- 2. What is research and planning? • Research and planning is the process where you analyse certain things to help you make the product your aiming for. It allows you to better your knowledge and understanding of the product you want to make, For example if you want to make a horror trailer you need to analyse horror trailers to realise what camera angles, sound, Mise-en-scene and editing is taking place, the horror movies on the market today are successful and it will help you understand what the target audience are looking for in a horror movie. If you analyse a certain amount of trailers you will be able to pick out the things which are repetitive and are commonly used etc. Without research you will not know what the target audience specifically likes and without planning your are likely to not have an as successful product you may rush straight into something without planning you could end up leaving things out and ruining the whole product.
- 3. What research and planning stages are needed to make a Horror film? When making a horror film the research and planning stages are a crucial part to making the film process. You will need to watch and analyse a couple of horror scenes/films to help you understand the meaning of the horror genre and to which is the essential parts and techniques you need to use when it comes to making your own horror film. Brainstorm a variety of ideas for your horror film and make a questionnaire, give it to a variety of people of different ages and genders see what the public would want to see to help you expand on your ideas. You need to think of the plot and scenery you cant film in a holiday park on the beach as its not going to be a scary as somewhere like the forest, abandoned houses etc. You need to plan different sounds and techniques to use as different camera angles all have a different meaning for example more power. Once the film is made it needs to be edited therefore you need to research which is commonly used in horror films and what is popular a popular choice to edit.
