The student learned several skills related to camera use, video editing, and production work through creating a film. They found operating the camera challenging at first but enjoyed experimenting with different shots. Editing software like iMovie was easy to use and allowed splitting audio tracks. The student's production skills improved significantly over the course, from cautious early shots to a better final product using a variety of shots without a difficult-to-use GoPro. To continue improving, the student aims to learn how to use a broader range of technologies.

During the production of our film I have learnt a lot about how to use a camera
and how to use editing softwarelike iMovie. I found that the camera work was
the mostinteresting aspect for me as I have never done it before. I didn’t
mind doing someof the editing but as members of my group had experience
using editing softwarebeforeI thought that it was best to let them take over.
When shooting I did find that trying to make the camera focus on certain
things was quite tricky but I eventually got the idea of it. I enjoyed
experimenting with differentshots as it allowed me to be creative with
different shots. Fromwhatwork I did do on the editing softwareI found it
easy to useand we could do a lot of what we wanted to achieve such as
splitting the audio for Luke’s speech so it can be played over shots of myself.
I think that my skills in production work haveimproved dramatically
throughoutthe course. In our preliminary task we were quite cautious with
our shots and I think that our editing improved dramatically. Fromour first
draftI think that we improved again with the range of shots used and by not
using the GoPro we made our production a lot better. I believe because it was
difficult to useas we couldn’tcheck the shots we did until we went onto the
editing programmeso we had to get it in one shot. This proved to be a big
problem as our firsttry didn’t work and looked very strange.
I believe that I need to improveon using a wider range of technologies as we
only used iMovie and Photoshop. If weused a rangeof programmes I think
that our production would of looked better with regards to the titles but I do
like whatwe have produced.
