2. Q6) WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM
THE PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
• During the construction of the product the technologies I
have learnt are:
• Serif Movie Plus
• Camera angles
• Camera drone
• Photo shop
• Constructing my title and opening sequence has given me
the chance learn more about the technologies that are
associated with film creations. I am going to discuss both
hardware and software as I used both to construct my title
and opening sequence. First of all I will mention the
software that I used to create my title and opening
sequence.
3. • The software that I used was Serif Movie Plus. I had
never heard of Serif Movie Plus. before I neither
started my A- level media course, nor really had I used
any editing software so it was a new experience for
me. Serif Movie Plus taught me how to edit, crop, cut,
add effects (transitions and black and white), change
speed and much more. Movie serif plus gave me the
opportunity to turn my title and opening sequence into
a quality product. This software defiantly improved the
quality of my work and helped me achieve the higher
marks. Serif Movie Plus enabled me to make the shots
faster changing therefore making the title and opening
more exciting and more suited to the thriller genre.
4. • The first piece of hardware that I used was a camera in the form of
a hand held and a drone I used a handheld video recorder to shoot
my video. Before the creation of my product I had never been given
the opportunity to shoot video footage of a professional standard.
This meant I had a lack of experience in comparison to various
other candidates who had done the course previously. However I
watched tutorial videos of different camera shots that are effective
for a thriller film and after some practise I managed to get some
good shots for my title and opening sequence. I have learnt that
using a variety of camera angles such as, establishing shot, extreme
close up, and shot when coupled with the correct audio can help to
build tension and excitement; this all helps to attract and keep the
viewers’ attention. I have learnt many different angles such as 180
degree shot, match on action and shot reverse shot. Also I have
learned different ways of holding the camera that I didn’t know
before. The title and opening sequence has come to life with the
angles that I have learnt and it is better than I could have imagined.
5. • Another piece of technology that I used was the
internet. All the way through creating my product I
have used the internet for guidance and help. My
research has taught me new ways to edit, cut, shoot
and view my title and opening sequence that I never
knew before. I was already a competent user of the
internet before I began my A-level media course,
however using it to do research has made me more
fluent and productive when using it. The internet is
always evolving so there is always something new to
discover and learn. The internet has made a massive
impact on the quality of my product. The internet is
where I discovered all of my sound effect for my title
and opening sequence. The internet is also where I
learned all of my new camera angles and editing
techniques.
6. • I created my titles in software called Photoshop.
This piece of software allows you to create and
edit titles that can be made from scratch
purposefully for your product. In the beginning
my Photoshop skills were weak with having
limited experience with the software; however
after research I have gathered the skills that
allowed me to create an effective title that was
appropriate for my genre. Integrated in the
technology are tools that allow editing, text tools
and visual effects. I used these to add another
dimension to my product. I used the text tool to
add my titles which made them seem more
professional.
7. • I am going to use a website called Weebly to
present my media coursework. This website
makes your presentation seem seamless and
professional which is how I want to come
across to the exam board. Weebly allows me
to embed YouTube videos so that site visitors
can have easy access to my title and opening
sequence.
• The A-level media course has seriously
increased my technical performance within
the media area.
