Hacking has become a common trend all over the world. The act has not only become more and more
rampant for commercial gains but also for other reasons such as academic gains. This was the case in
California where some students managed to hack into their class teacher s account. This hacking was
followed by an alteration of the grades which was obviously to their advantage so that the system can
reflect that they passed the tests. This incident took place in Orange County and the students were

I have chosen to pursue research in the field of biology because I enjoy the approach of logical
thinking to satisfy the curiosity of me and the world around me. Although, sometimes it is infuriating
while not getting the desired outcomes, but the thing that fascinates me more about this area of science
is the freedom to explore the living world.
During my doctoral training, it was fortunate for me to work as a teaching assistant during the
practical course works for undergraduate students for seven semesters. While working as a teaching
assistant, I got an opportunity to give a lecture on Tumor Immunology and also to arrange a
demonstration of goat brain dissection for the undergraduate students and that gave me a huge self

4. Life of Prophet Jeremiah
Life and times Jeremiah was born and grew up in the village of Anathoth, a few miles northeast of
Jerusalem, in a priestly family. In his childhood he must have learned some of the traditions of his
people, particularly the prophecies of Hosea, whose influence can be seen in his early messages. The
era in which Jeremiah lived was one of transition for the ancient Near East. The Assyrian empire,
which had been dominant for two centuries, declined and fell. Its capital, Nineveh, was captured in
612 by the Babylonians and Medes. Egypt had a brief period of resurgence under the 26th dynasty
(664 525) but did not prove strong enough to establish an empire. The new world power was the Neo
Babylonian empire, ruled by a Chaldean dynasty whose best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the opinion of such scholars, Jeremiah began to prophesy toward the end of the reign of Josiah or at
the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim (609 598). Early in the reign of Jehoiakim, Jeremiah delivered
his famous Temple sermon, of which there are two versions, one in Jeremiah, chapter 7, verses 1 to
15, the other in chapter 26, verses 1 to 24. He denounced the people for their dependence on the
Temple for security and called on them to effect genuine ethical reform. He predicted that God would
destroy the Temple of Jerusalem, as he had earlier destroyed that of Shiloh, if they continued in their
present path. Jeremiah was immediately arrested and tried on a capital charge. He was acquitted but
may have been forbidden to preach again in the Temple. The reign of Jehoiakim was an active and
difficult period in Jeremiah s life. That king was very different from his father, the reforming Josiah,
whom Jeremiah commended for doing justice and righteousness. Jeremiah denounced Jehoiakim
harshly for his selfishness, materialism, and practice of social injustice. Near the time of the Battle of
Carchemish, in 605, when the Babylonians decisively defeated the Egyptians and the remnant of the
Assyrians, Jeremiah delivered an oracle against Egypt. Realizing that this battle made a great
difference in the world situation, Jeremiah soon dictated to his scribe, Baruch, a scroll containing all

The American Community Colleges were established in the twentieth century to address the needs of
the workforce development (The American Association of Community College, 2015). Moreover,
skilled workers were critical to the economic growth and strength of America s society (American
Association of Community College, 2015). Although the community college s mission has not
changed, employment skills have changed. In order to yield tangible economic benefits to the
community, community colleges have to start to think more creatively (Rockefeller Institute of
Government, 2010). For over thirty years, community colleges has been the go to reference for their
role in economic development and services rendered to the community (American Community
College, 2014). Because of the substantial need for industries to obtain and maintain skilled workers,
the community college system is pursuing strategies to help employers attract the preferred worker.
This is done through education, training, management counseling, and other initiatives (Rockefeller
Institute of Government, 2010). Consequently, knowledge is power; higher education s primary role
and contribution to economic development remains in its traditional obligation: creating an educated
society. In addition to that, the current economy has caused the conventional academic mission to be
extremely significant (Rockefeller Institute of Government, 2010). The paradigm shift in the twenty
first century is more knowledge

its use of sex and coming of age politics. The film won an Academy Award for best director and A

ISYS2423 Individual Report
Name: Brian Au
Student Number: 3333937
Topic: Digital Disruption
Introduction
The business world continues to change dramatically as new technologies are invented. Organizations
and businesses are experiencing waves of technological change and innovation and the process. Thus,
management strategies of the organizations have to be altered to match the new technologies if
businesses are to remain competitive and active in the market place. Digital disruption can be defined
as the changes that take place when new technologies and business models affect the promise of value
to be delivered by existing goods and services (McQuivey 2015). Change experienced in information
and communication technology cannot be assumed as this greatly affects business governance and
business models. It is indisputable that business and organizations are facing imminent and major
digital disruptions and it is important for each organization to understand the issues raised by digital
disruption to be able to develop specific, pragmatic, and proportional responses (Deloitte 2015). This
research seeks to show how digital disruption impacts business governance and how it opens
unprecedented business opportunities and possibilities. The report shows how the innovations
accompanying digital disruption changes economies and markets and how they reinvent relationships

12. Analysis Of Woodrow Wilson s The Straw That Broke The...
Following WW1, Europe was left in a bad state. Empires were destroyed and states were being
formed. The Minority question that arose following the war, albeit important, was not as much of a
destabilizing force in this time as people like to think. It was only the byproduct of events that took
place. These events include the publishing of the fourteen points, the settlements made during the
Paris Peace conference, and the creation of state constitutions. The minority question was, in essence,
the straw that broke the camel s back, breaking the already damaged infrastructure of post war Europe.
In order to answer the question on why minority rights became such a destabilizing force after the war,
we must first look at what caused this problem to become the forefront of many European minds. Two
pivotal events took place following the war that left stains on Europe; stains that, to some, indirectly
led to the start of World War 2. The first and most important event was the publishing of Woodrow
Wilson s fourteen points on January 8, 1918. These points were created in the hope to promote peace
and harmony among the recently war stricken nations of Europe. One prominent point that came from
this document was the idea of self determination. This encouraged people to form their own nation
where they could choose rulers and live amongst others who share the same culture. This piqued the
interest of the millions of people living in the various, and heavily

An analysis of charter schools government funded independent schools that offer either a special
theme or are required to meet a particular performance indicator (Davies Guppy, 2006) as an

for several reasons. First, in terms of academic performance, there is little evidence that charter school
students fare better than public school students (Murphy, 2003). Second, as new providers of
education, advocates claim charter schools bring innovative and fresh new thinking to schooling

This is opposed to the one size fits all approach of the public education system (Davies Guppy, 2006).
Consequently, student learning and performance should increase. However, there is little evidence to
support this claim; studies have found that improvements in learning are not significant and are similar
to the achievement gains in regular public schools (Murphy, 2003).
The absence of an alleged increase in academic achievement in charter schools compared to public
schools is further supported by a study on the results of the 2003 National Assessment of Educational
Progress (NAEP) mathematics exam in the U.S. The study compared the math scores of 190,000
fourth graders and 153,000 eight graders students from 13,577 public, private and charter schools
(Lubienski Lubienski, 2006). As opposed to reading, math is more influenced by school than home
experiences and thus, math scores offer better insights into the performance of different types of
schools relative to one another (Lubienski Lubienski, 2006). Once differences in location and
demographics were controlled, the study found that the fourth graders in charter schools actually
scored a statistically significant 4.4 points lower than public schools, but eight graders in charter
schools scored a statistically insignificant 2.4 points higher than public schools (Lubienski Lubienski,
2006). Clearly, the findings of this study refute

1. Introduction
Around the turn of the millennium political leaders around Europe were challenged by two antithetical
developments within their societies. On one side, the European citizens rely on them to handle and
solve the major contemporary political issues (e.g. unemployment, peace and safekeeping). On the
other side, increasing distrust and indifference concerning politicians, politics and institutions (on the
national and European level) leads to a growing legitimacy issue for the European Union and its
institutions. As a result the incumbent president of the Commission of the European Communities,
Romano Prodi, announced promoting new forms of European governance (Prodi, 2000:4) as a key
strategic objective of his Commission from 2000 2005. Consequently, the European Commission
published the White Paper on European Governance in 2001, introducing steps to a more democratic
Union.
The aim of this paper is the critical assessment of the White Paper, thus closely scrutinizing the
principles of good governance and the given proposals for change. The paper will start with a short
section on problem analysis, followed by the critical engagement with the principles of good
governance and the proposals for change as proposed in the White Paper. Then, this paper will, very

intensity of both character s shows one demands success, but the other demands equality for black
people. Brian hints to Tracy that sticking to her own kind of people will be more beneficial to her
because she comes from a different world than the rest.
Although this may be true, I can understand why she had a hard time accepting it, because black
people have been oppressed their entire lives and during that time a lot of black women weren t

19. The United States Public Education System Essay
Most Americans believe that the United States public education system is largely based on the
principles of work ethic and equal opportunity. We are taught that a strong work ethic is important in
achieving good grades, and that these grades are crucial to attending elite universities and earning
scholarships. The aforementioned features are key components of the dominant American ideology; a
way of seeing that feels natural and inevitable. Although major institutions such as schools legitimize
a societal reward system based on merit and hard work, also known as a meritocracy, the U.S. public
education system evidently contains tremendous inequality, much of which is maintained and
produced through the institution itself. Furthermore, structural factors such as cumulative advantage,
which explains how those who are successful gain additional success, offer an explanation for the
inequalities in the school system that manifest unexpectedly and cannot be solved by money. Through
the legitimation of the dominant American ideology and the process of cumulative advantage, the U.S.
public education system perpetuates social inequality within the classroom and provides additional
power to those already born with better life chances. In social theory, there exists a long standing
debate over whether structure or agency is central in shaping human behavior. While structure is the
underlying set of rules for how a society works, agency is the ability of the individual to exert choice

My last greatest strength as a writer is my commitment to providing the audience information in a way
that can be easily understood. When I was writing my research paper, I had to explain some
complicated concepts like Bayer demosaicing and photosites. In my research, I quoted what McHugh
explained about the Bayer demosaicing, Bayer demosaicing is the process of translating this Bayer
array of primary colors into a final image which contains full color information at each pixel. Instead
of rephrasing the definition I made a comparison, It s like a coloring book. You decide what colors you
want and you determine where they go, but until you ve finished completing the coloring you won t
see the final results. My comparison also provided a visual representation of how the Bayer
demosaicing process works. I think this helps make the concept easier to comprehend because the
reader can relate to it.
When I write my papers I usually like to talk out loud when I m writing them because it helps me hear
what it sounds like. However, my lack of focus can cause me to make a lot of grammar mistakes such
as comma splices. In all my papers, comma splices are the most common grammar mistakes I make.

21. Prison Management In Prison
Your absolute separation from your loved ones and society can be worth up to $18,000 per year. At
least, that s how much it s worth to the Management and Training Corporation (MTC), who is one of
the three leading private prison management companies in the United States. Companies such as the
MTC, the GEO Group, inc., and the Correction Corporations of America (CCA) make billions of
dollars by keeping criminals locked up. The idea of making profit from prisoners doesn t sound too
inhumane of a notion until you obtain a further understanding of the system and how it operates.
Private prison management strategists understand that the massive amounts revenue being shoveled
into their corporate bank accounts shares a correlation to the amount of prisoners incarcerated in their
prisons. It is for this reason that companies like the CCA force the contractual obligation of minimal
occupancy guarantees upon states correction departments. These minimal occupancy guarantees make
it so that if a certain states does not incarcerate enough prisoners to occupy a set percentage (typically
the high 90% range) of a facility, that state would have to pay fees to the companies which own the
underpopulated facilities for their empty beds. This can easily cause states to feel pressured to fulfill
quotas by prosecuting substantial amounts of civilians. It is for this reason, and many others, that the
American prison system is a broken, unprincipled network of captivity which takes its victims and
leaves many of them in a state of mental and financial despair. Prisoners in private prisons are subject
to harsh living conditions, and debilitating mental torture. They are used as pawns in a wicked game
for financial wealth, all at the expense of prisoners well being, and taxpayers wallets. Prisons in the
United States are unsanitary cesspools with loose administration and security. Prisoners, many
incarcerated for nonviolent crimes, are subject to living in filthy facilities surrounded by murderers
and rapists. Taking advantage of prison overpopulation, private prison corporations are able to
mistreat prisoners due to many states need for extra cells. In an essay on HRW.org it is stated that,

22. The Benefits Of Hiking The Appalachian Trail
The cost is one part of hiking the Appalachian trail. Every mile of the trail to hike costs you $1.50
per/mile. If you hike the whole trail, every mile put together costs $3000 for the whole trail. But, the
cost of the trail does not include the amount of gear you have and carrying with you on the trail. It
only cost $1.50 per/person. The amount of stuff you are carrying does nothing to the price that you
have to pay per/mile. So if you are planning on hiking the whole Application trail, make sure you have
$3000 dollars on you to hike the whole trail.
How was the Appalachian trail created? In October 1921 Benton MacKaye had the idea of the trail.
By March 1925, MacKaye had generated enough support for a hiking trail. Retired Connecticut Judge

24. Carthaginian Culture
Carthage s empire displayed superiority to Rome s republic, from my perspective, in structure and
substance. For instance, as a Phoenician culture Carthaginians sought unification of related Phoenician
cultures wherein they had common language (Pfingsten, 2015); conversely, Rome invaded peoples of
assorted languages. The Carthaginians built their commercial empire predominately through trade and
wealth (Pfingsten, 2015) not mere conquest and bloodshed (Pfingsten, 2015) as the Romans.
Therefore, tracing the development of Carthage and Rome reveals the respective strengths and
resultant conflicts which led to the superfluous in my judgment, destruction of the refined civilization

There has been a rise in gun violence in the United States for the past few years killing several victims
that gotten caught in cross fire, mass shootings, and in crime. In 2012, there were over a dozen mass
shooting incidents with two standing out as especially tragic. One of the shootings ended with 12
people dead and 58 others harmed and only tis amount because the shooter gun was jammed. The
second mass shooting involved a man not only killing his mom but also elementary school children
and some of the people working there, then later himself. With an increase of innocent people deaths
due to guns there has not been a change or an increase in gun laws to lowers the death rates. In the
State of Texas, it s citizens at the age 18 can walk in a store and buy a rifle without a license or any

completion of a handgun proficiency test by a qualified instructor. A person is not allowed to have a

Overall, the population trends in the state of Florida exhibits a pronounced and exploding elderly

trends include the nation s exponentially growing Hispanic population. Specific relevant
demographics trends include a shift from distinctly Cuban Baby Boomer populations , which

Democratic ideologies. More notable patterns involve radical demographic shifts due to an
increasingly diminishing Millennial population.
The dynamically increasing cost of housing demonstrates possible correlations to the change (Vitner,

home ownership. As such, The Miami/Fort Lauderdale/Pompano Beach metro area continues to shed

Verizon has a new commercial where the whole ad is based on the slogan half fast internet. Go ahead,
say it out loud. The entire commercial s dialogue has various people, mostly families, including a

play on word expression, not normally allowed in commercials, will drive sales. The idea of the
commercial series is that most broadband providers have slow upload speeds, making them only half
fast. So, the actors in the commercial complain of the half fast job their Internet is doing when they are

Generally, taxation in the United Kingdom has experienced tremendous changes from time to time. In
the 2009 budget, several tax increases were announced by Alistair Darling, the then Chancellor, in
attempts to generate more than £6 billion by 2012. These increases were also geared towards securing
the country s economic future and providing assistance to people when necessary. Some of these
changes include increases in the rate of indirect taxes and changes to income tax through the
introduction of a new 50 percent rate on incomes above £150,000. The introduction of the 50 percent
additional rate of income tax was primarily part of the coalition Government s fiscal policy toward
cutting the deficit. The introduction of the new 50 percent rate on income tax dominated reactions to
the 2009 financial year budget because of its consideration as a significant change in the approach by
the Labour Government to tax the wealthy (Seely, 2014). These concerns were also characterized by
huge discussions on whether these significant changes would generate as much as the Government
expected i.e. £1.3 billion in 2010 2011 financial year that would in turn increase to £3.05 billion in the

Anna Bradstreet grows up in a healthy family. She was the daughter of Thomas Dudley who is the
manager of the country estate of the Puritan Earl of Lincoln. Anna Bradstreet got married at the age of
16 to the young Simon Bradstreet who was working with Anna father. Anna Bradstreet never went to

Stalin s Emergence as Leader
Jan 21, 1924 Russian revolutionary Vladimir Ilyich Lenin died at age 53 and a major struggle for
power in the Soviet Union began. A triumvirate led by Joseph Stalin succeeded Lenin. By 1928, Stalin
had assumed absolute power, ruling as an often brutal dictator until his death in 1953. But how is it
that Stalin emerged as the new leader of the Soviet Union. In this essay I am going to explore the
reasons to how and why this happened.

Because they did not trust Trotsky to lead them into a better USSR.
Stalin was able to outmanouvere his opponents by playing them off one another. This was a grat
attribute which stalin had. For example in 1924, Zinoviev and Kamenev mounted a viscous campaign
against Trotsky, questioning his loyalty and raisng his opposition to Lenin before 1917. Stalin was
happy to stay in the background bwatching the left wing tearing itself apart and continued to build his
power base. He emerged as the peacemaker, (which also added support for him) anxious to maintain
party unity.
However it was not only Stalin s political skills that helped him gain power, but his personal
characteristics and qualities. For example, unlike Trotsky he was a very loyal member and had
proletariat roots, and he was perceived by many to have no real reason to cause splits with in the party.
Stalin was also perceived as dull and mediocre the grey blur and so no one saw him as a real threat.
This was important and enabled him to rise to power without anyone really noticing. He was tough
and ambitious and determined to protect his power base and make sure that it was him who emerged
as leader. Stalin s control of appointment membership made him a useful ally. As this made other
contenders want him

European Renaissance The printing press drastically improved the advancement of the sciences,

the press served the interests of humanists by making available many ancient Greco Roman classics,
such as the works of Homer, Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, and Virgil, previously rare or unavailable in
western Christendom. The humanistic ideals of the Renaissance were printed and spread across

The printing press not only influenced the Renaissance, but it also influenced the Age of
Enlightenment, which is a direct transition of the ideas of the Renaissance, but were used to challenge

Age of Enlightenment The impact of the printing press on science and technology was tremendous.
Before the press, scientists had worked in relative isolation. With the printing press came the
publishing of their results, which accelerated the rate of scientific discovery.
Many of these advances directly impacted the quality of life for large groups of people through
improved medicine, domestic and agricultural technology, and transportation. The birth of the modern
scientific revolution can be directly linked to early printed works by Nicolaus Copernicus, Johannes
Kepler, Galileo Galilei, and Isaac Newton, with his Principia (1687) as the crowning achievement of
this early phase.
Printing books provided a means that scientists could use to record, arrange, and preserve the
knowledge they d been studying. Now, scientists could join their research and ideas with their
predecessors, which would further advance their own.
In many ways, the social impact of Gutenberg s printing press culminated with the Enlightenment it

When looking into the ideas of political theorists it is important to the use of political concepts that
may play an important role in what the theorists are suggesting and also how they may affect the
relationship between to state and the individuals living within a state. The concepts that will be looked
at within this essay are: power, authority and also accountability. Power in politics is a person who has
the ability to influence a person in terms of their behaviour; however they possess no right to unlike
authority. There are many ways in which a person can influence another s behaviour; one such
example is through coercion. Coercion refers to the use of violence or threats in order to influence

was apparent that he felt the individual needs of a prince in terms of the power and authority was
important and that a prince should do whatever he felt necessary to protect the state and as a result it
would mean a prince s position as a ruler was also prodected. [Wheeler, 2011] Machiavelli placed a
large amount on the emphasis on the fact that a prince must be seen to be a moral but he is able act un
morally if it contributes to the good of the state or provides him with more power. He must be loved
by the people and he must also be feared in order to maintain his role as a ruler of a state. Machiavelli
argued that if a prince cannot be both loved and feared it is better for him to be feared as more people
would be scared to question him and afraid of the consequences that may follow. This results in more
power and authority for the prince but at the same time it means that the prince is less accountable.
This is a benefit for the prince but no for the people living within the state that Machiavelli is
suggesting (Macmillian, 2006) Machiavelli saw no difference between power and authority the

39. Desiree s Baby Literary Analysis
Identifying the elements of a literary text is very important in applying literary criticism. These
elements can help us analyze and understand a text better. For example one was able to apply
historical criticism in the short story Desiree s Baby . The elements that have helped apply historical
criticism in this short story are the setting, racial background of characters, and the role they represent.
One of the components in the story that implies the application of historical criticism is the setting.
The setting of Desiree s Baby took place in Louisiana before the civil war. This was the time period
where slavery took place and being African American was shameful. In this story the characters
actions and thoughts are influenced by the time period in which the story occurred. Although Kate
Chopin does not directly state that the story is set before the Civil war, several details from the story
support this setting, including the plantations, slaves, slave owners, and French vernacular. The strong
male influence of Armand and the dependence Desiree had on her husband also gave away that ...

where outcomes are uncertain but also where decisions, actions and opportunities are time dependent.
In contrast, private clients do not appear to perceive the legal services environment as dynamic. They
suggest that legal matters take a long time, often longer than they expect. These findings cannot be
taken for granted. Actual quantity of services can vary from day to day, from service employee to

their services in order to provide consistency of quality, downside is the loss of customized services,
which many consumers value.
Major issue with legal services is that they are first sold and then produced and consumed

Gross Domestic Product, also known as GDP, is defined as the value of goods produced and services
provided in a country during one year. Gross Domestic Product is important in the culture of
economics because in the United States, we use it to measure the well being of the economy. Gross
Domestic Product is measured in quarters, there are four quarters in one economic year. Say the Gross

On news channels like FOX News, FOX Business Network, CNN, and MSNBC we hear them talking

they have guest on the show to discuss the current gross domestic product and how it s either

four other contributors were discussing whether or not the Obama Administration was going to
