process of formally altering or adding to a document. The Constitution restricts what our government
is able to do but sometimes new rights and laws need to be made. This allows for our Constitution to
fill our needs in the present time as new problems arise. Laws and rules in the amendments are made
to form to the citizens for our benefit. If an amendment is proposed it would go to the House of

They prohibited it in the States because they believed it would benefit the people s health and work
ethic as well as reduced crime. It was largely supported before it was passed especially by female
