The document discusses quantifiers in English. It begins by defining countable and uncountable nouns. It then explains that quantifiers indicate amounts of nouns and lists examples like "many", "much", "a few". The document discusses which quantifiers can be used with countable versus uncountable nouns. It also provides examples of nouns that can be used with different quantifiers. Finally, it gives practice exercises on choosing the correct quantifier in sentences.

A few and few (for countable nouns) as well as a little and

they actually mean very different things.

35. Notes on: a few/few and a little/little
A few and a little indicate that the speaker feels positively about
the quantity he/she is describing:
Although he/she may not have much, it is enough.
Examples:
• I have a little money for lunch. ⇒ I have enough money for
lunch.
• I have a few dollars for lunch. ⇒ I have enough money for lunch.

36. Notes on: a few/few and a little/little
Few and little indicates the speaker feels negatively about the
quantity:
He/she doesn’t have enough and would like more if it were
available.
Example:
I have little money for lunch. ⇒ I do not have enough money for
lunch.
I have few dollars for lunch. ⇒ I do not have enough money for
lunch.

37. Quantifiers and “of”
Many quantifiers that end in “of” must be followed by an article
(the, an, a) or a determiner (these, his, my), although some do
not. Unfortunately, no exact rule determines which quantifiers
require an article after “of.” Here are a few examples:
