School Bullying And High Schools
All across the United States children in schools are going through an unescapable problem presented
as bullying found in elementary, middle, and high schools. This issue can affect everyone, those who
are bullied, those who bully, and those who witness bullying. School bullying can be taken in two
different ways direct and indirect; including name calling, teasing, malicious rumor spreading, and
physical violence. Once thought of a normal part of growing up is now recognized as a serious
problem that must be stop at an early age. Among all age groups children between 7 and 12 most often
are the main target. Sadly most every kid experiences bullying and as children mature the types of
bullies tends to change into more physical aggression. In order to reduce bullying knowing the signs
such as torn cloths, missing possessions, requests for extra lunch money, dropping grades, and
refusing to go to school can all be indications that a child is being bullied. To prevent children from
being harmed by school bullying, professional educators and parents have a duty to understand the
complexity of bullying in U.S. schools and take action. Besides disrupting classroom activities, school
bullying generally harms children s ability to learn at school, and has been shown to contribute to
truancy and dropout rates. As I look at resources pertaining to this issue the only way to improve
bullying is to successfully use a method to form a bullying prevention program. The planning model

Descriptive Essay About My Favorite Room
Before you make an entrance into my room you first need to walk up three flights of stairs it may look
easy, but don t be fooled. Click as you turn the key to the right. Afterwards apply pressure to the
handle downwards, then push to open. When entered in my apartment a cool breeze of cold air
instantly hits your body and the smell of Hawaiian breeze scent from glade lingers in the room. Then a
small tile in front of the door is where I take off my shoes. As you continue to walk forward your toes
feel the rug of my room which is twelve by sixteen square feet a lot of my thinking and time is spend
here alone or with friends and family, but it is certainly my favorite room in my apartment. This room
matters to me because it is the first room you see before you see the other rooms. It also shows a little
part of me as you look around the room from the dreams I wish to travel one day to the time I took to
coordination the colors together and the hard work I put to manage to save enough money to get the
furniture and decorations this room is once again my favorite room. The first object you will
encounter with would be the object that is set by the entrance door. This object is used to study and to
concentrate on my class work. The object is rectangle shape and the shade of the wood is classic
cherry dark brown. The object is held by four legs that has a leafy design. As you continue to look at
the length of the object you can see a silver carved handle that dangles off the side. To furthermore,

one itches above the object hangs an instrument for measuring and recording time that uses hands to
indicate the minutes and hours per day. The instrument hangs on the East side of my apartment wall.
The instrument ticks quietly among itself as the dark brown, curvy hands move to each roman numeral

Much Ado About Nothing Don John Character Comparison
Whether the writer, who sits and taps his pen methodically against a blank sheet of paper in thought,
does not have an idea of what his piece will be about, he will always have a list of characters to use.
This concept stands right to the fact that without characters, a story based on description is parallel to
a song without notes. Literature would prove incomplete without a protagonist followed by an
antagonist. Even the most skilled of writers, who write of beautiful skies and fields, all tied up with an
abundance of similes and flowery language, will not be able to translate a story from mind to paper
without the use of some characters. That is because characters create the overall conflict in a story,
portraying traits and attitude that can both be considered Godly as well as the complete opposite.
Literature proves this every time a new piece comes out, and Much Ado About Nothing by William
Shakespeare holds no exception. A character who does not translate Godly character and attitude ...

Don John is adamant in doing so, for he is jealous because Don Pedro will inherit everything that Don
John believes he deserves instead. The Bible stands clear on the importance of removing the feelings
of jealousy from the Christian mind and heart. In fact, Galatians 5:19 21 writes: ... I warned you, as I
warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. The Lord said
this regarding impurity, anger, and most importantly jealousy and envy, all traits Don John possesses.
This verse proves that Don John is unrighteous for he lives and breathes the things the Bible is
opposed to, concerning envy and jealousy. Don John s hate for his half brother, however, will merely
result in a paradox, for Don John will fall to ruin and Don Pedro will rise even higher in

The First Trip I Went On Campus At San Diego State University
The first trip I went on was a community outreach trip to the children s daycare, on campus at San
Diego State University. This being my first trip, I was not sure what to expect. Initially, I did not think
the children would be interested in oral hygiene, however, since we promoted healthy oral hygiene
through games, the children were fascinated in what we had to say and show them. It was shocking
how few of these children knew how to properly floss and teaching them how to was definitely a
challenge. Most of the kids were unable to grip the floss with both of their tiny hands but it was
admirable how much determination they had despite their struggles, and it showed how much they
really wanted to learn how to floss. Even though most of the children were actively participating, there
were some who were very shy and too timid to participate, which made me realize that when I am
dentist I will often be working with children who are very shy and I have to make sure that they are
comfortable around me. Ultimately, this trip showed me that I am going to be working with hundreds
of patients, none of which are the same and it will be my job to do whatever I can to make them
comfortable in my office and care. The second trip I attended, which was a TRACE trip, was another
very rewarding experience. The adults we were presenting to were so eager to learn and participate, it
was enlightening how excited they were. One thing I especially liked about this trip was that Sam

Personal Statement On The American Cancer Society
. Jettowyne, (The Compassionate Friends, 2011, November 4), stated, Friends don t want to say your
child s name, because they think it will make you feel bad . Being open and asking or commenting on
the child is essential in the healing process and showing support.
Other important ways to comfort a friend is by acknowledging the child s death. Crying with the
parent(s). Being available for additional childcare or rides to the funeral home. It is also important to
respect each parent s grief process.
The American Cancer Society (2015) reports some key ways to assist a friend when they are grieving:
Acknowledge the situation. Example: I heard that your_____ died. Use the word died That will show
that you are more open to talk about how the person really feels.
Express your concern. Example: I m sorry to hear that this happened to you.
Be genuine in your communication and don t hide your feelings. Example: I m not sure what to say,
but I want you to know I care.
Offer your support. Example: Tell me what I can do for you.
Ask how he or she feels, and don t assume you know how the bereaved person feels on any given day.
Being a good listener and being there is very comforting to a person in grief. Giving reassurance and
showing empathy are also key in helping a friend in need. This may be done by going on errands for
them, offering to do housework, shopping or bringing over food dishes. In addition, it is important to
remember that grieving parents may

Arias has been deceiving and manipulating through the whole process. She planned on murdering
Alexander and went through many precautions to protect herself. She also met up with another man in
Utah so she would have an alibi. After Alexander s body was discovered, she called the investigator to
ask questions about his death. She denied murdering him at first. She then changed her story and said
it was self defense. She has only said terrible, defamatory things about him. She has a history of lying
and deceiving people. Alexander s family would like Arias to receive the death penalty. The day that
Arias was found guilty, David Hall, Alexander s friend, made a statement to reporters as he was
leaving court saying that he wanted Arias to receive the death penalty. Hall said, Five long years... of
lying, manipulating. Now the citizens of Arizona have spoken. If what she did to Travis does not
justify the death penalty in America today, then what do we have it for? (Gaynor A4). The jury should
take in consideration what his family and friends want since he was taken so quickly and violently
from their lives. In May 2013, the jury could not come to a decision on whether or not Arias should
get a death sentence. That jury could not come up with a unanimous decision so a new jury will be

He is the only cub in his whole litter of puppies to survive. He gets tossed around and has to learn how
to fight other dogs for his life under the ownership of Beauty Scott. In his final environment, he lives

Once John is booked he will be allowed one phone call and then incarcerated until the arraignment
where he will appear before the judge. When he is before the judge, the judge will decide if there was
probable cause for his arrest and decide whether or not he will be allowed to post bail, and if so, the
amount. Now, we move on to cover and compare the preliminary hearing and the grand jury process to
establish probable cause for the felony charges. A preliminary hearing is used to determine if there is
enough evidence against John to go to trial. A good way to look at the preliminary hearing is to think
of it as a mini trial. It is where the judge will allow hearsay evidence. The judge must make their
decision based on probable cause and if the prosecutors have enough evidence to convince a jury that
John is guilty. During a preliminary hearing both sides can argue why or why not a trial should
happen. Witnesses and evidence can be used and defense can cross examine. A preliminary hearing is
held as soon as possible after the arraignment of the defendant. Some states only require a preliminary
hearing if the suspect is charged with a felony. Some states use a grand jury. A grand jury is where a
group of citizens listen to evidence and determine themselves on whether or not there should be a trial.
The only other person that is there with the grand jury is the prosecutor showing them all

The War On The Front Lines
The refusal to obey orders, or a violent attempt to take control from people of authority. 1 The Great
War was a rugged time for many throughout its duration from July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918.
The speculations and thoughts of the general public and the soldiers in battle behind the ongoing war
changed drastically over the four years. The moral and willpower of the soldiers declined heavily, and
this had a large impact on how the war was fought. Many soldiers captured their accounts of these
changes in journals as diaries and there is one French soldier s diary that accurately depicts mutiny on
the front lines. There is a clear correlation between the changes in the amount of recruits and supplies
available, the manner in which the war was fought, and the general feelings behind the war as time
went on, which caused some soldiers to choose mutiny. At the beginning of the war, the duties behind
what the soldiers had to do were largely appreciated and they were held above others as heroes. People
of warring countries were rushing to battle and their loved ones were supporting them all of the way.
Battalions were even formed from work groups, as they already withheld an established chain of
command, the members had a close knit bond, and there was a charismatic feeling about representing
the country they worked in. The glorified fighting and risking of one s life was soon changed.
The way the war was fought also fiercely changed. The battle techniques early on in 1914

Key Challenges Faced By Tata Motors

cars from successfully producing commercial vehicles?
Ans: Tata Motors was a leading player in the segment of commercial vehicle market. In 1954 Tata

excavators and earth moving equipment s. When Japanese firms Toyota, Mitsubishi and Nissan

The Food Product Of Raw Milk
Introduction Bacteria can be more commonly transmitted through the intake of a food product. Due to
high possibilities in transmission and contamination biologist test food product routinely. Through the
use heterotrophic plate count the number of bacteria present within the food sample can be
determined. This number can indicate whether or not the food is highly harmful and how fast food
product will spoil. If the food product like meat contains over 106 bacteria per gram it can case
disease. Biologist indicate that the most common food born bacteria present are Campylobacter,
Salmonella, Listeria, Clostridium, Vibro, and S. aureus. The bacteria counted will only be the ones
capable of growing in environmental conditions provided. For this experiment the food product Bison
will be used and diluted and plates will be counted for each dilution sample. Then the CFU/g will be
determined for each sample. The processing of raw milk is known as pasteurization. This method
deals with assuring the milk is free from bacteria before it has been distributed so the public can use.
Pasteurization allows for the nutritious properties to be kept and destroy the harmful microorganisms.
The dairy product is also grade based on the fat content of animal, fat of product, temperature animal
and temperature of pasteurization and cooling process. A grade A indicates that all the listed measures
are met. Using the plate count method and determining the coliform number can indicate if milk

Fifth Business Character Analysis
Fifth Business is the first book of Robertson Davies Deptford Trilogy. The novel is a memoir of
Dunstable Ramsay, the protagonist, in the form of a letter to the school s headmaster. Many characters
play a huge significant role in Dunstable s life as he develops, however, many of those people are
women. Leading examples of this are Fiona Ramsay, his mother; Mary Dempster, the woman who
changed his life; Diana Marfleet, his nurse and meaningful love; and Liselotte Vitzliputzli, his source
of therapy and inspiration. Dunstable s mother is someone who is a salient part of his development,
and shapes him into the person he is later on in the novel. She is determined, strict, controlling, and

She is a source to the development of Dunstable for a couple of reasons. A link emerges between
Dunstable Ramsay and Mary when she is hit in the head with a snowball thrown by Percy Boyd
Staunton, which was intended for Dunstable. The snowball that hit Mary causes her to go into labour,
and she gives birth to her premature baby, Paul Dempster. Dunstable is forever filled with guilt
although he had no control whatsoever when the incident occurred. This guilt eventually leads to
Dunstable developing feelings for Mary Dempster, even though she is ten years older than him. His
loyalty for Mary Dempster is at the same degree as his mother, or perhaps more. When Dunstable is at
the Third Battle of Ypres, he loses his leg after he takes down German snipers. While Dunstable lies
down wounded, he sees Mary Dempster s face on the statue of The Little Madonna. But what hit me
worse than the blow of shrapnel was that the face was Mrs. Dempster s face . (Davies, 74) Almost half
a year after, he wakes up from a coma in a hospital where he meets his nurse, Diana Marfleet. He
recollects what happened during the war and becomes a hagiographer. This is a significant facet of the
person that he grows to be. Furthermore, when Mary Dempster s illness aggravates, aunt Bertha who
was taking good care of her passes away. Aunt Bertha hands Mary s fortune to Dunstable, and he must

Legalizing Marijuana, An Ethical Perspective
Legalizing Marijuana: An Ethical Perspective
In today s society, many ethical concerns arise on a daily basis, especially when it comes to the topic
of legalizing marijuana. Many individuals have relied on the fact that marijuana was illegal, when
determining whether smoking it should be considered unethical. However, many studies have shown
that the effects of marijuana are not as detrimental as they were once made out to be. Legalizing
marijuana can be an extremely controversial topic because several people have strong beliefs
concerning why it should not be legalized, while a significant amount of people have stronger
arguments, as to why it should be legalized. When it comes to looking at the ethical standpoint of

Another principle includes restrictions on driving while under the influence of marijuana. NORML
stated, Although cannabis is said by most experts to be safer than alcohol and many prescription drugs
with motorists, responsible cannabis consumers never operate motor vehicles in an impaired condition
(NORML, 1996, para, 6). Therefore, the no driving principle is implied. These are two of the most
significant principles presented by NORML.
The next principle is described as set and setting. The NORML organization states, The responsible
cannabis user will carefully consider his/her set and setting, regulating use accordingly (NORML,
1996, para. 7). Meaning, adults should be responsible enough, when using marijuana, to take into
consideration several different aspects of one s life. For instance, it is important for marijuana users to
consider his or her set, meaning the individual s attitude, personality, and experience. The term setting
refers to an individual s physical and social condition or circumstances (NORML, 1996, para. 8).
Therefore, individuals should consider and analyze a number of factors before choosing to smoke or
just choosing to just say no. Two other principles presented by NORML include resisting abuse and
respecting the rights of others. Therefore, individuals should steer clear of any sign of abuse and
should not violate the rights of others when

What Is Luck Is A Matter Of Preparation Meeting Opportunity
Oprah Winfrey once said, Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity. What Oprah means by
this statement is that hard work and effort are the key to meeting opportunity. When someone
succeeds and another fails, it is not because of how lucky either of them were, but how much of an
effort each of them had made. I agree with Oprah Winfrey because hard work and effort are more
important.
First, opportunity is rare to come by making it better to have the experience of taking. Experience
gives people an advantage over the other, the more of it one has, the better their chances. For example,
Oprah Winfrey went through countless interviews while working for small television companies and
every time she failed she only gained the experience in doing better next time. Now look at her, she is
one of the riches women in the world living the dream life. Gaining experience allows us to expand
our perception of what we see. The bigger our viewpoint is the more ideas we develop and the greater
an asset we become, increasing the chances of being successful.
Second, preparation, it can only be beneficial and advantageous. Preparation increases the chances of

In this modern era, the computer and internet have becomes the most effective and fastest media for
communication that connect different parts of the global world. As a result, people can easily
exchange information and share information with the others via the internet. However, the information

Steganography is one of the methods used for the secure transmission of confidential information. It
can provide a high level of security to secure the important data during combined with encryption.
Steganography is a Greek origin word that means stegos meaning cover and grafia to which classified
as cover writing. Steganography is hiding a secret message into other information such as sound,
image and video. It is also known as invisible communication. In addition, steganography is related to
two technologies which are watermarking and fingerprinting. Both these technologies provide the
same goals which are mainly used for intellectual property protection. Thus, both are different in

Qing Dynasty Of China And Tokugawa Shogunate
Transformations in China and Japan In both the cases of the Qing Dynasty of China and the Tokugawa
Shogunate of Japan, their rule prospered until the centuries old dynastic systems were overthrown in
both countries. In their own ways the Qing and Tokugawa shared similarities yet also displayed many
differences in how they were overthrown, their impacts, and the forces that overall led to the change at
the end of these systems. Their influential powers from the 1600s to the early 19th century brought
great change to their countries that were seen well at first, but the people were not happy with either
complete outcome, overall leading to the definite ends of the two powers despite their differences
throughout. In the mid 1600s, rebellion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For both, the leaders of each had to eventually sign treaties which angered the people and caused
much discontent. In Japan, the shogun gave in and signed the Treaty of Kanagawa in 1854. The people
felt that the shogun had given in too easily to the wants of westerners and were getting angry. In China
after the Boxer Uprising, Cixi was forced to sign a treaty the created reform in China. She had not
been doing what was right with the purpose of the Boxers, and other countries needed her to take more
control than let it happen as she was doing (China and the New Imperialism). Connected to the
Boxers, in both countries foreigners caused conflict, causing even more anger among the people. For
Cixi, the Boxers were fueled by hatred for foreigners, and she saw it as no real problem for what they
were doing, even though it was literally hurting and killing the foreign people. In Japan, Commodore
Matthew Perry came from the United States, opening up ideas of trade that Japan had to truly think
about. They had been isolated for 200 years, and suddenly many foreigners from different countries
were coming to trade with them. By agreeing to trade, the shogun made many of his people angry and
ultimately led to his own downfall (Japan and the West). Also by overall changing policies that both
countries had relied on for so long, it created an almost inevitable change that the people could

Summary Of Nikki Giovanni s Poem Knoxville, Tennessee
The speaker of this poem is Nikki Giovanni. It s a simply and happy poem about summer during her
childhood. She states her personal experience from living in Knoxville, Tennessee. She describes how
she enjoyed summer so much and with who she enjoyed it with. The name of this poem is Knoxville
Tennessee, when I first read the title I thaught she was going to describe her restricted life from there.
I thaught about this becasue she is known as a famous African American that had faught for her rights.
She had always been mistreated for the race she was. However, as I read the first line I noticed how it

She speaks passionately about it and when members complain about ritual, Rachel explains that it is a
privilege to do something that has bound the women before us together for more than one hundred and
fifty years. This past summer Rachel was chosen by our chapter to go to Leadership Seminar due to
this passion for ritual. She came back and taught us all what she learned, she went phrase by phrase
through our ritual and explained the importance. This year has been a struggle to get women to follow
the correct steps in our rituals because they want to get everything done as quickly as possible even if
some things are done wrong. Ultimately, they view our ritual as an obligation. Ritual is a privilege not
a right; it is something that we all get to do. Rachel has said that to the chapter time and time again.
One specific instance when I have seen her face adversity because she was holding on to her values is
when one of the officers refused to set up the correct ritual paraphernalia. Rachel did not continue on
with the ceremony, she knew what was missing and even though other members voiced their
opposition to waiting for the right paraphernalia to be set up, Rachel continued to wait. And when that
officer still refused to set up the correct paraphernalia, Rachel began setting it up herself, and soon

that bind each and every member of our organization are just as strong and true in our chapter. Rachel

Causes Of Dementia
I think there are many reasons the early onset of symptoms of dementia are missed or misdiagnosed as
other diseases. It could be that the spouse has noticed the change, but is inadvertently covering for
them so others do not notice the symptoms to the full extent. Another reason could be the families
does not understand that symptoms like forgetting where they put things, or having trouble finding
words could be passed off as old age . Withdrawing from family and friends, anxiety, cognitive
impairment, denial, and mood disorder are some symptoms that could be either dementia or

individuals who are alcoholics do not admit to it freely. Many

Chipotle vs Panera
Chipotle vs. Panera Bread Company
Introduction Fast Casual Restaurant fast casual restaurant is a type of restaurant that does not offer full
table service but promises a higher quality of food and atmosphere than a fast food restaurant. In the
USA it is a relatively new and growing concept to fill the space between fast food and casual dining.
The typical cost per meal is in the US$8 $15 range. Two emerging fast casual restaurants are Chipotle

Panera is proficient in making good, quality products. Their financial position is strong; and they are

Americans who still have jobs.
Shaich is also taking advantage of the company s cash position and the slow real estate market by
bargaining down lease rates by 20% to 25% from 2008 levels. Plus, Panera can lock in these low
terms for the next 20 years (2009). Chipotle, on the other hand, seems to have created a sustainable
branding strategy that leverages its good food, humorous ads, distinctive interior design, and in store
world music (Wikinvest.com, 2010). The company is positioned to capitalize on their organic and
farm raised food, and high quality ingredients. According to the organic Trade Association (OTA),
organic food sales are growing at a 20% clip annually in the US, although such food only accounts for
3% of all food and beverage sales (Wikinvest.com, 2010). Chipotle is also positioned to tap multiple

Abina And The Important Men Summary
Book Review of Abina and the Important Men: A Graphic History History is not static, it is ever
changing and evolving. As time goes on history changes because of new discoveries that alter the way
things have been and shed new light on what had been considered true. In Abina and the Important
Men: A Graphic History historian Trevor Getz introduces a new voice into the story of British
controlled West Africa in the late nineteenth century. Getz and Liz Clarke, an illustrator, bring forth
the story of Abina, a young West African woman, who was wrongfully enslaved and took her case to
court. The book mixes history with graphic art and presents a new and interesting at a part of history
that is not very well known. Overall Getz recreates the story of Abina to show how history is
constantly adapting as more and more stories are being unearthed and heard. Abina and the Important

Through the graphic illustrations Abina story is described in detail. Though the story is interesting and
admirable, it seems to be exaggerated in many ways. In the book Abina is a young woman, probably
around the age of twelve, though this is implied, Getz seems to create a strong young woman who is
sure of herself and of who she is. This is not to say that the story is invalid, but rather that Getz s own
wishes for the woman Abina was carried over into his history. As with most books, the history is
biased. Throughout the first section of the book Getz s own feelings and ideas about the story are
transferred into the story of Abina. This is even more apparent at the end of the graphic narrative
where Getz himself appears, telling the reader that new history can always be found and no voice is

Beowulf s uncle is king of the Geats so Beowulf is sent to help rid the Danes of the evil Grendel.
Beowulf risks his own life for the Danes, asking help from no one. He realizes the dangers but fears
nothing for his own life. After Beowulf had served his people as King of the Geats for fifty years, he
goes to battle one last time to fight a horrible dragon whom is frightening all of his people. Beowulf is
old and tired but he fights the dragon in order to protect his people. Even in death he wished to secure
safety for the Geats so a tall lighthouse is built in order to help the people find there way back from

The most heroic of traits within Beowulf is that he is not afraid to die. He always explains his death

The Necessity Of Computer Literacy
John Buckholt
Professor Arnecia Patterson
English 100

The Necessity of Computer Literacy The common image of schools is students sitting in a classroom
and learning how to read, write, and do math. However, the reality is that the classroom needs to be
rapidly changing. In the 21st century schools are changing their curriculum in order to teach students
the skills they will need once they leave school. Computer literacy is a skill required for most jobs
nowadays and there are many new jobs available in the field of computers, many of which pay well
and have lots of room for growth. As such, in the United States schools need to prioritize teaching
computer literacy to students. There is a wide range of literacy in reading ... Show more content on

Almost every job nowadays requires the use of computers but formal computer training is something
rarely being taught in schools. For instance, in the United States only seventeen states offer graduation
credit for Computer Science courses (Baker). Many schools teach basic computer classes such as
keyboarding and believe that is sufficient enough for students to leave school with. As such, many
students graduating come to college with only the basics of how to work their computer. They may
know how to browse Facebook and type a paper but they are unable to code a basic program or create
spreadsheets on Excel. This creates a huge problem in our increasingly technology and computer
based world. People tend to overestimate their computer literacy and according to Shane Bateman, of
Experience Works in Ohio, many job seekers computer literacy fell well short of what government
agencies assumed (Johnson). It is clear that schools are failing to properly teach computer literacy and
as such schools need to prioritize teaching computer skills in order to better prepare their students for
employment once they leave the classroom. Computer literacy, similar to reading and writing literacy
is a process learned by both formal teaching and acquisition. According to James Paul Gee, acquisition
is an informal learning process through trial and error while learning involves conscious knowledge
gained from a teacher (Gee 137) . Humans are not

Superstition On The Face Of Logic By Dr. Mortimer
Theme The most prevalent theme of this book is superstition in the face of logic. Throughout the
novel the logician, Sherlock Holmes, is faced with something quite the opposite of logic: a
supernatural hound. The reader can see in many places that the supernatural beliefs of the townsfolk
and neighbours of the Hall swayed the reasoning of those trying to unravel the layers of mystery
surrounding the investigation. This intersection of rational thought and irrational belief is first
presented by Dr. Mortimer at the beginning of the novel. Dr. Mortimer introduction as a man of
science sets a tone of intellectuality; Holmes and Mortimer make small talk of his medical practice,
Holmes deductions, and the intricacies of Holmes skull structure. This is immediately skewed by the
telling of the legend of the hound. The reading of this unworldly myth promptly makes the atmosphere
eerie and mystical. These two undercurrents mix together for the first time in this scene, when
Mortimer makes it clear he believes the supernatural explanation for the crime committed. Another
clear indicator of the theme appears in evidence of the hound. There are several indicators throughout
the novel that the there is a real dog in play. However, instead of being interpreted as evidence of a
real dog, they are dismissed as superstition or insignificant by most; it is these pieces of evidence that
Holmes uses to determine that the dog is of the corporeal world. The first piece of evidence set

Shakespeare Henry IV
In Shakespeare s novel Henry IV Part 1, the concept of war is portrayed through different individuals.
Each character perceives war differently, leading them to take independent actions. In this era, war
was not perceived as a final solution to all their problems, but as a common event between rulers. To
die for ones country was viewed as an act of honor, although, a certain individual disfavored this act
of honor. Throughout the novel, Shakespeare s attitude reveals the unnaturalness of civil war, but also
ties relationships together.
Shakespeare portrays that the role of being a king, and obtaining power, could be played by anyone
with the right appearance and behavior. According to King Henry, Hotspur (Lord Henry Percy) is the
theme of honor s tongue, (1.1.80) implying that he is the ideal example of being an honorable king,
unlike his son, Prince Hal, who spends majority of his time at the tavern. King Henry and Sir Walter
Blunt agree that Hotspur would be the appropriate king of France because of his bravery,
successfulness in battles and his time spent with royalty. Although, Hotspur and his father, Earl of
Northumberland, and his uncle, Earl of Worcester, plan to overthrow the king by defeating his army
on the battlefield. Hotspur explains to his army how the king rejected and shamed his family.

Michael Radford s version of Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice nearly surpasses it s predecessor

Shakespeare s vision. With the higher budget Michael Radford is able to make a more convincing and

Research Paper On Ivory
Ivory Is it worth it?
Everyday elephants and rhinos are being poached in order to get their tusks and horns. These tusks
and horns are made of ivory which is sold for very large sums. Many things are being done to stop
poaching but elephants and rhinos are still being poached.
People in Asia mainly China are the main buyers of ivory from illegally poached rhinos and elephants.
The ivory business is a multi million dollar business. They buy elephant tusks for $1,500 per pound.
Rhino horns are $45,000 per pound, or $6,000 for 100 grams. Many things are trying to be done but
there is still illegal ivory trading. There is a near total ban on ivory in the US. The Chinese
government has become stricter so people trade in Vietnam and Laos where there is a less strict
government. The main buyers of ivory are in Asia but people don t want to change their ways so many
people still participate in the business of ivory trading.
Elephants and rhinos are disappearing at an alarming rate due to illegal poaching. Many elephants are
being killed everyday and they could soon be extinct. Tanzania s elephant population decreased by
two thirds and Mozambique s fell by 40%. Elephants have dropped in population from more than 10

My individual record was also undefeated as well and it was strenuous, to say the least but also
rewarding. Day two we knew was going to be the toughest competition and most stressful. It s that
day that by the end, you know basically what you are competing for. Whether it is for the
championship title or to place overall top ten. All other competition gets done by the end of the second
day and for that to happen means a profusion of matches. The first match of the day was against a very
skillful Alabama team, we won respectfully and geared up for our next match. Giving it all I had was
not enough nor was the whole team s full effort enough to defeat the notorious club team from New

The Great Depression And The Civilian Conservation Corps...
The Great Depression decimated the economy in the 1930s. Specifically, men of the workforce
experienced layoffs, the loss of incomes resulted in inability to purchase goods, the low demand led to
oversupply, and the cycle restarted by employers cutting more jobs. In an effort to combat the
depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt ignited the New Deal: a plan to revive the failing economy. One
program, titled the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), assisted successfully in gradually rekindling
the workforce. In addition, the CCC influenced future decisions on similar situations such as granting
employment following the 2008 economic recession.
The CCC was a labor act established in 1933. It decreased the unemployment rate over 9 years by
providing jobs to unemployed, young men affected by the Great Depression. Jobs provided by the
CCC included contributions to park development, natural and historic site preservation, and forest
management. In return for the work, the employees received a small income, education, and, in some
cases, shelter. However, in 1934, government officials such as the assistant secretary of war, Harry H.

This issue can affect everyone, those who are bullied, those who bully, and those who witness bullying. School bullying can be taken in two different ways direct and indirect; including name calling, teasing, malicious rumor spreading, and physical violence. Once thought of a normal part of growing up is now recognized as a serious problem that must be stop at an early age. Among all age groups children between 7 and 12 most often are the main target. Sadly most every kid experiences bullying and as children mature the types of bullies tends to change into more physical aggression. In order to reduce bullying knowing the signs such as torn cloths, missing possessions, requests for extra lunch money, dropping grades, and refusing to go to school can all be indications that a child is being bullied. To prevent children from being harmed by school bullying, professional educators and parents have a duty to understand the complexity of bullying in U.S. schools and take action. Besides disrupting classroom activities, school bullying generally harms children s ability to learn at school, and has been shown to contribute to truancy and dropout rates. As I look at resources pertaining to this issue the only way to improve bullying is to successfully use a method to form a bullying prevention program. The planning model that ... Descriptive Essay AboutMy Favorite Room Before you make an entrance into my room you first need to walk up three flights of stairs it may look easy, but don t be fooled. Click as you turn the key to the right. Afterwards apply pressure to the handle downwards, then push to open. When entered in my apartment a cool breeze of cold air instantly hits your body and the smell of Hawaiian breeze scent from glade lingers in the room. Then a small tile in front of the door is where I take off my shoes. As you continue to walk forward your toes feel the rug of my room which is twelve by sixteen square feet a lot of my thinking and time is spend here alone or with friends and family, but it is certainly my favorite room in my apartment. This room matters to me because it is the first room you see before you see the other rooms. It also shows a little part of me as you look around the room from the dreams I wish to travel one day to the time I took to coordination the colors together and the hard work I put to manage to save enough money to get the furniture and decorations this room is once again my favorite room. The first object you will encounter with would be the object that is set by the entrance door. This object is used to study and to concentrate on my class work. The object is rectangle shape and the shade of the wood is classic cherry dark brown. The object is held by four legs that has a leafy design. As you continue to look at the length of the object you can see a silver carved handle that dangles off the side. To furthermore, the object description on the top of the object where the four legs connect there is a leather football feel to the top where there lays a picture of the world map imprinted in black ink to the leather. Thirty one itches above the object hangs an instrument for measuring and recording time that uses hands to indicate the minutes and hours per day. The instrument hangs on the East side of my apartment wall. The instrument ticks quietly among itself as the dark brown, curvy hands move to each roman numeral number. Much Ado AboutNothing Don John Character Comparison Whether the writer, who sits and taps his pen methodically against a blank sheet of paper in thought, does not have an idea of what his piece will be about, he will always have a list of characters to use. This concept stands right to the fact that without characters, a story based on description is parallel to a song without notes. Literature would prove incomplete without a protagonist followed by an antagonist. Even the most skilled of writers, who write of beautiful skies and fields, all tied up with an abundance of similes and flowery language, will not be able to translate a story from mind to paper without the use of some characters. That is because characters create the overall conflict in a story, portraying traits and attitude that can both be considered Godly as well as the complete opposite. Literature proves this every time a new piece comes out, and Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare holds no exception. A character who does not translate Godly character and attitude ... I warned you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. The Lord said this regarding impurity, anger, and most importantly jealousy and envy, all traits Don John possesses. The First TripI Went On Campus At San Diego State University The first trip I went on was a community outreach trip to the children s daycare, on campus at San Diego State University. This being my first trip, I was not sure what to expect. Initially, I did not think the children would be interested in oral hygiene, however, since we promoted healthy oral hygiene through games, the children were fascinated in what we had to say and show them. It was shocking how few of these children knew how to properly floss and teaching them how to was definitely a challenge. Most of the kids were unable to grip the floss with both of their tiny hands but it was admirable how much determination they had despite their struggles, and it showed how much they really wanted to learn how to floss. Even though most of the children were actively participating, there were some who were very shy and too timid to participate, which made me realize that when I am dentist I will often be working with children who are very shy and I have to make sure that they are comfortable around me. Ultimately, this trip showed me that I am going to be working with hundreds of patients, none of which are the same and it will be my job to do whatever I can to make them comfortable in my office and care. The second trip I attended, which was a TRACE trip, was another very rewarding experience. The adults we were presenting to were so eager to learn and participate, it was enlightening how excited they were. One thing I especially liked about this trip was that Sam brought ... Crying with the parent(s). Being available for additional childcare or rides to the funeral home. It is also important to respect each parent s grief process. The American Cancer Society (2015) reports some key ways to assist a friend when they are grieving: Acknowledge the situation. Example: I heard that your_____ died. Use the word died That will show that you are more open to talk about how the person really feels. Express your concern. Example: I m sorry to hear that this happened to you. Be genuine in your communication and don t hide your feelings. Example: I m not sure what to say, but I want you to know I care. Offer your support. Example: Tell me what I can do for you. Ask how he or she feels, and don t assume you know how the bereaved person feels on any given day. Being a good listener and being there is very comforting to a person in grief. When he is before the judge, the judge will decide if there was probable cause for his arrest and decide whether or not he will be allowed to post bail, and if so, the amount. Now, we move on to cover and compare the preliminary hearing and the grand jury process to establish probable cause for the felony charges. A preliminary hearing is used to determine if there is enough evidence against John to go to trial. A good way to look at the preliminary hearing is to think of it as a mini trial. It is where the judge will allow hearsay evidence. The judge must make their decision based on probable cause and if the prosecutors have enough evidence to convince a jury that John is guilty. During a preliminary hearing both sides can argue why or why not a trial should happen. Witnesses and evidence can be used and defense can cross examine. A preliminary hearing is held as soon as possible after the arraignment of the defendant. Some states only require a preliminary hearing if the suspect is charged with a felony. Some states use a grand jury. A grand jury is where a group of citizens listen to evidence and determine themselves on whether or not there should be a trial. The War OnThe Front Lines The refusal to obey orders, or a violent attempt to take control from people of authority. 1 The Great War was a rugged time for many throughout its duration from July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918. The speculations and thoughts of the general public and the soldiers in battle behind the ongoing war changed drastically over the four years. The moral and willpower of the soldiers declined heavily, and this had a large impact on how the war was fought. Many soldiers captured their accounts of these changes in journals as diaries and there is one French soldier s diary that accurately depicts mutiny on the front lines. There is a clear correlation between the changes in the amount of recruits and supplies available, the manner in which the war was fought, and the general feelings behind the war as time went on, which caused some soldiers to choose mutiny. At the beginning of the war, the duties behind what the soldiers had to do were largely appreciated and they were held above others as heroes. People of warring countries were rushing to battle and their loved ones were supporting them all of the way. Battalions were even formed from work groups, as they already withheld an established chain of command, the members had a close knit bond, and there was a charismatic feeling about representing the country they worked in. The glorified fighting and risking of one s life was soon changed. The way the war was fought also fiercely changed. The battle techniques early on in 1914 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, the no driving principle is implied. These are two of the most significant principles presented by NORML. The next principle is described as set and setting. The NORML organization states, The responsible cannabis user will carefully consider his/her set and setting, regulating use accordingly (NORML, 1996, para. 7). What Is LuckIs A Matter Of Preparation Meeting Opportunity Oprah Winfrey once said, Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity. What Oprah means by this statement is that hard work and effort are the key to meeting opportunity. When someone succeeds and another fails, it is not because of how lucky either of them were, but how much of an effort each of them had made. I agree with Oprah Winfrey because hard work and effort are more important. First, opportunity is rare to come by making it better to have the experience of taking. Experience gives people an advantage over the other, the more of it one has, the better their chances. For example, Oprah Winfrey went through countless interviews while working for small television companies and every time she failed she only gained the experience in doing better next time. Now look at her, she is one of the riches women in the world living the dream life. Gaining experience allows us to expand our perception of what we see. The bigger our viewpoint is the more ideas we develop and the greater an asset we become, increasing the chances of being successful. Second, preparation, it can only be beneficial and advantageous. Qing Dynasty OfChina And Tokugawa Shogunate Transformations in China and Japan In both the cases of the Qing Dynasty of China and the Tokugawa Shogunate of Japan, their rule prospered until the centuries old dynastic systems were overthrown in both countries. In their own ways the Qing and Tokugawa shared similarities yet also displayed many differences in how they were overthrown, their impacts, and the forces that overall led to the change at the end of these systems. Their influential powers from the 1600s to the early 19th century brought great change to their countries that were seen well at first, but the people were not happy with either complete outcome, overall leading to the definite ends of the two powers despite their differences throughout. In the mid 1600s, rebellion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For both, the leaders of each had to eventually sign treaties which angered the people and caused much discontent. In Japan, the shogun gave in and signed the Treaty of Kanagawa in 1854. The people felt that the shogun had given in too easily to the wants of westerners and were getting angry. In China after the Boxer Uprising, Cixi was forced to sign a treaty the created reform in China. She had not been doing what was right with the purpose of the Boxers, and other countries needed her to take more control than let it happen as she was doing (China and the New Imperialism). Connected to the Boxers, in both countries foreigners caused conflict, causing even more anger among the people. For Cixi, the Boxers were fueled by hatred for foreigners, and she saw it as no real problem for what they were doing, even though it was literally hurting and killing the foreign people. In Japan, Commodore Matthew Perry came from the United States, opening up ideas of trade that Japan had to truly think about. They had been isolated for 200 years, and suddenly many foreigners from different countries were coming to trade with them. By agreeing to trade, the shogun made many of his people angry and ultimately led to his own downfall (Japan and the West). Summary Of NikkiGiovanni s Poem Knoxville, Tennessee The speaker of this poem is Nikki Giovanni. It s a simply and happy poem about summer during her childhood. She states her personal experience from living in Knoxville, Tennessee. She describes how she enjoyed summer so much and with who she enjoyed it with. The name of this poem is Knoxville Tennessee, when I first read the title I thaught she was going to describe her restricted life from there. I thaught about this becasue she is known as a famous African American that had faught for her rights. She had always been mistreated for the race she was. However, as I read the first line I noticed how it was toally a different idea from mine. Throughout the poem the literary device she used the most is vivid imagery. Her poem is explaining ... The Panhellenic community all shares these foundational values and they are what make us different from all of the other campus organizations. One person who I know is dedicated to the betterment of herself, her sisterhood, and her community is Rachel Minter. Rachel follows Alpha Delta Pi s open motto We Live For Each Other. She speaks passionately about it and when members complain about ritual, Rachel explains that it is a privilege to do something that has bound the women before us together for more than one hundred and fifty years. This past summer Rachel was chosen by our chapter to go to Leadership Seminar due to this passion for ritual. She came back and taught us all what she learned, she went phrase by phrase through our ritual and explained the importance. This year has been a struggle to get women to follow the correct steps in our rituals because they want to get everything done as quickly as possible even if some things are done wrong. Ultimately, they view our ritual as an obligation. Ritual is a privilege not a right; it is something that we all get to do. Rachel has said that to the chapter time and time again. One specific instance when I have seen her face adversity because she was holding on to her values is when one of the officers refused to set up the correct ritual paraphernalia. Rachel did not continue on with the ceremony, she knew what was missing and even though other members voiced their opposition to waiting for the right paraphernalia to be set up, Rachel continued to wait. And when that officer still refused to set up the correct paraphernalia, Rachel began setting it up herself, and soon enough the others began to help her. I realized at that point that Rachel was making sure that the ties that bind each and every member of our organization are just as strong and true in our chapter. Causes Of Dementia Ithink there are many reasons the early onset of symptoms of dementia are missed or misdiagnosed as other diseases. It could be that the spouse has noticed the change, but is inadvertently covering for them so others do not notice the symptoms to the full extent. Another reason could be the families does not understand that symptoms like forgetting where they put things, or having trouble finding words could be passed off as old age . As time goes on history changes because of new discoveries that alter the way things have been and shed new light on what had been considered true. In Abina and the Important Men: A Graphic History historian Trevor Getz introduces a new voice into the story of British controlled West Africa in the late nineteenth century. Getz and Liz Clarke, an illustrator, bring forth the story of Abina, a young West African woman, who was wrongfully enslaved and took her case to court. The book mixes history with graphic art and presents a new and interesting at a part of history that is not very well known. Overall Getz recreates the story of Abina to show how history is constantly adapting as more and more stories are being unearthed and heard. The Necessity OfComputer Literacy John Buckholt Professor Arnecia Patterson English 100 13 April 2015 The Necessity of Computer Literacy The common image of schools is students sitting in a classroom and learning how to read, write, and do math. However, the reality is that the classroom needs to be rapidly changing. In the 21st century schools are changing their curriculum in order to teach students the skills they will need once they leave school. Computer literacy is a skill required for most jobs nowadays and there are many new jobs available in the field of computers, many of which pay well and have lots of room for growth. As such, in the United States schools need to prioritize teaching computer literacy to students. There is a wide range of literacy in reading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Almost every job nowadays requires the use of computers but formal computer training is something rarely being taught in schools. For instance, in the United States only seventeen states offer graduation credit for Computer Science courses (Baker). Many schools teach basic computer classes such as keyboarding and believe that is sufficient enough for students to leave school with. As such, many students graduating come to college with only the basics of how to work their computer. They may know how to browse Facebook and type a paper but they are unable to code a basic program or create spreadsheets on Excel. This creates a huge problem in our increasingly technology and computer based world. People tend to overestimate their computer literacy and according to Shane Bateman, of Experience Works in Ohio, many job seekers computer literacy fell well short of what government agencies assumed (Johnson). It is clear that schools are failing to properly teach computer literacy and as such schools need to prioritize teaching computer skills in order to better prepare their students for employment once they leave the classroom. Computer literacy, similar to reading and writing literacy is a process learned by both formal teaching and acquisition. According to James Paul Gee, acquisition is an informal learning process through trial and error while learning involves conscious knowledge gained from a teacher (Gee 137) . Humans are not ... Superstition On TheFace Of Logic By Dr. Mortimer Theme The most prevalent theme of this book is superstition in the face of logic. Throughout the novel the logician, Sherlock Holmes, is faced with something quite the opposite of logic: a supernatural hound. The reader can see in many places that the supernatural beliefs of the townsfolk and neighbours of the Hall swayed the reasoning of those trying to unravel the layers of mystery surrounding the investigation. This intersection of rational thought and irrational belief is first presented by Dr. Mortimer at the beginning of the novel. Dr. Mortimer introduction as a man of science sets a tone of intellectuality; Holmes and Mortimer make small talk of his medical practice, Holmes deductions, and the intricacies of Holmes skull structure. This is immediately skewed by the telling of the legend of the hound. The reading of this unworldly myth promptly makes the atmosphere eerie and mystical. These two undercurrents mix together for the first time in this scene, when Mortimer makes it clear he believes the supernatural explanation for the crime committed. Another clear indicator of the theme appears in evidence of the hound. There are several indicators throughout the novel that the there is a real dog in play. However, instead of being interpreted as evidence of a real dog, they are dismissed as superstition or insignificant by most; it is these pieces of evidence that Holmes uses to determine that the dog is of the corporeal world. The first piece of evidence set ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Concept OfWar In Shakespeare s Henry IV Part 1 Shakespeare Henry IV Tiara Stewart Todaro Simon Fanning 603 101 MQ gr.00062 December 8,2017 Word count: 856 Shakespeare Henry IV In Shakespeare s novel Henry IV Part 1, the concept of war is portrayed through different individuals. Each character perceives war differently, leading them to take independent actions. In this era, war was not perceived as a final solution to all their problems, but as a common event between rulers. To die for ones country was viewed as an act of honor, although, a certain individual disfavored this act of honor. Throughout the novel, Shakespeare s attitude reveals the unnaturalness of civil war, but also ties relationships together. Shakespeare portrays that the role of being a king, and obtaining power, could be played by anyone with the right appearance and behavior. According to King Henry, Hotspur (Lord Henry Percy) is the theme of honor s tongue, (1.1.80) implying that he is the ideal example of being an honorable king, unlike his son, Prince Hal, who spends majority of his time at the tavern. King Henry and Sir Walter Blunt agree that Hotspur would be the appropriate king of France because of his bravery, successfulness in battles and his time spent with royalty. Although, Hotspur and his father, Earl of Northumberland, and his uncle, Earl of Worcester, plan to overthrow the king by defeating his army on the battlefield. The Great DepressionAnd The Civilian Conservation Corps... The Great Depression decimated the economy in the 1930s. Specifically, men of the workforce experienced layoffs, the loss of incomes resulted in inability to purchase goods, the low demand led to oversupply, and the cycle restarted by employers cutting more jobs. In an effort to combat the depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt ignited the New Deal: a plan to revive the failing economy. One program, titled the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), assisted successfully in gradually rekindling the workforce. In addition, the CCC influenced future decisions on similar situations such as granting employment following the 2008 economic recession. The CCC was a labor act established in 1933. It decreased the unemployment rate over 9 years by providing jobs to unemployed, young men affected by the Great Depression. Jobs provided by the CCC included contributions to park development, natural and historic site preservation, and forest management.
