3. • From the preliminary task, research, planning, production, post-production and the evaluation I
have used various techniques and software's. This has enabled me to use a variety of techniques
to get the results I wanted. For my preliminary task I used Adobe Premier Pro and Photoshop to
get the results of the images and videos I wanted. Through the use of cropping and cutting the
clips down I managed to make a short preliminary task clip.
• Then when it came to the research and planning stages of my coursework PowerPoint became
invaluable, this enabled me to get all of my information and images across in an ordered and well
presented fashion. The images were sourced from various websites such as IMDB, Rotten
Tomatoes and Google Images.
• For the production and post production phases I used Apple’s IMovie which was a very successful
piece of technology. It is very similar to Adobe Premier Pro however is a lot simpler and smoother.
This allowed me to cut videos, merge audios, split audios from videos, add filters to videos,
change the pitch of sound and add writing for a title sequence.
• Finally, for the evaluation stage of my coursework I used PowerPoint and Word which allowed me
to have vast amounts of information in a simple easily accessible place. Additionally, it can be
easily read and skimmed through as the layout is simple. Using tools such as text boxes and titles
allowed me to find work quickly that I needed.

• Simple and quick
• Allowed me to lay out work in a fashion suited for me.
• Enabled me to edit my sequence in any way I wished to.
• The websites and image searches I used were quick and had what I
wanted to look at.
• The software was easy to put into my blog presentations.
What have you learnt about technologies from

5. • The negatives of the technology I used were:
• Sometimes IMovie moved the writing I had placed over video files
into random places.
• The audio jumped out of time if the clip was too large.
• Word was difficult to add images into the places I wanted them to go.
• Finding the appropriate music for my piece was difficult as YouTube is
licensed.
What have you learnt about technologies from
the process of constructing this product?

6. • My skills have developed hugely since the start of my preliminary task
and I now feel that I have a greater understanding of the editing
software I hope to continue using. Additionally, sources such as Word
and PowerPoint have allowed me to quickly make various ways of
presenting my work, along with Prezi which is a more dynamic version
of PowerPoint online I have been able to make a portfolio with much
variety. Finally, I now feel that I can approach A2 Media Studies with a
more positive attitude towards the work I do and use the technology
to my advantage e.g. camera, lighting, editing software etc.
What have you learnt about technologies from
the process of constructing this product?

7. Skills Learnt
• I learnt the art of using a camera and how different camera angles can signify different
meanings and provoke a response. For example low shots with a character looking down
shows power. This enables me to use the camera to my benefit and build a movie/film
around want my audience wants to see. Additionally, this also meant I could get the
shots I wanted when positioning the characters within the frame, this was a learning
curve for me as I found that different positions were favourable for different parts of the
scene.
• Another skill I learnt was how to adapt and use editing software to get the ideal
shot/scene I wanted. This allowed me to therefore cut and merge parts of clips together
to create a professional looking final piece. Furthermore, learning this skill early on
within my production phase meant that I could experiment with my production and use
different editing tools for different roles within my piece.
• A final skill I learnt was not specific to technology but was time management. This is a
key life skill and is essential in real world situations. Handing in coursework to dead lines
pushed me to do my work efficiently and to a high standard and I feel this is the modt
important skill.
