Cas About The Pencil Crumbling
Cas liked to sketch. He liked the feel of the pencil crumbling against his paper, he loved the feel of
moving his hand to shape something, and he loved creating something just for himself. So they weren
t the best drawings in the world, but that didn t matter to Cas.
He nodded his head a little in time with the music that was pouring out from his headphones, gazing
over the sight he was sketching. There was a water fountain in his town that overlooked one of the
busiest streets in his town. Every minute or so the sidewalk separating the road from the fountain
would erupt in spontaneous explosions of water. There was a sprinkler system along the path that to
Cas was so beautiful to watch. Every time the water started to spray ... Show more content on

Music was blasting, banners were flying and they were all smiling and cheering. Cas longed to join
them, to celebrate his identity and to be free.
When he d told his father it had not been a happy day in the Novak family. Cas was ignored, his
announcement taken as some kind of sick joke. His father had banished him from ever talking about
being gay again. After months of explaining, his father had finally acknowledged that Cas was telling
the truth. He was never allowed to mention it again, his father had told him, or he d no longer be his
son.
On this particular day, all Cas father would talk about was those disgusting homos and he d looked
like he was about to be sick when they came down the road.
Cas had snapped. He dropped his fathers groceries and started to move towards the happy crowd. His
father had not said a word to him, but his face said it all.
5 years later and Cas was still yet to hear his fathers voice.
Cas had joined in a row of people who all had rainbows drawn on their face and a few small banners
between them. A very beautiful red headed girl around his own age had greeted him with nothing but
warmness. The boy next to her had a rainbow wig on a mask on. Cas wondered if he wasn t allowed to
be seen at pride or something. Still he seemed to be having a good time. He looked over at Cas and
passed him a small rainbow flag, kissing him on the cheek as he

A Small Porch By Wendell Berry
The book A Small Porch was written by an essayist, poet, novelist and farmer known as Wendell
Berry. He was born in New Castle at a place called Kentucky on August 5, 1934. He received his BA
in English and an MA in 1956 and 1957 respectively. Berry has authored more than thirty books in the
form of essays, poetry, and novels. Among the books he wrote A Small Porch is one of the most
popular works associated with him. It is a collection of poems conveying different messages. The poet
delivers the information using various elements of poetry. Among them is the symbolism, which is, be
the principal focus of this paper.
The first instance where symbolism is evident is in the poem The long cold drive life inward. There
are several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mockingbird sings is another poem where symbolism is utilized (pg. VI). A mockingbird is an
individual who is presented as an innocent person by the narrator. Despite doing or saying what is
right for his lover and himself, the information he tries delivering to his lover remains unclear. He
ends up repeating the same actions and says to please his lover. The narrator refers to him as silly and
egotistical and that the song he sings is only clear to him and not to others about the direction of the
message conveyed in the song. He ends up failing and probably suffers out of unclear intentions. The
connection of the poem to the title of the book is that the innocent person in the poem is nature which
tries to please humans but all in vain.
The other section where symbolism is evident is Small Porch in the Woods. It is divided into several
poems. In the first one, there is the mention of unshifting star which represents a change that is
undisturbed. It is the turning point of the society. Despite the challenges communities face in their life,
their ambition leads them towards achieving their objectives in life. The second poem under this
section is about a heavy rain that fell in the month of April. Heavy rain is the representation of
unhappy moments. The description presented by the narrator shows that it is a sad moment where
everything is carried away. Throughout the poem, the rain is seen, as a lesson

Minoan Art And Art Analysis
The artwork and architecture of the Place at Knossos reveals a significant amount of
detailsconcerningthe ancient Minoan civilization. According to archeological findings by Sir Evans
Author, it is evident that architectureand art practiced in this society symbolize itssuccessful culture.
Minoan potteries alongside other artifacts signify a highly lucrative and flourishing commerce at the
Knossos (Chilvers, 2005). Elements of commercial life practiced in the Minoan civilization include
excavated artworks, jewelry, sculptures, and paintings among other findings. Other than the
commercial aesthetics of the Minoan civilization, there were well organized religious and social
movements. This fact relates to the archeological findings that discovered

Construct Validity Research
The above examples provide evidence that a personality measurement can be examined through its
reliability. A good personality test should have the same findings in different occasions (i.e. test retest
reliability) and also all of the items in the test should be measuring the same thing (i.e. internal
consistency). Nevertheless, personality measurement can be evaluated by its validity as well.
Construct validity is one of the main subtypes of validity. Construct validity refers to the ability that a
personality test measures what it is intended to measure. Discriminant validity is a subtype of
construct validity, which refers to the extent that the concept that is not related to the test doesn t
emerge in the test. Soto, C. J., John, O. P. (2009) tested the discriminant validity by comparing the BFI
with the NEO PI R. They showed that the correlation between the BFI and NEO PI R facet scales has
high discriminant validity. Each BFI facet scales correlated most with the corresponding NEO PI R
facet scales than with the other NEO PI R facet. This research demonstrated that BFI is discriminant
valid because it only correlates most with the corresponding items on the NEO PI R. Furthermore,
McCrae and Costa, P. T. (2004) found that NEO Five Factory Inventory (NEO FFI) had high ... Show

Personal Reflection Of The Pain Management On 2B
I have been taken care of 4 patients towards the end of my time on 2B. I think I handled it well. It can
be challenging sometimes. For example, I had to discharge one patient by 10am. And the staff meeting
for my newly admitted patient was around the same time. Besides, one of my patients approached me
to have PRNs, the forth patient also requested a shave. On 2B, shaving has to be supervised by staff.
All my patients needed me at once. I learned to ask help from other RNs and delegate appropriate
tasks to NA in order to get things done on time. Sometimes, we don t have enough help. I had to
prioritize my tasks and patients needs. Of course, I offer my help to my fellow RNs when they re busy.
I had completed blood draws for others many times (11).
The pain management on 2B is quite different. (7) This is because many of the common non
pharmacological interventions are considered unsafe due to the high suicide risk in our patient
population. There is no heat or cold pad due to the toxic chemical contents. K pad is also not available
due to the long tubings for risk of strangulation. Aromatherapy is also out of picture. I often feel
limited when my patients ask me for pain interventions as there are not as many options available as in
other units. Fortunately, there are organized group activities offered by OT daily on 2B. They mainly
focus on relaxation, meditation, and mindfulness practices. I encourage my patients to participate in
those groups, and practice those

Rising Cost Of California Essay
The Rising Cost of Tuition in California State Universities
The cost of tuition for California State Universities has skyrocketed over the last 10 years. It has
forced many students to take out expensive student loans to complete their educational goals, often
times leaving graduating college students steep in debt as they enter the workforce. Some of the
contributing factors that I am going to address are inflation, the rising cost of living and the varying
costs of different educational institutions
Webster s dictionary defines inflation: as a continuing rise in the general price level usually attributed
to an increase in the volume of money and credit relative to available goods and services. During the
last 10 years we have seen and felt the effects of inflation. Services and goods have gone up in price,
but the minimum wage for most Californians stayed the same for a number of years. Inflation is a key
factor that has affected tuition costs in most universities and has helped contribute to the steady rise.
Public and private schools each typically have their own college inflation rate, which ... Show more

Inflation definitely has played a role and will continue to do so in the future as the economy changes
and adapts. It is clear that in the last ten years tuition cost spiked and in some areas doubled. The cost
of living was also a contributing factor for the spiked tuition costs. California Universities are amongst
some of the best in the nation, but they come with a price tag that unfortunately many cannot afford.
Finally the varying universities and the quality of the programs often dictate the costs. This was clear
in the comparison between Fresno State and California Polytechnic State. Both offer quality education
in specific fields for the right price. As some would say, A good education is not cheap, and a cheap
education is not

Assignment Turnitin week 4
Briefly describe the two specific systemic crises you have selected.
In this week application, I will pay attention to natural disaster (floods) and school based crisis
situations. Floods refer to an overflow of water from a water body due to excessive rainfall or input in
water from its source exceeding the usual capacity of the water body. The over whelming flow of
water is catastrophic leading to destruction of infrastructure, plants as well as causing loss of life to
both animal and human beings. Flood may occur slowly while in cases of flash flood, they occur
instantly within a short duration of minutes.
School based crisis refer to unforeseen predicaments affecting a school set up. A school based crisis
affects quite a significant portion of the school fraternity. Generally such crisis include: death of
student, staff member or a community member who had had a big role in the school, major
environmental crisis such as fire and situations that compromise the safety of students for instance a
school bus accident, insecurity among others.
Explain how the two crises are similar and how they are different, including their breadth of impact.
On similarity, both situations involve destruction of properties and physical injury of victims, when it
an environmental school based crisis. They also involves loss of life when the situation in the school

Water or (H20, or H0H) is one of the most abundant important molecule on Earth. Water is the only
substance that occurs naturally in all the three forms (solid, liquid and gas). A water molecule is a bent
molecule with a V Shape. A bent molecule is similar to a trigonal planar but lacks the third atom,
instead the third molecule is replaced with unshared electrons (APPENDIX dd). A water molecule

The unequal sharing of the oxygen and hydrogen atoms is called polar. A polar molecule is a molecule
made up of two different atoms which have asymmetrical distribution around the molecule, this
implies that the molecule has a slightly negative and positive charge at each ends of the molecule. The
end which is more electronegative has a slightly negative charge (δ ) and the side with the less
electronegativity has a slight positive charge (δ+). Polar molecules tend to have a greater
electronegative difference of 0.5 and less than 1.6. In order for a molecule to obtain polarity, the two
molecule has to have a net pole and dipole moment, where a separation of the charge of the molecule
go into a positive area or a negative area. The dipole moment can be visualised by drawing an arrow
from the positively charged side to the negatively charged side, in a polar molecule the arrow points
towards the same direction, whereas a nonpolar molecule has arrows pointing in different directions.
Molecules which possess both an asymmetrical electronegativity and geometry is classified as a polar.
Water is a special type of covalent bond called a hydrogen bond, this bond is similar to dipole dipole
forces but has a greater intermolecular force. A hydrogen bond is the intermolecular force of attraction

The Concert Is Berlioz s Symphonie Fantastique
The concert is Berlioz s Symphonie Fantastique, performed by The Chicago Symphony Orchestra,
conducted by Stéphane Denève, recorded in high definition at Orchestra Hall in December 2013.
Symphonie Fantastique composed in 1845, by Hector Berlioz (1803 1869), is a program symphony; a
five movement orchestral work that tells the story described by the CSO (2013) as a purely musical
melodrama , a colorful illustration of the life of an artist, replete with unrequited love, witches,
guillotines and colorful, opium induced hallucinations . Its composer, Hector Berlioz at the age of
twenty seven wrote Symphonie Fantastique both to explore German Romanticism and to give his
hometown of Paris a symphony of its own; something not yet native to this city of operas and ballets
(CSO, 2013). Berlioz s symphonic back ground in the operatic overture alludes to his program notes
presented as the spoken text of an opera . The memorable dramatic flair of Symphonie Fantastique is
understood to be one of the most well known pieces of program music in his repertoire and is
suggested that the story is a self portrait of its composer, Hector Berlioz. Innovative the time, Berlioz
devised a program to be given out to audience members at the performances stating it is indispensable
for a complete understanding of the dramatic outline of the work. Berlioz s outlines the story in the
preface of the program for his Symphonie Fantastique (1830):
A young musician of morbid sensitivity and

Emerging Infectious Diseases Essay
Emerging Infectious Diseases
Emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) are the third leading cause of death in the United States and the
first leading cause of death worldwide (3). Thus, should EID s be considered an oncoming threat to
human existence or is it God s response to our unbiblical stewardship of the Earth or is it nature s
practical solution to overpopulation.
Past EIDs
Since the beginning of time, human existence has been overwhelmed by threatening diseases. To
begin with, leprosy and other highly contagious skin diseases affected humanity as early as in the days
of the Old Testament. Due to its rapidly infectious manner and its degrading and dehumanizing
results, skin diseased victims were often ostracized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1994, Gloucestershire, England was assailed by the infamous and unstoppable flesh eating bacteria
or Necrotizing Fasciitis, which virtually devoured its victims to death (2). In March of 1996, 2.6
million cows were slaughtered in the United Kingdom in an effort to rid themselves of the invasion of
the Mad Cow disease. Another term for Mad Cow disease is Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy
(BSE), which is a disease observed solely in cattle. Mad Cow disease or BSE is transmitted to humans
via the consumption of infected beef resulting in a fatal human brain disorder known as Creutzfeldt
Jacob (CJD). As a result of this British beef scare 32 people died of CJD, of whose deaths were linked
to Mad Cow disease (10.e). Similarly, 1 million chickens were gassed to death in Hong Kong in 1997
in order to prevent the already undertaking spread of Influenza A (H5N1) or Bird Flu . The worst
Influenza A epidemic occurred in the United States killing 20 million people in 1918 (10.b). In New
York last month, five people died of a rare encephalitis disease caused by a West Nile like virus, which
is believed to have been transmitted from birds, who researchers found to have died from the West
Nile virus (8). Finally, and probably the most menacing disease ever in human history would have to
be HIV and AIDS, which is still infecting the human population worldwide in gross amounts.

Strategic Problem And Issues Of The Performance Apparel...
Strategic Problem and Issues: In the performance apparel market the top three competitors consist of
Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour, with Nike leading the industry and Under Armour coming in last.
The Challenge for Under Armor will be can they stand the pressure from their competitors as they
expand into a bigger market. They must be able to provide their customers with either cheaper or
better products, the companies marginal cost should be better than that of their competitors, and Under
Armour must prove to their customers that their products are different and overall better than their
competitors (Terfis Team, 2014). If they re able to succeed through these risk, then Under Armour will
have a fighting chance of competing with those larger companies. Situation Analysis and Evaluation:
Under Armour s goals is to make athletes better through Passion, Design and the Relentless Pursuit of
innovation (UnderArmour, 2016). Under Armour is constantly developing new products that help
achieve their goal of being innovative. In 1996, Kevin created workout gear that provides

The environmental issues in Poland have improved since 1989 due to the major decline in heavy
industry and increased environmental concern by post Communist governments; of course air
pollution will always remains serious because of sulfur dioxide emanations from coal fired power

Major trade and other wide ranging economic reforms have led to a vigorous show of the Polish
economy. A new WTO report on the trade policies of Poland says that real GDP in Poland has gone up
by one quarter above pre transition levels and that GDP per capita averaged US$4,000 in 1999. The
report notes however that rural poverty and regional expansion remain key problems.

Chemistry Concepts That Are Present During The Process Of...
Introduction
Rust, also known as iron (II) oxide, occurs when iron is exposed to oxygen and moisture for a long
period of time. This reaction is called oxidation. Oxidation can occur on old cars, iron, exhaust and
even the burning of fossil fuels. When wood, natural gas, or coal burns, the oxygen in the air
combines with the carbon and hydrogen in the fuel to produce water and the oxides of carbon.
(Prentice Hall Chemistry The Study of Matter p.599.) Rust may seem like an average everyday
phenomenon, however many things we cannot see take place as the rust begins to form. Many
everyday exposures such as water or hot temperature can cause rust to form. The purpose of this paper
is to relate chemistry concepts that are present during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite its destructive characteristics it can be stopped by acids or bases that will dissolve the rust off,
but if you leave any bare iron outside exposed to heat and water rust will occur without doubt. After

SC2 Molar mass of Rust and indicators of chemical properties.
The molar mass of rust is 159.69 g*mol−1 . The chemical formula is Fe2O3. Chemical properties in
rust are indicated by the change of color, smell, and production of a solid. Rust as a solid can appear
on many household items such as cars, bikes, and tools. Basically, anything left outside can get rained
on, and the rain will leave the item wet, and overtime rust will appear. Rust has a brown red orange
color. Rust has a smell similar to blood. 4Fe+3O2+6H20 → 4Fe(OH)3 is the formula for the rusting of
iron. So basically, do not leave items that you care for outside where they can get rained on because
the rust will ruin it.

Psychological Effects Of Serotonin
Serotonin is a neurotransmitter created by a biochemical process that combines tryptophan, tryptophan
hydroxylase, and proteins (McIntosh, 2017). Serotonin helps regulate the cardiovascular system, renal

Essay On Static Members
Week Five Learning Journal The Ongoing Emphasis on Static Members Static, static, static; but what
does all this static mean? Re occuringly, our reading material conveys the idea of static members.
During the course of chapter five, I develop a keen understanding on how to use static members, say
variables and methods. Building static variables and methods means building class members that hold
the same values through all instances. No matter how many instances of a class I instantiate, static
members will retain the same value. This is useful for global placement of data. Building non static
variables and methods means building class members that are unique to each instance of the class you

Chapter five teaches me to instantiate variables of references of objects with the new keyword, before
trying to use my variable. How I Can Use Null Pointer Wisdom in My Own Programming at Home
Moreover, many programmers, like me, have their development cycle haulted when the SDK or
3DEngine crashes, and all the console says is null pointer exception. From reading chapter five, I can
tell you this exception is thrown when an object referenced variable was not instantiated. This error is
simple to fix, takes initializing the troubled variable with the new keyword and constructor of its
referenced object class, and there we go. Months of questioning and advice seeking on SDK forums
can be bypassed with chapter five, when all you really need to do is identify which variable on the call
stack is causing the null pointer reference. Identify which object reference it should have, and
initialize it with the new keyword and class constructor. Arrays of Type Object I like writing in depth
learning journals, because looking back on learning journals point out material I find especially
interesting. Arrays of type object are handy when you ve created an object class, and need to spawn an
array of them. In video game programming, often it s useful to create a bullet object, or a character
object, or a background object. Knowing Java creates array of objects help programmers rapidly
spawn multiple types of their objects. Java is one of my favorite programming

During the Holocaust about three and a half million Jewish people were killed, that is three million
people that were of the oldest religion in existence, Judaism. The Jewish faith can be traced back up to
6000 years. There is one common denominator throughout those six thousand years, persecution. The
violence and casting out of the Jews did not begin with the Holocaust, anti semantic actions have been
in society for thousands of years, and yet the people of this faith are still present in today s world. To
understand why Saul Bellows and Jerzy Kosinski wrote Mr. Sammler s Planet and The Painted Bird,

Sammler s Planet. This journey is seen on two completely different levels, that of a child living in the
experience and that of a man remembering the experience. The points of view used by Bellows and
Kosinski are completely diverse from each other. The child in The Painted Bird reacts only on what he
hears and sees while Mr. Sammler can reflect upon his thoughts with an intelligence only brought
forth through life experiences and age. In Bellow s novel the reader is given an inside view to
Sammler s thoughts, so the journey he takes to rediscover or redefine his faith is evident. Sammler s
recollection on killing the soldier to save his own life defines for the reader a perfect example of the
self admitted lack of faith Sammler possessed as well as the readmission of his relationship with God.
To kill the man and to kill him without pity, for he was dispensed from pity.
There was a flash, a blot of fiery white. When he shot again it was less to make
sure of the man than to try again for that bliss. To drink more flames. He would
have thanked God for that opportunity. If he had had any God. At that time he did

Ocean s Eleven Essay
Ocean s Eleven
Path goal Theory In Ocean s Eleven Steven Soderbergh did a great job as a director in keeping the
audience interested throughout the whole movie time. Path goal theory of leader effectiveness can be
easily applied to the movie. The path goal theory by Robert House holds that the leader can affect
group s performance, satisfaction and motivation by offering rewards for achieving goals, clarifying
paths towards these goals and removing obstacles to performance. After being released from prison,
Danny Ocean (Clooney) finds out that Las Vegas kingpin Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia) is seeing his
ex wife Tess (Julia Roberts). Danny sets up a goal to steal millions from Terry and his ex wife back.
Then he shares ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some instances of the movie Danny is acting as directive leader, where he gives specific
instructions to the group and clarifies expectations. Path Goal theory assumes that leaders are flexible
and they can change their leadership style depending on the situations. Although, the leader behavior
outcome relationship is moderated by contingency variables environment and follower characteristics.
The followers do not have control of environment, and the environmental factors determine the
leadership style. Follower characteristics are the locus of control, experience, and perceived ability. In
the ocean s eleven case the team members can be described as having external locus of control where
they believe that their success is attributed to luck or fate. The whole robbery plan is based that each
member will performed his specified duties and everything goes well as planned, also that boxing
championship will not be cancelled on the weekend, which means that most significant high rollers
will go gambling. Danny and Rusty set up the path to be followed to achieve their goal to rob three
casinos owned by the ever ruthless Terry Benedict. Danny acts like the charismatic leader of the team.
The plan is to pull off the heist, but what enhances the movie s plot is Danny Ocean s charm. Besides
the common shared goal, the film also focuses on

Personal Narrative-Off The Computer
Did I turn off the computer? Of course I did. Seriously, did I? My face was sweating, but I just wanted
to look away from that locked door but it was midnight and she was still awake. Reanalyzing my own
thoughts, I was pretty sure that I turned off the computer at precisely ten o clock after counting to my
lucky number seven before leaving. What if it s not off? What if it explodes? Yes. No. I don t know,
everything was getting worse. The bedroom became more of a blur while the door seemed like the
only clear thing to me. My thoughts were racing at a hundred miles per hour as I tossed and turned
through the agony and frustration. Gripping on my mom s nine year old blanket, I wanted to scream
very loud, but my parents were asleep. What are you doing?!!! The computer is going to explode. No.
Shut up. I DON T KNOW , I was hearing both sides of her mind screaming either to give in or to stay
strong. I could not take it anymore. I NEEDED reassurance. I got off my bed to check my computer
downstairs. With a fast heartbeat, I hurried downstairs to check. It s off. It was relief for now. But I
just sat there and stared off to space, wondering when everything was going to be over. My desk is
always orderly and pens are always colored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was not just a disorder; it was an authority in my head that deprived me from experiencing life. I
couldn t do it anymore, I was so tired. I was so tired of having to check and recheck for the smallest

Epigenetic Engineering Personal Statement
I was fascinated to discover that my namesake was the co discoverer of DNA, and, as a child, this
coincidence undoubtedly influenced my love of science. I followed the scientific developments of the
21st century with interest particularly genome project research. My studies continue to direct me
towards this field: I want to be part of this on going scientific revolution, which is constantly changing
and influencing how we live our lives. My interest in biology grew with the IGCSE course, especially
its introduction to fundamental genetic engineering. Further inspired by the AS syllabus, I broadened
my knowledge by reading the New Scientist. Williams and Dunbar s recent article raised a concept I
hadn t considered before: that humans and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such reading complemented my Extended Project Qualification: whether germ line gene therapy can
be a viable and ethical treatment for cystic fibrosis. Gene therapy is a controversial topic; my EPQ has
revealed to me the intense ethical debates that surround cutting edge science. Work experience at
Fujifilm Diosynth confirmed that research and practical lab work for biology and chemistry is
something I enjoy. The scientists gave me amazing opportunities to apply my knowledge to situations,
such as analysing optical density results taken from a running bioreactor. I got to see the precision
behind academic research and was taught laboratory skills used in industry every day, including the
use of gram staining to differentiate between bacterial species, and SDS PAGE gels to separate
proteins. Life at a molecular level particularly interests me, as it combines chemistry and biology to
explain concepts such as Systems Chemistry and the origins of life. Why chemical reactions happen
by J Keeler and P Wothers helped me to understand these ideas, as well as complementing my A level
chemistry course. I tested my chemistry and problem solving

Physician Assisted Suicide Should Be Legal
Physician Assisted Suicide A tough issue on the rise in the United States is whether or not Physician
Assisted Suicide (PAS) should be legal. Physician Assisted Suicide allows a physician to prescribe a
lethal dose of medication to a patient to end their life. However, the patient has to take the drugs on
their own. PAS would be only offered to those suffering from a terminal illness with less than six
months to live. The way these patients go about treating and or living with a terminal illness is a very
hard decision to make. This is the first time they have been given the choice of how they wish to die.
PAS is an option that allows the sick to avoid the immense pain in their final months. The issue
however, is whether this allows them to die with dignity or if it allows them to be taken advantage of.
Many Americans are diagnosed with a terminal illness each day. Hearing that kind of news and
knowing there is less than a year left to live and the quality of life would no doubt be heartbreaking.
During the last few months of a terminal patient s life they are often in tremendous pain and suffering.
Those with terminal illnesses are treated with life prolonging measures including chemotherapy and
radiation. These treatments and the illness itself often leave the patient s feeling as if they are a shell of
who they were and miserable. Numerous ailments such as certain types of cancer result in a slow,
agonizing death (Messerli, Joe). Physician Assisted Suicide allows

Girl Scouts Journey
I have been an active member of Girl Scouts of America for 11 years. Within my troop we participate
in coordinating events for local Girl Scouts and their families, sell cookies, nuts, and magazines
annually, as well as participate in community service. Some of the community service events we
participate in include, making Easter baskets for the local Women s Haven, making and sending
Christmas gifts to our troops overseas and veterans, making and serving food at the Salvation Army,
as well as providing hygiene and snack bags for each person we serve, and we recently provided care
packs to be sent to the families in the Butte County area that were affected by the recent wildfires that
California experienced last year. Also, my Girl Scout troop actively camps and advocates the
preservation of the wilderness.
The California Scholarship Federation at my high school actively participates in our school s peer to
peer tutor and mentor program, as well as serve food to the homeless at our local Gospel Mission and
assist in the community s effort to clean our local river, the Tuolumne River. Twice a year, we

Optimal Performance Of Java Encryption
Optimal Performance of Java Encryption
Abstract:
The usage and developments of computer and Internet technology in our life, is inseparable from the
Internet. The Growth of emerging internet and web based applications will be significant in future.
With these developments, users are enjoying quicker and more convenient services offered by the
Internet based web applications. However, we face potential security threat to sensitive information.
The data transferred over the internet or network between web applications or legacy systems can be
exposed. It is very essential to have more sophisticated protection mechanisms for web application
data transferred over the network. In addition to this, the data stored by web application in persistent
storage needs to be encrypted so as to avoid any data exposure or chance of hacking. Data encryption
is an efficient method of guaranteeing information security. There are many encryption methodologies
available to encrypt the data. As Java language used for majority of WEB application development
with its good features of portability and object oriented programming, this paper describes about the
Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) API and its performance over 128 bit and 256 bit encryption
techniques.
1. Introduction:

Economic Indicators Paper
Economic Indicators Paper
What does it mean when someone refers to the health of an economy? Furthermore, how can one
classify an economy? Americans love to quantify data. Because of this inherent need to compare data,
economists have developed a way to collect nearly every type of statistics that may reveal the general
health of the economy. These statistics actually tell if the economy is productive and efficient or if it is
slow and inefficient. Included in these statistics are Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Consumer Price
Index (CPI), Unemployment Rate, Retail Sales, Producer Price Index (PPI), and Personal Income.
Included in this paper, Team A defines the preceding six indicators, and describes their status.
Additionally, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been many indicators that have been developed to measure inflation. The CPI measures
inflation as experienced by consumers through their everyday expenses. The Producer Price Index
(PPI) measures inflation during the early stages of business development, such as production and
sales. The best measure of inflation for a given application depends upon how one intends to use this
data. CPI allows businesses to adjust prices based upon a comparison of the current cost of a defined
set of goods and/or services to the cost of those same goods at a time in the past. It is also, the best
measure to use to translate retail sales and hourly earnings into real or inflation free dollars (2005).
The CPI is the most widely used measure of inflation and is sometimes viewed as an indicator of the
effectiveness of government economic policy. It provides information about price changes in the
Nation s economy to government, business, labor, and private citizens and is used by them as a guide
to making economic decisions. In addition, the President, Congress, and the Federal Reserve Board
use trends in the CPI to aid in formulating fiscal and monetary policies.
Retail Sales Retail sales, represent an important component in the economy. Products sold by
companies, such as Target and local retail stores are tracked and reported to the Census Bureau. The
Census Bureau compiles this data on a monthly basis

Crucifixion And Last Judgement Analysis
A piece of artwork that is recognized today is the Crucifixion and Last Judgement by the famous
artist, Jan van Eyck and his workshop assistant which was made in 1440 41. Jan van Eyck was born in
Maaseik, Belgium in 1390. He is considered to be an early Netherlandish painter and significant
Renaissance artist of the 15th century who spent most of his career life in Bruges, Belgium. This
painting consists of two small panels in which one panel depicts the crucifixion of Jesus and the other
portrays scenes that associate themselves with the Last Judgement. In the first panel you can see a
crowd surround Jesus during his crucifixion. In the background, you can see a clear picture of
Jerusalem. On the bottom you can you see five people that appear to be ... Show more content on

As the viewer, when you look at this woman, it makes me follow her gaze to what she looks at which I
believe to be the reason as to why the artist painted her in that way. From my knowledge on this scene
from varies movies, soldiers would come and break the legs of those crucified to speed their death.
When they came to Jesus, they could not break his legs as he was already dead. Instead, a solider
pierced his side with his lance to assure themselves that he was dead. In the Last Judgement panel,
you can see that the artist divided the painting into three different sections which depict heaven, earth
and hell. In the section where heaven can be portrayed you can see a couple of angels above Christ
blowing on their horns and Christ, himself is sitting in the center of many angels and saints. Jesus still
appears to have the wounds of his crucifixion and the wound received from the soldier s spear, but
instead of being naked, he is wearing a red robe. To the right and left of Jesus, you can see Mary (left)
and John the Baptist (right) kneeling next to him and praying. Jesus, Mary and John the Baptist have a

With up to 3/4 of the world s television audience watching American programming, the tool of
American conversation is becoming the tool of the world s conversation, and the topic of conversation
is violence.
American television viewers have an insatiable appetite for televised violence, and as they become
desensitized to violent images they seek out stronger images. The image providers have discovered a
novel way to increase the intensity of the violent images move away from entertainment violence and
show real violence. In the past few years real life and death programming has become more
commonplace on television, both as news and entertainment programming. Shows like Cops, Real
Life Encounters with Wild Animals, and Real Highway Pursuits have begun to appear on our
television screens with an incresing regularity. These programs routinely show acts of real violence,
caught on home video. Television news directors have adopted the credo if it bleeds, it leads to such
an extent that it has almost become cliche. The thrill of watching fake violence is waning and being
replaced by the drama of watching real violence. And the higher the body count, the more we watch.
Nothing manufactures violent images on a larger scale than a war and, consequently, American

  • 2. Cas About The Pencil Crumbling Cas liked to sketch. He liked the feel of the pencil crumbling against his paper, he loved the feel of moving his hand to shape something, and he loved creating something just for himself. So they weren t the best drawings in the world, but that didn t matter to Cas. He nodded his head a little in time with the music that was pouring out from his headphones, gazing over the sight he was sketching. There was a water fountain in his town that overlooked one of the busiest streets in his town. Every minute or so the sidewalk separating the road from the fountain would erupt in spontaneous explosions of water. There was a sprinkler system along the path that to Cas was so beautiful to watch. Every time the water started to spray ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Music was blasting, banners were flying and they were all smiling and cheering. Cas longed to join them, to celebrate his identity and to be free. When he d told his father it had not been a happy day in the Novak family. Cas was ignored, his announcement taken as some kind of sick joke. His father had banished him from ever talking about being gay again. After months of explaining, his father had finally acknowledged that Cas was telling the truth. He was never allowed to mention it again, his father had told him, or he d no longer be his son. On this particular day, all Cas father would talk about was those disgusting homos and he d looked like he was about to be sick when they came down the road. Cas had snapped. He dropped his fathers groceries and started to move towards the happy crowd. His father had not said a word to him, but his face said it all. 5 years later and Cas was still yet to hear his fathers voice. Cas had joined in a row of people who all had rainbows drawn on their face and a few small banners between them. A very beautiful red headed girl around his own age had greeted him with nothing but warmness. The boy next to her had a rainbow wig on a mask on. Cas wondered if he wasn t allowed to be seen at pride or something. Still he seemed to be having a good time. • 3. A Small Porch By Wendell Berry The book A Small Porch was written by an essayist, poet, novelist and farmer known as Wendell Berry. He was born in New Castle at a place called Kentucky on August 5, 1934. He received his BA in English and an MA in 1956 and 1957 respectively. Berry has authored more than thirty books in the form of essays, poetry, and novels. Among the books he wrote A Small Porch is one of the most popular works associated with him. It is a collection of poems conveying different messages. The poet delivers the information using various elements of poetry. Among them is the symbolism, which is, be the principal focus of this paper. The first instance where symbolism is evident is in the poem The long cold drive life inward. There are several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mockingbird sings is another poem where symbolism is utilized (pg. VI). A mockingbird is an individual who is presented as an innocent person by the narrator. Despite doing or saying what is right for his lover and himself, the information he tries delivering to his lover remains unclear. He ends up repeating the same actions and says to please his lover. The narrator refers to him as silly and egotistical and that the song he sings is only clear to him and not to others about the direction of the message conveyed in the song. He ends up failing and probably suffers out of unclear intentions. The connection of the poem to the title of the book is that the innocent person in the poem is nature which tries to please humans but all in vain. The other section where symbolism is evident is Small Porch in the Woods. It is divided into several poems. In the first one, there is the mention of unshifting star which represents a change that is undisturbed. It is the turning point of the society. Despite the challenges communities face in their life, their ambition leads them towards achieving their objectives in life. The second poem under this section is about a heavy rain that fell in the month of April. Heavy rain is the representation of unhappy moments. The description presented by the narrator shows that it is a sad moment where everything is carried away. Throughout the poem, the rain is seen, as a lesson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Construct Validity Research The above examples provide evidence that a personality measurement can be examined through its reliability. A good personality test should have the same findings in different occasions (i.e. test retest reliability) and also all of the items in the test should be measuring the same thing (i.e. internal consistency). Nevertheless, personality measurement can be evaluated by its validity as well. Construct validity is one of the main subtypes of validity. Construct validity refers to the ability that a personality test measures what it is intended to measure. Discriminant validity is a subtype of construct validity, which refers to the extent that the concept that is not related to the test doesn t emerge in the test. Soto, C. J., John, O. P. (2009) tested the discriminant validity by comparing the BFI with the NEO PI R. They showed that the correlation between the BFI and NEO PI R facet scales has high discriminant validity. Each BFI facet scales correlated most with the corresponding NEO PI R facet scales than with the other NEO PI R facet. This research demonstrated that BFI is discriminant valid because it only correlates most with the corresponding items on the NEO PI R. Furthermore, McCrae and Costa, P. T. • 6. Personal Reflection Of The Pain Management On 2B I have been taken care of 4 patients towards the end of my time on 2B. I think I handled it well. It can be challenging sometimes. For example, I had to discharge one patient by 10am. And the staff meeting for my newly admitted patient was around the same time. Besides, one of my patients approached me to have PRNs, the forth patient also requested a shave. On 2B, shaving has to be supervised by staff. All my patients needed me at once. I learned to ask help from other RNs and delegate appropriate tasks to NA in order to get things done on time. Sometimes, we don t have enough help. I had to prioritize my tasks and patients needs. Of course, I offer my help to my fellow RNs when they re busy. I had completed blood draws for others many times (11). The pain management on 2B is quite different. (7) This is because many of the common non pharmacological interventions are considered unsafe due to the high suicide risk in our patient population. There is no heat or cold pad due to the toxic chemical contents. K pad is also not available due to the long tubings for risk of strangulation. Aromatherapy is also out of picture. I often feel limited when my patients ask me for pain interventions as there are not as many options available as in other units. Fortunately, there are organized group activities offered by OT daily on 2B. They mainly focus on relaxation, meditation, and mindfulness practices. I encourage my patients to participate in those groups, and practice those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Rising Cost Of California Essay The Rising Cost of Tuition in California State Universities The cost of tuition for California State Universities has skyrocketed over the last 10 years. It has forced many students to take out expensive student loans to complete their educational goals, often times leaving graduating college students steep in debt as they enter the workforce. Some of the contributing factors that I am going to address are inflation, the rising cost of living and the varying costs of different educational institutions Webster s dictionary defines inflation: as a continuing rise in the general price level usually attributed to an increase in the volume of money and credit relative to available goods and services. During the last 10 years we have seen and felt the effects of inflation. Services and goods have gone up in price, but the minimum wage for most Californians stayed the same for a number of years. Inflation is a key factor that has affected tuition costs in most universities and has helped contribute to the steady rise. Public and private schools each typically have their own college inflation rate, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inflation definitely has played a role and will continue to do so in the future as the economy changes and adapts. It is clear that in the last ten years tuition cost spiked and in some areas doubled. The cost of living was also a contributing factor for the spiked tuition costs. California Universities are amongst some of the best in the nation, but they come with a price tag that unfortunately many cannot afford. Finally the varying universities and the quality of the programs often dictate the costs. This was clear in the comparison between Fresno State and California Polytechnic State. Both offer quality education in specific fields for the right price. As some would say, A good education is not cheap, and a cheap education is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The And School Based Crisis Essay WK3Assgn+first initial+last name.doc Assignment Turnitin week 4: Name: Institution: Assignment Turnitin week 4 Briefly describe the two specific systemic crises you have selected. In this week application, I will pay attention to natural disaster (floods) and school based crisis situations. Floods refer to an overflow of water from a water body due to excessive rainfall or input in water from its source exceeding the usual capacity of the water body. The over whelming flow of water is catastrophic leading to destruction of infrastructure, plants as well as causing loss of life to both animal and human beings. Flood may occur slowly while in cases of flash flood, they occur instantly within a short duration of minutes. School based crisis refer to unforeseen predicaments affecting a school set up. A school based crisis affects quite a significant portion of the school fraternity. Generally such crisis include: death of student, staff member or a community member who had had a big role in the school, major environmental crisis such as fire and situations that compromise the safety of students for instance a school bus accident, insecurity among others. Explain how the two crises are similar and how they are different, including their breadth of impact. On similarity, both situations involve destruction of properties and physical injury of victims, when it an environmental school based crisis. They also involves loss of life when the situation in the school ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fresh water creek is used by local residents for recreational, leisure activities. Throughout this report, students will be analysing the water qualities of freshwater creek. Water or (H20, or H0H) is one of the most abundant important molecule on Earth. Water is the only substance that occurs naturally in all the three forms (solid, liquid and gas). A water molecule is a bent molecule with a V Shape. A bent molecule is similar to a trigonal planar but lacks the third atom, instead the third molecule is replaced with unshared electrons (APPENDIX dd). A water molecule consists of one oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms. In a water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The unequal sharing of the oxygen and hydrogen atoms is called polar. A polar molecule is a molecule made up of two different atoms which have asymmetrical distribution around the molecule, this implies that the molecule has a slightly negative and positive charge at each ends of the molecule. The end which is more electronegative has a slightly negative charge (δ ) and the side with the less electronegativity has a slight positive charge (δ+). Polar molecules tend to have a greater electronegative difference of 0.5 and less than 1.6. In order for a molecule to obtain polarity, the two molecule has to have a net pole and dipole moment, where a separation of the charge of the molecule go into a positive area or a negative area. The dipole moment can be visualised by drawing an arrow from the positively charged side to the negatively charged side, in a polar molecule the arrow points towards the same direction, whereas a nonpolar molecule has arrows pointing in different directions. Molecules which possess both an asymmetrical electronegativity and geometry is classified as a polar. Water is a special type of covalent bond called a hydrogen bond, this bond is similar to dipole dipole forces but has a greater intermolecular force. • 10. The Concert Is Berlioz s Symphonie Fantastique The concert is Berlioz s Symphonie Fantastique, performed by The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Stéphane Denève, recorded in high definition at Orchestra Hall in December 2013. Symphonie Fantastique composed in 1845, by Hector Berlioz (1803 1869), is a program symphony; a five movement orchestral work that tells the story described by the CSO (2013) as a purely musical melodrama , a colorful illustration of the life of an artist, replete with unrequited love, witches, guillotines and colorful, opium induced hallucinations . Its composer, Hector Berlioz at the age of twenty seven wrote Symphonie Fantastique both to explore German Romanticism and to give his hometown of Paris a symphony of its own; something not yet native to this city of operas and ballets (CSO, 2013). Berlioz s symphonic back ground in the operatic overture alludes to his program notes presented as the spoken text of an opera . The memorable dramatic flair of Symphonie Fantastique is understood to be one of the most well known pieces of program music in his repertoire and is suggested that the story is a self portrait of its composer, Hector Berlioz. Innovative the time, Berlioz devised a program to be given out to audience members at the performances stating it is indispensable for a complete understanding of the dramatic outline of the work. Berlioz s outlines the story in the preface of the program for his Symphonie Fantastique (1830): A young musician of morbid sensitivity and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thus, should EID s be considered an oncoming threat to human existence or is it God s response to our unbiblical stewardship of the Earth or is it nature s practical solution to overpopulation. Past EIDs Since the beginning of time, human existence has been overwhelmed by threatening diseases. Another term for Mad Cow disease is Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), which is a disease observed solely in cattle. Mad Cow disease or BSE is transmitted to humans via the consumption of infected beef resulting in a fatal human brain disorder known as Creutzfeldt Jacob (CJD). As a result of this British beef scare 32 people died of CJD, of whose deaths were linked to Mad Cow disease (10.e). Similarly, 1 million chickens were gassed to death in Hong Kong in 1997 in order to prevent the already undertaking spread of Influenza A (H5N1) or Bird Flu . The worst Influenza A epidemic occurred in the United States killing 20 million people in 1918 (10.b). Strategic Problem and Issues: In the performance apparel market the top three competitors consist of Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour, with Nike leading the industry and Under Armour coming in last. The Challenge for Under Armor will be can they stand the pressure from their competitors as they expand into a bigger market. They must be able to provide their customers with either cheaper or better products, the companies marginal cost should be better than that of their competitors, and Under Armour must prove to their customers that their products are different and overall better than their competitors (Terfis Team, 2014). If they re able to succeed through these risk, then Under Armour will have a fighting chance of competing with those larger companies. This reaction is called oxidation. Oxidation can occur on old cars, iron, exhaust and even the burning of fossil fuels. When wood, natural gas, or coal burns, the oxygen in the air combines with the carbon and hydrogen in the fuel to produce water and the oxides of carbon. (Prentice Hall Chemistry The Study of Matter p.599.) Rust may seem like an average everyday phenomenon, however many things we cannot see take place as the rust begins to form. Re occuringly, our reading material conveys the idea of static members. During the course of chapter five, I develop a keen understanding on how to use static members, say variables and methods. Building static variables and methods means building class members that hold the same values through all instances. No matter how many instances of a class I instantiate, static members will retain the same value. This is useful for global placement of data. Building non static variables and methods means building class members that are unique to each instance of the class you create. Create a backbone class, which lays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chapter five teaches me to instantiate variables of references of objects with the new keyword, before trying to use my variable. How I Can Use Null Pointer Wisdom in My Own Programming at Home Moreover, many programmers, like me, have their development cycle haulted when the SDK or 3DEngine crashes, and all the console says is null pointer exception. From reading chapter five, I can tell you this exception is thrown when an object referenced variable was not instantiated. This error is simple to fix, takes initializing the troubled variable with the new keyword and constructor of its referenced object class, and there we go. Months of questioning and advice seeking on SDK forums can be bypassed with chapter five, when all you really need to do is identify which variable on the call stack is causing the null pointer reference. Identify which object reference it should have, and initialize it with the new keyword and class constructor. Arrays of Type Object I like writing in depth learning journals, because looking back on learning journals point out material I find especially interesting. Arrays of type object are handy when you ve created an object class, and need to spawn an array of them. In Bellow s novel the reader is given an inside view to Sammler s thoughts, so the journey he takes to rediscover or redefine his faith is evident. Sammler s recollection on killing the soldier to save his own life defines for the reader a perfect example of the self admitted lack of faith Sammler possessed as well as the readmission of his relationship with God. To kill the man and to kill him without pity, for he was dispensed from pity. There was a flash, a blot of fiery white. When he shot again it was less to make sure of the man than to try again for that bliss. To drink more flames. He would have thanked God for that opportunity. If he had had any God. At that time he did not. For many years, in his own mind, there was no judge but himself. (Bellow 141). Physician Assisted Suicide allows a physician to prescribe a lethal dose of medication to a patient to end their life. However, the patient has to take the drugs on their own. PAS would be only offered to those suffering from a terminal illness with less than six months to live. The way these patients go about treating and or living with a terminal illness is a very hard decision to make. This is the first time they have been given the choice of how they wish to die. PAS is an option that allows the sick to avoid the immense pain in their final months.
