Essay Examples High School
Writing an essay on the topic of "Essay Examples High School" can be a challenging task that
requires a careful balance of creativity, critical thinking, and the ability to engage the reader. The
difficulty lies in not only presenting a well-structured and coherent argument but also in
selecting relevant examples that resonate with high school students.
One of the challenges is finding the right balance between providing concrete examples and
maintaining a broader perspective. It's essential to avoid getting too bogged down in specific
details and anecdotes, yet the examples chosen should be relatable to the high school audience.
Additionally, crafting an essay that is both informative and engaging requires a thorough
understanding of the target audience's interests, concerns, and level of comprehension.
Another hurdle is the potential for the topic to be perceived as mundane or overdone. High
school essay topics often cover familiar ground, and finding a fresh angle or unique perspective
can be demanding. Striking a balance between originality and adhering to the conventional
structure of an essay poses its own set of challenges.
Furthermore, writing an essay on this topic requires a comprehensive review of various essay
examples to extract relevant insights and understand different approaches. This process demands
time and effort to analyze and synthesize information effectively. It involves not only
researching existing essays but also critically evaluating their strengths and weaknesses to inform
the development of a well-rounded and impactful essay.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of "Essay Examples High School" demands a
combination of research, creativity, and a deep understanding of the target audience.

Scarlett Ibis Analysis
In the Scarlett Ibis written by James Hurst, he sets a gloomy throughout the beginning
of the story drawing readers in, forcing them wonder the unfortunate events that were
yet to happen in the narrative. These loving brothers only want the optimum for one
another which results in one of the main characters, Brother, urging his ailing brother,
Doodle, to the point of death, which is a clear example of the theme James Hursthad
demonstrated throughout the Scarlett Ibis . Although Brother only intended to
encourage Doodle and make him feel accepted, it revealed how when you love
someone so much, you end up maiming them the greatest. During the story, Brother,
although caring deeply about Doodle, continued to generate selfish decisions based
off of his personal reputation ignoring the severity of Doodle s condition.
Brother s selfishness has driven his brother to death, an extremity that was not
desired from either Doodle or Brother. With only few days left until school starts,
Brother realizes this extravagant wish for Doodle to run, swim, climb trees, and
fight is unfeasible and starts to drift into the thought of why he is pushing this goal
so much. He realizes the truth, it was because of his selfishness. I should have
already admitted to defeat, but my pride wouldn t let me. (Hurst, 8) In this quote,
Brother admits that his selfishness is driving this unreachable goal for Doodle to be
able to run, swim, climb trees, and fight. His own pride causes his brother, that
The Ghost in the Black Gown- Creative Writing Essay
It was the year 1972 September 8th. The wind was gushing into my face; the rain
was pelting down on my head. My car had just broken down in the middle of the
woods and there was no kind of help in sight. There were heavy thunderstorms, and
I heard the birds fluttering away. It was scary looking at the sky. I walked a few
yards and I saw in the distance an eerie looking house. I was hesitant to go to the
house for help but realized there was no other option. As I walked cautiously
towards the house I heard the clock struck one from inside. I looked up as the moon
shone brightly back at me. Knocking on the door I heard a creaking sound coming
from inside. My heart was beating so fast I thought I... Show more content on

Mrs. Brown introduced him to be Mr. Birch, the cleaner of the house. I said hello to
him and continued to follow Mrs. Brown very closely. I don t know why, but for
some reason I felt like there was something very peculiar about this house. Finally, we
reached the room I was to stay in. It was a multi colored room with red dead flowers
lying on the bed and had double glazed windows which had cobwebs all over.
Somehow I felt I would not be able to sleep in this room knowing that there were
webs in every corner of the room. Mrs. Brown said, Goodnight. I ll see you in the
morning, and she left. As I sat down on the bed, I saw a huge spider run across the
room. I ran out of the room and down the stairs. I just missed a step and I fell over
bashing my head towards the brown greasy wall. Mr. Birch came sprinting to me and
asked if I needed help. I said, No, I m fine. Just missed a step. I am actually quite
scared of spiders so when I saw one I freaked out. Oh don t worry, he said, they won t
harm you. I can t sleep, is there any chance I could get a glass of milk? I asked. Yeah,
sure! Follow me. He replied. I followed him to the kitchen and I sat down on the
kitchen table as he handed me the glass of milk. He whispered to me, I ll have a

Happy Feet And Kung Fu Panda
Different from the outside, but same in the inside
Happy Feet and Kung Fu Panda are two good movies that have different themes. The
two movies have different plots at first glance, but later on show resemblances when
analyzed more closely. The two protagonist in Happy Feet (Mumble) and Kung Fu
Panda (Po) both start off unfitting and strange, later on being rejected by their peers
and community. They want to become accepted by others, but struggle to redeem
themselves. Happy Feet and Kung Fu Panda are different, because one is about a
penguin that can t sing and the other is about a Panda that wants to learn Kung Fu
and is unfit, but both show many similarities.

Then in Happy Feet, Mumble grew older and the penguins don t hang out with
him, because of his weird tap dancing. He s trying to fit in and make friends, so he
goes to a party. Mumble then ruins the celebration with his awful singing, and
leaves the group. Mumble was too different and disapproved by the other penguins,
because of his strange tap dancing and unable to sing. Mumble is then casted away
from the penguin community. His Father approves and think it s the best decision.
He then leaves on a floating iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean. On Kung Fu Panda, Po
was thought to be accidently chosen of being the Dragon Warrior. His idols were
his new peers, but they were displeased with the decision. His Master and his peers
disapprove him and think he unqualified of being the Dragon Warrior, especially
for being obese and think he got in by accident, and refuse to acknowledge him. He
is being made fun of, for being fat and clumsy. His Master and his peers try to

different from the others and are being disregarded. They re peers are trying to

America s Involvement and the Intentions of Wilson’s...
Most of the World s major Nations were in a state of turmoil from the year 1914
1918, during the conflict of World War I. This War to End all Wars began with the
German s pushing other European Nation s buttons, including the progression of
militarism, imperialism, nationalism, and the creation of alliances among all of the
Nations. After the course of three years of grueling trench warfare the tide of the
Germans was receding, and President Woodrow Wilsonof the United States presented
his famous Fourteen Points, in hope that he would direct all Nations to aspire for the
establishment of world peace. Wilson s first proposal for the treaty among the
Nations stated that no secret treaties should be made among Nations. This point is...

Fourth, the amount of arms in a Nation s possession must be limited to the lowest

directly related to America, because during the development of the European

Nation had substantial arms to defend during crisis, peace negotiations would be

obtain land, but were defeated, and in serious trouble. America didn t really have a
say in this affair, because they were to gain no land, and lost none either. However
Wilson felt that it was his responsibility to keep the other Nations from completely
ruining Germany s economy, by being the mediator and taking reasonable amounts

The points 6 13 dealt with boundary changes that were to take place under the Treaty
of Versailles. The countries that would be affected by these changes include: Russia,
Belgium, Montenegro, the Polish, Romania, Serbia, and the Turkish people.
Wilson s final point promoted the League of Nations. The creation of an International

The Complex Role Of Sex Education In Medieval
Christianity
Sex Education in Medieval Christianity attempts to get into the reasoning behind the
Catholic Churches stance on sex during the Medieval period. Vern Bullough
constructs the complex nature of the attitude toward sex during this time through his
selected primary sources. He then sets out to explain the how the Church dealt with
sex, and how it conveyed its message to an often uneducated population. His writing
contributes a great insight into the mindset of the people at the time. Bullough
presents the writings and ideas of St. Augustine as the foundation of the Catholic
Churches stance on sex. St. Augustine believed that the fall of man from paradise
was the point tipping point when sex went from an act of purity to one of base
desire. Adam
Role Of Rebellion In Fahrenheit 451

When is rebellion a necessary response?
Rebellion can be an act of violence or resistance of formal rule. It is recognized
through written letters, such as Martin Luther King Junior s Letter from Birmingham
Jail , or books like Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Rebellion is a necessary response
when there are heinous acts being expound in a tyranny. People don t conform to
society when they refuse to go along with the status quo. Rebelling against their
societies status quo means there may be social structural issues as well as political
ones. Independence is a desired outcome when a form of rebellion occurs, which is
why many people create a rebellious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Montag was tired of the status quo and chose to rebel, which was a necessary act
in order to save himself. I feel alive for the first time in years, said Faber. I feel I m
doing what I should ve done a lifetime ago. For a little while I m not afraid. Maybe
it s because I m doing the right thing at last (131). In this chapter Montag finally
prevails and escapes the city, he was tired of conforming to the society s standards.
He realized, reading books is not a bad thing, in fact the opposite. Status quo does
not always have to be maintained or kept constant. If someone does not believe that
a society should be run that way, then they may rebel.4In Civil Disobedience and
Deliberative Democracy , William Smith says At the same time, this duty of
democratic decisions may be overridden by the good of expressing opposition to the
status quo through civil disobedience (Civil Disobedience and Deliberative
Democracy). When someone takes action about an opinionated structure, like a status
quo, they are following an act of civil disobedience, by overcoming injustice
The Endocrine System Essay
The endocrine system is a group of glands distributed throughout the human body.
This group of glands secretes substances called hormones. These hormones are
dumping into the bloodstream (Shier, Butler Lewis, 2009). The endocrine system
does not have a single anatomic location. It is dispersed throughout the human body.
The final purpose of this process is to control, regulate, and coordinate the
functioning of the human body. Some body functions can be activated or inhibited
by hormones, which are secreted in very small quantities. The hormone related
diseases may be due to hyper secretion, or a hypo secretion. The hormones secreted
by the endocrine glandsregulate growth, development and function of many tissues,
and coordinate the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hyperthyroidism (too much hormone) may result Grave s disease. Symptoms include
anxiety, rapid heart rate, diarrhea and weight loss, nervousness, anxiety, and
irritability.
The parathyroid glands are located in front of the base of the neck around the thyroid
gland and secrete parathyroid hormone. Parathyroid hormone regulates blood levels
of calcium and phosphorus. This hormone (parathyroid hormone) affects the bones,
kidney, and intestine (Shier et al., 2009).
Adrenal glands are endocrine glands that sit atop the kidneys (Shier et al., 2009).
The adrenal glands secrete hormones that increase heart rate, the force of cardiac
muscle contraction, breathing rate, elevate blood pressure and blood glucose level.
This activity prepares the body foe energy expending action, sometimes called fight
or flight responses (Shier et al., 2009).
According to Shier, Butler Lewis (2009) other glands that produce hormones and thus
are parts of the endocrine system include the pineal gland and the thymus gland .
Shier et al., 2009 argued the pineal gland, located deep between the cerebral
hemispheres, secretes hormone melatonin that acts on certain brain regions that
function as a biological clock. The changing levels of melatonin across 24 hours
enable the body to know when day is and when is night.
Shier et al., 2009 explain that

Response Paper 4 How have economic development and globalization changed the
ecology of human health and disease? In your discussion, include aging, infectious
disease, and chronic disease. You should discuss the concept of epidemiological
transitions Prehistoric humans had no notion for the differences between a PPO or
an HMO benefits package, nor any reason to concern themselves. Similarly, most
people today haven t the slightest idea how to clean a fish. To be fair to both groups,
our environment has changed drastically in the interim, as have our collective needs.

and minimize want, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first epidemiological transition, according to Newman, came with the Neolithic
revolution around 6,000 B.C. Populations exploded as agricultural technologies
advanced, but the supply of food rarely exceeded the growing need. The widespread
effects of resultant malnutrition are most readily observable in the altered growth
and maturation rates of the children surviving dietary crises, their disease
susceptibilities, and in the vitality of the adults. [...] Another consequence of chronic
undernutrition is reduced resistance to [infectious] disease (Newman, 62). This can
be seen in civilizations overly reliant on maize, such as depression era Southerners in
the United States (Bock, 14). Maize comes up short in amino acid content, which in
this case led to a condition called pellagra, a niacin deficiency characterized by
diarrhea, dermatitis, and dementia. Unfortunately, malnutrition has not subsided with
the passing of time, and industrialized agriculture has supplanted infectious disease
with its chronic counterpart, at an alarming rate of morbidity.
A large contributor to this most recent epidemiological transition is the old guard of
food conglomerates like corn and milk. An informal investigation of the packaged
food in the local supermarket will confirm this assertion. Corn, in one form or
another, is contained in almost every iteration of junk food distributed around the
world. From snack
Fahrenheit 451 Poverty Quotes
In the past there are many struggles you need to overcome. Depression in a poor
family, violence in a city and also no education. That relates to Guy Montag in the
novel. He was in a city with no books to read and educate himself with and he was
in a city where people would drive cars as fast as they can to treat themselves when
sad. He made sure that he got the happiness he wanted and the life he wanted which
would also show the theme happiness depends on ourselves. In Fahrenheit 451by Ray

He was three hundred yards downstream when the Hound reached the river.
Overhead the great racketing fans of the helicopters hovered. A storm of light fell;
upon the river and Montag dived under the great illumination as if the sun had

Montag s journey to happiness. This quote would soon make Montag run away
from the city life and inland where he would soon find a man named Granger. He
would be accepted into a group where books are welcomed. This would support the
claim that the better theme is Happiness is not a station you arrive, but a manner of
traveling because Montag going this route and traveling on the run brings suspense
into his life and helps motivate him to run away to find somewhere where he can
read books peacefully and not be a criminal to the known world. But a quote to

Chapter 1 Book Review Of Cook Pollan
In part the reason why the books is so compelling is because Pollan states upfront
his own short comings with cooking. He also puts things into prospective of the
reader in a way that even the least experienced cook can relate to his experiences.
He composes his book into four parts which reflect the four masters who teach him
their art form of choice. These are broken down into the four elements: fire, water,
air, and earth. In the first portion of the book, Fire, he learns the techniques behind
cooking a whole hog over a fire. The second portion, Water, he learns how to cook
pot dishes like stews, soups, and braises. The third portion, Air, he learns how to
make bread from home started yeast and bacteria. The last portion, earth, is where he
learns about the fermentation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is supported in each chapter by research done through his work, through what
each master chief, as well as his own experiences with his family. His goal of the
book was to make people see that starting to cook one s own food instead of relying
on manufacturers to do it for you is the best way to go to combat obesity and
health problems. In the Fire chapter this is shown by his research into the
evolutionary aspect of the cook fire and how it changed the way our ancestors ate.
This affected how humans evolved as a specie. In the Water chapter he goes into the
chemistry behind cooking vegetables in a pot and how the bacteria in the human
body benefits from the breakdown of these ingredients in slow cooking water. The
Air chapter the research that is explains is how the manufacturing process of foods
are stripping it of vital nutrients. In the Earth chapter there is explanations of how
natural fermentation introduces the good bacteria back into our GI tract because we
are constantly destroying good bacteria with the process of anti bacterial

Contrasting the Natural and Mechanical Worlds in...
Contrasting the Natural and Mechanical Worlds in Hathaway s Oh, Oh
The French poet and essayist Louis Aragon, in his Paris Peasant, wrote that light is
meaningful only in relation to darkness, and truth presupposes error we only exist in
terms of this conflict, in the zone where black and white clash (Aragon 18). Aragon
noted that the world is full of contrasts, and it is through those contrasts that we live
and understand who we are and why we are here. Without an understanding of light,
Aragon argues, we cannot understand what darkness really is. Or, without an
awareness as to the concept of truth, one cannot possibly error, for the act cannot be
defined. In William Hathaway s poem Oh, Oh, the poet uses language, word ... Show

The dominant contrast in Oh, Oh is created by the comforting versus harsh
descriptions of the natural versus the mechanical. This contrast is created not only
through images, but also through a careful collaboration of word choices selected by
Hathaway. Perhaps the most easily recognizable of these is found in the middle of the
poems only stanza. After the author s persona and his girl have walked through the
country, they encounter the invasion of a train. But, the action of the intrusion is not
what is important here; rather, the language that is used to describe both situations is
what must be examined.
For example, in the first half of the poem, which for the most part describes the
country, the language is filled with beautiful sentences filled with adjective after
adjective after adjective. A simple encounter with cows in a field becomes moo
cows chomping daisies, our own / sweet saliva green with grass stems (2 3). But, on
the entrance of the locomotive, the language changes. The complex, drawn out, three
adjective statement maple dappled summer sunlight is replaced by a sterile and
simple lit headlight (8). From that point forward, the long sentences disappear. Only
when the couple experiences the mechanical real world, do they lose the power of
language to describe what they see.
Another technique that Hathaway uses extensively to demonstrate the difference

The Theory Of Mind Mechanism ( Tomm )
Though many of us may not realize it, humans have a remarkable set of abilities
that allows us to understand, empathize with, and predict others thoughts and
feelings. In other words, the average person is able to put himself in another s
shoes. In our daily lives we tend to take this skill for granted. It is only when
something goes wrong that we realize how important it actually is. For autistic
individuals, this mindreading deficit is all too real. In fact, an inability to engage in
this type of understanding of other s mental states is often taken as the hallmark sign
of autism. Mindreading is defined as the ability to make sense of other people and to
coordinate our behavior with theirs (Bermudez, 354). Many cognitive scientists
believe the theory of mindmechanism (TOMM) is important to mindreading. These
scientists contend that autistic individuals suffer from an impairment to this theory
of mind module. However, others have argued that theory of mind, which is the
ability to form beliefs about the mental states of others , is not a modular ability, but
instead the result of the interaction of many different cognitive skills. In their paper
Generous or Parsimonious Cognitive Architecture? Cognitive Neuroscience and
Theory of Mind, Philip Gerrans and Valerie E. Stone take this view of theory of
mind. I will review this paper and its arguments, then address the response to Gerrans
and Stone made by Carl Hildebrand. Gerrans s and Stone s argument consists of

The Use Of Personal Anecdotes On The Audience And It
It is within the human nature to be interested in other people s experiences.
Whether it be with reality shows or blog posts, people like to hear different
incidents through diverse perspectives. Writers take advantage of this curiosity
and try to tie experiences into their works. Many times writers will include
experiences of their own in order to convince their audience of their perspective on
a subject. These personal experiences are done in order to make an impact on the
audience and it is written in a certain way to make it the most efficient for the
readers. The use of personal anecdotes is effective when details are described to the
point where readers can create their own opinions, when they are used as the main
topic against an argumentas opposed to being an unimportant detail, and when it has
the ability to appeal to the audience s emotion.
Details within the anecdote are best described to the point where the audience can
draw their own conclusions on what is happening. Description is crucial in order
to fully understand what is going on. In the case of Blue Collar Brilliance , written
by Mike Rose, the author puts in a lot of time to adequately describe what the
significance of his experiences mean and how they contribute to the story. Fry four

Summary Of Esther Duflo s Poor Economics
In Poor Economics, Esther Duflo makes a cutting statement: even the most well
thought out policies may not have an impact of they are not implemented correctly .
She draws a distinct line between policies and politics and exposes how the latter can
affect the implementation of policies. This post will exemplify such scenario with the
implementation of the Washington Consensus (WC) in Latin America during the
1980 s. Latin America was immersed in a severe debtcrisis. Governments were
defaulting on payments owed to the IMF and the United States. Convinced there was
a huge problem, policy makers from Washington and the IMF decided to draft a 10
policy document that Latin American countries must follow if they wished to borrow

These companies are currently operating in the Austin, Texas marketplace and are a
large competitor. In addition, the market can easily offer skilled workers and great
benefits. Landslide must offer a benefits package to keep up with their competitor,
and if they wish to stay in business, keeping their employees satisfied amongst
competition is a must. Team A recommends that Landslide must offer similar or
improved benefits to their employees. Further, Landslide should offer a training
program to entry level employees so that the service is exceptional and customers
will continue to utilize their business. Compensation and Benefits Strategy When
running an organization, managers and other members of leaders needs to take a
look at the compensation and benefit strategy. A strategic plan for employee
compensation determines how much you want to pay employees and what type of
employees you want to attract. Your compensation plan entails a variety of aspects
including pay scales, reward programs, benefits packages and company perks. A
successful strategic compensation plan allows your business to compete in the
market for the best employees in your industry ( Strategic Plan for Employee
Compensation and Benefits , 2014). Here are a few recommendation I would make to
help with the creation of a compensation and benefit strategy plan. Attracting Quality

Workplace Health And Wellness Programs Essay
Employers also want healthy employees in order to avoid absences, enhance
productivity, and improve morale, (Mujtaba, 2013, p.193). Mujtaba et. al (2013)
examined corporate wellness programs specifically within the American workplace.
Texas and Florida are the two states with the highest percentage of individuals under
the age of 65 without health insurancebecause the cost is too high. As a result, many
employers are implementing workplace healthand wellness programs in hopes to
lower the costs of their health care plans. An average cost Mujtaba et. al (2013) has
found for operating a workplace health and wellness programs per participant range
from $50.00 $150.00 annually. Although, studies have shown if the employee
participates in the health and wellness programs, the cost for health insurance plans
decrease anywhere from $100.00 $500.00. Another aspect discovered was these
workers tend to be more productive, have fewer rates of absenteeism, and use less of
their health insurance resources, (Mujtaba et al., 2013, p.193). Due to the
implementation of workplace health and wellness programs avast, there are strengths
and weaknesses for each unique programs generated. Although, it is apparent the
cost per health insurance plan per employee has effectively been lowered after
participation in the programs, employees have led healthier lifestyles, and Mujtaba

Students From Low Income Families
Some people believe that students from low income families have little to offer.
However, I consider that low income students have extra to offer as they have
emerged from harsh situations that have nurtured hard work and encouraged their
eagerness to succeed. My families financial situation is below the povertyline which
is why I am pursuing a higher educationand career. For months during high school,
my family and I would receive our daily nutrients from soups and undergo months
deprived of electricity and water. Today, my family continues to struggle through
financial hardships that have led to various ventures in my life. For example,
physical and mental strain. Yet, even after every hardship, I ve realized that it is
because of the hardships that I am pursuing a career in law and that I ve grown to
become a strong, independent woman. As I learn from my hardships, I can reassure
you that providing an impoverished student like me with the opportunity to enroll in
law school will become the biggest blessing to both my professional and educational
development.
Early on the summer of my freshman year, my mother, the sole provider of my
family, lost her job to a work injury that left her in disability. After losing her
employment, my family was no longer able to pay the rent and home utilities

Prevention Of Malaria And Mortality Rates
Despite the information that has been presented, data shows that malaria infection
and mortality rates have been decreasing worldwide for several years. The number of
patient deaths due to malaria has decreased by 47% in the last ten years. Since 2000,
infection prevalence in children 2 10 years old dropped from 26% to 14% and total
prevalence fell from 173 million to 128 million worldwide (WHO, 2014). A goal the
Gates Foundation has had since 2007 is the eradication of malariaand the decreasing
mortality rates has been partly due to their support of research for and prevention of
malaria (Gates, 2014).
Etiopathogenesis
Malaria parasites infect two types of hosts: the female Anopheles mosquitoes and
vertebrates. The mosquitoes do not suffer from the presence of the parasite, instead it
acts as a parasite vector . The female Anopheles mosquito ingests the parasite in the
form of gametocytes from a malaria infected host (CDC, 2012a). The infected human
RBCs bursts when they reach the mosquitoes gut and release gametocytes, which
then develop into mature sex cells called gametes (National Institutes of Health
[NIH], 2012). The gametocytes are male, microgametocytes, and female,
macrogametocytes, which fuse together forming diploid zygotes (CDC, 2012a). The
zygotes develop into actively moving ookinetes that can burrow into the mosquitoe s
midgut wall and form oocysts (NIH, 2012). The oocysts usually grow, rupture, and
release sporozoites (CDC, 2012a). Sporozoites travel from
How Did W B Yeats Contribution To Irish Nationalism
The aim of this thesis is to concentrate on those poems of W.B. Yeats which deal with
Irish Nationalism. His poems intimately connect history and literature. The MLA 7th
edition format has been used in writing this thesis.
Nationalism is a doctrine invented in Europe in the beginning of the nineteenth
century. It pretends to supply the criterion for the determination of the unit of
population proper to enjoy a government exclusively of its own, for the legitimate
exercise of power in the state for the rights, organization, of a society, of states.
Briefly, the doctrine holds that humanity is naturally divided into nations, that nations
are known by certain characteristics which can be ascertained, and that the only
legitimate type of government is national self government. (Kedourie 9) The nation
state is the focus of nationalism. Nationalism is a sentiment and an ideology.
Nationalist sentiment means giving primacy to national interest above all interests.
Nationalist ideology may be defined as a desire of a group people living in a
particular geographical area to become an independent nation by evolving their own
language, symbol, flag and declaring national festivals, and people living in that area
following these rules. It is about loyalty towards the nation and if the nation is under
colonial rule then the national movement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yeats contribution to Irish nationalism is literary. He took part in political activities
but through his writings he tried to revive a sense of pride among the people of Ireland
. He wanted Irish literature to have its unique place among the literature of other
languages. During his youth, he wrote poems to arouse nationalistic feelings, to
revive a glorious past and heroic days and to protest against the atrocities inflicted on
the Irishmen by the British. But later on, due to bitter experiences, he became a
realist and his poetry was patriotic but universal in theme. His view of the world

Last Day Of School
The last day of school was a good day. Instead of having to take an ELAR exam we
did PSP. On the last day I had ELAR for 4th and 5th period. I didn t have to do
anything. Since we didn t have to take a test we got to play games and mess around.
The day went by really slow, but I was fine with that. I was having fun messing
around and playing board games with my friends. At last, I heard the bell ring.
I walked outside of the classroom and heard a lot of noise. Everyone was so excited
that school was over. After school, I went to Top Golf with my friends. I had a
blast and then went back to my friends house and swam. The next day was my
birthday party. My friend, Grant, and I have birthdays around the same time, so we
decided to have a birthday party together. I was turning 13 and Grant was turning 14.
I had my birthday party at a place called Group Dynamixs, it is a big indoor area
where you can play a ton of different games/sports and do indoor ropes courses. I had
a lot of fun, but I was super tired after. The next days of summer went by pretty slow
which was good. It seemed like each day was 48 hours. A month later, time started to
go by a little bit faster. I felt like July decided to have 25 days instead of 31 days. I
went to Austin, Texas from 7/1/17 to 7/6/17 which was fun. I go to a place in
Austin called Lakeway every year with my family. The hotel is on Lake Travis. It
was cool and interesting to see the fireworks over the lake. This trip felt like it went

Lily s fulfillment of the Heroic Journey in Secret life...
The classic tale of the hero s journey can be recognized in almost every situation. It
is not only apparent through daily life and historical events, but in this
circumstance, a fictional novel, as well. As an epic voyage, it can be recognized in
the vast majority of books throughout the course of history. One specific example
where it is carefully and intricately exhibited is in Sue Monk Kidd s novel, The
Secret Life of Bees, in which a young woman s search for acceptance and the truth
becomes a heart warming chronicle. Through the obstacles and people she meets,
Lily is able to experience the trials and self fulfilling incidents that are required in the
heros journey she partakes in.

This part of the monomyth is represented by the archetype of the fairy godmother
or the guardian angel. Mary is a perpetual messenger of god, a virtuous woman who
represents the very ideals of power, struggle, despair, perseverance, and courage.
Mary is considered a religious figure, a woman who sacrificed everything to god.
Lily sees the picture of the Black Mary as a sign from heaven that she needs to go
to Tiburon, where she will find what she is looking for. Lily puts her trust in god, as
the virgin Mary aids her on her quest of self fulfillment The Mary picture gives her
the courage to go to Tiburon in search of her mothers past.
Lily and Rosaleen s heroic journey takes its first major leap when they escape their
old life of hardship and pain, by hitching a ride to Tiburon. This escape represents
the crossing of the first threshold that every hero must experience in order to
proceed toward their final goal. In this case, Lily s ultimate objective is to
understand and come to terms with her lost mother. Lily and Rosaleen get help

he does not actually help any animals, he is arguably, a farmer, and
The Effect Of Recasts And Prompts On Francophone

Regarding output, Corrective Feedback (CF) caters chance for learners to improve
their interlanguage when interlocutors provide correct input (recast) or attempt
eliciting the correct output from learners (prompt). Ammar and Spada (2006)
conducted research to compare the effectiveness of recasts and prompts on
Francophone learners of English at different levels. The study focused on the third
person possessive determiners (his and her) which are problematic to French native
speakers. After being instructed the rule and through some practices, learners would
be given either recasts or prompts to errors regarding his and her, or no CF in the
control group. Participants were assessed three times: pre test, immediate post test
and delayed post test. The researchers discovered that instruction and exposure plus
CF are more effective than those without CF. No technique is better than the other
since prompts are more effective than recasts for lower proficiency students while
high proficiency students benefit from both equally. Although the study only focused
on the binary forms (either his or her), it suggested that prompts be applied more to
improve lower level learners performance. Interaction is a two way communication

rest are details . Einstein wanted an equation that would encapsulate all physical
laws. To put the beauty and the power of the universe into a single equation was
his life s goal. Although Einstein s name is now synonymous with genius, his
professors would have never predicted him to be this successful as he would
always cut class, and he could not get a single job after graduating. Einstein
thought he was such loser that he wrote a letter to his family saying perhaps it
would be better if he was never born. His father had to apply on behalf of Einstein
for academic positions, but they all said there were no positions available. His
father passed away thinking that Einstein was a total disgrace to the family. In
1902 Einstein moved to Switzerland, and began a career far from science. One of
his friends got him a job to be a patent clerk in the Swiss patent office. He spent six
days a week reviewing applications submitted by inventors to the Swiss government.
He had to analyze the patents and strip them to their essence, which honed his skills
as a physicist. Since it was not intellectually demanding it would give him ample
time to contemplate the universe. Einstein s daydreams would change the way the
universe was understood. In 1905 in what has been called his miracle year, he

What Is The Argument Of The Third Tuesday By Morris

For this comparing arguments essay, I chose regret. The section titled The Third
Tuesday is my first argument about Morrie s opinion on regrets, how we are
affected by it, and his experiences with them on pages 62 to 68. My other argument
is an online article about what we regret the most and why (This explanation is
also its title) by Neal J. Rose and Amy Summerville. I am checking these arguments
for their usage of logos for their positions, if their arguments are sufficient, and if
their arguments are deductive and valid. Morrie s argument wasn t mainly focused
on logos. Morrie was spread out between all 3 appeals. He showed how he was
brave and unregretful when he was so close to death, he explained logically why
people these days don t think about regret, and very emotionally from how he was
observed and how Mitch perceived him about regret. Mitch notices, Morrie was

Caesar Augustus Dbq
When we think about the historical significance of Rome, it comes down to its
leaders and how these leaders ruled in their era. Confidence, commitment, inspiration,
intuition, and creativity, are all essential traits that a ruler must possess. In my
opinion, no one has demonstrated these important characteristics better than Caesar
Augustus, or better known as Octavian. Octavian showed how good of administrator
he was, which was well needed after years of civil strife and social unrest. On the
other hand, military genius, Julius Caesar, was lacking in administrative qualities

A Short Note On Diabetes And Diabetes Mellitus
Diabetes is a disease that plagues many individuals, causes adverse health problems,
and if left uncontrolled can lead to premature death. Diabetes Mellitus is
characterized by unstable glucose levels and has 3 different forms: Type 1 Diabetes,
Type 2 Diabetes, and Gestational Diabetes. This research paper will focus on Type 2
Diabetes Mellitus(T2DM). Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease in which insulinis not
produced sufficiently or non existing within the pancreas, causing an increase in the
bodies blood glucose levels (U.S. National Library of Medicine, 2014). Gestational
diabetesmellitus is when a pregnant woman develops insulin resistance during
pregnancy; generally, women return to normal glucose levels after pregnancy, but...

The goal of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) (2014) is to reach out to these
communities, provide resources for the population affected and improve the lives of
the people who suffer with diabetes.
Though the ADA does not actually provide healthcare services they target various
ethnic populations within the community; provide its residents with resources on
how to manage and treat prediabetes and diabetes. Por tu Familia is an outreach
program that is specifically designed to provide resources and educate Hispanic
communities around the United States. Diabetes is an urgent health problem in the
Latino community. Their rates of diabetes are almost double those of non Latino

individuals of all ages, males and females, who have Type 2 Diabetes and are
accustomed to dealing with diabetes on their own. The majority of the projected

Southern Gothic Literature Analysis
Southern gothic literature is a genre that is set in the American south. Oxford
Dictionaries defines southern gothic literature as, Characterized by plots involving
violence or hidden trauma, eccentric and often psychologically troubled characters,
and an atmosphere of repression and decay. The genre is one of dark, complex
stories that are full of grotesque themes, unpredictable twists, and often include
characters that are somewhat delusional. It is often packed with mystery and
intrigue, and like many of the characters in these stories, it is not always what
meets the eye. Throughout this paper, we ll be exploring some stories of this
genre such as A Good Man is Hard to Find and Good Country People , both by
Flannery O Connor, as well as William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily . Each one of
these stories share similar elements when it comes to their settings, themes, tones, and
characters, but they are also each different in their own respects. These stories each
include a female character who is first thought to represent the image of a proper,
southern woman, but later is shown to be much more than that. Miss Emily, the
Grandmother, and Joy Hulga each challenge the common stereotypes of the lives of
southern women and the values and beliefs of the South as a whole. Southern gothic
literature is an extremely interesting genre to study, and there is certainly nothing
about these stories that is dull.
William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily is a great example of a true
Understanding The New Kingdom Of Egypt
Understanding the New Kingdom of Egypt
Perhaps no other culture has intrigued the human imagination as that of ancient
Egypt. From the Ancient Greeks, who treated Egypt with venerable respect, to
Alexander the Great, and Napoleon, who felt it was imperative to go there, few
other cultures have represented so much of universal value to all humans. The
purpose of this paper is to present a brief survey of the ancient New Kingdom of
Egypt. An emphasis on scholarly views will focus on culture, agriculture, Nubian
Pharaohs, religion, and war. Of particular interest is the manner in which this
historical knowledge is repeatedly made relevant in today s world.
Culture
Spanning approximately 1550 to 1070 BCE, the New Kingdom of Egypt represents
a golden age, one which was almost the opposite of the Middle Kingdom of Egypt in
terms of its accomplishments. Some of the most prestigious names of ancient Egypt
come from this period, such as Hatsetshup, the female pharaoh, Thutmose III, Ramses
II, the last warrior pharaoh of the New Kingdom, King Akhenaten, the sun
worshipper, his beloved wife Nefertiti, and Tutankhamun, the much celebrated boy
king.
There is no probable way to estimate the amount of highly valued art and artifacts that
have been discovered and taken out of Egypt. Whether by contract, government
arrangement or smuggling, the allure of Egyptian art and culture has mesmerized
every other culture that beheld it. Only the size of the pyramids themselves, or the

Definitions of and Treatment for Alcohol Abuse Essay
One out of every thirteen adults are considered to be an alcoholic or to suffer from
drinking problems. Alcoholism is a developmental disease that progresses slowly
over a number of years and is based on both the physical and emotional dependency
on alcohol. In many cases it leads to brain damage or early death. Alcoholismis a
chromic disease, which means that it will last a person s lifetime. The risk for
developing alcoholism is influenced by both a person s genes and their lifestyle.
Early symptoms of alcoholism includes putting an excessive importance on the
availability of alcohol. An alcoholic usually has a high tolerance to alcohol, which

It can permanently damage the central and peripheral nervous systems. If an
alcoholic withdrawals from drinking it can cause shaking limbs, Hallucinations, and

Recent studies show that approximately fifty three percent of adults in the United
States have one or more close relatives that have drinking problems. Alcohol Abuse
has cost the United States more than 220 billion dollars in 2005 alone. Problem
drinkers are most often found in young adults between the ages of 18 and 29 years
old, and the fewest in adults who are 65 years of age or older. Alcohol Abuse is
one of the major risk factors for violence, and research shows that fifty percent of all
homicides and forty percent of all assaults in the United States are alcohol related. In
the United States, more than forty percent of the people who start drinking when they
are fourteen years old or younger are more likely to become alcoholics than those
who don t. One in ten Americans, currently have alcohol problems.
Alcoholics have the option of involving themselves in a treatment group, which may
be an individual therapy, or a group therapy. (AA) Alcoholics Anonomous is one of
the treat ent groups that is available, using the twelve step method in approaching
sobriety. Some other treatment methods include doctor prescribed medications,
which help to decrease the craving for alcohol. Some examples of prescribed

Chief Justice Earl Warren Essay
Chief Justice Earl Warren
Earl Warren was born March 19, 1891 in Los Angeles, California. Earl s father was
a Norwegian immigrant, which left him dealing with prejudice and equal rights at a
very young age (Grace, 1). This lead to early indications that law would be Earl s
profession. Even before entering High School, he listened to criminal cases at the
Kern County courthouse. Attending the University of California at Berkeley, Warren
worked his way through college. He majored in political science for three years
before entering the law school at UC. He received his B.L. degree in 1912 and his
J.D. degree in 1914. On May 14, 1915, he was admitted to the California bar. After
graduation Warren worked in law offices in San Francisco and... Show more content

The Browns, an African American Family living in Topeka, Kansas, along with the
NAACP requested an injunction that would forbid the segregation of Topeka s
public schools. This along with similar cases were grouped together and presented in
front of the Supreme Court (Cray 1 2). On May 17, 1954, Chief Justice Warren read
the decision of the unanimous Court: quot;We come then to the question presented:
Does segregation of children in public schools solely on the basis of race, even
though the physical facilities and other quot;tangible quot; factors may be equal,
deprive the children of the minority group of equal educational opportunities? We
believe that it does...We conclude that in the field of public education the doctrine of
separate but equal has no place. Separate educational facilities are inherently unequal.
Therefore, we hold that the plaintiffs and others similarly situated for whom the
actions have been brought are, by reason of the segregation complained of, deprived
of the equal protection of the laws guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment
(Schwartz, 198). The Supreme Court struck down the quot;separate but equal quot;
doctrine of Plessy for public education, ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, and required
the desegregation of schools across America (Cray, 1 2) .
Besides his work in the courtroom, Warren headed the commission that investigated
the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. He retired in 1969 and died on July

City Of God Sociology
The city of God tells the story of teenager s crime in the slums of Rio De Janeiro,
Brazil, in different time stages from 1960s to 1980s. The director shows an area
full of violence s, sex, crimes, from Rocket s perspective. Severe polarization of
wealth, urban crime and youth gang are revealed in urban slum due to the
globalizations of this city. This movie leads to people to consider two aspects of the
issues from the movie. Those are the importance of education, and the influence of
the environments.
Urban slum and physical environment shaped a sharp contrast between the rich and
poor. Social abnormalities are reflected in this film, which are caused by the rapid
development of Brazil s economy. The slums in the city, the edge zones in the city,
are the abominable products of the process in rapid acceleration of urbanization. The
people can be separated into two groups, which are the high education group of
citizens, and another group is the citizen with no knowledge. This issue is the most
significant reason for the gap between the rich and poor. The citizens who are high
education can catch up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Responsive Design
Overview
Gone are the days when a responsive design concept for smartphones, phablet, tablet,
or desktop was called a niche industry. Now, the transformation technology is
responsive design where a web page design is automatically adjusted to your
smartphone and other devices. Responsive design is based on the principles of
Mobile First Progressive Enhancement approach.
This white paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of responsive design,
and a technical writer s approach on responsive content.
Advantages of responsive design
With responsive design, the HTML tag remains the same for a mobile device or a
desktop, only the CSS changes. The web page elements get reshuffled. For example,
a four column desktop web page design may be reshuffled to two columns or one ...

Disadvantages of responsive design
With responsive design, the loading time of content, image, and other elements is on
the higher side because of unnecessary HTML and CSS code downloaded on a
mobile device.
Responsive design being a new concept, its development and implementation takes a
longer time.
One website for all devices may not always work for the users.
A technical writer s approach towards responsive content
Content is vital. As a web page adapts to various devices, so should the content. The
content should adjust as per the page layout. Because of responsive design, technical
writers can now focus on developing quality content.
Technical writing experts adhere to the Mobile First Progressive Enhancement
approach, because designing the content works well on mobile devices and later on
the desktops.
Following are some of the best practice approach towards responsive content:
Content strategy
Content strategy gets the top priority. Technical writers study the audience analysis
and try to understand What, Who, Why, Where, How much, and to what extent a user
would access the information on a mobile device.

Viviparity In To Kill A Mockingbird
Introduction
Viviparity (live birth) is a highly uncommon form of reproduction in the insect
world, those that do have this type of reproduction fall into two main groups: those
who have a high offspring rates and those who have low offspring rates. Viviparity,
while uncommon, does serve a distinct purpose. In some cases the insect has very
few ovarioles to begin with, in which case, it is essential for the offspring to be
given the best chances at survival they can get. Having the embryo safely protected
inside the insect while it develops gives the young insect a far better survival rate
than those who are deposited in eggs outside the mother. In other cases, such as with
Aphids, it allows for a telescoping generations effect which greatly increases the
numbers of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ovoviviparity is a type of viviparity where the developing embryos are carried in a
pouch or an outgrowth of genital ducts and is most commonly known in the
cockroach families (Huffaker, 1999, p. 149). This type of viviparity is less taxing
on the female since the developing young are not directly sustaining themselves
off her body as they do in true viviparity. Aphids on the other hand use a strange
method known as telescoping generations . The term telescoping generations ,
according to Capinera (2008), refers to the fact that a mother can have in her
ovarioles developing embryos which in turn also contain embryos or future
granddaughters (p. 195). This is an advantage since as soon as they become adults
they are able to reproduce immediately due to the fact that they already had
developing embryos in them (Capinera, 2008, p.1104). While viviparity commonly
has a low reproductive rate there are such insects, like cockroaches and aphids, which
are able to use this form of reproduction to their advantage to produce higher numbers

William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
Antony s Funeral Oration in Julius Caesar, and Why It Wouldn t Stand in Court
Circumstantial evidence is a very tricky thing. It may seem to point very straight to
one thing, but if you shift your own point of view a little, you may find it pointing in
an equally uncompromising manner to something entirely different. Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle. What does circumstantial evidencehave to do with a speech, you may
ask? In a manner of speaking, everything, for the evidence maketh the speech. In
William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, a long winded Marc Antony had the wiles to
manipulate a large plebian crowd to mutiny during Caesar s funeral, using only
simple words that were cleverly twisted to prove his point. Before humans learned
the concept of applying reasonable doubt to each and every scenario, Antony had
a surefire way of winning over the citizens. But as we evolved and have become
more knowledgeable, a speech like that would evoke demanding yells of, Where s
the proof? As the gaping holes of logic are made clear in Antony s funeral oration,
we begin to see what sorts of artifices made his speech so cunning; its use of
circumstantial evidence applied in the correct context, its largely emotional pleas, and
its desperate engagement of the citizens by telling them what they want to hear. In
this way, Marc Antony is nothing more than a demagogue, and his respective speech
is nothing more than a series of words that subject the plebian crowd to sheer
demagoguery.
Heat In The Stranger
In Camus The Stranger, the heat consistently symbolizes Meursault s emotions,
shown through imagery and personification. On several occasions throughout the
book, Meursault always mentions heat, therefore, heat can be identified as a motif.
The heat pushes him to his breaking point. During his mother s funeral procession,
Meursault mentions, the glare from the sky was unbearable (Source A). This
imagery portrays Meursault s psychological pain and depression, but he cannot bear
it. It is like the universe is preventing him from being able to feel and show his
emotions. The heat is also personified throughout the novel, making it his only
enemy. While walking on the hot beach with the sun blazing down on him, Meursault

The physical environment causes Meursault to act and it seems as if it makes
decisions for him. The physical environment is what pushes Meursault to kill the
Arab. Later, when Meursault was walking on the beach he notices the same
dazzling red glare (Source B). Death is foreshadowed in this quote because the red
represents the blood that will be shed moments later. This is the same heat and glare
that appeared on the day of his mother s funeral. Killing the Arab allowed Meursault
to let off some steak from his mother s death because he did not get closure.
Meursault s environment constantly bullied him by pressuring him into bad
situations. While walking on the beach, moving closer and closer to the Arab,
Meursault remarks, all that heat was pressing down on me (Source B). The
environment pressured him to keep walking towards the Arab and to ultimately shoot
him. Since the environment kept pushing him to move on, it was as if he was
walking at his own funeral into his casket. The heat is personified making it seem
like the environment is controlling him. Meursault s actions were impaired due to the
inescapable heat beating down on his judgements. Murdering the Arab allowed him
to relieve the tension caused by the heat. Meursault s constant worrying about the
heat, causes major changes in his

Ironically enough, the mass merchandise segment produces over twenty seven
percent of unit sales and just under twenty two percent of the revenue, but loses
$878.40 annually due to the expensive labeling requirement of Buy 4 Less. Buy 4
Less has required Happy Chips to produce a sticker or label that would cover the
suggested retail price with the new Buy 4 Less price. This machine has an annual
rental fee of $5,000, throw in labor and material cost and you can add $.03 per unit.
Buy 4 Less accounts for 22,000 annual sales causing Happy Chips to pay an
additional $5,660 annually that is not required in the grocery or drug segment.
Buy 4 Less has now presented Happy Chips with three new service requests that
must be accomplished to remain a supplier. The first request is to add one extra
delivery a week to eliminate stockouts. The current annual delivery for Buy 4 Less is
three deliveries a week to three locations at $6.00 per delivery. One extra delivery a
week does not sound unreasonable; however, Happy Chips has to also add the
stocking cost of $2.80 per delivery. This one extra delivery will cost Happy Chips an
additional $936 in delivery costs and $436.80 is stocking costs for a total of
$1,372.80 in additional fixed costs. Happy Chips is already losing $878.40 annually
and this would take that figure up to $2,251.20 in annual loss. The second request

Strict Deadlines And Organizational Performance
Strict Deadlines
Sixty one percent (61%) of the respondents observed strict deadlines as a serious
hazard with regards to matters of health. 39% did not consider it as a hazard that
affects organizational performance. Conversely, only twenty six percent (26%) of the
respondents reported that they ever give instructions to employees in ways that
related to strict deadlines. Most organizations are still not cognisant that employees
may be suffering from this serious health hazard in a way that affects their
performance in a negative way. It is important to note that the management of
organizations can, in a number of ways, prevent operating with strict deadlines for
the employees on a regular basis. Again the issue of strict deadlines ... Show more

There was also the issue of provision of instructions regarding preventive measures
or strategies to the employees, a factor that seemed to be disregarded or not well
emphasised in most organizations; only 35% of the respondents reported to do so on
a regular basis.
In as much as the physical preventive measures tend to offer the employees the
feeling that the organization cares for them, disregards or lack of emphasis on
information of preventive strategies somehow shows that organizations only focus
on protecting their properties. Offers of such information serves to ensure the
employees are well prepared in dealing with buglers and terrorist. Them would
know the correct times of raising alarm and cooperating; they would also be better
positioned in identifying robbers or terrorists, and avoid possibilities of being injured
or killed in attacks.
Chemical Exposure and other Pollutants
Common elements that bring about chemical exposure in most of the organizations
include cleaning materials with potential of harmful implications, chemicals in
currency notes and the ones used in machinery and equipment like photocopiers and
printers. Special focus ought to be given to organizations that deal with
manufacturing and processing that involves first hand use of chemical materials.
Otherwise and in commonplace office settings, most respondents failed to consider
chemical exposure as a health and safety hazard that
The Book Of Genesis Is Submerged With Revelation
Introduction
The Book of Genesis is submerged with revelation(s) which shows similarities
between the first Adam(s) and the last Adam(s). Revelation is the knowledge which
the owner of the land gives unto his subjects to execute his purpose in the land, in
his place, see John 16:7 16; As the first Adam is the son of God, see Luke 3:38. The
last Adam is God the Son, see Hebrews 1:8. Adam was given the knowledge to
execute the Father s purpose in the garden, this is a type of revelation, see Genesis
2:15 19. Adam is the prince of this word, he owns the land by inheritance, and
obeys the will of the Father, by operating in the spirit of revelation, see Genesis
2:17. When is, the inheritance given to Adam, Genesis 1:26; says, let them have
dominion over ALL the earth. The only thing that was greater than Adam was God
s word. God himself has now made himself subject to Adam decisions. In Genesis
2:17, Death here refers to dominion over principalities and powers, see Ephesians
1:19 23. When Adam disobeyed, SIN entered the world, and DEATH gained
dominion over the laws of Adam. Since God was in Adam, DEATH separated
Adam from the Father because of the new law in his spirit, see Genesis 3:7 22.
Adam was now born again, but to death. Thus, death entered the world and became
the new schoolmaster, see Romans 5:12. Subsequently, God removes himself from
the body of man, began his redemptive work, by reducing mans life to 120 years, see
Genesis 6:3; and permitting the

The Theme Of Archetypal Images In Yeats The Wild Swans
At...
This paper seeks to address those archetypal images embedded in Yeats The Wild
Swans at Coole that are designed to provide a context through which Yeats
illuminates its entire design of the soul s eternity. By applying archetypal approach,
the paper finds that there is a direct correspondence between the poet s quest for his
whole vision of personality and his creative flourish in art. Through the chief symbol
of the poem, swans, the poet discovers his anti self in nature and restores the unity of
his whole being. This task will be accomplished by bringing to light specific affinities
between the theme of the timelessideals of art and the immortal beauty and love of
the imperishable swans.

Scarlett Ibis Analysis In the Scarlett Ibis written by James Hurst, he sets a gloomy throughout the beginning of the story drawing readers in, forcing them wonder the unfortunate events that were yet to happen in the narrative. These loving brothers only want the optimum for one another which results in one of the main characters, Brother, urging his ailing brother, Doodle, to the point of death, which is a clear example of the theme James Hursthad demonstrated throughout the Scarlett Ibis . Although Brother only intended to encourage Doodle and make him feel accepted, it revealed how when you love someone so much, you end up maiming them the greatest. During the story, Brother, although caring deeply about Doodle, continued to generate selfish decisions based off of his personal reputation ignoring the severity of Doodle s condition. Brother s selfishness has driven his brother to death, an extremity that was not desired from either Doodle or Brother. With only few days left until school starts, Brother realizes this extravagant wish for Doodle to run, swim, climb trees, and fight is unfeasible and starts to drift into the thought of why he is pushing this goal so much. He realizes the truth, it was because of his selfishness. I should have already admitted to defeat, but my pride wouldn t let me. • 4. The Ghost in the Black Gown- Creative Writing Essay It was the year 1972 September 8th. The wind was gushing into my face; the rain was pelting down on my head. My car had just broken down in the middle of the woods and there was no kind of help in sight. There were heavy thunderstorms, and I heard the birds fluttering away. It was scary looking at the sky. I walked a few yards and I saw in the distance an eerie looking house. I was hesitant to go to the house for help but realized there was no other option. Somehow I felt I would not be able to sleep in this room knowing that there were webs in every corner of the room. Mrs. Brown said, Goodnight. I ll see you in the morning, and she left. As I sat down on the bed, I saw a huge spider run across the room. I ran out of the room and down the stairs. I just missed a step and I fell over bashing my head towards the brown greasy wall. Mr. Birch came sprinting to me and asked if I needed help. I said, No, I m fine. Just missed a step. I am actually quite scared of spiders so when I saw one I freaked out. Oh don t worry, he said, they won t harm you. I can t sleep, is there any chance I could get a glass of milk? I asked. Yeah, sure! Follow me. He replied. I followed him to the kitchen and I sat down on the kitchen table as he handed me the glass of milk. He whispered to me, I ll have a glass of milk as well and give you company. I secretly

These hormones are dumping into the bloodstream (Shier, Butler Lewis, 2009). The endocrine system does not have a single anatomic location. It is dispersed throughout the human body. The final purpose of this process is to control, regulate, and coordinate the functioning of the human body. Some body functions can be activated or inhibited by hormones, which are secreted in very small quantities. The hormone related diseases may be due to hyper secretion, or a hypo secretion. The hormones secreted by the endocrine glandsregulate growth, development and function of many tissues, and coordinate the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hyperthyroidism (too much hormone) may result Grave s disease. Symptoms include anxiety, rapid heart rate, diarrhea and weight loss, nervousness, anxiety, and irritability. The parathyroid glands are located in front of the base of the neck around the thyroid gland and secrete parathyroid hormone. Parathyroid hormone regulates blood levels of calcium and phosphorus. This hormone (parathyroid hormone) affects the bones, kidney, and intestine (Shier et al., 2009). Adrenal glands are endocrine glands that sit atop the kidneys (Shier et al., 2009). The adrenal glands secrete hormones that increase heart rate, the force of cardiac muscle contraction, breathing rate, elevate blood pressure and blood glucose level. This activity prepares the body foe energy expending action, sometimes called fight or flight responses (Shier et al., 2009). According to Shier, Butler Lewis (2009) other glands that produce hormones and thus are parts of the endocrine system include the pineal gland and the thymus gland . Shier et al., 2009 argued the pineal gland, located deep between the cerebral hemispheres, secretes hormone melatonin that acts on certain brain regions that function as a biological clock. The changing levels of melatonin across 24 hours enable the body to know when day is and when is night. Shier et al., 2009 explain that

In your discussion, include aging, infectious disease, and chronic disease. You should discuss the concept of epidemiological transitions Prehistoric humans had no notion for the differences between a PPO or an HMO benefits package, nor any reason to concern themselves. Similarly, most people today haven t the slightest idea how to clean a fish. To be fair to both groups, our environment has changed drastically in the interim, as have our collective needs. A growing population has given rise to new solutions, so as to promote efficiency and minimize want, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first epidemiological transition, according to Newman, came with the Neolithic revolution around 6,000 B.C. Populations exploded as agricultural technologies advanced, but the supply of food rarely exceeded the growing need. The widespread effects of resultant malnutrition are most readily observable in the altered growth and maturation rates of the children surviving dietary crises, their disease susceptibilities, and in the vitality of the adults. [...] Another consequence of chronic undernutrition is reduced resistance to [infectious] disease (Newman, 62). This can be seen in civilizations overly reliant on maize, such as depression era Southerners in the United States (Bock, 14). Maize comes up short in amino acid content, which in this case led to a condition called pellagra, a niacin deficiency characterized by diarrhea, dermatitis, and dementia. Unfortunately, malnutrition has not subsided with the passing of time, and industrialized agriculture has supplanted infectious disease with its chronic counterpart, at an alarming rate of morbidity. A large contributor to this most recent epidemiological transition is the old guard of food conglomerates like corn and milk. An informal investigation of the packaged food in the local supermarket will confirm this assertion. Corn, in one form or another, is contained in almost every iteration of junk food distributed around the world. From snack

Contrasting the Natural and Mechanical Worlds in Hathaway s Oh, Oh The French poet and essayist Louis Aragon, in his Paris Peasant, wrote that light is meaningful only in relation to darkness, and truth presupposes error we only exist in terms of this conflict, in the zone where black and white clash (Aragon 18). Aragon noted that the world is full of contrasts, and it is through those contrasts that we live and understand who we are and why we are here. Without an understanding of light, Aragon argues, we cannot understand what darkness really is. Or, without an awareness as to the concept of truth, one cannot possibly error, for the act cannot be defined. In William Hathaway s poem Oh, Oh, the poet uses language, word ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dominant contrast in Oh, Oh is created by the comforting versus harsh descriptions of the natural versus the mechanical. This contrast is created not only through images, but also through a careful collaboration of word choices selected by Hathaway. Perhaps the most easily recognizable of these is found in the middle of the poems only stanza. After the author s persona and his girl have walked through the country, they encounter the invasion of a train. But, the action of the intrusion is not what is important here; rather, the language that is used to describe both situations is what must be examined. For example, in the first half of the poem, which for the most part describes the country, the language is filled with beautiful sentences filled with adjective after adjective after adjective. A simple encounter with cows in a field becomes moo cows chomping daisies, our own / sweet saliva green with grass stems (2 3). But, on the entrance of the locomotive, the language changes. The complex, drawn out, three adjective statement maple dappled summer sunlight is replaced by a sterile and simple lit headlight (8). From that point forward, the long sentences disappear. Only when the couple experiences the mechanical real world, do they lose the power of language to describe what they see. Another technique that Hathaway uses extensively to demonstrate the difference

The Theory Of Mind Mechanism ( Tomm ) Though many of us may not realize it, humans have a remarkable set of abilities that allows us to understand, empathize with, and predict others thoughts and feelings. In other words, the average person is able to put himself in another s shoes. In our daily lives we tend to take this skill for granted. It is only when something goes wrong that we realize how important it actually is. For autistic individuals, this mindreading deficit is all too real. In fact, an inability to engage in this type of understanding of other s mental states is often taken as the hallmark sign of autism. Mindreading is defined as the ability to make sense of other people and to coordinate our behavior with theirs (Bermudez, 354). Many cognitive scientists believe the theory of mindmechanism (TOMM) is important to mindreading. These scientists contend that autistic individuals suffer from an impairment to this theory of mind module. However, others have argued that theory of mind, which is the ability to form beliefs about the mental states of others , is not a modular ability, but instead the result of the interaction of many different cognitive skills. In their paper Generous or Parsimonious Cognitive Architecture? Cognitive Neuroscience and Theory of Mind, Philip Gerrans and Valerie E. Stone take this view of theory of mind. I will review this paper and its arguments, then address the response to Gerrans and Stone made by Carl Hildebrand. Gerrans s and Stone s argument consists of

  • 21. The Use Of Personal Anecdotes On The Audience And It It is within the human nature to be interested in other people s experiences. Whether it be with reality shows or blog posts, people like to hear different incidents through diverse perspectives. Writers take advantage of this curiosity and try to tie experiences into their works. Many times writers will include experiences of their own in order to convince their audience of their perspective on a subject. These personal experiences are done in order to make an impact on the audience and it is written in a certain way to make it the most efficient for the readers. The use of personal anecdotes is effective when details are described to the point where readers can create their own opinions, when they are used as the main topic against an argumentas opposed to being an unimportant detail, and when it has the ability to appeal to the audience s emotion. Details within the anecdote are best described to the point where the audience can draw their own conclusions on what is happening. Prevention Of Malaria And Mortality Rates Despite the information that has been presented, data shows that malaria infection and mortality rates have been decreasing worldwide for several years. The number of patient deaths due to malaria has decreased by 47% in the last ten years. Since 2000, infection prevalence in children 2 10 years old dropped from 26% to 14% and total prevalence fell from 173 million to 128 million worldwide (WHO, 2014). A goal the Gates Foundation has had since 2007 is the eradication of malariaand the decreasing mortality rates has been partly due to their support of research for and prevention of malaria (Gates, 2014). Etiopathogenesis Malaria parasites infect two types of hosts: the female Anopheles mosquitoes and vertebrates. The mosquitoes do not suffer from the presence of the parasite, instead it acts as a parasite vector . The female Anopheles mosquito ingests the parasite in the form of gametocytes from a malaria infected host (CDC, 2012a). The infected human RBCs bursts when they reach the mosquitoes gut and release gametocytes, which then develop into mature sex cells called gametes (National Institutes of Health [NIH], 2012). The gametocytes are male, microgametocytes, and female, macrogametocytes, which fuse together forming diploid zygotes (CDC, 2012a). The zygotes develop into actively moving ookinetes that can burrow into the mosquitoe s midgut wall and form oocysts (NIH, 2012). The oocysts usually grow, rupture, and release sporozoites (CDC, 2012a). Sporozoites travel from

His poems intimately connect history and literature. The MLA 7th edition format has been used in writing this thesis. Nationalism is a doctrine invented in Europe in the beginning of the nineteenth century. It pretends to supply the criterion for the determination of the unit of population proper to enjoy a government exclusively of its own, for the legitimate exercise of power in the state for the rights, organization, of a society, of states. Briefly, the doctrine holds that humanity is naturally divided into nations, that nations are known by certain characteristics which can be ascertained, and that the only legitimate type of government is national self government. (Kedourie 9) The nation state is the focus of nationalism. Nationalism is a sentiment and an ideology. Nationalist sentiment means giving primacy to national interest above all interests. Nationalist ideology may be defined as a desire of a group people living in a particular geographical area to become an independent nation by evolving their own language, symbol, flag and declaring national festivals, and people living in that area following these rules. I was having fun messing around and playing board games with my friends. At last, I heard the bell ring. I walked outside of the classroom and heard a lot of noise. The Effect Of Recasts And Prompts On Francophone Learners Regarding output, Corrective Feedback (CF) caters chance for learners to improve their interlanguage when interlocutors provide correct input (recast) or attempt eliciting the correct output from learners (prompt). Ammar and Spada (2006) conducted research to compare the effectiveness of recasts and prompts on Francophone learners of English at different levels. The study focused on the third person possessive determiners (his and her) which are problematic to French native speakers. After being instructed the rule and through some practices, learners would be given either recasts or prompts to errors regarding his and her, or no CF in the control group. Participants were assessed three times: pre test, immediate post test and delayed post test. The researchers discovered that instruction and exposure plus CF are more effective than those without CF. No technique is better than the other since prompts are more effective than recasts for lower proficiency students while high proficiency students benefit from both equally. Although the study only focused on the binary forms (either his or her), it suggested that prompts be applied more to improve lower level learners performance. Einstein wanted an equation that would encapsulate all physical laws. To put the beauty and the power of the universe into a single equation was his life s goal. Although Einstein s name is now synonymous with genius, his professors would have never predicted him to be this successful as he would always cut class, and he could not get a single job after graduating. Einstein thought he was such loser that he wrote a letter to his family saying perhaps it would be better if he was never born. His father had to apply on behalf of Einstein for academic positions, but they all said there were no positions available. His father passed away thinking that Einstein was a total disgrace to the family. In 1902 Einstein moved to Switzerland, and began a career far from science. One of his friends got him a job to be a patent clerk in the Swiss patent office. He spent six days a week reviewing applications submitted by inventors to the Swiss government. He had to analyze the patents and strip them to their essence, which honed his skills as a physicist. Since it was not intellectually demanding it would give him ample time to contemplate the universe. Einstein s daydreams would change the way the universe was understood. Octavian showed how good of administrator he was, which was well needed after years of civil strife and social unrest. On the other hand, military genius, Julius Caesar, was lacking in administrative qualities which infect, lead his era to have a period of civil war and bloodshed. Oxford Dictionaries defines southern gothic literature as, Characterized by plots involving violence or hidden trauma, eccentric and often psychologically troubled characters, and an atmosphere of repression and decay. The genre is one of dark, complex stories that are full of grotesque themes, unpredictable twists, and often include characters that are somewhat delusional. It is often packed with mystery and intrigue, and like many of the characters in these stories, it is not always what meets the eye. Throughout this paper, we ll be exploring some stories of this genre such as A Good Man is Hard to Find and Good Country People , both by Flannery O Connor, as well as William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily . Each one of these stories share similar elements when it comes to their settings, themes, tones, and characters, but they are also each different in their own respects. These stories each include a female character who is first thought to represent the image of a proper, southern woman, but later is shown to be much more than that. Miss Emily, the Grandmother, and Joy Hulga each challenge the common stereotypes of the lives of southern women and the values and beliefs of the South as a whole. Southern gothic literature is an extremely interesting genre to study, and there is certainly nothing about these stories that is dull. William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily is a great example of a true

The purpose of this paper is to present a brief survey of the ancient New Kingdom of Egypt. An emphasis on scholarly views will focus on culture, agriculture, Nubian Pharaohs, religion, and war. Of particular interest is the manner in which this historical knowledge is repeatedly made relevant in today s world. Culture Spanning approximately 1550 to 1070 BCE, the New Kingdom of Egypt represents a golden age, one which was almost the opposite of the Middle Kingdom of Egypt in terms of its accomplishments. Viviparity, while uncommon, does serve a distinct purpose. In some cases the insect has very few ovarioles to begin with, in which case, it is essential for the offspring to be given the best chances at survival they can get. Ovoviviparity is a type of viviparity where the developing embryos are carried in a pouch or an outgrowth of genital ducts and is most commonly known in the cockroach families (Huffaker, 1999, p. 149). This type of viviparity is less taxing on the female since the developing young are not directly sustaining themselves off her body as they do in true viviparity. Aphids on the other hand use a strange method known as telescoping generations . The term telescoping generations , according to Capinera (2008), refers to the fact that a mother can have in her ovarioles developing embryos which in turn also contain embryos or future granddaughters (p. 195). This is an advantage since as soon as they become adults they are able to reproduce immediately due to the fact that they already had developing embryos in them (Capinera, 2008, p.1104). While viviparity commonly has a low reproductive rate there are such insects, like cockroaches and aphids, which are able to use this form of reproduction to their advantage to produce higher numbers of

It may seem to point very straight to one thing, but if you shift your own point of view a little, you may find it pointing in an equally uncompromising manner to something entirely different. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. What does circumstantial evidencehave to do with a speech, you may ask? In a manner of speaking, everything, for the evidence maketh the speech. In William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, a long winded Marc Antony had the wiles to manipulate a large plebian crowd to mutiny during Caesar s funeral, using only simple words that were cleverly twisted to prove his point. Before humans learned the concept of applying reasonable doubt to each and every scenario, Antony had a surefire way of winning over the citizens. But as we evolved and have become more knowledgeable, a speech like that would evoke demanding yells of, Where s the proof? As the gaping holes of logic are made clear in Antony s funeral oration, we begin to see what sorts of artifices made his speech so cunning; its use of circumstantial evidence applied in the correct context, its largely emotional pleas, and its desperate engagement of the citizens by telling them what they want to hear. In this way, Marc Antony is nothing more than a demagogue, and his respective speech is nothing more than a series of words that subject the plebian crowd to sheer demagoguery.

Death is foreshadowed in this quote because the red represents the blood that will be shed moments later. This is the same heat and glare that appeared on the day of his mother s funeral. Killing the Arab allowed Meursault to let off some steak from his mother s death because he did not get closure. Meursault s environment constantly bullied him by pressuring him into bad situations. While walking on the beach, moving closer and closer to the Arab, Meursault remarks, all that heat was pressing down on me (Source B). The environment pressured him to keep walking towards the Arab and to ultimately shoot him. Since the environment kept pushing him to move on, it was as if he was walking at his own funeral into his casket. The heat is personified making it seem like the environment is controlling him. Meursault s actions were impaired due to the inescapable heat beating down on his judgements. Murdering the Arab allowed him to relieve the tension caused by the heat. Meursault s constant worrying about the heat, causes major changes in his

Ironically enough, the mass merchandise segment produces over twenty seven percent of unit sales and just under twenty two percent of the revenue, but loses $878.40 annually due to the expensive labeling requirement of Buy 4 Less. Buy 4 Less has required Happy Chips to produce a sticker or label that would cover the suggested retail price with the new Buy 4 Less price. This machine has an annual rental fee of $5,000, throw in labor and material cost and you can add $.03 per unit. Buy 4 Less accounts for 22,000 annual sales causing Happy Chips to pay an additional $5,660 annually that is not required in the grocery or drug segment. Buy 4 Less has now presented Happy Chips with three new service requests that must be accomplished to remain a supplier. The first request is to add one extra delivery a week to eliminate stockouts. The current annual delivery for Buy 4 Less is three deliveries a week to three locations at $6.00 per delivery. One extra delivery a week does not sound unreasonable; however, Happy Chips has to also add the stocking cost of $2.80 per delivery. This one extra delivery will cost Happy Chips an additional $936 in delivery costs and $436.80 is stocking costs for a total of $1,372.80 in additional fixed costs. Happy Chips is already losing $878.40 annually and this would take that figure up to $2,251.20 in annual loss. The second request they are

Strict Deadlines And Organizational Performance Strict Deadlines Sixty one percent (61%) of the respondents observed strict deadlines as a serious hazard with regards to matters of health. 39% did not consider it as a hazard that affects organizational performance. Conversely, only twenty six percent (26%) of the respondents reported that they ever give instructions to employees in ways that related to strict deadlines. Most organizations are still not cognisant that employees may be suffering from this serious health hazard in a way that affects their performance in a negative way. It is important to note that the management of organizations can, in a number of ways, prevent operating with strict deadlines for the employees on a regular basis. Again the issue of strict deadlines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was also the issue of provision of instructions regarding preventive measures or strategies to the employees, a factor that seemed to be disregarded or not well emphasised in most organizations; only 35% of the respondents reported to do so on a regular basis. In as much as the physical preventive measures tend to offer the employees the feeling that the organization cares for them, disregards or lack of emphasis on information of preventive strategies somehow shows that organizations only focus on protecting their properties. Offers of such information serves to ensure the employees are well prepared in dealing with buglers and terrorist. Them would know the correct times of raising alarm and cooperating; they would also be better positioned in identifying robbers or terrorists, and avoid possibilities of being injured or killed in attacks. Chemical Exposure and other Pollutants Common elements that bring about chemical exposure in most of the organizations include cleaning materials with potential of harmful implications, chemicals in currency notes and the ones used in machinery and equipment like photocopiers and printers. Special focus ought to be given to organizations that deal with manufacturing and processing that involves first hand use of chemical materials. Otherwise and in commonplace office settings, most respondents failed to consider chemical exposure as a health and safety hazard that

Revelation is the knowledge which the owner of the land gives unto his subjects to execute his purpose in the land, in his place, see John 16:7 16; As the first Adam is the son of God, see Luke 3:38. The last Adam is God the Son, see Hebrews 1:8. Adam was given the knowledge to execute the Father s purpose in the garden, this is a type of revelation, see Genesis 2:15 19. Adam is the prince of this word, he owns the land by inheritance, and obeys the will of the Father, by operating in the spirit of revelation, see Genesis 2:17. When is, the inheritance given to Adam, Genesis 1:26; says, let them have dominion over ALL the earth. The only thing that was greater than Adam was God s word. God himself has now made himself subject to Adam decisions. In Genesis 2:17, Death here refers to dominion over principalities and powers, see Ephesians 1:19 23. When Adam disobeyed, SIN entered the world, and DEATH gained dominion over the laws of Adam. Since God was in Adam, DEATH separated Adam from the Father because of the new law in his spirit, see Genesis 3:7 22. Adam was now born again, but to death. Thus, death entered the world and became the new schoolmaster, see Romans 5:12. Subsequently, God removes himself from the body of man, began his redemptive work, by reducing mans life to 120 years, see Genesis 6:3; and permitting the

  • 55. The Theme Of Archetypal Images In Yeats The Wild Swans At... This paper seeks to address those archetypal images embedded in Yeats The Wild Swans at Coole that are designed to provide a context through which Yeats illuminates its entire design of the soul s eternity. By applying archetypal approach, the paper finds that there is a direct correspondence between the poet s quest for his whole vision of personality and his creative flourish in art. Through the chief symbol of the poem, swans, the poet discovers his anti self in nature and restores the unity of his whole being. This task will be accomplished by bringing to light specific affinities between the theme of the timelessideals of art and the immortal beauty and love of the imperishable swans.
