Key Points Both articles identify the issue of providing mental health services for veterans with an
extra emphasis on those that served in Afghanistan and Iraq (OEF/OIF veterans). It is no surprise that
returning veterans suffer from both visible/invisible (physical and mental) wounds. Most veterans
have this high expectation that they are going to receive quality care from both the DoD and VA.
Unfortunately reality steps in where veterans are slapped in the face because they are receiving a lack
of poor quality care all while jumping through Beuracractic hoops. The challenges faced to access
these services include resistance, stigma, lack of professionalism, and geographic and/or regional
disparities in the distribution of services resources and/or benefits, and the system simply refusing to
change. The articles address the prevalence of the issue of mental health and claims the importance of
policy reform at all levels of society.
Gaps in Research The research is limited in that there is enough on just the narrative of substance
abuse and enough research on mental illnesses, but research is limited when it comes to dual
diagnoses. There are inconsistencies within the research, where researchers fail to address advocacy at
the state and federal levels; therefore not addressing the snowball effect of the poor

What are the three fundamental dimensions found in physics? How are these three dimensions
represented in the metric system(s) in terms of standard, quantitative units of measure? The three
fundamental dimensions in physics used for measurement are length, mass and time. The metric
system is used globally and is accepted as the standard unit of measurement by the scientific
community. For the metric system, these dimensions are labeled as meter (m), kilogram (kg) and
seconds (s). They are all broken down in to multiples of 10 and use scientific notation and exponents
to note the value. There are also two other measurement systems, International System (SI) that is also
known as the meter kilogram second (MKS) system and the centimeter gram second or CGS system.
The MKS system follows the pattern of the metric system in that everything is in multiples of ten. The
metric system also implements a system of prefixes that also denote quantities, along with the
exponents. The CGS system also follows the basic rules of the metric system; it deals with

The policy implications of social process theories include: diversion programs amongst other things.
These programs are designed to rehabilitate these delinquents. Also, restitution allows the criminal to
give back in a sense to possibly apologize. Many programs are put in place to deter anymore deviant
acts or criminal behaviors. Primary deviance can often be pushed away; whereas, secondary deviance
cannot. Secondary deviance transforms a person s identity because it affects more people associated
with that person. Primary deviance doesn t automatically place a label on the offender, but secondary
deviance does. If a person is labelled as a criminal then they tend to accept that they can t change this
label. I feel like this labelling process is based on judgment. With labels they don t just mean one thing
it entails a whole slew of meanings. Labels can cause someone to be hard on themselves or just stop
caring about their actions. If someone s ability or worth is attacked they are more likely to rebel. Also,
these labels make it much harder to be accepted by society. The social bond theory has four parts that
construct it. The first part is attachment, which in essence is necessary to keep a person sane. People
want to be accepted by others naturally. The next part is commitment, which if someone is committed
to something they won t be as compelled to take part in deviant acts. The third part is involvement.
