movie The Color Purple . In the novel, The Bluest Eye , Pecola, and from the movie The Color Purple
, Celie, share many similarities in their stories. But they also have many differences that make them
who they are. They re both very young girls, going through a lot of struggles that you really wouldn t
be able to imagine happening, yet at the same time you can even compare it to yourself. To start off, I
d like to make a few comparisons about Pecola and Celie. Things that are similar between the two
characters is their lives. Pecola and Celie are both very young girls. Between the ages of 11 15. They
go through things that no child, nor anyone should go through. Like their beauty, or their sexual
innocence. Not only that, they re similar into how they see themselves, and what they go through with
their family. But at some points, Celie also shares a similarity to Geraldine. A black woman who lives
like a white woman. For example, getting married to do house work, and to please the man. Both
Celie and Geraldine don t feel any type of love towards their supposed significant other, but to another
living thing. For Geraldine, its her black pet cat, and for Celie, it s her little sister, Netty The loss of
innocence is what both characters share. Pecola, while at home doing house work, her father Cholly,
stumbles in drunk. For a while, he stands there and looks at Pecola. Imagining her as a younger
version of Pauline, Pecola s mother and Chollys wife. As Pecola s cleaning, Cholly makes a move on
her. Though it s not the first time he tried something like this to Pecola, he did succeed. Right in the
kitchen is where Pecola is raped by Cholly, taking away her innocence and leaving her pregnant. But
she loses the baby. Just like Celie. Celie, after her mother s death, is left with her younger sister and
father. Being the big sister, she does everything in her power to protect younger sibling, such as
protecting her from their father sexually assaulting her. Celie, after getting raped by her father, gets
pregnant, twice. She loses both babies.

includes three types of judgments or acts of reasoning. These are beliefs, values, and actions. Beliefs

offenders that result in them committing an offense. These pathways are intimacy deficits, deviant sex
scripts, emotional dysregulation, and cognitive distortions. The four pathways interact to cause the
crime; however, they have their own primary causal mechanisms. (Ward and Siegert, 2002, pg.335)
The first pathway, intimacy deficits, is formed by insecure attachment and an inability of the offenders
to establish meaningful relationships with adults. The offenders who associate with this pathway
offend at specific times and often substitute a child in place of an adult for their actions. Offenders
make an inappropriate choice of a sexual partner because of their insecure attachment which prevents
them from forming deeper relationships with adults. This inability enables the offenders to substitute
an adult with a child and encourages them to develop adult like relationships with children. The
second pathway that leads to a sexual offence is deviant sexual scripts. A sexual script is a mental
representation individuals acquire during the course of their development that facilitate the
