The Trials And Tribulations Of A Transformational Leader...
The Trials Tribulations of a Transformational Leader
Brandon Kent
ASU, PAF 410
September 22, 2016
Throughout time, many books and papers have been written to study the birthplace of leadership
failure, its causes, results, and ultimately, the best way to oversea these situations to avoid future
failures. Some leadership experts, may argue that the best way to learn how to lead, is to study
successful leadership outcomes and more importantly, how former miscalculations were committed
and as a result, what gran plan was used that resulted in the leaders turnaround success. To be a great
leader, the individual has to be cognate of what elements, including external and internal impact,
resulted in their failure, as well as, how to avoid leadership oversight in the future. In this paper, I will
attempt to do just that, as I will incorporate the transactional and transformational leadership theory
from this course and apply them to the leadership failures of one of the most entertaining leadership
failures of all time: the DeLorean Motor Company. From a business perspective, the ramifications of
leadership failure differ in size depending on the severity of the situation. If market conditions are
fixed and the competitive atmosphere is not extraordinarily punishing, leadership failures may not be
that bad for the business. If, however, the market is going through dramatic change, which demands
equally dramatic change in the organization, failure to

Essay On Masculinity In Huck Finn
Since the Frontier era in American history masculinity has evolved from simply being an advanced
Neanderthal, someone who is an adventurous, strong, outdoorsman that provides for, and protects his
family to that of a well mannered, kempt aristocrat by the end to turn of the 19th century.
While reading many early Romanticism, Transcendentalism, and Realism works have you ever
noticed authors views are predominantly parallel with the society and time in which they lived?
American authors (men/woman) where thought of as revolutionary with their popular, well noted
works, but their gender ideals stem from society s views rather than their own perceptions. Without
societies stipulations, these early authors could have been even more significant and influential than
they already are thought to be. The most well noted early American authors all have one big,
sometimes unrealized bias. That bias is gender. Authors such as Mark Twain, Walt Whitman, and
Henry James all follow this unintentional norm in the way that they have represented masculinity
through their works. The most popular frontier author, Mark Twain, represents an early and more
simplistic male view through his work The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn . Through Huck s
adventures Twain is able to capture the early, simplistic forms of masculinity. Huck was always

But the next day I went exploring around down through the island. I was boss of it; it all belonged to

Night Lizard Research Paper
They are the miniature dinosaurs of our current era. Some of them may be so scary that we have to
call the fire department to get them out of our house. Many are small in size but still relate to many of
the late predecessors that had once ruled the planet. Yes, lizards are the animal that are being
mentioned and talked about. Lizards are a well adapted, variety of species that still contain anatomy
from the Mesozoic Era and still are an important part of the ecosystem. The two most common lizards
in California are the night lizards and the fence lizard. These two species have sub species from them;
however, they both have a similar body structure but have very different habitats when compared to
each other. If these lizards were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The heart of these reptiles has changed very little, if not at all. Their hearts have three chambers,
unlike mammals who have four chambered hearts (Dowling). With it, reptiles have advantages and
disadvantages. In the winter a lizard will restrict blood flow through their lungs in order to save
energy as they hibernate (Dowling). Having only a three chambered heart puts a large restraint on the
amount of heat that is produced inside the body. Similar to those of the past reptiles, lizards will tend
to colonize in open areas where there is a large amount of direct sunlight. Direct sunlight will greatly
warm a reptile s body so that they can perform their basic metabolic functions with more ease. The
blood pressure of a lizard is also very low due to their hearts; as a result, lizards have grown to not
need a continuous food supply but still eat in bulk like their predecessor(Dowling). In many cases,
lizards that have a diet of an herbivore located in dessert biomes have been found to eat cactus fruit
and low growing flowers. With the integration of plants into their diet, lizards easily control small
plant populations throughout many desserts of the

The Replacement Of A Single Tooth
Introduction:
The replacement of a single tooth lost due to dental caries or trauma can be challenging for a clinician.
Traditionally several options are indicated in order to restore the edentulous space including
implant/crown, fixed partial dentures (FPD) or removable partial denture (RPD). However economic
factors, occlusal disturbances, lack of adequate bone support or excessive removal of healthy dental
structure are some of the limiting factors in the traditional treatment modalities.
One approach that is overlooked and may serve as a good treatment modality is the Fiber Reinforced
Composite Bridge (FRCB). FRCBs are minimally invasive and economic treatment modalities that
can be utilized to replace of a missing tooth and restore an edentulous space.
The ideal site for a conservative FRCB is an edentulous space spanning one to two teeth. Other
considerations include occlusion or the bite relation, periodontal status, oral hygiene, and the status of
abutment teeth.
It should be noted that this modality of treatment is the not the most ideal modaility of treatment
however, it does provide an alternative approach if the ideal modality (Implant/Crown, FPD, RPD) is
not accepted or acceptable. Patient accepting this treatment modality should be aware that there is a
risk of aspiration. Retention with FRCB cannot reach the level of FPDs; more conservative
preparations and bonded nature FRCBs are two reasons worth noting. Patients should exercise care

Teaching and Learning Styles
It is evident that schools in the current society are filled with diversity whether it is culturally,
ethnically or socially (Montgomery Groat, 1998). All of these unique features can play a part in the
type of learning style the child prefers. The personality and genetic makeup of the learner also affects
the way in which they perceive and process information differently to other learners. (Gregorc, 1982)
According Ellis (1985, p.14) a learning style is the more or less consistent way in which a person
perceives, conceptualizes, organizes and recalls information. Therefore it is extremely vital that
teachers adapt their teaching styles within the classroom so that each child is able to gain full
knowledge of content taught and are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These types of learners go hand in hand with the different learning styles, all depending on the
individual themselves.
There are many subjects that do not fit all types of teaching styles, especially when reaching the later
grades in the educational environment. (Lemmer, Meier Van Wyk, 2006) However by this stage most
learners have been equipped with the necessary learning skills to understand and learn by the style that
best suits the subject. Science is a good example as to grasp the concepts of mixing chemicals or
gaining textual knowledge one needs to physically acquire such information by means of experiments
and examinations. In this type of subject reading material would not be enough to gain full
understanding. In universities where there are a great number of students lecturing is the best teaching
method as other teaching methods would fail due to allocated time, space and effectiveness. Yet
lecturing would not work in a Grade. 1 class as the children do not have the skills to understand need
more hands on, personal teaching. Therefore age, knowledge and ability influence the teaching style
an educator may use when teaching particular content. (Lemmer, Meier Van Wyk, 2006)
In conclusion it is inevitable that learners bring to the classroom a great diversity of learning styles. So
as for a teacher it is difficult to please all styles simultaneously, but if you vary the

We Must Live Streaming And Broadcasting
Introduction
Live streaming and broadcasting allow us to see what is happening around the world just as it
happens. The way live broadcasting is done now is completely different than how it was done in
previous years. First, only televisions could do live transmission because of the heavy and costly
equipment that was needed but with the boost in social media and technology, anyone can shoot,
upload and make the video go viral and reach out to the people by just using the mobile device. No
filters, no editing, just live rolling news or coverage, by everyone for everyone.
The audience gets most of their news from the internet and social media these days. Facebook,
YouTube, and Twitter all have introduced the Live feature. World Wide Worx MD, Arthur Goldstuck
said, Visual media is coming to dominate mobile usage, with both image based and video based
content accelerating in take up, and becoming the preferred medium for content, especially among
younger users. We will see many more innovations in how content is delivered to or from phones in
the coming years, as it will be seen as an opportunity for differentiation in an environment where the
physical form factor provides ever decreasing opportunities for doing so.

The Metal Body Of The Joroleman Mailbox Essay
Forming, separating, fabricating, and finishing processes are all used to produce the Joroleman
mailbox. The metal body of the Joroleman mailbox is the same as it was a 100 years ago, but the
hardware such as the latch, flag, and fasteners have changed as different materials have become
available. The traditional Joroleman mailbox has been in production for over a 100 years and is the
most popular mailbox in North America since it was first sold in 1915 according to the Smithsonian
National Postal Museum. It is named after its designer, Roy Joroleman, who worked for the United
States postal service and was a mechanical engineer. The original was made of a thin metal, has an
arched shaped roof, a rectangular base, red flag, latch and only requires two rivets, three axle bolts,
and four screws and nuts. It was never patented so any manufacturer can produce a Joroleman mailbox
as long as they follow the Postal Service guidelines. Depending on the volume being produced and the
technology available to the manufacturer will determine what process is used to create the mailbox.
(Bruns 1996) ZB Before the metal body of the mailbox can be made the industrial stock needs to be
produced. The production of the industrial stock is a primary manufacturing process. Sheet metal used
to make the mailbox is produced by a primary manufacturer that produces different types of steels
using raw materials such as iron and carbon (Duvall, 2012, pg. 136). The metal can be hot rolled or

Boundless Fluorine Essay
Introduction The elemental group F, Cl, Br, I, and At, located in the seventeenth column of the
periodic table, are known as Halogens. Halogens are nonmetals and they have an effective nuclear
charge, because of this they re highly electronegative. Due to their electronegativity, they re very
reactive and they gain electrons through reactions with other elements. However, halogens can be very
harmful or deadly to biological organisms. Physical properties of Halogens When the electron shells

The color of this element reflects the reactivity of it. The appearance is a very pale yellow green. This
element is a dangerously reactive gas. In fact it s one of the most reactive of all the elements and
reacts mostly to metals. An example of this is when steel wood is exposed to fluorine it bursts into
flames ( Fluorine Element Information, Properties and Uses | Periodic Table. Royal Society of
Chemistry). Which also explains why they used fluorine in the Second World War to help develop the
atom bomb and other projects having to do with that. It s also been used to help make gases for high
powered transformers. It s also used in teflon, cable insulation, plumbers tape, and a base for
waterproof shoes and clothes. Chlorine has a similar look to fluorine. Chlorine is a yellow green dense
gas. It has a very distinct smell to it and has been used as a chemical weapon. It also kills bacteria and
is used as a disinfectant. Chlorine disinfects drinking water and swimming pool water and is also used
in organic chemistry. It can be used as an oxidising agent and in substitution reactions. But in the past
it was used to make chloroform. Since chlorine is poisonous it was used as a chemical weapon during

Scene Analysis of Chicken Run Essay
Scene Analysis of Chicken Run
This essay will analyse three key scenes from the film Chicken Run. It will look at the characters that
are good and bad. In particular Ginger, the chicken who has the idea to escape from the chicken farm
on which they stay, and Mrs. Tweedy the owner of the chicken farm.
After many failed escape attempts the chickens are low on morale until a flying rooster from the circus
come to their rescue. But not everything runs smoothly and rocky the rooster can be suspected of fowl
play.
The first scene I am analysing is at the beginning where Ginger is escaping through a hole under the
fence. We only see Ginger as a silhouette until we see a close up of a big orange ... Show more content

Also Mrs. Tweedy has a very sniggering tone of voice that just adds to the evil and sinister character
being quickly built up in the space of five seconds.
The use of dark and shadows in the scene really helps us with the idea of who is good and who is bad.
In this scene the lighting is particularly harsh as Mrs. Tweedy is backlit in an unfriendly and somewhat
disturbing manor. Her face is in shadow that gives off a very negative vibe to her as a person.
The costume in this scene is very simple; Ginger simply wears a green knitted hat possibly, knitted by
Babs. Where as Mrs. Tweedy s clothing is quite contradictive as she is dressed in a pink dressing
gown and a pink frilly nightdress. Her face is in shadow so she looks garish and very cold hearted.
In this first scene we are quickly led to the assumption that Mrs. Tweedy is the boss and the chickens
are small and unimportant. We get a good guide as to who is a good character and who is a bad
character.
I n the second scene I am analysing is where Mrs. Tweedy is patrolling up and down the lines of
chickens who are stood arranged in whet can only be described as military style rows.
Many are stood quaking on the spot scared witless . The different styles of cinematography in this key
scene really help the audience to see the

Analysis Of The Dumb Waiter By Harold Pinter
Harold Pinter, renowned playwright and screenwriter, born in 1930 in East London to a Jewish tailor.
At the age of nine he was evacuated from his come in London and went to Cornwall due to World War
One. He became very successful in his later years as he gradually became an actor, director,
screenwriter and playwright, directing over 50 plays for stage, film and TV. He was involved in the

with the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2005.Harold Pinter died in 2008, Christmas eve at the age of 78
due to liver cancer.
Harold Pinter s work was influenced by Samuel Beckett who used silence to create different theatrical
effects. Pinter s themes can be subtle but effective, from the repetition of the newspaper and the
disturbance of Ben and Gus s routine before going on the job. Pinter used this technique in The Dumb
Waiter and many other plays he has written but in this case the silence is filled with thoughts of
violence. Ben and Gus who have to stay silent while on the job, watching their target given to them by

This program can be used in Year 2 as it clearly explains how to teach the essential mode of literacy
which covers reading. The lesson plan is designed so it can be used to explicitly teach reading using
different approaches like group discussion, modelling and role play, in which the teacher requires the
Year 2 students to participate through discussion. Using group discussion, the teacher will be able to

The Age Of Mccarthyism By Joseph Mccarthy
The Age of McCarthyism marks a sinister period of time consisting of convoluted accusations and
fabrication of a sensitive topic regarding communist infiltration within America. Joe McCarthy s
unfounded allegations naming supposed communist subversives instilled fear and anxiety among
Americans. This was exacerbated by the anxiety associated with the concerns of an escalating Cold
War. McCarthy was motivated by his political ambition and thus used the anti communist crusade as a
scapegoat, to benefit his political career. It became increasingly apparent that the accusations were
made against innocent individuals. Despite resorting to sensationalism and eventually lies to exploit

McCarthy persevered and pushed to successfully become appointed as Chairman of the Government
Committee on Operations of the Senate, which was crucial in broadening the scope of his powers to
investigate subversives. He questioned numerous government departments and the paranoia and fear
produced from the witch hunts and fear of subversives infiltrating America resulted in it being titled
McCarthyism . McCarthy eventually began to lose his popularity and influence over America during
October of 1953 due to his controversial accusations against the U.S Army. When president Dwight D.

people are uneducated when it comes to recommendations on how much sleep said individual needs

Many people start to believe that napping is a permanent solution to keeping themselves feeling awake
and alert. If one doesn t get enough sleep at night, they suddenly think, I can nap and I ll feel much
better. A common belief involves some thinking that naps improve alertness. A study by NASA found
that this is false. Participants in this study didn t report improved alertness, and did not find it easier to
focus. Both alertness and focus depends on the deep sleep you receive at night. So, although a nap
may feel refreshing during the day, remember, getting a sustainable amount of sleep each night is still
very important to keep in mind. Thus showing that naps are indeed beneficial, but not life changing.
Consequently, you can see why I believe that naps are beneficial, as long as you manage their length.
Therefore, I feel that avoiding longer naps is the biggest key point. In addition, I don t feel that you

All The Queen s Children Essay
Dr. Carole Levin outlines the aspects of Queen Elizabeth I s social perception as mother of her nation
and the Virgin Queen in her article All the Queen s Children: Elizabeth I and the Meaning of
Motherhood. I agree with Levin s analysis of Elizabeth s use of her public image as a political tool in
the examples she gives, and I extend her argument to Elizabeth s speeches and writings. Levin argues
that the inflammatory topic of Elizabeth s virginity and rumored children plagued her because she was
a powerful woman. Virginity and motherhood are both states of purity: motherhood is a purity of love,
and virginity is a purity of sexuality and spirituality. Both of these traits are ideal in the traditional
model of womanhood, but not seen as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe Levin is correct in emphasizing Elizabeth s maturity in handling the irrationality of the
public, and I add that one of Elizabeth s tactics to maintain her image was publishing her poetry.
Elizabeth s poem On Monsieur s Departure not only garners sympathy from readers, but also works in
her favor as a ruler. Instead of portraying herself as rigid and rejecting marriage entirely, Elizabeth
humanizes herself to the public by writing about the pain of a lost love. Revealing her romantic
emotions while ultimately never marrying conveys a clear message to her subjects: Elizabeth will only
marry if it is beneficial or necessary to them, even if it hurts her heart to refuse. Elizabeth reveals her
pain when she does not marry the subject of the poem because it was not in the kingdom s best
interest, and plays to stereotypes about women s emotional and romantic nature, supporting Levin s
observation of her social

Evidence based practice (EBP) offers a framework utilization of systematic high quality research, an
analysis which consistently enhances measurable client outcome and clinical decision making
grounded in rationality; EBP depends on data collected through experimental research and accounts
for individual client characteristics and clinician expertise. The potential benefits of EBP comprise of
increased service delivery and quality of care, heightened accountability, and a bridging of the

How Did Bill Gates And Steve Jobs Change The World
Essay 4 Research Paper: How Did Bill Gates and Steve Jobs Change the World?
Without innovators, without people daring to take risks and pushing the boundaries, without people
trying to move/change the world, society does not progress. Innovators are people that have this crazy
idea in their head and go out into this world to make their idea come to life. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs
had this idea of taking a simple computer software program and turning it into a business that protects
everybody s privacy from hackers. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs instead made something better, and that
was Microsoft. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs changed the world.
After about three years in college, Gates decided to make a computer software program company with
Steve Jobs. In 1975, Gates dropped out of Harvard just one year before he graduated and went on to
form his company. Even though both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs did not graduate from college their
personalities and emotions lead themselves towards computers, and its components took them far.
Bill Gates affected a lot of American history through his impact on technology. Bill Gates had a lot of
positive and negative criticism during his time working with computers. Bill Gates had his first big
major opportunity with computers when he was 14 years of age. Both Bill Gates parents saw he was
doing extremely well in a public school with his grades, so they sent him off to a private school . In

Nowadays, in almost every theme park, there is a special ride called Roller coaster. The question here
is, how does it work and why are people addicted to it.
The movement of a rollercoaster relies on two types of energies: Gravitational Potential Energy (GPE)
and Kinetic Energy (KE). GPE is a stored energy due to gravity (Potential Kinetic Energy, 2015). (KE
is an energy of motion (Kinetic energy, 2015).
Potential energy (PE) is stored energy, has potential to do work.

GPE due to the frictions, which occur during the movement of the

Narration In Wuthering Heights
The Narration of Wuthering Heights This research paper propose to portray the different forms of
narration in Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. The narrative style that Brontë uses is unique. It
includes multiple points of views. The reader is two times away from the events, sometimes three
times. In the beginning Lockwood narrates the events in a diary form, then he starts telling the events
from Nelly s point of view. When Nelly s narration starts as a witness on the events of the past the
readers are two steps removed from the events. But when she narrates events that other characters told
her, the readers are 3 steps away from the story. However, such narrative distance doesn t make the
readers emotionally distant from characters or events. Brontë uses different narrators that leads to the

example of a meaningless life; it is like chasing after the wind because it s pointless and no use, it isn t
beneficial. This is disappointing to know because I think that life can be meaningful if you make the
best out of it. Try your best in everything and don t give up, don t be lazy and actually try contributing
to this world because a lot of things could surprise you. In Life Shaping Decisions , it states that God
has a plan for everyone and we should follow it, or else you will be tragically disappointed. Solomon
told this in a perspective most people pursue in life, which is a interest centered life. In Life Shaping
Decisions it tells us that doing whatever interests isn t always the smartest way to go, you have to
consider other things. The person in the story just did whatever he wanted to do and at the end he felt
empty and that everything was meaningless. This is because he didn t accept God into his life, so he
didn t follow God s plan. The parable in

Evaluation Of The Remote Laboratory Emulation System
1. Goal Lab 01, being the first lab, facilitated the initial creation of our VMware vApp along with our
preliminary network within. The main goal of the lab was to familiarize oneself with the Remote
Laboratory Emulation System (RLES) and create a basic network utilizing the system. The basic
network we created with RLES had 4 requirements: a pfSense router, a Red Hat Enterprise Linux
(RHEL) 7 server, a monitoring solution, and a wiki. By installing and configuring these operating
systems / services, I was able to better familiarize myself with both RLES and the services
themselves. An important part of creating and administering a network is the selection of what
services and operating systems to use. Some choices were specified in the lab instructions, such as the
requirement to use RHEL 7, while others were left for me to decide as the System Administrator. For
the router, I went with the suggested option of pfSense, and learned both how to install and configure
the OS. My next action was to install and configure a Wiki so I could document all following installs.
I chose to create a separate VM for the wiki running Ubuntu 14.04 as I am most familiar with this OS.
The wiki solution itself I chose to install was MediaWiki, thus I learned how to install and configure
said service. The final server I configured was a RHEL 7 machine, as specified in the lab. I chose
Nagios 4 as my monitoring solution, and the learning curve was quite steep, but achievable. Besides

Water Molecules Research Paper
Why is water an important molecule? Intermolecular Forces
Water is one of the most important molecules as it creates and supports life on earth. Water covers
75% of the surface of the earth and around 78% of the mass of the human body (infoplease.com,
2000). Its abundance, unique properties, chemical and physical interaction are the reason behind its
importance. The chemical composition of water is H2O. It is a polar, covalently bonded molecule.
A covalently bonded molecule shares electrons between the atoms so each atoms outer shell is full.
Covalently bonded molecules are not partially charged, except for polar covalent bonds. Molecules
with polar covalent bonds have partial charges. Within the water molecule, the oxygen atoms unevenly
share the electrons since they have more protons. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Water can also be found in all three states of matter naturally on Earth because it has a low melting
and boiling point, due its covalent bonds. Cohesion is when molecules are more attracted to each other
than the surrounding molecules. Dipole Dipole forces and hydrogen bonds are responsible for
cohesion. Adhesion the opposite of cohesion, when there is a greater electronegativity difference
between other molecules than themselves. Figure 4. Diagram of meniscus and capillary action of
water due to cohesion and adhesion (study.com, 2016)
Capillary action is a process where water molecules climb up a narrow tube / material due to kinetic
energy and a combination of cohesive and adhesive forces. Refer to appendix 1 for an experiment
demonstrating this. Surface tension is the result of a high concentration of bonds on the surface of
water. When water molecules have nothing to bond with above their surface, they concentrate forming
a barrier. Figure 5. Intermolecular forces on the surface and body of water (Wikimedia,

Spoken Language Essay
Explore some of the similarities and differences between the language young people use in their
spoken language and how young people communicate on web based communication such as MSN and
Facebook. The world has changed greatly over the years. The language has evolved and culture has
changed, mostly due to the large increase in the number of people who use mobile phones and social
networking sites, such as MSN and Facebook. Especially the younger generation that have developed
a new form of communication that s not Standard English which we have called slang . I am going to
analyse an MSN conversation between two boys named JJ and Pete and a girl called Kat22 . In this
online conversation, the two boys are talking about going to a ... Show more content on

You will find that punctuation is rarely used in most texts and if there is any then it will occur
randomly or be over used throughout the conversation because at the end of the day there are no rules
to online communication. Consequently, there are lots of concerns about online communication use
and its potential dangers. John Humphrys says, It s pillaging our punctuation; savaging our sentences;
raping our vocabulary. I agree with him as text speak is slowly taking over our Standard English, more
than ever now as nearly everyone has a mobile device. One of the major disadvantages about text
speak is that since it is not standard, there are no single spelling for some words and as different
people have different texting styles, one might misunderstand the message and feel offended due to
this misinterpretation. In addition to this, when people write text messages in text speak, they often
lose depth and meaning, sadly people often forget how to write in Standard English using correct,
standard spelling and grammar. Also, more and more people are using their mobile phones all the
time; this could possibly lead to anxiety as they are constantly checking their phones for any new
texts/notifications etc. Texting and typing too much can lead to repetitive stress injury which isn t
something that young people should have. Likewise, some teenagers may

Sociological Concepts Of Family, Gender, And Identity Essay
This essay discusses the way in which I understand the sociological concepts of family, gender and
race nuclear family, doing gender, and identity, in particular. Arguably, these three concepts can relate
to each individuals life, through different personal experiences. To demonstrate my argument, I
highlight relevant situations in my own life that further explain my chosen sociological concepts.
The first concept I chose to focus on is family. In particular, the idea of the nuclear family .
A nuclear family is defined as: A couple and their dependent children, regarded as a basic social unit.
My research of this concept will focus on the theories of two sociologists George Peter Murdock, and
Talcott Parsons. George Murdock s theory suggests that there are four essential functions of an ideal
family. 1. Stable satisfaction of the sex drive, 2. The biological reproduction of the next generation, 3.
Socialisation of the young, 4. Meeting its members economic needs (Thompson, 2014). According to
Murdock, these four components are what keep the structure of the basic family unit intact, and by
achieving these four functions create an ideal family model. An opposing theory is Talcott Parson s
functional fit theory. Parson suggests that as society evolves, alternative forms of family life become
more accepted. Society has progressed so much that single parents providing for their children is as
normal as a nuclear family, and there tends to be less need for extended

Comparison Between Othello And Emilia
Perkins 1
Jonathan Perkins
Professor Barbara Russell
COM1102
1 August 2014 Compare and Contrast Desdemona and Emilia in Othello In the play Othello , by
William Shakespeare, there are two significant ladylike assumes that draw in our consideration. One is
the wife of the play s tragic saint Othello; the other is locked in to one of the best malevolent
individuals ever Iago. They are an imperative piece of what goes ahead in the play and inevitably how
the genuine issue of the play is settled. These two females of the play might be investigated in various
ways. To start, both Desdemona and Emilia are the wives of men of activity. Their spouses are in the
Venetian military and standard men as well as men who hold positions and quality. Desdemona is the
wife of Othello who is a General in the armed force with men under his charge. Emilia s spouse is
Iago who is the extremely old of Othello. Next, the two women demonstrate a level of not knowing
anything about the plots in play around them. Unknowingly both Desdemona and Emilia play directly
into Iago s expert arrangement of pulverization. Desdemona and Emilia are likewise faithful wives
who need to satisfy their spouses. Othello accepts that Desdemona is improperly sexual and ; along
these lines Desdemona needs to quiet down his stresses concerning her faithfulness by cooling him,
thusly satisfying him. Desdemona guarantees: I never did Perkins 2 Offend you in my life;

Public Health Vs. Federal Law
PUBLIC HEALTH GOVERNENCE (STATE Vs. FEDERAL)
For a long time, mandatory immunizations on populations have been debatable with respect to public
health law in the United States. One argued topic is whether the level of authority to administer such
mandates resides at the federal or state or state level. An analysis of the United States Constitution
provides some clarity. The role of the Federal Government is somewhat limited with regards to public
health, and its role marks a clear distinction from state and local authority over health matters. The
Commerce Clause, within Article I of the United States Constitution, gives federal jurisdiction over
certain public health issues. It states that Congress shall have the power to regulate commerce with
foreign nationals, and among the several states. (CITE CONSTITUTION). This limited authority
allows federal agencies to introduce and administer regulations to prevent the spread of communicable
diseases from foreign countries and between the states, as in quarantine. However, no mandatory
vaccination programs or regulations regarding the implementation of a mandatory vaccination
program exist at this level. (CITE SWENDIMAN p.7). The 10th Amendment of the United States
Constitution provides the authority by which states draft and implement public health policy and
effort. It states, The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it
to the States, are reserved to the States

POWER STRATEGIES FOR MIDDLE MANAGERS

Introduction
Power is a difficult concept for many individuals in western democratic ... Show more content on

Power is not without its temptations. At one time or another many of us have harbored a secret fantasy
to club that lethargic laggard between the eyes so he will understand what needs to get done. Some
upper level managers with a reservoir of power could actually do so. History and literature, including
management literature, are replete with notorious examples of power abuse and the disasters that
emanated from them. If managers lack this historical perspective, or an engrained sense of ethics, they
must hope that at least the rudder of their own temperament will guide them successfully. Without any
of these supports, a myopic mindset may impel them to use their power in destructive ways,
eventually dissipating it.
Other top level managers can shoulder burdens and deliver results in more subtle fashion. They have
learned that power abuse can curtail effectiveness. They know the downside risks of unilateral
imposition and have acquired the expertise, experience and empathy to avoid these pitfalls.
Experience can instill appreciation for unintended consequences, and training can imbue ethical
precepts. Many scholars attribute the long term durability of organizations, and even whole societies,
to successful managerial preparation for power deployment. When they wield power well, users of
power usually garner the nimbus of leadership.

Review Of The Bacchae, The Aeneid, And Book 15 Of...
Within the societies of ancient Greece and Rome, there was a plethora of regimes, Caesars, and
empires at the helm of everyday life. The political sphere encountered in the daily routines of ancient
Greeks and Romans gave influence to the multitude of literary works produced in these societies. The
works of Euripides, Virgil, and Ovid gave a vehicle for these writers to infuse commentary about the
politics of the day. Politics is how groups of people organize making decisions that affect the
individuals contained within said groups. The Bacchae, the Aeneid, and Book 15 of Metamorphoses
all contain commentary concerning politics within their content. In Euripides the Bacchae, the city of
Thebes is shown to have a system of political inheritance as Pentheus is given control over the city by
his grandfather Cadmus, the founder of the city. The god Dionysus is also a grandson of Cadmus, yet
is not chosen to be the heir to Thebes, which creates a rivalry between Dionysus and Pentheus.
Pentheus does not allow Dionysus into the city of Thebes or give recognition to Dionysus at all.
Dionysus and Pentheus both wish to establish their own political rule over the city of Thebes.
Pentheus attempts to rule Thebes in an Apollonian fashion. The women brought to Thebes by
Dionysus are put under arrest at the order of Pentheus, due to the drunken partying they were having
due to Dionysus powers. The women s party went against the social order enforced by the city of
Thebes, and Dionysus

  • 2. The Trials And Tribulations Of A Transformational Leader... The Trials Tribulations of a Transformational Leader Brandon Kent ASU, PAF 410 September 22, 2016 Throughout time, many books and papers have been written to study the birthplace of leadership failure, its causes, results, and ultimately, the best way to oversea these situations to avoid future failures. Some leadership experts, may argue that the best way to learn how to lead, is to study successful leadership outcomes and more importantly, how former miscalculations were committed and as a result, what gran plan was used that resulted in the leaders turnaround success. To be a great leader, the individual has to be cognate of what elements, including external and internal impact, resulted in their failure, as well as, how to avoid leadership oversight in the future. In this paper, I will attempt to do just that, as I will incorporate the transactional and transformational leadership theory from this course and apply them to the leadership failures of one of the most entertaining leadership failures of all time: the DeLorean Motor Company. From a business perspective, the ramifications of leadership failure differ in size depending on the severity of the situation. If market conditions are fixed and the competitive atmosphere is not extraordinarily punishing, leadership failures may not be that bad for the business. If, however, the market is going through dramatic change, which demands equally dramatic change in the organization, failure to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On Masculinity In Huck Finn Since the Frontier era in American history masculinity has evolved from simply being an advanced Neanderthal, someone who is an adventurous, strong, outdoorsman that provides for, and protects his family to that of a well mannered, kempt aristocrat by the end to turn of the 19th century. While reading many early Romanticism, Transcendentalism, and Realism works have you ever noticed authors views are predominantly parallel with the society and time in which they lived? American authors (men/woman) where thought of as revolutionary with their popular, well noted works, but their gender ideals stem from society s views rather than their own perceptions. Without societies stipulations, these early authors could have been even more significant and influential than they already are thought to be. The most well noted early American authors all have one big, sometimes unrealized bias. That bias is gender. Authors such as Mark Twain, Walt Whitman, and Henry James all follow this unintentional norm in the way that they have represented masculinity through their works. The most popular frontier author, Mark Twain, represents an early and more simplistic male view through his work The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn . Through Huck s adventures Twain is able to capture the early, simplistic forms of masculinity. Huck was always exploring But the next day I went exploring around down through the island. Many are small in size but still relate to many of the late predecessors that had once ruled the planet. Yes, lizards are the animal that are being mentioned and talked about. Lizards are a well adapted, variety of species that still contain anatomy from the Mesozoic Era and still are an important part of the ecosystem. The two most common lizards in California are the night lizards and the fence lizard. These two species have sub species from them; however, they both have a similar body structure but have very different habitats when compared to each other. If these lizards were ... With it, reptiles have advantages and disadvantages. In the winter a lizard will restrict blood flow through their lungs in order to save energy as they hibernate (Dowling). Having only a three chambered heart puts a large restraint on the amount of heat that is produced inside the body. Similar to those of the past reptiles, lizards will tend to colonize in open areas where there is a large amount of direct sunlight. Direct sunlight will greatly warm a reptile s body so that they can perform their basic metabolic functions with more ease. The blood pressure of a lizard is also very low due to their hearts; as a result, lizards have grown to not need a continuous food supply but still eat in bulk like their predecessor(Dowling). In many cases, lizards that have a diet of an herbivore located in dessert biomes have been found to eat cactus fruit and low growing flowers. With the integration of plants into their diet, lizards easily control small plant populations throughout many desserts of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Replacement Of A Single Tooth Introduction: The replacement of a single tooth lost due to dental caries or trauma can be challenging for a clinician. Traditionally several options are indicated in order to restore the edentulous space including implant/crown, fixed partial dentures (FPD) or removable partial denture (RPD). However economic factors, occlusal disturbances, lack of adequate bone support or excessive removal of healthy dental structure are some of the limiting factors in the traditional treatment modalities. One approach that is overlooked and may serve as a good treatment modality is the Fiber Reinforced Composite Bridge (FRCB). FRCBs are minimally invasive and economic treatment modalities that can be utilized to replace of a missing tooth and restore an edentulous space. The ideal site for a conservative FRCB is an edentulous space spanning one to two teeth. Other considerations include occlusion or the bite relation, periodontal status, oral hygiene, and the status of abutment teeth. It should be noted that this modality of treatment is the not the most ideal modaility of treatment however, it does provide an alternative approach if the ideal modality (Implant/Crown, FPD, RPD) is not accepted or acceptable. Patient accepting this treatment modality should be aware that there is a risk of aspiration. Retention with FRCB cannot reach the level of FPDs; more conservative preparations and bonded nature FRCBs are two reasons worth noting. Patients should exercise care chewing directly ... • 6. Teaching and Learning Styles It is evident that schools in the current society are filled with diversity whether it is culturally, ethnically or socially (Montgomery Groat, 1998). All of these unique features can play a part in the type of learning style the child prefers. The personality and genetic makeup of the learner also affects the way in which they perceive and process information differently to other learners. (Gregorc, 1982) According Ellis (1985, p.14) a learning style is the more or less consistent way in which a person perceives, conceptualizes, organizes and recalls information. Therefore it is extremely vital that teachers adapt their teaching styles within the classroom so that each child is able to gain full knowledge of content taught and are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These types of learners go hand in hand with the different learning styles, all depending on the individual themselves. There are many subjects that do not fit all types of teaching styles, especially when reaching the later grades in the educational environment. (Lemmer, Meier Van Wyk, 2006) However by this stage most learners have been equipped with the necessary learning skills to understand and learn by the style that best suits the subject. Science is a good example as to grasp the concepts of mixing chemicals or gaining textual knowledge one needs to physically acquire such information by means of experiments and examinations. In this type of subject reading material would not be enough to gain full understanding. In universities where there are a great number of students lecturing is the best teaching method as other teaching methods would fail due to allocated time, space and effectiveness. Yet lecturing would not work in a Grade. 1 class as the children do not have the skills to understand need more hands on, personal teaching. Therefore age, knowledge and ability influence the teaching style an educator may use when teaching particular content. (Lemmer, Meier Van Wyk, 2006) In conclusion it is inevitable that learners bring to the classroom a great diversity of learning styles. So as for a teacher it is difficult to please all styles simultaneously, but if you vary the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The way live broadcasting is done now is completely different than how it was done in previous years. First, only televisions could do live transmission because of the heavy and costly equipment that was needed but with the boost in social media and technology, anyone can shoot, upload and make the video go viral and reach out to the people by just using the mobile device. No filters, no editing, just live rolling news or coverage, by everyone for everyone. The audience gets most of their news from the internet and social media these days. Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter all have introduced the Live feature. World Wide Worx MD, Arthur Goldstuck said, Visual media is coming to dominate mobile usage, with both image based and video based content accelerating in take up, and becoming the preferred medium for content, especially among younger users. We will see many more innovations in how content is delivered to or from phones in the coming years, as it will be seen as an opportunity for differentiation in an environment where the physical form factor provides ever decreasing opportunities for doing so. The metal body of the Joroleman mailbox is the same as it was a 100 years ago, but the hardware such as the latch, flag, and fasteners have changed as different materials have become available. The traditional Joroleman mailbox has been in production for over a 100 years and is the most popular mailbox in North America since it was first sold in 1915 according to the Smithsonian National Postal Museum. It is named after its designer, Roy Joroleman, who worked for the United States postal service and was a mechanical engineer. The original was made of a thin metal, has an arched shaped roof, a rectangular base, red flag, latch and only requires two rivets, three axle bolts, and four screws and nuts. It was never patented so any manufacturer can produce a Joroleman mailbox as long as they follow the Postal Service guidelines. Depending on the volume being produced and the technology available to the manufacturer will determine what process is used to create the mailbox. (Bruns 1996) ZB Before the metal body of the mailbox can be made the industrial stock needs to be produced. The production of the industrial stock is a primary manufacturing process. Halogens are nonmetals and they have an effective nuclear charge, because of this they re highly electronegative. Due to their electronegativity, they re very reactive and they gain electrons through reactions with other elements. However, halogens can be very harmful or deadly to biological organisms. Which also explains why they used fluorine in the Second World War to help develop the atom bomb and other projects having to do with that. It s also been used to help make gases for high powered transformers. It s also used in teflon, cable insulation, plumbers tape, and a base for waterproof shoes and clothes. Chlorine has a similar look to fluorine. Chlorine is a yellow green dense gas. It has a very distinct smell to it and has been used as a chemical weapon. It also kills bacteria and is used as a disinfectant. Chlorine disinfects drinking water and swimming pool water and is also used in organic chemistry. After many failed escape attempts the chickens are low on morale until a flying rooster from the circus come to their rescue. Also Mrs. Tweedy has a very sniggering tone of voice that just adds to the evil and sinister character being quickly built up in the space of five seconds. The use of dark and shadows in the scene really helps us with the idea of who is good and who is bad. In this scene the lighting is particularly harsh as Mrs. Tweedy is backlit in an unfriendly and somewhat disturbing manor. Her face is in shadow that gives off a very negative vibe to her as a person. The costume in this scene is very simple; Ginger simply wears a green knitted hat possibly, knitted by Babs. Where as Mrs. Tweedy s clothing is quite contradictive as she is dressed in a pink dressing gown and a pink frilly nightdress. Her face is in shadow so she looks garish and very cold hearted. In this first scene we are quickly led to the assumption that Mrs. Tweedy is the boss and the chickens are small and unimportant. We get a good guide as to who is a good character and who is a bad character. I n the second scene I am analysing is where Mrs. Tweedy is patrolling up and down the lines of chickens who are stood arranged in whet can only be described as military style rows. I agree with Levin s analysis of Elizabeth s use of her public image as a political tool in the examples she gives, and I extend her argument to Elizabeth s speeches and writings. Levin argues that the inflammatory topic of Elizabeth s virginity and rumored children plagued her because she was a powerful woman. Instead of portraying herself as rigid and rejecting marriage entirely, Elizabeth humanizes herself to the public by writing about the pain of a lost love. Revealing her romantic emotions while ultimately never marrying conveys a clear message to her subjects: Elizabeth will only marry if it is beneficial or necessary to them, even if it hurts her heart to refuse. Without innovators, without people daring to take risks and pushing the boundaries, without people trying to move/change the world, society does not progress. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs had this idea of taking a simple computer software program and turning it into a business that protects everybody s privacy from hackers. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs instead made something better, and that was Microsoft. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs changed the world. After about three years in college, Gates decided to make a computer software program company with Steve Jobs. In 1975, Gates dropped out of Harvard just one year before he graduated and went on to form his company. Even though both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs did not graduate from college their personalities and emotions lead themselves towards computers, and its components took them far. The movement of a rollercoaster relies on two types of energies: Gravitational Potential Energy (GPE) and Kinetic Energy (KE). GPE is a stored energy due to gravity (Potential Kinetic Energy, 2015). GPE energy will transform into KE while the cart is moving but it can t be the same amount due to the wasted energy. As we can see from the graph, GPE is slightly larger than KE. Moreover, GP and KE depend on mass and the velocity doesn t depend on mass so if the height is the same, the velocity is constant. Some energy is wasted as heat and sound makes the KE is less than GPE. According to the Law of conservation of energy, there is no wasted energy in terms of transformation between GPE and KE but as can be seen from the table 2, KE is slightly smaller than GPE due to the frictions, which occur during the movement of the ... • 20. Narration In Wuthering Heights The Narration of Wuthering Heights This research paper propose to portray the different forms of narration in Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. The narrative style that Brontë uses is unique. It includes multiple points of views. The reader is two times away from the events, sometimes three times. In the beginning Lockwood narrates the events in a diary form, then he starts telling the events from Nelly s point of view. When Nelly s narration starts as a witness on the events of the past the readers are two steps removed from the events. But when she narrates events that other characters told her, the readers are 3 steps away from the story. However, such narrative distance doesn t make the readers emotionally distant from characters or events. Brontë uses different narrators that leads to the use of different literary techniques to keep the readers close and connected to the events. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lockwood is a practical, sophisticated, educated, rich gentlemen. He is a city man, an outsider. While Nelly is a clever, sharp, self educated servant. She is a local country woman. She has never left the Wuthering Heights, Thrushcross Grange and the Gimmerton area. This makes Nelly belong to the Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange while the outsider Lockwood never does. Thus, the narrative is balanced between these two narrators. The outsider s narration build the frame of the story and Nelly s narration gives the core of the story. Also, there is a balance between the male point of view of the outsider and the female point of view of the witness on events. Yet, Nelly is the primary narrator. She is a part of the events, and she is an expeditor of key events. Thus, Nelly requires more attention than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Meaningless Life In Ecclesiastes After I read Ecclesiastes, I learned that everything is meaningless if you don t believe in God. Our hearts still have a hole in it and only God could fill up that emptiness in our lives. According to the writer, he hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to...[him]. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. (Ecclesiastes 2:1 26). This proves that life without God is meaningless and empty, you would hate life because there isn t a meaning to it. The quote gives us an example of a meaningless life; it is like chasing after the wind because it s pointless and no use, it isn t beneficial. This is disappointing to know because I think that life can be meaningful if you make the best out of it. Try your best in everything and don t give up, don t be lazy and actually try contributing to this world because a lot of things could surprise you. In Life Shaping Decisions , it states that God has a plan for everyone and we should follow it, or else you will be tragically disappointed. Solomon told this in a perspective most people pursue in life, which is a interest centered life. In Life Shaping Decisions it tells us that doing whatever interests isn t always the smartest way to go, you have to consider other things. The person in the story just did whatever he wanted to do and at the end he felt empty and that everything was meaningless. This is because he didn t accept God into his life, so he didn t follow God s plan. The parable in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Evaluation Of The Remote Laboratory Emulation System 1. Goal Lab 01, being the first lab, facilitated the initial creation of our VMware vApp along with our preliminary network within. The main goal of the lab was to familiarize oneself with the Remote Laboratory Emulation System (RLES) and create a basic network utilizing the system. The basic network we created with RLES had 4 requirements: a pfSense router, a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 server, a monitoring solution, and a wiki. By installing and configuring these operating systems / services, I was able to better familiarize myself with both RLES and the services themselves. An important part of creating and administering a network is the selection of what services and operating systems to use. Some choices were specified in the lab instructions, such as the requirement to use RHEL 7, while others were left for me to decide as the System Administrator. For the router, I went with the suggested option of pfSense, and learned both how to install and configure the OS. My next action was to install and configure a Wiki so I could document all following installs. I chose to create a separate VM for the wiki running Ubuntu 14.04 as I am most familiar with this OS. The wiki solution itself I chose to install was MediaWiki, thus I learned how to install and configure said service. The final server I configured was a RHEL 7 machine, as specified in the lab. I chose Nagios 4 as my monitoring solution, and the learning curve was quite steep, but achievable. Besides learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Water Molecules Research Paper Why is water an important molecule? Intermolecular Forces Water is one of the most important molecules as it creates and supports life on earth. Water covers 75% of the surface of the earth and around 78% of the mass of the human body (infoplease.com, 2000). Its abundance, unique properties, chemical and physical interaction are the reason behind its importance. The chemical composition of water is H2O. It is a polar, covalently bonded molecule. A covalently bonded molecule shares electrons between the atoms so each atoms outer shell is full. Covalently bonded molecules are not partially charged, except for polar covalent bonds. Molecules with polar covalent bonds have partial charges. Within the water molecule, the oxygen atoms unevenly share the electrons since they have more protons. The ... Consequently, there are lots of concerns about online communication use and its potential dangers. John Humphrys says, It s pillaging our punctuation; savaging our sentences; raping our vocabulary. I agree with him as text speak is slowly taking over our Standard English, more than ever now as nearly everyone has a mobile device. One of the major disadvantages about text speak is that since it is not standard, there are no single spelling for some words and as different people have different texting styles, one might misunderstand the message and feel offended due to this misinterpretation. In addition to this, when people write text messages in text speak, they often lose depth and meaning, sadly people often forget how to write in Standard English using correct, standard spelling and grammar. Also, more and more people are using their mobile phones all the time; this could possibly lead to anxiety as they are constantly checking their phones for any new texts/notifications etc. Texting and typing too much can lead to repetitive stress injury which isn t something that young people should have. • 26. Sociological Concepts Of Family, Gender, And Identity Essay This essay discusses the way in which I understand the sociological concepts of family, gender and race nuclear family, doing gender, and identity, in particular. Arguably, these three concepts can relate to each individuals life, through different personal experiences. To demonstrate my argument, I highlight relevant situations in my own life that further explain my chosen sociological concepts. The first concept I chose to focus on is family. In particular, the idea of the nuclear family . A nuclear family is defined as: A couple and their dependent children, regarded as a basic social unit. My research of this concept will focus on the theories of two sociologists George Peter Murdock, and Talcott Parsons. George Murdock s theory suggests that there are four essential functions of an ideal family. 1. Stable satisfaction of the sex drive, 2. The biological reproduction of the next generation, 3. Socialisation of the young, 4. Meeting its members economic needs (Thompson, 2014). According to Murdock, these four components are what keep the structure of the basic family unit intact, and by achieving these four functions create an ideal family model. An opposing theory is Talcott Parson s functional fit theory. Parson suggests that as society evolves, alternative forms of family life become more accepted. Society has progressed so much that single parents providing for their children is as normal as a nuclear family, and there tends to be less need for extended ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One is the wife of the play s tragic saint Othello; the other is locked in to one of the best malevolent individuals ever Iago. They are an imperative piece of what goes ahead in the play and inevitably how the genuine issue of the play is settled. These two females of the play might be investigated in various ways. To start, both Desdemona and Emilia are the wives of men of activity. Their spouses are in the Venetian military and standard men as well as men who hold positions and quality. Desdemona is the wife of Othello who is a General in the armed force with men under his charge. Emilia s spouse is Iago who is the extremely old of Othello. Next, the two women demonstrate a level of not knowing anything about the plots in play around them. Unknowingly both Desdemona and Emilia play directly into Iago s expert arrangement of pulverization. Desdemona and Emilia are likewise faithful wives who need to satisfy their spouses. • 29. Public Health Vs. Federal Law PUBLIC HEALTH GOVERNENCE (STATE Vs. FEDERAL) For a long time, mandatory immunizations on populations have been debatable with respect to public health law in the United States. One argued topic is whether the level of authority to administer such mandates resides at the federal or state or state level. An analysis of the United States Constitution provides some clarity. The role of the Federal Government is somewhat limited with regards to public health, and its role marks a clear distinction from state and local authority over health matters. The Commerce Clause, within Article I of the United States Constitution, gives federal jurisdiction over certain public health issues. It states that Congress shall have the power to regulate commerce with foreign nationals, and among the several states. (CITE CONSTITUTION). This limited authority allows federal agencies to introduce and administer regulations to prevent the spread of communicable diseases from foreign countries and between the states, as in quarantine. However, no mandatory vaccination programs or regulations regarding the implementation of a mandatory vaccination program exist at this level. (CITE SWENDIMAN p.7). The 10th Amendment of the United States Constitution provides the authority by which states draft and implement public health policy and effort. It states, The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At one time or another many of us have harbored a secret fantasy to club that lethargic laggard between the eyes so he will understand what needs to get done. Some upper level managers with a reservoir of power could actually do so. History and literature, including management literature, are replete with notorious examples of power abuse and the disasters that emanated from them. If managers lack this historical perspective, or an engrained sense of ethics, they must hope that at least the rudder of their own temperament will guide them successfully. Without any of these supports, a myopic mindset may impel them to use their power in destructive ways, eventually dissipating it. Other top level managers can shoulder burdens and deliver results in more subtle fashion. They have learned that power abuse can curtail effectiveness. They know the downside risks of unilateral

  • 32. Review Of The Bacchae, The Aeneid, And Book 15 Of... Within the societies of ancient Greece and Rome, there was a plethora of regimes, Caesars, and empires at the helm of everyday life. The political sphere encountered in the daily routines of ancient Greeks and Romans gave influence to the multitude of literary works produced in these societies. The works of Euripides, Virgil, and Ovid gave a vehicle for these writers to infuse commentary about the politics of the day. Politics is how groups of people organize making decisions that affect the individuals contained within said groups. The Bacchae, the Aeneid, and Book 15 of Metamorphoses all contain commentary concerning politics within their content. In Euripides the Bacchae, the city of Thebes is shown to have a system of political inheritance as Pentheus is given control over the city by his grandfather Cadmus, the founder of the city. The god Dionysus is also a grandson of Cadmus, yet is not chosen to be the heir to Thebes, which creates a rivalry between Dionysus and Pentheus. Pentheus does not allow Dionysus into the city of Thebes or give recognition to Dionysus at all. Dionysus and Pentheus both wish to establish their own political rule over the city of Thebes. Pentheus attempts to rule Thebes in an Apollonian fashion. The women brought to Thebes by Dionysus are put under arrest at the order of Pentheus, due to the drunken partying they were having due to Dionysus powers.
