2. How effective is the combination of your main product with ancillary texts?
Throughout my products I have stuck to the same types of
colours/locations and fonts to create a house style for my products. By
having a house style it allows the audience to easily recognise the
artist work and creates an iconography for them (which is what
Goodwin stated in his theory that over time the artist develops their
own star iconography by consistently using the same colours and fonts
etc.
For my ancillary products I have chosen to use the same images so it’s
easily identified as the artist whose album I am trying to promote.
When analysing other magazine adverts and digipaks I notice that the
main image on the cd cover is mostly always the same images as the
one on the magazine advert. This also help keeps a consistent house
style within the products.
In my music video it uses a lot of blue tones in the footage (which has
connotations of relaxation and calmness). So I chose to carry this
theme on in both the magazine advert and the digipak. This also allows
my target audience to easily establish the artists work which is the idea
of this products.

  • 1. 2. How effective is the combination of your main product with ancillary texts? Throughout my products I have stuck to the same types of colours/locations and fonts to create a house style for my products. By having a house style it allows the audience to easily recognise the artist work and creates an iconography for them (which is what Goodwin stated in his theory that over time the artist develops their own star iconography by consistently using the same colours and fonts etc. For my ancillary products I have chosen to use the same images so it’s easily identified as the artist whose album I am trying to promote. When analysing other magazine adverts and digipaks I notice that the main image on the cd cover is mostly always the same images as the one on the magazine advert. This also help keeps a consistent house style within the products. In my music video it uses a lot of blue tones in the footage (which has connotations of relaxation and calmness). So I chose to carry this theme on in both the magazine advert and the digipak. This also allows my target audience to easily establish the artists work which is the idea of this products.
