The Airline Industry
According to ATAG, in 2013, over three billion passengers were carried by the world s airlines (Facts
Figures, 2014). This fact demonstrates how the airline industry is a ubiquitous part of our lives. Even
if a person has never used an airline for personal transportation, they are still likely to have consumed
and/or used an assortment of goods transported by the industry. Still, even with its major impact on the
world around it, inside the airline industry, firms must learn to encounter a wide array of external
factors that influence their everyday operations and strategies. These factors can come from both the
general and local environments that surround the industry. Each of these factors in their own way have
an impact on the competitive environment found within the industry.
GENERAL ENVIRONMENT
The general environment consists of six different trends that can have an effect on the strategies a firm
must take to survive in its industry. These six trends are: technological, demographic, cultural,
economic, legal and political, and international (Barney Hesterly, 2016). In the airline industry, this
means things such as fuel price, terroristic threats, and the environmental impact, all of which affect a
firm s strategy choice.
Demographic
As depicted in Chart A in the appendix, disposable income has experienced an overall increase over
the past 10 years (United States Disposable Personal Income, 2015). This means that individuals have
more income to spend

Great Smoky Mountains National Park Research Paper
Someday, I would like to visit Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Crater Lake National Parks,
and Grand Teton National Park because I am a nature lover. Another reason I want to visit these
National Parks is because I seek adventure and they have an abundant supply of adventures to explore.
I want to visit these parks because I like the natural beauty of creation.
The first national park that would be nice to visit would be Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a national park located south of Knoxville, Tennessee.
During my stay, I would visit the splendid waterfalls. Additionally, I would go wildlife watching and
look for black bears, raccoons, and the magnificent peregrine falcon. I would love to visit this park
and stay there for the rest of my life.
Another park that would be awesome to visit is Crater Lake National Park. Crater Lake National Park
is located in Oregon. The park was created by a volcanic eruption. The Crater Lake is the deepest lake
located in the United States. The deepest part of the lake is 1,949 feet deep. There are amazing view
from many outlooks throughout the park. I would love to go snowmobiling around the lake. Crater
Lake National Park gets an average of forty four feet of snowfall per year, which is excellent for ...

The Ocean s Unique Creatures
The Ocean s Unique Creatures
The ocean is full of many unique creatures. From the water s surface to the sea floor, there is a
plethora of organisms we have yet to even discovered; however, even the organisms we do have data
on are completely different from anything that we have previously seen on land. This gives cause to
think they must have unique habits and patterns completely separate from all that we must know. (
Kelp 1)
Starting the closest to the surface, giant kelp is a photosynthetic organism in the photic zone. Giant
kelp consists of many blade like leaves that comprise the whole of its body (Cabrillo). Being a

The kelp must have a strong place to anchor itself so it does not get ripped out. Giant Kelp can
reproduce in two ways, sexually and asexually. It is capable of producing sperm and egg cells as well
as being able to grow off of broken fragments (Harvey). Some interesting facts about kelp is that it can
grow up to two feet a day under ideal conditions and that it can be used in a variety of products from
cosmetics to cereals (Monterey). Giant kelp is a very useful organism under the ocean that is
constantly used for many different products making this plant unique in many ways. (Roper) Deep
into the depths of the ocean is the giant squid. It has a radial body with two large eyes, eight arms, two
feeding tentacles and one funnel (Roper). They lurk near the coastlines in the Atlantic ocean and live
about 300 to 1000 meters deep into the bathyal zone (Roper). Giant squids can only live where there is
salt water, and often times thrives when exposed to colder waters as it has few predators that live in
colder environment. Often times it feeds on larger fish and other, smaller squids. When reproducing,
male giant squids contain a sperm packet which is expelled from the penis which is up to seven feet
long. When the male finds the female, he directly injects the sperm packet into her arm (Roper). The

Ritz Carlton Strategic Planning Essay
A familiar organization and stakeholders that ought to be involved in the strategic planning process
There are many organizations that are very familiar to me; however, there is one organization that
stands out among them. The name of the organization is Ritz Carlton Hotel. Ritz Carlton hotel was
founded in 1983 and headquartered in Chevy Chase, Maryland, United States of America. The
organization has accumulated well over ninety (90) hotels in twenty nine (29) countries. Its vision is
inspires life s most meaningful journeys (Ritz Carlton Hotel, n.d.).
The Ritz Carlton has various stakeholders who ought to be involved in the strategic planning process.
These stakeholders include the senior management, employees, Value Chain Partners (Suppliers), ...

While different organizations appoint several stakeholders for this task, others restrict their strategic
planning process to their internal stakeholders only. In this case, only top executives are responsible
for the planning and decision making. However, in the Ritz Carlton hotel, both internal and external
stakeholders are involved in the strategic planning process. The organization understands the benefit
of inclusion in generating ideas. This paper will, therefore, elaborate on the Ritz Carlton hotel as a
familiar organization and duly identifies the various stakeholders that ought to be involved in its
strategic planning process and the paper examines the importance of these stakeholders and the unique
insight they bring to the strategic planning process. Furthermore, the paper considers the various
functional areas that are important and the functional areas that are less relevant in the strategic
planning process. As in every organization, decision makers are important so this paper identified key
decision makers in the Ritz Carlton strategic planning process and finally, we evaluate the importance
and effect of these stakeholders in the organization s planning

The Importance Of Essential For Healthy Family Functioning...
According to Professor Rick Peterson, there are five essential roles essential to healthy family
functioning, they include providing resources, support and nurturing, development of life skills
(especially for young children), maintenance and management of the family system, and sexual
gratification between spouses. (Peterson and Green) In this section we re going to look at how these
are incorporated into the family s instrumental functioning and their expressive functioning.
Instrumental Functioning As stated earlier in the paper, this family is very set in old traditions. EM
stays home with the kids all day while RM goes to work. While at home EM cooks for the kids, cleans
the house, takes care of the dog, and makes sure the household runs smoothly. They have decided to
homeschool their children when they get a little older, so she is also preparing information and
supplies for that.
Since the kids don t go to daycare, EM has to make sure that they have some interaction throughout
the day, so she brings them on walks to the park. Their daily routine is waking up and having EM cook
everyone breakfast. She packs a lunch for RM and he grabs it before heading out the door. Once the
kids are done eating, EM starts cleaning the house and EJM and HM are sent outside to play. Then
comes lunch time, which according to EM is the craziest part of the day! The kids are tired and crabby
and there is still so much to do. After the kids are done eating they lay down for

Spanish Colonization Of North America
Spanish Colonization of North America In 1492 when Christopher Columbus discovered the New
World, Spain had discovered its next easy conquest. With North America added to its territory Spain
had surpassed ancient Rome as the largest empire. Exploiting the land, labor, and minerals Spain
quickly conquered and settled most of South America, the Caribbean, and the Southwest. Spain used
its new wealth to help finance their war in Europe. With promises of riches and many natives to
convert to Christianity the Spanish sent conquistadors who brought with them not only superior
military technology but also diseases like smallpox, scarlet fever, and the bubonic plague decimating
native populations like the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas. These Spanish conquistadors, who were
poverty stricken nobles predominantly from the west and south of Spain, were then awarded
encomiendas, land grants that included the right to force native populations into slavery as long as the
convert them to Christianity (Shmoop Editorial Team, 2008). The Spanish Monarchy governed North
America using viceroyalties and audencias, royal mediation courts. The church also played a part in
governing the New World and large areas like what is known today as Texas, Arizona, New Mexico,
and California was under control of Dominican, Franciscan, and Jesuit missionaries with the goal of
converting the natives to Catholicism. Since North America was being used to fuel the income needs
of wars over in Europe the Spanish

Evil Dead Reflection
One Friday, September 29, 2017, I visited the City Theatre (inside Hockeytown Café) to watch Evil
Dead: The Musical written by George Reinblatt and presented by Olympia Entertainment and Sweat
Equity Studio. When I first arrived, I was greeted by the Usher who gave me a program. In the
Program, there is a bolded section with the name and title of those that made the production possible.
The director for this play was Jamie Warron, and the music director was Timothy Martuch. In the
second and third page of the program is a section called Who s Who , which serves the purpose giving
a brief description of the crew involved and their titles. In class we looked at some of the job duties for
those involved in a play, and this can relate to that description of each job and individual. Evil Dead is
about four college students who go on a trip for spring break to an abandoned cabin in the woods.
There they find a book that helps them release some sort of evil spirit. Each of them start to get
attacked by this evil spirit and killing one by one. In the performance that I witnessed, the story was
told in a comedic way compared to the Evil Dead film, which is more of a scarier and serious form of
the story. To me, the play seemed to have two themes, perseverance and good versus evil.
Perseverance to survive from the evil being who wanted to kill all of them. One of the characters cut
his arm off in order to not allow the evil spirit to take control over him. To me, the purpose of the

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson
In Daresbury in 1832, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, or better know as Lewis Carroll was born. He grew
up with several younger siblings who he told stories to, one of those being Alice in Wonderland . This
beautifully written story is about a ten year old girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit s hole into a
colorful world full of mad characters called Wonderland. England in 1865 has become part of the
victorian time period and along with it came many traits that set it apart. Throughout the piece, Carroll
challenges many traits of England s society and turns them into something that made this story so
unforgettable. Victorian etiquette, education for children, government, and drugs are just some of the
things Carroll brings in from his time period ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the very ending of the book, the King and Queen of Hearts make everyone attend court over the
case of the missing tarts. Alice thought everything seemed very official with the jury box that held all
of the jurors with their slates, and the king as the judge with his white wig on. Eventually, Alice
discovers that the jury is writing the words Stupid things on their slates, and one of them does not
even spell the word stupid correctly (130 Carroll). This continues on with the witnesses, but between
every break the king calls for the verdict of the jury. This does relate to the time period because it was
rumored that when it came to the court system in the 1800 s, the witnesses never really mattered to the
judge. This rumor was reflected onto the King of Heart s character. Throughout the court case, Alice
begins to openly announce her thoughts to the courtroom. She criticizes the queen s decision to make
the sentence before the verdict, Stuff and nonsense! The idea of having the sentence first! (146). It is
thought that the Queen of Hearts actually symbolizes a real queen of England. Queen Margaret of
Anjou ruled from 1445 to 1461, and then again from 1470 to 1471. She was married to King Henry
VII and she had a son named Edward. She fought for the house of Lancaster which has a red rose for
its family name (Margaret). This does connect to the Queen of Hearts when her servants had to paint
the roses red. Why, the fact is, you see, Miss, this here ought to have been a red rose tree, and we put a
white one in by mistake; and, it the Queen was to find it out, we should all have our heads cut off, you
know. (90). The white roses were the symbol for the house of York, these two houses fought for the
right to the English throne in the War of the Roses. In the end of Queen Margaret s reign, her son was
killed by getting his head cut off, which is

Resolutions at Workplace
RESOLUTIONS AT WORKPLACES
Today, negative samples of conflicts are surrounding us; when you turn on your TV, almost every
news program, reality show or a talk show or sitcom episode, we watch people acting out their
conflicts more often than not in their worst way possible. Let s face the reality here; anyone working
person, spends more time with our work colleagues with than we do with our family, friends and loved
ones. Fortunately or rather unfortunately, our work colleagues become our best friends. But even in
the best of times it s not unusual to be faced with the guy three cubicles down from yours whom you d

Mediation supports people to find a path through the pain of conflict and out to resolution. Mediation
does help parties to generate their own positive outcome from their conflict journey (Katherine
Graham, 2010) .
According to Vivian Scott, every person involved in a conflict, has a responsibility in that conflict. As
difficult as it is to admit you probably have some responsibility in the conflict. Self assessment, and by
that I mean more than 30 seconds of superficial introspection, requires you to consider how your
actions and reactions look to others. Ask yourself, what have I said or done, or not said or done, that
has kept this conflict going? Change may not happen overnight, and you may need the assistance of
friends, family, or professionals to help you through the transition. No need to continue being the
bully, the one who stirs the pot, or even the victim. If it takes two to tango and you re no longer
willing to dance, the conflict has no choice but to diminish, (Vivian Scott, 2010) .
Pride comes before a fall; we have to change our character and even when our expectations are not
met, the immense fulfillment of our goals and ideas in furthering our agenda has a quality that is
above the conflict. When we examine and change our own habitual patterns of

Essay On Tourette s Syndrome In The Classroom
Tourette s Syndrome in the Classroom
Introduction to Tourette s Syndrome
Students have many academic experiences that are different from each other. Every student has his/her
own abilities or disabilities that affect their learning process. Some disabilities do not necessarily
prohibit a child s learning, but others may adversely affect a child s cognitive abilities. Some learning
disabilities are addressed in an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a 504 plan. Once a teacher
realizes that a student has some sort of special needs, then the teacher must plan to make adjustments
or accommodations to address those needs. One of these conditions is Tourette s syndrome. According

Risk factors for this conditions include male sex, and a family history of tics, OCD, and possibly
ADHD (p. 2333). The symptoms of Tourette s Syndrome typically start in early childhood with the
visible tics. It may take a while for a doctor to firmly diagnose certain tics as Tourette s syndrome as it
difficult to diagnose this condition. It usually takes about a year after the tics become present for them
to be diagnosed and the diagnosed is made clinically and does not need neuroimaging or laboratory
testing for the condition to be confirmed (Kurlan, 2010, 2333). The tics related to this condition cause
problems in several daily functions in various ways in many aspects of their lives.
There are many options for treatments for people diagnosed with Tourette s Syndrome. According to
Dr. Kurlan (2013), tics can be treated with habit reversal cognitive behavioral therapy, medications
(most commonly alpha agonists and antipsychotics), local intramuscular injections of botulinum toxin
and some severe, refractory cases have responded to deep brain stimulation surgery (DBS). Some of
these treatments can be also used for people diagnosed with other disabilities including ADHD and
OCD. Behavioral therapy can help children with Tourette s Syndrome monitor their tics. The other
methods are mostly either medications or DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) which is usually used by

Review Of How To Read Literature Like A Professor Chapter 10
Journal Entry 6:
Chapter 10 of How to Read Literature Like a Professor is called Never Stand Next to the Hero. This
chapter claims that character s deaths are important plot devices. Foster made a great point of saying
how readers become emotionally attached to characters in books. He makes to point that characters
aren t real people. They re not people because they have never existed. I mean, have you ever met one
on the street? Characters are simply an outline made by the author and the reader coloring in that
outline to make the character what they want it to be. Foster also pushed the point across that the main
character can t ever die in the beginning or middle of the book. If the main character dies, what s the
point of the book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And Other Ironies . This chapter s claim is Irony trumps everything. What Foster means by this is that
trumping everything, irony doesn t eliminate other layers of meaning. Rather, irony relies on these
other layers of meaning: symbolic, archetypal, intertextual, or otherwise and then overthrows them by
converting them into the ironic mode. In Animal Farm a lot of dramatic irony takes place. The animals
think that they remember Major s words that had become the Seven Commandments, but their
illiteracy causes them to be unsure. The animals never had to deal with human beings, never had to
engage in trade, and they never had to make use of money. All the animals remembered passing such
resolutions (or at least they thought they did.) The reader doesn t forget what the original rules were
and even if that happened they could go back in the story and look for themselves, while the animals
in the book couldn t. The animal s forgetfulness is an example of dramatic irony. Dramatic irony gives
the reader information that one or more of the characters does not know, thereby, creating incongruous
dialogue. Illiteracy becomes a problem for the animals again when they cheerfully bid Boxer, the
hardworking horse, goodbye, thinking that he is going to a veterinary hospital for treatment. The
animals crowded round the van. Good bye, Boxer! they chorused,

Minimum Wage Effect
Minimum Wage and the Effect of Unemployment in the Low Skilled Sector
The Federal government mandates laws to help protect and serve the people of the United States of
America. Citizens always have a say in the matter with the influence of their vote or by letting their

recent concerns is that of the minimum wage and its ability to provide a living for the workers that are

Summary Of The Poem The World Is Too Much With Us
I have read this poem once before when I was looking for a poem to participate in the Poetry Out
Loud contest. It was among three poems that caught my attention, but I discarded it after I decided on
Invictus . The World Is Too Much With Us is about how the human race has become detached from
nature and proclaiming that this is horrid this is. One perspective of this poem is to think of how we
need to reaffirm our connection with the natural world. However, there is also another perspective that
hides in the shadow of the first perspective. Is our attachment to modern society a positive thing? The
speaker proclaims that he would rather be ...rather be a pagan suckled in a creed outworn... so that he
could enjoy nature (lines 9 10). I believe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This implies that the speaker says that he would prefer to be removed from society so that he could
live in nature. The second perspective is that participation in society is less important than having a
relationship with nature. There are numerous literary devices in the poem. One example is
personification is in line 5 where the sea bares her bosom . This poet refers to the sea as her and a sea
would have no bosom . There is a simile in line 7 And are up gathered now like sleeping flowers.
Finally, there are two allusions to greek gods in lines 13 and 14, Proteus and Triton respectively. Line
14 gives the example of imagery Or hear Old Triton blow his wreathed horn . One can imagine the
great sea god blowing a curled horn amid a vast ocean for all to hear. Wordsworth chose images such
as this one because they were strong and powerful. This last line, with Triton sounding the wreathed
horn, symbolizes that nature is calling to humanity, beckoning for us to return to the natural world.
The pagan mentioned in line 10 symbolizes the ideal human: at home with nature, disengaged from
society. The form of the poem, with its prevalent rhyming and references to ancient gods and pagans
creates a forceful ancient

Hubbard is part of the growing American society that has discovered large money in mass litigation.

While I applaud the Bush administration for taking viable steps towards stopping the practice of
frivolous lawsuits, I do not feel that it is in my position to place a price tag on a human life. While
tragic cases such as these place insurance companies, doctors, legislators and families in an ethical and
legal dilemma, it is the lawyers who pursue a common practice known as ambulance chasing, that
causes the root of all of these problems. Having originally acquired its name from personal injury
lawyers, this immoral method is applied when a law firm contacts a recent accident victim and pries
them into taking their cases to court. In many states, laws have been instilled that ban ambulance
chasing specifically accident victims however money hungry lawyers have found ways to outthink the
system. Hubbard is a perfect example of such a lawyer. Hubbard and her hired associates have visited
hundreds of businesses, which offer services to the public. Prying their way into restaurants, malls,

made the city what it was; they offered all sorts of comforts that other nations could only dream of.
The city itself was alive with the hustle and bustle of daily life: men could be heard talking, women
laughing, and children playing, all set to the sound of a soft mechanical whirring as Zamon Dors
inventions were alive in all aspects of life. People wore artisanal watches, others rode on clockwork

The garden was small, but this is where the timewalker spent most of her life.
The lush green of the palace gardens offered a much needed juxtaposition against the sea of machines
outside of the garden walls. There were no birds or insects to be seen, as neither existed in Zamon
Dor, and so there was only the sound of the wind as it rustled the leaves of the great tree in the middle
of the garden. This was where Kali, the palace timewalker, came every day from mid morning to just
before dusk. Kali was the definition of serenity, her appearance was that of an older child, aged
anywhere between thirteen to sixteen. Her skin was fair, with jet black hair and steely eyes that could
pierce through even the toughest of men.
Sir Kairos, a member of the consulship and Kali s overseer, was a short, stout man who was half bald.
Despite his aged appearance, he had a silver tongue, with honeyed words dripping with power. He was
one of the few who was given his position, rather than being born into it.
Kali, oh Kali dearest, Kairos said in a singsong voice, poking his head through the garden gate and
cutting the silence, I need to see you, very important business. Orders from the Chief Magistrate
himself! And you know how he gets when he s kept waiting. With that, Kairos departed, surely to
attend to the very important matter of deciding what outfit would best please the Chief Magistrate.
Kali silently stood and began down the corridor

Amyloid Β Precursor Protein Analysis
Amyloid β Precursor Protein (APP) is a gene that provides instructions for making a protein called
amyloid precursor protein (Andrew, 2009). Amyloid precursor protein is found in several tissues and
organs including the brain and the spinal cord in other words the central nervous system (Andrew,
2009). Some studies suggest that in the brain, APP help direct movement of nerve cells during early
development. For instance, APP may be involved in the regulation of synaptogenesis which is the
formation of synapses between neurons in the nervous system (Dawkins, 2014).
Additionally, APP is cut by enzymes that create smaller fragments that are often released outside the
cell. Some fragments that help play a role in AD are soluble amyloid precursor

Similarities And Differences Between Ancient Greens And...
In comparing and contrasting the societies of Periclean Athens and ancient Egypt, we must first
mention some of the characteristics of an actual society: a society has social levels and classes, a
governmental system, and a developed culture. Both of these societies fit into these parameters. In this
essay we will explore social classes, gender relations, social inequality, and hierarchy as they apply to
these societies. Both ancient Athens and Egypt adhered to a strict hierarchical framework, ranking
people as superiors or inferiors. Old Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is described as having the king and
queen at the top, with priests, administrators, governors and army commanders coming second, then
the commoners who worked mostly in agriculture, and finally, slaves, who had been captured in war.
(Hunt, pg. 22). According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was structured as such: the Pharaoh
came first, and was believed to be God on earth. Next came the Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief
advisor. Nobles were next in the hierarchy, and made local laws. Priests followed, and were
responsible for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they were
the only ones who could read or write, so they were the record keepers. A small percentage of boys
from good families were trained for this particular job, starting at the age of five. Soldiers came next,
and were responsible for the defense of the country. Craftsmen were workers who were

Dramatic Irony in the Crucible
English 10, essay
The Crucible, option 2
In The Crucible , Arthur Miller uses dramatic irony to create anxiety, frustration and to demonstrate
the tension between the people about the lies of witchcraft in Salem.
I. The author creates tension in the story by using Abigail who accuses innocent people of witchery.
1.) Abigail wants Elizabeth to get hanged so she can be back with John again.
2.) Abigail turns herself against Mary Warren after she confessed in court.
II. The author creates anxiety in the story by making the court so powerful.
1.) If the court thinks you are a witch, you can t defend yourself.
2.) The court believes the lies of Abigail which causes a lot of people to hang.

Abigail Williams, seventeen, enters a strikingly beautiful girl, an orphan, with an endless capacity for
dissembling. Here, the reader also knows that she is not always as she appears. The affair of John
Proctor and Abigail is another example of dramatic irony. We know what has happened between them
but the rest of the characters, except for Elizabeth, are still oblivious. Not only Abigail is lying about
this, but also John Proctor for the sake of his reputation in town.
A third instance of dramatic irony is the situation with the needle in the doll. With this, it was Abigail
´s goal to get Elizabeth Proctor accused of witchcraft. Mary Warren made this doll when Abigail was
sitting next to her. She left the needle inside. Mary gave the doll to Elizabeth as a gift. Abigail knew
the needle was in the doll, so she stabbed herself in the stomach with a needle. With this she made the
people believe Elizabeth used Voodoo on her and therefore used witchcraft. The audience knows this
is not true and that Abigail is a false and lying girl. We know she does this is because she wants to get
rid of Elizabeth. She is in the way of Abigail and that has still to do with the affair only the Proctors
and the audience know about.
When Elizabeth is asked to tell the truth about John Proctor being an adulterer is another part where
dramatic irony is used. She is a very honest woman but for the sake of her husband s good name she
lies and says that

Use Of Ipod As An Educational Experiment
Technology has brought huge influences on everyone s lives, and one of the influences is reflecting on
education collective learning. The Duke University brought iPod as an academic device and
educational experiment to all the first year class students. The iPod inverts the traditional role of
technology, which has many new functions. Students can not only listen to music, but also use the
iPod as an academic device to share knowledge with others. This concept can be seen in Project
Classroom Makeover, by Cathy Davidson. In Project Classroom Makeover, Davidson introduces the
use of iPod as an educational experiment, which brings out the idea of crowdsourcing. Crowdsourcing
is a group of people will share their ideas and solve the problem, which is one way of collective
learning. In the Duke University, students will collaborate and share creative ideas together. Collective
learning has played a positive role in education by regaining students interest of studying, improving
student s collaborate thinking, and increasing the likelihood of students to success in the future.
Collective learning helps the parents and educators to regain students interest of studying. The iPod
was a popular entertainment device back in 2003, and this device was mainly for listening music.
However, in the Duke University, iPod became an effective study tool, and students can use iPod in
various ways. Classes from Spanish 101 to Introduction to Jazz to organic chemistry could be taped an

Taxon B or Taxon A Proboscidea Hyracoidea
12. Perform an internet search for these two taxa and find out their common names.
What are their common names? Describe each.
The common name for Sirenia is Sea Cow. Sea cows are fully aquatic, herbivorous mammals that
appear fat. They have forelimbs used for steering and a tail used for paddling. The common name for
Hyracoidea are hyraxes. Hyraxes are well furred animals with short tails and have poor internal
temperature regulation.
What was your thought/reaction upon discovering what these creatures are?
My thought reaction was how can animals that look nothing alike be similar to an elephant if they
visually look different.
Believe it or not, there are morphological (phenotypic) similarities as well as dietary and behavioral
similarities between all of these taxa. BEFORE molecular data was available, scientists already

Surface Tension of Water Research
My science fair project is on the surface tension of water and what affects the surface tension of water.
The question that I am going to ask is how does temperature and salinity of water affect the surface
tension of the water. My hypothesis is that the colder and the saltier that the water is, the stronger that
the surface tension of the water will be. Some of the background research that I have done has
explained to me that the surface tension of water is a property of a liquids surface that can cause it to
resist external forces. Surface tension is caused by the property of cohesion which is intermolecular
attraction between two or more similar molecules. The molecules on the surface of the liquid in this
case water have no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The relationship between the pressures involved in surface tension measurement is very important in
defining their properties. There are several different forms of surface tension which means that there
are many different ways of measuring surface tension in terms of data applications and analyzations.
The most commonly known way is called the du Nouy ring method developed in 1925 by Pierre
Lecomte du Nouy which is a method which uses a force to lift a platinum ring from the surface of a
liquid and measuring the amount of force that was required to do so. I did much research into the ideas
and theories behind surface tension and what I found most interesting was the different ways of
measuring the surface tension and how the surface tension cannot bond with air. Bibliography: *

Essay about The Media’s Effect on Adolescent Bodies
The Media s Effect on Adolescent Bodies
The stringent standard Barbie doll proportions of body image and what is considered beautiful in
today s media has resulted in devastating effects on adolescent women. The images displayed of
women who have long beautiful legs, thin waist lines and smooth flawless skin are very hard to
ignore. Throughout history the female body has been on display as a selling tool to coerce people into
buying that new fancy car or the latest new appliance that can make their everyday lives easier.
Commercials of the extremely thin Kelly Ripa can act as a mantra of what a modern day picture

In her book The Beauty Myth, Naomi Wolf criticizes the media and its negative effects on women by
stating that every woman should be allowed the choice to do whatever we want with our faces and
bodies without being punished by an ideology that is using attitudes, economic pressure, and even
legal judgments regarding women s appearance to undermine us psychologically and politically (10).
Some of the most common negative effects that young girls are experiencing are physical, emotional,
and social.
The physical effect s that the media has on a young girl s overall beauty and body image are
staggering. Many young girls put their bodies through painful physical transformations. They want to
look just like their favorite celebrities or to fit into the latest fashion trends and appeal to the media s
idea of what the opposite sex wants them to look like. Willis s The Culture of Beauty, argues this point
by saying The Media distract women from focusing on what bodies do... dressing up, dressing down
or sculpting our bodies in pursuit of a profile the we d be happy to avoid dressing altogether. They
print lessons available to male readers regarding what s desirable and ideal when it comes to the sizes
and shapes of women s body parts (106 107). What s even more disturbing is the physical appearance
of girls who starve themselves to reach the

Deaf People Disability
Do Deaf people have a disability? What is the difference between Deaf and deaf ?
A disability can be defined as a limitation of function because of an impairment (Lane, 2008, p. 277).
To some, deaf people [seem] limited in some functions because of an impairment of hearing (Lane,
2008, p. 277). However, this determination of disability has arisen from norms and the technologies of
normalization (Lane, 2008, p. 279) by the hearing and otherwise able bodied world. To the hearing
world, Deaf people lack the ability to hear; a sense which so many of us hearing people depend on. In
actuality, the only reason Deaf people seem to suffer is because we, the hearing majority, have placed
our own beliefs and values on them. By labeling Deaf people as disabled, we are guilty of audism and
ableism, as we [insist] that inherent biological factors determine individual traits and capacity (Lane,
2008, p. 282), and assume their life is lacking because they either cannot hear or cannot hear as well
as we think they should. If we were to change our mentality about accessibility, about human rights,
and about individuality, it would seem clear that the only reason Deaf people are limited in any way is
because the majority makes so much revolve around the importance of hearing, and dismiss the reality

Resilience In The Movie Unbroken
The article, Unbroken: what makes some people more resilient than others, uses the example of Louis
Zamperini as shown in the movie, Unbroken, to examine the role of resilience in the ability to recover
after a traumatic event. Written by David Cox for The Guardian, the article discusses current research
on resilience, and explains how it can be used to treat post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Many
people experience a severe trauma in their lives, but only a few go on to develop PTSD. For a long
time, the focus has been on what makes people more susceptible to developing PTSD. A newer
approach to studying stress disorders, as the article establishes, is the study of resilience. Using the
example of Louis Zamperini, the article describes an interdisciplinary approach to studying resilience
including biological, social, and lifestyle factors.
The article begins by introducing the story of Louis Zamperini. Zamperini was an Olympic runner that
underwent a series of extraordinary circumstances. He was a member of the American Air Force in
World War II when his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Zamperini was stranded in a tiny life raft
for forty seven days before being captured by the Japanese. He then spent two years in Japanese
concentration camps as a prisoner of war, enduring harsh punishment before being released. Cox
explains that after this severe physical and physiological trauma, Zamperini was able to eventually
forge past this and become a spokesman of his

Red Lobster Research Paper
We all love dining out for good food and laughter with our family, friends or significant other.
Whether it s a birthday, an anniversary or a casual night on the town, eating at the right restaurant, that

That s what made Red lobster my favorite. it is not just a night of eating out, it is an experience. Not

Color Symbolism In The Great Gatsby
Gatsby has connections with many colors that assist in portraying a more extensive breakdown of his
character. The colors I feel correspond with Gatsby in the most comprehensive way are blue, green,
and yellow. Interpreting his hopefulness, naiveness, and ambition into colors showed Fitzgerald s
aspiration for the reader to envision the bigger picture. While people may see the colors in different
ways, the general idea stays prominent. Blue helps convey Gatsby s deep loneliness and illusions of
how life becomes for him. In his blue gardens men and girls came and went. (Page 41). Attempting to
create his own fantasy, he throws parties to mask his true inner loneliness and want for Daisy. Never
attending the parties himself shows he has no desire to connect with the other rich people, but needs
something to fill the gaping space he has set aside for her. A large, blue lawn separates them and
mocks him at the end of his dock. In a sense, he has created a large barrier separating him from reality
which shows with his denial of change and feel he can start things where they left off. ... Show more

connected with his naive hopes of his future with Daisy, the light also symbolizes his straightforward

of her current relationship. The novel suggests she is the centerpiece of Gatsby s american dream.
Conveying the sense the dream is just an illusion, it all crumbles down, leaving him with nothing to

When his feelings of this were conflicted, he believed he could always go back in time and change her

Optimization For The Design Of Load Frequency Control
PSO OPTIMIZED FLC FOR THE DESIGN OF LOAD FREQUENCY CONTROL
M. MAHAMMED JABEER
Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Electronics Engineering,
AVR SVR Engineering College, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
Abstract: Load frequency control problem is considered as one of the most important issues in the
design operation of power systems. Due to lack of good efficiency in parameters variation conditions,
working conditions of system and non linear factors, a simple PI controller is not suitable in industrial
applications. Instead, fuzzy controllers can be used in order to enhance the performances of the
systems. In this paper, the use of the optimized type 1 fuzzy logic controller using Particle Swarm
Optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed to solve the load frequency control problem. To the best of
our knowledge, the PSO optimization of fuzzy type 1 controller in order to solve load frequency
control problem, has not been investigated so far. The proposed controller has good performance and
is capable to solve the load frequency control problem in conditions of wide variations of system
parameters and nonlinear factors such as generation rate constraint. Simulation results show that the
optimized fuzzy controller proposed in this paper exhibits better performance compared to PI
controller in damping of system deviations.
Key words: power system, load frequency control, type 1 fuzzy logic controller, PSO algorithm.

  • 2. The Airline Industry According to ATAG, in 2013, over three billion passengers were carried by the world s airlines (Facts Figures, 2014). This fact demonstrates how the airline industry is a ubiquitous part of our lives. Even if a person has never used an airline for personal transportation, they are still likely to have consumed and/or used an assortment of goods transported by the industry. Still, even with its major impact on the world around it, inside the airline industry, firms must learn to encounter a wide array of external factors that influence their everyday operations and strategies. These factors can come from both the general and local environments that surround the industry. Each of these factors in their own way have an impact on the competitive environment found within the industry. GENERAL ENVIRONMENT The general environment consists of six different trends that can have an effect on the strategies a firm must take to survive in its industry. These six trends are: technological, demographic, cultural, economic, legal and political, and international (Barney Hesterly, 2016). In the airline industry, this means things such as fuel price, terroristic threats, and the environmental impact, all of which affect a firm s strategy choice. Demographic As depicted in Chart A in the appendix, disposable income has experienced an overall increase over the past 10 years (United States Disposable Personal Income, 2015). This means that individuals have more income to spend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Professor Rick Peterson, there are five essential roles essential to healthy family functioning, they include providing resources, support and nurturing, development of life skills (especially for young children), maintenance and management of the family system, and sexual gratification between spouses. (Peterson and Green) In this section we re going to look at how these are incorporated into the family s instrumental functioning and their expressive functioning. Instrumental Functioning As stated earlier in the paper, this family is very set in old traditions. EM stays home with the kids all day while RM goes to work. While at home EM cooks for the kids, cleans the house, takes care of the dog, and makes sure the household runs smoothly. They have decided to homeschool their children when they get a little older, so she is also preparing information and supplies for that. Since the kids don t go to daycare, EM has to make sure that they have some interaction throughout the day, so she brings them on walks to the park. • 8. Spanish Colonization Of North America Spanish Colonization of North America In 1492 when Christopher Columbus discovered the New World, Spain had discovered its next easy conquest. With North America added to its territory Spain had surpassed ancient Rome as the largest empire. Exploiting the land, labor, and minerals Spain quickly conquered and settled most of South America, the Caribbean, and the Southwest. Spain used its new wealth to help finance their war in Europe. With promises of riches and many natives to convert to Christianity the Spanish sent conquistadors who brought with them not only superior military technology but also diseases like smallpox, scarlet fever, and the bubonic plague decimating native populations like the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas. These Spanish conquistadors, who were poverty stricken nobles predominantly from the west and south of Spain, were then awarded encomiendas, land grants that included the right to force native populations into slavery as long as the convert them to Christianity (Shmoop Editorial Team, 2008). The Spanish Monarchy governed North America using viceroyalties and audencias, royal mediation courts. The church also played a part in governing the New World and large areas like what is known today as Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California was under control of Dominican, Franciscan, and Jesuit missionaries with the goal of converting the natives to Catholicism. • 9. Evil Dead Reflection One Friday, September 29, 2017, I visited the City Theatre (inside Hockeytown Café) to watch Evil Dead: The Musical written by George Reinblatt and presented by Olympia Entertainment and Sweat Equity Studio. When I first arrived, I was greeted by the Usher who gave me a program. In the Program, there is a bolded section with the name and title of those that made the production possible. The director for this play was Jamie Warron, and the music director was Timothy Martuch. In the second and third page of the program is a section called Who s Who , which serves the purpose giving a brief description of the crew involved and their titles. In class we looked at some of the job duties for those involved in a play, and this can relate to that description of each job and individual. Evil Dead is about four college students who go on a trip for spring break to an abandoned cabin in the woods. There they find a book that helps them release some sort of evil spirit. Each of them start to get attacked by this evil spirit and killing one by one. In the performance that I witnessed, the story was told in a comedic way compared to the Evil Dead film, which is more of a scarier and serious form of the story. To me, the play seemed to have two themes, perseverance and good versus evil. Perseverance to survive from the evil being who wanted to kill all of them. One of the characters cut his arm off in order to not allow the evil spirit to take control over him. To me, the purpose of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He grew up with several younger siblings who he told stories to, one of those being Alice in Wonderland . This beautifully written story is about a ten year old girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit s hole into a colorful world full of mad characters called Wonderland. England in 1865 has become part of the victorian time period and along with it came many traits that set it apart. At the very ending of the book, the King and Queen of Hearts make everyone attend court over the case of the missing tarts. Alice thought everything seemed very official with the jury box that held all of the jurors with their slates, and the king as the judge with his white wig on. Eventually, Alice discovers that the jury is writing the words Stupid things on their slates, and one of them does not even spell the word stupid correctly (130 Carroll). This continues on with the witnesses, but between every break the king calls for the verdict of the jury. This does relate to the time period because it was rumored that when it came to the court system in the 1800 s, the witnesses never really mattered to the judge. This rumor was reflected onto the King of Heart s character. Throughout the court case, Alice begins to openly announce her thoughts to the courtroom. She criticizes the queen s decision to make the sentence before the verdict, Stuff and nonsense! The idea of having the sentence first! (146). It is thought that the Queen of Hearts actually symbolizes a real queen of England. Queen Margaret of Anjou ruled from 1445 to 1461, and then again from 1470 to 1471. She was married to King Henry VII and she had a son named Edward. She fought for the house of Lancaster which has a red rose for its family name (Margaret). This does connect to the Queen of Hearts when her servants had to paint the roses red. Why, the fact is, you see, Miss, this here ought to have been a red rose tree, and we put a white one in by mistake; and, it the Queen was to find it out, we should all have our heads cut off, you know. This chapter claims that character s deaths are important plot devices. Foster made a great point of saying how readers become emotionally attached to characters in books. He makes to point that characters aren t real people. They re not people because they have never existed. I mean, have you ever met one on the street? Characters are simply an outline made by the author and the reader coloring in that outline to make the character what they want it to be. Foster also pushed the point across that the main character can t ever die in the beginning or middle of the book. If the main character dies, what s the point of the book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And Other Ironies . This chapter s claim is Irony trumps everything. What Foster means by this is that trumping everything, irony doesn t eliminate other layers of meaning. Rather, irony relies on these other layers of meaning: symbolic, archetypal, intertextual, or otherwise and then overthrows them by converting them into the ironic mode. In Animal Farm a lot of dramatic irony takes place. The animals think that they remember Major s words that had become the Seven Commandments, but their illiteracy causes them to be unsure. The animals never had to deal with human beings, never had to engage in trade, and they never had to make use of money. All the animals remembered passing such resolutions (or at least they thought they did.) The reader doesn t forget what the original rules were and even if that happened they could go back in the story and look for themselves, while the animals in the book couldn t. The animal s forgetfulness is an example of dramatic irony. Dramatic irony gives the reader information that one or more of the characters does not know, thereby, creating incongruous dialogue. Illiteracy becomes a problem for the animals again when they cheerfully bid Boxer, the hardworking horse, goodbye, thinking that he is going to a veterinary hospital for treatment. There is a simile in line 7 And are up gathered now like sleeping flowers. Finally, there are two allusions to greek gods in lines 13 and 14, Proteus and Triton respectively. In comparing and contrasting the societies of Periclean Athens and ancient Egypt, we must first mention some of the characteristics of an actual society: a society has social levels and classes, a governmental system, and a developed culture. Both of these societies fit into these parameters. In this essay we will explore social classes, gender relations, social inequality, and hierarchy as they apply to these societies. Both ancient Athens and Egypt adhered to a strict hierarchical framework, ranking people as superiors or inferiors. Old Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is described as having the king and queen at the top, with priests, administrators, governors and army commanders coming second, then the commoners who worked mostly in agriculture, and finally, slaves, who had been captured in war. (Hunt, pg. 22). According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was structured as such: the Pharaoh came first, and was believed to be God on earth. Next came the Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief advisor. Nobles were next in the hierarchy, and made local laws. Priests followed, and were responsible for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they were the only ones who could read or write, so they were the record keepers. We know what has happened between them but the rest of the characters, except for Elizabeth, are still oblivious. Not only Abigail is lying about this, but also John Proctor for the sake of his reputation in town. A third instance of dramatic irony is the situation with the needle in the doll. With this, it was Abigail ´s goal to get Elizabeth Proctor accused of witchcraft. Mary Warren made this doll when Abigail was sitting next to her. She left the needle inside. Mary gave the doll to Elizabeth as a gift. Abigail knew the needle was in the doll, so she stabbed herself in the stomach with a needle. With this she made the people believe Elizabeth used Voodoo on her and therefore used witchcraft. The audience knows this is not true and that Abigail is a false and lying girl. Willis s The Culture of Beauty, argues this point by saying The Media distract women from focusing on what bodies do... dressing up, dressing down or sculpting our bodies in pursuit of a profile the we d be happy to avoid dressing altogether. They print lessons available to male readers regarding what s desirable and ideal when it comes to the sizes and shapes of women s body parts (106 107). • 29. Deaf People Disability Do Deaf people have a disability? What is the difference between Deaf and deaf ? A disability can be defined as a limitation of function because of an impairment (Lane, 2008, p. 277). To some, deaf people [seem] limited in some functions because of an impairment of hearing (Lane, 2008, p. 277). However, this determination of disability has arisen from norms and the technologies of normalization (Lane, 2008, p. 279) by the hearing and otherwise able bodied world. To the hearing world, Deaf people lack the ability to hear; a sense which so many of us hearing people depend on. In actuality, the only reason Deaf people seem to suffer is because we, the hearing majority, have placed our own beliefs and values on them. By labeling Deaf people as disabled, we are guilty of audism and ableism, as we [insist] that inherent biological factors determine individual traits and capacity (Lane, 2008, p. 282), and assume their life is lacking because they either cannot hear or cannot hear as well as we think they should. If we were to change our mentality about accessibility, about human rights, and about individuality, it would seem clear that the only reason Deaf people are limited in any way is because the majority makes so much revolve around the importance of hearing, and dismiss the reality that ... • 30. Resilience In The Movie Unbroken The article, Unbroken: what makes some people more resilient than others, uses the example of Louis Zamperini as shown in the movie, Unbroken, to examine the role of resilience in the ability to recover after a traumatic event. Written by David Cox for The Guardian, the article discusses current research on resilience, and explains how it can be used to treat post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Many people experience a severe trauma in their lives, but only a few go on to develop PTSD. For a long time, the focus has been on what makes people more susceptible to developing PTSD. A newer approach to studying stress disorders, as the article establishes, is the study of resilience. Using the example of Louis Zamperini, the article describes an interdisciplinary approach to studying resilience including biological, social, and lifestyle factors. The article begins by introducing the story of Louis Zamperini. Zamperini was an Olympic runner that underwent a series of extraordinary circumstances. He was a member of the American Air Force in World War II when his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Zamperini was stranded in a tiny life raft for forty seven days before being captured by the Japanese. He then spent two years in Japanese concentration camps as a prisoner of war, enduring harsh punishment before being released. Cox explains that after this severe physical and physiological trauma, Zamperini was able to eventually forge past this and become a spokesman of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Red Lobster Research Paper We all love dining out for good food and laughter with our family, friends or significant other. Whether it s a birthday, an anniversary or a casual night on the town, eating at the right restaurant, that offer good food, great price and a fine dining experience is dependent on the restaurant you choose. That s what made Red lobster my favorite. it is not just a night of eating out, it is an experience. Not only do they have some of the most succulent crab legs there is, or because they have the best appetizer which is their signature Cheddar Bay biscuits, but because of the ambience that you are greeted with when you approached to dine in a Red Lobster restaurant. The ambience of the restaurant seeks to replicate the ocean. The design evokes an atmosphere of relaxation at a seaside retreat such as cascading water filled lobster tanks and brightly painted fish sculptures, also huge decoration of lobster on the walls, which give me a beach like feeling along with beach blue seats which give you the feel of the blue ocean. • 32. Descriptive Essay On Myrtle Beach Myrtle Beach, South Carolina attracts about 14 million visitors per year because of its warm weather, beaches, and activities. During the summer of 2015, my brother, Ryan and I traveled to Fayetteville, North Carolina to visit my cousin, Julian, aunt, Heather, and uncle, Rich. As they have a condo in Myrtle Beach, Heather wanted to take us there. Julian was going to go along too, but Rich had to work at his dental office so he couldn t make it. After spending about three days in Fayetteville, it was finally time to take the drive to their condo. On the way there, we first had to stop at the local Starbucks since it is a daily ritual of my aunts. While sipping our Starbucks we drove through several rundown cities and ended up seeing a large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Boardwalk is similar to a fair on the ocean. It has several shops and restaurants along the area s borders. It also had games and rides. Before shopping we went to a fancy seafood restaurant where we had lobster, crab legs, salad, bread, and pasta. When we finished with the meal, we began our adventure along Boardwalk. We stopped in many shops but what caught my eye was a boat in the center of the Boardwalk doing fast turns and tricks. We found out that people can ride on them, so naturally, us kids wanted to ride on them. We found the ticket booth, bought our ticket and waited for our ride. The ride was full of adrenaline. It actually felt like a rollercoaster and that you were going to be launched out. Nonetheless, I would do it again. We returned to our condo to sleep after some shopping, eating, and lots of walking. The next morning we were to head back to Fayetteville . Before officially leaving, we stopped to get wings for lunch. • 33. Color Symbolism In The Great Gatsby Gatsby has connections with many colors that assist in portraying a more extensive breakdown of his character. The colors I feel correspond with Gatsby in the most comprehensive way are blue, green, and yellow. Interpreting his hopefulness, naiveness, and ambition into colors showed Fitzgerald s aspiration for the reader to envision the bigger picture. While people may see the colors in different ways, the general idea stays prominent. Blue helps convey Gatsby s deep loneliness and illusions of how life becomes for him. In his blue gardens men and girls came and went. (Page 41). Attempting to create his own fantasy, he throws parties to mask his true inner loneliness and want for Daisy. Never attending the parties himself shows he has no desire to connect with the other rich people, but needs something to fill the gaping space he has set aside for her. A large, blue lawn separates them and mocks him at the end of his dock. In a sense, he has created a large barrier separating him from reality which shows with his denial of change and feel he can start things where they left off. ... Conveying the sense the dream is just an illusion, it all crumbles down, leaving him with nothing to hold on to. The name of the place of worship that I attended was Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica which is located at 385 Sussex Dr, Ottawa, ON K1N 1J9. I attended the Sunday mass on the 2nd of October 2015 at 12:00pm. Building: The cathedral was built entirely out of grey stone bricks and had two tall steeples on each side of the cathedral s entrance. The steeples were coated with a shiny silvery white metal and had bells inside of each steeple that rings at the beginning of mass in the cathedral. At the same time, a procession started to walk through the middle aisle and towards the altar. The procession was lead by the crucifix holder in front and the altar servers were carrying candles and Father Michael Hartney was walking behind them. Once the procession reached the altar, the crucifix holder and the altar servers were dismissed. Then Father Michael began the service by welcoming the people attending the service, pointing out that the choir director had served the cathedral for 25 years, and saying a prayer which the congregation repeated after him. Then the organ music started playing again, and the choir started the singing along with the congregation. After which, Father Michael said a prayer and everyone sat down. The influence this design has had from 2000 years ago, on our modern day designs is shown in the follow extracts. We will also look at how the design and architecture of the pantheon had an influence on the buildings that were built at a later stage through time. The Pantheon is a circular building with a portico of large granite columns after 2000 years the dome of the pantheon is still the world s largest unreinforced concrete dome which caused that many builders and architects studied the dome to reconstruct and build buildings with the same techniques. • 36. Optimization For The Design Of Load Frequency Control PSO OPTIMIZED FLC FOR THE DESIGN OF LOAD FREQUENCY CONTROL M. MAHAMMED JABEER Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Electronics Engineering, AVR SVR Engineering College, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. Abstract: Load frequency control problem is considered as one of the most important issues in the design operation of power systems. Due to lack of good efficiency in parameters variation conditions, working conditions of system and non linear factors, a simple PI controller is not suitable in industrial applications. Instead, fuzzy controllers can be used in order to enhance the performances of the systems. In this paper, the use of the optimized type 1 fuzzy logic controller using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed to solve the load frequency control problem. To the best of our knowledge, the PSO optimization of fuzzy type 1 controller in order to solve load frequency control problem, has not been investigated so far. The proposed controller has good performance and is capable to solve the load frequency control problem in conditions of wide variations of system parameters and nonlinear factors such as generation rate constraint. Simulation results show that the optimized fuzzy controller proposed in this paper exhibits better performance compared to PI controller in damping of system deviations. Key words: power system, load frequency control, type 1 fuzzy logic controller, PSO algorithm. 1. Introduction The main aim of power systems is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
