Amenorrhoea
INTRODUCTION
Amenorrhoea is the absence of menstrual bleeding. It is a normal feature in prepubertal, pregnant and
postmenopausal women. Pregnancy is the first to be considered in females with amenorrhoea in
reproductive age. In the absence of pregnancy, the challenge is to determine the exact cause of
amenorrhoea.
Primary amenorrhoea is difficult to define as there is a great variation in the time of onset of
menstruation. However, it coincides well with the development of puberty or secondary sexual
characteristics. Undeveloped secondary sexual characteristics at a certain age indicates problem.
Therefore, the definition of primary amenorrhoea needs to include the development of secondary
sexual characteristics as well. Primary amenorrhoea occurs when there is ... Show more content on

The vaginal length, presence or absence of the uterus and its size as well as the condition of the
ovaries can be elicited by performing pelvic examination. Pelvic examination may be inappropriate in
young girl who is not sexually active. Per rectal examination gives similar information that is given by
pelvic examination.
Laboratory evaluation
The levels of FSH and LH are important in determining the ovarian axis problems. If history and
physical examination findings are suggestive of hyperandrogenism, androgen testings which include
testosterone, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEAS), androstenedione, and 17 OH progesterone to
determine the organ of cause (e.g.: adrenal gland or ovary) are helpful. History and examination
suggestive of hyperprolactinaemia or thyroid disorders require evaluation of the levels of prolactin and
thyroid function.
When the prolactin level is elevated, a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the head is required.
This imaging helps in visualising any abnormality in the hypothalamus or pituitary

Evelyn Boyd Granville
When people think about mathematicians, they typically refer to white, doctorate educated male.
However, there are more women budding into the field of mathematics. This paper will focus on one
special woman, an African American woman by the name of Evelyn Boyd Granville. She is not the
first African American woman to receive a doctorate in mathematics, but she, unlike Euphemia Lofton
Haynes, stayed more out of the education field and primarily worked for NASA, contributing to many
expeditions in space. Her contributions have inspired many young girls to look into and pursue a
career in the field of mathematics. Granville was born on May 1st, 1924, to father William Boyd and
mother Julia Walker Boyd. She was raised in Washington D.C. by her mother and her aunt, both of
whom worked as examiners for the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing (Williams). Granville was
the younger of two children, with her older sister being Doris. Granville attended Dunbar High
School, which was a segregated institution, and graduated as valedictorian. Because her high school

racist stereotypes that had held women like her back for years. She opened up positions for women of

The Government Should Tax Churches
Hypothetically, someone goes to church on Sunday and is asked by their pastor to donate 10% of their
annual income to help feed the hungry and agrees to do so. They later find out that only 3% of the
church s income actually goes to helping the poor and the rest is being used to expand the church and
its resources. They then realize that a portion of the income donated is not going to the cause they
want to support. So where are their offerings and donations actually going? Even though non profit
churches play a crucial social service for an abundance of people, the government should tax churches
because it is not in the best interest for all of the public when we all have to make up lost revenue for
these establishments, it would decrease group leaders from taking advantage of tax breaks, and taxing
churches could provide increased revenue to help with other important issues. In 1789,the First
Amendment established Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion... This
means that the Federal and State Governments cannot be partial in showing support of any
denomination or religious organization. An example being that the nations early attachment to the
Church of England. Three years after this amendment was written, it was ratified by the states of the
union. Religious organizations across the U.S. receive tax exemptions in regulation to exercise the 1st

Milkman s Use Of Contrast And Mirror Images In Chapter Five
Chapter 5 presents a series of contrasts and mirror images that reflect the tenuous relationships
between various characters and provide conflicting perspectives on love, sex, and survival.
Milkman s pondering his impending death at the hands of Hagar, his distraught ex lover, at the
beginning of the chapter evokes many similar references to the presence of death throughout the
novel. For example, note that Milkman s picturing his own death as a spurt of wine red blood
foreshadows Hagar s funeral scene at the end of Chapter 13, when a sympathetic wino drops his liquor
bottle, spurting emerald glass and jungle red wine everywhere. Resigned to let Hagar kill him if she
wants to and can, Milkman is almost exhilarated by thoughts of death:

Angela s Duty In Angelas Ashes
William Faulkner possesses a strong idea that a writer is given the privilege and duty of making man
prevail. According to Faulkner this is the only thing that makes writing worth the effort put into it, and
if an author cannot accomplish this duty there is no need for writing at all. Faulkner simplifies this
complex obligation by presenting man as he really is through the thruths of his heart, which means
including what really happens to man from agony to compassion and sacrifice and endurance. Many
authors, including Frank McCourt, take on this duty and create a piece of literature that depicts man as
his true self in order to assure he prevails instead of merely edur[ing]. Frank McCourt honors this duty
as a writer throughout his memoir, Angela s Ashes. McCourt describes his journey to adult hood in a
genuine way that shows not only the positive, but also the agonizing parts of his life. McCourt
includes these completely contrasting types of experiences in order to help him accomplish the writer
s duty because they both involve immense amounts of feeling. The writer s duty in McCourt s work is
expressed throughout the entire work from McCourt s life as a child in the beginning of his memoir to
the end as he becomes a true man. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Goldman Sachs in late 2005 to represent the eleven countries it thought could potentially have a BRIC
like impact in rivaling in the G7 nations. The N11 countries are Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran,
South Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam. Although varied both
geographically and economically, these 11 nations have highlights in like manner that are accepted to
single out their high financial potential.
All have extensive and developing populations. Between 1980 and 2008, population development was

As you see, over the years the world has glowed up. The past may have seemed poor, but because of
them we have better inventions in our society today. (Or that s what some of us think.)They were the
inventors, we experienced their moments. We have the ability to expand the technologies/inventions
by making them better. With a little knowledge and creativity people have expanded what it is today.
The biggest thing that we use now days is technologies. Everywhere you go, everywhere you ll see, it

advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has

should slow down by giving ourselves some space to think about our values and where it s taking us. I
do agree with him on this one. My reason is because, now days we do stick our noses in our cell
phones. We get lured into it more and more as we use them. The messaging and the calling distracts us
from the old fashion way. I loved the past when they would speak to each other face to face 24/7. The
messaging took place of the old fashioned hand written letters. If we focus too much on the New
advanced technologies, I do think that we will become distracted on what the past has brung us. He
says, Our inventions are wont to be pretty toys, which distract our attention from serious things. They
are but improved means to an unimproved end, an end which it was already but too easy to arrive at. I
don t think technologies are toys because, they do come in handy most of the time. One thing they do
is distract us. You rarely see kids playing outside anymore because they re now busy playing video

This requirement might deter new entrants.
2. Low product differentiation and economies of scale: There isn t much product differentiation at play
in the retail industry as there are well known manufacturers whose products are offered for sale, which
leaves price to compete on. Current well established retailers with thousands of stores enjoy the
economies of scale to control their cost that a new entrant might not be able to replicate after
immediately entering the industry.
3. Switching Cost: If there is anything that can go in favor of a new entrant is switching cost of the
buyer. Only loyalty buyers typically have these days is to value. If a new entrant can offer better value,
buyers can switch to the new entrant with no switching cost. Better value can only come from
sacrificing profits which might deter new entrants as a low profit margin does not promises long term
growth.
Force 2 Bargaining Power of Buyers (customers):
Companies in the retail industry operate in a high price elasticity environment as there is not much
product differentiation to leverage. Buyers face almost no switching cost if they chose a substitute
offering better value. On the contrary, large and diverse population making small purchases works in
favor of the industry. No one individual or a small group has the power to significantly impact the
industry, but overall buyers enjoy have a high bargaining power in the industry.

All The Years Of Her Life Analysis
Mother s are mysteries that we never seem to solve. Have you ever asked yourself, do I really know
my mother? Morley Callaghan in All the Years of Her Life introduced us to a mother who
demonstrates a kindness for her son, Alfred, and a strength untethered by Mr.Carr s intimidation. She
proves her unbendable patience and unwavering heart over the long years of her life. Mrs. Higgins is a
kind, strong, and patient mother.
Marley Callaghan shows Mrs. Higgins demonstrating an unfaltering kindness towards Mr. Carr who is
hard faced and stern. Alfred believes she will be harsh or will act poorly but instead, she misled him

She gently adds, Yes, I suppose so. It s not for me to say because he is my son[,] [y]et I sometimes
think a little good advice is the best thing for a boy. Instead of acting out of fear or panic, Mrs.

Analysis of The Romantic Elements In Sleepy Hollow
In the novel Sleepy Hollow, by Peter Lerangis, several elements of the Romantic period of literature
are evident. Themes carry throughout the novel that suggest a strong Romantic influence upon the
text. The story is rich in colorful figurative language and contains a spell binding plot that leaves the
reader feeling very satisfied. In the midst of such an enchanting story are the Romantic themes, such
as a deep appreciation of nature in conjunction with the condemnation of city life, exaltation of
emotion over reason along with the defiance of conventional rules and traditions, and interest in local
folk/ethnic culture, while providing the reader with plenty of attention to the supernatural. Each of

It is ironic that for the duration of the beginning of the novel, Crane refuses to allow anyone to speak
of such theoretically impossible tales as the tale of the Headless Horseman. However, after seeing the
beast for himself, he is pleading with the people of the town that they must believe [him], and that he
can assure all of them of the visual contact he made with a horseman. A dead one. Headless! (Lerangis
66). With his newfound faith in the credibility of the legends around the hollow, Ichabod decides that
all of the logic and reason he had previously relied on are of no use to him. It is ironic that one night s
events have changed his views on reasoning so quickly. Nearing the novel s end, Ichabod burns all of
his ledgers and papers that had held his knowledge over the past several years. In doing so, it is
apparent that he has accepted the fact that sense and knowledge had betrayed him in Sleepy Hollow
(Lerangis 125). Ichabod s sense and knowledge are personified in this passage to show the reader that
two ideals which he had held so close to heart and high in regard had proved to be inadequate. This
further exaggerates the Romantic ideals of the power of emotion over all reason and logic. Along with
this newfound reliance on emotion rather than reason is a defiant quality of all formal rules and
traditions. All of the other authoritative figures in New York shun

Unemployment And Its Effects On Unemployment
The term Hysteresis means dependency on past history; Hysteresis in unemployment therefore implies
that unemployment depends on its past. This further implies that demand or supply side shocks to
unemployment have the tendency to permanently affect the unemployment path (Saeid Eisazadeh
2014). There are several explanations for the persistence of unemployment, George S. et al (1988)
highlights two broad explanations for the persistence of unemployment. The first states that long run
unemployment rate is impacted by exogenous shocks with structural characteristics. Such theories
argue that technological changes increases the rate of structural unemployment for example changes in
technology render some skills obsolete and even in the face of new job openings, the skills sets are
insufficient or poor matches to these new openings (Gabriel P, 2015). In this sense, cyclical
unemployment readily translates to structural unemployment. This phenomenon could equally be
referred to as unemployment scarring, as the existence of long term unemployment leaves persistent
scars on the employment prospects of the unemployed (George S. et al, 1988). Another perspective
given to the persistence of unemployment is that labour market is slow in adjusting to a new
equilibrium such that even temporary shocks persist. Both explanations point towards hysteresis More
recent studies of high unemployment persistence rely more on the first explanation, and have also
attempted to identify the

Dickens Great Expectations
The novel Great Expectations uses the central character, Pip, to depict the ups and downs of a young
child on a quest to become not only a man, but a gentleman. Dickens uses a variety of different
techniques to create mood, setting, and atmosphere.
Charles Dickens grew up in the nineteenth century, when times were hard and punishments were
extremely harsh. So harsh you could be imprisoned or even hanged for stealing a loaf of bread.
Dickens s father was in debt and as a result he was imprisoned and Charles went to a workhouse. The

Based on what the driver said we immediately think that Jaggers is not only powerful, but also a

In chapter one dickens uses imagery such as the gibbet to show punishment: No matter how small, pip
still committed a crime and could still be punished severely, even hanged. Another image, used to
portray punishment is the hulks. They were huge prison ships out on the marshes and were there to
represent the punishment pip could face. Dickens uses chains to show that pip and magwitch are
connected, by the crime they committed together.
But on the other hand, in chapter twenty the images used to represent punishment are: Jagger s office
(because he represents the law), Newgate prison and the court rooms.
In chapter one, Dickens uses the river to illustrate the journey pip is about to embark upon. He uses
the fog to represent pips uncertainty in life however the fog is also used to create mood atmosphere.
In chapter twenty Dickens describes Jaggers chair like a coffin
Rows of brass nails in it, like a coffin

The Internet And Global Positioning System
Humans throughout the ages have used maps to help them travel. As we enter the modern age, maps
on the internet and global positioning system(GPS) have become a more efficient way to travel
because it allows users to get a step by step instruction on how to get to their destination. In 2004,
Google debuted Google Maps, a service that that disrupt the GPS device industry and has paved the
way for future navigation and GPS related apps. The success of Google Maps was primarily based on
the advances of technology, economic events, its versatility, and how it is practically free to use.
Google started out as a search engine company that made money from selling ads. Cellular devices
have been popular since the 1900s but as technology advances smartphones took the market in 2008.
Google took that golden opportunity and make a mobile operating system. At the same time Apple
was in the same race and competing to seize the smartphone market. Bragging about design and retail
marketing, Apple established their name in the mobile market. Google was locked in battle with one
of the world s largest companies. However, although Apple had an advantage over design and retail
marketing, Google had a completive advantage in information. In 2008 Google released Google Maps
for mobile and it featured a GPS navigation. This was a critical step for Google because it was
estimated that map apps were used the most right after communication. Currently Google maps is said

The leader needs to instill urgency into the workers and volunteers of the ARC. Taking an organization
that s on its knees requires great cooperation, initiative, and willingness to make sacrifices from many
people (Kotter, 2011). Based on the case study, the ARC lacks all these characteristics for change to
occur. It needs to look how to improve its response times, how to become more efficient in collecting
denotations and how to prioritize and quickly distribute the donations it receives in a fair and efficient
manner. It needs to hold its leaders to a higher standard that will instill a culture of high moral

In the light of this, the tsar brought out a law stating that no law could be passed without his
permission. The Okhrana, the Tsar s secret police, were another obstacle for the Bolsheviks, as due to
the large scale membership of the Mensheviks, Lenin became wary of a large party due to suspicion
from the Okhrana, as the Tsar was clamping down on any form of revolutionary party. It was this that
made Lenin think that the best way to move forward was with a small, tight knit party of professional
revolutionaries. However this still did not help as Lenin and his party were forced into exile during the
early 1900 s due to scares from the Okhrana and the autocracy. The newest problem the Bolsheviks
would have to overcome was how would they be able to dictate affairs in Russia while in exile? The
Soviets argue the answer by stating that Lenin was relaying messages back to Russia in hope of
stirring up revolution. Another reason for the lack of achievement was Stolypin s land reforms which
they allowed the peasants to opt out of the Mir, thus, in a way, diminishing the need for an uprising.
The land bank was then established so they could buy their own land, and this encouraged
resettlement and Stolypin hoped to create a class of Kulaks. This

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Barack Obama s Judgment By...
Barack Obama s Judgement by Association
An attack on a country s ideals is an attack on everyone s in it. Because personal values are deep
rooted, political rhetoric often inspires emotion through personal bias to cloud perception. Habitually
discovered, displays of carefully edited facts create negative value correlations to candidates. When
used to portray a presidential candidate in the 2008 election year this clever tactic is effective in
momentarily turning off almost an entire nation to the offending party. An overly sentimental appeal in
the political advertisement Judgement manipulates pathos to discredit Barack Obama s ethos by
associating him with his pastor s alarming proclamations.
Obama s ethos fall under attack when a partiality to Reverend Jeremiah Wright s anti American
appeals is suggested. The advertisement opens with a close up of Obama s face with an angry

to invoke a similar and opposite aggression on behalf of patriotism and traditional values, with the
target being the candidate s suitability for the presidency. The dramatic exaggeration and extension of
Wright s declarations to Obama s ideals further demonstrates a scare tactic that uses fear of prejudice

Essay The Gospel of Mark
INTRODUCTION
At the risk of being judgmental this book is very complicated. The points are many and varied. In his
lead up to his commentary proper Myers makes many points as he expounds the many topics that
would influence that commentary. The World of Jesus and the World of Mark, the filters and models
of that social world, the cross cultural history and the socio economic tensions of both worlds are all
considered. The Jewish War is also a point to consider in that it occurs around the time of writing and
most of the historicity comes from the works of Josephus. The major point to consider however is
Myers self confessed socio historical hermeneutic.

The hypotheses on how this Gospel originated are many and varied. The continuity of the actual
message of the story of the life of Jesus seems, it would be generally agreed, to hinge on the Gospel of
Mark being a source for the other Synoptic gospels at least. Much argument has also gone on about
the place and time of writing of Mark and how this influences the traditioning or the handing on of the
story. How the original written version came to be from the oral process is also a cause for the concern
as regards continuity of the story. Was it faithfully translated?
Nineham states that Jesus very character was determined by the particular circumstances in which the
tradition was handed down. Those who kept it shaped the tradition itself. They had their own motives
and beliefs and these have influenced the tradition that has brought out the character of Jesus as we
know today (Nineham 1986: 21).
This traditioning was a process that began by orally recounting the story at private or public
gatherings. The public gatherings being more favoured because preachers or teachers, that is those
entrusted with the traditioning process, would have told the story at worship or catechumen gatherings
(Nineham 1986: 22).
As is sometimes the practice with preaching today so it may have been in the first century. Anyone
telling the story would be driven by a particular need of the time, for example if a message on good
neighbours was needed then the

Factors That Affect A Fluctuation On Interest Rates From...
Methods To enhance the data, I gathered for my research and bring it all together, I conducted three
semi structured interviews to help me uncover a better understanding of what the impact on a
fluctuation in interest rates from the Federal Reserve has on the economy and market in the U.S and
other countries. During this time, I had three participants who donated their time to tell me a little
more about themselves and what they knew about my topic. Participant 1, was a sixty one year old

one of my interviewees. We had the date and time set for a face to face interview and it lasted
approximately eleven minutes. Participant 3 is very educated and has experience with the stock market
and because of his knowledge I chose him to be my third interviewee. Participant three was my first
phone interview and it lasted around eight minutes. After completing these three interviews I started
my transcribing and coding process. This process definitely took some time to get used to, actually it s
still very complicated. I found myself keep rewinding back to get all of the exact detail, and
everything that was said every few seconds. My procedure for this was to listen through the whole
interview one time to see the tempo of how the interviewee was talking. I wanted to get used to the
sound of his voice and the dialect he talked with. The second time I listened I would type as much as I
could for one question I asked, and then go back to see what I missed, and keep doing this. As tough
as it was I got through it and it was a great experience. Results The results from the study of the

The Gas Ladies And Gentlemen
Both S. A Novel About the Balkans by Slavenka Drakulic and This Way for the Gas, Ladies and
Gentlemen by Tadeusz Borowski are novels that tell the tale of those who were victims of some of the
worst crimes ever committed in human history. The main characters of each novel are subjected to
terrible conditions but nevertheless both defeat the odds and survive. Survivors of such events often
struggle to deal with their past. The authors of each novel deal with this struggle in different ways
through the characters.
In her novel, Slavenka writes in a dynamic way about the women s rape camps established Bosnia
during the Bosnian War in the early 1990 s. The main character of the book is a woman named S. who

face similarly deplorable conditions but they both still survive. This is only because they take a
number of measures to ensure that they survived. Borowski saved food for himself even when he had
enough that he could have spared. He did not give food to those who he knew were going to die
because he knew it would just be a waste of food. Even though it may have not been the most kind
way of doing things the choices he made were ones that helped him to survive his time in the camp.
The only way that he survived was because others died. It is nearly impossible for one to survive such
conditions and to help others. The only way he survived the camp was through an every man for
himself mentality. After being liberated from the camp Borowski struggled with this survivor s guilt.
Even though the novel is not an exact autobiography it is based on his life inside the camps. Just six
years after being released from the camp Borowski committed suicide. Borowski opened a gas valve
on July 1, 1951 (pg. 11) One can conclude from this suicide that the events from the camp and his own
survivor s guilt most likely contributed to his tragic death. In a similar way S. used makeup to
preserve herself. S. began wearing makeup in the camp as a way to gain power. When she was
wearing makeup she almost had a power over the men that the other women did not have. The other
women could not understand why she was wearing makeup but this was only because they did not that

Karl Von Muller Weakness
Every speech given is a lesson to be learned. Not just by those listening but to the person giving it as
well. The informative speech I gave was no exception. I learned a great deal from this speech about
my strengths and weaknesses as a speaker. In this paper, I will delve into the details by dividing the
speech into the usual categories of content, delivery, and organization. In each of these categories I
will discuss the strengths and weaknesses I noticed in my informative speech in each of these areas.
The first thing I noticed about my content was how the audience received it. The topic was Karl von
Muller and his naval campaign during world war one. When surveyed, the class seemed to be of the
consensus that they had no idea who he was. With this feedback, I moved forward on the speech

From my perspective in front of the class I felt the students were not interested in hearing about the
career of a long dead German sailor regardless of how successful he was. It should be noted this is
from my perspective which was being effected by communication apprehension at the time. This led
to me skipping several points I wanted to include in the speech. Particularly in the middle section of
the speech when I was talking about Muller s personal character and the way he conducted himself
while captain of the SMS Emden. The content is only a third of what makes a speech. Delivery is
perhaps the most important part of a speech. No matter how engaging, relevant, and entertaining a
topic is, if the speaker fails in every way to properly give the speech no one is going to listen to the
speaker. In chapter five of the communication age connecting engaging this is described as Source
distractions occur when the person...we are listening to exhibits a behavior that inhibits our ability to

United States Postal Service In Flying Like An Eagle
For over two centuries, people relied on the United States Postal Service (USPS) as a way to receive

are different kinds of ways where one can receive a package or a letter, from an email or other

Affirmitive Action Essay
Affirmative Action is the name given to programs that try to correct past and ongoing discriminations
against women, racial minorities, and others in the work force and in education. The principal goal of
Affirmative Action is to create more diversity and equal opportunities in jobs or schools that used to
be all or mostly male, white, or both. Affirmative Action programs have been in place only a little over
thirty years. Affirmative action works.
There are thousands of examples of situations where people of color, and white women who were

Another growing concern is white male candidates are being discriminated against, or losing out
because of affirmative action programs.
If we were to look at the breakdown of various white collar professions or if we look at the overall
average income levels of white men we should immediately notice that people of color are still
significantly under represented and underpaid in every category. People of color don t make up the
proportions of these jobs even remotely equal to their percentage of the population. They don t earn
wages comparable to white men. White men are tremendously over represented in almost any
category of work that is highly rewarded except for professional athletics. According to a 1995
government report, white males make up only 29 percent of the workforce, but hold 95 percent of
senior management positions (Sklar 115). Until there is both equal opportunity and fair distribution of
education, training and advancement to all Americans, affirmative action for people of color is
necessary to counter the hundreds of years of affirmative action that have been directed at white
males.
Affirmative action is not a cure all. It will not eliminate racial discrimination, nor will it eliminate
competition for scarce resources. Affirmative action programs can only

What is culture? Are we that different? The English Anthropologist Edward B. Taylor explained it in

Valuing and understanding cultural diversity is very important in terms of being able to understand the

Many habits are very similar to practices in the United States. Germany is a small and densely
populated country. Unlike the United States, which is a huge and densely populated country.
The greatest shock to Americans is probably that there are no speed limits on the German Autobahn ,
which is the Highway. Speed limits in cities are strictly enforced, but on most of the Autobahn there is
no limit.
In Germany people usually greet others when walking into a waiting room or train compartment. A
simple Guten Tag or, in my home state Bavaria Gruess Gott , is the standard. Germans are also
diligent hand shakers. Not only do they shake hands when meeting someone for the first time, but at

All people have a particular idea of themselves. The idea of who they are and who they are not. The

Therefore, we must submit to the leaders he has put in position. We must follow them unless what

3 Economic Principles You Can Apply to Your Life

The Law of Diminishing Returns
1933599909_d5dde5519e_mThe law of diminishing returns states that if one factor of production is
increased while the others remain constant, the overall returns will relatively decrease after a certain
point. For example, if more and more laborers are added to harvest a wheat field, at some point each
additional laborer will add relatively less output than his predecessor did, simply because he has less

Impact of Media on the People of Pakistan
In the late 20th Century, mass media could be classified into eight mass media industries: books,
newspapers, magazines, recordings, radio, movies, television and the internet. With the explosion of
digital communication technology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the question of what forms
of media should be classified as mass media has become more prominent. For example, it is
controversial whether to include cell phones, video games and computer games (such as MMORPGs)
in the definition. In the 2000s, a classification called the seven mass media became popular. In order
of introduction, they are:
1. Print (books, pamphlets, newspapers, magazines, etc.) from the late 15th century

This transmittion of mass advertising to millions of people is a form of mass communication.
Video games may also be evolving into a mass medium. Video games convey the same messages and
ideologies to all their users users. Users sometimes share the experience with each other by playing
online. Excluding the internet however, it is questionable whether players of video games are sharing
a common experience when they play the game separately. It is possible to discuss in great detail the
events of a video game with a friend you have never played with because the experience was identical
to you both. The question is if this is then a form of mass communication.
MMORPGS such as Runescape provide a common gaming experience to millions of users throughout
the globe. It is arguable that the users are receiving the same message, i.e., the game is mass
communicating the same messages to the various players.
A life without the presence of mass media would seem improbable for many! Let s read about the pros

thrown at them throughout the rest of the story. Troubles such as poverty, criminal records, and greed
weaves all the characters together to show that they are all connected. In Les Misérables, the
characters are also faced with many problems. However, those problems are based off of racism,
betrayal, and fear. Like in le roman, the characters are connected and eventually creates some kind of
relationship. Le Roman and Les Misérables both shows how difficult situations can bring people

Although his crimes would seem minor today, those crimes where major back then and his attempts to
escape had only increased his sentence. When he was released from his prison, he reentered society
and was imminently met with rude, unwelcoming gestures from the citizens of France. In Les
Misérables there had been many examples of characters who had shown a resemblance to Jean
Valjean. In the beginning of the movie a man named Henri had been accused of killing a man that
committed suicide when he had been driving him home. This resulted in him being sent to prison
where he had tried to escape. Later in the movie, Henri s son who is also referred to as Henri is grown
and called to when a man is stuck underneath a piano. Using his strength that he had possessed from

Warsaw Ghetto Research Paper
Ghettos were put in to segregate, restrict, and isolate the Jews from the rest of the population. Unlike
Ghettos set up in medieval times, the Nazi Ghettos had walls around them and were guarded. The
Warsaw Ghetto was the largest ghetto in Europe and it was built in April 1940. The Warsaw Ghetto
was a residential district in Warsaw until it was designated as a Jewish ghetto in World War II by the
Nazis. (Warsaw Ghetto Facts). All the Jewish people that lived in the Warsaw were sent to the ghetto.
This meant that 30 percent of the population were forced into 2.4 percent of the city s area. They set
up these ghettos, so the Nazis knew exactly where to find them to persecute them (Holocaust Ghettos).
The Ghetto was liberated on January 17, 1945 by the Soviet army, and 300 Jews were found hiding
despite the fact that the ghetto was almost completely destroyed. ... Show more content on

Jews were not allowed to leave or have any contact with the outside world (Ghettos: An Overview).
Very soon after the Ghetto opened, barbed wire fences or 10ft walls topped with barbed wire were
built. The Jews living in the Ghetto didn t receive electricity, sanitary water, food, and medicine. It is
estimated that about 100,000 Jews died in the Warsaw Ghetto and about 300,000 were sent to death
camps and murdered. Many of the deaths in Warsaw was because of starvation and disease. By August
1941, more than 5,000 people a month succumbed to starvation and disease (Historical Film Footage).
A big factor of why people were starving was that they were not receiving enough food rations. The
rations for the Jews were barely enough to sustain life, at just 181 calories a day. That barely reaches
the 10 percent of the normal requirements. If one had wanted really to restrict oneself to the official
rations, then the entire population of the ghetto would have had

The Government Should Tax Churches Hypothetically, someone goes to church on Sunday and is asked by their pastor to donate 10% of their annual income to help feed the hungry and agrees to do so. They later find out that only 3% of the church s income actually goes to helping the poor and the rest is being used to expand the church and its resources. They then realize that a portion of the income donated is not going to the cause they want to support. So where are their offerings and donations actually going? Even though non profit churches play a crucial social service for an abundance of people, the government should tax churches because it is not in the best interest for all of the public when we all have to make up lost revenue for these establishments, it would decrease group leaders from taking advantage of tax breaks, and taxing churches could provide increased revenue to help with other important issues. According to Faulkner this is the only thing that makes writing worth the effort put into it, and if an author cannot accomplish this duty there is no need for writing at all. Faulkner simplifies this complex obligation by presenting man as he really is through the thruths of his heart, which means including what really happens to man from agony to compassion and sacrifice and endurance. This further implies that demand or supply side shocks to unemployment have the tendency to permanently affect the unemployment path (Saeid Eisazadeh 2014). There are several explanations for the persistence of unemployment, George S. et al (1988) highlights two broad explanations for the persistence of unemployment. The first states that long run unemployment rate is impacted by exogenous shocks with structural characteristics. Such theories argue that technological changes increases the rate of structural unemployment for example changes in technology render some skills obsolete and even in the face of new job openings, the skills sets are insufficient or poor matches to these new openings (Gabriel P, 2015). In this sense, cyclical unemployment readily translates to structural unemployment. This phenomenon could equally be referred to as unemployment scarring, as the existence of long term unemployment leaves persistent scars on the employment prospects of the unemployed (George S. et al, 1988). Another perspective given to the persistence of unemployment is that labour market is slow in adjusting to a new equilibrium such that even temporary shocks persist. Both explanations point towards hysteresis More recent studies of high unemployment persistence rely more on the first explanation, and have also attempted to identify the ... In his lead up to his commentary proper Myers makes many points as he expounds the many topics that would influence that commentary. The World of Jesus and the World of Mark, the filters and models of that social world, the cross cultural history and the socio economic tensions of both worlds are all considered. The Jewish War is also a point to consider in that it occurs around the time of writing and most of the historicity comes from the works of Josephus. The major point to consider however is Myers self confessed socio historical hermeneutic. Because there are two parts to this essay discussion has been restricted to ... The continuity of the actual message of the story of the life of Jesus seems, it would be generally agreed, to hinge on the Gospel of Mark being a source for the other Synoptic gospels at least. Much argument has also gone on about the place and time of writing of Mark and how this influences the traditioning or the handing on of the story. How the original written version came to be from the oral process is also a cause for the concern as regards continuity of the story. Was it faithfully translated? Nineham states that Jesus very character was determined by the particular circumstances in which the tradition was handed down. Those who kept it shaped the tradition itself. They had their own motives and beliefs and these have influenced the tradition that has brought out the character of Jesus as we know today (Nineham 1986: 21). This traditioning was a process that began by orally recounting the story at private or public gatherings. The public gatherings being more favoured because preachers or teachers, that is those entrusted with the traditioning process, would have told the story at worship or catechumen gatherings (Nineham 1986: 22). As is sometimes the practice with preaching today so it may have been in the first century. In each of these categories I will discuss the strengths and weaknesses I noticed in my informative speech in each of these areas. The first thing I noticed about my content was how the audience received it. The topic was Karl von Muller and his naval campaign during world war one.
