The Impact Of Brexit And Some Solutions Resolve These Issues
Negative impact of Brexit and some solutions resolve these issues
Brexit is the name of the process of Britain leaving the European Union, which is the primary
concern of the modern global political situation. During the referendum on the UK membership in
the European Union, the main argument for leaving the union was that it would provide the
country with better system and tools of protection from the immigrants. UK citizen was concerned
that immigrants would bring to the country s unemployment rate, lower quality of life and other
economic problems. The statistics say that almost seventy percent of the immigrants from the EU
came to Britain because of work related reasons or to study ( ONS , 2016 ).The purpose of the
this essay will analysis negative impact of Brexit on economic Britain and find some solutions
resolve these issues.
Trade:
The first and the most unfavorable outcome of Brexit is that the UK would lose the trading
agreements with its largest trading partner European Union. The membership in this organization
meant the decline of the transaction costs and fees on trading operations between the members of
the union. In fact, European Union members have the free trade agreement, which means the free
flow of goods and services between the countries. According to BBC (2016) Britain has the
negative trading balance with the rest of the EU, which means that it exports more

How Did Ww1 Impact Australian Society
The Gallipoli campaign impacted Australian society in many ways. This includes; the great loss of
young men, changes in traditional women s roles in the community and how Australia was
recognised as a worthy country by Britain and other parts of the world. World War 1, otherwise
known as the Great War, began on the 28th of July 1914 and continued until the 11th of November
1918. Countries such as Germany, Austria Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire battled
against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States. When the war
was over, the Allied Powers claimed their victory.
World War 1, also known as The war to end all wars or The Great war was an international conflict
between several countries. It all began when Archduke Franz Ferdinand, nephew of Emperor Franz
Josef and heir to the Austro Hungarian Empire, was assassinated on the 28th of June 1914
alongside his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg. After the incident, the outbreak of World War 1
sparked and impacted various countries, including Australia, significantly. ... Show more content on

Party leader, Andrew Fisher and Prime Minister Joseph Cook pledged Australian support to

Several volunteers hurried to recruit for the war, which was expected to be finished before
Christmas. At that time, Australia s population was under 5 million people, over 416 809 men

Sunshine And Light In The Scarlett Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel The Scarlett Letter is a satire based around a Puritan culture
published in the 1850 s. The novel is based around Hester Prynne, who commits adultery against
her husband Roger Chillingworth. Hester s sin causes her daughter Pearl and her to be treated
wrongly by the Puritans. The Puritans are ruthless and harsh towards sinners such as Hester Prynne,
unlike the natural world which is merciful and kind. The novel tells a story of characters trying
to find their way into the sympathetic light or lose their way into the deep despair of darkness.
Hawthorne uses sunshine or light as an element of forgiveness and innocence, while using the
darkness to symbolize the evil. The contradiction between the light and darkness can be depicted
between Pearl who is favored by the sunshine, Hester who is later favored, and Chillingworth who
is enveloped by the evil darkness. Hawthorne s use of sunshine to favor Pearl presents the
understanding that Pearl is innocent and pure. Pearl was brought into the world out of sin and the
Puritans view her as a child from the devil. The use of sunshine and light to Pearl s favor
contradicts these assumptions made by the judgmental Puritans. Supported in the text by Hester
telling Pearl to acquire her own sunshine, No my little Pearl! Said her mother. Thou must gather
thine own sunshine. I have none to give thee! (Hawthorne 96) The text from the novel supports
Hawthorne s use of sunshine to favor Pearl because her mother

Engineering Disasters/Utilitarianism Paper One of the most controversial topics in the field of
renewable energy is nuclear energy. In nineteen eighty six, the Chernobyl power plant in modern
day Ukraine (formerly the USSR) had a major, level seven meltdown. A level seven nuclear
disaster is the highest disaster possible in regards to nuclear event. This meltdown caused billions
of tons of radioactive material to fly into the air that spread all across Europe (Xiang, Zhu). The
most recent major nuclear accident happened in two thousand eleven, in Fukushima, Japan. The
nuclear disaster in Fukushima occurred at fourteen forty six, Japanese time. The disaster occurred
because a major magnitude nine earthquake struck North Eastern Japan and a fifteen meter high
tsunami also struck the power plant (Grimston). There were eleven overall reactors that were
effected by the earthquake and tsunami. Nine of the reactors cooling systems continued to work
after the natural disasters occurred, but reactors one, two and three of the Fukushima Daiichi plant
were terribly damaged and could not cool down the fission process. This is what lead to the one,
two and three reactors to melt, causing the most detrimental damage to the global community
(Grimston). Critics of the disasters say that Daiichi was not up to global nuclear safety standards
because the wall the protected the plant was only stable against six meter tall tsunami waves, not

The Life and Work of Ernest Rughterford
All science is either physics or stamp collecting . Ernest Rutherford was born on August 30th in
1871 with an umbilical hernia(that later killed him). He was the fourth child of twelve and the
second son of seven boys and five girls. He started school when he was ten because his family
was so poor. Later he got into good schools and became a great teacher. He won multiple awards
for his chemistry experiments because he was the first person to artificially break an element. I
chose Ernest Rutherford because he found out lots of things about science and he is a very
interesting man. He found out that atoms are not independent; they are controlled by something
else, a nucleus. Also he split an atomin 1917 discovering that atoms are made up of more than one
part. The element Rutherfordium was named in his honor. Since money was tight, Rutherford
found good ways of overcoming his family s money challenges, By making family friendly
inventions. At the age of ten, Rutherford was handed his first science book at Fox Hill School. It
was a great experience for Rutherford, that the book inspired his very first scientific experiment.
The young Rutherford built a miniature cannon, which, to his family s surprise, unexpectedly
exploded. After the result, Rutherford s interest in academics remained weak.
When Ernest was growing up in New Zealand his family was very poor. His father, James, was
struggling to support the big family on a flax miller salary. He was also a

My Canoeing Journey
I was never sure I can make it this far I had the knowledge and the drive, then I finally got my
Breakthrough in life. I always wanted to go to college becauses I knew the endless possibilities
that can happen in my life and my family. When I was given an opportunity to increase my chances
at making collegeI waste a second to take my chance and looking back on 3 summers I made the
right decision. Through reflecting on my times as breakthrough student, I learned that my biggest
area of growth have been dealing with challenges, working with discomfort, and discovering new
concepts.
A large area of growth I ve experienced as a breakthrough student has been dealing with challenges.
The most challenging part of the BLP retreat was the canoeing trip. This required patience, strength,
and persistence to make to and from our destination. Through paddling I have gotten move arm
strength, but most importantly I fought the struggle and made it to the island. All in all I used the
persist code battle the tiring activity called canoeing. It has taught me to work through difficult task,
no matter how much I want to quit. Although I had to push myself canoeing helped me expand on
my persistence to real world situation.
Another area of growth I ve experienced is public speaking. The most important thing we worked
on at Breakthrough was using your voice. This required confidence and the ability to be calm to be
understood by everyone . Through my 3 years of breakthrough, I have gotten

Reflection on Domestic Violence s Intersection with Various Social Problems
PennyWise is a resale store affiliated with the Fort Bend Women s Center in Sugar Land, TX. This
organization works to advocate and provide resources for women and children who are victims of
domestic abuse. Their mission statement is:
The Fort Bend Women s Center empowers survivors of domestic or sexual violence and their
children to achieve safety, heal and begin a new independent and self sufficient life, while also
striving to prevent violence against women (Fort Bend).
Volunteers for the Fort Bend Women s Center fulfill a number of roles in their retail store,
PennyWise. In my service, I worked to help the staff organize and sort the various donations that
they received that were inundating their warehouse. Working with PennyWise exposed me to an
entirely different perspective than I was previously familiar with as I have always been insulated
away from people in such a situation. I found that the employees, women who were victims of
domestic violence trying to get back on their feet again, faced an array social problems that
severely affected every aspect of their lives. Several of the most notable social problems that I
observed intersecting with domestic violence were poverty/class inequality, gender, and race.
Poverty/class inequality is the social problem that characterizes the disproportionate

Meditation Session At The Vajradhara Buddhist Center
I am very excited about this field experience. It has been the one I have been looking forward to
all semester. I chose to attend an Introduction to Meditation session at the Vajradhara Buddhist
Center. I chose this for my Religious Service because I have always wondered what the teachings
of Buddhism are. The Vajradhara Center offers these introduction sessions every Wednesday at 7
p.m. I went to the Week 1 session on November 4th, the first Wednesday of the month. I found out
about this session just by googling Buddhist centers Charlotte, NC . This center has many great
reviews on various websites, so I thought it was a great fit. About to have the experience of going
to a Buddhist Center, I think I am really expecting to enjoy this session, mostly because I have
always been intrigued by the teachings and morals of Buddha and how they can be achieved
through meditation. I have grown up non religious, which I think makes this experience more
interesting because I have nothing to compare it to. I expect this session to be sort of intimidating
at first because it is a new experience. I also believe that I will not be very comfortable, at first,
while meditating. Through research, I hope to find out ways to adjust and to fully understand why
meditation is important in Buddhism. Most importantly, I am excited to attend this session.
Background Research

Propaganda In Rwanda
Rwanda is a located in Central Africa and is made up of mostly two groups, the Tutsis and the
Hutus ( Rwanda Genocide Facts 1). Twenty three years ago, the Rwandan people were forever
changed. For exactly one hundred days, the Hutus tried to eliminate all of the Tutsis that occupied
Rwanda (Coleman 3). However, this display of gruesome acts was not random but was caused by
years of hate, separation, and tension between the Tutsis and the Hutus.
The turmoil started in 1916 when Belgians produced identity cards classifying people according to
their ethnicity ( Rwandan Genocide Facts 1). Since the Belgians considered the Tutsis to be
superior, the Tutsis embraced this idea and enjoyed better opportunities than the Hutus for a number

Afterward, there was between 300,000 to 400,000 survivors left ( Genocide Facts 1). However,
seventy percent of the Tutsis in Rwanda had already been murdered and a total of twenty percent
of the population was wiped out ( Rwandan Genocide Facts 1 2 ). Furthermore, 75,000 orphans
and 50,000 widows were left behind ( Genocide Facts 1). On top of that, the genocide is still
affecting people today because over half the children have stopped going to school and 40,000
people are homeless (1). Fortunately, after the genocide, many prominent figures in the
international community lamented the outside world s general obliviousness to the situation and
its failure to act in order to prevent the atrocities from taking place ( The Rwandan Genocide 2).

My Husband Works For A Freight Company
Workplace Ethics My husband works for a freight company that handles many different types of
shipments including large item delivery to residential customers of various online, as well as,
commercial freight delivery. The company s policy on returns, refusals, and damaged items is
to do whatever the shipper dictates. Some items are so large that it is not cost efficient to return
them to the shipper or corporate, such as, kayaks, patio furniture sets, or custom vanity cabinets.
In these instances, the directive is often to destroy and dispose of it or give it to charity. Many
perfectly good items end up in the trash because of this but some items magically disappear
from the dumpster as well. Recently, a case of tea and a Keurig, were the topic of discussion. A
clerk received an order to destroy the tea and dispose of it, she had the terminal manager sign off
on it and claimed to put it in the dumpster. Both managers later became aware that the tea had
disappeared and was not in the dumpster. The next day, an order came in to dispose of a Keurig
that was being held. When the same clerk saw the order, she asked where it was. She was told it
had already been put in the dumpster and immediately went to check it. She returned and stated that
it wasn t in there. One of the managers, suspecting that she was looking to take it and had taken the
tea the previous day, replied yes, it is...right next to the tea . In actuality, the Keurig had been used

Firewalls will be placed between the web servers and the outer edge of the network, facing the
Internet. Such a configuration, called a demilitarized zone (DMZ), will provide an additional
layer of defense from a network breach. If the web servers are compromised, there will be an
additional barrier between them and the intranet. The firewalls will be configured to deny
everything, and then the ports that are needed for the functioning of the network will be
allowed. For the sake of expense and administrative simplicity, the firewall will be a stateful
packet filter firewall, as opposed to an application proxy firewall, which would offer higher
security and configurability at the expense of administrative complexity due to the need for a
proxy for each application in use by the company. The packet filtering firewall filters traffic
based on predefined rules. A network based IDS will be used on all network subnets and the
system will be anomaly based. An anomaly based IDS is preferable for its ability to detect zero
day attacks. With a signature based IDS, the system uses a set of definitions to detect threats and the
definitions must be updated on a regular and ongoing schedule. The system will be passive in its
functioning, in that it will not stop threats that it detects. Rather the IDS will send notifications to
the IT staff that are tasked with the security of the network. The IT staff will then

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Contract Theory
In the Elements of Moral Philosophy, written by James Rachels, the theory of Social Contract
Theory is defined as the set of rules, governing behaviors, that rational people will accept, on the
condition that others accept them as well (Rachels EMP 85). The author describes that the theory
aims to explain the purpose of both moralityand government within a society. Rachels states that
the purpose of morality is to make social living possible; the purpose of government is to enforce
vital moral rules (Rachels EMP 85). In essence, social contracttheory dictates an implicit set of
rules by which a specific society is governed. The set of rules lays the framework for what will be
considered moral or not within the society. The goal of this essay is to objectively analyze the
strengths and weaknesses of the social contract theory, and describe how they impact the world.
Ultimately, even though the text provides concerns regarding the disadvantages of the contract, the
contract still exists today and thus can be successful despite the author s criticism. Social contract
theory promotes the existence of social order and provides the foundation for morality (Rachels
EMP 82). Even though that there exists a strong inclination for the emergence of anarchy without a
common source of morality, philosophers like Hobbes, believe that the enticement is built into
society by humanity existing among each other. The need inherently exists for humanity to form
some sort of accord to

The History of Windows
Ever since the invention of the micro computer, there has been a definitive war between companies
competing for their share of the professional and private computer market. There have been
hundreds of operating systems produced over the years, most of them were not able to maintain a
solid customer base, and became extinct. There are a few, however, that have eclipsed the computer
world. There is a definite line between consumers for the three most popular operating systems,
UNIX, Macintosh, and Windows. Microsoft, who produced Windows, gained wide public support

This version was the last to boast 100% backward compatibility with older windows applications.
It was based on the new Intel 386 processor, which greatly improved speed and reliability. This
version of Windows also first implemented the use of third party device drivers, allowing for
more focus on writing applications rather than device drivers. Graphical upgrades included the
icon based file manager and program manager, making access to data much easier. The addition
of the well known card game solitaire also made its debut in the 3.0 version of Windows.
Another big leap for Windows 3.x was that it could run in three different memory modes
(Windows Products and Technologies History, 2006). Real mode s only use was for the running
of applications built for Windows 2.x. Standard mode was the most common running mode, as it
was most compatible with the 286 processor and 1 MB of memory that were in most computers
at that time. The last was 386 Enhanced Mode, implemented with all the benefits of standard
mode, plus 32 bit addressing and paging for faster memory access. In 386 Enhanced mode, the
user could run several MS DOS based programs, each in their own window, at the same time.
Third party programming support for the 3.0 version exploded, and application companies all
over the world were developing programs compatible with Windows 3.0. In the first year of its
release, version 3.0 sold

Mongol Influence On Russia
The unification of the Mongol tribes by Chinggis Khan resulted in a powerful army and a series of
military campaigns that constructed the Mongol Empire. The Mongol Empire, lasting from the
13th to the 14th centuries, exerted considerable political, social, and economic influence on
conquered regions such as Eastern Asia and Russia. For example, as a result of the Mongols
revitalizing long distance trade networks such as the Silk Road, both China and Russia experienced
the exchange of cultures, technologies, and diseases. However, Mongol influence on China quickly
diminished after the collapse of the Mongol Empire whereas the influence of Mongol expansion on
Russia was more consequential and far reaching albeit inadvertently. The Mongol Empire... Show

After Mongol rule over China ended in 1368 CE by rebel forces, the renewal of Confucian values
and a patriarchal social structure in the following Ming Dynasty signifies the refusal by the native
Chinese to assimilate Mongol practices into their native culture. This adamant refusal can be
attributed to discrimination against the Chinese in Mongol law and conflicting ideologies
concerning the role of women and the social status of merchants and artisans. On the other hand,
the impact of Mongol expansion to Russia continued to be influential even after the collapse of the
Mongol Empire. Linguistically, амбар in Russian and амбаар in Mongolian both
translate to barn. Overall, there are thousands of borrowed words, phrases, and other
characteristics from the Mongol and Turkic language that are featured in the Russian language
because of interactions between the two during the Mongol Empire. Moreover, the Golden Horde
s occupation of Eastern Europe inadvertently resulted in the unification and strengthening of
Russia. Prior to Mongol rule, Russia was divided into city states ruled by various independent
princes. A weak economy and the lack of a strong centralized power made it easy for the Mongols
to conquer Russia. However, under Mongol rule, princes attained wealth through siphoning off
taxes as tribute collectors and learned to centralize their power from the Mongols while the
Orthodox Church was able to flourish and rise as a unifying force through tax exemptions. The
Russian state found strength in a common religion and in an allegiance towards a grand prince
later called the Tsar; overthrowing the Mongols. The reason between these differences in China
and Russia is due to different methods of administration. China was mostly governed by foreign
officials, only Mongols were allowed to hold high posts, and the Chinese held little

Social Media And Its Impact On Society
For many of us, social media has become an important way to keep up with what is going on
with our families as well as what is happening in the world around us. In the past ten years, social
media has also become a major staple in marketing for businesses because there has been a
whirlwind of development. In 2006, Facebook was opened to the public and Twitter was launched.
Not long after, Facebook surpassed MySpaces user count and Barack Obamabecame out first Social
Media President. In 2010, Twitter launched the ability to postsponsored tweets, with Instagram
following in 2013.
We often view social media as just a place to do social networking, but for businesses it is a much
different animal. Facebook became an avenue for new user engagement tactics by companies
looking to expand their customer base. (What We Learned About Marketing in the Last Decade of
Social Media Evolution , n.d) Marketing is key to any business s success. With the greater use of
mobile technology (cell phones and tablets), businesses had to be able to adapt their advertising to
display on mobile devices.
While anyone can use social media in relation to their business, there is a certain protocol that
should be followed. Businesses should not limit themselves to posting promotional content only.
This can lead to the downfall of their social media presence. Consumers want engagement that goes
beyond promotional information. Another important aspect of successful social media engagement

What Is The Similarities Between Hamlet And King Lear
Shakespeare s Hamlet and King Lear are not only exhibitions of human experience but also studies
in the spiritual life of man. Through these two plays Shakespeare has elaborately attempted to get
a meaning out of life, and not to show its mystery or madness despite the fact that madness as
simulation has been a source of fascination in these two tragedies. In Shakespeare s Madness and
Music, Kendra Preston Leonard says that Hamletand King Learultimately focus on crises of family

provided are charter schools. These schools are tuition free state funded public schools, made by
legislation in 1994, that contract with the State Board of Education and the State Board for Charter
Schools (Arizona Department of Education, 2016). Some charter schools in Pima County include
La Paloma Academy (KG 8th), Lifelong Learning Academy (KG 8th), and Nosotros Academy (KG
12th). Next, there is the private school option which is a school that is supported by the care taker
of the child through tuition. Some private schools include Casas Christian School (KG 8th), Desert
Christian High School (9th 12th), and Faith Community Academy (PK 6th). Most of the private
schools in the Pima County are Christian faith based schools. Also, there is the fourth category,
homeschooling. To have the ability to homeschool a child, there are many laws and requirements
that need to be followed. In general, homeschooling is nonpublic school ran by the parent, guardian,
a person in custody of the child, or by instruction from one of these three (Pima County School
Superintendent, 2014a). An Affidavit of Intent that articulates the child is being homeschooled
must be filed with the county school superintendent and have the child s name, birth certificate,
address that it will take place, etc. (Pima County School Superintendent, 2014a). Along with these
things, the parents doing the homeschooling are accountable for their curriculum but must teach the
child the subjects of math, reading, grammar, science, and social studies (Pima County School
Superintendent, 2014a). As for the diplomas and certificates,

Abstract: Mark Twain, a mastermind of humor and realism, is seen as a giant in world literature.
His humorous satire had great impact on the following men of letters; critics also attached
significant importance to it and put forward various interpretations. Noticeably, his humorвЃѓ ous
satire finds full expression in his famous short story, Running for Governor. In it, with humor and
satire, he exposed the true features and hypocrisy of American democracy. The paper tries to

Twain owes it to himself, as well as to the great people whose suffrages he asks, to clear this
matter up. Will he do it? These three words the great people are full of localism, also with humor

effect, and his sentence structures are simple such as will he do it , but humorously satiвЃѓ rize

His humor is not only of witty remarks mocking at small things or of farcical elements making
people laugh, but a kind of artistic style used to criticize the social injustice and satirize the decayed
romanticism. 3 Influences of Mark Twain s Humorous Satire
Twain s works, both in content and form, with more American characteristics, demonstrate
Americans thoughts and feelings and reflect the manifold movements of American society by using
their own language and telling their own stories. Twain s life is difficult, but he wrote a large
number of literary works. From the spiritually empty and nothing to do people, to the unscrupulous
politicians,

Prenatal Contraception And Prenatal Care Essay
The risk of maternal and infant mortality can be significantly reduced by increasing access to early
and adequate prenatal care (Chapman Durham, 2010). The prenatal period provides an opportunity
to make positive changes in all aspects of a women s health status and health maintenance
behaviors. Early and adequate prenatal care provides the opportunity to identify significant risks to
the pregnant women, and develop interventions to reduce or eliminate potential complications
(Chapman Durham, 2010).
Prenatal care encompasses the health care services provided to a women, from the time the women
becomes pregnant until birth. Prenatal care consists of three major components, risk assessment,
treatment of existing medical conditions and/or risk reduction, and patient education (Chapman
Durham, 2010). Current guidelines established by the American College of Obstetrician and
Gynecologists, regarding prenatal care for a low risk, expected full term pregnancy, include at least
thirteen prenatal visits (ACOG, 2016). Recommendations suggest one visit per month for the first
28 weeks of pregnancy, bi monthly during 29 36 weeks and then every week until birth (ACOG,
2016). Evidence based practices emphasize the importance of receiving both early prenatal care,
beginning in the first trimester as well as adequate prenatal care, encompassing all perinatal
education and guidance (ACOG, 2016).

Harvey Milk Thesis Statement
Due to the increasingly negative view of homosexuality in the late 1970 s and early 1980 s, the
LGBTQ community was facing a world altering decision; they could either shrink into the
background, and allow the world to continue to draw its opinions based on speculation, or claim
the spotlight and allow themselves to be judged based on their own merit. Harvey Milk, the first
openly gay elected official in the United States (Hope Speech, Commentary) saw a need for an
uprising of the latter. When addressing a crowd of his supporters and the Lesbian, Gay, Bi
Sexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) people in The Hope Speech at San Francisco City Hall
on Gay Freedom Day in 1978, Harvey Milk uses the I You/Us Them relationships as defined by
Martin Buber, pathos appeals, and shared experiences to establish an emotional bond with the
LGBTQ community. This relationship of comradery and mentorship, deeply rooted in shared
values, best prepared the crowd to absorb his message of activism and hope. Harvey Milk,
though he had known since high school that he was gay (Biography), was initially outwardly
ambivalent to legislation passed against the LGBTQ community. This all changed after he
befriended a group of gay radicals in his mid forties. They propelled him into the politically
charged world of activism, in which he developed his voice, and stood out as a leader in the
LGBTQ community. Milk stood on the steps of the San Francisco s City Hall to celebrate Gay
Freedom, but also to

Common Goods Testing
Introduction In the story of the Sole Remaining Supplier, a company who supplied pacemaker
equipment was debating on whether or not they should continue due to numerous ethical issues.
The company, also the sole remaining suppliers, felt that they should discontinue selling
equipment because if the product stopped working, it could lead to major lawsuits and they did
not want to deal with these ethical issues. In this paper, I will apply steps A through D of the
Utility Test to this case and I will also apply the Common Good Test to this case as well. After
comparing and contrasting the Utility Test with the Common Good Test, I will then determine
which test is the most informative in terms of my evaluation of the case.
Utility Test ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, the alternative that maximizes good for this and future situations is the decision to
continue distributing/producing the product, but making sure that it is a great product. Finally,
Step D is to draw a conclusion. Since I have come to the same conclusion that it would be
beneficial to continue selling the transistors to the pacemaker company for the good of the their
organization and its customers, it is safe to say that this is an ethical action because it will produce
the most good rather than harm in the future.
Common Goods Test The Common Goods test involves being able to live together in a community
and requires that we pay attention not just to our individual goods but also to the common
conditions that are important to the welfare of us all. This common good includes the social
systems, institutions, natural and technological environments, and ways of understanding that we
all depend on to pursue our individual goods (Hamilton, 2009). Step A of this test ask the question,
are we doing our part to look out for the common good of the situation. What exactly is the common
good? The contemporary ethicist, John Rawls, defined the common good as certain general
conditions that are...equally to everyone s advantage (Velasquez, Andre, Shanks amp; Meyer,
1992). In the Sole Remaining Supplier case, the supplier company had to make a decision to either

King Solomon Chapter 1
The first sixteen chapters of 2 Chronicles open with the feats of King Solomon, the figure who
dominates the first nine chapters of the reading. The narrative starts off with Solomon already
firmly established, not accounting the struggle it took him to get to this position of favor. This
favor is consummated in chapter 1 when the Lord accepts Solomon s offerings and grants his
request for wisdom. This wisdom results in even more favor as chapter one ends by summarizing
the material wealth the kingdom accumulates. The second chapter immediately dives into Solomon
s preparations to build the Temple by accounting how many people were involved in the work and
how a treaty was formed with the king of Tyre for assistance. Chapter Three describes... Show more

Chapter ten begins with the revolt of Rehoboam s reign. Israel rebels against the house of David
when Rehoboam chooses to disregard the elders who had served Solomon and instead enforces a
stricter rule on the people. Although the split between Israel and Judah is not explicitly made
official, chapter 11 foreshadows the split as it profiles the emergence of a rival leader in the form
of Jeroboam. The chapter talks about how Rehoboam gains power through building up his family
and building up cities in preparation for fighting against the rest of Israel. Rehoboam abandons
the law of the Lord and is attacked by the king of Egypt. God had originally intended to use
Egypt to completely destroy Israel, but since the people humbled themselves, Egypt took the
treasures in the Temple and subjected the people to servanthood. Rehoboam continued to reign
and faced continual warfare with Jeroboam, the king of Israel. Chapter 13 talks about how his
son Abijah succeeded him as the king of Judah. Abijah inherited the animosity with Jeroboam as
chapter 13 narrates a fierce battle in which Abijah wins because Judah cried out to the Lord.
Judah saw a time of good fortune as the son who succeeded Abijah, Asa, did what was right in
the eyes of the Lord. After ten years of peace and prosperity, Asa s army defeated Cushite forces
in a feat that was clearly the work of the Lord. In Chapter 15 the Lord spoke to Asa through
Azariah to encourage him to keep seeking the Lord, so Asa initiated a series of major reforms to
reduce the pagan cultures in Judah. However, in chapter 16 Asa makes an alliance with the king
of Aram to retaliate against Baasha king of Israel. God was angered that Asa did not look to the
Lord for help first. Asa was angered at this messenger, so he sent the messenger to prison and
brutally oppressed some of the people. Asa stopped seeking the Lord and was punished with a

Once the vulnerability scans are active and in place, I suggest a strong stateful firewall that will
detect infiltration. This firewall should be capable of stateful inspections. Network/Host Intrusion
Detection Systems (IDS) are helpful in alerting of a breach. In addition, an unused ports should be

people easier and more comfortable. Moreover, it plays a great role in development of medicine,
science, education, transport and other spheres of human s life. However, electricity production is
becoming more and more problematic because the biggest part of energy for electricity is produced

destroyed the natural beauty, although that is not what matters the most compared to other
difficulties. Melting of ice in Himalayas also weakens the grip between mountain and snow
which leads to avalanches. Giant chunks of ice swept down a treacherous section of Mount

Wildlife Is Being Threatened But We Can Protect It
Have you ever wanted to have a bonfire? Do you love the home you live in? Do you ever waste
the water you drink? The next time you focus on these conveniences or advantages of your life,
consider what you re doing to the wildlife environment. Wildlife habitats are being destroyed in
many ways by many factors. For the purpose of this paper I m going to focus on the following five
areas.
Increased Development
Fire
Pollution of water
Redistribution of water
Natural Disasters
All three factors above represent destructive factors contributing to habitat destruction. A habitat is
defined as an undisturbed natural region in which wildlife lives. For example, fish live in ponds,
bears and wolves, as well as deer and squirrels live in the forest. Lizards and snakes reside in the
desert. To begin with, increased development is a major effect of threatening wildlife. Agricultureis
causing wildlife to be destroyed because forests are being turned into croplands. They re increasing
pressure to redevelop land conservation and crops. Agriculture is killing wildlife because the
habitats are being taken over by croplands. Deserts and forests are continually being wiped out by
developers and investors who are more interested in making money than preserving wildlife. Habitat
destruction is increased by the rapidly growing human population. As populations increase, we, as
humans tend to demand the use of more agricultural land consumption to build our cities and towns

Homeless Shelters, A Lack Of Resources Essay
Thirty two percent of families facing homelessness were rejected by homeless shelters because of
a lack of resources (Gerges 19). If city officials don t formulate concise response plans, homeless
shelters won t be able to accommodate the influx of people without access to other shelters. Some
of these people are forced to stay in the cold or other harsh weather conditions. As a result,
numerous homeless people suffer from conditions like frostbite and hypothermia during the winter
due to the lack of precautions and treatment in addition to the lack of shelter. Most homeless people
are dependent on their resident city s shelter system to protect themselves from severe weather
conditions. Reducing homeless deaths caused by harsh though primarily cold weather conditions
can be solved by moving the homeless out of the street into either temporary shelter programs using
spare storage units and trailers for emergency circumstances or a permanent housing initiative. In
2014, nearly 600,000 578,424В to be exact homeless people live in the United States; about a third
of this population doesn t have access to shelter. This third of the populace suffer the most when

Designing An Effective User Interface Essay
There are many moving parts that work together to create an effective user interface. This idea is
exemplified in Notes on Design Practice: Stories and Prototypes as Catalysts for
Communication by Thomas Erickson because he gives the reader a nice overview of all of the
creative pieces that go into this design process from start to finish. On a more focused level,
Prototyping for Tiny Fingers by Marc Rettig puts a key element of that process under a
microscope and breaks down what makes it so vital and how to get the most out of it. Together,
these articles present clear and time tested guidelines for efficient and creatively cost effective
interface development. Erickson talks about the some of the various methods that designers
employ when they tackle issues found within their projects. Erickson focuses on the issues that
stem from such areas as: problem setting (specifically the clear definition of what it is), team
building as carried out by interdisciplinary groups, effective user involvement to assist in guiding
the design process, the iterative process which is the foundation of collaborative design when
developing prototypes, and the idea of design transfer, which is basically the concept that within
large organizations, those who design a product are frequently not the same individuals as those
who implement it. Erickson describes the early stage of the design process as the exploratory stage,
which is the point where the general requirements are outlined and basic

Sociological View Of Religion
Praying is an important aspect of all religions as well as Christianity. To observe this specific
religious phenomenon, I went to the Church of St. Vincent Ferrer. I attended to see one of their
prayers. What they were practicing was not an individual action. They were praying with other
Christians not by themselves. Also they were praying out loud. The Priest was saying the prayerand
the others were either repeating after him or saying Amen when he finished his prayer. After
praying, most of the Christians light up candles at specific part of the church. A famous sociologist
Emile Durkheim discusses about religionin the perspective of sociology in his book, The
Elementary Forms of Religious Life. He mentions in his book that society creates the religion to
live with moral rules. Since I observe the atmosphere of that holy place, I came up with several
questions. What are the forces to make them go to the Church and pray together? And how do they
use the symbols to become a motivated person?
In sociological perspective, Durkheim believes that in order to understand the community, one need
to understand the religion. In the church, people were praying all together. ... Show more content on

Examples Of Fragmented Industry
PAPER TITLE: INDUSTRY EVOLUTION
PAPER SUBTITLE: FRAGMENTED INDUSTRY AND CONSOLIDATED INDUSTRY
1.0 ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to know the industries grow through a series of stages from growth
through maturity to decline. The industry life cycle is useful for explaining and expecting trends
among the six forces that drive industry competition. There are two types of industry which are
fragmented industry and consolidated industry. Fragmented industry occurs when the people
always buy the product when an industry is new. When an industry enters maturity, it occurs in
consolidated industry. Based on (Horry Domash, 2009) fragmented markets that have many

Roman Catholic Influence On Ireland Research Paper
Influence of Roman Catholicism in Ireland could be dated back to around 400 AD where the
majority of the population were Roman Catholics. Ironically, the ones who held the power and land
were the immigrant Protestant minorities from England. They united with the English to force a
series of discriminatory inheritance laws through Parliament. The laws effectively broke up large
Catholic estates and placed them under the mercy of rapidly consolidating Protestant landowners.
This presented a result that the Catholics, who in 1641 had control of 59% of the land after nearly
60 years in 1703, held merely 14% (Baker). The Protestants found ways to deprive Catholics of any
right to serve in the Parliament or administration through legal means.

The Peninsular Oriental Steam Navigation Company
General Information
In 1822, the very first cruise line, known as the Peninsular Oriental Steam Navigation Company,
was founded by Brodie McGhie Willcox and Arthur Anderson, both experienced in the shipping
industry. Its first ship was the 206 ton paddle steamer called the William Fawcett, which was first
deployed in 1835 from London to Spain and Portugal. More recently, in the 1960 s and early 1970
s, three of the world s largest cruise lines were established. The first one, Norwegian Cruise Line,
was introduced when airline travel was becoming increasingly popular. The cruise industry declined
significantly from this competition. The second cruise line, Royal Caribbean International, was also
experiencing the same challenges as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ship has 2,706 staterooms and a maximum capacity of 6,296 passengers. In addition to Allure
of the Seas, Royal Caribbean also owns the second largest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas. In fact,
Royal Caribbean owns 7 of the 10 largest cruise ships in the world. Its newest cruise ship, Anthem
of the Seas, has the most innovative technology onboard such as skydiving and a 360В° view of
the ocean. Has the cruise industry evolved over the past years?
The cruise industry has definitely evolved over the years to meet the changing demands and
expectations of its passengers. The most important changes in the industry over the years are the
introduction of shore excursions, new cruise routes and changes in the ships themselves. The
first cruise ships offered few to no excursions while all the modern cruise lines offer over 100
excursions per cruise. These excursions can include participating in an actual boat race in
Philipsburg, climbing waterfalls in Ocho Rios and scuba diving which is always very popular
among passengers. They are designed to give the passengers a new and thrilling experience that
they cannot attain at home. In the old days, the only cruise routes available were transatlantic and
small European routes. The transatlantic route became unpopular in the 1960 s as air travel
shortened travelling time from less than 20 hours by air versus four days by cruise. However, with
the launch of newer,

Culture of Trinidad Essay
Culture of Trinidad
According to the encyclopedia, culture is defined as The totality of socially transmitted behavior
patterns, arts, beliefs, institutions, and all other products of human work and thought
[www.wikipedia.com]. In Trinidad these particular aspects are very distinct to the people s daily
lives on the island. The diversity of actual cultures and ethnicities on the island has melted together
over the centuries to create a Trinidadian culture of its own. There are influences from almost every
part of the world including, India, China, the United States, Lebanon, Spain, Britian, Africa, and
cultures native the Caribbean.
Religion is one the most important aspects defining culture. There is no one dominant faith on the ...

These African religions are extremely important to many who wish to recognize their roots. In
earlier centuries these foreign practices were banned by slaves attempting to hold on to their
culture, and over the years they have come to represent a sense of liberation and freedom to be
African (Brereton, A History of Modern Trinidad). Overall nowadays the country s differing
religious groups coexist and generally respect each other s beliefs and practices. People of one faith
openly participate in celebrations of another faith [www.state.gov.htm].
Food is another obvious way to demonstrate the diversity of culture in Trinidad. As are the
people, food is influenced by almost every part of the world. There dishes traditional to the
Caribbean, prepared with products naturally found on the island. There are dishes with influences
from the Spanish conquistadors with their meats and different fruits, also the Indian immigration
brought curry flavors and dishes to Trinidad. A very well known Indian dish on the island is roti,
which consists of flat bread wrapped around a spicy stew of meat, potatoes, and vegetables. The
English, French and Dutch brought large scale cultivation of sugarcane. Initially the Carib s diet
consisted of meats such as guinea pig, alligator, fish, iguana and turtle. Cassava, pineapple and
cashews are native to Trinidad as well. The Spanish arriving on the island were intrigued by this

The Black Death As A Turning Point Essay
The Black Death was a bubonic plague pandemic that spread throughout Medieval England
during the years 1348 1350. The Black Death is believed to have killed between 30 45% of people
in England alone. There were numerous ideas if what the cause of the disease was but in reality,
was a bacteria born disease from the bacteria Yersinia pestis, which was carried on the fleas off
infected black rats and spread to Europe by Genoese trading ships from Asia. Some historians
believed the Black Deathmarked the beginning of a deep recession within Britain as well as the
beginning of the Renaissance, a period of striking artistic expression, whereas other historians seem
to take the view point that the Black Death simply amplified an already declining... Show more

Regardless, the decline in population may have simply marked a continuation of what was already
happening in Britain as according to Waley demographic growth had come to an end before the
Black Death had arrived in Europe and that it merely accentuated an existing trend, due to the
severe living conditions at the time as a result of poor sanitation and the Great Famine of 1315 17.
Inflation and a shortage of labour supply immediately implemented farmers as would likely have
not been able to afford to pay for their land due to a loss of rental income from tenants, causing
them to lose their land. Many farmers, according to Rubin sought to move away from labour
intensive cultivation to more diverse activities such as mining, pasturing and fisheries, as required
less care than crops, indicating a turning point in the ways that farmers sought to earn their
money. This is supported by Dyer , who analysed the consumption of foodstuffs of harvest
workers in Norfolk, to find an intensification in meat consumption to 15% in 1353 from 9% in
1341 and a decrease in bread consumption from 34% in 1341, to 31% in 1353. This indicates a
clear shift, which may have resulted from the impacts of the Black Death, inferring that there may
have been a turning point at the time as there was a

Holism Attributes
Attributes Many attributes can be associated with the concept of holism. The three most prevalent
attributes are healing, caring and integral. These are the ideals that are described most often and
practice under the concept of holism.
Healing
In general terms, healing is defined as the return to health. It is restoring someone to their former
state of health or function. The American Holistic Nurses Association defines holistic nursing as
all nursing practice that has healing the whole person as its goal (Bair, 2016). Holistic nursing
care encompasses the idea of caring for the entire person, not just their physical body. Healing is a
dynamic process of recovering from a trauma or illness by working toward realistic ... Show more

Integral health involves the process through which we reshape basic assumptions and worldviews
about well being and see death as a natural process of living. Integral health care is a patient
centered and relationship centered caring process that includes the patient, family, and community
and conventional, integrative, and integral healthcare practitioners, services and intervention in all
endeavors. The Integral nurse is a modern day Florence Nightingale. The nurse that implements the
integral theory recognize the important of the whole person in the healing process. They are able to
promote healing through their knowing, doing, and being. Integral nursing involves a
comprehensive integral worldview and process that includes holistic theories and other paradigms;
holistic nursing is included (embraced) and transcended (goes beyond); this integral process and
integral worldview enlarges our holistic understanding of body mind spirit connections and our
knowing, doing, and being to more comprehensive and deeper levels. (Dossey Keegan,

Montesquieu s Contributions to the Enlightenment
Many people living in The United States like to think that our founding fathers thought of the basic
construction of our whole government system. They really did not; Charles Louis Secondat, baron
de Montesquieu thought of the system of checks and balances plus the three branches of
government. The whole framework of our Constitutionis based on what Montesquieu thoughtof
during the enlightenment period. The purpose of the three branches is to make it where no one
person or group of people is greater than the rest. Montesquieu wanted to make a government
where the people had a say in what happened and there wasn t a single person in charge. The
system of checks and balances was to reinforce what he was trying to do. Making it where one...

While doing this he published his book Spirit of the Laws trying to explore how different legal
systems worked. Although he was inclined to think humans were exactly the same everywhere he
looked, he knew as a local judicial body that people all over the world are very different. He was
painfully aware of the huge variation in local customs and laws. Although he knew people were
different depending on where there culture and background was from; he knew that every body s
mind could reason. From average republican arguments that laws had to fit to the standards attached
to the kind of government for the people; Montesquieu had to add three arguments.
Firstly he said that the laws and customs of a country will depend upon the more demanding mode
of the country. He felt that trade promoted country reliance s and increased tolerance of different
cultures overall promoting peace. Promoting trade meant promoting the differences in the world to
come together. Although with some countries he thought it might promote competition rather than
coöperation and acceptance. Meaning they might take trading as a rivalry instead of a friendly
gesture.
Secondly, he thought that the environment you lived in could affect your laws for certain things.
For example; he thought that men in the tropics are lazier then men in tempered climates. Thinking
that was why slavery was allowed in the

  • 5. Sunshine And Light In The Scarlett Letter Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel The Scarlett Letter is a satire based around a Puritan culture published in the 1850 s. The novel is based around Hester Prynne, who commits adultery against her husband Roger Chillingworth. Hester s sin causes her daughter Pearl and her to be treated wrongly by the Puritans. The Puritans are ruthless and harsh towards sinners such as Hester Prynne, unlike the natural world which is merciful and kind. The novel tells a story of characters trying to find their way into the sympathetic light or lose their way into the deep despair of darkness. Hawthorne uses sunshine or light as an element of forgiveness and innocence, while using the darkness to symbolize the evil. The contradiction between the light and darkness can be depicted between Pearl who is favored by the sunshine, Hester who is later favored, and Chillingworth who is enveloped by the evil darkness. Hawthorne s use of sunshine to favor Pearl presents the understanding that Pearl is innocent and pure. Pearl was brought into the world out of sin and the Puritans view her as a child from the devil. The use of sunshine and light to Pearl s favor contradicts these assumptions made by the judgmental Puritans. Supported in the text by Hester telling Pearl to acquire her own sunshine, No my little Pearl! Said her mother. Thou must gather thine own sunshine. I have none to give thee! (Hawthorne 96) The text from the novel supports Hawthorne s use of sunshine to favor Pearl because her mother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were eleven overall reactors that were effected by the earthquake and tsunami. Nine of the reactors cooling systems continued to work after the natural disasters occurred, but reactors one, two and three of the Fukushima Daiichi plant were terribly damaged and could not cool down the fission process. This is what lead to the one, two and three reactors to melt, causing the most detrimental damage to the global community (Grimston). He was the fourth child of twelve and the second son of seven boys and five girls. He started school when he was ten because his family was so poor. Later he got into good schools and became a great teacher. He won multiple awards for his chemistry experiments because he was the first person to artificially break an element. I chose Ernest Rutherford because he found out lots of things about science and he is a very interesting man. He found out that atoms are not independent; they are controlled by something else, a nucleus. Also he split an atomin 1917 discovering that atoms are made up of more than one part. The element Rutherfordium was named in his honor. Since money was tight, Rutherford found good ways of overcoming his family s money challenges, By making family friendly inventions. At the age of ten, Rutherford was handed his first science book at Fox Hill School. It was a great experience for Rutherford, that the book inspired his very first scientific experiment. The young Rutherford built a miniature cannon, which, to his family s surprise, unexpectedly exploded. After the result, Rutherford s interest in academics remained weak. The company s policy on returns, refusals, and damaged items is to do whatever the shipper dictates. Some items are so large that it is not cost efficient to return them to the shipper or corporate, such as, kayaks, patio furniture sets, or custom vanity cabinets. In these instances, the directive is often to destroy and dispose of it or give it to charity. Many perfectly good items end up in the trash because of this but some items magically disappear from the dumpster as well. Recently, a case of tea and a Keurig, were the topic of discussion. A clerk received an order to destroy the tea and dispose of it, she had the terminal manager sign off on it and claimed to put it in the dumpster. Both managers later became aware that the tea had disappeared and was not in the dumpster. The next day, an order came in to dispose of a Keurig that was being held. • 16. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Contract Theory In the Elements of Moral Philosophy, written by James Rachels, the theory of Social Contract Theory is defined as the set of rules, governing behaviors, that rational people will accept, on the condition that others accept them as well (Rachels EMP 85). The author describes that the theory aims to explain the purpose of both moralityand government within a society. Rachels states that the purpose of morality is to make social living possible; the purpose of government is to enforce vital moral rules (Rachels EMP 85). In essence, social contracttheory dictates an implicit set of rules by which a specific society is governed. The set of rules lays the framework for what will be considered moral or not within the society. The goal of this essay is to objectively analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the social contract theory, and describe how they impact the world. Ultimately, even though the text provides concerns regarding the disadvantages of the contract, the contract still exists today and thus can be successful despite the author s criticism. Social contract theory promotes the existence of social order and provides the foundation for morality (Rachels EMP 82). A weak economy and the lack of a strong centralized power made it easy for the Mongols to conquer Russia. However, under Mongol rule, princes attained wealth through siphoning off taxes as tribute collectors and learned to centralize their power from the Mongols while the Orthodox Church was able to flourish and rise as a unifying force through tax exemptions. • 25. Prenatal Contraception And Prenatal Care Essay The risk of maternal and infant mortality can be significantly reduced by increasing access to early and adequate prenatal care (Chapman Durham, 2010). The prenatal period provides an opportunity to make positive changes in all aspects of a women s health status and health maintenance behaviors. Early and adequate prenatal care provides the opportunity to identify significant risks to the pregnant women, and develop interventions to reduce or eliminate potential complications (Chapman Durham, 2010). Prenatal care encompasses the health care services provided to a women, from the time the women becomes pregnant until birth. Prenatal care consists of three major components, risk assessment, treatment of existing medical conditions and/or risk reduction, and patient education (Chapman Durham, 2010). Current guidelines established by the American College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists, regarding prenatal care for a low risk, expected full term pregnancy, include at least thirteen prenatal visits (ACOG, 2016). Recommendations suggest one visit per month for the first 28 weeks of pregnancy, bi monthly during 29 36 weeks and then every week until birth (ACOG, 2016). Evidence based practices emphasize the importance of receiving both early prenatal care, beginning in the first trimester as well as adequate prenatal care, encompassing all perinatal education and guidance (ACOG, 2016). • 26. Harvey Milk Thesis Statement Due to the increasingly negative view of homosexuality in the late 1970 s and early 1980 s, the LGBTQ community was facing a world altering decision; they could either shrink into the background, and allow the world to continue to draw its opinions based on speculation, or claim the spotlight and allow themselves to be judged based on their own merit. Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected official in the United States (Hope Speech, Commentary) saw a need for an uprising of the latter. When addressing a crowd of his supporters and the Lesbian, Gay, Bi Sexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) people in The Hope Speech at San Francisco City Hall on Gay Freedom Day in 1978, Harvey Milk uses the I You/Us Them relationships as defined by Martin Buber, pathos appeals, and shared experiences to establish an emotional bond with the LGBTQ community. This relationship of comradery and mentorship, deeply rooted in shared values, best prepared the crowd to absorb his message of activism and hope. Harvey Milk, though he had known since high school that he was gay (Biography), was initially outwardly ambivalent to legislation passed against the LGBTQ community. This all changed after he befriended a group of gay radicals in his mid forties. They propelled him into the politically charged world of activism, in which he developed his voice, and stood out as a leader in the LGBTQ community. Common Goods Testing Introduction In the story of the Sole Remaining Supplier, a company who supplied pacemaker equipment was debating on whether or not they should continue due to numerous ethical issues. The company, also the sole remaining suppliers, felt that they should discontinue selling equipment because if the product stopped working, it could lead to major lawsuits and they did not want to deal with these ethical issues. In this paper, I will apply steps A through D of the Utility Test to this case and I will also apply the Common Good Test to this case as well. After comparing and contrasting the Utility Test with the Common Good Test, I will then determine which test is the most informative in terms of my evaluation of the case. Utility Test ... Common Goods Test The Common Goods test involves being able to live together in a community and requires that we pay attention not just to our individual goods but also to the common conditions that are important to the welfare of us all. Israel rebels against the house of David when Rehoboam chooses to disregard the elders who had served Solomon and instead enforces a stricter rule on the people. Although the split between Israel and Judah is not explicitly made official, chapter 11 foreshadows the split as it profiles the emergence of a rival leader in the form of Jeroboam. The chapter talks about how Rehoboam gains power through building up his family and building up cities in preparation for fighting against the rest of Israel. Rehoboam abandons the law of the Lord and is attacked by the king of Egypt. God had originally intended to use Egypt to completely destroy Israel, but since the people humbled themselves, Egypt took the treasures in the Temple and subjected the people to servanthood. Rehoboam continued to reign and faced continual warfare with Jeroboam, the king of Israel. Chapter 13 talks about how his son Abijah succeeded him as the king of Judah. Abijah inherited the animosity with Jeroboam as chapter 13 narrates a fierce battle in which Abijah wins because Judah cried out to the Lord. Judah saw a time of good fortune as the son who succeeded Abijah, Asa, did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. After ten years of peace and prosperity, Asa s army defeated Cushite forces in a feat that was clearly the work of the Lord. • 43. Roman Catholic Influence On Ireland Research Paper Influence of Roman Catholicism in Ireland could be dated back to around 400 AD where the majority of the population were Roman Catholics. Ironically, the ones who held the power and land were the immigrant Protestant minorities from England. They united with the English to force a series of discriminatory inheritance laws through Parliament. The laws effectively broke up large Catholic estates and placed them under the mercy of rapidly consolidating Protestant landowners. This presented a result that the Catholics, who in 1641 had control of 59% of the land after nearly 60 years in 1703, held merely 14% (Baker). The Protestants found ways to deprive Catholics of any right to serve in the Parliament or administration through legal means. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. The Black Death As A Turning Point Essay The Black Death was a bubonic plague pandemic that spread throughout Medieval England during the years 1348 1350. Regardless, the decline in population may have simply marked a continuation of what was already happening in Britain as according to Waley demographic growth had come to an end before the Black Death had arrived in Europe and that it merely accentuated an existing trend, due to the severe living conditions at the time as a result of poor sanitation and the Great Famine of 1315 17. Inflation and a shortage of labour supply immediately implemented farmers as would likely have not been able to afford to pay for their land due to a loss of rental income from tenants, causing them to lose their land. Many farmers, according to Rubin sought to move away from labour intensive cultivation to more diverse activities such as mining, pasturing and fisheries, as required less care than crops, indicating a turning point in the ways that farmers sought to earn their money. This is supported by Dyer , who analysed the consumption of foodstuffs of harvest workers in Norfolk, to find an intensification in meat consumption to 15% in 1353 from 9% in 1341 and a decrease in bread consumption from 34% in 1341, to 31% in 1353. This indicates a clear shift, which may have resulted from the impacts of the Black Death, inferring that there may have been a turning point at the time as there was a ... Although he was inclined to think humans were exactly the same everywhere he looked, he knew as a local judicial body that people all over the world are very different. Although he knew people were different depending on where there culture and background was from; he knew that every body s mind could reason. From average republican arguments that laws had to fit to the standards attached to the kind of government for the people; Montesquieu had to add three arguments.
