How Does Duchamp Evaluate The Roles Of Artists And...
The text by Marcel Duchamp, The Creative Act, evaluates the roles of artists and spectators. He
mentions that artists are not in full control of how their art is perceived, but by the people who
view it and talk about it. Ultimately, the spectator gives a work of art its meaning, whether or not it
aligns with the artists intentions. First, Duchamp suggests that an artist s intentions cannot
transcend past the artist. This loss of intention is called art coefficient (Duchamp) If we give the
attributes of a medium to the artist, we must then deny him the state of consciousness on the
esthetic plane about what he is doing or why he is doing it. (Duchamp) An artist should not expect
observer to have the same viewpoint. An onlooker views art

Public Policy Essay
Final Paper
Brittany Baity
PPA603: Government Budgeting (MBQ 1118A)
Instructor: Chiji Ohayia
June 06, 2011
Public policy is the study of policy making by governments. A government s public policy is the
set of policies (laws, plans, actions, behaviors) that it chooses. (Lee, Johnson, Joyce, 2008) Since
governments claim authority and responsibility (to varying degrees) over a large group of
individuals, they see fit to establish plans and methods of action that will govern that society. I will
discuss the possible funding options for reducing Georgia s sex offender rate, evaluate how public
policy decisions affect the receipt of revenues, and develop a revenue policy that aligns with
community values.
It is a parent s nightmare: a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Government created a Project Safe Childhood which is a program to protect children from
rapist and sex offenders. The Project Safe Childhood will make a ground for a national zero
tolerance culture. The Project Safe Childhood program is a strong three legged stool: one leg is the
federal contributions led by the United States Attorneys around the country, another is state and
local law enforcement, including the Internet Crimes Against Children task forces funded by the
Department s Office of Justice Programs and the third is non governmental organizations, like the
Financial Coalition Against Child Pornography and the National Center for Missing and Exploited
Children. [NCMEC] (Geffner, 2008)
Under the Project Safe Childhood structure, state, local and federal partners are seeking the
toughest sentences possible. The Government has made half a million dollars available for the
Project Safe Childhood program. This program intends to bring state and local law enforcement
together with federal prosecutors from their regions.
Cooperative law enforcement work on the registry has already led to some great stories of
success. The first case brought under the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act involved a
fugitive who was arrested by the Social Security Administration for allegedly using a false name
and another man s Social Security number as he tried to set up a new identity for himself. It turns
out that this individual was

Martin Luther And The Birth Of Protestantism
Throughout the ages, especially in the middle Ages, the Catholic Church had always been a very
powerful institution in the world. Its wealth, its political power, its splendid and stunning
decorations have always encouraged people to be part of this community of believers. The unique
spiritual concern of Catholics around that time was to know how to have access to the kingdom of
heaven. But however, did church leaders use this opportunity to manipulate the faithful members of
the church in providing for their own needs? Were false doctrines been taught to blind the faithful?
What has happened to God s grace? James Atkinson, the author of Martin Lutherand the birth of
Protestantism gives us a clear understanding of who Martin Luther was, his mission and his
purposes. No other man in history has ever changed the history of the church like Martin Luther
did. And he is considered as the man who shook the church in the 16th century.
The reason why I chose this book is because the reformation is one of my favorite subject. I
studied it in high school, I preached about it and every single time, I always learn something new
that makes be proud and happy to be the Seventh day Adventist Christian I am today. Martin Luther
is my favorite reformer because he dared to stand against the errors and false teachings of the
Catholic Church even when he was threatened to die. Also, I chose this book because I love
learning about the catholic church and I really enjoy this topic.

La Reina Del Sur Analysis
In order to fully comprehend the roles of women portrayed within this society, a brief examination
of traditional roles associated with males involved in the narcocultura of Latin America and the
telenovela must transpire. This is because the latter often dictates tremendous proportions of the
lives of the adjoining women. An image of a warrior or Robin Hood like figure is often used to
represent the males in these societies, with a longing to triumph, succeed, and to exude his male
energy in many different ways. Although these attributes appear to be positives they inevitably
come at the sacrifice of their femalecounterparts. This representation is no different to that seen in
La Reina del Sur . Men undeniably control every aspect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The traditional effeminate characteristics portrayed within the psyche of many female characters
introduced in La Reina del Sur not excluding Teresa first presented in Sinaloa, revolve around their
physique and nature, with the outcomes of the female characters often being defined relative to the
impact of the male hero . This issue more often than not leads to female characters being silent,
mistreated, oppressed and/or rescued, perfectly captured through a genuine statement made by the
protagonist s first love El GГјero DГЎvila as he unknowingly encapsulates the insignificance of
women caught in the narco world Porque, si a mГ me va muy bien, tГ tambГen pero, si me va mal,
es requete gacho . Even though El GГјero spoke about Teresa from nowhere but a place of love,
much of what he had to say completely disregarded her life and opinion. While the telenovela
travels through Mexican, Spanish, Moroccan, Russian and Colombian cultures the prejudices faced
by women are unchanging. The lives of women within the narco world can in no way dictate the
lives of the men. Considering this, the emergence of Teresa as the telenovela develops and her
complete ignorance of the traditional culture sets up the story to not only be considered an
entertaining thriller but a means of tackling cultural flaws that have been seen for

What Is Princess X Sparknotes
Throughout I am Princess X there are four major sections that you go through: The introduction of
the characters and the discovery of the webcomic, the discovery of the first key and the truth
about the Needle Man s daughter, the discovery of the second key and the identity of who the
Needle Man is in the real world, and the finding of the third and fourth key. The fourth key being
the final piece to the puzzle: Libby Deaton. The first section, the introduction of the setting and
characters, lasts for about four chapters. In these chapters you meet May Harper, the protagonist
of the story. We learn how May and Libby, May s best friend, created a comic in the fifth grade
featuring a warrior princess named Princess X. Libby drew the pictures and May wrote the
stories, and Princess X would fight the monsters and ghosts they created together. A few years
later Libby was driving over a bridge one rainy night, when the car went over the bridge. The
night that Libby and her mom died, Princess X died right along with her. Three years later a
lonely May discovers an online webcomic featuring none other than Princess X! May is
convinced that Libby survived because who else could have written the comic? As May reads the
comic she discovers that the comic tells the story of Libby s death, only different. In the comic
there was a villain, the Needle Man, who killed Libby s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

is a patient ID number belonging to the villain of the story, the Needle Man. Once he finds out

Positive Aspects Of Playing Basketball
Young boys often dream about playing in the NBA or the NFL when they grow up. If parents
make sure their boys and girls are in sports when they are very little than they have a better
chance of getting to the pros. When you are little you usually play recreation ball at your local rec
centers. You also usually have a dad or an older brother that coaches the kids. Typically when you
are in 2nd grade you can start playing rec basketball. If you are good enough when you are in 2nd
grade to 6th grade you can be asked to playon a travel basketball team. This is where you parents
pay a lot of money to have you travel around and play with the best of the best. This is a really
good time, because you sometimes play on college courts which just make you dream of one
day playing college basketball and then maybe going into the NBA. I played on travel basketball,
but then the next year I did not make the team. I was a good basketball player, but I was not
aggressive enough. I continued to play rec ball even though I was very upset that I did not make
the team again.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basketball is a lot of fun. It is also very challenging, because you know you have to be one of the
best or you will not make the team. It caused a lot of us stress. At this time, you will be put in the
positions that your coaches feel you are best at, not the position that you want to play. Basketball
is very competitive and not everyone makes their school teams even if they were the best on their
rec teams or travel teams. This is when many kids realize that playing basketball for school is not
going to happen so they just continue with rec ball which actually is a lot of fun, because you are
just really hanging out with your friends having a good

Racial Integrity Act Of 1924 And Mildred Loving
Just weeks after the happiest day of their lives, Richard and Mildred Loving, a newly wed
couple, returned home in hopes of starting a new life, that they now had the joy of sharing with
each other. In the middle of one night, they suddenly heard fists pounding at the door followed by
loud, deep shouts that made their stomachs drop. They knew trouble had come. Policemen busting
violently through the front door, the couple suddenly found themselves in handcuffs and thrown
behind the bars of a prison cell. Released soon after, they are told to pack their things and leave
the state for the next 25 years, forced to start their newly joined lives away from the place they

The Duke challenges the idea that Othello cannot be a morally righteous person because of his race.
Also, in Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn, by the end of the book, Miss Watson develops more
sympathy and consideration towards Jim who she once thought of as just a slave. In the final
chapter, while talking about Miss Watson, Huck says, Old Miss Watson died two months ago,
and she was ashamed she was ever going to sell him down the river, and said so; and she set him
free in her will (Twain 319). Miss Watson challenges the status quo by setting Jim free, when
previously she had treated him as property. Miss Watson shows care and sympathy for a black
slave, which is a foreign concept in the South during this time period. Therefore she is going
against the social norms. Overall, in both Othello and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the actions
and words of minor characters are used to challenge the status quo of racial norms.
Setting in Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn and The Meaning of Serena Williams, is used to
convey the message of challenging the social norm of race. In Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn,
the setting of the river represents a kind and calm place for Jim and Huck to be friends despite
their difference in races. Huck explains the atmosphere of the raft on the river with the King, Duke,

Silence In The Birthday Party
Technically, silence can be defined as the absolute absense of sound. In human interaction,
however, the boundaries of this definition may fade. In that case, it is not the total absense of
sound but the absense of speech that determines the silence within a conversation. According to
Harold Pinter, this conversational silence can be divided into two categories: one when no word
is spoken. The other when perhaps a torrent of language is being employed . In other words, one
kind of silence occurs when two people are quiet and not talking to one another. The other, the
torrent of language , concerns what can be read between the lines, or the real truth behind what is
being said. This latter may not be a genuine silence, but in Pinter s plays,... Show more content on

Written in 1957, a fearful time of oppression and censorship, The Birthday Party explores this
theme through Stanley s futile efforts to stand up for himself against the ones he feared most.
Even though his fate remains unknown, as well as the actual reason for Goldberg and McCann s
presence, fact is that his mental breakdown seems to represent the state of mind of the people of
America at the time. In alignment to the impending doom Stanley felt throughout the play,
resulting in him basically losing his voice, the people could not fight the terrors of the Cold War
and the other wars going on at the time. They were not allowed to resist their government, as that
could very well be their own end as well as their country s. As Charles Grimes states in his Harold
Pinter s Politics: A Silence Beyond Echo , virtually all of Pinter s political works end in some
variant of this painful, double edged silence (49). By this, he asserts that there are two sides to
Stanley s silence: [it] is both absolute and complex; it also represents the necessity of a futile
resistance to all analogous brutalities (49). Therefore, silence and resistance go hand in hand, as
silence is nothing but the unspoken

procedure outlines safe working practices that will enable staff to conduct safety checks to help
reduce risks and hazards and to make sure everything is safe for the public to use.
Quality Checks
To manage and maintain safe working practices, management should carry out quality checks
(quality assurance) and audits against these standard operating procedures. Checks or audits may be
carried out: Internally: management check lists and company audits Externally: some facilities
subscribe to quality standards e.g. Quest,
Investors In People (IIP), that are monitored by people from the awarding body. Quality standards
are sought after by sports organisations that can use the achievement of high standards to promote
the safety of their facility
Safety checks
Safety checks should be carried out to eliminate the risk of putting the safety of people attending a
sporting event at risk.
A football stadium could carry out safety checks in a number of areas, prior to a match, to ensure
its health and safety procedures are in place. A pro forma checklist should be provided and should
link directly to standard operating procedures/safe systems of work. Safety checks carried out
include ensuring that: * Fire escapes are clear * First aid boxes are full * Steward ratios to
spectators are correct * Steward duties and rosters fully

What Are The Similarities Between Achilles And Beowulf
Humans are imperfect, created half to rise, and half to fall ...The glory, jest, and riddle of the
world! (15 18). Both Homer s Iliad, which illustrates the story of the renowned warrior Achilles,
and the Saxon Beowulf, which highlights the adventures of the heroic monster killer Beowulf,
convey the idea that humans are in the middle state (line 3), as Alexander Pope once said. Both
works offer insights that still apply to today s society, where human capability and ambition
combined with weakness and emotion can lead to disaster.
The main characters of both stories, Achilles and Beowulf, are larger than life and never satisfied
with mundanity, seeking to boast their superhuman prowess and cement their glory, but in the end
are proven to be mortal. Achilles, a demi god, is impervious to weapons everywhere but his heel,

Even in modern times, there are still some who seek for their own selfish glory and ambitions
and cause massive repercussions to others. The attitudes of the leaders of some politically
extreme nations such as IS, North Korea, and Israel, reflect those of Achilles and Beowulf. The
leader of IS in particular the caliph, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi pursues extreme Islamic ideology,
enacting a genocide and a war in order to win glory in the annals of Islamic history.
Although now we live in technologically advanced world, human nature has remained the same.
Our basic motivations remain the same. Just as in Beowulf and the Iliad, in our modern times
corruption, avarice, and envy are abound, as much as courage, bravery, and honor. Thus remains the
vital question whether humans should choose to be like Achilles and Beowulf; brave, bold, and
ambitious, yet hubristic and

The Purpose Of The Athenian Army
Part 3
1) The Athenian Army
The purpose of the Athenian army was to was to secure Athenian democratic society. The army
fought battles against other Greek states and foreign states most often against oligarchies and
aristocracies. The army was managed by a polemarch (senior military title), along with ten generals
from the ten tribes of Athens.
The largest component of the army was the infantry composed of hoplites (citizens fighting in a full
set of armour). They went into battle protected by a helmet, breastplate, and greaves (shin guards),
carrying a large round shield and long spear. The state would sometimes issue such equipment to
citizens who could not afford a set of their own.
The Athenian army was primarily male citizens, who were made to enlist at the beginning of the
year following their 18th birthdays. For two years, new cadets (known as ephebes) trained full
time. After training, they rejoined public life, though they were committed to the army for 40 years.
At any time, they could be called to duty to defend Athens. The people elect two athletic trainers and
instructors for them, to teach them their drill as heavy armed soldiers and to use the bow, javelin,
and sling.
Richer Athenians enrolled in the cavalry, as always, a smaller elite military force made up of those
wealthy enough to own and maintain a good mount. The state would call upon an inspection and
registration of all of the horses on an annual basis, so that the owner could draw a maintenance

Treatment Of Drug Use And Drug Abuse Essay
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (2012), the intention of drug addiction treatment
is to help addicted individuals stop compulsive drug use and drug seeking behavior (p. 8).
Substance use is a timeless practice of cultures around the world and can be found in religious
ceremonies, celebratory engagements, and family gatherings. Substance abuse and addictionhas also
been lurking in the shadows of history and has morphed into what some are calling an epidemic
today. Treatment for addiction is a necessary service all over the world, but the methods and
modalities of its practice have changed throughout history often being molded by federal policy. In
the following pages I will discuss some of these changes to treatment in the 20th century in the
United States.
According to Henninger and Sung (2014), in the late 1940s the Minnesota Model was introduced as
a new method to treat alcoholism. The Minnesota Model included mutual respect for participants
instead of shame and degradation. One of the first facilities to utilize the Minnesota Model was
Willmar State Hospital in Minnesota. The Willmar State Hospital staff eventually developed the
model which was based on insisting that treatment include a multidisciplinary and holistic approach.
The staff at Willmar also believed that professionalization of addiction treatment was necessary to
appropriately treat patients. This progression of change to the Minnesota Model would mean that

I think that Mikhail Gorbachev should be Person of the Decade. Mikhail Gorbachev was born on

Under the badge of democratization, restructuring has now encompassed politics, the economy,

as well as agreeing on the development of a Strategic Defense Initiative. Reagan wanted this,
while on the other side, Mikhail did not. When it came down to it Gorbachev ended up agreeing
with Reagan in the year of 1987, making it the first ever mutual agreement on nuclear weapons
reduction. With everything he was doing Mikhail ended up becoming the first president of the
Soviet Union on March 15, 1990 with election coming from the Congress of People s Duties. His
leadership skills and his help he contributed to the overall betterment of the world were so good
that he ended up winning a Nobel Peace Prize. In the year of 1991 Mikhail was captured in a

Regulations For The Army Of The United States
Regulations for the order and discipline of the troops of the United States The Blue Book Barron
Friedrich Wilhelm Steuben wrote the regulations for the order and discipline of the troops of the
United States in the winter of 1778. The Continental Army spent that winter at Valley Forge under
the command of General George Washington. The army was a group of raw untrained farmers and
to this point in the war had perfected only one militarymaneuver, the retreat. The true history of the
Barron s military experience is in question. For the beleaguered Continental Armythe Barron and
what became to be known as the U.S. Army s blue book of drill and ceremony could not have
come at a more crucial time for General Washington and his army. The overall idea of the Barron
s regulations for the army was to bring standardization of how the army performed every aspect
of their daily life. The idea of standardization to any army is paramount to its success. The
Continental Army at this point had very little if any among its ranks. It is very important for an
army to march the same, shot the same, dress the same and to become a group that acts as one.
Doing all these exercises together not only creates a cohesive unit but also a feeling of Esprit De
Corps a feeling of connection from one soldier to another it binds them to one another. An army

Feed, A Futuristic Novel
Feed, a futuristic novel by M.T. Anderson, left me feeling disturbed about the faults in perfection.
In a society completely ruled by technology, most of the country has a chip implanted in their
brain since birth that acts as a phone, computer, television, and more, which known as the feed.
The feed allows people to chat using just their connected brains, watch television programs, play
games, order goods, and research any topic. From the start, I recognized that this was a scary
concept, because it meant that website owners and product producers had access to one s
thoughts, preferences, and personality. What made this book so eerie was that I could experience
what it would be like to have a constant voice in my head, directing me to... Show more content on

Because of the feed, with everyone having access to whatever they please already in their brain,
everyone is smart, and no one has to work for it. There is mass danger in this concept. If
everyone is smart, no one is smart, because no one knows more than anyone else, and no one
stands out. It s like if you were to highlight everything in an article. If you did that, nothing would
be important anymore. This is what the feed does. It is run by companies who search everyone s
brains, and create products that will appeal to everyone. In order to do that, the companies need to
make a very simple product everyone can enjoy, slowly deteriorating difference, and slowly
making everyone simpler people. In light of what the novel stresses: that making things too easy for
humans will ruin the meaning for their existence, the author creates a character essential to get this
point across. Violet, Titus girlfriend, was different from Titus and his friends. She grew up with less
money than them, and with parents against the feed from the start. However, she eventually got the
feed, only to run into problems when a hacker damages it permanently. Violet, unlike Titus,
understands that companies running the feed were slowly abusing their power to create products
they know will have mass appeal. Violet resists this, trying to create a personality profile that
cannot fit in with the norms of the feed. Later, when Violet s feed, which has latched on

because it is a gigantic, world renowned product. Coca Cola also has another major competitor,
Pepsi. I thought it would be very interesting to see how Coca Cola tries to complete with Pepsi. Our

important attributes that Coca Cola focuses on outside of the product itself would be availability,
affordability, and attitude. Customers today want something easy to access, they want to work

Stigmatization Of Mental Illnesses Essay
A stigma is a distinguishing mark, establishing a border between a stigmatized person and others
attributing negative characteristics to this person. (Baumann, 2007) There are many different
factors that take part in the stigmatization of mental illnesses, however the greatest contributor is
the social distance that is created within society between individuals with a mental illness and
those without. There are two mind sets that can increase a person s willingness to socially distance

(Feldman and Crandall, 2007) Society has a want to protect themselves from anything they see
as a dangerous. The common idea that people that have a mental illness are dangerous is
creating a division in the world. Although the ideas may be false it is very difficult to change a
popular opinion. Since the 1950 s American s have increased the belief that mental illnesses
cause the mentally ill to become violent. (Feldman and Crandall, 2007) To change these popular
beliefs and reduce the stigmatization around mental illness it is necessary to bring more
awareness to all mental illnesses. The social distancing disconnects people and does not allow
for society to see how a mental illness affects an individual. The false popular opinions are all that
people really know about mental illnesses. People suffering from mental illnesses are isolated and
viewed as strangers in society. They are viewed as dangerous or aggressive, which increases the
likelihood of being discriminated against. These two factors will lead to social distancing, which is
the greatest contributor of the stigmatization of mental illness. Without creating awareness of
mental illnesses, the stigmatization is likely to remain the same and there will always be a
separation between those with a mental illness and those

Lutheran Church Research Paper
The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Historical Facts Where and How Does This Faith
Perspective Originate? The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod is a mission oriented, Bible based,
confessional Christian denomination headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., founded on the teachings of
Martin Luther. Its beginnings can be traced to 750 Saxon immigrants who came to the State of
Missouri in the United States of America in 1839. These German immigrants established a new
church body in America, seeking the freedom to practice and follow confessional Lutheranism.
Initial members, that included 12 pastors representing 14 congregations from Illinois, Indiana,
Missouri, Michigan, New York and Ohio, signed the church body s constitution on April 26, 1847,

This phenomenal change in the international environment in which business is conducted has
resulted in increased levels of foreign direct investment by companies from developed countries in
lesser developed economies such as the Third World as economic benefits were sought through the
globalization of production as well as markets. (Hill 2011, p.5)
With the benefits being widely seen to outweigh the disadvantages smaller companies are looking
for the arrangements internationally that would best serve their interests of growth and expansion
with companies from lesser developed countries now also looking to capitalize as well by creating
synergies at the basic level by expanding their market horizons overseas, penetrating first and
expanding as demand and relationships develop. This shift in the world economy towards greater
integration and interdependence is one way of describing Globalization (Hill 2011, p.7).

Analysis Of To Build A Fire
To build a fire written by Jack London is more of a primitive survival story where the protagonist
tries not to freeze to death. It represents the battle of a man versus the nature. When I was reading
the story I could feel my body possessed by the cold temperature just because of the way the author
described it. The man was travelling with a dog, which was more conscious than him about the
situation that they were living and how arduous it was going to be travelling in such conditions.
The animal was depressed by the tremendous cold. It knew that it was no time for travelling.
(London) Phrase that suggests that animal was most self conscious than the man, even smarter.
This story shows how potent nature is, and that it does not matter

Write An Essay On ALS Research Papers
Amyotrophic lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease. It is a disease which
involves the degeneration of motor neurons. Not only does it degrade the motor neurons, It also
degenerates the corticospinal neurons of the motor cortex. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrigs
disease. This name came about after a New York Yankees baseball player developed this
disorder and died from it in 1936. ALS is a heterogenous disorder. Multiple genetic factors
contribute to the onset of ALS. More than 20 genes are known to have a role to play in ALS
pathogenesis. In most cases of ALS, the disease is not hereditary. The cause of ALS is still
unknown. A small amount of cases are made up of a few hereditary forms of ALS. ALS has two
meanings. It can refer to multiple adult onset conditions which are characterized by the
degeneration of motor neurons. In the UK, Motor neuron disease is the term used to describe

ALS is progressive and can ultimately start to affect respiration. ALS is mainly restricted to the

Critical Analysis Of Watership Down
Watership Down Literary Analysis
Good leaders ensure the world continues to advance. In contrast, bad leaders allow cruelty to
spread and are often over controlling, taking away the freedom of their people. Richard Adams s
Watership Down is a story about rabbits trying to establish a warren, a society. Hazel, the main
character of the book, has been informed that his warren is in danger. He leads a group of rabbits
to try and start a new warren in a better environment, away from peril. While trying to find this
location, Hazel and his rabbits stumble upon another warren, Efrafa. The secretive warren is led by
a fierce rabbit, General Woundwort. Though Hazel and General Woundwort are both leaders, they
lead in two distinct ways. Hazel and General Woundwort are drastically different leaders because
they take power in contrasting ways, have incongruent methods of leadership, and view their role as
leader differently.
Hazel and General Woundwort are contrastive leaders because they acquire power differently.
Hazel assumes power through respect. He earns the respect of the rabbits in his warren, lending
them to establish Hazel as leader. The respect of the warren is earned when Hazel leads the
rabbits across the common, even while they are all exhausted. The rabbits are so impressed,
Blackberry says Oh, Hazel...you re what I call a Chief Rabbit! (57). The Chief Rabbit is the leader
of the warren. This title often belongs to the strongest of the rabbits, but Hazel is not

Photography And The Art Of Photography
Photography. To truly appreciate the art of photography, it must be known that it is not some
simple task where all one does is press down on the button. This is not all that it is. Photography
skills vary from person to person, and can evolve over time. When looking back on the past, one
can see how personal photographyis to a photographer. Even from historical photographers such as
Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, George Hurrell, Eadweard Muybridge, and many others, it is
noticeable that photography styles truly do vary from person to person. Each has their own
technique for capturing an image. Each one has their own purpose when they push that button.
Not one of them takes a picture intending to capture what someone else already has. They all
want to take what they see in the moment and then preserve it to be held throughout time. Not
only has photography allowed these people and many others after their existence to be able to
express how they see the world, but it has also opened the doors for all those other people to join
in on such an art. No longer being limited to paintings and drawings, people from all over could, as
they became more accessible, obtain and utilize a camera. Though the view on photography has not
changed an abundant amount, how pictures are seen by the public has. The people have gone from
taking images as they are in camera, to being able to change them into something entirely different
than what it originally was. From adding, to taking away, to

Functions of the Upper Respiratory Tract
There are three major organs in the upper respiratory tract. The nose, the pharynx, and the larynx
are all located outside of the chest cavity and play a major role in sustaining life. These three
anatomical parts help draw in oxygen from the atmosphere to the lungs for gas exchange.
However, these organs do not only contribute to the exchange of gases but also provide separate
functions as well. The nose is the organ that projects above the mouth on the face of a person or an
animal. The nose contains the nostrils and is used for breathing and smelling. It is the only external
portion of the respiratory system. The nose is not comprised of bone but rather of cartilage. The
nose has tiny hairs and sticky mucus which traps dust particles. The main role of the nose is to
move dust particles to the nostril openings so they can be removed from the body. The pharynx is
the membrane lined cavity that lies behind the nose and mouth. The pharynx connects the nose
and mouth to the esophagus. Food and air pass through the pharynx before reaching their final
destination. The pharynx is sometimes referred to as the throat. It contains a protrusion called the
uvula which can be seen when looking in an opened mouth. The main role of the pharynx is to
assist humans in speech and allow food and air into the body. The larynx is essential to human
speech. The larynx is also known as the voice box. It is a muscular organ that forms an air
passageway to the lungs. It

The Immigration Administration Of New Zealand Essay
New Zealand (NZ) ranks very well in quality of living standards globally and thereby makes it a
sought after destination for immigration. To ensure protection of interest of immigrants and to
safeguard the reputation of New Zealand as a top destination of choice the Immigration Advisers
function is regulated via implementation of the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007 ( The
Act ). In the case of ZW v Immigration Advisers Authority, Judge Priestley J rightly stated that
Parliament s objective for passing the Act was to clean up the Immigration Advisers industry, which
was subject to much justified criticism; towards providing an improved system of transparency,
competency, Conduct Code and acceptable standards of service (ZW v Immigration Advisers
Authority [2012] NZHC 1069 at [41]).
This Act managed to build an overarching legal architecture with clear operating regime, defined
stakeholders accountabilities, well defined process steps and created necessary checks balances to
protect all involved. The Act sits at the centre of the Legal framework that holds the Immigration
Advisory function and creates the necessary safeguards to protect consumers and enhance the New
Zealand s reputation by regulating the practice of providing immigration advice both onshore and
offshore.

To begin, magazines are a huge factor towards the youth s views for beauty and trends. Many

Strict Constructionist Dbq
When it comes to the understanding of the Constitution, Jeffersonian Republicans are generally
characterized as strict constructionists who were opposed to the broad constructionism of the
Federalists. This characterization however, fails to take into account the complexities of the
domestic and foreign policies supported during the presidencies of Jefferson and Madison, as well
as ideas held by the Federalists support the idea that they supported some principles of a strict
constitutional interpretation when it suited their cause. Between 1801 and 1817 it is clear to see
that both parties to some extent crossed their political lines when it was the best way to achieve
their political agendas. On August 13th 1800, before his election Thomas Jeffersonwrote to Gideon
Granger, a future member of Jefferson s cabinet, about taking down the Federalists, protecting the
state s rights, and that the Constitution is the wisest piece of political literature to address the needs
of such a varying and diverse nation(Doc. A). Thomas Jefferson was the Third president of the
United States, the primary author of the Declaration of independence, and believed that America
should grow as an agrarian nation with a limited central government and strong state governments.

An Investigation of Chemical Vapour Deposition of Graphene...

This phenomenon is a result of the separation of carbon from the metal carbide, which occurs at
a high rate upon cooling, in Ni grains and occurs heterogeneously at the various grain
boundaries. Thus, carbon can precipitate out of the grain boundaries, resulting in greater
thickness of graphene at the edges of a layer. However, extremely high quality uniform
monolayers of graphene have been deposited using polycrystalline copper foils, on diameters of
up to 76 cm2,10. Raman analysis shows that copper foils treated at atmospheric pressure, show up
to 95% monolayer coverage, with 5% bi layer or tri layer graphene10. These values are not related
to the growth time or the rate of heating and cooling. In addition, copper foils are relatively cost
efficient and are etched simply with solvents that are readily available. Chemically etching the
transition metal is the best method to transfer graphene deposited on the substrate, resulting in free
floating graphene membranes.
Copper is used as it has the lowest affinity and solubility of carbon, as it does not form a carbide
phase, relative to Ni and Co . This is attributed to copper s filled 3d electron shell, possessing an
electron configuration of [Ar] 3d104s1, which due to its symmetrical electronic configuration
reduces reciprocal electronic repulsions. In addition, copper is able to transfer charge from the ПЂ

In the 1980s, some enclosed malls were remodelled into open air shopping centres. By the mid
1990s, Malls were still being constructed at a rate of 140 a year. The trend was to build enclosed
malls and to renovate older outdoor malls into enclosed ones. Such malls had advantages, including
temperature control. But by the end of 1990 s the trend took a sharp turn and it was again
fashionable to build open air malls. Finally by 2001, a PricewaterhouseCoopers study found that
underperforming and vacant malls were an emerging problem.
According to new trends, the outdoor outlet malls or big box shopping areas known as power
centres are now favoured, although the traditional enclosed shopping mall is still in demand by
those seeking weather protected, all under one roof shopping. High land prices in populated cities
have led to the concept of the vertical mall, in which space allocated to retail is configured over a
number of stories accessible by elevators and/or escalators (usually both) linking the different levels
of the mall.
The major challenge was to encourage the shopper to move upwards downwards, different from the
traditional tendency of moving horizontally. Vertical malls are common in densely populated
conurbations such as Hong Kong and Bangkok. Ex Times Square in Hong Kong.

An Unknown Grignard Reagent Experiment Essay
Grignard
5. Introduction In this experiment, an unknown Grignard reagent was prepared from an aryl halide.
The unknown reagent was then reacted with carbon dioxide to form a carboxylic acid. The solid
acid was then isolated and recrystallized before the melting point was taken. The precipitate was
then dissolved in water and titrated to determine the molecular weight. The melting point and
molecular weight were then used to determine the unknown acid obtained from the experiment.
6. Data and Results The product obtained had a melting point of approximately 107 В°C and a
weight of .324 grams. Some of the product would not dissolve in water and so was removed
through vacuum filtration, which left .141 g not dissolved in solution. It took 13.2 mL of sodium
hydroxide to turn the solution of the product dissolved in water pink. A molecular weight of 138.63
g/mol was calculated from the data. These results indicate that the product was 2 methylbenzoic
acid, the Grignard reagent was 2 methylphenylmagnesium bromide, and the unknown bromide
solution was 2 methylbromobenzene. Calculations showed that the limiting reagent of the Grignard
preparation was magnesium and that the experiment had a 23.13 % yield. 7. Discussion and

Sportsmanlike Behavior
Throughout my time as a high school student, I have learned the importance of sportsmanlike
behavior. While participating in athletic and academic programs, I have found that good
sportsmanship is what makes a good program and a good student athlete. It requires you to not
only look out for yourself but also to look out for the well being of others, both on your team and
on the opposing team. It is important to possess positive sportsmanship because you learn to care
for and help others regardless of differences, which is a quality that is beneficial in an academic
setting, athletics, and life as a whole.
During my high school career, I have demonstrated good sportsmanship while participating in
various extracurricular activities, such as the National Honor Society, diversity club, rocket
cheerleading, track, competitive cheer, and sideline cheer. The activity that allowed me to show my
extreme dedication and sportsmanship the most, was volunteering for rocket cheer. While
participating in rocket cheer, I had the opportunity to coach 1st graders on the different cheers ...

Their sportsmanlike behavior taught me that winning or earning an A in school isn t the most
important thing. The knowledge gained and memories made during the journey are more valuable
than whatever prize you may receive. I have found that this sportsmanlike frame of mind teaches
you how to respond to others in an empathetic manner. For example, in sports you are not always
on the winning side; when you are on the winning team you can still respond to people who lost in
a compassionate manner. Meanwhile, if you are on the losing side you can respond with happiness
at the success of others because you can acknowledge that something was still gained. It is also
about watching others succeed from your assistance and how you pass down what you have learned

African American Chamber Of Commerce Case Study
New Plans Set for African American Business Organization Photo Credit: African American
Chamber of Commerce
Ossie Kendrix, the new president and CEO of Wisconsin s African American Chamber of
Commerce, is already mapping out his plans for the organization. One particular thing he wants to
implement is to transfer the location of the chamber from downtown to Lindsay Heights
particularly the Innovations and Wellness Commons.
He chose this location for its entrepreneur energy and feels that it is the perfect place to position the
chamber. The building and construction is set to start next year.
On January, he wants to develop a strategic planning session where his new board members can
start on building a new future and helping other members expand their businesses. One of their ...

The chamber plans to set up a new program next year to provide technical assistance to help the
growth of their members.
The capacity building program will create a hands on training for the first three quarters to one
year and then the members will receive follow up assistance later on. The program will only be
limited to five members to make the training more efficient, manageable, and cost effective.
Some of the other problems African American businesses face is the lack of investment from the
community who do not patronize their products and services. Another challenge for the business
community in Milwaukee is that the people are too conservative. The city needs to evolve as the
country s next go to city while the city is developing its infrastructure.
The chamber is also thinking of ways on how to elevate and promote the black businesses in
Milwaukee and expand it to neighboring cities. This will help grow the business and clientele of
African American companies.

Improvisation Of The Invisible Man

Improvisational Music In Invisible Man
My only sin is in my skin, What did I do to be so black and blue?
The protagonist, the invisible man, is stoned from marijuana as he listened to Armstrong s
rendition of What Did I Do to Be So Black and Blue and determined that invisibility gives one a
slightly different sense of time, you re never quite on the beat. (Prologue.) The invisible man
respected Armstrong for making something beautiful out of invisibility. Ellison grew up with a
musical background. In Background to Invisible Man, Harold Bloom wrote, Especially rich was his
extensive music education. Ellison entered Tuskegee Institute at nineteen intending ... Show more

The restriction that science imposed was overcame with the ability to think of the situation
differently. The narrator initially embraced his invisibility, but found this action to be boring. He
decided to make his own contributions to society as a multi faceted individual to force others to
acknowledge him and his contributions to society. This is seen when the narrator increased his
activity within the Brotherhood as a public motivator. These two actions relate to the overall theme
of the protagonist thinking of himself as outside the conventional mold because that is displayed as
success consistently in the novel.
Music is open to many interpretations; some artists perform grunge, pop, jazz, etc. Although these
may have different sounds, all of these genres are open to improvisation, a skill that was mastered
by Louis Armstrong. Perhaps I like Louis Armstrong because he s made poetry out of being
invisible. I think it must be because he s unaware that he is invisible. And my own grasp of
invisibility aids me to understand his music. (Prologue.) Because the protagonist is aware of his
invisibility, he is able to comprehend the world around him, while Armstrong s unawareness of his
invisibility allows him to create meaningful art. Music is not one specific note or key; Louis
Armstrong s music is blurred through the use of differing rhythmic beats and improvisation. So
music, creates a world that

The Cardiovascular System Is A Very Complex System In That
The cardiovascular system is a very complex system in that includes not only the main organ the
heart, but also the arteries, veins, and capillaries as well, and even the liver. So, one questions a
lot of people may ask is how does the heart work in order to keep us alive day in and day out. Well,
that answer is quite simple the heartpumps bloodthrough the superior and inferior vena cava and it
then pumps to the lungs to pick up oxygen and then back out through the aorta to the rest of the
body. However, if someone wants to know the details and complexity of the heart, it would be like
this. So there are multiple chambers in the heart. The heart has four chambers an upper right and
left that are called atria, while the lower right and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for the elderly stage of life their hearts also have to work harder due to increased plaque
buildup in the arteries. Thus, making the blood has to push harder through the clotted arteries to
make sure every part of the body gets the oxygen and nutrients it needs in order to function
properly. Also, the elderly also may have issues with heart function because of diseases, and
trauma to the heart throughout their lifetime. A person can experience many different types of
diseases and problems when it comes to the heart some of the major ones would include
myocardial infarctions, Congestive heart failure, and heart disease are some of the leading
heart issues today. So, let s tackle a myocardial infarction first, this is when the heart is cut off to
oxygen rich blood and when it doesn t get oxygen the heart muscle begins to die off and that
portion that has died is no longer functional. So, in some cases that s where pacemakers and
stints and other heart devices come into play to help people live as normally as possible. When
people suffer massive events such as myocardial infarctions. They are at a higher risk for
occurring a second one in the future, because the heart becomes weaker as a result and some
damage may have already occurred as well making it more susceptible too. Some of the symptoms
of a myocardial infarction are pressure, tightness, in the chest or the arms, may go to your neck,
jaw, and your back, fatigue, shortness of

Donald Trump s Arguments Against Immigration In The United...
For our new president, Donald trump it has already been a rough start in office and its only been
a couple of weeks. There is not a lot of people that approve of how he s handling is job already.
The biggest action citizens disapprove of is the travel restrictions and most people say it is an
attempt to ban Muslims from entering the US. Another action that is highly disapproved is The
Wall which will be between the US and Mexico. The citizens of the US are very divided on
whether this will make the US a safer place and protects us from terrorism. Most voters think
President Trump s executive order on immigration is better described as a restriction on terrorist
than as a Muslim ban. This level of strong disapproval already surpasses strong... Show more

But I do understand that public opinion polls play an important role in politics. They are used
throughout the course of election campaigns by candidates and by the media to see which
candidates are ahead and who is likely to emerge victorious. The results of these polls, in turn,
largely determine where future campaign monies are to be spent and where each candidate s
efforts will be concentrated until the close of the campaign. My political opinion is influenced by
public opinion because, knowing the role of the candidates and how they act is a huge part when it
comes to voting on election day. Seeing how they act through media can change your opinion on
how you see the person who s running for presidency. Also, you can keep up with everything and
see who s winning the race. This also shows the months before elections, news coverage often
focuses on the results of pre election polls, and the accumulating of polling results on websites

  • 2. How Does Duchamp Evaluate The Roles Of Artists And... The text by Marcel Duchamp, The Creative Act, evaluates the roles of artists and spectators. He mentions that artists are not in full control of how their art is perceived, but by the people who view it and talk about it. Ultimately, the spectator gives a work of art its meaning, whether or not it aligns with the artists intentions. First, Duchamp suggests that an artist s intentions cannot transcend past the artist. This loss of intention is called art coefficient (Duchamp) If we give the attributes of a medium to the artist, we must then deny him the state of consciousness on the esthetic plane about what he is doing or why he is doing it. • 3. Public Policy Essay Final Paper Brittany Baity PPA603: Government Budgeting (MBQ 1118A) Instructor: Chiji Ohayia June 06, 2011 Public policy is the study of policy making by governments. A government s public policy is the set of policies (laws, plans, actions, behaviors) that it chooses. (Lee, Johnson, Joyce, 2008) Since governments claim authority and responsibility (to varying degrees) over a large group of individuals, they see fit to establish plans and methods of action that will govern that society. I will discuss the possible funding options for reducing Georgia s sex offender rate, evaluate how public policy decisions affect the receipt of revenues, and develop a revenue policy that aligns with community values. It is a parent s nightmare: a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Government created a Project Safe Childhood which is a program to protect children from rapist and sex offenders. The Project Safe Childhood will make a ground for a national zero tolerance culture. The Project Safe Childhood program is a strong three legged stool: one leg is the federal contributions led by the United States Attorneys around the country, another is state and local law enforcement, including the Internet Crimes Against Children task forces funded by the Department s Office of Justice Programs and the third is non governmental organizations, like the Financial Coalition Against Child Pornography and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. [NCMEC] (Geffner, 2008) Under the Project Safe Childhood structure, state, local and federal partners are seeking the toughest sentences possible. The Government has made half a million dollars available for the Project Safe Childhood program. • 4. Martin Luther And The Birth Of Protestantism Throughout the ages, especially in the middle Ages, the Catholic Church had always been a very powerful institution in the world. Its wealth, its political power, its splendid and stunning decorations have always encouraged people to be part of this community of believers. The unique spiritual concern of Catholics around that time was to know how to have access to the kingdom of heaven. But however, did church leaders use this opportunity to manipulate the faithful members of the church in providing for their own needs? Were false doctrines been taught to blind the faithful? What has happened to God s grace? James Atkinson, the author of Martin Lutherand the birth of Protestantism gives us a clear understanding of who Martin Luther was, his mission and his purposes. No other man in history has ever changed the history of the church like Martin Luther did. And he is considered as the man who shook the church in the 16th century. The reason why I chose this book is because the reformation is one of my favorite subject. I studied it in high school, I preached about it and every single time, I always learn something new that makes be proud and happy to be the Seventh day Adventist Christian I am today. Martin Luther is my favorite reformer because he dared to stand against the errors and false teachings of the Catholic Church even when he was threatened to die. Also, I chose this book because I love learning about the catholic church and I really enjoy this topic. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An image of a warrior or Robin Hood like figure is often used to represent the males in these societies, with a longing to triumph, succeed, and to exude his male energy in many different ways. The traditional effeminate characteristics portrayed within the psyche of many female characters introduced in La Reina del Sur not excluding Teresa first presented in Sinaloa, revolve around their physique and nature, with the outcomes of the female characters often being defined relative to the impact of the male hero . This issue more often than not leads to female characters being silent, mistreated, oppressed and/or rescued, perfectly captured through a genuine statement made by the protagonist s first love El GГјero DГЎvila as he unknowingly encapsulates the insignificance of women caught in the narco world Porque, si a mГ me va muy bien, tГ tambГen pero, si me va mal, es requete gacho . Even though El GГјero spoke about Teresa from nowhere but a place of love, much of what he had to say completely disregarded her life and opinion. In that case, it is not the total absense of sound but the absense of speech that determines the silence within a conversation. According to Harold Pinter, this conversational silence can be divided into two categories: one when no word is spoken. The other when perhaps a torrent of language is being employed . In other words, one kind of silence occurs when two people are quiet and not talking to one another. The other, the torrent of language , concerns what can be read between the lines, or the real truth behind what is being said. This latter may not be a genuine silence, but in Pinter s plays,... Even though his fate remains unknown, as well as the actual reason for Goldberg and McCann s presence, fact is that his mental breakdown seems to represent the state of mind of the people of America at the time. In alignment to the impending doom Stanley felt throughout the play, resulting in him basically losing his voice, the people could not fight the terrors of the Cold War and the other wars going on at the time. They were not allowed to resist their government, as that could very well be their own end as well as their country s. As Charles Grimes states in his Harold Pinter s Politics: A Silence Beyond Echo , virtually all of Pinter s political works end in some variant of this painful, double edged silence (49). By this, he asserts that there are two sides to Stanley s silence: [it] is both absolute and complex; it also represents the necessity of a futile resistance to all analogous brutalities (49). The army fought battles against other Greek states and foreign states most often against oligarchies and aristocracies. The army was managed by a polemarch (senior military title), along with ten generals from the ten tribes of Athens. The largest component of the army was the infantry composed of hoplites (citizens fighting in a full set of armour). They went into battle protected by a helmet, breastplate, and greaves (shin guards), carrying a large round shield and long spear. The state would sometimes issue such equipment to citizens who could not afford a set of their own. The Athenian army was primarily male citizens, who were made to enlist at the beginning of the year following their 18th birthdays. For two years, new cadets (known as ephebes) trained full time. It represents the battle of a man versus the nature. When I was reading the story I could feel my body possessed by the cold temperature just because of the way the author described it. The man was travelling with a dog, which was more conscious than him about the situation that they were living and how arduous it was going to be travelling in such conditions. The animal was depressed by the tremendous cold. It knew that it was no time for travelling. (London) Phrase that suggests that animal was most self conscious than the man, even smarter. He leads a group of rabbits to try and start a new warren in a better environment, away from peril. While trying to find this location, Hazel and his rabbits stumble upon another warren, Efrafa. • 30. Photography And The Art Of Photography Photography. To truly appreciate the art of photography, it must be known that it is not some simple task where all one does is press down on the button. This is not all that it is. Photography skills vary from person to person, and can evolve over time. When looking back on the past, one can see how personal photographyis to a photographer. Even from historical photographers such as Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, George Hurrell, Eadweard Muybridge, and many others, it is noticeable that photography styles truly do vary from person to person. Each has their own technique for capturing an image. Each one has their own purpose when they push that button. Not one of them takes a picture intending to capture what someone else already has. They all want to take what they see in the moment and then preserve it to be held throughout time. Not only has photography allowed these people and many others after their existence to be able to express how they see the world, but it has also opened the doors for all those other people to join in on such an art. No longer being limited to paintings and drawings, people from all over could, as they became more accessible, obtain and utilize a camera. Though the view on photography has not changed an abundant amount, how pictures are seen by the public has. The nose, the pharynx, and the larynx are all located outside of the chest cavity and play a major role in sustaining life. These three anatomical parts help draw in oxygen from the atmosphere to the lungs for gas exchange. However, these organs do not only contribute to the exchange of gases but also provide separate functions as well. The nose is the organ that projects above the mouth on the face of a person or an animal. The nose contains the nostrils and is used for breathing and smelling. It is the only external portion of the respiratory system. The nose is not comprised of bone but rather of cartilage. The nose has tiny hairs and sticky mucus which traps dust particles. The main role of the nose is to move dust particles to the nostril openings so they can be removed from the body. The pharynx is the membrane lined cavity that lies behind the nose and mouth. The pharynx connects the nose and mouth to the esophagus. Food and air pass through the pharynx before reaching their final destination. The pharynx is sometimes referred to as the throat. It contains a protrusion called the uvula which can be seen when looking in an opened mouth. The main role of the pharynx is to assist humans in speech and allow food and air into the body. This characterization however, fails to take into account the complexities of the domestic and foreign policies supported during the presidencies of Jefferson and Madison, as well as ideas held by the Federalists support the idea that they supported some principles of a strict constitutional interpretation when it suited their cause. Between 1801 and 1817 it is clear to see that both parties to some extent crossed their political lines when it was the best way to achieve their political agendas. On August 13th 1800, before his election Thomas Jeffersonwrote to Gideon Granger, a future member of Jefferson s cabinet, about taking down the Federalists, protecting the state s rights, and that the Constitution is the wisest piece of political literature to address the needs of such a varying and diverse nation(Doc. This phenomenon is a result of the separation of carbon from the metal carbide, which occurs at a high rate upon cooling, in Ni grains and occurs heterogeneously at the various grain boundaries. Thus, carbon can precipitate out of the grain boundaries, resulting in greater thickness of graphene at the edges of a layer. However, extremely high quality uniform monolayers of graphene have been deposited using polycrystalline copper foils, on diameters of up to 76 cm2,10. Raman analysis shows that copper foils treated at atmospheric pressure, show up to 95% monolayer coverage, with 5% bi layer or tri layer graphene10. The unknown reagent was then reacted with carbon dioxide to form a carboxylic acid. The solid acid was then isolated and recrystallized before the melting point was taken. The precipitate was then dissolved in water and titrated to determine the molecular weight. The melting point and molecular weight were then used to determine the unknown acid obtained from the experiment. 6. Data and Results The product obtained had a melting point of approximately 107 В°C and a weight of .324 grams. Some of the product would not dissolve in water and so was removed through vacuum filtration, which left .141 g not dissolved in solution. It took 13.2 mL of sodium hydroxide to turn the solution of the product dissolved in water pink. A molecular weight of 138.63 g/mol was calculated from the data. These results indicate that the product was 2 methylbenzoic acid, the Grignard reagent was 2 methylphenylmagnesium bromide, and the unknown bromide solution was 2 methylbromobenzene.
