organism as being a live computer (233) composed of component parts (233), an accumulation of individuals communicating and working as one towards a common objective. Subsequently, the analogy of the organism is used to represent the ideal human society. Hence, when ants build their nest (233), the Hill (233), humans build their knowledge, accumulate a mountain of knowledge (235). However, what Thomas wants us to acknowledge is that human knowledge is a jigsaw puzzle in the sense that it is accumulated piece by piece, never all at once, never by a single individual (Ziman qtd. in ... What is faith? Is it a feeling, a thought, or a concept? As Martin Luther said in his book Freedom of a Christian, faith is God s work in us, that changes us and gives new birth from God. When one thinks of faith, they maybe think about their personal relationship with God and the unconditional love He has. He who through faith is righteous shall live. It will either become a completely rigid institution that loses its force and relevance, or it needs to change and be able to become a powerful voice again. I think that what the theatre needs is already available and in the theatre, but not used correctly. I feel that children are some of the most important aspects of theatre and are overlooked because of archetypal child stars. Now, this does not mean I endorse productions like Rent adapted for high schools or having twelve year old s performing Spurt of Blood. Those sorts of plays are not appropriate and should be performed by adults. However, that also means that they should be limited to Annie. This proposal would, if made into law, deregulate 14,568 respiratory therapists (RTs) currently employed in Texas (Gaebler 6). This would mean that RTs along with 18 other programs would not have to hold a state license to practice their craft (Sunset 52). Deregulation may sound like a good idea on paper, however in practice, it is anything but. The potential negative outcomes in the form of patient harm and possible death would far outweigh any benefit. Deregulation of respiratory therapists in Texas began in the government as a proposal, was fought against by those who say the potential danger in the idea, then ended back in the government with a compromise that was written into law. Viruses have similar characteristic as a living organism, but it also lack some of the element that a living organism have. Viruses are a hereditary material that may be single strand genome, or other may contain a double strand genome which is ribonucleic acid or deoxyribonucleic acid. Viruses are very small species, when a virus is not in contact with a cell, it is just a protein that contains a genome. Hamlet is also a classic example of a tragedy. In all tragedies the hero suffers, and usually dies at the end. All good pieces of literature written way back when, are usually tragedies. The most important element is the amount of free will the character has. In every tragedy, the character must display free will. If every action is controlled by a hero s destiny, then the hero s death can t be avoided, and in a tragedy the sad part is that it could. Hamlet s death could have been avoided many times. A tragic hero must be brave and noble. Hamlet is the perfect example of the tragic hero. Hamlet has all the good traits needed to be a tragic hero. He is brave and daring. One example of this is that when he went to England, he was taking a big risk and knew they were out to kill him. His loyalty to his father, was the reason he was so angry with Claudius and his Mother. Eric Bentley said that a Tragedy is dependent on comedy. Comic relief is used in tragedies to change the atmosphere of the reader, who is constantly focusing on the death and corruption of a tragedy. If a play were full of the death and sorrow, as in tragedies, it would make the reader very depressed and not like the play. Some examples of this in Hamlet, are in the Gravedigger Scene, Talking to the Skull and the Throwing of the book. Towards the end of the play, there are two scenes in the graveyard. One is when Hamlet picks up a skull, and the gravedigger tells him that the skull belonged to Yorick, the old king s jester. Hamlet tells Horatio that he knew Yorick, and then realizes what we all become after we die, dust. He then plays with the idea of life and death, and describes the finality of it. The gravedigger scene is the tragic conclusion of the play. The second scene of comedy in this scene is when the gravediggers argue whether Ophelia should be allowed to be ... Serials Now sex workers are commonly represented in the fictional universes created in Canadian T.V. and film as women who are down on their luck and who have found their way into the trade because they had to. Canadian T.V. has traditionally not incorporated prostitution into very many of our programs just due to the sheer nature of why Canadian T.V. is produced. CBC, Rogers, and Bell CTV effectively own all national Canadian T.V. channels. The entertainment based fictional television programs they produce generally appeal to the widest audience possible. • 40. Romanticism As A Source Of Spirituality Classification Romanticism is a time period in history based on a cultural revolution. It is defined differently based on geographical location, however it overall incorporates the same common principles: (1) imagination, (2) individuality, (3) nature as a source of spirituality, (4) looking to the past for wisdom, and (5) seeing the common man as a hero. These common principles are what inspired writers and artists of the time to fabricate ideas. This is how the period got named romanticism for the term romantic, [was] long synonymous with false, fictitious and unnatural (Courthion, 1961, p. 7). Defining the movement is what overtime pulled the art community away from the previous baroque era. By the late 1700s romance thus had come to refer broadly to any work that could be distinguished from works principally realistic in form and subject matter (Davey, 2006). Against the common misconception, the Romantic Movement was not considered to be strongly influenced by love. Instead the historically been associated with narratives of adventure, romance, and myth as opposed to realistic stories or portrayals of history, politics, or everyday life (Romanticism, 2014). The Beginning Historians associate the Romantic Movement as coming out of Europe as [it was a] reaction to Napoleonic era conservatism and the political norms and the rationalization of nature associated with Enlightenment (Romanticism, 2014). The Toronto Star As A Local Newspaper COMM 2P98 Sara Posen Russell Johnson March 8, 2016 The Toronto Star as a Local Newspaper Local Canadian daily newspapers pose an important role in communication and media industries. The continuing publications of local newspaper outlets encompass articles, news, advertisements, and can be accessible either online or through print. Newspapers are parted into diverse segments of political events, entertainment, crime, business, sports, and the weather to name a few categories. By constructing different categories, the diverse matters create a space for readers to participate in local and global public spheres. The public sphere permits individuals to discuss freely regarding areas ranging anywhere from lifestyle to societal dilemmas, evoking conversation and debate with the possibility of influencing political action. Journalists and the local newspaper open up the sphere to interested parties who then converse on issues of mutual interests, trailed by a common opinion or finding, to be made by either the writer or the readers of the media outlet. It is difficult to imagine how life would have functioned without the emergence of newspapers perhaps the bourgeois would still have represented the sphere of private people coming together as the public. B2B and B2C marketing is different. There are profound differences that a business must remember when developing marketing activities. Although the marketing programs are the same for each type of business (events, direct marketing, internet marketing, advertising, public relations, word of mouth, and alliances), how they are executed, what they say, and the outcome of the marketing activities differ (Murphy, 2007). While marketing programs are the same, how they are executed, what they say, and the outcome of the marketing activities differ. B2B marketing is relationship driven while B2C marketing is more product driven. The market size also varies between B2B and B2C markets. The business buyer understands the products or services and needs to buy the products or services to help the company to stay profitable, competitive, and successful. Therefore, B2B marketing must be more complex. Consumer buyers are looking for the best price and trust within the company and products. The Importance Of Assisted Suicide In The Suicide Tourist I totally agree with Craig s choice to die at Dignitas because as his wife mentioned in the movie that she had lost him six months before. He was present physically but the life within him was already lost. Also, if we think about it, Craig was lucky to have a loving family and a supporting wife by his side through his journey. He also had money to cover the cost of his voluntary suicide as well as his funeral. Everyone is not as lucky as Craig. In the U.S, it is difficult to have good health even with insurance coverage. As we watched the couples in Michael Moore s movie husband had multiple heart attack and wife had gone through chemotherapy although they were covered by the insurance they were left homeless with all the medical bills. In Suicide Tourist, Craig knew what was the outcome of his disease. His health was only going to get worse from where he was. We saw a hint of such legalization during Dr. Death s era in the 1990s. Dignitas in a way is replicated after Dr. Kevorkian. The steps for voluntary suicide in The Suicide Tourist were pretty much parallel to how Dr. Kevorkian carried out his plan. In the US, legalization of facilities like Dignitas will be opposed because our society is highly conservative. Report On Chemical Composition And Structure Of Csh CE 2020: Construction Materials Report on Chemical composition and Structure of CSH Arjit Soni ES13B1005 Introduction: The C S H gel is the most abundant reaction product in cement, occupying about half of the paste volume, it is also responsible for most of the properties of cement paste. This is just not because it is a strong or stable phase but because it forms a continuous layer that binds the cement particles together. All the other hydration products of cement form discrete crystals that are naturally strong but do not have good connections to the solid phases they are in contact with hence cannot contribute much to the overall strength of the cement paste. C S H gel gets the ability of the to act as a binding phase from its nanometer level structure. As C S H gel grows outward from the cement particles, it does not form a single large block or monolithic solid phase but instead develops a complex internal system of tiny pores, called gel pores. Gel pores are hundreds or thousands of times smaller than the original capillary pores which are relatively large. The liquid water present in the gel pores is not part of the solid C S H phase chemically but it is physically isolated, thus it cannot undergo any further chemical reaction with the cement. When hydrated cement paste is observed under microscope at moderate level of magnification, we could see two apparently different types of C S H gel.
