1) Bloggers were used throughout the production process for research, planning logistics, and sharing updates. This allowed for collaborative work and efficient sharing of ideas.
2) Survey Monkey was used to conduct audience research through online surveys. It automatically analyzed responses, making it easy to assess findings with minimal time spent.
3) Adobe Premiere was the main editing software. Techniques like slow motion, color filters, and artificial camera movements were used to enhance footage and convey emotion. Photoshop was used to edit promotional images through adjusting color schemes, adding text, and applying filters.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The Art Pastor's Guide to Sabbath | Steve ThomasonSteve Thomason
What is the purpose of the Sabbath Law in the Torah. It is interesting to compare how the context of the law shifts from Exodus to Deuteronomy. Who gets to rest, and why?
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Question 4
1. Role and use of new media
technology in various
stages in production
2. BLOGGER (RESEARCH)
Throughout the planning and
production process we used
blogger to create collaborative
eportfolio of what we were doing.
We conducted research on our
genre of track and portrayed our
findings within blog posts
alongside visual representations.
Examples of this include a shot by shot analysis of a video and promotional campaign
deconstruction, this helped to provide ideas for our production and give us a feel for
generic conventions of our chosen genre. The ability to embed visual representation,
edit posts and comment on each other's work at home made the whole process
much more efficient
3. BLOGGER (LOGISTICS)
Planning the logistics of our video also featured blogger, as we regularly posted ideas
and storyboards that we had for our music video, including early plans of our
digipack and examples of us practising using programs such as Photoshop and
practise of premier and using equipment as shown within our preliminary task.
This helped us largely and showed our progression and how our ideas developed
throughout the different stages of production. We posted regular updates of
how our production process was going to show what we were doing at different
stages of the process
4. SURVEY MONKEY
To carry out our
audience
research we
used survey
monkey. This
was particularly
useful for us as
it was
completely
online, so
therefore we
could email it to
a large group of
participants and
receive their
replies
electronically.
For quantitative
questions the
results were
automatically
analysed, so
therefore we
didn’t spend
much time
assessing the
findings of our
research, and it
was easy to find
what people
thought about
our ideas.
5. SURVEY MONKEY (CONCLUSION)
• This is a fantastic example of how web 2.0 has
progressed and assisted within our
coursework and has made the process easier,
due to it being electronic, I would estimate it
has increased the reply rate as it is less effort
for the recipient, and has made our job of
analysing the data easier.
6. STORYBOARDING
We constructed our anamatic by
sketching most of the key frames within
our production and finding stills from
videos that were of key influence to us.
We were highly influenced by Ed Sheeran
‘The A-Team’, and used a similar style as
we liked it in our animatic
We then used premier to place them in
order and estimate the timing of shots
and place them so that they are
intertwined with the music and go with it.
It also helped us to plan certain camera
movements and angles.
7. Cameras
We shot our production with HD cameras
to achieve an element of
verisimilitude and make our footage
look more realistic. We shot in 24
frames per second to achieve smooth
footage. This overall added more
interesting Mise en scene to our
video. However we were limited with
our cameras as we couldn’t adjust the
focus, which meant we had to
eliminate several pull focuses which
we had hoped to include. This is a
similar model to the one we used in
our production.
8. Filming equipment
One way in which wee
progressed from As
was the diversity of
equipment we used,
we already had
practise on the track
and dolly, however we
used the Jib this time
to widen our arsenal of
camera movements,
this turned out to be
one of our strongest
shots.
9. Adobe premiere
• Premiere was the most prominent software
used in our production. It allows you to edit
digital footage and sequence it. It was at the
core of our music video and we used many
techniques to achieve the final cut, this
includes:
10. TIME EXPANSION
Time expansion is more
commonly referred to
slow motion, it is easily
done in premiere and
allows emotion to be
created by slowing scenes
down. This helped to
create a relationship
between the audience and
Ant through empathy,
showing how digital
technology has improved
our production.
11. COLOUR SCHEME
We changed the colour
scheme to black and white, as
if to emulate a filter, but more
suited to our footage; this
took the happiness and joy
out of the image and gave it
the serious effect which
matched the message of our
production, and helped to
create empathy. We did this
by inserting an image control
filter over the picture and
adjusting the contrast,
saturation and brightness of
the image.
12. ARTIFICIAL PANS AND ZOOMS
After we had reviewed our
footage, we decided to add
more pans and zooms to
make the footage more
interesting and attempt to
keep a continuous movement
within our production. Firstly
we selected and cut the clips
we were using, then using the
properties tool, the pans were
done by selecting the first
frame and changing the start
position then selecting the
last frame and moving the
finishing position, the zooms
were done very similarly,
however by starting further
out then zooming in.
13. PHOTOSHOP
• We used a digital stills camera to capture
images for our promotional campaign and
proceeded to edit them in Photoshop. We
used several techniques to turn the original
images into what we desired:
14. COLOUR SCHEME
We edited the
colour scheme of
our product, most
significantly in the
back pane of the
digipack, to create
the impression of
a sunset to achieve
a chilled image, we
did this by
increasing the
redness and
reducing the blues
and yellows in the
image, to create a
pink/ red sky,
emulating the
sunset,
yet maintaining
the sharp image
that you get when
its shot at day.
With the poster
we replaced to sky
but cutting it out
using the selection
tool and inserted a
more interesting
sky in a separate
layer, as the
original was too
white so our
changes did not
show up enough.
15. TEXT
we also tried to make the track list and
title of the album look as if they have been
scribbled on, so we chose appropriate
fonts, on the back pane we had to use a
black outline to ensure it could be seen, as
the colour scheme of white with a black
outline can be seen on any background.
We inserted text we did this to put
across the necessary information of
our digipack, we recreated the
rudimental logo using impact text
and a box,
16. FILTERS
We applied filters on the two
inner panes so that they
would be black and white,
these two match our video.
We did this to maintain a
mutuality between the
different elements. It was
easily done, using trial and
error on the filter tool, so as
to maintain the glistening on
the bottle yet create enough
of a silhouette on Ant.
