The document discusses the various technologies and software the author learned to use while creating a film project. They had to familiarize themselves with Apple Mac, Final Cut Pro for editing, Livetype for titles/credits, YouTube for uploading, and SlideShare and Blogger for documentation. Prezi was a new presentation tool. The author also learned to use cameras like the Panasonic and SANYO, an SD card to store footage, and a tripod to stabilize shots. Overall the project required learning many new programs and technologies for video editing, uploading, documentation and presentation.

Learning New Technologies Through Film Project Construction
1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Apple Mac
• Throughout the project I used a Apple Mac
which I have never previously used before so
at first I had to familiarise myself with all the
basics and then all the programmes. This was
what I used to upload my film onto and then
do the editing of the film as the Apple Mac
supports Final Cut pro.
3. Final Cut Pro
• Final Cut Pro was where I did all of my editing of
my film opening. I have never used this
programme before so it took a lot of practicing at
the start to work my way around it. However I
have now learned a lot of new valuable skills on
this software such as cutting and rendering,
adding filters and titles, putting in transitions and
cross cuts and fades. The most difficult stage with
this software I encountered was when I went to
put my music on, but I worked around this when I
found oy about locking the rows.
4. Livetype
• Livetype was the programme I used to make
all of my titles and credits for my opening.
Again I have never used this software but it
was fairly straight forward. I learned how to
change the typography, alignment, add
effects, add transitions and learned how to
import the titles into final cut. In my opinion
this was the easiest part of the project and
took me the least amount of time.
5. YouTube
• YouTube is a website I have used many times
and very comfortable with. Although I did
have quite a few problems with trying to
upload the film due to resolution troubles, but
I soon sorted this out with a bit of tweaking in
the settings. I did learn something new which
was adding annotations to a film clip which
I’m sure will come in handy in the near future.
6. Slide Share
• Slide share is a website which I have never
used but got fairly comfortable with pretty
quirkily. The website is used for putting
PowerPoint presentations on to put onto
other websites such as blogger. I learned new
skills here such as uploading a PowerPoint
presentation to this website and then
embedding it onto my blog.
7. Blogger
• I used blogger throughout my project to
document every move I made, which I
thought was useful as it helped keep me
organised. Blogger was essential throughout
this project. I had never used blogger before
but it was very straight forward apart from
making sure to write a couple of posts a day to
keep up to date.
8. Prezi
• Prezi was something I've never even heard
even during this project and something I had
never used before. I used this website at the
very end of my project to answer an
evaluation question to present my work in a
different and appealing way.
9. Camera- Panasonic and SANYO
• Before Media this year I had never used a camera
like these two before. Before I even went out to
start filming I made sure I read the manual for
each camera so I was familiar with all the
functions and this really helped as I wasn't
wasting any time when I went out to film my
opening. The reason why I used both cameras
was because the SANYO didn't have a good
quality picture at night where as the Panasonic
did so I ended up using the Panasonic camera.
10. 16GB SanDisk Card and Tripod
• The 16GB SanDisk card was what I saved all
my footage on and was more than enough
memory. I then transferred the data of the
card onto the Mac. I was familiar with SD
cards before so I knew how to use them. I ad
however never used a tripod, but it was very
straightforward to attach the camera and
adjust for the right height levels.
