For comic book enthusiasts during the 1950 s, Frederic Wertham was more threatening to the
reader than any fictitious villain that they had read of before. This is because Dr. Frederic
Wertham dedicated his career to attacking the negative impact comic books had on its readers.
Additionally, he discussed the atrocious social implications they produced in American culture.
Wertham took a similar viewpoint to Sigmund Freud in that he believed, one s morals are
strongly influenced by the society in which a person lives. With this view, Wertham sought to
answer the question; why is juvenile delinquency rapidly growing in the United States? In order
to answer this, Wertham decided to blame comic books for being the primary cause of the rise in

The mass production of things affected the skills of the workers because they were no longer
doing multiple things in factories. The workers specialized in one part of the process because of
the use of assembly lines. Therefore, they didn t have the skills that they would ve had if each

The internet and the increase in social media use have created a whole new dimension to
bullying and hazing. While cyber bullying is relatively young in comparison to bullying and
hazing, it is no less vicious in nature, and like the Internet, it continues to evolve over time (
National , n.d., p. 1). Policies and procedures need to be continually updated as technology and
the way students communicate rapidly change. There are countless examples of social media
used to bully students. In a case in Iowa, Kiana Phelps was cyber bullied because of her success

photos of her working out accompanied with rude and sarcastic comments. The students went so
far as to claim online that Phelps only gets attention because her older sister had died of anorexia
