2. Chinese Porcelain Jar
The art work that I picked is a still life of the Chinese Porcelain Jar. The painter of the art piece is
Willem Kalf. The era that it is focused on is the Dutch Golden era. He was born in 1619 and died in
1693. In this art work he painted a Chinese Porcelain bowl, he painted a table cloth, a variety of fruits,
silver and gold vessels. In other paintings he would use other foods like vegetables, be would also use
cooking supplies, like pots and pans.
For his still life paintings he would often use the same objects as in other paintings. He would often
use the color blue for bowls and jars. He sometimes used for fruits on his paintings, but mostly
repeated an orange and a lemon. He also used table cloths, glasses, and vessels, but in different

3. Profiling And Drug-Law Enforcement
One of the eight most important indicators pertaining to profiling and drug law enforcement was the
act of purchasing airline tickets with cash. Needless to say, the purchase of airline tickets with cash
brings attention to self. Regardless to travel near or far, people usually go online and purchase their
tickets in advance using a credit card for security purposes and conformation. Naturally, when
traveling, people carry less cash as possible because of the high rate of crime. Unfortunately, Andrew
Sokolow, a young African American brought attention to himself because of his appearance, purchase
of a forty eight hour trip from one destination to another paying with cash, and excessive nervousness
(Levinthal, C. F. 2012). Therefore, when you are paying with cash and showing signs of nervousness,
suspicion falls upon you and people automatically feel you have the intention to harm others or
intention of drug trafficking. None the less, Sokolow was traveling under a false name. Consequently,
the tragedy on September 11, 2001, and the loss of more than 3,000 lives were due to ineffective
airport security. However, profiling, based on both the behavior and appearance of airline passengers,
provides a vital tool that effectively and efficiently increases airport ... Show more content on

4. The Torture Myth, by Anne Applebaum
In the article, The Torture Myth, Anne Applebaum explores the controversial topic of torture practices,
focused primarily in The United States. The article was published on January 12, 2005, inspired by the
dramatic increase of tensions between terrorist organizations and The United States. Applebaum
explores three equality titillating concepts within the article. Applebaum s questions the actual
effectiveness of using torture as a means of obtaining valuable information in urgent times.
Applebaum explores the ways in which she feels that the United States torture policy ultimately
produces negative effects upon the country. Applebaum s final question is if torture is not optimally
successful, why so much of society believes it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have been unable to deliberate on the appropriate alternative method for this particular dilemma.
When it comes to the topic of torture, the popular attitude is that it is sometimes required. Where this
agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of ethics and efficiency. Whereas some are
convinced that it is an effective policy, others maintain that it is not successful practice. To further
support the stance that the torture policy is not necessary effective, Army Col. Stuart Herrington
inserted, in his experience, nine out of ten people can be persuaded to talk with no stress methods at
all, let alone cruel and unusual ones. Applebaum s second argument for eliminating the torture policy
is that it constantly enables the enemy to build tolerance for the torture. Applebaum uses the example
of radical terrorists are nasty, so to defeat them we have to be nastier. This example clearly illustrates
the fault within the misconception that torture is ultimately effective. There can also be unnoticed and
lasting consequences to torture, that in turn, affect more than the individual country. The global stigma
that is labeled upon any country that participates in or allows the torture of wartime prisoners is
remarkably important. The public and self image that the respective country acquires, affects

5. Research on the Sale of Alcoholic Beverages in the United...
General considerations about alcohol in the United States The production and sale of alcohol in the
US is regulated at a state level, by local legislation, which means that conditions very from state to
state. This also means that alcohol can be sold in particular places. For example, in Maryland, alcohol
cannot be sold in supermarkets, while in Florida (or in some parts of Florida), beer and wine can be
sold in places such as Wal Mart. In other states, the sale of alcoholic beverages is done strictly in
liquor stores, so beer, wine and liquor such as whiskey will only be sold in these locations. In
California, the sale of alcohol is relatively unrestricted, meaning that alcohol can be sold much easier,
in locations ranging from supermarkets (beer and wine, as well as liquor), hypermarkets or gas
stations. At the same time, in some states, eighteen of all US states, the state government controls in a
monopoly the sale and retail of beer, wine and spirits, which explains some of the restrictions that are
applied in terms of location, time of sale etc. What is the relationship between monetary policy and
inflation? Monetary policy controls the supply of money in an economy and, through this, the level of
inflation. When the Federal Reserve uses different monetary instruments, to be discussed below, it
impacts the money supply and the levels of inflation. So, monetary policy is the type of policy that the
Federal Reserve uses to control inflation in the economy. What

6. The Soviet Union Of Soviet Republics
Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, former Soviet republics have been forced to
undertake the harrowing task of achieving stability for their citizens and developing their own
identities independent from the former hegemon. Some, such as Poland, have been successful in this
regard, while others, such as Georgia, have been less fortunate. For Ukraine, a vast agricultural
country with centuries old ties to Russia, answers to the questions of stability and identity have been
uncertain ones. In spring 2014, following the Ukrainian Revolution in which pro Russian president
Viktor Yanukovych was deposed and replaced by Olexander Turchnyov, Russian forces invaded
Crimea after signing an accession treaty on March 18. Throughout the year, this conflict escalated
with violence between pro Russian militants along with Russian forces and Ukrainian military and
thousands of deaths. The violence in Crimea, where Russians have an ethnic majority of 58%, and
eastern Ukraine began to dissipate in late September when Russian military commenced a withdrawal
from Ukraine. The violence intensified again in early November when pro Russian separatists in
eastern Ukraine held new elections supported by Russia and denounced by Ukraine, the United States,
and the European Union. This is an issue that has vast economic repercussions for powerful eurozone
countries such as Germany, whose GDP growth rate fell to 0.4% in the second quarter, and who has

12. How do both The Stranger by Albert Camus and A Doll’s...
From the very first line of Albert Camus The Stranger, Maman died today, (Camus 3) the quirky
character of Meursault is shown to be different. The same holds true with Henrik Ibsen s classic play,
A Doll s House, concerning Nora, a mother who abandons her family in order to pursue her own
happiness. Both characters, while set in opposing societies, exhibit similar characteristics: a
courageous, if not reckless, pursuit of happiness, be it physical in the case of Meursault or mental for
Nora, and the relentless disregard of social standards and norms in the chase for free will. Both Ibsen
and Camus use the pervading theme of free will to evolve the characters of Nora and Meursault,
specifically incorporating ideas such as existentialism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nora, unlike Meursault, is contained by a mental block, a societal influence that dresses her, feeds her,
makes her dance the Tarantula, and ultimately loathe her place in the literal Dolls house. Nora, called
many pet names such as a little spend thrift (Ibsen 2), a squirrel (2), and her husband, Torvald s little
songbird (25), faces constant reminders of her oppression. Like Meursault, Nora yearns for the all
encompassing feeling of free will, and once she gets a taste, the ache becomes a severe painful longing
until, as Torvald accurately predicts, she dances as if [her] life depended on it (48).
Both Nora and Meursault act outrageously in the viewpoint of their communities in the quest for free
will. As Torvald s wife, Nora is expected to keep the house beautifully and have everything just as
Torvald likes it! (13). However, after experiencing the freedom and power that her financial deal with
Krogstad gives her, Nora finds the dollhouse she once found solace in confining and suffocating.
Following the unraveling of her secret business transaction and the turn of unexpected events, Nora
finally plucks up the courage to take life for herself, leaving her home, husband, and children in her
wake. While Nora s society degrades strong women for not being obedient wives, Nora forsakes the
comfort in social norms to determine her own future and capture the remaining strings of free will that

13. What Is The Cause Of The Hindenburg Disaster
Hindenburg the end of the speedy luxury airlines. In 1937 as a Hindenburg s passenger you could fly
from Europe to America in half the time it would take by ship. Not only that as a passenger you would
be able traveled in luxurious interiors that would never again be seen in the air again, because of the 7
million cubic feet of hydrogen gas that ignited destroying not just the Hindenburg but also the use of
blimps. [Design of the Hindenburg] The basic design of the Hindenburg was conventional, and based
on time tested technology used by chief designer Ludwig Dürr and the Zeppelin Company for
decades. The ship was built with triangular duralumin girders (bright blue from protective lacquer)
forming 15 main rings, connecting 36 longitudinal girders, with a triangular keel at the bottom of the

The spark was most likely caused by an electrically charged atmosphere. The cause of the hydrogen
leak is a sort of a mystery, but we know the ship experienced a significant leakage of hydrogen in the
past before the disaster so it was probably not repaired correctly and returned because no evidence of
sabotage was found, and no convincing theory of sabotaged has ever been proven. The simple truth is
that Hindenburg was destroyed in 32 seconds because it was inflated with hydrogen. [The aftermath]
Hindenburg left the town of Frankfurt with 97 people onboard of which 62 survived the crash at
Lakehurst many of which suffered serious injuries. Thirteen of the 36 passengers, and 22 of the 61
crew, died because of the crash, along with a member of the civilian landing party. And the decision

However, Stanway and McIntosh believed that the R Q s estimates were too high. As a result, they
demanded that the group add below the line items to reduce the amount of warranty liabilities that the
company would have to report on its financial statements. The issue with this is that the additional
items embedded into the calculation were not supported by any evidence. These items included
anticipated engineering improvements that had no evidence of actually decreasing the amount of
claims, and vendor reimbursements for warranty claims even though these arrangements were usually
not specified in the contractual agreements with vendors.[4] With these new reductions to estimated
warranty liabilities, the estimation no longer followed GAAP since it included potential reductions in

important relationship with Roger Chillingworth, a physician. The relationship between Roger
Chillingworth and Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale starts off as a Doctor patient ,and changes as they both

16. Theme Of Exile In The Seafarer
ia Johnson Mr. Saunders British Literature 28 September, 2017 Medieval Analytical Essay During the
period of 449 1485 A.D. or also known as the Medieval Period, life was very socially structured
causing distinct social classes and terms of isolation. The Medieval period can also be known as the
feudalistic period meaning if a person grew up as a peasant, they would always be a peasant and
nothing higher or lower. In this feudalistic, Medieval period, three elegic, lyrical poems were
translated and related to medieval life. These poems by unknown authors have the related theme of

Relating to both The Seafarer and The Wanderer, The Wife s Lament also uses imagery to create the
theme of exile within its work. Here the poet uses spacial imagery by saying the valleys are dark, the
hills high (line 30). This use of spacial imagery depicts the image of the wife being separated from her
husband who abandoned her. Also as seen in both poems, The Wife s Lament also has the imagery that
has a cold feeling, relating to isolation. Visual imagery is shown in line forty eight saying, Under a
rocky cliff, rimed with frost (WL). All three of these poems relate to one another with similar types of
imagery in each work and also the feeling of coldness to portray the image of isolation and
abandonment. Within each of these poems, tone is used to build the theme of exile. In The Seafarer
which is set upon the sea, the speaker starts the poem off in a mourning and a tone of desperation. In
line twenty six, the seaman speaks of himself as, ..a soul left drowning in desolation (S) which means
he is anguished in misery or loneliness. Towards the middle of the poem the seaman has a tonal shift,
how my heart (line 33) where he is reflecting on how life could have been. In The Wanderer, the
warrior lost his king and describes himself as, lonely and wretched (line 9) because he has lost his

NLRPNACHT 3D models showed a typical structural fold and conserved ATP binding motifs Domain

two additional domains, FIIND and CARD towards the C terminal region (next to LRR), whereas
NLRP10 lacks the LRR (Fig. 1a; Supplementary Table. S1). Consistent with recently resolved
structures [mNlrc4 (4KXF) and OcNOD2 (5IRL)], and sequence analysis results, we outlined three

showed a conserved ATP binding pattern except for NLRP5, NLRP8, and NLRP9. Till date, only two
ADP bound NLR structures have been resolved experimentally [mNlrc4 (4KXF) and OcNOD2
(5IRN)] and both the structures shared a common nucleotide binding orientation28, 29. Therefore, we
adopted the manual approach of docking; where the γ phosphate group of ATP was deeply buried
inside the cavity, and adenine moiety was positioned outward (Fig. S1b). To understand the binding
mode and dynamic stability of ATP, MD simulations of both the prepared ATP bound NLRPNACHT
complexes [complex I (AutoDock) and complex II (manually docked)] were performed for 60ns time
scale. Manually docked NLRPNACHT ATP complexes exhibited a good binding stability The
experimental evidence suggested that Walker A (GxxxxGK[S/T]) of AAA+ ATPase proteins has the
major contribution in nucleotide binding and particularly, it coordinates the β/γ phosphate group of
NTPs28 37. To acquire a stable NLRPNACHT ATP complex for interaction analysis, a combined root
mean square deviation (RMSD) of Walker A and ATP was calculated, and the result indicated a stable
array of deviation in manually docked systems except in NLRP13 (Fig. 2a). Further, we analyzed the

The action of vampirism is trying to exploit another, and usually the exploited one is female. In The
Princess Bride, William Goldman sets up many vampires to try and belittle the main character
Buttercup. Vizzini, Prince Humperdinck, and her father to name a few. They each play a role in her
adventure of life, but Prince Humperdinck is the largest vampire of the book. On their first meeting,
he greets her I am your Prince and you will marry me Humperdinck said (Goldman. 81). Straight from
the begging he subjects her to something she may not want simply because he is the prince. He doesn t
even say hello to her, which is a true sign of vampirism. Almost forcing someone against their will to
do something, more than likely sucking the life from her. He goes on to tell her that Refusal means
death (Goldman, 81). After his first attempt, she refuses, so he decides to threaten her life. Foster, in
his book depicts a vampire as An older figure representing corrupt, outworn values (Foster,19).
Goldman makes Humperdinck a prime example of a vampire, he demands marriage, he keeps a zoo
called The Zoo of Death full of animals from around the world that are at his disposal to kill, he lies,
cheats, and goes back on his word multiple times throughout the book, so that he can have buttercup at
his disposal. Don t forget he only likes her because she is the most beautiful girl in Florin.

Technology overall has had a substantial impact on our lives today, particularly when it comes to the
World Wide Web. The constant innovation and technological change of the Internet throughout the
years and the years to come, from static web pages to the emergence of web 2.0, as well as the
emergence of web 3.0 and the idea of the Internet of Things , is changing the way we think today and
in the future.
The Internet is a place filled with a copious amount of information that we use to our advantage by
improving our knowledge and getting a better education. The future of teaching and education will be
largely impacted by Internet use in the future and we may see an increase in emerging web
technologies in teaching environments.
The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However the concerns with this teaching approach include the lack of knowledge some teachers may
pertain (Kale, 2013, p. 3) as well as the issue of whether students have access to hardware and
software needed to support the use of web 2.0 (Kale, 2013, p. 2).
Whilst Web 2.0 focuses on a user s participation, web 3.0 focuses on the cooperation of users (Barassi,
2012). The changing web environment may have an affect on people s daily lives and lifestyle, as well
as the economic and political organisation of society (Barassi, 2012, p.1270).
When it comes to the ever evolving world we live in today, the future of technology and the Internet
and the way in which it will be embedded into our lives is inevitable. The transformation of the
Internet has definitely evolved within the past decade, this shows how much potential the Internet has
to further develop. Web 2.0 is currently what is commonly used on the Internet and it is predicted that
Web 3.0 will be a new era for the web. Web 3.0 can be defined as an online environment integrating
users data to create new meaning (Barassi, 2012, p.1270).
The Internet is a very useful tool and has changed the way in which we do certain things, conducting

20. Why Did Imperialism Cause Ww1
After the assassination of the Archduke of Austria Franz Ferdinand, the world become complete cause
and broke into a world war. There are eight main reasons that we say caused the War to End all Wars.
Imperialism is said to have been a huge in the cause of the first world war. Imperialism is where a
country expands its overall power and control through their military and Gun Boat Diplomacy.
Gunboat Diplomacy or also known as big stick Diplomacy is a country uses its strong military to fight
or threaten another country. With many European countries strengthening their militaries, they feared
imperialism and started to to form alliances with other countries that they trusted. I will talk more
about these alliances later because they played ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once industrialization hit there were factories all across Europe. This allowed country to mass
produce weapons like never before. The new machinery was faster than ever seen before. With
country s pump out weapons at such a fast speed, they were able to design all sorts of new types of
weapons that had never been seen on the battlefield like tanks and chemical warfare. With nations
arming so fast, it led it an arms race which led to countries building large standing armies. Like I
mentioned early, countries began to fear imperialism and being taken over by another country. So they
began to form trade/military alliances. These alliances were basically were two countries would agree
to help one another if the other was attacked. In some of the Alliances the other country had no choice
to but to declare war on the country that attacked their allie. These alliances played a very large part
into making a true world war. With the fear of being taken over, European countries began to form
Large standing armies, Here are some statistics to show how big they were. Russia had 4.4 million
men, France had 3.5 million men, Austria Hungary had 3 million men, and Germany had 8.5 million

(STEWE 2)Jonas looks back at all the rules that he had come to break He thought of the rules he had

22. Self Confidence and Determining One s Achievement
Nature verses Nurture, it is one of the most important topics in many areas of studies such as
psychology, medicine, developmental science, and so on. This concept leads to the well known topic:
Individual s innate talent or self confidence, which one functions as the crucial key to the road of
success? In reality, when people see a professional in a certain area instruments, compositions,
mathematics, etc., they say that person is so talented! Although those people would not deny the effort
factor, they still think that the innate talent is the essential element to succeed. However, scholars
already published gargantuan amount of research papers to inform that the self confidence functions as
the main factor in order to success (Bénabou). To verify the exact term self confidence from the
dictionary, it is the self assurance in one s personal judgment, ability, power, etc. (The Oxford
Dictionary, Chandra). But, research papers and dictionaries only illustrate the self confidence lead
people to achieve their goals, but not the intensity of the self confidence that is needed. My definition
of self confidence that leads to achievement is having less self assurance, and it can adjust one s goal
more feasible and pragmatic; therefore, it is the critical factor in determining one s achievement. It is a
cliché in common senses that people with high confidence tends to succeed in their career and life;
people often think that the high confidence is a blessing whereas the

24. Corinthians
Paul initially writes to the Corinthians to inform them about their misinterpretation of the cross. The
Corinthians believe that the cross is true wisdom, which is actually the opposite of God s intentions.
When Paul informs the Corinthians of their mistake, he is trying to explain the purposes of the world s
standards compared God s wisdom. We can still see this today because the Corinthians were only
committing sin, to act higher than God or supreme selfishness. Even in today s world, Paul s
explanation of the worlds standards compared to God s wisdom is still relevant because it shows us
the true way to live our lives with God. The Corinthians were people who were infatuated by the ideas
of wisdom, God s wisdom being one of their primary interests. For Christ sent me not to baptize, but
to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

The world s standards for the cross is much different, in Jesus of Nazareth s time, it was a torture
device used to punish the guilty. But the world s standards also represent much more. The world s
standards don t look at Jesus as our savior, they disregard his purpose and live in their societal
standards, for example the Corinthians way of life was one of sexual impurity. When we are taught
Jesus death on the cross, the cross turns into a symbol of God s wisdom. God s wisdom that allows us
to see we are imperfect and need to follow God s instructions so we may know the true meaning of the
cross. Without Paul s letter to Corinthians, the true way of the cross may never have been discovered
and religion may have been ignored for societal standards, but instead we are wise because the cross

25. Meiosis In Children Lab Report
Introduction Ever wonder how children inherit their parent s traits? Though every human being is
unique, there are often family shared traits that stand out from family to family. Family similarities
occur because children inherit genes from their parents. Genes are genetic information that contributes
to what traits children get, or don t get, from their parents. A child s genetic information is shared
through tetrads. Tetrads are homologous pairs that carry genes controlling the same inherited trait.
Tetrads are exchanged and distributed to the child during the process of meiosis. Hypothesis Crossing

Also, to possibly explore how meiosis ensures new traits and diversity. The data showed that when

chromosomes in the four haploid daughter cells. The genetic information of the chromosomes began
to change during prophase. Here, the homologous chromosomes are coming closer to form tetrads and
are exchanging segments of adjacent non sister chromatids. The chromatids can do this by breaking
and reattaching to the other chromatids, this is called crossing over. After this each ending
chromosome varied in genetic information. The completion of the lab the results in 4 haploid cells,

Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756 in Salzburg. (Kem) Recognized for his works at an extremely
young age, Mozart was playing the harpsicord by the age of four and had written his first opera by the
age of eight. (Wright) He was highly educated and exceedingly well known throughout Europe. The
early parts of his career were spent waiting at the beck and call of people in high political power until

Domestic Terrorism vs. International Terrorism
The acts of terrorism can affect the lives of many people and is not limited to those who receive
physical scaring, but also people who have an emotional connection to those who are injured, and
quite possibly an entire nation. To distinguish between domestic and international terrorism one must
first define terrorism. It seems from region to region there are slight variations of what qualifies as
terrorism. The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations defines terrorism as the unlawful use of force and
violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or
any segment thereof, in furtherance of or social objectives (FBI Terrorism 2002 2005). The Federal
Bureau of Investigation further distinguishes terrorism by dividing them into two distinct categories:
Domestic and International terrorism. Domestic Terrorism is categorized by the FBI as occurring
primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States. These acts are violent in nature and
aim toward the intimidation of a government and its people. Domestic and International terrorism can
also be further distinguished by considering the origin of the individuals or groups who commit the
acts. Domestic Terrorism involves people who are natural born citizens or those who primarily operate

1. The future for trade unions Trade unions have played a crucial role in developing a democratic
society in terms of monitoring and enforcement in the areas of wages and employment conditions.
(Landau et al 2014, ????) It has been argued that the Industrial Commission gave Australia both
political and competitive advantage and provided both members and non members, significant
workplace gains throughout most of the 20th century. (Ref) Whilst not formally united with the
Australian Labour Party (ALP), the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) has sustained close
association with it. The ACTU has played a critical role in Australian politics. Bob Hawke was
president of the ACTU from 1970 to 1980, and went on to become labour prime minister from 1983 to
1991. The establishment of Australia s Industrial Relations Reform Act in 1993, which was intended
to streamline the collective bargaining process, largely resulted in a decline in ACTU membership.

Wolves need to be managed and if they are not addressed they will continue to roam free of charge
and deplete the livestock herds. Even beyond that our generation of families won t feel safe letting our
grandchildren run around. The wolves have mass killed 19 elk in one night, slaughtered countless
numbers of livestock and in places threatened people. In the rural town of Reserve, New Mexico kids
wait for the bus in wooden and metal cages, meant to protect the kids from wolf attacks. (Toft, 2016).
You may think is this is unnecessary, until you see and hear about the wolves growling and snarling at

34. Pros And Cons Of Securitization
INTRODUCTION
Financial transactions are very common in today s world. In these types of transactions, security must
be created. These creations of securities are known as securitization. Security is a financial claim
which is exhibited by document. The main feature of securitization is marketability. Henceforth,
securitization is creation of marketable and tradable securities which is hinged on the inflows and
outflows (cash flows) of the assets and liabilities of an individual. Cash flows refer to those generated
in the asset side of the balance sheet mainly receivables; cash in bank and hand, plant and machinery.
The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) uses these cash flows to issue marketable securities to investors so
that funds for the payment to the asset originator can be arranged. Securitization is an innovation in
the financial markets. For innovative financing sources, exceeding individual s cash flow status,
acquiring better liquidity position and issuing new securities to new individuals or group of investors,
these innovative financing sources have become a necessity. For mortgage financing in secondary
markets, securitized instruments are also essential. An asset is eliminated from the balance sheet when
it is securitized.

sure there is no excessive noise or vibration when you train. The machine also has a 2.5 rear roller,
which reduces noise and friction to a great extent. As a result, the C 970 Pro makes very little noise
when compared to other machines in its weight class.
42. While excessive noise and vibration is not a factor that many people consider while choosing a
treadmill, it is particularly important to you if you are someone who loves listening to songs or
watching TV while training.

43. Death Penalty And The Old Testament Essay
Death Penalty according to God in the Old Testament
Christian church has been divided for many controversial topics because of issues such as self center
or lack of a deep analysis of the scriptures. Death penalty is one of those controversial topics relating
the pro life or pro death argument. It is also known as capital punishment, and it is the ultimate
punishment for extreme and sadistic delighting crimes. It is a message stating that there is a line that
has been crossed according to society. In the Old Testament, God gives commands to cleanse the Earth
from sin. However, is it human responsibility and power enough to decide whether to take a human
life? The unjustified power that humans have attributed themselves to dictate death penalty violates
the human existence that should be taken only by Divine Grace.
In their book The Death Penalty Debate, John Howard Yoder, professor of theology at the University
of Notre Dame and H. Wayne House, dean and professor of theology at Western Baptist College state
that there is no doubt that Yahweh encouraged, commanded, and personally enforced the death penalty
during the Old Testament era (35). Deuteronomy 9:13, for example, commands to purge the evil from
among Human, leading a belief that in order to aid the Earth, justice must be taken with humans own
hands. However, basing the legal system on this passage, everyone would think that it is a
commandment from God not to accept any unpardonable crime. Purification of

45. Essay about Ageism Against Teens
Advocacy is the act of speaking in support of human concerns or needs. Where people have their own
voice, advocacy means making sure they are heard; where they have difficulty speaking up, it means
providing help; where they have no voice, it means speaking for them.

INTRODUCTION
The aim of this research was to look at the discrimination towards teenagers from certain family
backgrounds, like stepfamilies, ethnic families and single parent families in council housing estates.
The aim is to look at the age range of 13 18 years, as these youngsters have a tendency to be criticised
more by society. With no thought that they are individuals with different morals and personalities.
There is a high level of petty crime, recreational drugs, truancy and teenage pregnancy in this range of
younger people. There is also a higher level of social exclusions for this age group. There is always a
tendency to lay blame on their circumstances and backgrounds. It is not necessarily true that if you
come from a less adequate background, that you are more likely to be an underachiever. If you give
someone self esteem then they can always do better. People assume that they can pass judgement on
someone else s life, which is labelling them as inadequate.
Like traditional stereotypes, the teenager has been given a distorted image by the modern media (Int,
2003). Both young people and older adults deserve more choices in where and how they spend their
time. Others should not dictate them, how and where. The need is more acceptable for this to happen

47. Analysis Of The Spirit Catches You And You Fall Down By...
Anne Fadiman s novel The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down depicts the colliding worlds of the
Western and Hmong culture in an effort to save the life of a little girl, who is diagnosed with epilepsy.
The novel tells two different, but interwoven, stories in which one from the point of view of Lia s
parents, and another from the point of view of health care providers. Both Lia s parents and health
care providers want the best for Lia Lee, but due to a lack of understanding and cultural barriers, result
in the tragedy of Lia. This article explains how anthropological concepts are applied into the novel,
and how themes of culture and cultural misunderstanding impacted Lia s parents and the health care
providers resulting in a tragedy.

Adjusting to the Hmong s new homeland has not been easy for them. Traditional Hmong beliefs
regarding healing and curing of disease differ greatly from those of the Western culture. Western
medicine relies heavily on a medical process in which a specific technique corrects a specific problem
by treatment. Health is the absence of disease and measures the individual s adaptation to an
environment. On the other hand, Hmong believe illness is associated with spiritual causes. For
instance, when Lia was three month ago, she had an epileptic seizure in which Lia s mother Foua, and
her father, Nao Kao, called the episode the spirit catches you and you fall down (Fadiman, 1997,
p.20). According to Lia s parents, it was a spiritual illness which Lia s soul had fled out of her body
(Fadiman, 1997, p. 21). On the other hand, Dr. Dan Murphy, who practiced Western medicine,
diagnosed Lia Lee with epilepsy. The Ethnocentrism is the judging of other cultures by the standards
of one s own culture (Miller, Esterik, Esterik, 2004, p. 11). Therefore, all other ways of doing things
are considered inferior and unnatural. For instances, when Dr. Neil Ernst expressed that he felt it was
important for the Hmong to understand that there were certain elements of medicine and that the
doctors understood better than the Hmong did (Fadiman, 1997, p.79). Dr. Ernst wanted the community
to know if the Hmong deviated from the norm of society; it was consider not an acceptable behavior
(Fadiman, 1997, p.79). This statement shows how American doctors thought they had a better
understanding of the needs of children rather than the parents. Although the physicians truly cared
about Lia, it is their frustrations that magnified the cultural barriers, which prevented the Hmong from
collaborating with the physicians in restoring Lia s deteriorating

48. Enhancing Focus on Airplane Security and Safety Essay
Everyday, millions of people throughout the world fly on airplanes to get to their destination. They
have allowed people to travel to exotic places or just simply granted the ability for family members to
see each other even if they are long distances apart. It is a convenient and effective means of
transportation that is continuously growing and has a limitless future. Additionally, they are a structure
with the potential to do a lot of good in this world and are a gift to all. However, like most gifts,
someone is out to abuse them. Unfortunately, in the past decade, airplanes have become the focus of
inhuman threats and dangers that should have never have occurred. On top of that, the ones who take
care of the planes we fly on have not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here are some facts about airplane crashes in the last three years. The Aircraft Crashes Record Office
(ACRO) found that in 2007 there were 136 accidents resulting in 965 deaths and in 2008 there were
147 accidents with 876 deaths. The death toll seemed to get a little better in 2008 even though there
were more accidents, which is obviously a better trade off. However, in 2009 there were only 120
accidents but the number of deaths spiked up to 1,103 (Wikipedia). With the climbing rate of airplane
related deaths, Mrs. Formy Duval says airlines should schedule more frequent and more rigorous
maintenance checks (Formy Duval). To argue that, most would think that the airlines are doing
everything in their power to keep planes safe and functional, yet in of the past couple years some
people have investigated the airlines techniques for doing so and with not the best results. Joan Lowy
found that ...American (Airlines) also wasn t following required procedures for inspection of

Also, for the 2000s, the survival rate for passengers in fatal airplane accidents is 24% (Lowy
Watchdog ). On April 10, 2008, American Airlines canceled 930 flights to ensure that the carriers met

49. The Best American Essays Of The Century By Robert Atwan
Throughout the 1900 s, America has grown exponentially in its values, struggles, and art. The Best
American Essays of the Century, written by Robert Atwan, showcases the progress this country has
made through a series of essays ordered chronologically. Although many underlying topics existed in
these pieces, three common themes particularly stood out. In How It Feels to Be Colored Me by Zora
Neale Hurston, The Old Stone House by Edmund Wilson, and The Handicapped by Randolph Bourne,
identity is an important subject. Injustice is a clearly shared theme in Coatesville by John Jay
Chapman, The Devil Baby at Hull House by Jane Addams, and Of the Coming of John by W.E.B. Du
Bois. Finally, in Corn pone Opinions by Mark Twain, Tradition and the Individual Talent by T.S. Eliot,
and What Are Masterpieces and Why Are There So Few of Them by Gertrude Stein, the aspect of non
personality and the removal of one s self seems to be commonly spoken of in terms of creation.
The first motif, identity, appears initially in How It Feels to Be Colored Me where it says, But I am not
tragically colored. There is no great sorrow damned up in my soul, nor lurking behind my eyes. I do
not mind at all. (p. 115) Here, it is obvious that the author holds no shame in her skin nor self. She is
proud of who she is despite the prejudice some hold against her. Hurston identifies as colored and
does not care what others think. Her identity is unwavering. Also applicable to this idea is

erect shrub or small tree in the family Proteaceae. It grows only along the south west coast of Western
Australia, from Denmark to the Stokes National Park, and north to the Stirling Range, growing on
white or grey sand in shrubland, heath or open woodland. Reaching up to 8 m (26 ft) in height, it is a
single stemmed plant that has oblong leaves, which are 3 9 cm (1.2 3.5 in) long and 2 7 cm (0.8 2.8 in)
